With the UFC continuing to grow as a sport, the number of star fighters will expand with that growth. Years ago there were just a handful of fighters that could get national attention. Guys like Chuck Liddell helped paved the way back when the MMA sport was climbing the ladder of respect as a sport. Now in 2014 there is more interest in the UFC than ever, and there are more and more fighters who can sell tickets as well as get mainstream media attention. If you see your favorite NFL team connected with our list of the worst NFL starting quarterbacks here, you may need to have a stiff drink. Your upcoming football season is not likely to end with any confetti or incoherent post game Super Bowl victory speeches from your team owner. Get yourself prepared for records like 4-12 or 6-10. If things go really well, your NFL team will end up 8-8 with their bottom of the food chain quarterback.

I realize that not every team can get lucky with a 6th round miracle like Tom Brady. Or be even more fortunate like Indianapolis, who got Andrew Luck in the draft, to slide right in behind Peyton Manning’s exit. Hell, San Diego had Drew Brees and Phillip Rivers on the roster at the same time! What team could be that lucky? QB miracles like that are about as rare as a Jacksonville victory.

Some teams get stuck with draft picks that just don’t pan out. Others end up with passers who are good game managers, like Alex Smith, who are not going to cost their team many games. But these game managers are not going to take over games and overwhelm the opponents with their passing skills.

Just who are the worst NFL starters at the QB position? Check the list out below. Don’t get too depressed if your guy is on the list. There is always fantasy football and there is a chance that your franchise could go 1-15 and draft a real quarterback next year.

10. You may have heard of a kid named Johnny Manziel. He is really good at getting into the news cycle, whether he likes it or not. I am not a J-Football hater. I like the guy’s style and the fact that he doesn’t try to be the person everyone else says he should be. However, when he takes over the QB1 position in Cleveland, he will not be surrounded by a great team. The best offensive player, Josh Gordon, will most likely miss the entire season due to a drug suspension. He could have helped Manziel get rolling in the pros a lot faster than without him.

9. Clearly Carson Palmer is on the backside of a decent career. He once had a great NFL arm and looked the part of a prototype pro quarterback. His stats in 2013 were not the worst, but having Larry Fitzgerald to throw to, certainly bolsters his numbers. Take away Fitzgerald, and Palmer would move closer to the top of this list.

8. Let’s be honest, no one in the NFL is fearful of the Miami Dolphins in any season. Similarly, their quarterback Ryan Tannehill does not intimidate any secondaries. He is at best a ‘decent’ player who could gradually get better. I certainly would not place any bets on him leading the Phins to any deep playoff runs anytime soon.

7. The Titans don’t give Jake Locker much to work with as far as weapons and he is less than an iron man when it comes to staying on the field. This, his fourth season, could be his last as a starter in the NFL if he does not take a major leap statistically.

6. EJ Manuel may have shown some flashes of brilliance early on in Buffalo, but he only played in ten games last year due to injuries. He will need to stay on the field to get the experience needed to get to the next tier of NFL quarterbacks. He should have a better shot at improvement in 2014 with speedster Sammie Watkins as a legit franchise wide out. Many a quarterback has been made to look good with a great receiver bailing him out when needed.

5. Don’t worry Jacksonville fans. You’re not to be excluded from the list. Chad Henne comes in at #5 mainly on his inability to throw more TDs than INTs in his six years in the league. Look for their rookie, Blake Bortles, to make an appearance in about game three this year.

4. Ryan Fitzpatrick is far from being the player he was in Buffalo early in his NFL career. That is code for ‘the guy now sucks’. In 2013 he managed to throw more touchdowns than INTs. However, when you add in the eight fumbles, he had six more turnovers than touchdowns. Not a good look, even for a manly bearded QB.

3. If ever there was a backup QB who got hot at the right time, it has to be Matt Cassel. The guy played like a boss when Tom Brady went down in 2008 with a knee blowout. That season he played great and ended up getting a huge deal from Kansas City as a result in 2009. But now the shine is off the former USC Trojan. He will only hold onto the Vikings starting gig for as long as it takes rookie QB, Teddy Bridgewater, to learn the offense.

2. I had big hopes for Matt Schaub when he went from backup in Atlanta to the starter in Houston. But for whatever reason, he just could not get it going like the Texans needed him to do. They were a great team that needed a big time QB. He did not do enough to get them to the big game and then he really went downhill. I think ultimately his confidence is shot and the Raiders will be his last stop in the NFL.

1. I hate to do it Jet fans, but Geno Smith is as bad as it gets as an NFL quarterback. You simply cannot throw 21 interceptions if you are only going to toss 12 TD passes. Hell, you can’t throw 21 picks even if you throw for 50 touchdowns. If Smith makes it as the starter after the preseason, I will be a little shocked. Look for Mike Vick to be the man for the Jets in 2014.

Agree or disagree with the order of these less-than-stellar passers, but you have to admit…you will not be taking any of them in the first five rounds of your fantasy draft.

‘The Expendables 3‘ movie might have gone through a bit of online piracy, but that won’t get these old timers down, and you can be sure that this franchise will still hold strong at the box office when it hits theaters August 15. Naturally, many sites are crying the woes of online piracy and how it’s killing the box office, but in truth, crap movies are what are killing the box office. Not to mention that with 4K TVs, you can now get that wonderful theater experience at home. Online piracy will always continue, but most times, people still want to see an event movie like this on the big screen, not the DVD quality that was leaked last week.

This is one franchise I’ve always enjoyed and can’t wait to see the latest entry that’s filled to the brim with 80’s & 90’s action stars. The latest clip from the film shows were the evil villain Mel Gibson has kidnapped Sylvester Stallone’s proteges, and now it’s up to those old timers to kick butt and blow stuff up. This is what this film is about along with bringing back those memories of decades back being a kid and seeing these guys really kick the crap out of villains without breaking a sweat or losing their breath. Now, we watch as they hold on to their chests hoping for one more punch before their ticket gets punched for good.

Now that the 2014 FIFA World Cup has ended, it’s time to start looking forward to the upcoming 2014/2015 season so our new UK Sports Correspondent has pulled together a Top 10 list of the best soccer players this season. His list covers everyone and every position so unlike American football where we mainly follow the top quarterbacks, Adam has taken a thorough look at all the soccer players he feels should be on this list. Also, for those of you that love pointing out typographical errors, we always appreciate your input, but remember Adam is in the UK so there may be an extra ‘u’ sometimes in color or favorite so you can give him a break.

As we approach the start of the 2014/2015 season in a lot of the traditional leagues, there has been a lot to talk about and consider. Big transfers, shock title winners and even an incredible FIFA World Cup to fawn over. 2014 has been a good year for soccer so far, and with the World Cup now over it might be a good time to see who has made the biggest impact on 2014. Lots of players have faded, others have shone, and new names have exploded onto the scene to be on our screens for the next decade.

So who has impressed us the most at Movie TV Tech Geeks? Here is a breakdown of our favourite soccer players of 2014. These are the biggest hitters;’ those who drove their teams to silver or returned big names to fallen glories:

1. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)

It might be a bit easy to put Ronaldo on this list, but the Balon d’Or winner is one of the best players of all-time, nevermind 2014. His meagre World Cup showings can be put down to a variety of issues. From the team around him being a bit of a disgrace- Hugo Almeida and Helder Postiga? – to carrying an injury, Ronaldo never made the impact on the World Cup that you could have hoped for. Or, indeed, the Champions League final. His fourth goal was a mere nail into the Atletico coffin in Lisbon, but he has still been one of the driving forces in world football throughout 2014 so far.

2. Luis Suarez (FC Barcelona)

The Uruguayan magician has recently completed his big-money move to FC Barcelona, and he’ll link up with Neymar and Messi in the meantime. Suarez is one of the world’s most outstanding footballers, with an incredible stamina and will to win matched with hilarious football smarts and divine talents. He’s one of the top names out there at the moment, and his match winning performance against the English at the World Cup, as well as a 31-goal season with rejuvenated giants Liverpool were testament to the prowess of one of the best in the world. Plus he’s proven that his bark is just as hardcore as his bite!

3. Koke (Atletico Madrid)

Despite a rather meagre World Cup showing, Koke has been one of the best central midfielders in Europe for the last eighteen months. Following on from a brilliant season in 2012-2013, Koke was arguably outshining the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Modric and Alonso throughout the La Liga campaign in which he wound up champion. One of the best young central midfielders in the world at the moment, he looks set to stay at Atleti for at least one more season.

4. Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

If you are looking for names that have been in top form for all of 2014, then Sterling has to be mentioned. The young winner made headlines when he first appeared under Kenny Dalglish for Liverpool, and then was a regular under Brendan Rodgers in 2012-2013 before fading and then getting injured. Flash forward to the summer of 2014 and he was one of the top prospects in the world going into the World Cup, and being one of the few performers for England at the tournament only increased his profile. With Suarez gone, Sterling might now explode even more.

5. Ivan Rakitic (FC Barcelona)

Quietly regarded by some as the best central midfielder outside of the “Big Three” in Spain, Rakitic shone for Sevilla in a Europe League winning campaign, putting in some incredible performances throughout the season. He scored big goals, set up many more and his metronomic passing was one of the highlights of the European campaign. He has since moved to FCB, and could be a coup for them moving forward.

6. Arturo Vidal (Juventus)

Although he did not perform quite to expectation at the World Cup for Chile, that was only because his normal standards are so high. The colossus in the Juventus midfield, he makes other central midfielders look tame and laboured and has shown time and time again what his potential ceiling is – the very sky. One of the jewels in a trio of Scudetto wins, with Antonio Conte gone Vidal might yet be on the move, and if he does move somebody is getting a true star for years to come.

The youngster who won the Golden Ball at the World Cup is certainly not a nobody – in the summer of 2013 he moved from Portuguese giants FC Porto to cash rich AS Monaco, and now plays for one of the top sides in world football. 8. Thomas Muller (FC Bayern)

The World Cup winners could have taken this whole list for themselves, but in the interest of at least trying to add some fresh names to the list we decided to only add in one German. It was a tough pick, but Muller is a personal favourite of this writer and although he looks like he just finished measuring the size of your decking en route to laying it, he’s a truly special football. His mind is ahead of the pack, even if his physique isn’t. A truly magnificent footballer.

9. Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid)

It’s hard to pick a centre-half for Atletico Madrid and know who to choose in your heart. Either way, they were comfortably the top defensive pairing in world football for the first half of 2014, and it’s a disgrace that Miranda – Godin’s partner – never went to the World Cup with Brazil. Godin, however, scored the goal against Italy that sent Uruguay through to the Last 16 and it was also his header against FCB that won La Liga for Atletico.

10. Yaya Toure (Man City)

Despite not sending him a birthday cake, we have to attribute a huge portion of the double that Manchester City enjoyed in 2014 to the performances of the Ivorian in midfield. He can look bored and lazy, but when he comes to life he’s like a gattling gun with the trigger held down. He’s an absolute machine, and plays a huge role in winning matches for City with his craft and dynamism. He’s famous for surging forward and forcing defenders to act as if there is a horse on the pitch, galloping forward before scoring an important goal. His attitude may rub some up the wrong way, but his ability can’t.

After reading a little bit of the book, I wound up going back to watch Mickey Rourke and Kim Bassinger go at it, and it was way more interesting to me with all the levels and depths the film covered. The book was provocative enough, but it just felt a little forced…funny, I know since their is plenty of submission in it. Many of you who’ll remember ‘The Red Shoe Diaries’ will feel a little deja vu when you check the trailer below.

For anyone who doesn’t know what the book series is about, it’s pretty simple: The story revolves around Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and her introduction to a whole new world of sexual discovery and risqué activities in the hands of billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan).  The film also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Jennifer Ehle, Max Martini, Luke Grimes, Rita Ora, Eloise Mumford, Dylan Neal, Victor Rasuk, and Callum Keith Rennie. ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ slips into theaters February 14, 2015 so you already know what you’ll be doing next Valentine’s Day.

A.D. Calvo's The Midnight Game might sound like the usual horror genre setup, but it provides enough thrills and scares to rise above most other horror films using a similar plotline. We know there's always a huge slew that come out right around Halloween, but they usually disappoint after the first fifteen minutes, but Calvo's will keep your attention until the end. The Midnight Game hits on August 12, 2014, but you can also pre-order now.

The story follows a teen girl who's parents go away for the weekend, and naturally she invites a few friends over who wind up inviting even more people over. Of course, there's always that one odd guy who gets invited and no one really knows who invited him (Guy Wilson). He suggests playing one of those creepy late at night games that's bound to freak everyone out, especially when things start going awry shortly afterward.

Only one person mentions that playing the game might not be such a good idea, but you know kids, they don't listen and realize that there's some big crazy consequences to be had when you play these games. Here's how the game goes: Confess your greatest fear, spill a few drops of your own blood on a note card bearing your name, kill the lights, bring out the candles, knock on a wooden door twenty-two times, wait for some freaky shit to go down. There is, of course, a catch: Those who flub any part of the ritual must chill in a circle of salt from the stroke of twelve until 3:33 a.m. or else risk a visit from the Midnight Man, a murky, ghostly figure who brings his victims’ aforementioned phobias to corporeal life. What could possibly go wrong playing games like that?

It's one that's worth checking out as Calvo keeps the premise simple which is usually the sign of a good horror film as they rely on atmosphere and our basic fears against us. It always works, but when filmmakers try to overcomplicate a plot thinking it will make a better story, it most often goes awry. Simple is better in these cases.

The Walking Dead Season 4 was one of its most powerful with some of the most shocking episodes in its history. The creators obviously listened when fans complained in the past of the show moving slowly so they found a great compromise of bringing in a lot more character development without losing any steam. We learned so much more about Michonne and Carol (Melissa McBride) not to mention a little more about Daryl (Norman Reedus) and his big bad brother Merle.

Now just around the corner is the Season 4 box set of The Walking Dead, and it’s bound to sell out quickly as fans will want to watch it all over again before Season 5 begins in October. This is one you definitely want to pre-order as the collector’s editions from McFarlane Toys always go quick.

The Walking Dead Season 4 Overview
Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” enjoyed its most popular season to date, averaging 13.3 million live/same day viewers per episode and 8.6 million adults 18-49. Whether evading walkers, resisting a super flu outbreak, escaping the fall of their temporary prison haven and desperately searching for a sanctuary called Terminus, the on-going story of a group of survivors under the protective watch and leadership of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Dr. Herschel Greene (Scott Wilson) continues to capture viewers’ imaginations on a global scale.

The fourth season begins several months following the close of the third season, where life has become relatively peaceful for the growing number of survivors at the prison. Rick made the decision some time ago to renounce his role as the group’s leader, in which a council was formed as a replacement. The peaceful society is disrupted when a deadly influenza virus ravages the population, killing many of the survivors. A scavenging team eventually returns with the medicine needed to contain the outbreak.

Meanwhile, a flashback reveals that The Governor was abandoned by his remaining henchmen following the failed attack on the prison; it then depicts Woodbury burning at the hands of The Governor, before forwarding to the present where The Governor is shown disheveled and wandering aimlessly. He eventually runs into the Chambler family – Lilly, Tara, their terminally ill father David, and Lilly’s daughter Meghan. He adopts a false identity and commits numerous good deeds for the family in an effort to atone for his past. Soon after running into his former henchman Martinez, however, The Governor impulsively kills him and takes over the group of survivors he was leading. He disguises the death as an accident and rallies the people behind his cause for revenge.

The Governor finds Michonne and Hershel outside of the prison and takes them hostage. He arrives at the gates with his new-found army and threatens to kill the hostages. Refusing to surrender, Rick proposes they coexist at the prison instead of fighting. Sensing that some of his group may be persuaded, The Governor decapitates Hershel with Michonne’s katana, provoking a firefight between the two camps. Rick confronts and fights The Governor, who nearly kills him, but Michonne saves Rick in time by mortally wounding The Governor with her sword. The Governor’s army is eventually defeated, but the defending survivors are scattered as the prison is overrun by walkers.

Following the battle, the survivors are split into different groups traveling separately; each encountering a variety of obstacles as they search for “Terminus”, a place described as a “sanctuary for all” by many signs posted along a series of railroads. Carol and Tyreese struggle with a dilemma involving Lizzie – a mentally disturbed child who murders her younger sister, Mika – which ends with Carol reluctantly killing her to protect Judith. Beth, who was traveling with Daryl and taking shelter with him in a funeral home, is kidnapped during a walker attack. Glenn and Tara are joined by three new survivors – Sgt. Abraham Ford, Rosita Espinosa, and Dr. Eugene Porter – who are on a mission to Washington, D.C. in search of what remains of the government. Dr. Porter reveals that he knows the cause of the walker outbreak but is unable to elaborate; claiming the information is classified. On the way to Terminus, Glenn and Maggie’s groups reunite. They are the first group shown to arrive at Terminus, where they are met by a woman named Mary; who welcomes them in and offers food.

Meanwhile, Daryl encounters a hostile group of men led by a man named Joe. He allows Daryl to join under the condition that he lives by their code; a strict set of rules punishable by beatings and even death if broken. The group eventually find Rick, Michonne and Carl and hold them hostage, seeking revenge for an earlier run-in with Rick that left one of their members strangled to death. Daryl arrives on the scene to stop the attack, and the bandits are eventually overwhelmed and killed. Reunited with Daryl, the group makes their way to Terminus where they run into the town’s inhabitants. Rick and the group are reassured that they are now safe, but a conflict breaks out after Rick notices Hershel’s watch, Glenn’s riot gear, and Maggie’s poncho being worn by several of the townspeople. Greatly outnumbered, Rick and the others are forced to surrender. Gareth, the leader of Terminus, orders them into a nearby railroad car, where they discover Glenn and Maggie’s group are also being held captive. The season ends with Rick claiming, “They’re gonna feel pretty stupid when they find out…they’re screwing with the wrong people.”

I am a big fan of Marshawn Lynch. The running back plays the game in a hard nosed fashion and is just a helluva lot of fun to watch. Who doesn’t like to see a runner go ‘Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson‘ and send defenders flying off his body?

Marshawn Lynch has decided to sit out of Seahawks training camp in hopes of getting a better contract. His current deal was signed in 2012 and he of course feels like he has outperformed the contract. The team may feel the same way, but they may not be as sure he will keep outperforming it. That is the issue with running backs in today’s NFL.

I like to see players rewarded for great play. It is the American way, do well in your job and you get rewarded. Or maybe that is a dream whose time has past as well. We see a lot of highly compensated CEOs in big corporations who seemingly run their companies into the dirt. And the result is the average workers getting laid off or their retirement slashed. Not exactly our grandparent’s reality of the American dream. The same is true with NFL running backs. They are great to have around, but as soon as a team can get a younger, cheaper version with more tread left on the tires, NFL teams will cut a veteran loose.

If any NFL rusher has earned the right to ask for more money, it’s Marshawn Lynch. He has more carries in the past three years than his fellow runners across the league. He has been an integral part of theSeahawks success, scoring 41 touchdowns and piling up over 4600 rushing yards in his time there. But holding out for more money is a big risk for Mr. Beast Mode. The Seahawks have two young runners ready to take over his spot in Robert Turbin and Christine Michael. They are untested in the NFL, but if either one gets rolling in training camp, that is a bad sign for Lynch. NFL franchises know there are tons of hungry young running backs that will take less money to do the same work as vets.

I truly hope Lynch can get the contract re-worked in his favor, but I would not bet on that happening. He is an awesome running back in a time when the position is not appreciated as much as it should be. Runners are too likely to be injured and with the passing game getting more important every single year, NFL rushers just have no leverage.

If I were the parent of any talented kid playing middle school football, I would make a point of him not being a running back. What would be the point? If he doesn’t go past high school ball then he takes a beating in high school for nothing. If he goes on to become a college running back, he again takes a beating for nothing. And if he is in the tiny percentage that makes an NFL team, he will take another beating. He will get paid at that time, but will never be highly valued even when playing at a high level. If my child was involved in football at an early age, I believe a few quarterback camps would be a good investment. That position is where the glory is at and the least amount of bodily abuse. If Russell Wilson was the one holding out, this would be a different story. In reality, NFL quarterbacks do not have to hold out. They, unlike Lynch and other rushers, are seen as valuable by their teams.

Alzheimer’s has forced Denver Broncos’ owner Pat Bowlen to give up control of the team. He has handed over the reins to team president Joe Ellis for the time being. The ownership will remain in the family as Mr. Bowlen had a trust set up years ago to ensure the team stays with the Bowlen family. Most likely one of Pat Bowlen’s seven children will eventually become the owner of the team.

Denver fans owe Mr. Bowlen a great deal of gratitude. It is not every team that has had the type of owner that could reach the success level that the Broncos have enjoyed since 1984. The franchise was on the brink of bankruptcy when Pat Bowlen purchased the team. From there he went on to lead them to six Super Bowls. They also made the playoffs in 16 of 30 seasons. I would call that a monumental turnaround from the mess he originally wrote a check to buy. You think Cleveland or Cincinnati would have benefited from steady ownership like Denver fans have enjoyed?

I often wonder just what makes a team or even a business successful over the long haul. It is one thing to have a few winning seasons here and there. Or in the business world, to be profitable for a couple of years then fall off. But sustained success is much harder to achieve and takes a vision that most leaders do not possess. In both the sports world and in business, these types of leaders do not come along everyday. Whatever “it” is, Pat Bowlen had it. I don’t know if leaders like him are born with super abilities that cannot be gained by practice or if it is natural talent mixed with a work ethic that others are not willing to imitate.

Luckily for Denver, they have, in John Elway, a great leader who was brought up under the leadership of Mr. Bowlen. Elway is obviously the most beloved sports figure in Denver history and as long as he and Joe Ellis are able to work well together, the franchise should be in good shape going forward.

When the time comes in the future for one of the Bowlen children to take over the team, that is when things could get messy. We have all seen how things get sideways when a business or sports franchise is handed off to the heir apparent. Most often, these heirs do not possess the “it” that their parent had. And John Elway may not have the same vision as someone who just happened to be born into NFL ownership. The old quarterback will likely have a problem following orders from the Bowlen heir as well. This is all assuming that just one heir would cleanly take over the team. There is always the possibility of a fight amongst the kids to gain majority control of the Denver Broncos. That would be a real nasty shame, but it happens all the time in other businesses.

For the time being, Denver should stay at the top of the NFL in terms of winning. They are solid on the field and at the remaining leadership positions. It is sad to see a terrible disease take away the mental capacities of a great NFL owner. Alzheimer’s took the Broncos away from Pat Bowlen. But the man ran the team the right way for so long that they are in fantastic financial shape, so his family did not lose the team to a fire-sale type situation. Having the right guy at the top matters tremendously, and Broncos’ fans had the right guy for 30 years. His leadership will be missed in Denver as well as the NFL as a whole.

Low and behold, Johnny Manziel has the number one selling NFL jersey as of July 17th on the NFL official shop. Not bad for a rookie who has yet to throw even a preseason pass in the pros. It is always interesting to see which players that fans are willing to spend their hard earned money to emulate. Be sure to check out the top 25 top selling jerseys at the end of the post.

Before this last official count by the NFL, Russell Wilson had the #1 selling jersey. The Seahawks QB got a big bump in sales around the Super Bowl but was at #3 at the end of 2013 already. It will be interesting to see where Manziel is on the list come the end of 2014. I do not see his team having near the season that Wilson and the Hawks had. So I envision his #1 spot not lasting all year.

In case you think Johnny Football is seeing millions from his jersey sales, you are mistaken. The overall sales are divided up equally among all players in the league. So the guy with the fewest jersey sales will see the same revenue as the top seller. If you think that is unfair, I would agree. However, at least pro players get some revenue from the sales. How would you like to be a college football player and receive zero dollars for your jersey sales? There is no telling how many Tim Tebow or Cam Newton jerseys were sold when they were wowing the country as college ballers. They got zilch!

The dollar amount of official NFL jersey sales is in the millions obviously. But add on to that, all the fake jersey sales that end up on ebay and flea markets. I even got in on the action a few years ago, buying up Mike Vick jerseys at a legit Reebok outlet and selling the hot item on ebay at double the price.

Jerseys are a big business, and they are just a segment of overall NFL merchandise sales. On most city streets you can count the NFL as a major clothing supplier just like American Eagle or Abercrombie. NFL gear is simply everywhere you look.

There are some interesting notes from the latest sales list. Tom Brady refuses to drop out of the top ten, even after a long career. He is the Ric Flair of jersey sales, as he just keeps on going and going. Richard Sherman talked his way into the top five, even though his play on the field was already worthy. Michael Sam may not even make the final cut in St. Louis but there he sits at #6. The #10 spot is not even occupied by a real player. Seattle fans really think a lot of themselves, do they not. I would think Jadeveon Clowney would be a few notches higher with all his pre-draft hype. And why is Megatron so low on the list?

ESPN’s Stuart Scott A True Warrior & Lesson To Us All

It certainly doesn’t seem like Stuart Scott has been battling cancer for seven years. Time flows by so quickly that every event seems closer to the present than it is in actuality. I can hardly believe the guy is 48 years old now, but to me he still seems young and fresh. He is also as energetic as anyone could be, especially as his body is being abused by a terrible disease along with the medicine used to fight it.

Scott has been with ESPN since 1993, the year after I graduated from high school. He was one of the first anchors I ever saw on SportsCenter, and right away became my favorite. His catch phrases and coolness just made him more appealing to me and many others. My buddies and I would quote him as we played basketball or just anytime that a “Boo Yah!” seemed appropriate. Not many people get a saying going to such a degree as Stuart Scott did with that one.

Last week, Scott was honored at the ESPYS with the Jimmy V award for being such an inspiration in his tooth and nail fight with cancer. His speech is at the end of this post, and is worth your time to watch until the end. Stuart Scott had to work his ass off to get to ESPN in the first place. No one gets an anchor spot on SportsCenter without loads of talent and a great work ethic. Even while sick, he has continued to work on SportCenter, do NFL work, as well as covering the NBA. He is not going to go quietly into that good night. He is working and living at a high level right through his illness.

The man has my admiration for his work as a sports commentator, as a dad, and just a guy. I don’t know a lot about Scott, except for what I see in public, obviously. But from what I can see, he is loved by his family and friends, not to mention respected by his peers. And it is a shame that he has been stricken with cancer. I hate to see any person sick, and it makes it more worse when I know the person, even a person that I only know from TV.

I have known some people who were hit by cancer. Some were able to fight it off and others were eventually overcome by the disease. It seems like a person does better if they keep going with their normal routine when they are physically able. An object in motion tends to stay in motion, as they say. I pray Stuart Scott stays in motion for many years to come. As he said in his speech, you beat cancer by the way you fight it and live with it. I don’t think he could have been a better warrior up to this point, nor lived any better life. He is a big inspiration to many that are cancer survivors, and those of us who are blessed with good health currently. He is a pro’s pro, a man’s man, and to me, he will forever be “as cool as the other side of the pillow.”
