American League Week 16 Recap: Yanks, Royals, Angels & Astros Fight For Top Spot

yankees fight for top spot american league week 16 mlb 2015The Major League Baseball action continues to heat up around the American League as four teams continue to battle it out for the best record. These teams include the New York Yankees, the Kansas City Royals, the Los Angeles Angels and the Houston Astros. Currently the Royals hold the best record in the American League at 60-38 entering Tuesday Night.

The Royals have been hot of late winning three straight as well as seven of their past ten to move their lead to eight games in the American League Central. The team opened up the week falling to the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-7 before taking the next two games. In those two games the Royals pitching dominated as they held the Pirates offense to just two runs.

After taking two of three, the Royals fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in a one game makeup before losing the opening game of a three game series with the Astros. The winning would return as the team started their current three game winning streak. The first two of those three wins came against the second place Astros holding them to just two runs over the final 18 innings before taking game on against the Cleveland Indians on Monday.

Now we have a chance to take a look at all three of the American League Divisions after another important week of baseball is in the books.

American League East: The Yankees continue to be the team to beat in the American League East through the last week of July after the team’s third straight win. The win on Monday Night against the Texas Rangers pushed the Yankees record to 56-42 for the season and keep their current lead to seven games over both the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles.

Last week the Yankees continued their hot play as the Orioles came to town looking to make up ground on the first place team. Instead the Orioles would head to Tampa Bay failing to pick up a win losing all three games. In the three game series the Yankees managed to hold the Orioles to just eight total runs not allowing more than three runs in any given game. The team would follow up the sweep by taking two of three against the Minnesota Twins before Mondays win.

While the Yankees have been hot, the Blue Jays might be even hotter as the team elected to trade Jose Reye and prospects to the Colorado Rockies on Monday. The move in return will send All-Star short stop Troy Tulowitzki to Toronto to form one of the best lineups in all of baseball. On the field the Yankees managed to go just 5-5 over their past ten games including just 3-3 last week against the Oakland A’s and Seattle Mariners.

Rounding out the rest of the American League East is the Tampa Bay Rays at 50-51 then the Boston Red Sox at 44-56 after losing eight of their past ten games.

American League Central: In the Central, the Royals continue to look over their shoulder as they have built an eight game lead over the second place Twins. Much of the separation has come over the past ten games as the Royals have won seven of those games while the Twins are just 4-6 in that same stretch of baseball.

The Royals also made a big splash last week to acquire one of the games top starters from the National League in Johnny Cueto. Cueto who picked up his seventh win of the season on Saturday for the Cincinnati Reds, will make his first start this coming week for the Royals. While the Royals have entered the trade deadline as buyers the one question many wonder is if the Detroit Tigers will elect to sell.

The Tigers currently sit 12.5 games behind the Royals and hold just a game lead over the Chicago White Sox in the standings. Over their past ten games, the Tigers have managed to win just three games splitting a series with the Seattle Mariners before losing two off three to the Red Sox before losing Monday to the Rays. Another few loses this week and we could see both David Price and Yoenis Cespedes depart before the weekend.

Rounding out the American League Central is the red hot White Sox who have won five straight games entering Tuesday Night while the Cleveland Indians sit in last place after losing five straight.

American League West: out West, it continues to be a two team race between the Angels and Astros for the top spot. Currently the Angels hold a slight one game lead over the Astros after winning seven of their past ten games. That being said those three games came in their last four losing the last game of  three game series to the Twins before losing the first two against the Texas Rangers.

Both of these teams have been busy hitting the trade market as the Astros were able to acquire hometown starter Scott Kazmir while the Angels add both David Murphy and David DeJesus to add some left hand presence in their lineup. Kazmir was brilliant in his first start on Friday Night for the Astros going seven innings allowing zero runs while striking out three picking up his first win with the team.

The rest of the American League West have struggled to play winning ball for a long period of time. This has landed the Rangers in third place at 47-51, the Mariners in fourth place at 46-54 and the A’s at 44-56. Outside of the top two teams this might be the biggest disappointment division in all of baseball as many expected all three of these teams to have played winning ball to this point.

National League Week 16 Recap: Cardinals Still On Top

st louis cardinals top national league week 16 2015 mlbThe St. Louis Cardinals continue to be the top team in the National League before the All-Star break and now after. The Cardinals are 7-3 over there last ten games helping them build a 5.5 game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League Central Division. The team’s ability to produce with runners in scoring position as well as the team’s ability to pitch.

The more we look at the Cardinals roster the more impressed we are with how they have played not only this past week but the entire season. The Cardinals roster is not built around super stars like Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Mike Trout or even Bryce Harper. The team does spend money but they aren’t in the same league as the Los Angeles Dodgers, Angels or the New York Yankees.

That being said the team gets a ton of production from a variety of differnet players. This year the team has had a ton of success from Jhonny Peralta, Kolten Wong and Matt Carpenter in the lineup. On the mound, the Cardinals have been carried by John Lackey, Carlos Martinez, Michael Wacha and Lance Lynn. These four have combined to go 39-18 in 78 starts pitching to a 2.80 earned run average.

Down the stretch the question we have is which other team in the National League will challenge the Cardinals for the best record?

Now we have a chance to take a look at all three of the National League Divisions after another important week of baseball is in the books.

National League East: The National League East is much like the American League East despite the continue success of the Washington Nationals in the top spot of the division. That being said the Nationals haven’t been able to run away with the division this season as they only hold a one game lead over the New York Mets.

Much of this slight separation in the division has been due to the Nationals recent struggles this past week. The Nationals opened the week taking two of three from the New York Mets to push their lead in the division before losing three of four against the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend. In that series the teams pitching struggled allowing 14 runs over the first two games of the series. The teams struggles continued this week as they fell to the Miami Marlins 4-1 on Tuesday.

While the Nationals have struggled to put together a long winning streak they have allowed the Mets to Mets to move within one game. After a rough week for the Mets that included losing two of three to the Nationals before splitting their four game series with the Dodgers including winning back to back games over the weekend before picking up game 1 of the three game series with San Diego Padres on Tuesday.

Outside of the top two teams the hottest team in the division has been the last place Philadelphia Phillies. Since the All-star break, the Phillies are 9-1 including going 6-1 this past week with series win over the Tampa Bay Rays, a three game sweep of the Chicago Cubs before an opening game win on Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Phillies pitching has bene solid in this stretch allowing less than three runs in seven games.

The other two teams the Atlanta Braves sit in third place while the Miami Marlins sit in fourth place.

National League Central: In the National League Central Division the Cardinals continue to hold the top spot with a 64-36 record. Following them in the standings are the Pittsburgh Pirates at 58-41, the Chicago Cubs at 52-47, the Cincinnati Reds at 44-54 and the Milwaukee Brewers in last place at 44-57. Three of the five teams are in the playoff picture making the National League Central as one of the top divisions in all of baseball.

While the Cardinals have been the hottest team in the division after going 7-3 last week the rest of the division failed to put together a better record than .500 last week. One of those teams was the Pirates who have been hanging around in second place after a strong finish to the first half. Last week the Pirates picked up a big 10-7 win on Monday to open the week against the Kansas City Royals but the team couldn’t build any ground losing the next two games while scoring only two runs. Since that point, the Pirates have been hot wining four of five including three against the Nationals before a 8-7 win on Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins.

The other playoff team in the division the Chicago Cubs has struggled this past week despite picking up two of three wins to open the week over the Cincinnati Reds. Following the series with the Reds, the Cubs would be swept by the last place Phillies allowing 21 runs in the three game series. The Cubs would split the first of two against the Coloardo Rockies to open the week.

National League West: Then you move out West to a division that should be interesting to watch down the stretch as the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to hold a slight half game lead over the San Francisco Giants. Outside of these two teams it looks to be only a two team race as the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies have all failed to make significant ground on the top two teams despite those two teams struggling at points.

While the Dodgers currently hold the top spot in the National League West their recent play has allowed the Giants to make up some ground. The struggles started last Monday as they welcomed the Atlanta Braves. The Dodgers would lose the first two games before picking up the third game of the series and the first two of the next series against the Mets. Unfortunately the Dodgers couldn’t build any type of ground in the division as they would lose back to back to split the series with the Mets before losing the opening game against the Oakland A’s on Tuesday

One major flaw for the Dodgers this season has been their starting pitching outside of Clayton Kershaw and Zach Greinke. While the Dodgers have struggled, the Giants have made up some ground winning nine of their 11 games after the All-Star break. This includes the team taking two of three to open the week again to the Padres before sweeping the Oakland A’s over the weekend. The Giants would open up this week splitting the first of two against the Milwaukee Brewers.

For the rest of this division it should be an interesting next couple of days as the trade deadline approaches. The Rockies have already made one big move sending Troy Tulowtizki to Toronto for Jose Reyes and prospects. We expect the team to also move Reyes before the deadline as well as a potential deal to send Carlos Gonzalez away. Then you have the Padres who many believe could unload potential stars like James Shields and well as Justin Upton before 4 pm Et on Friday.

The playoff race in the National League should be an interesting one as teams fight for the final two wild card spots as well as both the East and West division.

The hump day grind is so real. We are half way through the week and people are destroying phones like Tom Brady or taking on Meek Mill like Drake and Nicki Minaj’s ex Safaree Samuels.

Drake is definitely at it again and this time he isn’t leaving anything to chance. I mean if we didn’t know he was talking about Meek Mill before, there is pretty much no shadow of a doubt that he is now.

And the lyrics makes me believe even more that Nicki has something to do with their private beef that has become very public as he makes reference to her several times in his second diss track “Back to Back.”

“You love her, then you gotta give the world to her. Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour? I know that you gotta be a thug for her. This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more…I don’t wanna hear about this ever again. Not even when she tell ’em that they better as friends.”

And that’s not even the half of it. Aside from throwing shade about Meek’s relationship with Nicki, he majorly disses the Philly rapper on starting something he doesn’t seem to want to finish.

“Whoa, very important and very pretentious. When I look back I might be made that I gave this attention. Yeah but it’s weighting heavy on my conscience. Yeah, and fuck you left a boy no options….Yeah, trigger fingers turn to twitter fingers

I am waiting to see what Meek will say next, although he might not say anything because of Nicki. But he did start it and I really like Meek so I hope he shows that he can finish it… or at least get some jabs in there.

And he definitely has some words for Meek.

“When you was pulling up, I was pulling out… I know real shit I ain’t gonna talk about…I seen the text messages, I seen the emails…Somebody tell me why he’s talking like a female,”

Well, they aren’t the most lyrical of lyrics but there is probably some truth to them.

If this chick is not “misspeaking” about her blackness (or lack thereof), she is ruffling the feathers of other celebrities with her words. All I keep saying to myself when I see her on TV or hear anything that she says is what the hell was The View thinking when they added her to their payroll.

Anyway, she is at it again this time saying Caitlyn Jenner has “got to learn it first” referring to the LGBTQ community.

“I think it’s wonderful, and yes, it needs a light being shined on it…”When I came out, I didn’t go and go hardcore and be like, ‘I’m going to save the world for LGBT…’ You’ve got to learn it. You’ve got to learn it first, and she’s not, really.”

In response to Rosie Perez mentioning that possibly Caitlyn was waiting for the most opportune time to help further the conversation, Raven said,

“Well, I think you can be strategic before you come out as well…Before [I came out], I was definitely repping the community, even when I wasn’t saying this is what I was. And I’m not faulting [Caitlyn], because yes, we need [her]. It’s too fast, too soon.”

I don’t know, it almost kind of sounds like she is hating because I don’t quit understand what she is talking about. “Too fast, too soon?” When is being an example and living your life “too fast, too soon?”

Oh Tom Brady. It is very interesting to me that he is declaring his innocence in the whole “deflategate” situation, but yet some of his actions have been directly opposite of someone who is innocent.

He very proudly stated, via his Facebook page, “neither I, nor any equipment person, did anything of which we have been accused.”

He went on further to express his disappointment in the NFL upholding their decision to suspend him four games and is upset that Goodell “dismissed my hours of testimony, and it is disappointing that he found it unreliable.”

And in reference to the phone that he “destroyed” he says,

“I replaced my broken Samsung phone with a new iPhone 6 AFTER my attorneys made it clear to the N.F.L. that my actual phone device would not be subjected to investigation under ANY circumstances.”

Here’s my thing, something happened that someone made happened causing the situation. It was not a fluke or an isolated event. And of course no one would ever admit to it really doing it because then, ya know… it would show the double standard that exists.

Five months after a four-game suspension was announced for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for his role in Deflate-Gate, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell finally upheld the decision.

Brady’s intent to appeal was announced basically immediately after the original suspension was made public, but every part of the process seemed to take a lifetime. It took months for the hearing to even take place, and then the hearing itself took 10 hours.

Goodell (surprise, surprise) was part of the ridiculous delay as Brady’s side fought to have him removed as arbitrator and blah blah blah. And then it took him another handful of weeks to finally decide that the suspension is going to be upheld.

So that’s it, right? Brady is going to take his lumps like a man, much like owner Robert Kraft did with the fine and loss of draft pick? After all, he pretty clearly had something to hide. I mean, who destroys their phone and SIM Card just as the private investigator and NFL are calling for it?

“Brady’s deliberate destruction of potentially relevant evidence went beyond a mere failure to cooperate in the investigation,” stated the NFL in its ruling, “and supported a finding that he had sought to hide evidence of his own participation in the underlying scheme to alter the footballs.”

Even Goodell—a good personal friend Kraft and a very lenient disciplinarian of the franchise during Brady and head coach Bill Belichick’s first cheating scandal, Spygate—described Brady as “engaged in conduct detrimental to the integrity of, and public confidence in, the game of professional football.”

Well, to answer the early questions I posed: No, Hell No, and apparently Tom Brady.

That’s right, Brady plans to drag this on a bit more by suing the entire NFL, claiming that it is “Common Practice” for him to destroy his old phones and SIM Cards. Apparently Brady just goes through phones like the average American goes through chips and dip while watching him on TV.

We get it, Tom. You make more money than us. But honestly, the fact that he destroyed his phone completely makes me suspicious about other things.

Let’s be honest, no ball boy would willingly jeopardize his spot with the team by altering balls without the quarterback’s say so. There’s no way these kids would risk screwing something up by deflating a ball unless Brady told them to. That should be common sense.

The scary thing to me is that Brady was so vehemently against giving up his texts that he destroyed his phone. More than 75 percent of the country already thinks he’s a cheater. But to completely destroy the phone and SIM Card? My question now is what else is Brady hiding?

Just something to think about. Either way, looks like we’re in for another month or two of unnecessary drama in football.

Unfortunately, before she deleted it, plenty of her fans took screenshots of the image and it circulated, which lead people to believe that Kaitlyn had accidentally given away the winner of her season.

Yesterday was the season finale of The Bachelorette and it seems like the SnapChat was in fact a spoiler.

While the newly engaged couple was being interviewed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Kaitlyn and Shawn finally broke their silence about the whole incident.

Shawn explained,

“We were sending Snaps to one of the producers…[And then] I pick up my phone to go on Twitter, and there’s hundreds of pictures of my stupid face laying in bed with her. I started having a panic attack. I couldn’t even breathe.”

Kaitlyn adding,

“We went to full panic mode.”

They both revealed that the producers at ABC were very angry about the whole ordeal, however, it has not been reported whether there was any monetary punishment or not (note: there is a clause in The Bachelorette contract about releasing anything that could give away the ending).

Raven admits “it was definitely hard” trying to maintain a healthy body image while growing up surrounded by producers and high-powered executives.

The 29-year-old recounts,

“I remember not being able to have the bagel or anything at [craft services]- we call it crafty – where it’s just a table of food ready for you to eat whenever you want. And I remember people were like, ‘you can’t eat that. You’re getting fat.’ I’m like ‘I’m 7! I’m hungry!’”

Earlier, she revealed to People magazine that the pressure for her to not gain weight was constant, “even until [she] got to 180 pounds on That’s So Raven.”

After the Disney show ended in 2007, the star took a break from Hollywood, as she “was really stressed out.”

During this break, Raven was able to focus on her health without all the external pressure. In doing so, she shed nearly 70 pounds. She reveals she felt she was able to do this without “losing an ounce of her identity,” which wasn’t the case when she was being manipulated as a Disney star.

Raven isn’t the only Disney star to battle weight and body image issues. Fellow Disney star Demi Lovato has also been very public about her troubles that arose from the pressure she was under to stay slim while starring on her Disney Show Sonny with a Chance. These issues eventually lead to Lovato entering rehab for an eating disorder and substance abuse. However, since then and leaving Disney, Lovato also has come along way in recovery and leading a healthy life.

fa community arsenal vs chelsea soccer 2015For only the second time in the history of the annual match, Chelsea and Arsenal come together this Sunday. Mark your calendars for August 2, when Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger meet to compete for the first silverware of the season.

The Gunners are the third most successful team in the history of the annual match after Manchester United (20) and Liverpool (15). The North Londoners have won the cup 13 times in contrast to Chelsea’s four triumphs. Last time when these two sides met in this annual event in 2005, Chelsea defeated the Gunners 2 – 1.

Arsenal defeated the former Premier League champions Manchester City 2 – 1 last season to lift the 2014 Community Shield but this time they’ll face a tougher test in Mourinho’s Chelsea. The FA Charity Shield match is the unofficial kickoff of the Premier League season and is contested by the Premier League champions and the FA Cup winners. If a team wins both these trophies then the league runners-up competes for the trophy.

This 93rd Community Shield match will be played at Wembley after both the teams return from their pre-season tours. Petr Cech’s first outing in an Arsenal shirt will be against his former club. The towering goal keeper won almost all the major laurels with the Blues before being replaced by the Belgian keeper Thirbaut Courtois. The 33-year-old moved to Chelsea’s rivals as he didn’t want to move away from London because of his family.

Many are suggesting that Cech’s transfer to Arsenal have made them genuine title contenders. The former Chelsea player’s experience and brilliance will be crucial for Arsene Wenger’s men. Chelsea skipper believes that his former teammate can even save upto 12 or 15 points for his new team.

“There’s talk of Arsenal signing Petr Cech and, if they do get him, he will strengthen them for sure. He will save them 12 or 15 points a season,” the former England skipper told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show.

“Petr was an unbelievable professional last year. When you get left out of the team it can be hard to accept but, when he came in [to the side], he was exceptional.

“He deserves a lot of credit for that. We understand he wants to play first-team football but nobody wants to see him leave the club.

“He’s going to be sorely missed and will improve any side he goes to.”

In their last five matches in all competitions, including the pre-season games, the Gunners have won each of them. The West Londoners’ faultless record was spoiled by New York Red Bulls in the International Champions Cup in the United States. But Chelsea are way ahead of their arch rivals when we compare the last five head to head clashes. Chelsea have had the upper hand in three out of five games and the Gunners have failed to record even a single victory.

The first match of the 2015-16 Premier League season will be played at Old Trafford on August 8 as Van Gaal’s new look Manchester United plays host to Tottenham Hotspurs.

What is the US Doing to Prepare Against a Massive Cyberstrike?

With all the recent hacking of sites, should the US be prepared for a crippling cyber-attack or is it just doomsdayers spouting off?

If you haven’t watched Die Hard’s fourth installment, Live Free and Die Hard, it’s a very fun movie. The fifth installment doesn’t come close. Featured in 2007, many can still relate to it today as almost everything is now more connected and dependent on computers and technology. It also depicts what could happen if the US or any other well-connected country comes under attack by cyber-terrorists. This isn’t a movie review but just to show a very possible scenario when everything is too connected and online and some rogue nation is waiting to destroy it and take advantage of the chaos that follows. If you have watched the movie, you know what I mean; if you haven’t, check it out at Netflix or iTunes then get back to reading.

We are now nearing the era of where everything will be connected. The Internet of Things. Sure, it may be convenient where we all have our personal JARVIS connected to the toaster, the coffee maker, the refrigerator and probably the kitchen sink to tell us that the coffee is ready and the toast is perfectly warmed at 85 degrees Celsius. While en route back home, we can tell the NEST thermostat to warm or cool down the house. But such a level of interconnection can also be dangerous—because of hacking. Take the case of Chrysler where they discovered that their vehicles can be hacked to such a level that it could endanger the occupant. Someone can remotely trigger the squirting mechanism to squirt the windshield without moving the wipers or even mess with the GPS. Imagine another scenario where toasters and thermostats connected to the Internet of Things are simultaneously hacked and even overloaded as to cause fires. And finally, imagine all the country’s stock markets hacked and manipulated or even worse, erased. You might end up saying that this author watched the aforementioned movie a little too much. But some experts apparently agree that a massive hacking attack is imminent and that the security the country employs is sorely lacking. A closer scenario was envisioned in the third Terminator movie, Rise of the Machines where the virus that would become Skynet severely disrupted all online services. If there’s going to be another world war, it will be fought in many fronts; not just by land, sea and air, it will also be fought in the cloud.

In fact, the cloud front may have already started. Take the case of the recent hacking of the United States Office of Personnel Management where hackers, traced back to China hacked away with over 37 million records of federal employees. If that doesn’t look like an attack to steal important information, then it’s the result of some basement kid’s unconventional sense of humor. China has also been accused of hacking into private corporations, other government agencies and military contractors to steal intellectual property and government secrets. The US and China have already traded accusations of hacking, espionage and sabotage and the exchange continues. North Korea also managed to embarrass Sony by hacking into their systems as revenge for putting their leader Kim Jong Un in a bad light in the 2014 movie, The Interview. Other fans of the US with hacking talents include Iran, Russia and ISIS.

And what is the country up to? Connecting potentially dangerous appliances and even vehicles up to the Internet for convenience and corporate monitoring. The Chrysler incident makes this author’s mind wander off to movies like Maximum Overdrive and Will Smith’s I-Robot. But seriously, is such connectivity necessary in the midst of the many reported hacking incidents lately? Are we really ready for the Internet of Things? Has the government beefed up its cyber-security after the OPM incident? Will the Navy reconsider its continued use of Windows XP?

The top cyber-security experts of Silicon Valley seem to agree that by 2020 the US is in for a big one. Not an earthquake that will rip open the San Andreas Fault, but a massive hacker attack from a hostile nation that could rip open the country’s financial foundations and national defense. A country can be brought to its knees either way or worse, both ways. These security experts who come from companies like Hewlett-Packard and Paypal also agree that unless corporate culture with regards to cyber-security isn’t reformed, getting hacked is inevitable. The top reasons why supposedly secure institutions get hacked are:

  • The use of weak passwords used by lazy people or people too busy to be concerned with security.
  • Insufficient security procedures and protocols with regards to transfer and transit of data on storage and mobile devices.
  • Insufficient security infrastructure.

Yet many people are busy sharing various kinds of information over the internet including sensitive ones; complaining about the lack of privacy while sharing intimate and embarrassing information over social media and even recording potentially embarrassing images and storing them over the cloud. It’s almost like Rome falling into complacency and decadence until it gets raided by Visigoths. Only a hacking attack the likes of 9/11 they say, can wake the world up from its stupor. But do we have to wait for such a thing?

Government and corporations need to get their priorities straight. There hardly any news of any agency implementing some new security measure or technology. But maybe the lack of news is for the best in case they are doing something about the holes in their systems. Determined hackers can often be one step ahead when they know what they’re up against.

It seems though that the US has five years to prepare for this new doomsday date (2020). With the right prepping, yes, cyber-prepping; the world can weather another end of the world. Hoping for the best. Taking off the sandwich board now.

The footage shows the couple yelling outside of a taxi near their hotel. LaBeouf is heard telling Mia, “I don’t wanna touch you. I don’t wanna be aggressive. This is the kind of s—t that makes a person abusive.”

I AM CAIT 101: More Depth Without Kardashians

i am cait poster images 2015 cropThe new E! docu-series I Am Cait just had its Sunday night premiere. The series is centered on Caitlyn Jenner, as she tries to find her “new normal” after her public gender transition into a woman.

The show begins with Caitlyn waking up at 4:30 am, as she can’t sleep knowing her Vanity Fair cover will be debuting that day. Soon after, Caitlyn and her “glam squad” watch different news channels as they cover Caitlyn’s VF cover debut.

i am cait recap images 2015She expresses how excited she is to be finally living her true identity and being able to make a difference in the world at the same time.

In addition, after the cover goes public, she receives a call from several of her family members, including Rob Kardashian. Rob has notably been absent from the public eye for the past few years, reportedly due to his weight gain and bouts of depression and anxiety. However, he still made a vocal appearance on I am Cait, giving her a call to congratulate her on the big reveal and to tell her that she “looks amazing.”

Kim also reached out to Caitlyn right away, calling her to congratulate her but also to grill her about her new Twitter account. Kim tells Caitlyn that the head of Twitter said that Caitlyn will break Obama’s twitter record, as she already gained 750k followers on the social media site in just 2 hours.

Between these moments, the show definitely sets itself up to be more of a documentary than what we’ve seen in Jenner’s previous reality show stint on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Caitlyn uses her one-on-one camera time to talk about the more serious issues that are happening within the trans-community. She talks about the elevated suicide and murder rates that trans-people face relative to the general public.

The show also contrasts Caitlyn’s new look, as she dons flowing dresses and high heels with throwback images of Jenner when she competed in the Olympics. It is clear she has come a long way to become who she really is.

It is also revealed that Caitlyn’s stylist, Rhonda, has known about her desire to transition for quite a few years now. She has been a big support and comfort to Caitlyn, as she tries to face her family and friends with the changes she is making.

The first episode is mainly a glimpse into Caitlyn meeting much of her family for the first time – this includes her mother, Esther and her two sisters, Pam and Lisa.

On the car ride over to meet Cait, Esther expresses her hate for the tabloids and all the lies they spread, which she feels made this whole change even more confusing for her. Cait’s sister, Pam talks about how 30 years ago, Bruce had told her that he felt he was destined to be a woman, but Pam thought it was just a phase, especially with his established family life.

When they finally meet, the family is seemingly open and happy to see Caitlyn, who towers over them. Esther is smiling, but says she would have never guessed Caitlyn’s struggles because Bruce hid them so well.

At this point, Kylie hasn’t seen Caitlyn in person, but nevertheless Caitlyn (although hesitantly) answers and talks with Kylie, as she is just waking up from a dental procedure. However, Caitlyn is reassured everything will be okay when Kylie tells her she looks “pretty” and she loves her.

Everything is going smoothly until Esther sits down with Robin, who is an expert on family’s experiences when family member’s transition that Caitlyn invited to come over to help explain the process to her loved ones. Here, there is a bit of friction when Esther asks about a certain bible verse that talks about not dressing as the other sex. However, the cameras cut away before there is any clear resolution to this conflict in Esther’s beliefs and her reality. Although later in the episode, it seems that Esther is determined to accept Caitlyn and says that she has never been more proud of her.

The episode ends with Caitlyn visiting a family whose transgender son, Kyler Prescott, recently committed suicide. His mother explains that Kyler was completely accepted among his family and friends. In addition, he never faced any serious events of bullying among peers – however, he did feel that the adults in society didn’t accept him for who he was.

Eventually, Kim and Kanye come over to see Caitlyn. Here, Caitlyn expresses her gratitude for Kanye and his “open mind,” as he has helped Kim accept what Caitlyn has been going through.

i am cait showing kim kardashian tom ford dress 2015 recapDuring their visit, Kanye of course has to have his moment of wisdom, where he tells the family that this is one of the “strongest things that [has] happened in our existence as human beings.” Bold statement, but if it came out of Kanye’s mouth it must be true.

The first episode of I Am Cait was definitely a slow start. The show presumably wanted to set up the background story (for the few people in the world who aren’t caught up with Caitlyn’s journey), but in doing so it did cover a lot of what was said in the Diane Sawyer interview and the All About Bruce two part special earlier in the year.

However, it was no doubt captivating to see how much Caitlyn has changed now that she isn’t chained down by lies. She is ready to not only be an activist for the transgender community, but also embrace the vibrant person she really is.

The previews for the upcoming season definitely promise some interesting moments, including Caitlyn being invited to a slumber party, being asked on a date, and sitting down with Kim who confronts her about “bringing down” the Kardashian family during her public transition.

Although many of the cast-members are the same, this show is worlds away from Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The more documentary, serious set-up of the show so far definitely reflects Caitlyn’s personality and her determination to make a change in the world.

THE BACHELORETTE: Kaitlyn Bristowe’s Snapchat Gave Away Finale With Shawn Booth

We finally find out whom Kaitlyn chooses:

Nick Viall, the “villainous” guy from the previous season of The Bachelorette, who joined while the season was in progress and right away, stirred things up. While other guys focused on how much they didn’t want him there, Nick snuck his way closer and closer to Kaitlyn.

Or,

Shawn Booth, the personal trainer who was given the “first impression rose” on the very first day from Kaitlyn. Shawn was overly confident when Kaitlyn told him he was “the one” off-camera, however, his feud and hatred for Nick has somewhat intervened his initially strong connection with Kaitlyn.

The final episode begins with Nick going to meet Kaitlyn’s family. Before going into the house, Kaitlyn tells Nick that she told her family about “going too far” with him off-camera. Nick is visibly shocked to hear that Kaitlyn revealed this to her family. However, sure enough, Nick is able to win over her family’s adoration and eventually gets both her parents’ blessings for marriage (seemingly within minutes of meeting them…demonstrating the magic of The Bachelorette).

Right off the bat Kaitlyn’s mom rightfully expresses her concern that Shawn might be a jealous person, as he has shown jealousy throughout an experience he knew coming in would involve plenty of other men. However, this concern all resolves and unsurprisingly Shawn wins over her parents’ blessings as well. Shawn does seem to get a leg up, as Kaitlyn’s sister reveals she is officially #TeamShawn.

Both men have their final dates with Kaitlyn. Nick and Kaitlyn’s last date goes well, and as per usual Nick feels confident that he is the one this time around.

However, Shawn’s date doesn’t start off so well, when they meet initially things feel awkward as they both are obviously nervous about the final rose ceremony the next date.

They meet up later for dinner and things begin loosening up as they share their feelings, as well as their fears for the future to each other.

Once again, it seems Nick and Shawn are tied for the final rose. Although to me, it seems that Nick and Kaitlyn seemed a lot more natural and passionate during their date.

Both men pick out their ring from resident Bachelorette jeweler Neil Lane and get dressed-up to hopefully end the night off with an engagement.

After various shots of Kaitlyn, Nick and Shawn gazing out to the abyss from their hotel decks, Kaitlyn and the final two head to the bachelor mansion for the final rose ceremony.

SPOILER:

At the ceremony, Kaitlyn, wearing a sparkly dress (which seems to be a reoccurring theme in her bachelorette wardrobe) first has a one-on-one conversation with Nick. After his heart-felt speech, as Nick begins to propose to her, Kaitlyn stops everything and says, “I’m sorry,” indicating Nick isn’t the one.

As Kaitlyn tries to explain herself, Nick is shaken and tells her he would prefer not to hear how she “loves or loved him.” He goes on to tell her, “it is not fair for you to tell me what I feel, you feel the same, because you don’t.”

It’s safe to say Nick will probably not have any faith in the process of The Bachelorette here on out, as he leaves in the limo saying “I’m the world’s biggest joke.”

With Nick out of the picture (although Shawn doesn’t know this yet), Shawn arrives to the mansion. He right away begins spitting out the script he had prepared to recite to Kaitlyn.

Shaking, Kaitlyn accepts Shawn’s proposal and a new Bachelorette engagement is born. Hopefully, this one has a better fate than the majority of them (only 3 out of 11 Bachelorette’s are still with their season’s winners).

Well, there really weren’t many surprises to the night. I think most, even people who don’t watch the show could have guessed that Kaitlyn would end up being proposed. The only question was, whether it would be to Nick or Shawn.

However, Kaitlyn unfortunately did SnapChat a picture with Shawn earlier in the season, which actually showed the two in bed. This indicated that Kaitlyn was spending seemingly more-than-friends time with Shawn after filming had ended.

While many people wanted to believe this was a publicity stunt of some kind, as the season went on and Shawn continued to be given a rose, it was obvious that this was an unfortunate giveaway.

Well, that’s it for The Bachelorette season 11. Now we wait to find out who the next bachelor will be, as many are speculating it to be Ben H.

However, you can catch more bachelor/bachelorette action next week as the new season of Bachelor’s In Paradise begins, which includes alumni such as Ashley S. and Ashley I. from Chris Soules’ season and JJ and Jared from Kaitlyn’s.

The Bachelor In Paradise airs on Sunday, August 2 on ABC and then again during its regular time-slot on Monday, August 3.

Find a mint condition one of these in its original box and you’re looking at something that could be worth thousands in the next few years. Indeed, a quick search online shows that a Kang figure is already retailing for $120 (£75), which means this type of figure could easily be worth significantly more in years to come; especially if the Fantastic Four brand continues to grow.

Although the comic book originals will also be the best in some people’s eyes, there’s no doubt the Fantastic Four image has become so much more in recent years. It is with heavy hearts that the world mourns the lost of Bobbi Kristina Brown. She died yesterday at the age of 22 after her family fought for months to keep her alive and get her healthy.

After being found unresponsive in a bathtub on January 31st in her Rosswell, GA home, she spent the next six months in a comatose state with the hope and prayer that a miracle would take place. There is no doubt that her father, Bobby Brown, is hurt beyond words, especially with the rumors going around say that she was on drugs and she more than likely started doing them because of seeing her parents deal with their drug issues.

Now that she has died, sources are saying that the situation has officially turned into a homicide investigation.

This ongoing saga with Cash Money leader Birdman and Lil Wayne seems as if it will never come to an end. Last month, Young Thug’s tour manager PeeWee Roscoe (Jimmy Winfrey), was indicted in the shooting of Wayne’s tour bus back in April in Cobb County Georgia.

Birdman was also pulled into the mix, being accused of having something to do with the hit. He however, is claiming that he was not involved and is challenging the evidence that implicates him in the attack. According to him, he did get a call from someone during that time calling from a Cash Money phone, but it was not Winfrey instead it was one of Wayne’s people telling him about the shooting.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes and while authorities still suspect Birdman, he has not been officially charged with conspiracy in the shooting.

In her interview with Complex Magazine, Khloe Kardashian had some things to say about the model, whom she still obviously is not that fond of.

“I just feel like it was unnecessary for her to say anything, and I used her own quote back…It was from her talking about when she became a stripper so I’m like, ‘How are you judging and saying Kylie should have a curfew?’”

There will probably always be bad blood between these two because of the simple fact that Khloe’s sister is married to Amber’s ex Kanye West.

Man, just imagine what they could do if they got past all the bullshit and acted like grown women who really want to use their fame for something good.

When Meek Mill took to Twitter last week accusing Drake of not writing his own lyrics, everyone expected the Canadian rapper to respond. And while he kind of sort of did via direct messages to Hitman Holla where he told his friend in reference to what Meek had to say, “I signed up for greatness. This comes with it” he didn’t officially address the “beef” until Saturday.

Drake dropped a new single called Charged Up, which has everyone believing that it was directed mainly at Meek Mill, who has apologized (in his own way) to the rapper for calling him out.

In the track Drake raps,

“I did some charity today for the kids / But I’m used to it cause all y’all charity cases / All y’all stare in my face and hope you could be to replace me / Snitchin’ on us without no interrogation / I stay silent ’cause we at war and I’m very patient.”

Okay, that’s kind of telling, I mean he could be speaking to Meek, he could be talking about something else right? Well then he says,

“Wow, I’m honored that you think this is staged / I’m flattered man, in fact I’m amazed / The perfect start to the summer man, this shit is a doozy / This shit is twistin’ the movie, but don’t jump to any conclusions…”

Either way, the incident “charged” Drake up so much he is making songs about it, which makes it clear, that no matter how much rappers try to be hard, they stay in their feelings too. There’s even a little drop that he might have done his time with Nicki Minaj…nothing like keeping the smoke smoldering…
