Kylie Jenner & Tyga On, Off, On While Tyra Banks Ditches Again

Unfortunately, rapper Tyga didn’t necessarily have the most joyful 26th birthday. It has been reported that his girlfriend Kylie Jenner broke up with the rapper on his special day.

Fans speculated a possible split when Kylie was nowhere to be seen in social media posts from his Tyga party. Shortly afterward, TMZ broke a story that Kylie had returned home prematurely from her business trip to Australia because of something that Tyga did.

An insider told E! News, “they are on a break. They were just a week or so ago talking about ‘ever after’ and things got messy this past week. Kylie wants time to just be by herself and do her. Tyga is not giving up as that’s his one and only lady.” Another insider went on to say that Tyga is “devastated,” and is adamant he “did nothing wrong.”

The couple started dating back in October 2014, and just recently Tyga gifted Kylie a Ferrari for her 18th birthday. However, Kylie didn’t return the favor as she, along with the whole Kardashian and Jenner clan, were MIA from his birthday dinner at The Nice Guy in West Hollywood. In addition, the clan was also notably missing at the after party held at 1Oak nightclub. Although, Tyga did have some other big name guests, including A$AP Rocky, Wiz Khalifa, Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio.

While Kylie and Tyga have not publicly come out to comment on the alleged split, Kylie did share a potentially telling video on her SnapChat. In it, the young star was seen singing along to Bryson Tiller’s “Been That Way,” which includes lyrics: “She don’t never want to see us go through round two/Cut her off that’s what I’ doing now, you/Told me I should go out and do my thing/ Damn right I do my thing”

As we know in Kardashian land, you can’t beat a tired story enough, so Kylie Jenner posted a pic of her and Tyga laying back stating ‘Everyone needs to chill.’ Girl, you should be grateful people still care enough to want to know. Just wait until it’s gone, and then you’ll be pulling out all your momma stunts to get attention.

tyra banks ditches another daytime show 2015 gossip

Tyra Banks is once again leaving daytime television. The supermodel announced that she is leaving her talk show FabLife, after just two months. Tyra’s representative confirmed that Tyra has decided to quit the show so that she can focus on her cosmetics line, Tyra Beauty.

Reports claim that Tyra plans to continue her role of executive producer through December. In addition, current co-hosts Chrissy Teigen, Joe Zee, Lauren Makk and Leah Ashley are expected to remain on the show. There are also no concrete plans to replace Tyra on the panel.

In a lengthy Instagram post-Tyra put up on Friday, she explains: “[Tyra Beauty] is all about being the CEO of your life, creating amazing opportunities and zagging when others zig. rhoa porsha williams wants more support for duke 2015 gossipPorsha Williams Hurt by Lack of Support for her Failed Duke Williams Relationship?

I don’t really know what it matters now being that the relationship is over, but Porsha Williams has opened up about her relationship with Duke Williams that recently went south.  In an interview with Bravo, she addresses the scene from last week’s episode in which she threw him a party and her friends and business partners had some less than friendly things to say about their relationship.

“… I have to say I was surprised…I feel like when I’m in a relationship, I’m at my best. I’ve always said, once I get my business in order, everything is good. If your personal life is good and you have a solid support system at home, you can go conquer the world… I think they were coming from a place of what would happen if I break up with that individual, and that could possibly be true.”

She also had something to say about the rumors people have been saying about her ex.

“I was shocked as hell. Honestly, I didn’t know all that gossiping was going on. Later when I found out, I was pissed. I was really upset because, as you can see, I put a lot into that freaking party.”

It is clear that she feels a certain kind of way about the whole situation, and it probably has everything to do with the fact that she was publicly embarrassed, and there is a TV show that forever solidifies it.

But that’s just my guess.

karrueche tran calls out chris brown again 2015 gossipKarrueche Tran calls Chris Brown Petty?

For all those who are hoping Karrueche Tran will eventually play mommy to Chris Brown’s daughter baby Royalty, forget that dream because there is no reunion in sight for these two.

Their subliminal messages via social media and face to face confrontations are clear indications that they are not feeling each other any longer, and just when you think it could be over, Karrrueche fan’s incite pettiness.

According to Urbanislandz.com, Chris Brown posted a video with an Asian woman dancing with the caption, “Check out BAE on the left.”

Karrueche’s fans tagging her in the video and more than likely the lyrics to his new song “Zero” in which he says, “I remember when we used to be in love / Now you Hollywood, tryna get your name up / Now when I look at you, all I see is a stranger” I bet are the reasons she posted her own video in which she asks, “To be petty or to not be petty, that is the question?”

You are right Karrueche; that is indeed the question.

Fantasy Football Quarterback Sleepers for NFL Week 11: Stafford & Romo

fantasy football quarterback sleepers matthew stafford 2015 nfl imagesThe Jacksonville Jaguars just won their fourth game of the season to kick off Week 11, moving them within half a game of the AFC South division lead. What a dark time we live in. The saddest part is, much like the NFC South last season, one of those teams will be hosting a playoff game.

Nonetheless, the playoffs are even closer in fantasy football, so it’s time to buckle down and Bush Push your team over the goal line. Here’s a little QB help for this week:

Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions: I have a hard time suggesting this man, as playing Stafford has been the world’s greatest leap of faith in 2015. Peyton Manning in Week 5 and Teddy Bridgewater last Sunday are the only two quarterbacks who failed to get over 20 points against the Oakland Raiders, however, so maybe things will be different this week.

At the same time, Stafford hasn’t scored more than 20 fantasy points since Week 7. The big reason he’s worth a shot for the QB needy is last week’s solid performance against the Green Bay Packers with 242 yards, two touchdowns, and only one interception. With a little luck, Stafford will build off last week and provide a solid backup option for those of you with a quarterback sitting out or on bye.

Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys: After sitting out since Week 2, I think Romo should be considered a sleeper. On top of that, Romo was available in the majority of fantasy football leagues this week, so those in need had a rare opportunity to pick up a decent QB for the rest of the season.

Whether or not the Cowboys can get back into the NFC East race will be completely up to Romo, and as always he has more than enough assistance in Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams, and Jason Witten to succeed. The Miami Dolphins have given up 20 or more points to four quarterbacks this season, so a solid return to action for Romo isn’t out of the question…well, provided he doesn’t break something again.

NHL Recap & Dallas Stars vs Sabres Preview

0

nhl recap dallas stars preview 2015 imagesThe Dallas Stars, following a surprising start to the 2015/16 NHL season, have emerged as one of the toughest teams to notch a point in the standings against. Currently in the midst of a four-game winning streak, Dallas have 32 points in the standings, they have a little bit of a lead in the Central Division, and they are rated first in Dan Rosen’s power rankings at NHL.com. Other division leaders include the New York Rangers, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Los Angeles Kings, teams that will all be in action this weekend.

Dallas have a game that should lead to two points in the standings. The Stars will host Buffalo on Saturday evening in a game that starts at 8 pm ET. The Sabres themselves aren’t playing all that badly lately, at least compared to what was expected of them. Buffalo, who were considered the worst team in pre-season rankings by many, have put together a mediocre string of games, going 5-3-2 in their last ten. However, the Stars are 7-2 from home this season while Buffalo are just 4-3-1 on the road. Look for the Stars to keep their momentum going on Saturday as they look to increase their lead in the Central Division.

The New York Rangers will also play on Saturday night as they travel down to Florida to take on the Panthers. New York recently saw their huge 9-game winning streak stopped, but they still have a comfortable 5-point lead in the Metropolitan Division over Washington. The Panthers are going through a bad patch at the moment, with just a 3-5-2 record in their last ten. Coach Gerard Gallant wants to get more pucks to the net. However, New York starting goalie Henrik Lundqvist has posted a .946 save percentage so far this season. Accordingly, Florida look outmatched at home as New York appear poised to return to their winning ways.

Montreal played on Friday night as Carey Price made his return to the lineup, helping his side to a 5-3 road win over the New York Islanders. Both teams are off on Saturday, but they will meet again in a game from the Bell Centre on Sunday evening (7 pm ET). Montreal have already won two games in their season series, outscoring the Islanders 9-4 in the process. The Habs were not at their very best without Price. However, they still have a very comfortable lead in the Atlantic Division, currently ahead of second place Ottawa by nine points.

Los Angeles also played a Friday, in a game that the Kings lost 3-2 against the Detroit Red Wings. LA are in the midst of a road trip, one that will bring them through Carolina on Sunday. That’s a team that the Pacific Division leaders should bounce back against as the Hurricanes are just 6-10-3 on the season and currently last in the Metro.

Lastly, television viewers in Canada will see, as always, the Toronto Maple Leafs featured on Hockey Night in Canada. The Leafs will travel to Boston to take on the Bruins in a game that starts at 7 pm ET. The late game on Saturday night will see a much more interesting match-up as the Vancouver Canucks host the Chicago Blackhawks (10 pm ET).

FanDuel’s Most Damning Documents Yet

FanDuel's Most Damning Documents Yet 2015 nfl images

This is gonna hurt me to write, but FanDuel really screwed up. Some documents they have entered into evidence in their lawsuit against the state of New York in order to keep operating there are quite damning.

It amazes me how big corporations get tripped up by their own internal documents once a legal investigation comes to their door. We’ve seen it with companies like Enron and Worldcom, where employees are told by management to bend the law and company rules or to outright break them.

These giant companies are too big to just have a face to face conversations. They like to be sure their workers get the message in black and white I guess.

For anyone unsure how daily fantasy sports came under the microscope of lawmakers and greedy politicians, it was two things. First FanDuel and DraftKings ran an insane amount of TV spots as the 2015 NFL season started. Then came the “insider trading” accusations when  DraftKings employee Ethan Haskell won $350,000 on FanDuel. He allegedly had access to lineup ownership rates (similar on both sites) which would have helped him set himself apart against a big field of other users.

[pdf-embedder url=”http://movietvtechgeeks.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/fanduel-playing-policy-nyc-attorney-general.pdf”]

The damning documents are part of FanDuel’s information and playing policy for their employees dating back before they were banned from playing on rival sites. You can read this evidence in its entirety at the end of this post.

Here’s a couple bullet points from the document and my explanation for those of you who are just casual DFS players.

  • “Limit ability of employees to exploit “inside information” such as the picks of top users, or the win rates of potential opponents.”

FanDuel recognized that some of their employees would have access to insider info that could help them win, yet didn’t feel the need to ban their workers from playing on other websites. It’s one thing for me to see who mega DFS player CONDIA drafted after a contest is over. That information may be a little helpful for me as I build a lineup for the next week, but clearly not nearly as helpful as seeing his lineup before any contest started for the current week. A FanDuel worker could simply copy CONDIA’s lineup in head to head matches and figure on winning against other users since CONDIA is very consistent and makes a living playing fantasy sports.

Also just seeing the win rates of users would be super helpful. A FanDuel employee with access to that info could just enter 50/50 contests with large numbers of users with win rates under 10%. These workers could also take on users in head to head matches with low win rates and avoid the really good players.

I’d love to have access to win rates!

The point below will have lawyers salivating.

  • “Never be among the top five players by volume on any one site (based on site leaderboards). Never be among the top ten overall on the RotoGrinders leaderboard. Top players frequently become targets for accusations by other users.”

FanDuel management knew how bad it would look if one of their workers were at the top of the heap on another DFS site. For any worker at that time who was not bright enough to figure out they could use their own company’s data to exploit opponents on rival websites, this bullet point would have showed them the light!

In short it says employees should sandbag their efforts when playing fantasy sports on rival websites so the spotlight doesn’t shine on them should they start winning too much.

It’s unbelievable to me that FanDuel would know the scrutiny that would come if “insider trading” came to light in the DFS community and did not do something about it. This little memo to employees was just a suggestion on how to not look shady.

It was not a memo designed to protect the average DFS player.

Banning employees from playing on other sites should have happened long before everyone took notice with Ethan Haskell’s big win. Now it’s too late and FanDuel has given the government even more ammunition to take them down.

The need for this internal memo should have told management at FanDuel that it was not worth the risk letting its workers play on other sites. Although I do see the desire for these guys and girls working in the industry to be able to play the game they work around. Many employees at DFS companies were fantasy players long before they started getting a paycheck to work in the business.

It just wasn’t worth the risk for FanDuel and DraftKings to let it continue once DFS became a high stakes game and the world took notice. Whatever gain the workers might have gotten on a few DFS wins were nothing compared to all the investment money that may go down the drain if the government is successful in crushing each and every DFS company in existence.

Politicians were going to come after this new industry no matter what. Once FanDuel and DraftKings began basically printing money, politicians were going to come out of the woodwork to protect their constituents (lobbyists that pay for their $200 lunches).

Letting the insider information problem continue as long as it did just gave these government officials another excuse to come down hard on daily fantasy sports.

Robbie Lawler: MMA’s Underrated & Underappreciated

0

robbie lawler mma underrated 2015 ufc imagesMMA Spotlight: Robbie Lawler

Occasionally a competitor in a sport will, for whatever reason, fail to achieve the level of respect and attention that’s deserved. Maybe it’s because of timing, or perhaps it’s due to the athlete’s attitude outside of competition.

In Robbie Lawler’s case, the fans and media are likely taking his impressive latest run—and career—for granted.

And given just how long “Ruthless” has been a part of the MMA world, it’s easier to do than one would think.

Lawler made his professional debut in 2001, under the tutelage of UFC Hall of Fame member Pat Miletich. For reasons that are now clear, Lawler won his first bout—at just nineteen years of age—via first-round TKO. After three additional first-round stoppage victories, Lawler would be invited to the UFC.

Fans may not have known it then, but the unknown twenty-year-old newcomer would be battling the elite athletes of the MMA world for the next decade and a half, at the least.

Although the next seven years of his MMA career would be important, there’s simply too much to mention to successfully drive the point of his lack of recognition today home. Competing in several promotions and facing no shortage of elite competitors between 2002 and 2007, Lawler would secure victories over Chris Lytle, Frank Trigg, Murilo Rua, and Scott Smith. Then, in his first fight of 2009, Lawler would make his Strikeforce debut against Jake Shields, entering the modern-day phase of his career that boasts the championship-caliber fighter we know today.

Lawler lost to Shields. And although he fought elite competition while in Strikeforce, he wasn’t able to achieve the consistency required to put a win streak together. During his three-year promotional tenure, Lawler was unable to win two consecutive bouts. Although it must be emphasized, once again, that he was fighting elite competitors, the competition clearly wasn’t the problem with his career, as demonstrated by his recent title-clinching win streak.

Nevertheless, Lawler would enter the UFC (after Zuffa purchased Strikeforce) with a final Strikeforce record of four wins and four losses, off the heels of a loss to Lorenz Larkin. Accordingly, Lawler’s return to the welterweight division was one that many weren’t investing heavily in, partially due to his recent career happenings, and partly due to his quality opponent, Josh Koscheck.

Despite being a +250 underdog at the time of the bout, Lawler would defeat Koscheck via first-round TKO. Even with this impressive upset under his belt, if one were to claim that Lawler would secure UFC Welterweight Championship the very next year (or any year, to be honest), the comment would have been met with scoffs and words of doubt.

The fans didn’t yet know that Lawler had finally—after twelve years of competing against the elite of the elite—put it all together.

He would string together two additional wins over Bobby Voelker and Rory MacDonald before challenging Johny Hendricks for the welterweight belt. Although he came up short on the judges’ scorecards in this Fight of the Year effort, it was clear to many fans of the sport that Lawler was a new and improved athlete.

Even with this newfound respect from many, there were still individuals doubting the resurgence and evolution of Lawler. This was clear when, after fighting his way back to another title shot with wins over Jake Ellenberger and Matt Brown, Lawler closed as a +200 underdog against Hendricks.

Apparently the oddsmakers—and the fans, given the direction of the bets—forgot the viciously tough fight that Lawler gave Hendricks the last time around. Lawler ended up winning via split-decision—highlighting and complementing over a decade of hard work and effort.

And despite the magnitude of this victory, as well as his next defense (another underdog triumph) against Rory MacDonald, Lawler still didn’t and doesn’t receive the respect and appreciation that he deserves. As was initially mentioned, it’s almost as though fans take the longtime competitor for granted.

Robbie Lawler is one of the few MMA fighters today (or ever) who was truly able to put everything together; all of his skills, techniques, and experience culminated to form a truly world-class fighter. What’s even more special about this ultra-rare type of athlete is that Lawler still represents the old-school MMA fighter; he simply shows up and fights.

And perhaps that’s another reason why he hasn’t quite achieved the recognition and respect he deserves. With Ruthless, there isn’t any forced trash talking promoting his bouts, nor are there any controversial actions outside of the Octagon to propel his career. Lawler does his speaking with his techniques, inside the Octagon; perhaps that’s not enough today.

More pressingly, Lawler looks out for his teammates and fellow athletes through forms of media which could certainly shape his following. A quick glance at his Twitter timeline will reveal several “retweets” of fellow fighters. Whether these mentions were for a birthday, new sponsorship, or to congratulate a recent victory, not many fighters can claim to be so undramatic, balanced, and invested in the well-being of others.

In the era of social media call-outs and trash-talking galore—which can be undoubtedly entertaining, and have cemented their place in the sport—it’s refreshing to find a fighter (a champion, no less) who simply isn’t interested in the “drama.” Lawler shows up and not only fights but truly battles each of his opponents.

Currently scheduled to face Carlos Condit at UFC 195, Lawler appears to be commanding more respect, in the way of betting odds. Nevertheless, one can’t help but be reminded that there aren’t as many fans getting excited about this fight as there should be. With all of the talk about Rousey and Demetrius Johnson making history each time they fight, it’s clear that the promotional efforts behind Lawler’s career are comparatively diluted and unenthusiastic. When he made his professional debut, both Johnson and Rousey were unable to compete professionally, being under the age of eighteen.

It’s hard to say if Lawler will emerge victorious against Condit; “The Natural Born Killer” is a dangerous opponent for any welterweight in the world. But fans can be sure of one thing: Lawler won’t complain or falsely promote the fight, and when the cage door shuts, he’ll bring it. Just like he has every single time he’s fought; years of experience have formed a true fighter.

Lawler is making history just as much—and likely more than—other fighters that receive much more press, attention, and praise. What you see is what you get with Ruthless, and it’s time that fans truly understand, appreciate, and get excited about everything he brings to the sport—as an athlete and a person.

Khloe Kardashian Lashes & Jennifer Lawrence Talks Embarrassing Moments

khloe kardashian lashes back 2015 gossipOn Thursday morning, the Today show aired a pre-taped interview with reality star Khloe Kardashian. In the segment, Khloe opened up to Today host Natalie Morales about Lamar Odom’s health crisis.

In the interview, Khloe recounts the initial phone call she received telling her the news. She admits, “It’s a horrible call to get. Getting to the hospital and knowing he’s in a coma and having to run these tests or make medical decisions. It’s terrifying.”

Since Khloe and Lamar’s divorce was in the midst of being processed, they were (and still are) married and therefore, Khloe has been in control of the decisions made for Lamar’s care at the hospital.

Khloe goes on to reveal some of the traumatic decisions she was forced to make, saying, “You have to make risk-and-reward decisions. Like, OK, well, there’s an 80 percent chance if we do this operation, he might pass away. But also if we don’t do it, there’s a 90 percent chance he’ll pass away.”

Fortunately, Khloe confirmed that Lamar is now off life-support machines and is slowly beginning his rehabilitation. Khloe explains, “He is learning how to walk again and learning…cognitive therapy and speech therapy.” She went on to add, “[the doctors] think, like, within a year and a half to two years, that, mentally, he might be fully recovered. But they don’t know.”

Unfortunately, Khloe faced some backlash on social media when she tweeted about being at her boyfriend James Hardens’ basketball game on Wednesday night. One fan called out the star for having two men in her life. Khloe was quick to fire back, “You should have said those to the man who went against all our vows. Judge yourself. F*** off.”

Later, Khloe admitted she was on antibiotics for an illness that forced her to cancel some of her book tour and felt that her tweets may have been a bit harsh due to being somewhat under the influence. TMZ is reporting that she had a staph infection.

Khloe Kardashian, Twitter Posts:

jennifer lawrence talks embarrassing moments 2015 gossipGearing up for the release of the final installment of the Hunger Games series – Mockingjay Part II, actress Jennifer Lawrence opened up while on Jimmy Fallon about some of the most embarrassing moments of her career. Surprisingly, this didn’t include her infamous fall at the Oscars.

Jennifer went on to explain a particularly cringe-worthy incident when she was promoting Silver Linings Playbook. Jennifer said she was at a Hollywood party when a friendly, older woman approached her to say hello. Jen said that she immediately thought the woman was Elizabeth Taylor (who had passed away in 2011). She went on to explain how she complimented the woman on all of her huge movies and fashion moments. However, her friend was quick to inform her that the lady was in fact not Elizabeth Taylor, as she was no longer alive.

Jennifer also told the audience about the time she met Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola at a restaurant. Lawrence said she decided to walk up to him barefoot, hoping he wouldn’t notice. However, it wasn’t her feet that he was worried about, as Jennifer’s entire dress was zipped down and exposing her backside to the world.

Considering even her co-star Liam Hemsworth describes her as a “very clumsy” woman, I think we will see, or at least hear, plenty more of these stories about Jennifer.

Heroes & Zeros: Spike Lee & Toya Wright

0

heroes zeros spike lee toya wright 2015 imagesThis week’s Heroes and Zeroes is a black movie making who finally gets his due and a wife soon to be ex-wife who’s whose cheating hall passes to her husband didn’t work.

Hero- Spike Lee

People give acclaimed director Spike Lee a hard time. In particular, black people give acclaimed director Spike Lee a hard time. To a lot of us, he is either way too far over there or not enough over here, and criticism of the work he does for the black community is not how it should be.

After years of making movies in Hollywood that have spoken to and about the black folks, he was presented with an honorary Academy Award recently for his work it the cinema. To say that he deserves, it is an understatement. From “Do the Right Thing to “Malcolm X,” this kind of recognition is a long time coming for Lee.

During his acceptance speech, he touched on a conversation that continues to finds its way into the mainstream that, without a doubt, should. The lack of diversity in Hollywood and the fact that Lee was GIVEN an “honorary” Oscar for his work speaks to a truth that a lot of industry people don’t want to admit. And of course, because Spike Lee is Spike Lee, that truth was a talking point in his speech.

“We can talk, you know, yabba, yabba, yabba, but we need to have some serious discussion about diversity, and get some flave up in this… This industry is so far behind sports; it’s ridiculous. It’s easier to be president of the United States as a black person than be head of a studio. Honest.”

What he said is true, and people can scoff at it and call it a tired conversation that has been dealt with but those that do are wrong.

This is a major stepping stone for the Academy, who cannot deny the “privilege” that is represented in its membership that subsequently, reflects in who wins awards each year.

Spike Lee keeping it real and the Acadamy giving him his long overdue Oscar = Hero.heroes zeros toya wright 2015 opinion

Zero- Toya Wright

By now we have all heard about the fact that Toya Wright, who is pretty much famous for being Lil Wayne’s first baby momma, gives her current but soon to be ex-husband, Memphitz Wright a “hall pass” to cheat eight times a year. She is now defending her choice to not only give him the hall passes but to say that she does and for this reason, is s a zero.

Here’s the issue I have when women in rap especially by association and not because they have a talent, do stuff like this- it makes it okay. Or at least, it makes it seems like these kinds of things in relationships are okay, and they are not okay.

Yes, if that’s what they do then that’s them, that’s their relationship, and I totally agree, but we have to take into consideration the influence that that will have on other women and girls who are in relationships with men like rappers and athletes who have women around them all the time. Just because your occupation involves you always being offered sex does not mean that your woman should bend in order to deal with your infidelity. If you can’t stay faithful, don’t’ get married if you want to get married, stay faithful damn it.

The fact that Memphitz “don’t like rules” is not Toya’s problem. It’s his problem, and this is what she and other women have to understand. By telling your man that he can cheat “no questions asked,” eight times a year you devalue yourself, and it feeds into whatever self-centered issues he has to believe that he can “have his cake and eat it too.” No woman should have to go through that. And no man should want her to nor put her through that.

The thing that is really messed up about this too is that guess what? The hall passes didn’t work as the two are estranged and in the process of getting a divorce. Toya wants to blame K. Michelle, Memphitz wants to blame Toya, but how about they look at the lack of faith and trust they have in their relationship? Oh wait, they can’t… because letting your man cheat with your permission, eight times a year is a formula for failure, and that’s exactly what happened to their marriage.

Toya Wright’s letting the world know she let her husband cheat on her is “zero” behavior.

Anonymous vs ISIS: A Battle Of Wits or Wills?

Anonymous vs. ISIS

“Make no mistake: #Anonymous is at war with #Daesh. We won’t stop opposing #IslamicState. We’re also better hackers #OpISIS,”

— Anonymous

The hashtag #Daesh alone means that Anonymous means business, as members of ISIS or ISIL consider the term derogatory. Shortly after the Paris attacks, the hacktivist group Anonymous threatened war against ISIS, saying it will shut down the terrorists’ in cyberspace. True to their word, as they did with the Ku Klux Klan, Anonymous managed to take down over 5,500 IS Twitter accounts and uncovered at least five individuals associated with the jihadists. This may just be the beginning, and if it is, it’s downright scary to think if each of the 5500 Twitter accounts represents one individual.

“The purpose of this Op is to identify and report supporters of the atrocious November 13th, 2015 Paris attacks in an effort to assist finding those responsible, demonstrating that we do not tolerate such atrocities and gather information that could help prevent further attacks in the future,”

— Anonymous

This latest effort by the hacker group, if acknowledged the authorities, will be of great help in curbing the terrorist group’s recruitment efforts which often targets the youth of various countries. The recruits, individuals from teenagers to their early thirties make their way to Syria through various routes in order to be trained to fight within ISIS-controlled territories or like viruses or Trojan horses, return home and create their own terrorist cells, just like what happened in Paris as some of the Paris suspects were allegedly Frenchmen or foreign residents.

Like many recruits, friends or family members say these terrorists were formerly well-behaved, friendly, pleasant guys. People you normally wouldn’t associate with terrorism. One example was Jihadi John, who was said to have been killed recently in an airstrike. Whatever methods ISIS employs in their recruitments is so powerful that despite repeated warnings, people continue to pour into Syria and join their ranks, composed of supposedly ‘nice’ individuals. Despite their barbaric behavior, ISIS is no stranger to using the internet as a tool to get their messages across. They use social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube to spread the word or to spread terror. There’s even news that members are also into gaming and are currently chatting t unsuspecting gamers within PSN and Xbox Live. Anonymous now plans to take that tool away by threatening major cyber attacks against alleged ISIS websites, compromising bank accounts and identifying social media accounts.

Just like what they did with the Ku Klux Klan, which is identified as a right-wing extremist group, therefore, illegal in the United States, Anonymous has released a list of alleged ISIS members and accounts used by the terrorist group. The data will keep the authorities busy for some time should they acknowledge Anonymous’ assistance. Even if the authorities don’t take them seriously, Anonymous has helped in thinning ISIS ranks a little and make those millions of dollars’ worth of airstrikes actually means something.

Anonymous said that they’ve been onto ISIS for some time now, but they only announced their efforts on the group after the Paris attacks. Better late than never in their announcement and perhaps the scope of the problem has become so big, they’re pushing governments to step up their game and that because of their slow response, vigilante groups like Anonymous has to step in.

First the KKK, now ISIS. Even though vigilantism is frowned upon by many societies, we can’t help but root for these guys. One could say that they’re a bunch of digital superheroes fighting for what they see is right; but as a hacker group, they can sometimes be disruptive to businesses and some governments they don’t agree with. Anonymous isn’t exactly Captain America but more like the Punisher or Batman. But dark times makes for some strange bedfellows and so far Anonymous is putting themselves in a positive light.

As mentioned, ISIS can be very, very persuasive that they can lure decent individuals to a life of cold, sadistic violence. Hopefully, no Anonymous member peeks too deeply into that insane rabbit hole or the group may find themselves infiltrated as well. The hacking skills at their disposal could mean very bad news to the free world. For now, its hats off to Anonymous. Keep up the good work.

Golden State Warriors Just Too Good & Jerry West Takes Notice

golden state warriors remain too good 2015 nba imagesMy New Orleans Pelicans had to play the Golden State Warriors in their home opener and in our home opener. It’s not fair.

Thought Steve Kerr’s absence would hinder them a bit? Nope. It’s not fair.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have us trained to the point where we all genuinely expect every single three-point shot to fall. It’s not fair.

They’re too good. They’re way too good. Winning back-to-back championships in any professional sport isn’t easy, but at this point anything less from them would shock the basketball world. It’s not fair.

To put it bluntly, the Golden State Warriors just aren’t fair. They’re too damn good. I would say they must be cheating but if you’ve ever played with a deflated basketball you know it’s significantly more difficult. They just win word to the late Al Davis.

This is a team with NBA MVP Stephen Curry and the best supporting cast in the league. They’re coming off 67 wins last season, an insane 39-2 home regular season record, and an NBA Championship. The part that’s truly impossible to fathom is that this team is only going to get better, and NBA legends have begun to recognize that.

“This is still a young team,” said Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Famer Jerry West. “What I love about them is their attitude and the way they love playing with each other. They realize they have a great opportunity. They can be a really good team for a long time.”

When you or I say this team is good, no one really cares. When West says it, people listen. Even though he is the Warriors’ head consultant and a minor owner of the franchise, he’s still a well-respected basketball legend.

“What people miss is how well these guys pass the ball. It’s really not something you see very often. Most teams have at least one guy who is a ball-stopper on offense, but these guys look for each other. Steph will shoot it, of course, but he shoots it so quickly, and he shoots it from everywhere. There’s not a place on the floor you can take away.”

Basically. He’s been completely unstoppable this season. Once again, though, you or I saying that Steph is the best shooter we’ve ever seen isn’t exactly worth of the front page of Reddit. When the 77-year-old Hall of Famer says, the Chef is the best shooter he’s ever seen, however…well, that’s a game changer.

Let’s not forget that Steve Kerr is still on his leave of absence battling back issues. Luke Walton is undefeated as the Warriors head coach. Clearly the Pelicans picked the wrong Golden State assistant.

Nonetheless, this is a team that will only get better when Kerr is back where he belongs. He just has a knack for his players that really makes him special.

“The way Steve handles his job and represents this franchise to everyone…I’m not sure anybody could do it better,” continued West, who was the Lakers head coach from 1976-1979. “He’s an incredible communicator. Every player knows what is being asked of him. I think Steve took a lot out of his time in San Antonio with Gregg Popovich and also from his days with Phil [Jackson and the Chicago Bulls]. You can see a lot of San Antonio in how he approaches everything he does.”

Pop definitely has the recipe for success hidden somewhere behind that grumpy exterior. I think Kerr’s one season as a head coach is more than enough to show that he found it.

“I think our team can get a lot better,” said West.

It’s not fair.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Quest For Top Four Finish

tottenham hotspurs quest for top four 2015 soccer imagesTottenham Hotspur are currently occupying the fifth spot in the league standings with a tally of 21 points from their first 12 games of the ongoing Premier League season. After a faltering start to their season as they lost their league opener to Manchester United at Old Trafford narrowly, they have steadily picked up form and are turning in improved displays every passing week.

The north London outfit has grown exceedingly since the appointment of former Espanyol and Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino at the Hotspur helm in the summer of 2014. The Lilywhites finished fifth in the Argentine’s first season at White Hart Lane, but it wasn’t just a credible finish that won him the trust of the club faithful, but it was the style that Pochettino promoted at the club.

Most significantly, the Hotspurs faithful were delighted with their manager’s inclination of promoting players from the club’s youth academy. Youngsters like Nabil Bentaleb, Eric Dier, Ryan Mason and Harry Kane became regular fixtures for the north Londoners in the 2014/15 season. The latter two went on to win their first senior caps for the England national team and have attracted the attentions of some of the European powerhouses.

Kane has been increasingly linked with Manchester United for a big money transfer; however, much to the delight of the Lilywhites faithful, the long-time Tottenham Hotspur supporter has said that he intends to stay at the club for the foreseeable future and has no inclination to move away from White Hart Lane.

Pochettino has continued to promote youngsters at the club and his 2015 winter transfer window signing Dele Alli has been a revelation for the club. The youngster has gone on to make 16 appearances for the first team and has contributed two goals as well as an assist to his team’s cause. The 19-year-old has gone on to attract the attention of Roy Hodgson, who called him up to the England senior team in their recent friendly against France, and the youngster justified the manager’s faith by scoring a scorching long distance goal to open the Three Lions’ scoring.

Tottenham Hotspur also did good business in the summer transfer window and have brought in the likes of Clinton Njie, Heung-Min Son and Toby Alderweireld amongst others. The trio has settled well into the first team, and Spurs look better for their addition.

Pochettino’s men have given some great displays this term and defeated the table toppers Manchester City, and they did it in style beating the Citizens 4-1 at White Hart Lane. They secured a 1-1 draw from the north London derby at the Emirates Stadium and would feel let down for losing two points from the encounter as they dominated Arsenal for large stretches of the game.

If they continue playing at the same level, and their fellow top four competitors like Liverpool and Chelsea do not get their house in order than the Lilywhites will fancy their chances of securing a top-four finish come the season’s end.
