American League Week 21 Recap: Blue Jays Flying High In East

american league week 21 blue jays flying high 2015 mlb 2015The long 162 game Major League Baseball season continues to provide us excitement as the playoff picture continues to look cloudy in the American League. The latest stretch of play includes watching the Toronto Blue Jays remain atop the American League East despite a pesky New York Yankees team sitting just a game and half back in the standings.

Along with the Blue Jays, the Kansas City Royals continue to be the heavy favor to take home the American League Central crown. This comes after the team built a double digit lead in the standings nearly three weeks ago. Add in the fact that team consistenly puts together runs of winning at least seven or eight games over a ten game stretch they are making it hard for anyone to catch them.

Then out in the American League West the Houston Astros continue to hold a slight lead over the rest of the division. This comes after the team has manage to win just five games over their last ten games. That includes losing back to back games heading into the teams off day on Thursday September 3rd, 2015.

Now since we have taken a quick look at each of the three American League Division leaders, lets take a look at each of the divisions a little deeper. Here is our American League recap for the past week of the 2015 Major League Baseball Season.

American League East: The only question fans are left to wonder is which of the top two teams in the division will finally build a commanding lead. Currently the Blue Jays hold the top spot after winning eight of their past ten games including their last two contests.

Just below the Blue Jays in the standings sit the Yankees who have also won two straight games as well as six of their last ten games. When we look at these two teams their remaining schedule includes a ton of contests against the division. For the Blue Jays this includes six against the Boston Red Sox, seven against the Yankees, seven against the Baltimore Orioles and six against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees on the other hand have six remaining against the Rays, seven against the Blue Jays, six against the Rays and three against the Red Sox.

Meanwhile the rest of the division has played less than stellar ball for most of the last month. This includes an Orioles team that made a charge in early August to get back to a wild card berth. Since that point the Orioles have fallen to five games under the five hundred mark while losing eight of their past ten games.

Then you have the Rays who currently sit in third place at just a game behind the five hundred mark. Neither of these teams have the balance on there roster to find a way to play themselves back into the playoff picture with just a few weeks remaining on the schedule. They do however have a chance to play spoilers like we saw from the Orioles just a few seasons back.

American League Central: As the 2014 MLB World Series closed out the first thing that raced to our mind was the fact the Royals were the runner up team. Then the 2015 MLB season approached and so many experts had the Royals finishing in the middle of the pact with some experts putting their success last year on a fluke then the talent this team had.

Fast forward to September and this Royals team has a commanding 12 game lead over the entire Central Division. That comes despite the solid season the Minnesota Twins have put together. Outside of the Twins the rest of the American League Central has been a big disappointment including a Detroit Tigers team that currently sits in last place in the division.

Now for the Royals they have used solid ten game clips including the team’s current stretch of winning seven of ten games to build this lead. The team’s recent success could also be pointed at the recent success of Yordano Ventura in the rotation. Ventura has been brilliant over the past month of the season allowing just four earned runs over his last 32 innings of work while picking up four wins.

Along with the Royals the other hot team is the Twins who have won eight of their past ten games after struggling for a small stretch to start August. The team’s recent stretch of play has positioned them at 69-64 and less than two games behind the Texas Rangers for the second wild card spot.

American League West: For the Houston Astros the 2015 MLB season can’t wrap up soon enough after holding the top spot for most of the season. The teams recent stretch of winning just five of their last ten games but still manage to hold a two game lead over the Rangers.

Despite winning just five of their lat ten games the team has picked up a three game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers, two of three against the New York Yankees. The downside the team lost two of three to the red hot Twins and two of three against a struggling Seattle Mariners team.

While the Astros have played to just a five hundred record of late the Rangers have made a move in the division. This comes after taking two of three from the San Diego Padres and a three game sweep over a very bad Orioles team. Prior to that the Orioles had last two of three to the Blue Jays after taking three of four against the Tigers.

Outside of the top two teams the only other shot for a playoff spot would be the Angels if they can manage to put together a hot stretch in September. Currently the Angels hold just a 67-66 record after fighting to first place before the 2015 MLB All-Star game.

Caitlyn Jenner Gets Conservative With Ellen & Emily Ratajkowski’s Blurred Shame

caitlyn jenner gets conservative with ellen degeneres 2015 gossipWith her 13th season of her show kicking off on Tuesday, Ellen DeGeneres made sure to bring in some big names in Hollywood to help her start the show. Therefore on Tuesday, Caitlyn Jenner will be Ellen’s first guest of the season.

The 65-year-old former Olympian is seen in the promos wearing a black knee-length skirt, white blouse and bright red nails. In her interview, she opens up to Ellen about her family, marriage and her pursuit of a new normal.

In the interview, Ellen asks Caitlyn about her identification as a conservative Republican in the past. Ellen says, “It’s not a bad thing, the only thing is, a lot of republicans…would vote against all the issues that you as a woman and you as a transperson would want to support.”

In which Caitlyn replies, “I agree with that in some cases.”

Caitlyn goes on to explain her views on same-sex marriages saying, “Gay marriage. I have to admit that I remember 15 years ago, 20 years ago whenever it was the whole gay marriage issue came up at first, I was not for it. I mean I thought I am a traditionalist I mean I’m older than most people in the audience. I mean I like tradition and it’s always been between a man and a woman and I’m thinking I don’t quite get it. But as time goes on, like a lot of people on this issue I’ve really changed thinking here, to I don’t ever want to stand in front of anybody’s happiness. That’s not my job. Ok. If that word marriage is really, really that important to you I can go with it.”

After sensing hesitance Ellen replies, “it’s funny because you’re still a little not on board with it.”

In response, Caitlyn reassures her saying, “No, I’m on board. It’s going to be pretty much the law of the land. So I still like yea, I’m ok with it. I don’t want to stand in front of somebodies happiness.”

You can catch the full interview when Ellen premieres on September 8th.

According to her new interview with InStyle UK, model and actress Emily Ratajkowski is not too proud of her role in the infamous music video for Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines.’

The song has stirred up plenty of controversy over its sexually explicit lyrics. It continued to draw up criticism when it released a racy music video that showed Emily, along with other models, dancing around in next to nothing.

Emily reveals in her interview, “I wasn’t into the idea [of the music video] at all at first. I think I came off as a bit annoyed in the video.”

She continues to explain saying, “[the video], it’s the bane of my existence. When anybody comes up to me about ‘Blurred Lines,’ I’m like. ‘Are we seriously talking about a video from three years ago?”

Arguably, Emily’s role in the video was a big catapult for her career in the industry. Prior to dancing around alongside Robin Thicke, Emily had appeared in a lesser-known movie called A Year in the Day and had a reoccurring spot on ICarly. However, after the video Emily snagged roles in hit movies such as Gone Girl and Entourage, as well as was a co-star to Zac Efron in We Are Your Friends.

In the unrated version (seen below) of the video Emily is seen nude, therefore when asked about the subject Emily told Instyle UK, “It’s weird to me that the reaction to a woman’s naked body is so controversial in our culture. My mom taught me to never apologize for my sexuality. My dad never made me feel embarrassed. I don’t think I’ve ever had an awareness of my own body as being super-sexual. It was always just my body.”

BIG BROTHER 1731 Meg & James Out Steve In

big brother 1731 meg james evicted recap 2015 imagesIt was double eviction nite on last night’s episode of “Big Brother,” Meg sarcastically thanked Vanessa for nothing. James said if Julia doesn’t get evicted people are missing the chance to break up the alliance between Austin and the twins. John told Vanessa he needed to piss some people off on the jury. Vanessa said the whole jury hates her and she went against Austin and the twins for John’s sake. Vanessa and John talked about the fact that no one in the house knows they have an alliance.

Steve said getting rid of Julia would be an advantage to other house guests. Vanessa told Steve that Meg and James will never work with them. Steve got sick from the stress of trying to decide who to evict. Meg said she’s lost a lot of friends in this game and she has played as an independent individual. Julia said she was happy she got to know everyone in the house and she needs to prove Zingbot wrong.

big brother 1731 meg kissing james

Liz, Steve, John and Austin chose to evict Meg. James voted to evict Julia. Meg told Julie Chen she felt like there was a plan to get James out of the house and she is happy he’s still there. Meg said she didn’t regret helping get Shelli evicted. She said she never knows how to take Vanessa and that she always wanted Vanessa out of the house.

This week’s head of household competition is the BB Road Trip. They were shown pairs of photos and had to answer true/false questions about the photos. Liz won head of household for the week. She then nominated James and John for eviction.

This week’s power of veto competition is called boomerang. Each player got two shots to roll a ball around a boomerang into a slot with a number value attached to it. The player that gets the highest score wins power of veto for the week. Julia won power of veto and had to quickly decide if she was going to use it. James said he appreciates everyone’s friendship and he loves the game. John said it would be awesome if Julia used her veto on him but she chose not to.

James asked the house guests to keep him in the game because he is doing it for his daughter. John asked them to please vote for him to stay in the house. Austin, Julia, Steve and Vanessa voted to evict James. James said he knew he was a huge threat in this game and he knew he’d be the next to go. He said he was out of the loop while he and Meg were up for eviction. Julie asked him why he didn’t play the game aggressively and he said because those people always get evicted.

SPOILER ALERT:

After the double eviction intensity where Meg and James were sent to the jury house, Steve won HOH yet again, so we know that he’ll be calling out for his mommy again along with scrunching his face and talking about how it’s too intense for him. Then he’ll do what Vanessa wants since she can bully him into real fierce. It’s now that time in the game when everyone’s realizing they should have made better moves. Would Vanessa have ousted Meg and James if they’d talked more to her about Austin?

Now that the house has two divisions of three with Vanessa gleefully jumping among both, watching her neurotic paranoia kick in overdrive should be interesting to watch.

Donald Trump Signs Over His Future To Republicans & Justin Bieber Goes Deep

justin bieber with jimmy fallon 2015 gossipJustin Bieber made his big comeback on stage at the 2015 MTV VMAs last Sunday. However, it wasn’t his singing or dancing that got people talking. The Biebs broke down on stage after his performance, seemingly in tears from overpowering emotion.

Since then, many have speculated whether the emotional breakdown was staged or whether Bieber truly felt that overwhelmed in the moment.

Therefore, when the 21-year-old pop star was a guest on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, he made sure to clear the air.

At first Justin joked saying, “harnesses suck, right? It pulls on the junk.” (Note: he donned a harness during his VMA performance).

Shortly after, Justin got serious and explained to Jimmy Fallon, “[the performance] was so overwhelming for me, everything – just the performance. I missed some cues, so I was a little disappointed at that, and just everyone and just their support. I was, honestly – let me breathe for a second – I just wasn’t expecting them to support me in the way they did. Last time I was at an award show, I was booed.”

The young pop star went on to say, “I think it’s just like I’ve worked so hard at this album, I’ve worked so hard at just becoming the man I want to become, and then stepping into situations, you just can’t help but feel judged. So, I was just feeling judged and wanting to win so badly, and just wanting to do what I love so badly that I just put everything on the line. And I think that that was what was so special about the emotional moment at the end, that it was authentic. It was real. It was like I really just wanted it so bad. I don’t know. I’m just ranting now.”

Justin has been public about his desire to change his bad-boy reputation and is gearing up to release a new album that he has described as “inspirational.” When Jimmy Fallon brought up his troubled past few years Bieber explained, “What it was is that I had a bunch of knuckleheads around me; that was pretty much it. It’s never good to have knuckleheads around. I just went through a place of just trying to figure it out and make decisions. You have to figure out what you’re OK with and you’re not OK with, but you have to test the waters. I just happened to be in the spotlight, in front of cameras all the time, and they caught all those moments.”

After his interview, Justin joined Fallon’s Questlove for a drum-off and afterwards performed his new hit song ‘What Do You Mean?’

donald trump signs over future to republican loyalty pledge 2015 gossipEarly Thursday, presidential hopeful Donald Trump signed a loyalty pledge with the Republican party, promising that he will not run as an independent or with a third-party if he loses the Republican Party nomination.

During the Thursday press conference Trump said, “The best way for Republicans to win is if I win the nomination and go directly against whoever they happen to put up and for that reason, I have signed the pledge. So I will be totally pledging my allegiance to the Republican Party and the conservative principles for which it stands and we will go out and we will fight hard and we will win.”

Confidently Trump announced, “we will win and most importantly, we will make our country great again, because that’s what it’s all about. We have to make our country great again.”

Since announcing his candidacy in June, Donald has continuously come out ahead of his fellow GOP candidates in the polls. However, he has also sparked controversy on numerous occasions, most notably when he made bold comments regarding Mexican immigrants.

It’s interesting in that forcing people to sign a ‘loyalty pledge’ feels like a fraternal rite of passage, but now the Republicans can do what they can to force Trump out of the race. I was frankly shocked that he signed the pledge as no one tells Donald what to do, but if he gets pushed out of the race, it’ll be interesting to see if he jumps to a third party anyway since it’s obvious he was force to sign this silly piece of paper.

Tom Brady’s Suspension Lifted & T.J. Ward Gets One Game, I Don’t Understand the World

0

tom brady suspension lifted while tj ward gets one nfl 2015Thursday was not exactly the best day for the game of football.

The federal judge presiding over the Deflategate case ruled today that New England Patriots‘ Tom Brady’s 4-game suspension for cheating (again) was uncalled for and unwarranted. Then, not too long afterward, Denver Broncos safety T.J. Ward was suspended one game for an incident that most people were unaware of until today.

I’m not going to defend Ward. Throwing a bottle at a bartender isn’t normally a good idea, but he did accept full responsibility for his actions, manned up, and took the suspension. Instead, I’m just going to rag on Brady (yeah, I know, surprising).

To be perfectly honest, I’m still trying to figure out how this was legal. What Brady did would be like getting a detention at school for using your cell phone in class, and then suing the school for being unfair to you under their own rules which you signed up for.

Oh, and then the judge siding with you because you destroyed your phone and the school couldn’t physically prove that you did what you obviously did.

Yes, I said obviously. If you honestly believe that a couple of ball boys would alter footballs without Brady’s permission, then you need a brain scan. Even in some parallel universe where that is a valid argument, Brady would have noticed immediately, and not fixing the problem was more than enough to get Sean Payton suspended for an entire season during Bounty-Gate.

And the New Orleans Saints didn’t cheat…twice. I guess I just don’t understand the world anymore.

Well, no matter my opinion, the fact that Roger Goodell looks like a complete idiot once again is pretty clear, but what else is new. A few owners mentioned that his job is safe, so he lives to do something stupid another day.

Now the NFL is trying to save face by appealing the DeflateGate Tom Brady decision. Within hours of the ruling, the NFL appealed the order vacating Brady’s four-game suspension.

The league’s appeal, which will likely take months to resolve, ensures the litigation will continue to loom over the 2015 season.

“We are grateful to Judge Berman for hearing this matter, but respectfully disagree with today’s decision,” Goodell said. “We will appeal today’s ruling in order to uphold the collectively bargained responsibility to protect the integrity of the game. The commissioner’s responsibility to secure the competitive fairness of our game is a paramount principle, and the league and our 32 clubs will continue to pursue a path to that end.  While the legal phase of this process continues, we look forward to focusing on football and the opening of the regular season,” Goodell said in a statement.

So, the NFL continues making bundles of money while still losing the respect of many.

2015 US Open Second Round Tennis Report Card

0

us open report card round 2 roger federer tops 2015 tennisThe second round is now over for men’s singles at the 2015 US Open. Accordingly, it’s once again time to issue a report card based on how various players performed in the second round. Starting with the failures and moving up to who made top grade in the round of sixty-four at Flushing Meadows, once again, here’s my take on who is meeting expectations, who is exceeding them, and is falling short.

Grigor Dimitrov: F

Dimitrov was the biggest favorite to see elimination in the second round, a result that follows a lengthy patch of mediocre tennis. I alluded to the Bulgarian’s poor form a couple weeks ago in another article at this site and stated that he needed “a stellar run at the 2015 US Open in the worst way” in order to inject some momentum back into his career. Falling well short of “a stellar run” Dimitrov fell to veteran Mikhail Kukushkin on Wednesday. In doing so, Dimitrov earns the lowest grade for round two of this year’s Flushing Meadows tournament. He remains a player with much to prove on tour.

Stan Wawrinka: C-

At the moment, there’s something not quite right in the Wawrinka camp. He has won his first two matches, in fact he won them both in straight sets. However he’s been extended to several lengthy and well-contested sets against opponents that one would think the Swiss No. 2 would be blowing away if he was at the top of his game. The unquestionable conclusion in my mind is that Wawrinka is not at the top of his game.

It may very well be that the reigning French Open champion is stalling on a plateau of satisfaction after achieving such imminence. Time will tell but Wawrinka will probably NOT have to play better in the third round to advance at the 2015 US Open as he has drawn Ruben Bemelmans. However either Viktor Troicki or Donald Young may expose Wawrinka’s poor form in the fourth round if he does not sharpen his game first.

Andy Murray: C+

Murray faced a test from Adrian Mannarino in the second round, a match that required that the Scot come back from down two sets to love. While such a comeback is definitely something to feel positive about usually the top favorites in a tournament are more efficient in their opening round wins. Murray’s win keeps him alive in the 2015 US Open and that’s all that matters. Nonetheless he spent some extra energy on the courts on Thursday that may have some negative effects on his game later in the tournament.

Kevin Anderson: B+

Anderson won ATP-Winston Salem last weekend, a 250-level event played in the southern parts of the USA. It would have been easy for him to let down at the US Open however he has maintained his high level of play. In round two he hit 20 aces against just three double faults. Meanwhile the South African won 92% of the points on his first serve, an incredibly impressive statistic. Anderson is a credible threat to Murray if the two players meet in the fourth round, especially if Murray does not find his ‘A’ game.

Novak Djokovic: A

Djokovic, as the tournament’s top seed, has not faced a difficult player as of yet at Flushing Meadows 2015. However he is through rounds one and two with hardly any energy spent. The World No. 1 took out Andreas Haider-Maurer in about an hour and a half in the second round, meaning Djokovic has not even played three hours of tennis through rounds one and two. That bodes quite well for his future success at the event.

Roger Federer: A+

Federer continued to play the sharp tennis that has made him the second favorite at Flushing Meadows this season. In round two, the Swiss Maestro made quick work of Belgian veteran Steve Darcis. Accordingly, Federer’s energy levels should remain high in the upcoming third and fourth rounds. The Swiss Maestro looks more dangerous in the present Grand Slam than he has in many others in recent years.

NFL Keeping Deflategate Alive With Tom Brady Appeal

0

nfl appealling tom brady deflategate decision 2015Everyone knew that whichever way U.S. District Judge Richard Berman decision went in the Deflategate case, someone would be appealing.  The judge found in New England Patriot’s star quarterback Tom Brady’s favor (decision just below) allowing him to play in the New England Patriots’ season opener next week. Within hours of the ruling, the NFL appealed the order vacating Brady’s four-game suspension.

U.S. District Judge Richard Berman’s decision in New York was a major setback for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who had suspended Brady for his alleged role in a scheme to deflate footballs used in the Patriots’ January playoff victory.

[pdf-embedder url=”http://movietvtechgeeks.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/nfl-tom-brady-deflategate-ruling-9-2015.pdf”]

Brady, 38, had been banned until an Oct. 18 clash with the Indianapolis Colts, which would have cost him nearly $2 million in salary. He is expected to start the Patriots’ first game on Sept. 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Shortly after the decision, the Patriots posted a picture on Twitter of Brady pumping his fist in the air during a game.

“Tom Brady is a classy person of the highest integrity,” Patriots owner Robert Kraft said in a statement. “He represents everything that is great about this game and this league.”

Brady did not comment on the ruling, but his lawyer, Andrew Tulumello, said, “We are gratified by the court’s decision and look forward to Mr. Brady’s return to the playing field.”

Patriots fans, Brady’s teammates and Massachusetts politicians reacted with glee to the news. New England running back LeGarrette Blount said on Twitter, “Let’s goooo TB12!!! This is gonna be a fun season!!! 1st win of the year for #PatsNation.”

Berman said Goodell’s ruling was plagued by “several significant legal deficiencies,” including a failure to notify Brady beforehand that his alleged conduct could be punished by suspension.

“The court finds that Brady had no notice that he could receive a four-game suspension for general awareness of ball deflation by others or participation in any scheme to deflate footballs,” Berman wrote.

The judge did not evaluate the underlying allegations, including whether Brady knew of the scheme, saying it was not his role as judge to review Goodell’s factual findings. The ruling can be found at http://bit.ly/1KtOh6L.

For seven months, the controversy has dominated sports radio, made national headlines and inspired nicknames like “Deflategate” and “Ballghazi.”

Brady was suspended over the footballs used in the Patriots’ 45-7 postseason victory against the Colts that sent them to the Super Bowl, where they defeated the Seattle Seahawks 28-24.

In May, Ted Wells, a lawyer the NFL hired to investigate the incident, found it was “more probable than not” that Brady was “generally aware” two low-level Patriots employees had conspired to let air out of the footballs, which can make them easier to grip.

Wells’ 243-page report, which cost more than $2.5 million, formed the basis for Brady’s suspension.

Berman, in addition to saying that Brady was not properly on notice that he could face a ban, criticized Goodell for comparing the quarterback’s penalty to that given to steroid users.

The judge also said Brady’s lawyers were improperly barred from cross-examining the NFL’s general counsel, Jeff Pash, who helped lead the Deflategate probe, and were unfairly denied access to certain investigative notes.

The league has already fined the Patriots a record $1 million and stripped the team of two draft picks, a penalty Kraft previously said he would “reluctantly” accept rather than appeal.

Amid months of recriminations and lawsuits, the stakes had grown beyond a mere four-game suspension. For the NFL and the union, the case became a test of how broadly to interpret Goodell’s authority to discipline players under the players’ collective bargaining agreement with the league.

For Brady, the allegations threatened his legacy as one of the NFL’s all-time greats. Brady and his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, are one of the country’s most visible celebrity couples.

Brady was drafted with the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL draft and served as a backup for the Patriots before becoming the starter in his second season, leading the franchise to its first championship ever in 2002.

The quarterback is entering his 16th season and has played in six Super Bowls, winning four.

The NFL and the union had engaged in settlement talks for weeks with Berman, who urged them to find an acceptable solution. But a deal never emerged.

It is rare for a federal judge to overturn an arbitrator’s decision, in part because the legal standard is quite stringent.

“The courts say pretty much, unless something goofy going on, we’re not going to intervene,” said Alfred Yen, a Boston College Law School professor.

The ruling is the latest setback for Goodell, who has seen other punishments reduced or vacated on appeal, including in domestic abuse cases involving players Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson and Greg Hardy, as well as in the “Bountygate” case in which the New Orleans Saints were accused of paying bonuses for injuring opposing team players.

Brandon Jay McLaren Talks GRACELAND’S Intense Finale & Beyond

0

brandon jay mclaren talks graceland beyond interview 2015 imagesYou don’t have to be a fan of USA Network‘s “Graceland” or even know the name Brandon Jay McLaren, but the minute you see him, you know who he is. He’s that guy you’ve seen on at least one of your favorite tv shows who’s easily one of the busiest actors out there.

In the past decade, if you’ve seen, “Power Rangers, S.P.D.”, “She’s the Man”, “Harper’s Island”, “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil”, “The Killing”, “Falling Skies“, “Girlfriends Guide to Divorce”, then you’ll know who he is. That’s not counting every show or movie he’s appeared in either. That’s just an idea of how busy this guy is who never gets tired of auditioning for roles that keep stretching him and forcing him to grow as an actor.

We’ve been interviewing him since he was on “Falling Skies,” right before the producers brutally killed him off after he told them he was going to be taking the role of Dale Jakes on “Graceland.” It was a big risk for him since he had no idea if USA Network would really get behind the show, but he saw the character as someone he’d never really played before and felt that it was well worth the risk.

We were the first ones to give him the good news that “Graceland” had been renewed for a second season, months before it was officially announced, but USA and the producers haven’t been as forthcoming about Season 4 of the show. Thankfully, we’ve got some great sources at the network who let us know today that things are looking positive for the show. “The network realized that darker dramas are what do best so they were down to doing a ‘Sophie’s Choice’ between “Complications” and “Graceland,”” they told us. “The ratings have fallen for “Graceland,” but the network is still feeling confident in it for another season.”

While not set in stone, this comes from our same source that told us it was being renewed before Season 1 had ended. So all you “Graceland” fans can do a reasonably optimistic happy dance knowing we get to see how Jakes recovers from he and Charlie trying to infiltrate the Germaine’s business in what the actor has promised is a very very intense finale.

Getting a third interview with McLaren wasn’t as easy, as he’s been back and forth between Florida and Canada shooting two shows. Yep, he’s in yet another series, not counting his return for Season 2 of “Girlfriends Guide to Divorce”. This one’s called “Slasher,” and Brandon said that it’s more inline with “Harper’s Island” than Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story.” He’ll play a husband that may not be all he seems to be for his wife, which is another great departure as up until “Graceland” McLaren has played a lot of nice guys.

We asked our readers via Twitter some of their burning questions for Brandon Jay McLaren aka Chocolate Jesus, and here’s what he had to say.

graceland brandon jay mclaren aaron tveit inteview 2015MTTG: Have you been happy with the progression of Jakes from Season 1 up through the Season 3 finale?

BRANDON JAY McLAREN: Great question! I didn’t notice it until last year when I went back and watched the pilot. I forgot how much things had changed, and it’s great to see that the show has become so much smarter, darker and complex. Jakes wasn’t around as much in Season 1, but in Season 2 the writers really did him justice with his story. But Season 3 is where they’ve really knocked it out of the park for him. That has been the excitement of playing this character since he’s come a long way from the guy who always gets everyone out of a tough jam. You know, he’s the guy that no one listens too, but they’re real quick to call him to pick up the pieces. It’s great that this season, Jakes may go from being the fixer to needing one….badly.

Will Jakes and Paige get together or is he going to have to suffer alone forever?

McLAREN: There was actually that possibility of them getting together in Season 2, but after he dropped the ball and Paige wound up getting kidnapped into a white slavery operation, the moment seemed to have passed. I posted a picture of me kissing Serinda’s (Paige) neck on Twitter, and that set off quite a firestorm of people thinking that we were going to be hooking up this season, but Jakes will get pretty busy with Annie Ilonzeh into the finale…maybe more if we get a Season 4.

It’s already gotten pretty bad for Jakes this season so how much worse can it get for the finale?

McLAREN: It gets worse, and the entire house is fractured. These people have been through so much, and everyone has a breaking point which you’ll see in the finale.

Will you be directing any of the episodes for Season 4?

McLAREN: If we get a season 4, I would love too! I was able to shadow our director/producer Larry Teng, while he prepped the first episodes since he had shot them all together, and I wanted to get a feel of what it was like. Luckily, being part of the show this long lets me learn more behind the scenes action.

What’s your favorite show to binge watch?

McLAREN: Lately, I’ve not had much time to do that, but when things slow down, I’ll be watching “Homeland.”

What would be your dream show to guest star on?

McLAREN: Game of Thrones. I can watch that show no matter what mood I’m in, and I’d want to play a Lannister, of course.

Tom Brady Freed. NFL Embarrassed. Deflategate Is Finally Over. Ruling Included

0

tom brady free nfl deflategate 2015 imagesDeflategate is over. Tom Brady is free. The NFL looks really petty and should be embarrassed by their commissioner. Read US District Judge Richard Berman’s full ruling just below.

U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman has altered betting lines for the first four weeks of the NFL by overturning Tom Brady’s four game suspension. It’s insane that air pressure in a few footballs during a blowout AFC Title game was made into a federal case.

Judge Berman stated that Goodell’s suspension of the Patriots’ quarterback was “premised upon several significant legal deficiencies.”

“Because there was no notice of a four-game suspension in the circumstances presented here, Commissioner Goodell may be said to have dispensed his own brand of industrial justice,” Judge Berman stated.

The NFL wanted to make a big deal out of this scandal so that’s exactly what they got. Publicity was the main reason for going as far as the League did in my opinion. It worked too. Deflategate got as much media coverage as any one game all of the 2014 season. I don’t think the NFL wanted it to go quite this far though. They had to believe Brady would just accept his punishment like a good little employee.

The fact that Robert Kraft did not appeal his franchise’s separate punishment must have emboldened the League and Goodell. Brady wasn’t going to take his suspension so easily. Good thing too. It makes the League look even worse that they did not accept the one game settlement that Brady reportedly offered late in the game.

Baring an idiotic appeal by the NFL, Tom Brady will be starting for his Patriots in the opener against Pittsburgh. Even if the League appealed, I doubt any ruling would come before that game onSeptember 10.

I almost want Goodell to appeal this ruling. As relieved as I am that Deflategate is over, it would make my day to see Goodell make one last misstep in this ordeal. I would suffer through the extended Deflategate coverage in hopes that such an appeal would cause Goodell to be fired.

I have to believe the owners will make it very clear to Rog that they have seen and heard enough of this bullshit to last a lifetime. They will save him the embarrassment of an appeal if they know what’s good for their brand, which has taken a beating with this nonsense.

This ruling does a few things besides shifting the betting odds in the first four weeks. First it takes the pressure off Garoppolo to start game one.

The guy has gotten huge playing time in the preseason. Would it not be crazy if the Patriots ended up getting a nice trade offer for their backup as a result of his increased playing time?

I can also see the Patriots thinking of hanging onto Jimmy Garoppolo long term, after showing promise in the exhibition games. Either way, the kid from Eastern Illinois has made the most of Deflategate.

Maybe more importantly than the individual effects for Brady and the Pats, this ruling by a federal judge should show the rest of the players in the NFL where they need to go to get justice. Clearly Roger Goodell is not the right person to turn to for a fair hearing. Were I an NFLer, and could afford it, I would take any future grievances I have to the United States justice system.

In fact I wouldn’t put much effort into defending myself to Goodell at all. What’s the point? He is anti player, period.

I’m sure it wasn’t cheap for Brady to make this appeal in a real courtroom, but I have a feeling Mr. Kraft will chip in for his guy. The players union would be wise to set up a fund specifically for cases that need to go before a real judge. Not every player has the cash that’s available to Tom Brady.

So if this is truly the end of Deflategate we can all move on with our lives. We fans can start focusing on fantasy football cheat sheets instead of “Ideal Gas Law.”

The poor court sketch artist can make her way back to a sense of normalcy.

Tom Brady can get all the first team reps.

Ted Wells can rest easy knowing all his “hard work” was useless.

Patriot fans can start writing some clever text for their signs on September 10.

And maybe, just maybe, Roger Goodell will take a long look at himself and see the damage he has done to the NFL’s image over the past couple years. I doubt that happens, but I bet the owners are taking a closer look at the man they have hired to run their business.

They should begin the search for a replacement commissioner. This one has done enough damage and is not fit to lead.

TOTAL DIVAS 409 Recap: Clashing Divas

It was clashing and smashing on last night’s episode of Total Divas, Nikki went with Brie to have a tattoo removed that she got when she was 15 years old. Brie said her fairy tattoo had to go because she wants to be a mom soon. Nikki said she would never get rid of her tattoo and that John Cena likes it.

Brie met Bryan for dinner and he thought she was showing too much skin in the outfit she chose. Daniel Bryan said he wished Brie would wear pants and she said the shorts she was wearing covered her rear end. Brie said she wanted to show off her stomach until she gets pregnant.

Alicia and Paige went shopping for a motorcycle for Paige. Alicia pointed out that Paige still needs to get a motorcycle license to be able to legally operate one. TJ, Natalya and her mom and sister went shopping for furniture for Natalya’s new house. Natalya said TJ was unhappy that Natalya’s sister, Jenny, is living in their new house with them.

Backstage at RAW, Paige was asked to help train Cameron because she wants more TV time on WWE programming. Paige said she felt like the WWE was testing her by asking her to train Cameron. She said she was happy to get to train with Paige and that she didn’t have much time in developmental.

Brie and Nikki went shopping together and Brie told Nikki Daniel Bryan thought her outfit was too skimpy. Nikki told Brie that she should be confident enough to wear what she wants.

Natalya said she needed to come up with a plan to get Jenny out of the house and get her to mingle with other people. She asked Mark, a behind the scenes WWE employee, if he had any interest in her sister, who he met at Wrestlemania. Natalya said her sister is royalty and she could only date the cream of the crop. Natalya said she didn’t know what type of man her sister likes, but she was going to find her someone. Natalya invited Big E, a WWE wrestler, to her house to meet her sister.

Alicia, Paige and Rosa Mendes went for motorcycle training. Paige drove her motorcycle at such a high speed that she wiped out. Paige said she felt a cold sweat when she wiped out and it reminded her of when she crashed her car.

Backstage at a RAW event Paige got in trouble for crashing the motorcycle. She was told as a WWE diva she had to be smarter. Natalya took her sister to a restaurant to meet Big E. Jenny, Big E, Natalya and TJ had a double date. Jenny invited Big E to Natalya and TJs house that night to get in their hot tub.

Natalya had to make TJ promise he would be nice to Big E when he comes to their house. TJ said he would only be nice if Big E gets Jenny out of their house.

At the performance center Paige trained Cameron to wrestle. Paige said she was getting angry because Cameron was such a bad wrestler she could hurt Paige enough to prevent her from working.

Natalya gave Big E a tour of her house. She said she had hoped Jenny and Big E would go back to his house rather than hers. Daniel Bryan had a toilet delivered to his and Brie’s house that would allow them to use their waste as compost.

Jenny told TJ they should get John Cena’s interior designer to work on their house. TJ and Jenny argued and Jenny called TJ out on never proposing marriage to Natalya.

Paige got in trouble for upsetting Cameron when she was training her and Paige was told there would be serious consequences. Alicia told Paige they should get an ice cream truck for the summer.

Natalya said asking her sister to move in was backfiring on her and Natalya didn’t know what to do. Jenny then told Natalya she was going to go live with their parents instead of her and TJ.

Brie’s brother and sister in law came over her house for dinner and Daniel Bryan explained the compost toilet to them. Brie asked Daniel Bryan if he turned the water to their toilet off and he said he did. Daniel told Brie when she starts dressing modestly he’ll get rid of the compost toilet. Daniel Bryan said he would turn the water back on but it would take a few days.

Backstage at a show, Paige found out she’d been pulled from the show. She thought it was because she fought with Cameron but a WWE official denied it. The official told Paige if she confronts him again she won’t like the consequences. Paige was told to get her head out of her ass and that upset her.

Nikki, Natalya and Paige met for drinks and Paige told them what happened between her and Cameron. Paige said she felt like Nikki and Natalya were siding with the WWE. Paige got up and stormed off. Nikki went after Paige and told her she didn’t understand what Nikki and Natalya were trying to say. Nikki said she wanted to lead Paige in the right direction. Paige said she has no filter and she had to learn to change that. Natalya said Paige had to be able to outsmart any opponent. Paige said they were being good friends but she didn’t like having to admit she was wrong.

Brie let Daniel Bryan go through her closet and get rid of clothes he didn’t want her to wear. She said that he got rid of a lot of her clothes so she’d have to go on a shopping spree and buy more.

Donald Trump vs Kanye West & Avril Lavigne Moves On From Chad Kroeger

avril lavigne splits with nickelback chad kroeger 2015 gossipJust because summer is coming to a close doesn’t mean the “Summer of Splits” necessarily has to. Yet another Hollywood couple has announced their divorce, this time being singer Avril Lavigne and Nickelback front man Chad Kroeger.

The couple has been married for 2 years, but announced on Wednesday that they have decided to end things, with Avril sharing a post on Instagram. Alongside a picture from their wedding day, Avril shares a caption reading:

“It is with a heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today. Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we’ve created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.”

Avril Lavigne, Instagram post:

The two stars wed in July of 2013, after just 6 months of dating. Since the ceremony, the couple was constantly facing rumors of separation, however continued to deny them throughout their short-lived relationship.

Last November, Chad talked about the rumors to ET Canada saying, “You know my dad calls me up and he’s just like, ‘I haven’t slept in two days, what’s going on?’ I’m like, ‘Dad you’re not buying all this crap are you?” Going on to say, “You know, I get to hear all the rumor mill stuff. So it’s, it’s…I find it very amusing.”

A source has told E! News that the couple had been “fighting a lot” and that there was “jealousy on both sides.” In addition, both Avril and Chad have been facing their fair share of health struggles. Avril revealed in April that she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease and had been “bedridden for five months.” Similarly, Chad also was having issues with his health and was forced to cancel the remaining dates of his band’s 2015 No Fixed Address Tour, as he needed to rest his vocal chords.

donald trump vs kanye west for president 2015 gossipDonald Trump isn’t the only celebrity to jump on the presidential bandwagon. Rapper Kanye West told the audience at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards that he plans to run for president in 2020.

Naturally, people were wondering what Donald had to say about Kanye’s announcement. Therefore when Donald sat down with the Rolling Stone on Tuesday, they asked him what he thought about “Yeezus,” in which Donald replied, “He’s said very nice things about me in the past…extremely positive things.”

He continues on to say, “I was actually watching, I saw him [announce his candidacy on the VMAs], and I said, “That’s very interesting. I wonder who gave him that idea?’”

However Donald did confess to being confused by the comparisons that have been drawn between him and the rapper.

Check out this Kanye vs. Donald mash-up clip from Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Donald Trump’s opinion on Kanye has definitely changed over the years, as he previously called for a boycott of Kanye following his storming of the VMA stage in 2009 when Taylor Swift was awarded with ‘Video of the Year.’

The interview concluded with Donald claiming that Kanye is a “different kind of person than people think. He’s a nice guy” and stating that he hopes “to run against him someday.”

No doubt, a Kanye vs. Donald Trump debate would be one to watch.
