BIG BROTHER 1714: Austin Using Wrong Head On Twins

Jackie celebrated her head of “Big Brother” household status last night while Austin continues thinking he’s much smarter than everyone else in the room. Vanessa said she knows she is probably one of Jackie’s top targets for eviction because she helped get Jeff evicted. Austin said his goal is to make sure Liz and Julia are safe from eviction this week. He also said if he gave Jason information he would trust Austin and not feel that Liz and Julia are targets in the game. Liz and Julia then switched places again.Jason questioned why Austin was telling him Liz is a twin when he had already figured that out. He also said Julia has her own name and she isn’t simply Liz #2. Austin said he wanted to work with both the twins as long as possible but his heart belongs to Liz. Jason said it seemed like Austin was trying to sell out Julia because he prefers Liz. Jason said Liz and Julia were going to be his targets.

Shelli complained that Austin was exposing the twins already, when they had agreed to keep it a secret. Vanessa said Austin was selling out his alliance and she was not OK with that. Shelli told Clay the plan to keep Liz in the game and target Julia. Shelli said Austin was throwing Julia under the bus so he could hook up with Liz. Vanessa considered cutting ties with Austin in their alliance. Vanessa said she thought she and Jackie could find common ground since they are both heads of household this week. Vanessa said she didn’t 100% trust the twins.

Vanessa said Austin has been her closest friend in the game and it would change things permanently between them if she put him up for eviction. She said she knew Austin was lying to her about the details he gave Jason about the twins. Austin said he didn’t want to reveal everything to Vanessa yet. James told Vanessa her mom was gorgeous, based on a picture he saw of the two. Vanessa said Austin’s judgement was clouded because he was falling in love with Liz. Vanessa told Julia Austin said he was going to target her for eviction because he wants Liz. Julia swore she wouldn’t tell Liz what Austin said.

Jackie said she wanted Austin or Liz to go home this week. Clay said he wanted them to pull off a win and get Austin nominated for eviction. Jackie told Becky the housemates were going to work together. Jackie then said she is nominating Liz for eviction this week.

Vanessa said that Austin betrayed her and she didn’t like being lied to. She also said Austin had no idea he was going down. Jason said he would never throw a competition normally, but now he might. Vanessa said Jackie was going to get blood on her hands from putting Austin up for eviction so Vanessa wouldn’t have to get the blood on her hands for wanting to get rid of him.

When it was time for the nomination ceremony Jackie nominated James and Julia for eviction. She said both of them had put her up for nomination and now she was returning the favor. Vanessa nominated Clay and Becky for eviction. John said he didn’t know what to do with himself this week because he is not up for eviction. Julia said that she trusted Vanessa but not Jackie. Vanessa said once Austin is gone she wants to be who Julia and Liz trust the most in the house.

Julia and Liz then switched places again and Liz was horrified to find out Julia was up for eviction. She said she was getting a bad vibe from Austin. Vanessa said she had done everything to keep Clay and Shelli from going up for eviction.

This week’s Battle of the Block competition a mock newsroom. When Jason saw a blank wall he said that is what Clay’s head probably looks like. The four nominees for eviction had to identify housemates from last year’s season of Big Brother. They had to unscramble the names of three of the contestants from last season.

Liz said this Battle of the Block is important to her and Julia staying in the game. Vanessa once again said she is letting Jackie do her dirty work. James said he must look nutty trying to complete this challenge. Liz said she realized during this competition she is the brains of the operation and James doesn’t really know what he is doing. James said he was supposed to be throwing the competition but he couldn’t do that unless Liz slowed down.

James and Liz won this week’s Battle of the Block, making them safe from eviction for the week. Liz said winning this was the best victory ever and soon she and Julia would be able to play the game together. James said he didn’t want to win Battle of the Block but he would enjoy the free Outback Steakhouse dinner he, Liz, and Vanessa will now get. Shelli said she was panicking because now Clay is up for eviction. Clay said he still hoped they could get Austin evicted this week.

Done Soccer Deals: Montreal Impact sign Didier Drogba

didier drogba signs with montreal impact soccer 2015Two more big name players, nearing the end of their careers in European football, have joined the Major League Soccer. Didier Drogba won everything with the club in his time at the West London club, Chelsea.

Twice the African Player of the Year, the 37-year-old will join Montreal Impact and his arrival to the club makes the league much more exciting. The club president of Montreal Impact labeled the day of Drogba’s signing among one of the biggest days in the history of the club.

“It’s an honour to welcome Didier Drogba to the Impact,” said Impact President Joey Saputo. “From the first conversation I had with him, I felt that he really wanted to play in Montreal. This is one of the biggest days in club history and his arrival to the club will be beneficial in every aspect.”

Montreal Impact isn’t the only team to have a quality inclusion from European league this week. The New York Red Bulls will invite Shaun Wright Phillips. The club’s sporting director Ali Curtis welcomed Phillips to the club.

“Shaun is a proven player who has played on soccer’s largest stage,” said NYRB Sporting Director Ali Curtis. “He can play a number of positions for us and is an excellent fit in our locker room. When we evaluated the unique set of circumstances along with the quality that Shaun has, it became apparent that we needed to be aggressive about adding Shaun to our club. We are pleased that he will be wearing a Red Bull jersey and we can’t wait for him to take the field.”

Stoke City have signed ex-Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay on a two-year deal. The 29-year-old has already flown to Evian to link-up with his new teammates. Stoke City are ready to line-up the two former Barcelona teammates Afellay and Bojan in the midfield.

Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa bid farewell to Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke last week. On Monday, they announced the signing of Jordan Ayew to replace the Belgian striker Benteke.

Manchester United have brought in the Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero to Old Trafford. Romero will most likely replace Victor Valdes, who recently had a fall-out with Louis van Gaal. It seems that David de Gea will be staying in England for one more season, which will most likely keep Romero on the bench.

Manchester United’s fifth signing of this summer transfer window was delighted to join his former boss at the biggest club in the world. He said: “I am absolutely delighted to join Manchester United. To play for the biggest club in the world is a dream come true for me. Louis van Gaal is a fantastic manager and I cannot wait to get started on this new and exciting challenge in my career.”

Van Gaal also welcomed Sergio Romero, whom he knows since his time at AZ Alkmaar. LVG told the press in the presentation ceremony: “Sergio is a very talented goalkeeper. He was a young keeper during my time at AZ Alkmaar and I am delighted he is joining Manchester United. He had a fantastic World Cup last summer in Brazil, although that is something I have put to the back of my mind! He will be a great addition to the team and I am looking forward to working with him once again.”

American League Winners & Losers Week 15

As the game cruised along as both the Boston Red Sox and Angels played inning after inning of scoreless baseball. This was before Mike Trout stepped to the plate in the bottom of the ninth with a chance to win it for the Angels.

Trout would do exactly leading the Angels to the team’s first win of the second half as well as his first home run of the second half. The Angels outfielder would add to his production on Monday in the back half of a double header to wrap up the series between the Angels and Red Sox picking up his 28th home run of the season.

Add in his hot start to the second half as well as his All-Star game MVP and this lands Trout on the top list of winners around the American League. Along with Trout, the Angels also land on our winners last after battling their way back to take over the lead in the American League West division.

While the Angels and Mike Trout land on our winners list not every body or team can say the same thing. One team that has struggled in the second half has been the Boston Red Sox . The Red Sox who opened up the second half in Los Angeles couldn’t find a way to pick up a win losing all four games against the Angels.

The losses dropped the team to 42-51 on the season as well as nine games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East.

Here are the rest of the winners and losers around the American League to open up the second half of the 2015 Major League Baseball season.

Winners:

Albert Pujols, Los Angeles Angels: While the Angels have been red hot dating back to before the All-Star break. Much of the team’s success has been based on the high production between Pujols and Trout. That production continued in the second half as Pujols picked up five hits in the teams four game series against the Red Sox including three runs in the day night double header on Monday.

Robinson Cano, Seattle Mariners: The Mariners second baseman has been a big disappointment through most of the 2015 Major League Baseball Season. That seems to have changed in the second half as Cano has picked up three multi hit games as well as three home runs and six runs batted in.

Chris Tillman, Baltimore Orioles: The Baltimore Orioles starter pitched to just a 6-7 record over the first half as well as a 5.40 earned run average. Tillman put together his best start of the season to open the second half on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers. Tillman outdueled David Price going eight innings allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out eight as the Orioles won 3-0.

New York Yankees: The Yankees entered the All-Star break with sole possession of first place in the American League East. That success continued after the break as the team opened up the second half taking two of three against the Seattle Mariners. In the three game series the club allowed just eight runs keeping them in each contest. Add in a big win on Tuesday against second place Orioles the Yankees pushed their lead to 4.5 over the Blue Jays in the division.

Losers:

Minnesota Twins: The Twins have been one of the better teams over the first half of the 2015 season. That success has been limited to open up the second half  after picking up a 5-0 win on Friday Night. The Twins would go on to lose the next two against the last place Oakland A’s including 14-1 on Sunday. The losses would continue on Tuesday as the Angles picked up a 7-0 win. The Twins have struggled to score runs of late opening up a possibility of a trade at the deadline.

James Loney, Tampa Bay Rays: Loney is just one part of the Tampa Bay Rays struggles of late scoring runs. Those struggles continued for Loney to open up the second half picking up just one hit over his first ten at bats over the weekend against the Toronto Blue Jays. He has followed that up with zero hits in his last eight at bats in the team’s second series of the second half. In those five games the Rays have managed to score just nine runs.

Chicago White Sox: Entering the season the White Sox were looked at as a chance to compete for the American League Central crown. Now after a terrible first half the team looks to have no outside shot at making the playoffs barring a hot streak. That hasn’t been the case in the second half as the team picked up just one win in the teams three game series against the first place Kansas City Royals. The team would then lose their first game of their second series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Justin Verlander, Detroit Tigers: After starting the season on the disabled list, Verlander has not been the same pitcher as we have seen over the past few seasons. In his first five starts before the break, Verlander allowed 18 runs over that stretch including six home runs. Those struggles continued in the second half as Verlander managed to make it through just 3.2 innings allowing seven earned runs in the teams 9-3 loss to the Orioles.

Yordano Ventura, Kansas City Royals: The 24 year old struggles continued to open the second half. Ventura allowed six runs on ten hits on Monday as the Royals would lose to the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-7. This outing plus three starts prior failing to get through five innings led to his demotion to Triple A on Tuesday.

cole hamel national league week 15 loser 2015 images mlbThe St. Louis Cardinals red-hot first half continues to open up the second half of the 2015 Major League Baseball season. This type of play is what helped the Cardinals to the best record in all of baseball. This hot start in the second half helped the Cardinals to open up a five game lead in the division over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Opening up the second half of the season the Cardinals welcomed the second place New York Mets team to St. Louis. The team opened up the series with a 3-2 win on Friday night. In that contest, Lance Lynn held the Mets to one run over seven innings while striking out nine in what looked to be a pitchers dual with Noah Syndergaard.

While the team’s pitching has been the top part of their success their bats have also been hot at times. That was the case on Saturday, as the Cardinals were able to get to Bartolo Colon for seven runs over 4.1 innings. Much of that damage came from Jason Heyward who picked up five hits to go with two runs and two runs batted in.

The Cardinals would lose the third game of the series but rebounded with a 8-5 win on the road against the Chicago White Sox. The win improved the Cardinals record to 59-34 and opened the teams lead to five games in the National League Central division over the Pirates.

Here are the rest of the winners and losers around the National League to open up the second half of the 2015 Major League Baseball season.

Winners:

Matt Kemp, San Diego Padres: For the San Diego Padres to turn around their 2015 season, Kemp needs to play like the player he has the potential to be. This has been the case in the second half as Kemp has five hits in his first12 at bats including two doubles, two home runs and five runs batted in.

Milwaukee Brewers: The Natioal League Central division has been one of the best in all of baseball for most of the season. That has continued in the second half with a surprising team playing some of the best baseball in the division. That team has been the Brewers who currently sit in last place in the division and nearly 18 games out of first place. Opening up the second half of the season the Brewers welcomed the second place Pirates to town taking all three games. In the three game series the Brewers pitching saff allowed a total of seven runs with five coming in game two. The success continued in their first game against the Cleveland Indians picking up an 8-1 victory.

Jake Arrieta, Chicago Cubs: Much of the Cubs success this year has been due to the success of Arrieta and the pitching staff. Arrieta managed to work seven scoreless innings in his first half of the second half against the Atlanta Braves going seven innings allowing zero earned runs while striking out 10. The win pushed his season record to 11-5 while lowering his earned run average to just 2.52 on the season.

Zach Greinke, Los Angeles Dodgers: The Dodgers starter has been brilliant all season outside of his first inning home run allowed to Mike Trout in the All-Star Game. Luckily for him and the Dodgers that doesn’t count as Greinke continues his scoreless inning streak after allowing zero earned runs against the Washington Nationals on Sunday over eight innings. Greinke has not allowed a run since June 13th going six games with out giving one up helping him lower his earned run average to 1.30 on the season.

Adrian Gonzalez, Los Angeles Dodgers: Gonzalez continues to put together a brilliant 2015 campaign. That includes picking up ten hits since the All-Star break ended along with four multi-hit games. In that stretch Gonzalez has one double, three home urns, five runs driven in and five runs scored for the National League West leaders.

Losers:

Starlin Castro, Chicago Cubs: The Cubs second baseman has been solid all season but has seen his batting average drop to .240 of late. Since the second half of the season started, Castro has just three hits in 23 at bats for the Cubs including eight total strikeouts. For now Castro looks like a fixture in the lineup but we could hear his name again surface come the trade deadline if it could net the Cubs a player who could help them down the stretch.

Cole Hamels, Philadelphia Phillies: One of the top trade targets on the market has not looked like an ace of late. Hamels who could be pursued by as many as 10 teams has allowed 14 earned runs over his last two outings. This includes his only start of the second half working just three innings while allowing eight hits and five earned runs.

Arizona Diamondbacks: The Diamondbacks have found themselves just above the Colorado Rockies in the National League West. This comes after a strong push before the break moved up to third with a chance to even move into third. Now after the break, the team has lost four of five including being swept at home against the San Francisco Giants.

Pedro Alvarez, Pittsburgh Pirates: The Pirates infielder is a power threat waiting to happen each time he steps in the plate. The downside has been his ability to get on base seeing his batting average drop to .231 on the season while his on base percentage sits at .299 through his first 86 games. Since the second half of the season started, Alvarez picked up just two hits in 15 at bats including eight strikeouts.

American League Week 15: MLB Trade Deadline Looming

american league mlb trade deadline 2015The Major League Baseball action is heating up around the American League as the second half of the 2015 season has gotten underway. After an action packed first half that saw nearly every team in the American League get hot now the question is which of the 15 team’s will make that stride to lock up their respective divisions for the post season.

While it was only one weekend of play it could have a big time effect on how some teams could approach the MLB trade deadline on July 31st. This includes as many as four teams in the American League East after another shuffle among second through fourth place. This includes the Baltimore Orioles who after losing on Friday Night found a way to take two of three from the Detroit Tigers over the weekend.

Then you have that same Tigers team that dropped to 10.5 games behind the Kansas City Royals before finding a way to pick up a game on Monday with their win. That series looks to have put the Tigers in sell mode with Miguel Cabrera on the disabled list players like David Price and Yoenis Cespedes have become available.

This gives us a chance to look at each of the divisions around the American League after another great week to open up the second half of the 2015 Major League Baseball season.

American League East: This division continues to be a battle between the top four teams despite the New York Yankees holding a four game lead over the Orioles. Behind the Orioles you have the Toronto Blue Jays who only sit 4.5 games back while the Tampa Bay Rays sit at five games back. The only team that looks like they could be out of it at this point is the Boston Red Sox who sit at nine back but showed some signs of life before the break.

Opening up the second half the season the Orioles struggled on Friday Night as Ubaldo Jimenez was touched up for three home runs in a 7-3 loss. The team managed to bounce back on Saturday behind Chris Tillman’s strong start to beat Price and the Tigers 3-0 before their bats came to life on Sunday. The win on Saturday allowed the team to pick up a game on the first place Yankees.

While the Orioles took two of three against the Tigers, the Yankees managed to take two of three from the struggling Seattle Mariners. The key to the Yankees success after their break has been their pitching allowing just eight runs in the three game series including some solid pitching from the back end of their bullpen.

The other three teams continue to bounce around as well including the Red Sox who were hot heading into the break. Since the second half started the team has not been able to score runs in the teams four losses to the Angels. In the series the Red Sox managed just four runs in four games beings shut out in the first two games.

The American League East should be interesting to see at the end of this week as the Orioles and Yankees open a three game series starting on Tuesday.

American League Central:  A division that one looked to be a two team race between the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals has completely taken a change of direction. The Tigers are no longer in the race for the division after a difficult stretch since losing the team’s top player Miguel Cabrera. The struggles along with the Royals hot stretch winning seven of their past 10 games now has the Tigers at 9.5 games out of first place.

Since the second half opened up the Tigers are 2-2 after losing their opening series against the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend. The team bounced back on Monday with a 5-4 win over the Struggling Mariners as they look forward to winning this series to stay in contention. While the Tigers struggled over the weekend the Royals managed to take three of four against the struggling Chicago White Sox before losing to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.

Then you have the Minnesota Twins who have turned out to be a dark horse in the division as the currently sit in second place. The one question fans will look to this week to see how the team will respond after losing two of three over the weekend to the Oakland A’s as they get ready to open a series against the Angels.

Sitting in fourth place is the Cleveland Indians who made a recent splash to get back into contention including winning six of their last ten games including two of three over the weekend against the Cincinnati Reds. At the bottom sit the struggling White Sox who played to just a 42-48 record on the season.

American League West: After an exciting late first half run by the Angels the team continues to sit atop winning five straight games including all four of the teams contest after the All-Star break. Those four wins came in the teams four game sweep of the Red Sox including taking both games of the double header on Monday.

While the Angels have been red hot winning eight of their past 10 games the chance to take over the top spot came as the Astros struggled. The Astros have played to just a 3-7 record over their last ten games but managed to take two of three over the weekend against in state rivals the Texas Rangers. These two teams could be in a two way battle for both the division as well as one of the two wild card spots.

Overall the American League West has been a big disappointment as we have seen the Rangers, A’s and Mariners all struggle over most of the season. The A’s have gotten off to a solid start winning two of three over the weekend.

National League Week 15: San Diego Padres Heating Up

san diego padres heat up national league week 15 2015 imagesThe second half of the 2015 Major League Baseball season has opened up as a few surprise teams have played well around the National League. One of those teams that opened up hot to open the second half of the season has been the San Diego Padres. The same Padres team that many experts predicted would be a major player in the National League.

After taking both games against the Colorado Rockies over the weekend the team bounced back with a win on Monday against the Giants. This pushed the Padres current win streak to five straight games while moving the team up to third place in the division. That being said the team still trails the Los Angeles Dodgers by 8.5 games.

These next two weeks will be critical for the Padres especially if the wins keep coming in as the 2015 Major League Baseball trade deadline sits on July 31st. Along with the Padres we have also seen the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers get off to a hot start after the break. For these two clubs though the wins will not mean much as both teams are expected to be active on the trade front.

National League East: Entering the season the Washington Nationals were the early favorite not only to win the National League East but also represent the National League in the World Series. At this point the Nationals currently hold the top spot in the division but have yet to find a way to pull themselves away from the New York Mets.

That continued to open the season as the team picked up a win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night at home before losing back to back games on Saturday and Sunday. Luckily for club they get to welcome the New York Mets to town for a big divisional matchup. The Nationals took game one on Monday 7-2 as they found a way to rough up Matt Harvey.

While the Nationals struggled against the top team in West,  the Mets struggled over the weekend against the top team in all of baseball the St. Louis Cardinals. The Mets would lose the first two games of the three game series before picking up a 3-2 win on Sunday. The teams issues continue as they managed to score just seven runs in the three game series.

Rounding out the division is the Atlanta Braves in third place followed by the Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies who many expect to be big time sellers opened up the second half of the season sweeping the Marlins before picking up game one against the Rays on Monday.

National League Central:  The National League Central continues to be the top division in all of baseball as the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates each sit with two of the top records in all of baseball. This also showed up on Monday as the Pirates picked up a win in game one of the teams current series against the top team in the American League in the Kansas City Royals.

As we look at these two teams the teams both have great starting pitching including Gerrit Cole who leads all of Major League Baseball with 13 wins while Carlos Martinez sits tied for third in the National League with 10 wins.

That being said the Cardinals managed to push their lead to four games after taking two of three over the Mets over the weekend. This was in large part due to the Pirates sturggles on the road at Milwaukee against the Brewers. The Brewers managed to sweep the Pirates outscoring them 18-7 in the three game series.

Rounding out the rest of the division is the Chicago Cubs who sit in third place with a 49-42 record but have only won five of their last 10 games. Then you have the struggling Reds in fourth place at 41-49 and the red hot Brewers in last place at 41-52. Overall the National League Central continues to be the best division in all of baseball.

National League West: Could the National League West become a three team race for the division or will the Padres become sellers at the deadline? That has been the question many have asked for the past few weeks but the teams current five game win streak could make it an easier decision on the teams front office.

While the Padres have been red hot of late the Dodgers and Giants have played well after the break as well. The Giants opened up the second half taking all three games on the road against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The three game sweep by the Giants dropped the Diamondbacks to fourth place in the division.

The Dodgers on the other hand opened up the second half losing 5-3 on Friday Night against the Washington Nationals. The team would rebound though over the weekend taking game 2 4-2 on Saturday before shutting out the Nationals on Sunday 5-0. The two game winning streak would come to an end on Monday 7-5 but the club still holds a 3.5 game lead over the Giants.

Rounding out the rest of the division has the Padres in third place after their recent success followed by the Diamondbacks in fourth and the Colorado Rockies in last place. This should still be an interesting second half as all five teams in this division have the talent to win. This could present some swings to the standings with a bunch of divisional games on the upcoming schedule.

The National League West could also be a harvest place for contending teams as the Rockies, Padres and Diamondbacks all have some talent that could help a winning team down the stretch.

The second half of the season should be fun to watch as the National League race for the playoffs heat up!

In the superstar’s defense though, he was simply recounting a conversation he had with a fellow wrestler years ago. He’s been completely scrubbed from everything WWE, including WWE 2K16 as if he never existed.

In other celebrity gossip, by some absolute miracle Kylie Jenner recently graduated from an accredited high school. To celebrate this milestone in her life her mom threw her a surprise graduation party hosted by (surprise, surprise) Ryan Seacrest himself. This is either a huge accomplishment for a member of the Jenner/Kardashian clan or the school system’s woeful inability to determine who is worthy of graduation and who is not. Khloe Kardashian quickly went into defensive mode when someone insinuated that cocaine was being served at the graduation party. The rumors arose after an Instagram of the 31-year-old twerking went viral. In the video, a man can be seen in the frame taking an unknown substance out of a small container with his finger and putting it in his mouth.

More disturbing news from the Kardashian clan; Khloe is getting her own talk show on the FYI Network. The show will be called Kocktails with Khloe (and the odds are she has no idea that cocktails doesn’t actually start with the letter K.

This new talk show comes just in time to distract Khloe from her divorce from Lamar Odom, which has become official. Khloe first filed for divorce back in 2013.

On the heels of his breakup with Kourtney Kardashian, Scott Disick has to find a new way to support himself. So in true Hollywood fashion, he held a party in Las Vegas recently where fans could pay to hang out with him. For his troubles he was paid an undisclosed amount over $50,000.

The Kardashian/Jenner clan continues to make gossip headlines with the fact that Caitlyn (fka Bruce) is struggling with the fact that even though she is technically a woman now, she still has a man’s voice. She has publically stated that it is difficult for most people to understand a transition from one gender to the other and that she is trying to change that now.

Proving that Caitlyn is already making an impact on the entertainment world is Eminem’s recent freestyle rap performance where her name is mentioned. He made sure to state that when he includes a celebrity in one of his rap performances it’s usually not personal.

Sean Combs a.k.a. P Diddy, recently had to have surgery on his knee. He was photographed leaving a hospital, wheelchair bound, with crutches. The photograph was posted to his Instagram account along with a caption that said he delayed surgery for two years.

The latest celebrity Twitter feud between Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj has reportedly come to an end. Taylor Swift lashed out at Nicki Minaj for talking badly about her on Twitter. She then retracted her lash out and said that she had misunderstood the meaning of Nicki’s tweets and that she was sorry she lashed out at her. Not that Nicki Minaj isn’t used to that. And unlike, Taylor Swift, who has friend Ed Sheeran in her corner, Nicki has no one in hers. To play a prank on Taylor and Nicki for having a Twitter spat, Ed Sheeran got into a comical Twitter spat with Bruno Mars.

Nick Cannon’s constantly busy work schedule has caught up with him as he recently landed in the hospital for exhaustion. Having been diagnosed with Lupus, Cannon has yet to slow down and put his health before his career (which isn’t half of what it was when he was married to Mariah Carey.) He wrote on his Instagram account that he needs to learn to slow down and rest more often but that he likens himself to a superhero to justify why he is always so busy.

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are divorcing, reportedly because he has been cheating on her with an undisclosed fellow country music artist. Whether it’s true or not Blake’s PR people claim that Miranda cheated on him first. Once they signed their divorce papers Blake apparently ordered Miranda to get her pets out of the house the couple had been sharing.

MTV recently found themselves in hot water with the Parents Television Council after the network asked Miley Cyrus to host this year’s Video Music Awards ceremony. The Council released a statement saying that if Miley hosts the awards they won’t be able to allow their kids to watch it. No word on who MTV intends to choose instead.

Rumors are that Joe Jonas and Gigi Hadid are dating and these rumors have been fueled partly by the fact that the two were spotted departing a NY to LA flight and whisked into a waiting car.

A year- long romance between Rita Ora and Ricky Hill recently ended. An inside source states that the couple made a mutual decision to part ways because work obligations were keeping them apart. Ora is also known for having dated Taylor Swift’s current boyfriend, Calvin Harris.

Taylor Swift recently gave props to Lady Gaga for the role she played in helping Taylor land a new boyfriend. Apparently Lady Gaga tweeted to Taylor that she was a sweetheart and her Prince Charming would come. And, according to Taylor, he has. This is evidenced by the fact that in recent interviews Calvin has gushed about his relationship with Taylor.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was recently spotted in an L.A. bar with his girlfriend and he entertained the crowd with a cover of “The Real Slim Shady.” His girlfriend cheered him on the whole time, but there has been no word as to how the crowd reacted to Daniel’s performance.

Wrapping up this week’s celebrity gossip, much to fans’ chagrin rumors are swirling that in light of recent events, including Zayn Malik leaving the band, that One Direction might be taking an extended break from making music together. In a recent interview with the UK magazine The Sun, music producer Simon Cowell stated that the band is in the position to be able to take a break from working for a while and that he hopes eventually they perform together again.

ashley madison hacked 37 million cheatersThe adultery-centered dating site Ashley-Madison has been breached and 37 million customers are in danger of being exposed. That’s a lot of cheaters. In other news, flower and jewelry shops are accepting pre-orders expecting a potential customer increase. Paid marriage counselors and divorce lawyers are cancelling their planned vacations as well. Seriously, the breach is very bad news for Ashley-Madison and its customers. It’s not uncommon for hackers to attack various websites to promote a principle or a good cause. In this case, preventing the increase of adultery. The group which calls itself the Impact Team is threatening to expose the Ashley-Madison’s 37 million customers for the low, low price of stopping their operations.

The problem with Ashley-Madison was that it acted like a garden-variety blog with paid membership. The site was somewhat generic with its membership procedures and payments. Of course making the site as easy to use as Facebook is very important. Unfortunately, the site didn’t take privacy and security very seriously despite its very private theme. Their database is not well encrypted, if it was at all. The payment system was through easily traceable credit cards and not bitcoins. But not everyone is well versed at bitcoins nor are aware of its existence.

It’s hard to blame the site for cutting corners with regards to privacy and security in order to make the website as easy to use, to make an already widespread activity much easier and to make loads of money for this new idea that someone might copy next week. The security and privacy didn’t seem much to begin with. Resourceful partners could check if their partners were cheating just by taking advantage of the site’s password reset feature. A failed attempt at resetting will actually expose an entered email address as belonging to a member. Ashley-Madison should also have kept an encrypted database readable only by whatever in-house system they had. The hackers apparently have real names and addresses in their possession and possibly credit card numbers. The credit cards can easily be cancelled or secured but what’s really damaging are the names of their owners.

The Impact Team can simply put up a site with a searchable page where husbands and wives can search through to check if their partners were cheating on them. Those found positive could face severe repercussions to their personal and family relationships. To say that Ashley-Madison is in deep trouble is an understatement. If they can’t negotiate their way out with the Impact Team, they will have to shut down or face lawsuits from its members for their lack of security.

The only thing the site can be complimented for with regards to privacy was its “paid delete” policy where members would have to pony up to have their data deleted completely. But even that “deleted” data may also be compromised.

So what’s the moral of this story? If you’re going to cheat, find a more secure site, or don’t do it over the internet. Better yet, don’t do it at all. Stick to porn.

 

Paid Apps Become Free, Including the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

This is a follow-up to my recent free apps article. In the world of apps the paid ones are often better. More features, better tested and has customer support. The problem with paid apps, especially legacy apps in the Windows ecosystem, is that they’re often expensive. With iOS and Android, apps can be priced very low because a well-made app worth 1 dollar can make it up with thousands of downloads and they’re cheap enough that users won’t mind downloading and scrapping them in case they turn out to be junk. The iOS and Android market is a free-for-all. With Windows, the market can be fierce with small companies going against already big names. Even small markets such as utilities are filled with paid and free competitors. But that’s life.

Though there are many free Windows apps out there, they might not make the cut. Plus, they could be dangerous. One Google search and those big download links and huge blinking download buttons could get you in a very bad way. But there’s a way to get paid software for free. No, they’re not in Davey-Jones locker but a real legitimate way.

This author stumbled upon Give Away of the Day years ago. This site gives away a paid piece of software every day for 24 hours. It’s a way for small software companies to promote their apps by making them available for free on the site. The grapevine and social media will do the rest and could be beneficial for the software company if the software goes in demand after the 24-hour promotion.

It promotes various types of software, mostly useful tools but sometimes very obscure niche programs at the level of computer science homework. These programs include PDF editors, multimedia converters, text editors, image viewers, interface enhancers, disk utilities and a whole lot more. The site also promotes paid games, often for casual gamers.

You can’t go to the site looking for specific software unfortunately. You’ll just have to wait until a good one comes along or find something you might want to use some day. Also, like the title says, the good the bad and the ugly. Some are real gems. Many are okay and some are just open to judgment.

To download an app, simply visit the site and check out the current offering. There’s a large button saying Proceed to Download. Simply click it to see the full details of the app. Click the “download it now” link. The other one will install a tool called Software Informer which will inform you of the site’s daily offerings and then some. After clicking the download link, the app will download as a zip file. Open the zip file and follow the instructions on the accompanying text file which also includes the app’s registration key. Install the app on the same day of the offering or it won’t register successfully. You’ll have to exercise some caution though as some bad apps manage to slip through and could register as malware. There’s a small community of users with comments on the software’s usefulness or whether the software is a threat. Happy downloading.

ballers 102 raise up recap images“Ballers'” lead man Spencer Strassmore had a little more success in this week’s episode. Although Dwayne Johnson‘s character had to put up with more ridiculous behavior from the athletes he is looking to sign, he finally landed a big name in Vernon Littlefield. Although judging by the size of this player’s entourage of leeches I don’t know how much money there is going to be left to actually manage in a few years.

I found myself mumbling “sooo stupid” at least three times during the show as I watched the idiocy of these rich athletes just pissing away their money. I’m a little harsh on these guys when in actuality they are no different than most of us average Americans who make dumb financial moves with regularity. They just have bigger bank accounts to make the more visible money mistakes.

I’m giving it about two more episodes before I fully hate Ricky Jerret. This character is exactly what fans hate about diva wide receivers. Wide outs think way too much of themselves and are spiteful that they can’t throw the ball to themselves. They basically have QB envy. Oh and I don’t think much of Ricky’s beautiful girlfriend Annabella either. She is apparently fine with him having sex with other women near toilets. Typical of many real life athletes’ wives I am afraid.

We got to witness the first showdown between Spence and a hanger-on named Reggie. This moocher is Vernon’s “handler,” but his only qualification is being childhood buddies with the all pro baller. My hope is that Reggie gets killed off in some kind of crab leg poisoning incident or at the very least gets “The People’s Elbow” dropped on him by Spence.

The good news for Ricky Jerret is that he is on time to his first day of training camp. The bad news is he is driving a car that is worth more than he will make in the last 15 years of his life. This guy is pissed because he doesn’t have “his” #18 jersey so he offers the guy who owns the number about $40K for it. This really happens in the NFL folks! I know numbers are special, even to fans, but damn. Surely there is something better he can do with 40 large.

Once again we see just how ill prepared Spence is to be a financial manager.  He’s late on payments and getting calls from the bank. Dude doesn’t even know he has two accounts with that bank! He has to transfer those funds to cover the overdrawn account. He innocently asks if perhaps there is a third account he is unaware of, but is told no. Hilarious. That is one way rich athletes could hang on to some extra money…..hide it from themselves. The pill popping continues as well.

ballers 102 recap charles breaking stool with wife 2015Our boy Charles Greane is getting recruited by the Dolphins at the car lot. Dude doesn’t really want to play football but is going to be talked into it. He says he is enjoying the easy life of a car salesman and the air conditioned office. The paychecks are going to be a big letdown however and that will lead him back to the sweaty gridiron banging heads with defensive lineman during two-a-days. Charles may be the most level headed guy on the show, including Spence. His wife is not only funny but is also smokin.

Spence and his boss Joe have an uncomfortable lunch with Vernon and his crew of do-nothings. Poor Joe ends up picking up the check per Reggie’s demands to the “worm.”  Reg is a total dick with no talent or skill. He just lucked up as a kid and latched onto a future NFL star. Guys like Reggie are all around pro athletes. For every athlete that crashes and burns, you can bet there was a Reggie whispering bad advice in his ear. The fact that Vernon’s agent didn’t wrap up a new contract with Dallas will loom over this player the entire season and I predict a bad outcome that will cost him and Spence huge dollars.

After the expensive lunch Spence does close the deal on Vernon. Reggie is still in the mix so even though Spencer hooked a big fish he will have a constant headache dealing with this clown.

Overall I’d say this episode was as good as last week’s. It remains to be seen if the characters around The Rock can make us care about them. So far I don’t care if Ricky catches 100 balls for Miami or if he tears his ACL in training camp. Maybe that will change, maybe not. I do like Charles and his wife of course so I’d like to see his story turn out for the good. Vernon, I don’t have much of an opinion on yet. He seems like a decent guy who just can’t say no to his friends. That will be his undoing most likely. I can see his career going down the drain with some kind of off the field incident caused by his boy Reg.

Of course I want Spencer to have success as a financial advisor. It’s obvious he has no business managing anyone’s money by the way he has jacked up his own affairs. But as Joe told him, he is just there to use his network of athletes. Spence is just a jock in a tailored suit, but you can’t help but like the guy. We shall see if his it factor is enough to overcome the “sooo stupid” factor that afflicts all the guys he needs as clients.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the ever changing “Hannibal” drama, here is what’s fresh on the block. At the Hannibal comic-con it was revealed that Amazon is not picking up the show because they wanted Bryan Fuller to complete an entire season in 6 months. I mean really, have they seen this show? It is so beautiful and well-crafted that it is impossible for something so amazing to be produced in just 6 months. Netflix can’t own it because their rival Amazon owns it. Why Hulu is not flying in to rescue them I don’t know. What is encouraging is that Bryan Fuller says he’s trying to get Hannibal back on the silver screen. That would be amazing as the entire series just screams to be on the bog screen!

And now NBC won’t let it die with dignity. They’ve banished it off to Saturday  night which is a horrible night for television and replaced it with another completely unnecessary episode of deadline. If I didn’t like Grimm so much I’d boycott NBC all together. But trust, I won’t be watching anything by them anytime soon!

hannibal 306 mads mikkelsen recap 2015This episode had many shocks and surprises throughout and was truly an edge of your seat episode. It was sexy, gruesome and stylish (as usual). Beat up and scrambled, Hannibal arrives back home to where Bedelia is seen cleaning him up. Bedelia springs a surprise on Hannibal even I didn’t see coming. She informs him that this is where she leaves him. I didn’t think Bedelia had it in her to pull away from Hannibal so boldly, but she does. Hannibal is sad because he intended to say good-bye to Bedelia by cooking and eating her. Bedelia has already figured that out, that’s why she’s trying to get the hell out of dodge!

I was shocked that after all they’d been through he was still going to eat her! You can never, ever truly trust Hannibal though!

As much as I love this show, I find it completely ridiculous when Jack confesses he didn’t kill Hannibal because he needs Will to do it personally. Seriously? That’s ridiculous. Jack kicked Hannibal’s ass and would have been more than willing to kill him. But, it keeps the strange friendship between Hannibal and Will alive so we’re forced to go with it.

We’re then taken to the even more twisted world surrounding Mason who is preparing to eat Hannibal. Him and his twisted therapist and assistant Cordell practice eating Hannibal’s finger tips by consuming pigtails. Really, if you need to practice consuming another human being you’re even more twisted. Mason awakes from a lovely dream of eating Hannibal, glazed duck style, to find himself surrounded by Alana, Margot and Cordell. They inform him that Pazzi failed miserably to capture Hannibal.

In one of the most twisted scenes of the show, Margot goes to Mason and explains they have secured the entire Florence police force. Instead of just giving a normal thank you, he starts to rant about how he regrets sterilizing her for sleeping with Will. He wishes they could have a baby together and his twisted ass really believes he would make a good father. I was just sitting there with my mouth hanging open as this guy is pure psychotic.

What followed was an even more shocking and head spinning sex scene between Alana and Margot (surprise!). Toning down the kaleidoscopic effect would have made it easier to appreciate how beautiful the scene was. Sometimes Hannibal gets a little too artsy for it’s own good. After the passionate session, Alana reveals to Margot she plans to turn Mason in to the FBI once Hannibal is captured. Margot does ask Alana the strange question of whether she knows anything about sperm harvesting. A mighty strange question to ask; Alana doesn’t respond.

Chiyoh and Bedelia come face to face as Bedelia prepares to get high on some untold drug. The women bond over being held captive by Hannibal. Chiyoh explains she is concerned that someone (referring to Will) is trying to kill Hannibal. At that, Bedelia realizes Will isn’t Hannibal’s biggest mistake, it was crossing Chiyoh.

hannibal will head sliced off 306After getting extremely high, Badelia answers the door with Will and Jack standing before her. She tries to convince them she honestly believes she is Lydia ( the woman’s identity she assumed). They don’t believe, it however, we do find out this is the same mind altering drug Miriam Lass was forced to take. As long as Bedelia continues to shoot up she will remain lost in her memory. Will sneaks off only to find Hannibal sketching at a nearby museum. The homoerotic tones seep in again as they virtually exchange I love you’s. Hannibal and Will walk out of the museum side-by-side when it is revealed that Will has a blade. Will is then shot in she shoulder by a hiding Chiyoh with a sniper’s scope.

hannibal 306 recap images 2015Will wakes up totally at the mercy of Hannibal with him dressing his oozing wound. It’s no surprise that Will has walked right in to a damn trap! He’s drugged and then wakes up at a dinner table. Will notices there are 3 place settings and they wait for the third guest to arrive. As Jack finally shows up after sharing a strange elevator ride with Chiyoh, he also falls victim to Hannibal’s trap as he spots Will tired to the chair, but then quickly has his Achilles Heel sliced.

Jack then also wakes up at the table tied to a chair. Hannibal then takes a small saw and puts it to Will’s scalp as Jack screams in horror! I screamed too as I just did not see that coming! Will begins to pass out as he has his scalped removed only to wake up hanging upside down beside a slew of pigs…..and Hannibal Mason rolls his evil self in and welcomes them into Muskrat Farms!

This episode was filled with exciting twists and turns along with plenty of blood and gore. Now that Hannibal AND Will are both in the crazy clutches of Mason, what kind of craziness will ensue in next weeks episode (sadly thrown on Saturday night as an after thought)?

Today, the family has made it official that the young woman has died.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, has died at age 22. She had been found unconscious in the bathtub of her Roswell, Ga., home on Jan. 31 and rushed to a nearby hospital. She died in in a long-term care facility in Atlanta, according to People.

“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family,” her family toldPeople in a statement. “She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

Bobbi Kristina, an aspiring singer, was discovered by her husband, Nick Gordon, and friends on Jan. 31. Once transferred to the medical facility, she was placed on a ventilator and had reportedly stabilized before her brain functions began to diminish substantially.

Brown was the only child of Houston and Brown, who divorced when she was a teenager. She was also part of a long dynasty of performers; her maternal grandmother was the gospel singerCissy Houston, and Whitney Houston was the cousin of Dionne Warwick. Brown shared her relatives’ musical aspirations; she dueted with her mother many times before Houston’s passing, including on Houston’s album One Wish: The Holiday Album and during a high-profile, televised concert in Central Park. She also appeared on the Lifetime reality show The Houstons: On Our Own.

In 2014, Brown married Gordon, a longtime friend who had lived with the Houstons as a child and whom Brown had referred to as a “big brother” previously. After the media speculated about the nature of their union, and if Gordon had been adopted by Houston, Brown retorted on her Facebook, page, saying, “My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating. My mom knows me better than any of you.”

Brown’s untimely death shares a tragic similarity with her mother’s passing; Whitney Houston was found dead in a bathtub on Feb. 11, 2012, at age 48. The death was caused by accidental drowning, heart disease and cocaine use.

After Brown was found in her bathtub, her cousin YF Kennedy told E! News that the family wasn’t sure why she had been found unresponsive. “Krissi doesn’t do drugs,” he said. “She hasn’t been drinking or doing drugs and she’s cut down on cigarettes. She’s been trying to get her music together and keep her voice clean. Her voice is so beautiful.”

He added that Brown had struggled with the upcoming anniversary of her mother’s death. “She’s still been going through the grieving stages but is trying to keep her spirits up,” he said. “She’s been going to the gym every day with her husband and trying to be happy. She swims a lot.. It’s a rough time lately with the anniversary… This is a blow to the family.”

In the days prior to her death, Bobbi Kristina was active on social media, referencing her late mother as well as her career ambitions on Twitter.

With all the mysteries surrounding the cause of her coma, and then around the final week of her death, there will be plenty of conspiracy theories to keep book publishers in business for several years.

leah brandon jenner baby girl born 2015 gossip caitlynLeah Jenner took to her Instagram to share that she gave birth to her new baby on Wednesday. The singer, alongside her husband Brandon Jenner (Caitlyn Jenner’s son), welcomed their first child, who is a healthy baby girl.

In the announcement, Leah shared:

“On Wednesday, July 22nd I became a Mom. It has without a doubt been the most profoundly beautiful time in my life but also emotionally, spiritually and physically challenging too… and I am grateful for every second of it. Brandon and I are taking care of our healthy, little baby girl, Eva James Jenner.”

The couple has been relatively private about the pregnancy, although Leah has taken to Instagram to share her bump numerous times.

Surely the rest of the Jenner-Kardashian clan are excited to meet Eva and now the countdown is very much on for the birth of the next family baby – Kim and Kanye’s second child, who is due in a couple of months.

snoop dog arrested in sweden 2015 gossip racial profilingWhile in Sweden, rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested as officials had suspicion that he had been using illegal drugs.

The outspoken 43-year-old, who was detained on Saturday and shortly released after taking a number of drug and alcohol related tests by police, posted a series of Instagram videos where he rants about the Swedish police.

Shortly after, the rapper posted a video from seemingly the back of a police car, saying:

“On my way to a police station in Sweden. Sorry about that, all the fans in Sweden. I’ll never be back to this country. Ya’ll can thank your police chief and all the people that run your police department. It’s been real. Thank you, but I’m gone.”

Snoop also added the caption “ftp” (F**k the police) to the video.

Daniel Nilsson, a spokesperson for the Swedish police, told The Local, a Swedish news outlet, that the police were in the midst of roadside controls when they saw Snoop Dogg’s car pulled over, and the rapper “seemed to be under the influence of narcotics.”

He went on to explain that the rapper “was arrested and taken to the police station to take a urine test. The incident lasted several minutes. Once the test was carried out, [Snoop Dogg] left.”

However, the official results of the tests have not been revealed and therefore it is unclear whether the suspicions of Snoop Dogg being under the influence were confirmed or not. Although it would not be surprising as marijuana extracts are classified as illegal narcotics in Sweden. Therefore, it doesn’t seem that big of a stretch that the rapper, who is known for his public adoration for marijuana, to have been under the influence or have the drug in his possession.

After the detainment, Snoop posted a couple more videos claiming the incident was due to “racial [profiling]” and that the Swedish police didn’t “find s—t” in his test samples. In typical Snoop Dogg-fashion, the rapper concluded the commentary with “F—k the police. And I’m still smoking.”
