Roger Federer & Novak Djokovic In Semi-Finals: 2015 ATP World Tour Finals

0

roger federer novak djokovic in semifinals atp 2015 tennis imagesRoger Federer and Novak Djokovic are both through to the semifinals of the 2015 ATP World Tour Finals. Federer completed his sweep of Group Stan Smith on Thursday when he defeated Kei Nishikori in three sets 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. Djokovic finished second in the group with victories over Nishikori earlier in the week and Tomas Berdych more recently. The latter match ended with a 6-3, 7-5 line score, one that saw Berdych finish the event winless.

Federer will enter the semifinals top-seeded, and he will play the second place player in Group Ilie Nastase. That group has not yet been decided. However, it will be by the end of play on Friday. Upcoming matches will see Rafael Nadal face David Ferrer and Andy Murray face Stan Wawrinka.

These four players enter the final day of round robin play with the following records:

Nadal: 2-0
Wawrinka: 1-1
Murray: 1-1
Ferrer: 0-2

If Nadal should fall to Ferrer, a result that would be a large upset, it would not matter from any point of view. It’s true that Nadal could end up 2-1 and be tied with the winner of Wawrinka vs. Murray. However, the tiebreaking procedure looks at who beat who in round robin play and Nadal has already defeated both Wawrinka and Murray in London. Accordingly, Nadal has already clinched top spot in the group and he will crossover to face the second place finisher in Group Stan Smith (i.e.,. Djokovic),

Friday’s Wawrinka vs. Murray match, though part of round robin play, actually functions as a de facto quarterfinal in the sense that the winner will move on, and the loser will be sent packing. The tournament’s complexion thus looks like this:

Semifinals:

Djokovic vs. Nadal
Federer vs. Winner of Wawrinka/Murray

In many ways, the 2015 World Tour Finals appears to be shaping up as a Djokovic vs. Federer final. While the former would likely be the favorite of such a tour finale, the match would be interesting since Federer has the recent victory over the World No. 1. The semifinals will be played on Saturday with the final on Sunday.

Following that final, the next major event that will feature all of the best players on tour will be the 2016 Australian Open. Lesser events ahead of that tournament include the 2015 Davis Cup final later this month and a host of 250-level events from the South Pacific in early January.

David Beckham Keeps It Sexy & Gavin Rossdale Cheating News

On Tuesday night, late night host Jimmy Kimmel exposed the identity of People Magazine’s sexiest man of 2015.  On the show, Jimmy employed members of his studio audience to ask yes or no questions to a masked man who was video-called in.

After a few answers, including the mystery man revealing he is married to a celebrity, has kids, and used to be an athlete, one of the audience members guessed former LA Galaxy star David Beckham. Fortunately, they guessed right, and David took off his mask to confirm the speculation.

Soon after, Jimmy went on to ask David whether he has seen his cover of People magazine, in which he jokingly replied, “I saw it about an hour ago for the first time…the best moment of my career.”

When giving his “acceptance speech,” the soccer star stated, “I would obviously like to thank my parents for bringing me into this world, of course. I would like to thank my hairdresser, my stylist.”

In the magazine article, David talks modestly about his status as the sexiest man alive. He says, “I never feel that I’m an attractive, sexy person. I mean I like to wear nice clothes and nice suits and look and feel good, but I don’t ever think of myself that way.”

This marked the end of Thor actor Chris Hemsworth’s reign, as he held the title for the past year.

gavin rossdale nanny in hiding from gwen stefani 2015 gossip

A whole new “NannyGate” scandal has spawned from Gwen Stefani’s divorce from her former husband, Gavin Rossdale. The situation feels very familiar, as a similar chain of events occurred earlier in the summer when Jennifer Gardner and Ben Affleck announced their divorce.

However, there are also some notable differences between the two scandals. Ben and Jen’s nanny was constantly out-and-about when the rumors about her cheating with Ben began spreading. The young woman was photographed all over Los Angeles, driving around fancy cars and sporting new clothes, as she got hassled by swarms of paparazzi hoping she would talk about her alleged affair.

On the other hand, as reports that Gavin cheated on Gwen continue to flood the media, their former nanny Mindy Mann has gone into hiding. A source close to Mindy tells E! “the last weeks have been extremely difficult for Mindy. She has been bombarded with media trying to get her to talk about Gavin and the kids, and she doesn’t want to talk. She cares about those kids so much and out of respect for the family want to keep quiet.”

A few days ago, Mindy was photographed for the first time since the cheating allegations surfaced. Shortly after, she decided she would stay on the down low as the attention towards her was overwhelming. The source spills, “she is still currently in LA but keeping a low profile and has shut her phone off.”

While neither Gwen nor Gavin have commented on the rumors, some reports are claiming that Gwen found out that Mindy had been exchanging inappropriate messages and pictures with Gavin. Reports are saying that these messages were found on the family’s iPad, including a few exchanges where Gavin and Mindy were planning where they were going to hook up.

Meanwhile, Gwen continues to publicly show her affection for fellow Voice coach and rumored new boyfriend, Blake Shelton. She was recently seen throwing herself into his arms during the commercial break for the NBC singing competition.

‘Paranormal Witness’ 213 Ashes to Ashes Recap

paranormal witness 413 ashes to ashes 2015 imagesOn the season finale of “Paranormal Witness,” a couple moved into their grandmother’s house with their young daughter. The wife, Amanda, was close to her grandmother and lived down the street from her until her grandmother had a stroke. Afterward, she had to live in a hospice to receive 24/7 care. Chris went to her house to get her favorite blanket.  Grandma’s house was described by Chris as dark and creepy. He felt like he was being followed through the house. When he went into her bedroom, he found her favorite blanket.

Four years after her grandmother passed away Chris and Amanda got married and had Amelia, their daughter. When Amelia was a young child, they started living in Amanda’s grandmother’s house. Chris put a box of paperwork in a closet and hung family pictures of late relatives in the hallway of the house.

One night Amelia was sitting up in bed for no reason. She had a conversation with an unknown being which Amanda and Chris saw on their baby monitor. Chris then heard another voice in the room. He went to make sure the windows in her bedroom were locked. Amanda asked Amelia who her friend was, but she wouldn’t say.

Getting ready for bed one night, Amanda heard a light knock on the bathroom door but tried to brush it off. The knock then got so loud it sounding like pounding. Amanda went to check on Amelia and felt blind but saw no one outside the bathroom door. Then Amanda heard footsteps on the roof, and she thought someone was trying to break in. Amanda called Chris at work and begged him to come home.

When he got home, he went to check outside for intruders. He tried to reassure her no one was around. Amanda said there was something threatening about the house. The next day they had a barbecue in their backyard. Chris saw a figure pass by the kitchen and then disappear. Chris grabbed his loaded gun and felt like someone was on his heels putting a heavy weight on him. He heard a creaking noise in the kitchen and went to investigate. He saw a figure of someone in the house.

That night Chris was back at work, and Amanda was trying to relax and finish the housework. She heard tapping on the window that sounded like fingernails, but nothing was there. She then heard a scratching noise on the outside of the house and the hair on her arms stood up. She said it sounded like the living room door had been slammed shut. All the doors in the house then began making a slamming noise. Then she felt something grip her shoulder, and she knew something paranormal was in the house. She tried to figure out if it had anything to do with her grandmother.

Then they heard glass break, and Chris went to investigate. A picture fell off the wall and landed unnaturally, breaking the glass. Chris’s boss asked what was wrong, and Chris told him what had been happening. When Chris told him, the boss said his wife Lisa was psychic, and she could help them. Lisa went to the house and looked at everything in the house. She felt a pulse in her hand as she walked around the house. Amanda told Lisa it was her grandmother’s house, which Lisa already suspected. Lisa went into Amelia’s room and pointed out the spot where the being had appeared that Amelia talked to. She said the paranormal presence was in the room with them. She said the spirit in the room was protecting Amelia. Amanda then heard the spirit speaking, and it was her grandmother.

Lisa then entered the den and got a dark, overwhelming feeling. She heard an aggressive voice screaming and yelling, indicating she was trapped. Lisa said the presence in that room meant it contained human remains in a box behind the wall. In the closet, they found a box that contained an urn of ashes. That’s when Amanda revealed her grandmother had a twin sister, who was the cremated person in the urn. Amanda said her grandmother’s twin was nasty to her grandmother, and it was upsetting. A great aunt of Amanda’s had also passed away. Lisa said they had to get rid of the ashes in order to have a happy family. They put the ashes in the garage for the night and later Amanda was watching TV in bed when she heard fingernails tapping on the window. She looked out the window and saw nothing but then realized her dead great aunt was haunting them again. Amanda called Chris at work to tell him. She felt something evil and watched a door shut for no reason. She tried to open the front door, but it was stuck. She heard heavy footsteps on the roof again and then Amelia started crying for her mom, who couldn’t get to her.

Chris came home and freed Amanda so they could rescue Amelia. Chris yelled at the spirits to leave his family alone. Chris and Amanda scattered her ashes at a local casino that she loved to spend time at. After the ashes were scattered Amanda felt a sense of relief.

‘Empire’ 208 My Bad Parts Hakeem Loses His Lyon Recap

empire 208 my bad parts recap 2015 images“Empire” continues its convoluted series of storylines this week, and it just doesn’t feel right. In particular, Anika has become a kind of sad stalker who dresses in blonde wigs to chauffeur Lauren from Hakeem’s celebration party. Yea, he wins the battle between Freda, which was probably the best part of the 45 minutes.

Cookie and Lucious still go at it as daddy Lyon didn’t know that his prized artist Jamal is working with is arch nemesis/ex-wife/love of his life. Jamal has an opportunity to get a Pepsi endorsement, which is huge and will change things for both him and Empire, but he is torn submitting Cookie’s song or his dad’s song to Pepsi to help them make their final decision. So, in an effort to bring his parents together, he invites both of them to the studio to let them hear the mashup of both songs. They hate it, they love it, they hate it, and Jamal fed up and embarrassed, walks out. It is during this scene that a) they make a bet that if Hakeem wins the rap battle, Cookie, and Lyon Dynasty gets Jamal’s album, and if Freda wins, Lu gets Hakeem’s and b) we see that Terrance Howard and Taraji P. Henson’s are a dynamic duo.

Speaking of the rap beef between Freda and Keem, it is instigated by Lucious. In fact, he proudly creates it pitting the Philly rapper against his son. So much so that they write a song in which she calls him a momma’s boy and “daddy’s little girl.” Of course this infuriates Hakeem and thus the rap battle, open mic is born. And is it a wonder who wins? Hakeem does because really, they can’t have Freda beat him. Even though her rhymes did sting more, Keem’s overall presence and performance hit harder. And hit he did as while he raps, he disavows his last name, takes a mic stand and knocks out “Lyon” in a light fixture with his name on it. The crowd cheers and he is crowned the winner, to Lucious’ disappointment.

And can we talk about Lu for a second? I don’t know if Lee Daniel and the writers are trying to set up a bi-polar storyline for him, but it is clear that he has some uncharacteristic issues. Not only does he go extra hard to see Hakeem fail, but he ignores every piece of advice Dre gives him about acquiring Swift Stream. He tells his dad that he doesn’t have a good feeling about it, but Lu goes ahead with the deal anyway. His relationship with Mimi is clearly going south as they continually fight (why you should never mix business with pleasure) and we know something is up by the look she shoots Jaygo when Lu signs paperwork during a very important meeting. I don’t know how many other people caught it, but I’m pretty sure whatever he signed is not the deal he was looking for.

There is a lot of searching on this episode, and no one is more lost that Anika. She takes a series of pregnancy tests and, surprise, she is with child, and we are lead to believe that it is Hakeem’s baby. She goes through the denial, the crying and tries to tell him. She shows up at his house unannounced and is all over him. He pushes her off, gently, and tells her, “I think I’m in love.” Now, right here I don’t know if she thinks it’s her or knows it’s Laura, all I know is that she is the one in the car that picks Laura up from Hakeem’s victory party.

Ah, yes the party. Cookie is overjoyed to have her boys together again, “even if it is just for one night.” Lucious crashes but that doesn’t stop them from celebrating. As he takes his seat, a security guard whispers in his ear, and he gets a glee in his eye. That glee is Cookie’s crazy sister Candace, played by Vivica Fox, who gives her sister the news that Carol dropped her kids off and has gone on a bender. She also left a note saying that Cookie is the one to blame. Candace wants answers, but all the former Mrs. Lucious tells her is, “we got to go to Philly,” something that Candace did not want to hear.

The other noteworthy thing that happens this week is that after getting his parents out of the way, Jamal’s mashup of their songs is a hit. So much so that after performing for the Pepsi folks, he lands the endorsement and it’s smiles, hugs and laughs between him and his parents.

I am patiently waiting to see where all of this goes as the fall finale is on a few more episodes away.

‘Scream Queens’ 109 Ghost Stories Recap

Scream Queens 109 Ghost Stories Recap 2015 imagesWe learned a lot about the method to the madness on this week’s episode of “Scream Queens,” and we are just a little closer to finding out what the killings are really about.

Boone, because he is Boone, is caught by Chanel #3 in the middle of the night on campus. Only he isn’t truly caught because he convinces her that he is a ghost. Yea, wow, I know.

Back at the Kappa house, Denise puts the girls mind at ease as they pack up since it’s their last night at the house because it’s Thanksgiving break and they have been ordered to leave the campus. Her method, however, is definitely the not the best. Especially after is it found out that Boone’s “ghost” is haunting the campus. Denise gathers them around to tell different scary stories as a means to take their minds off of Boone. But what she doesn’t expect is for one of the tales to actually come true. While in the bathroom, and having to choose between red or red toilet paper (just the victim in her story) the red devil finds and almost kills her, but she gets away and locks herself and the girls in a room. Chanel #5 can’t take it any long and after hearing another “scary story” this time told by Chanel #6, she storms out of the house, gets into her car and drives away.

Meanwhile, Boone makes himself known to Chad, still a ghost, and lets him in on the secret that he is back because he has some unfinished business to take care of and it involves ZayDay. He plans to show her what he has to offer because as you know “once you go black you don’t go back” but she is not having it. She has plans to get it on with Earl Grey, who left her to prepare himself for their night. But that is cut short when after turning down Boone and both she and Grace accidently push him out of a window, Earl Grey is killed by the red devil and yes we assume that it’s Boone.

Speaking of killed, Chanel #5 is almost taken out when, as she is driving, she has no idea that the red devil is in her back seat. But in an eery turn of events, the same story that Chanel #6 tells about a truck driver saving a woman in her car by honking and flashing his lights because a man was in her back seat, the same thing happens to Chanel #5. Only in Chanel #5’s case, the driver is killed and once again she escapes death.

Racing back to the house where things have taken a pretty interesting turn, she is lured into Chanel Prime’s plan to kill Hester a.k.a Chanel #6 who is pregnant with Chad’s baby. Or is she?

While they work out their plan to take her down, Grace and Zayday meet with a detective and Dean Munsch, and it is clear that the man on the case is a total idiot. Not only does he hire a misfit to “sketch” Boone’s face, but he is also too stupid to realize that’s not necessary because, hello, they have pictures of him. ZayDay turns to Munsch and goes off on her because this is her fault. She has let everything get out of control, and Munsch agrees. After telling the detective, who she obviously had a sexual relationship with, that she will tell everyone how he asked her to nurse him in a baby voice, she tells Gracy and her sidekick that she offers Grace and her sidekick some important information, or rather she confirms some important information. There were, in fact, two babies born that night in Kappa house, a boy and a girl, and they are all betting it is Boone.

We find from Boone himself that he was the baby. While he tells Gigi how he feels about their plan, he talks about being raised by crazies who at their own poo, how he studied costume make up for eight months to fake his death and that he practiced slowing his heart rate and breathing for years, so much so that he fooled a coroner. It is clear that he feels a certain kind of way and is about to carry out his plan where he and the other Red Devil kill Gigi but, surprise, his fellow red capped murderer, whose identity is still unknown to us, kills Boone instead.

There is a lot of killing in this episode and the body count stacks up to four with Hester being the last victim. She tells Chad that she’s pregnant which means he has to marry her instead of Chanel Prime, which is why she devised her plan to kill Hester. And to put it in place, she and the other Chanels give her sushi, cheese and alcohol, which Hester readily takes. All are an indication that she is indeed, not pregnant and she confesses that she lied. She also tells Chanel that it doesn’t matter because she’s the one going with Chad to meet his family and stay with them over Thanksgiving break where she will get pregnant. As she storms out of the house, Chanel catches her on the stairs and pushes her and we hear her neck crack when she reaches the bottom.

That’s one twisted Kappa.

‘Black-ish’ 208 Barbershop & ‘Empire’ Christmas Cards

blackish 208 barbershop empire christmas 2015 images“Black-ish” is new and fresh this week, and it’s all about hair, “Empire” Christmas cards and loyalty.

Dre takes his boys to the barber shop with the hope that they appreciate and understand it’s importance as much as he does. When a new barber, Smokey, asks Junior or Pimp Juice, if he wants a haircut, Dre throws a fit and tells him all the situations in which you are under no circumstances supposed to go to another barber. Junior branches out anyway.

Back at the house, Bow works with the girls to practice their winter wonderland Christmas card look, and it is less than enjoyable. Zoe and Diane get a break when Junior and Jack walk into the living room. Bow goes crazy for his haircut, and Zoe even tells him he can speak to her at school tomorrow. When Dre walks in, however, it’s a different story as it is clear his lifelong barber is losing it. His hairline is more like a hair curve and according to Bow, it looks like Mr. T had a stroke while Dre was in the chair. He panics all while calling Junior a “light skilled Judas” at his suggestion to go see Smokey.

Dre’s botched haircut means Bow has to rearrange the photo shoot, which is just more stress for her. Ruby tells Bow that she will help with the photo shoot and Bow objects, but Ruby pushes her out and tells the kids that the new theme is “elegance.” For whatever reason, Diane freaks out because she’s “quirky at best” and she nor Jack knows how to do elegant.

At work, Dre has a hard time during his presentation because of Junior’s betrayal and his haircut. They suggest firing his barber, and he is not having it. He tells them that black folks don’t turn their backs on people, especially their barbers. So in a lesson to his son about loyalty, and the white folks at his work, he does what the Lakers do when Kobe has a bad night and put the ball back in T’s hands anyway. The results? Just think George Jefferson… gone horribly wrong.

The next day at the house, Bow is upset that Ruby has abandoned her winter wonderland theme. Her mother-in-law explains the elegance theme and tells her it’s easy because it involves things like, “Coach…bags.” Just then, Dre comes in and they all but faint. He tells Bow he went back to T. because he’s Kobe and you don’t take the ball out of Kobe’s hand because he’s having a bad game. “Yea the Kobe of ten years ago,” Bow tells him.

Zoe tries to put Jack and Diane’s hearts at rest about the photo shoot and demonstrates how easy it is to be elegant, but literally falls flat on her bum in broken glass.

Meanwhile, Dre takes care of his hair situation the best way he knows how- sneaking into Junior’s phone to find Smokey’s number. Only he is caught, and when he asks for the barber’s number, Junior gives him the same speech Dre gave him at the barbershop about being loyal.

Downstairs, Ruby has everything together for the Christmas card, because, in her own words, she’s a “bad bitch” and uses the cast of Empire cut-outs to set up the standing order. She’s Cookie, Dre is Lucious and Bow? “The white girl Rhonda.” Oh, Ruby.

Dre goes back to the barbershop, and everyone makes fun his hair cut when he takes off his hat. They call him Lebron and of course, Lebron hairline jokes ensure. Dre ignores them and asks Smokey if he can put him in front of the others, but the barber tells him he can’t help him out, but he can call T. When T. comes in he looks at Dre’s hair and accuses him of messing it up himself. “You did this to me!” He can’t take it and storms out because as he puts it, “I’m a grown-ass man.”

While he’s still dealing with his hair, his momma is in Bow’s. She does a mock-up of the card, this time using her grandchildren and Bow goes ballistic. She tells Zoe to wash the make up off of her face, Jack that they don’t do gangsta leans in their household and Diane to take off her fishnets. She tells Ruby that “Christmas is not about being a bad bitch.”

To solve his hair problems, Dre hires a barber to the stars as his own personal in-house hair cutter and tells his son that they don’t have to deal with the politics and jokes of the office anymore nor watch Putty Tang on a constant loop. “Get to, get to watch Putty Tang,” Junior corrects him.

The day of the photo shoot, Bow is dressed in a sequin dress with bling, but Ruby dresses the kids in Bow’s original winter wonderland theme. Needless to say, what happens every year happens again- Bow cries in the holiday card picture.

In the end, Junior comes to the house with a jacked up haircut because Smokey got into a fight at the barbershop (but didn’t stop cutting his hair). He tells his dad that his personal barber is the way to go, and as he admits it to Dre, he gets a call from Sasha and totally plays her, a move he learned from Smokey. And it is that move that convinces Dre he needs to keep his son going to the barbershop.

‘Modern Family’ 707 Sexy Sexy House Recap

modern family 707 sexy sexy house 2015 imagesOn this week’s “Modern Family,” the Pritchett’s have their traditional Thanksgiving left overs Saturday. As if that’s not complicated enough, the way the storyline unfolds for all the characters is one big ole mess involving a very sexy house.

As they finish up their brunch, Haley overhears her dad tell Mitch and Cam about the showing he had for one of their friend’s house who’s place is a mega mansion. Since, in her view, the only thing cool about having a father in real estate is sneaking into his houses, she had a fun time in the bathtub of that house the night before and hearing them talk about it reminds her that she left something there.

Meanwhile, Claire thinks that Phil is mad at her as he doesn’t take his eyes off of his phone, leading her to believe that he is giving her the cold shoulder about what happened the night before. After she had returned home from a long trip, she went off on him for taking a bath with the ducks being that she had plans to come straight home and enjoy it herself.

Haley makes her way to the house only to find that she left the water running and the tub overflowed. She also finds Andy there getting the house together. They try to move past the awkwardness by focusing on getting the tub fixed. But they end up falling into the water together. How convenient right? They find robes to put on while their clothes dry and the whole thing just makes for one romantically cozy situation; a situation that may just find these two back in each other’s arms. Just as they are about to share a kiss, they hear someone come into the house. They find out it is Cam and Mitch who break out the cocktails and plan to have a nice time since their world revolves around Lily who is at a friend’s house. As they get comfy, the crowd grows because Phil shows up and they hear him say to someone on the other line, “Don’t worry about Claire you have me all afternoon.” And the plot thickens.

Back at Jay’s, he plans to take the whole family to Miami for Christmas, so Gloria goes around hugging people as a disguise to take their wallet. So when she hugs Phil, finding his wallet is not so easy. It turns into an all out groping session, and Phil shamelessly enjoys it.

The sexy house continues to fill as not only has Phil now joined the company of the others, Luke, and his friends show up with a six-pack. They run into Cam and Mitch who are about to give them the third degree but before they can, Phil comes out in his virtual classes on as he is heavy into his role playing game which is the reason he’s at the house. Everyone freezes because they just know they are caught, but since he is so into the game, he doesn’t even realize they are there.

Claire then shows up at the house dressed as a medieval harlot as she misunderstood Phil saying he wants time to role play as him wanting to do it with her. She ends up embarrassing herself. Phil explains what he meant was having time to do his virtual role play game. All the others hiding come out (except Haley and Andy) and even Alex and Reuben are caught in a closet in one big mess. Phil scolds them for being there without permission and tells them they violated him and “this sexy, sexy house.” After they leave, he has a tender moment with Claire and lets her know he was never mad at her but was totally into texting about the game. He knows that she works hard and any chance he gets to spend time with her makes him happy. They leave, and we are pretty sure what they are off to do.

Haley and Alex finally come out and have changed back into their clothes. They talk about the awkward moment that almost happened between them and brushes it off as the effects of the house. Haley leaves out only to immediately run back in, jump on Andy, and passionately kiss him, which he embraces.

In the end, Gloria asks Jay if they can bring her Columbian family to Miami when they go and readies herself for an argument. But Jay tells her that they aren’t going to Miami as he has booked their flights to her home country instead. Gloria, who you would think is happy about this, is caught in her deceitful plan as she was counting on her and Jay arguing about everything always being about his family and not hers which would give her grounds to justify bringing her family to them She opens the door, and non-stop Columbians crowd into the house.

‘Being Mary Jane’ 306 Not A Comeback Recap

being mary jane 306 not a comeback 2015 imagesThis week on “Being Mary Jane,” MJ spends some time with the Anchorettes at her new it spot. They talk about everything from work to relationships to prenups. All the while, MJ is looking for her white boy crush.

They are clearly buzzed and head out but as her friends leave, MJ sees her guy and goes back into the club, and they have a groping session. He asks her name and tells her he wants her to come to his house, or he go to hers, but she tells him to shut up, and they kiss it out.

The next morning, she gets schooled on fashion and love by one of her friend’s wardrobe people Jason. He breaks the whole booty call, mixed signals things down for MJ when she receives a text from her cutty buddy. And it all makes sense to her.

At work, MJ feels a certain kind of way about a dog story that Kara gave her. “Come on it was cute Mary Jane?” Kara tries to explain to her what it is, and MJ tells her she’s just going with the flow, and she’s cool, especially since she now has a clothing allowance. MJ leaves and Kara has a mini breakdown because she feels that she has no life now that she is back living with her husband and kids.

Mary Jane and her cutty buddy get it on but afterward he has a seizure, a scary moment for both of them. The next day, MJ tells Kara what happened, and because she has other things to deal with, she just can’t “do” him anymore. Plus “seizures aren’t sexy.” Wow MJ. As they talk, just about everyone in the company gets news that “outs” Mark, which is an article showing him having, “public gay sex.” MJ rushes to her friend.

“OMG are you okay, I thought you said the club was safe,” MJ says to him. She makes light of it by saying he is well-endowed, but Mark’s not laughing. “Gay is the new black; you might as well embrace it.” He is super offended by that and before he can really “let her have it” he is called into Greg’s office.

His boss is very sympathetic to the situation and tells him that it appears he did nothing wrong. Their legal team is on it and the public is supporting him too. “And we want to do much the same.” He then tells him that it’s a great opportunity for them to do an “on air coming out” segment. They even offer to add an ongoing segment in his piece and tells him they want to use him more during the election. But he’s not having it. “I’m not interesting in being the face of gay politics.” Greg also tells him that he’s not going to Syria and Nigeria because they are killing journalists left and right. “The last thing we need to do is send a recently outed reporter in the middle of hostile territory.” Mark then quits because he feels Greg is impeding his career by trying to put him in a “gay” box.

That night after MJ’s segment, Greg tells her that Mark quit, which she didn’t know. He begs to her talk some sense into Mark when she speaks to him (he knows she will soon). According to Greg, they can’t lose him, he’s the strongest daytime anchor they have, and they will do anything to keep him. “Wow, you’re really fighting for him,” she tells Greg, and he then lets her in on something- “But not as hard as I fought for you.” She turns around and apologizes, and they have a moment. “See, white guys aren’t so bad after all,” he tells her.

Kara sees that Marisol has stayed late and asks her why she’s still there. She tells the producer that she is trying to stay in the mix so that they will remember her now that she confides to a desk. Then, they have it out. Kara calls her unqualified and says the only reason she’s there is because of a quota. Marisol tells her that she’s only there because they can get her for cheap and they each tell each other how what they are doing hurts the Latino community.

MJ has a conversation with Mark encouraging him to take the deal that Greg has offered him. But he doesn’t want to do gay news because he’s gay. He’s still a serious reporter and doesn’t believe people will take him seriously. “Honey please just pump the breaks… and talk to Greg.”

MJ’s cutty buddy texts her about coming over, and she gives in, she decides she can’t do it. They kiss, but she stops, “Let’s talk about he elephant in the room.” He doesn’t really want to because of what it means to his football career. She tells him he can do so many things, and he asks her what in particular. She has nothing to say. He leaves. “Text me and let me know when you get home.”

I love these conversations that Mary Jane have with her girlfriends because they really do represent a lot of women. They talk about sex,  being single, being considered a ho and blow jobs. “It just all gets away from you doesn’t it.” Then MJ suggests resetting your ho button after 35. Interesting thought there MJ.

Mark doesn’t give in to Greg because he can’t cover what he wants and thus decides to go to Syria and Nigeria by himself with his own crew. “There’s nothing tying me down here.” MJ doesn’t agree with his decision.  She feels they are fighting a losing battle, but that’s bull crap to him. “I’m not a sellout.

In the end, at the club, that night, her white boy whispers in her ear that he caught her show. “Why’d you do that,” she quietly asks him. He tells her he “wanted to know,” and all she can do is smile.

‘Fresh Off the Boat’ 208 Huangsgiving Recap

It’s Thanksgiving at the Huang’s house on “Fresh Off the Boat,” and Jessica has been chosen as the daughter to host it this year.

It’s a really big deal for her mother to give her the honor of hosting the family Thanksgiving dinner is usually given to her sister Connie. These two are super competitive to the point that you wonder if they even like each other at all. But in the episode, we see a softer side to their relationship, and it comes in the form of Jessica comforting her sister who is in the middle of a separation.

But the lovely dove-y stuff doesn’t happen before all the drama that comes when these two get together. Louis, the ever supporting husband, takes on the duty of making sure “Huangsgiving” goes off without a hitch. But a wrench is thrown into his plan when, in an effort to comfort his brother-in-law and gives him advise on what he should do to save his marriage, he gets super drunk and wakes up in the driveway of his house.

The morning after Connie, Steve, their son and Jessica’s mom arrive proves to be a trying one as Louis is too hung over, Ethan and Emery take issue about decorating the table, and Eddie’s plan to bond with his cousin over grunge music doesn’t work out because “grunge is out.” The two older cousins find common ground, and they can thank the internet full of hot babes for that.

While all the chaos is going on downstairs, they work on getting the computer up and running. Remember it is the mid 90’s and all that is available is dial up so downloading a picture takes an eternity. They each have an idea of the famous woman they want to look at and come to a neutral ground that they both are happy with- Traci Chapman. But after waiting and watching the ticker go back and forth between 98 and 99 percent, they finally see their dream woman… dressed in baggy jeans a white T-shirt and a black vest. Very sexy.

After taking a shower and getting himself together, Louis pulls it together just enough to be of some assistance in the kitchen. For Jessica, not only does she plan to cook the best Thanksgiving dinner, she has invited one of her mother’s favorite people, Oscar, a flamboyant friend who brings along his boyfriend to this year’s dinner. Her mother is overjoyed to see her good friend and the two laugh it up to Connie’s consternation. She is determined to find a way to make her sister look like a fool since she lost her bid for the annual dinner and she does when she realizes that things aren’t going so well in the kitchen.

In fact, they are going horribly as the turkey Louis bought to replace the Cornish hens (that plan backfired when live birds were delivered earlier in the day) didn’t cook because he turned on the oven light and not the oven temperature. Jessica tries to her best to stall, even talking Louis into playing football with Steve, Oscar and Honey’s husband Marvin in the street. But that doesn’t last long as Connie tells everything that the turkey is raw. Jessica brings out her homemade cranberry sauce and suggests eating the food items individually, and her mother tells her that they know what’s going on, and Connie has gone to the store to buy a fryer.

This upsets Jessica because she already thinks her sister is faking marital problems to steal her thunder. She rushes to the only store open on Thanksgiving, Glenns and finds Connie looking at fryers and this is where the “sister” moment happens. Jessica tells her she knows what she’s up and even brings up all the times in their lives when she has tried to steal her shine including the fact that she and Steve are having issues. But her sister confides in her that they are having issues because he’s so annoying, to which Jessica agrees, and she just can’t stand to be around him. She realizes her sister is going through something and consoles her, reminding her how much Steve loves her and that she just needs to give it some of the time. They then fight over who is going to buy the fryer and Jessica wins.

They return home and have a lovely Huangsgiving… at 11:00 pm.

‘Law & Order SVU’ 1709 Depravity Standard Recap

law order svu 1709 depravity standard 2015 imagesOn this week’s episode of “Law & Order: SVU,” a murderer’s lawyer pled guilty for him in court, with Benson as a witness. But the murderer, Mr. Hota, said he refused to plead guilty because he was innocent. He had confessed to Benson but said she threatened him and put words in his mouth. Benson told a woman whose son Wyatt had been kidnapped by the man that he would have to testify in court, but the mother said Wyatt was traumatized and wouldn’t be testifying.

Sonny asked the DA if he could shadow him in court because Sonny is taking law classes. The defendant’s lawyer said he had been broken down and was not guilty of the crimes he was charged with. She tried to get his video confession thrown out of court, but the judge allowed it.

Hector Rodriguez was the boy that was kidnapped and murdered, and Finn and Sonny talked to the cop that arrested Mr. Hota. Dr. Wong ran into Benson outside the court house, and the DA said that Dr. Wong would be testifying as to whether or not Mr. Hota knew what he was doing when he committed the crimes he was charged with. Benson and the DA worked together to prove she hadn’t pressured Mr. Hota to admit to the crimes. His video confession was played in court for the jury to see while Benson was on the stand. The defense attorney asked Benson if she coerced or threatened Mr. Hota into a confession. In court Mr. Hota said Benson told him he would be killed if he didn’t confess and that the police tried to frame him for murder.

Dr. Wong testified that Mr. Hota was raised to cooperate with authority figures. He said Mr. Hota was abused as a child, and his emotional defenses had been breached. Later Benson confronted Dr. Wong about testifying in Mr. Hota’s defense.

Back in court the officer that found Hector dead testified in court. Mr. Hota’s lawyer asked him if he was the one that murdered Hector and he refused to answer the question. The DA told the jury the defendant’s words and actions meant he was guilty of the charges brought against him. Hector’s mother told reporters that Mr. Hota had killed her son.

Finn got a call from Rollins saying she needed to go to the doctor, so he went to get her. He called Benson from the hospital to tell her he was with Rollins.

Back in court a juror said they wanted to hear the rules that determine if a confession can be considered voluntary. The judge explained the rules and the jury continued to deliberate. The cop that found Hector’s body said that he knew one of the jurors was lying because the man didn’t like cops.

The jury said they wanted to hear testimonies from Benson and Dr. Wong again. Mr. Hota’s attorney said he would take a plea for criminal and negligent homicide. She and the DA went to the judge’s chambers and found out the jury deadlocked, claiming determining guilt was pointless. The judge had no choice but to declare a mistrial and dismiss the jury.

At the hospital, Rollins was having contractions. Sonny and Benson were there, and Rollins got very upset. She was hemorrhaging, and the baby’s heartbeat was slowing down.

‘Survivor Second Chance’ 3109 Witch’s Coven Knocks Out Wiglesworth

survivor second chance 3109 them witches take out wiglesworth 2015 imagesOn this week’s episode of “Survivor Second Chance,” at the Orkun camp, Kelley took credit for getting Andrew a.k.a.  Savage, sent home. Kelley said she wanted to take risks and make moves. Jeremy said Savage going home had screwed him but that he had one immunity idol to protect himself with. Joe looked for the immunity idol, saying it was crucial to his survival. Abi said she loved that Joe was nervous. Kelley called for a big move at the next tribal council.

For this week’s “Survivor Second Chance” rewards challenge, they were divided into two teams to navigate a slide and an obstacle course to a chest that holds a game where players guess the combination. Whichever team won would get a spa experience complete with a hot shower and massage. Spa food such as sandwiches and salads were also included for the winners. Spencer, Joe and Tasha’s team won the rewards. Jeremy said the whole day was wasted because his team lost the challenge.

At the spa, Joe said the “Survivor Second Chance” rewards were amazing. Stephen said playing an old school game was not going to work this time. Stephen said the game was moving much faster than it ever has in the past. Jeremy said he was pissed off because his team lost the rewards challenge, so he went looking for the immunity idol. He was excited when he finally found a clue to the immunity idol’s location. That night Jeremy wanted to go find the idol but had to say he was going to the bathroom because everyone was up and he didn’t want them to know he was looking for the idol. He snuck off and found it hanging from a lantern. Jeremy got emotional as he said he wanted to win to make life easier on his family, especially with a new baby on the way.

Stephen said he was tired of the way the game was going. He said people needed to be more willing to make moves. Ciera said she Abi and Kelley were on the bottom but that now the other contestants wanted to talk to them all of a sudden.

For this week’s immunity challenge, they had to balance on triangular platforms in the water. The person that held their balance the longest would win immunity. It started raining just as the challenge began. Buoys were released for each contestant and whoever got to his or hers first would get an advantage in the game. Kelley, Jeremy, Ciera, Kimmie and Tasha all fell off their platforms when they had to change positions. Keith then lost his balance and fell. Wigglesworth also fell trying to change positions. Abi then lost her balance making Joe the only one to win immunity three times in this season.

Back at Orkun camp, Kimmi said she was fine with Joe winning immunity because it meant one of the girls she didn’t like would be voted out. Kelly said they were going to split votes at tribal council. Tasha said they wanted Wigglesworth to go home. Stephen looked at the mystery advantage he won and realized it was a game changer beyond his wildest dreams. Stephen could steal a vote from someone else at tribal council, which he said could shift the dynamics of the game.

Stephen said he, Spencer and Jeremy were the lowest on the totem pole in this game. Spencer said he didn’t know what to do to protect his game. Jeremy said Stephen was the person he trusted the most and that he was trying to form an alliance with Stephen and Spencer.

At tribal council, the jury was brought in, which consisted of Kass and Savage. Wentworth said she hoped people were willing to make a move in tribal council. Jeremy said the game was about voting blocks. Wentworth said she hoped everyone would do what they said they would do at tribal council. Votes were cast and then tallied by Jeff, who announced that Wigglesworth was voted off the “Survivor Second Chance” island and would become a member of the jury joining Savage and Cass.

DraftKings Weekly Update: Fantasy Football Still Legal For Now

0

draftkings weekly update new york ag 2015 nfl imagesThis Week in DraftKings

There is a lot going on each week in the world of daily fantasy sports, specifically DraftKings, where I spend most of my DFS time. Millions are paid out each and every week. There is a new millionaire each Monday night after the Millionaire Maker NFL tournament ends. And hundreds of thousands of players go head to head to try to increase their bankroll so they can stay in the game.

And of course, there are daily news items regarding the legality of daily fantasy sports, which affects all of us fantasy players.

Since all this is tough to keep up with, I’ll be providing weekly updates on the week that was in DraftKings new every week. I’ll fill you in on the newest millionaire and breakdown their lineups. Hopefully, we’ll both learn from this and have a better shot at winning some big money, or at least beating our friends more often.

I’ll also keep you updated on filthy politicians who make moves against DFS in order to keep us peasants safe from the dangers of wagering money on fantasy sports.

Let’s start with the newest DraftKings millionaire, TLEWIA. This user won a cool million dollars by playing fantasy football, not to mention he was helped by Kirk Cousins of all people! While you and I slave along at about 55 hours a week, this TLEWIA person has hit it big playing a game. Good for him.

Here’s a look at the lineup that gave him a big stack of cash that may allow the guy to at least think about quitting his job or finding one with less hours and a better boss.

Million-winner lineup draftkings movie tv tech geeksI’ve never sniffed 232 points or a million dollars.

My high point total was around 180 this season so far. Notice that the lineup had no QB-stacked with any of his WR or RB, which many claim is mandatory to win a big tournament with hundreds of thousands in the field.

Clearly it’s not. Every week is different in fantasy football.

TLEWIA used value plays with two of his three backs. Langford and West are backups that are seeing huge volume. The volume in their cases was more important than the matchups with tough defenses. They both catch lots of balls so even if their teams had been blown out, they still would have been part of the offense in garbage time.

The Milli Maker winner also used receivers with lots of red zone targets. These targets are more crucial than normal targets for obvious reasons.

It’s easy to dissect the genius of a lineup after a big win like this. But fantasy football is just like the real game. A yard or two here, a fumble there, and the games change. This user could have easily won no money with this lineup had Cousins had a bad game or West, and the Chiefs had their usual mundane offensive output.

To win a big money tournament, you have to differentiate yourself from the field. Picking two backup running backs against two great defenses did just that for TLEWIA. Having a super cheap QB at $5200 throw four touchdowns was a big help also. If I had Cousins, he would have thrown four picks, fumbled twice, and maybe even been arrested for murder at halftime.

Another big money tournament this week was won by SUPER123. He took down the NFL Thunderdome $500K GPP. He only scored 165.26 points, compared to the 232 that won the million dollar contest. Each tournament is different just like each week changes with upsets and injuries.

As for these big money winners. Do they just retire after a big win or only play big money contests after winning life changing money? Some don’t. User ChipotleAddict won 1.2 million dollars in week four and is still playing head to head contests for $1! Other sharks are notorious for scooping up games against newbies for a single dollar as well.

Why?

Because they can. It pays and if these guys are doing DFS full time they are trying to exploit every stream of revenue. It is kinda distasteful, but I can see why they would keep reaching for the low hanging fruit. It would be like winning the lottery then giving up a separate passive revenue stream that paid you like $500 a week for barely lifting a finger. Money’s money.

Now if you really want to feel bad about your pathetic fantasy football skills, this story is for you. Martha Barker (username MARTHABARKER) was in 16th place going into MNF in the Millionaire Maker. She was featured on DraftKings TV on their “Sweat Show” as she waited on the end results.

My first thought was she was just a puppet of one of her kids to make a good story, but she did seem authentic. She said she had played fantasy football since 2003 but had only been a DK user for five weeks. And here she sat 15 places from becoming a millionaire!

Her technique for setting lineups? Pen and paper son! Old school, taking Tuesday through Saturday to perfect her roster with the help of newspapers.

Martha did a great job as she was interviewed on the show. She was easy to root for having worked third shift at Walmart for 13 years before retiring. That alone made her a sympathetic character. Sitting on her webcam with a photo collage of her family in the background shouted “Granny.”

She didn’t win the million dollar top prize but was a great story and didn’t walk away empty handed by any means.

In legal news, New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has now targeted Yahoo! Daily Fantasy Sports just as he did with FanDuel and DraftKings. Yahoo! has only been subpoenaed, though it’s inevitable they will be treated in the same manner as the two industry giants.

Also in the freedom stomping state of New York, a court ruled against FanDuel and DraftKings who sought a restraining order against the attorney general which would have prohibited him from stopping the two companies’ operations in New York.

It’s no surprise that the same system that gives Eric Schneiderman, a known casino shill, all his power, would rule against any appeal that DK and FD would bring forward.

It’s crystal clear that some states are going to fight tooth and nail to hold onto their gambling monopolies. Whether those monopolies are casinos or the state lottery, some states will simply not be DFS friendly. DFS companies, mainly the two giants, are going to spend a ton of money on legal fees to try and beat a legal system that’s rigged.

It might be a better plan for DraftKings and FanDuel to focus money on politicians in more freedom loving states that won’t try to slaughter this new industry to keep the good ole boy network in tact. Of course then there’s the federal government to contend with since everything online is considered their jurisdiction.

Check back next week for more DFS news. Hopefully there will be more good news about guys and gals winning money and having a blast instead of more bad news for the industry as a whole.
