Atlanta Falcons In-Depth Week 4 Preseason Recap

0

atlanta falcons in depth recap week 4 vs ravens preseason 2015 images nflComprehensive Weekly Atlanta Falcons Recap:

Atlanta Falcons 20     Baltimore Ravens 19

Game Summary:

Well the preseason is over. I got all hyped up as the Atlanta Falcons’ season started and that excitement carried me all the way until about week three. That’s when the fresh smell of exhibition football started to resemble a pair of sneakers left in a gym locker all winter long.

Atlanta got a win over Baltimore in their final exhibition game and now try to get ready for their first real test of 2015. That will come a week after Labor Day against the Eagles on Monday Night Football.

The Ravens contest was basically a final audition for second and third stringers. It did however end up being a close game at the end. The Ravens got two late TD passes from Sean Renfree, both with under two minutes to play. Atlanta gave up a blocked punt to make things easier for Flacco’s backup.

Atlanta made progress in the run game, a sore subject most of the preseason. They had some young guys exploit the Ravens defense, which certainly was not the one that will start out on opening day for them however.

Game four is simply a cash grab by the NFL, and a last ditch effort by guys on the edge to make a good impression and hope to make that final roster cut.

Game Highlights:

Atlanta Falcons vs Baltimore Ravens NFL Highlights

Justin Hardy 70 Yard Punt Return

3 Things to Build On:

  • Sean Renfree is going to be Matt Ryan’s back up in 2015. T.J. Yates has been cut along with Rex Grossman. Renfree was a bit sharper in these four preseason games and Yates has had plenty of time to cement his spot with Atlanta over the past couple years. New staff though, so he just didn’t do enough to hang on as QB2.
  • Atlanta has a lot of potential at receiver. They can’t hang onto every one of them of course. So it will be interesting to see which of the young guys find roster spots elsewhere and who Atlanta is able to hang onto, if only for the practice squad.
  • The running game looked better in this game, but it doesn’t mean a whole lot as there were so many backups thrown in the mix for both teams. Tevin Coleman and Terron Ward had good games at running back. Both were around the 60 yard mark.

Lowlight of Game: Post game carnage was a punch in the gut for many Falcons fans. One of the most dynamic guys on offense last year, Antone Smith did not make the final roster. This guy had so many long scoring plays last year (when healthy), that it’s hard to imagine the team not finding a way to use him going forward. But Dan Quinn and company see these players on a daily basis. There has to be a reason he won’t fit. Hopefully the guy can find another gig NFL soon.

Bonehead Play of The Game:  Having a punt blocked deep in your own territory is embarrassing, even in the final preseason game. The Falcons let the Ravens get that key special teams play, then watched Baltimore turn it into a touchdown to make the game a one point affair. No team wants to play in overtime before the games count, so Baltimore tried and failed on the two point conversion.

Julio Jones Watch: All we did was watch Julio rest in this one. Once the regular season starts in eight days, the beast will be released upon the rest of the NFL. I am looking for Jones to lead the League in receiving yards this year. Called my shot, and he may go top two in my fantasy draft. Homer picks usually come back to bite me in fantasy play though, so use extreme caution following my draft advice.

Tweets of the Game:

Irony indeed. We have to move on city of Atlanta! Yes I still have a Vick jersey somewhere in my home, just can’t find it.

I will find another home team if this ever happens. Enough with Tebow.

Jake Long??

Dan Quinn writes novelty greeting cards in his spare time? What? I’ll have to check out Etsy to see if I can find Quinn there selling weird birthday cards for $5. I thought NFL coaches had no spare time? This is actually pretty cool. I figured NFL head coaches just tortured tiny animals to relieve stress in their down time.

National League Week 21 Winners & Losers

national league winners losers juan lagares mlb 2015 imagesThe hunt for October is heating up as the National League prepares for the last few weeks of play. As the calendar flips over to September the top three teams are some of the biggest winners in the National League. This includes the New York Mets who continue to hold on to the top spot in the National League East.

There latest stretch run winning seven of there past ten games has helped the team build a six and half game lead over the second place Washington Nationals. While the Mets land on our Winners list the other two clubs that earn a spot is the St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Each of these clubs have won eight of there last ten games fighting off the second place team in each division. The Cardinals currently have the best record not only in the National League but in all of baseball. The team is also the only team in all of baseball that has not hit the 50 loss mark on the season.

Meanwhile the Dodgers have used there hot pitching from the likes of Clayton Kershaw and Zach Greinke to build a six and half game lead over the San Francisco Giants. This comes after the Giants were within a game of first place in the National League West.

Since that point the Dodgers have won eight of ten while the Giants have picked up just four wins over there past ten games. While the Mets, Dodgers and Cardinals land on our National League Winner List here is our complete list of winners and losers from around the league.

National League Winners:

Jake Arrieta, Chicago Cubs: Once thought to be a big bust in Baltimore, Arrieta continues to develop into one of the National Leagues top starters. This comes after firing the Cubs tenth career no hitter in his last outing against those red hot Dodgers. Along with the no hitter, Arrieta has been brilliant over his last three starters allowing zero earned runs over 21 innings of work while striking out 27 hitters along the way.

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers: The pitching has dominated the headlines in the National League and it has shown up on our National League Winners list. This includes the Dodgers ace after allowing just four runs over his last four outings while lowering his season earned run average to just 2.18 on the season. Looking back at his last ten games, Kershaw has pitched at least eight innings in eight of those starts including three complete games.

Joey Votto, Cincinnati Reds: While the Reds have been a big disappointment all season the teams’ first baseman has put together a solid season batting .316 with 27 home runs and 70 runs batted in. His latest stretch includes going 11 for 22 with three home runs and eight runs batted in. Since the calendar has rolled over to September, Votto has four hits in eight at bats including two home runs and five runs batted in.

Ryan Zimmerman, Washington Nationals: The Nationals infielder is doing everything in his power to help this club get to the post season. This includes being on of hottest hitters in all of baseball over his last seven games. In that stretch, Zimmerman is hitting .414 with 12 hits including six home runs and 12 runs batted in.

National League Losers:

National League West: Typically we put a club or player on our losers list but this week the National League West finds a spot. Outside of the Dodgers the next three teams that were all in position to fight for not only the division but a wild card spot have played terrible. The San Francisco Giants, Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres have combined to go just 9-21 while losing ground in both the division and wild card standings.

Juan Lagares, New York Mets: We hate to throw anyone on the list from the New York Mets after the season they have been having. That being said the Mets outfielder has struggled picking up just one hit over his last 12 at bats while hitting just .83 over that stretch.

Matt Garza, Milwaukee Brewers: Outside of maybe Ryan Braun the Brewers have struggled the entire season. This includes the team’s veteran starter Garza who has struggled for most of the season. Over his last three outings, Garza has pitched just 13.1 innings allowing 19 earned runs along the way. On the season, Garza is 6-14 with a 5.56 earned run average.

Todd Frazier, Cincinnati Reds: For us we are asking ourselves did the home run derby play an affect on Fraziers second half of the season? Now that being said Frazier is hitting .262 with 30 home runs and 77 runs batted in. The downside is most of those numbers came in the first half of the 2015 MLB Season. Over his last seven games, Frazier has just six hits in 29 at bats while seeing his average fall to .262 in that stretch.

Atlanta Braves: Since the Braves have played themselves out of the playoff window the team can focus on next season. Over there last ten games this team has been one of the worst teams in all of baseball winning just one of those ten games. In that stretch the team has lost eight straight while falling to fourth place in the division. Only good news is the team’s recent stretch of play is moving them up the draft board for next summers MLB draft.

Tim Tebow Dropped From Philadelphia Eagles In Surprise Chip Kelly Move

0

tim tebow dropped from eagles nfl 2015Chip Kelly definitely knows how to keep Philadelphia Eagles fans on their toes, and after he traded Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, it seemed that Tim Tebow was secure on the team even as third-string quarterback. Tebow also had his best preseason performance against the New York Jets on Thursday, so it made perfect sense to make the assumption.

Saturday proved to not be the case when it was announced that Tebow was cut along with 21 other players before the NFL’s roster deadline his the 4 PM hour.

“We felt Tim has progressed, but we didn’t feel he was good enough to be the (No.) 3 right now,” Kelly said.

The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner was trying to return to the NFL after missing two seasons.

The Eagles currently have only two quarterbacks on the roster: Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez. Bradford looked sharp in limited preseason action, but he had surgery to repair a torn left ACL twice since he last played in a regular-season game in October 2013.

“He really improved his throwing motion from when he was throwing a couple of years ago,” Kelly said. “He worked extremely hard on it and deserves a lot of credit for that. I talked to him a little earlier (Saturday) when we released him.

“He just needs to get more playing time. Get out there and get actual reps. Because he has done a ton on his own from an individual basis, but it is about taking that next step and playing (in) the game.”

It’s possible Tebow returns to the Eagles if either Bradford or Sanchez get hurt. He also can come back after the season opener and his contract won’t be guaranteed.

For now, the Eagles are going forward without him.

“We are not done,” Kelly said. “There could be a third quarterback. We’ll see what happens with the waiver wire. Whether we add a quarterback to the active roster or the practice squad, we’ll see.”

Tebow was 11 for 17 for 189 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Jets. He showed his accuracy has improved since his first stint in the NFL. Tebow finished the preseason 21 of 36 for 286 yards, two TDs and one interception. He also ran for 82 yards and one TD.

Tebow last played in a regular-season game with the Jets in 2012. He was cut by New England in training camp in 2013. He worked as a college football analyst on the SEC Network last year, but got another chance to play in the NFL when the Eagles signed him in the offseason.

Tebow led Florida to the national championship his junior season and was a first-round pick by Denver in 2010. He started 16 games during two seasons with the Broncos, including a playoff victory over Pittsburgh in January 2012. Tebow was traded to the Jets after Denver signed Peyton Manning.

In addition to Tebow, among those also released were 2014 draft picks cornerback Jaylen Watkins (fourth round) and safety Ed Reynolds (fifth round) and 2015 draft picks cornerback Randall Evans (sixth round) and Brian Mihalik (seventh round).

Also released were wide receivers Rasheed Bailey, Jeff Maehl, Freddie Martino and Quron Pratt, veteran offensive linemen John Moffitt and Julian Vandervelde, rookie offensive linemen Brett Boyko and Malcolm Bunche; running back Raheem Mostert and tight ends Eric Tomlinson and Andrew Geichert.

On the defensive side, the Eagles released linebackers Najee Goode, Diaheem Watkins and Deontae Skinner, veteran safety Chris Prosinski, and defensive lineman Travis Raciti. Punter/kicker Kip Smith was also released.

As of Saturday, the Eagles’ roster limit was at 52, one under the league limit.

Tebow had this message for the team and Kelly later Saturday.

American League Week 21 Winners & Losers

american league week 21 winners losers chris davis 2015 mlbThe calendar has rolled over to September as teams around Major League Baseball look to put the final stamp on a trip to the post season. Along with the teams we have also seen a large group of players get hot around the American League to help position their respective teams to fight for a chance to play baseball in October.

For now we will start with two of the hotter teams around the American League both pushing for playoff spots. The first team is the Minnesota Twins who just a few weeks back held on to one of the two wild card spots. That all changed in a blink of an eye, as the team went on a rough stretch finding the losses piling up in the MLB standings.

Fast forward to this week and the Twins have won eight of there past ten games to push their record to 69-63 for the season. This stretch of hot baseball has pushed the team into third place in the wild card standings and just a game back of the second wild card spot that is currently held by the Texas Rangers.

The second team that has been red hot over the past month is the Toronto Blue Jays who still currently hold the top spot in the American League West. The Blue Jays sit just a game and half over the New York Yankees. Currently the Blue Jays are 76-57 after there recent stretch including winning eight of there past ten games. Unfortunately for the team they could not build a big separation in the division as the Yankees have played good ball as well.

Each of those teams land on our weekly American League Winners List. Here is the rest of the Winners and Losers from around the American League as we get play underway in September.

American League Winners:

New York Yankees: Despite finding themselves in second place in the American League East the team has been one of there hotter teams in all of baseball. This includes a current stretch of going 6-4 to help stay within just one and half back of the first place Blue Jays. The team also currently sits in the first wild card position in the American League with just a few weeks remaining of the 2015 MLB Season.

Chris Davis, Baltimore Orioles: The team is struggling but the teams first baseman broke out of a slump on Wednesday against the Rays. Davis who continues to pick up big hits for the club launched his 37th and 38th home runs of the season in the teams win. The second of those home runs came in the bottom of the 11th inning crushing a ball to right center field to pick up another walk off home run during the 2015 MLB season.

Edwin Encarnacion, Toronto Blue Jays: The Blue Jays first baseman might be one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball of late. Over his last seven games, Encarnacion is hitting .391 with four home runs and 13 runs batted in. That includes going hitless in the team’s last game against the Cleveland Indians. If you look back at his last ten games, Encarnacion has seven home runs in five games with the Blue Jays picking up wins in all five games.

Yordano Ventura, Kansas City Royals: Just a few weeks back it seemed that the Royals had sent Ventura to the minors. Now the has been lights out of late allowing just four earned runs over his last five games. In that stretch, Ventura has worked a total 32 innings while lowering his earned run average from 5.29 to 4.24 picking up four wins along the way.

American League Losers:

Baltimore Orioles: While the American League East has been featured with two teams on our winners list, the Orioles find themselves on the losers list once again. This team was predicted by experts to win the division and that won’t be the case with just a few weeks remaining. It is hard to imagine with the way this ball club is playing they will reach the five hundred mark after winning just two of there last ten games. Along with the rough stretch of play the fans are aware of the list of impending free agents that include All-Star first baseman Chris Davis, catcher Matt Wieters and Wei-Yin Chen to name just a few.

Victor Martinez, Detroit Tigers: It has been a rough stretch for not only the Tigers catcher but the entire Tigers franchise. A team that has consistently made the playoffs over the past few seasons on route to not making the playoffs. That being said some of there struggles has come with inconsistent play from nearly everyone on the club outside of Miguel Cabrera. That includes Martinez who has picked up just two hits over his last 21 at bats while picking up zero extra base hits or runs batted in.

Miguel Gonzalez, Baltimore Orioles: Typically when you see a team struggling you will find a bunch of players that are having a tough time putting it together on the field. That is the case with the Orioles with a lot of the struggles coming from consistent starting pitching. One of those starters is Gonzalez who has picked up three straight losses while allowing 14 earned runs over just 14.2 innings of work.

Jeff Samardzija, Chicago White Sox: The White Sox starter is in his final year of his contract in what many experts believed would be a showcase to land a bigger deal. That hasn’t been the case this season including of late as he lost his last six outings falling to 8-11 on the season. Over his last two outings, the White Sox Starter has allowed ten earned runs over just 11.1 innings of baseball.

CATFISH 413 Prophet & Trinity Feels Like PR Stunt

catfish 413 recap prophet trinity 2015 imagesIf I told you that this episode of Catfish involved a celebrity, you would probably assume was about an imposter using a star’s identity to catfish someone. However, Season 4 Episode 13 “Prophet and Trinity,” actually involves a Grammy-nominated artist being catfished by a regular girl.

Nev and Max are introduced to Prophet, who was part of the award-winning group Nappy Roots. Prophet is just starting to use social media to get better connected to his fans since leaving the music group, but dived into it when he began talking online to a girl named Trinity.

Although they both live in close vicinity of each other in Kentucky, they have never met and have only interacted over message or on the phone. However, Prophet didn’t let this stop him from falling for Trinity, as he felt she was a completely “genuine” person.

Even if he is new to social media, Prophet was aware that he could be getting catfished. Therefore, he had asked Trinity in the past to snap pictures facing a certain way so that she could prove that it was really her behind the computer. So far, she has been able to follow his directions and prove herself to seeming be who she says she is.

Nev and Max head down to Kentucky and meet Prophet, who is working in the recording studio. The rapper reveals to the crew that Trinity had told him that she was a model.

Knowing this, the guys are able to reverse image search her and soon find out that the girl in the photo is Jasmine Sanders. Jasmine is in fact a well-known model that previously dated Chris Brown, but there is no sign of “Trinity” from the images. Nev and Max end up video-chatting with Jasmine, who has no idea that someone had been using her pictures in this way, although she admits that a lot of people do use her pictures, especially fan accounts (as she is a full-time model).

Nev and Max also got the phone number that Trinity had given to prophet and through searching it, they uncover that the number is linked to a girl named Crystal.

After a day of snooping, Nev and Max head back over to Prophet’s house and reveal all they have found. Prophet is disappointed as he quickly realizes that this beautiful model he thought he was talking to has no connection to the person he has really become close with.

Nev then takes the initiative and calls the phone number linked to Crystal. He winds up leaving a message, but the next day they receive a message from her saying she is willing to talk. Eventually, Nev reaches her over the phone and confronts her about stealing Jasmine’s pictures. Right away, Crystal is notably embarrassed and starts stumbling, as she looks for an explanation.

Nev ends up getting Crystal to agree to meet up with him, Max and Prophet since she lives close.

As the Prophet and the Catfish crew wait at a nearby park for Crystal, they speculate as every stranger passes by that could potentially be her. Of course, the one girl that Prophet says there is absolutely no way it could be her, turns out to be Crystal.

The pictures she had been representing herself as online show a young, African-American model, while Crystal reveals herself to be a notably older, curvier, Caucasian woman. It’s safe to say Prophet is shocked and embarrassed, as he remarks that you really “can be anyone you want over the Internet.”

Sorry Prophet, even Grammy-nominated musicians aren’t immune to the deceitfulness that fills the Internet.

Confused, Prophet asks Crystal how she was able to send pictures facing certain directions, seemingly proving that it was really she. Crystal tells him that she had numerous photos of Jasmine and it just so happened she had one that matched his directions each time.

She goes on to reveal that she made the Trinity account to creep on her boyfriend’s profile, as she felt she was being blocked from certain people commenting on his page. From there, she just continued to use the page and ended up feeling as though she was helping Prophet when pretending to be Trinity.

For all you Catfish out there: There is no situation where you pretending to be a totally different person and duping someone is helpful in the bigger picture.

By the end of the episode Prophet comes to terms that Crystal is not the model he had been fantasizing about, however, she did help him through some tough times. He acknowledges this but lets her know that their relationship will never be the same.

This episode of Catfish presented a new twist to the typical celebrity catfish scenario, however, most of the other aspects fell under the general elements we see on the show (i.e. stolen pictures, no video-chatting, lives close but never meets).

From this episode, I think there is one valuable lesson…it is not that hard to do a reverse photo check. By reverse searching the images on “Trinity,” within seconds Nev and Max were able to determine she was model Jasmine Saunders. Therefore, whenever in doubt, throw an image into Google’s reverse image search and see what comes up!

Better safe, then sorry and maybe you won’t end up having to get Nev and Max to do it on national TV.

EDITOR’S NOTE:

This season feels like MTV is trying to shake up the Catfish ratings, and sadly this episode just felt like a pure PR stunt as Prophet let it be known that coincidentally he had an album about to drop. The non-profit that Crystal was helping him with was a GoFundMe account, but his comment about police brutality didn’t have that much effect as it’s only raised about $95 since he appeared on Catfish. I would like to be wrong, but there’s been too many episodes where it just feels forced for ratings.

about catfish: the tv show

From the producers of the acclaimed documentary film, “Catfish,” comes a new MTV series that brings together couples who’ve interacted solely through their LCD screens. Over the course of months or years – these romantics have become smitten – but what will happen when they meet in real life for the first time?

In each episode, with the guidance and help of the star of the “Catfish” movie, Nev Schulman, and his filmmaking pal, Max Joseph, a hopeful romantic partner will go on an emotional journey to discover the truth about their significant other. Has that object of affection been telling the truth? Will true love truly blossom? When that fateful knock on the front door finally comes – only one thing is certain – that these incredible voyages will be filled with mystery, uncertainty, forgiveness, joy, and sometimes, even shocking revelations.

SENSE8 110 What Is Human & Some Intense Birthing

sense 8 110 what is human recap bloody birth nose 2015As we head towards the finale of Sense8, episode ten “What is Human?” begins unraveling the outcomes that are to come from each individuals’ challenges and choices they face.

Sun’s lawyer comes to the prison to inform her that her father has come clean about Sun’s innocence in the embezzlement scandal. The lawyer tells Sun that her father has done everything and more that needed to be done for Sun’s freedom and that she should be able to leave the prison in a few days.

Meanwhile, Wolfgang is in the hospital with Felix, when he gets a visit from Steiner.  Steiner right away establishes his enemy status with Wolfgang and Felix. Steiner and his gang threaten Wolfgang and his friend if they do not comply and hand over the stolen diamonds to them.

In order to keep Felix safe, Wolfgang returns to his home and collects the Diamonds so he can get them to Steiner. He goes on to meet Steiner and his crew at an abandoned loading dock. After being checked for weapons and wires, Wolfgang hands over the bag of diamonds.

Unfortunately, it turns out the diamonds are not enough and Wolfgang begins getting beaten by Steiner. However, it is shown that Wolfgang thought ahead and strapped a gun to the bottom of his car.

As Wolfgang tries to make his way to the gun under his car, he is “visited” by Lito who tries to help him find a way to the gun before Steiner beats him to death. Lito takes over Wolfgang’s perspective and begins using his acting abilities to lie to Steiner to try and distract him enough to move towards his car and the gun.

This works perfectly, as Lito is able to position Wolfgang in reach of his gun. Wolfgang then grabs it and starts opening fire. He is able to kill most of Steiner’s men, but Steiner and a couple begin driving away. This is when Wolfgang opens the trunk of his car to reveal a rocket launcher. Needless to say, this was the end of Steiner and his remaining crew.

Lito’s role in Wolfgang’s fight triggers him to stop dwelling and do something to change his situation. Lito decides to go after Daniela and right his wrongs. He now feels confident in his abilities and feels he will be able to save her from her abusive fiancé, Joaquin. He can become the hero that Daniela needs.

Soon after, Lito is shown pulling up to Joaquin’s house. With a slow-motion entrance, the scene parallels that of Lito’s action movies. Unfortunately, Lito cannot act his way into becoming a fighter and is the underdog as a fight breaks out against Joaquin. Just as he is knocked to the ground, a return “visit” from Wolfgang occurs. Wolfgang, an experienced fighter, decides it is his turn to take over. Moments later, Joaquin is knocked unconscious by Wolfgang and Lito is able to take Daniela to safety.

Finally, Lito is able to track down Hernando. He explains to Hernando his change of heart and owns up for his cowardly actions in the previous episode. Hernando then sees Daniela behind him and realizes that Lito saved her from Joaquin. Lito goes on to tell Hernando that he no longer cares if the explicit pictures of them get out, what he really cares about is his love for Hernando.

The episode concludes with a scene that centers on the sensates’ births. As Riley listens to her father’s music at a concert hall, she begins having flashbacks of her own birth. Then, we see Wolfgang’s mother during a water birth, Nomi’s mom during a C-section, Kala’s mother outdoor birth, etc. The scene shows how even though the sensate’s came from diverse beginnings, they somehow all ended up connected together.

The episode ends abruptly just as Riley imagines the birth of her own child. We are shown an image of her holding her baby and then suddenly it cuts to her crashing her car into the mountains, which is assumedly how her husband and child died. Blood streams down her face as she sits imagining this in the concert hall and she faints right in the aisle.

This episode mainly focused on Lito’s storyline and his decision to be who he truly is. It seems his connection with Nomi in the previous episode and then his “visit” with Wolfgang in this episode, gave Lito the strength to stop pretending and embrace himself. Although it is nice to see Lito’s storyline tied up, it leads me to believe this may be the direction the finale will take. Tying up the individual stories, without seriously addressing the connecting plot.

There was no big continuation of the underlying storyline, which means Sense8 will have a lot of ground to cover in the next two episodes if it is going to do anything with the main sensate plot.

Khloe Kardashian Waist Craze & Jessica Alba’s Honest Lawsuit

khloe kardashian waist trainer 2015 gossipWaist trainers are the newest celebrity trend that has caused their fair share of controversy. However, despite the ample amount of criticism the waist-trimming device has gotten, the Kardashians continue to be its biggest fan, customer and advertiser.

Earlier this week, Khloe Kardashian posted a picture of her wearing her waist trainer on her Instagram with the caption reading, “I’m obsessed with the gym but a little extra help never hurt nobody @waistgangsociety and @premadonna87 keep my waist snatched and posture perfect. Once you try it, you will become obsessed!!!! Head over to whatsawaist.com the ONLY place to get your waist trainer!!!!”

Khloe’s picture got plenty of backlash, as the star’s waist looked abnormally small in the shot. In addition, many were criticizing how Khloe is advertising the waist trainer, despite being public about her commitment to living a health lifestyle. (Note: researchers have found that waist trainers can be damaging to your internal bones and organs).

Khloe Kardashian, Instagram post:

Nonetheless, early Saturday sister Kourtney Kardashian joined in on the fun and posted a picture of herself in a trainer. In addition to the picture Kourtney wrote a caption reading, “I am pretty much the queen of multitasking. Obsessed with anything where I am doing more than one thing at a time, especially since I skipped the gym today. A little Saturday morning waist cinching and working on my posture while cleaning out my closet…”

Kourtney Kardashian, Instagram post:

In addition, sister Kim has been vocal about using a waist trainer as well.

When asked about the newest trend in Hollywood, Doctor Pouya Shafipour of Wellesley Medical in L.A. said that the device is more about making women feel confident, and therefore want to eat right and work out more, rather than being a weight loss technique in itself. In addition he warned about the side effects that could potentially arise from waist training saying, “I’m worried about what effect it has on the lower intestines with pushing the contents into the pelvic reason. That is a concern, in addition to compressing the diaphragm, which causes pulmonary problems. Basically there is potential for internal organ compression causing kidney, gastrointestinal and lung issues.”

jessica alba honest company lawsuit 2015 gossipJessica Alba is on the defense after a $5-million lawsuit was filed against her empire, The Honest Company. Those involved in the lawsuit claim many of the products made by the company have been “deceptively and misleadingly labeled and marketed.” Going on to say that many of the “natural” products are filled with “unnatural” ingredients.

Since the details of the lawsuit became public, Jessica has come out to defend her company saying that her daughters are “growing up in a safer home” because of the products that The Honest Company provides.

The 34-year-old actress went on to explain:

“Seven years ago, when I was pregnant with my first daughter, I was frustrated by the lack of healthy and safe product options for me and my new family. I started The Honest Company to develop safe and effective products not just for my children, but also for families everywhere. I am very proud that we have built this company into an industry leader focused on using natural ingredients and developing products that people love.”

Despite the criticism, Jessica maintains that the allegations of mislabeling are “baseless and without merit.”

Montee Ball, Darnell Dockett Among Notables from Final Day of Roster Cuts

0

montee ball darnell docket roster cuts 2015 nflWith preseason over, all 32 teams need to be down to 53 players. It’s not an easy time to be a 3rd-string player, a late-round draft pick, or an aging veteran.

The cuts have already started pouring in, and big names were not safe. Among the known names who found themselves unemployed are New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Da’Quan Bowers, and San Francisco 49ers d-lineman Darnell Dockett.

Dockett was probably the biggest shock. After never missing a game for the first 10 seasons of his career and earning three Pro Bowl selections with the Arizona Cardinals, Dockett just hasn’t been the same (apparently) since missing last season with a knee injury.

Dockett was given a chance with the 49ers, but he just couldn’t make the roster. He must be in a pretty tough position if he couldn’t crack the top 53 out there, especially given all the defensive bleeding they suffered through this offseason.

There is also a notable name missing from that list, and that is Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball. There’s been rumors swirling that the 2nd round pick from 2013 wouldn’t make the team after losing basically all of his play time to C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman.

“We still think that Montee can continue to improve…He was in the top 53 in our mind,” said John Elway.

Not sure what he’s shown to give Elway or anyone else that idea. Ball has been nothing but a liablity since the day he stepped on the field in Mile High Stadium. For every solid run of his, he has 15 fumbles to match.

I exaggerate for effect, of course, but Ball does fumble…a lot.

Personally, I think Elway was just lying through his teeth. Ball has been drawing some interest (Lord Knows why) from other teams, including the Dallas Cowboys. Keeping Ball on the roster and trading him away is like getting something, even if it’s just a mid-to-late-round draft pick for a player they would have cut anyways.

For the Broncos sake, let’s just hope they’re able to trade him.

A curious case with David de Gea’s transfer saga

0

curious case david de gea soccer 2015Despite the three month speculations linking him to Real Madrid, the Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea is still a Manchester United player. De Gea is currently with the national team on international duty and is expected to return to Old Trafford for the game against Liverpool.

It is no news that the former Atletico Madrid player wants to return to Spain’s capital after four years in England and his family and girlfriend are being cited as the reason. De Gea arrived at Manchester United as a skinny, raw talent but in a year’s time he showed everyone why Sir Alex brought him to Manchester in the first place. The 24-year-old went on to become the best player at the club for two years in a row. Despite being homesick, David de Gea has been completely professional in his approach to move out of the club. The United’s number 1 has spoken ill about the club or the manager and has always treated them with nothing but respect.

Last month Louis van Gaal dropped one of the best goalkeepers in the world and played Sergio Romero in goal until De Gea’s future at the club gets resolved. It is now believed that David will resume his place in the starting line-up as he can’t afford to sit out for the whole season with the European championship arriving next year. It is also rumored that the player will sign a new contract at the club after his move to Santiago Bernabeu failed at the very last minute.

Both Manchester United and Real Madrid are pointing fingers at each other as De Gea’s proposed move failed because of the delay that occured at either end. According to Real Madrid, Manchester United were late to send the keeper’s documents to the Spanish FA but the Red Devils insist that the documents were sent before the end of deadline and there was fault at Madrid’s end.

Two of the biggest soccer clubs in the world took the matters public and the war of words began with each criticizing the other. Both the clubs explained their sides of the story and claimed to have the backing of English FA (Man United) and FIFA (Real Madrid).

United ended the statement on their club website with some very strong words: “Manchester United acts appropriately and efficiently in its transfer dealings. The club is delighted that its fan-favourite double Player of the Year, David de Gea, remains a Manchester United player.”

The Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez, blatantly pointed finger at Ed Woodward and the new hierarchy at United. Such foolish words from the head of such a big and respectable organization such as Real Madrid are totally out of proportion.

Perez said,  “If somebody comes to buy one of our players and we say that he’s not for sale, it’s because he’s not for sale. And that’s what they kept telling us until August 31st. We could’ve said that we were not interested anymore, but we thought we had the obligation to try, even knowing how difficult it was going to be. I don’t think they had bad intentions. What they’re lacking is experience. This exact same thing happened to us last year with Coentrao, and to Athletic with Ander Herrera.”

The matter has been blown out of proportion by both the clubs and it was really uncalled for from Perez as it can damage the relationship between the clubs and any future transfer dealings between the clubs can get affected.

Denzel Washington’s Son Outed & Kenya Moore On RHOA Latest Fight

The end of the wek round up is here and it is full of updates and, of course, juicy gossip. The anti-gay clerk Kim Davis is in jail, Wendy Williams has words for Nicki Minaj, Denzel Washington’s son is outed and RHOA Kenya Moore sides with Cynthia Bailey.

kim david jailed gay marriage 2015 gossipKentucky Clerk Kim Davis Jailed for Denying Gay Couples Marriage License

This story has caused a lot of outrage. A Kentucky clerk, despite orders from a U.S. District judge, refused to give marriage licenses to gay couples. Kim Davis has become somewhat of a hated woman within the last few weeks with people calling for her to be everything from fired to impeached.

Well, she has now been jailed for contempt of court charges and will remain so until she complies with the judge’s orders to issue marriage licenses to all eligible couples.

Let me tell you from my experience with folks like her, she is not going to. The moment I heard about this story, I had a feeling that this woman was a part of the religious organization I used to be a part of and my feeling turned out to be right. The thing that pisses me off most about this is that the blind followers who support her will paint her as a martyr for a cause that really just shows their insensitivity and feelings of religious superiority. Sigh… but I digress.

wendy williams slams nicki minaj over miley cyrus 2015 gossipWendy Williams Slams Nicki Minaj for “Fight” with Miley Cyrus

Not being one to stray away from controversy, Wendy Williams is not afraid to voice her opinion, a talent that has gotten her where she is. Well, she has something to say about Nicki Minaj “picking” on Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMA’s.

“I didn’t watch the VMAs…But I did see the clip and I was very disappointed in Nicki… I just feel that Nicki is like twice Miley Cyrus’ age…Who fights with kids?”

Actually Wendy, Miley is not a child, she is 22 years old. And Nicki is not twice her age, you are. If the former child star is going to say stuff like a big girl about other people, she has to be able to deal with what comes with that, which may mean having the person you spoke on confront you. On some things, yes you can give younger people a pass, but what Miley said in her New York Times interview about Nicki, in my opinion, is not one of them.

denzel washington son ballers 2015Denzel Washington’s Son Breaks the Internet… Almost

It’s not every day that the son of one of the most beloved actors in the world does what so many socialites, hoes, and attention whores try to do.

Denzel Washington’s son John David Washington, who currently stars on HBO’s Ballers, has literally turned the Internet upside down. The blogosphere went crazy finding out that he is the offspring of the beautiful, chocolate ladies man. Twitter nearly lost its mind.

“So this is Denzel Washington’s son John David Washington. Denzel who? Geezus”

“Listen to me, if I EVER get my hands on Denzel Washington’s son…”

“Denzel Washington’s son…might be my first BeardGang crush.”

I personally wasn’t that taken aback by it, but it is always fun when things like this happen. People’s reaction to it is a nice break in the monotony of all the other negative, bullshit going on.

kenya moore on cynthia bailey porsha williams rhoa 2015 gossipRHOA’s Kenya Moore Weighs in on Cynthia Bailey/Porsha Williams Fight

We don’t’ really have to guess what side Kenya Moore takes in the fight that took place between Cynthia Bailey and Porsha Williams during the filming of a season eight episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta. While “witnesses” report that CB kicked PW in the stomach after being cornered by Williams, since Moore is a cast member, it does make sense for her speak on what she feels really happened after being asked a question by a Twitter fan.

“I believe in self-defense if someone attacks you and has history or violence who never apologized for their behavior or felt bad.”

This sheds some light on what may have happened during the spat between the two cast members. What kind of self-defense and from what exactly are still yet to be known, but it is clear that from Moore’s view, Williams got what has been a long time coming.

It is no surprise that Kenya feels this way too, after she herself was attacked by Porsha as the result of a heated argument during a 2014 Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion show taping.

Five Most Underrated Soccer Teams in La Liga

most underrated teams in la liga soccer 2015Malaga

Prior to taking up the Manchester City job, Manuel Pellegrini was at the helm of Malaga and in his final season at the Andalusian outfit he guided them to the quarter-final of the Champions League, where they were seconds away from making the semi-final at the expense of Borussia Dortmund, but it wasn’t to be. Soon after, money from the owner Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani dried up, but under Javi Gracia they did miraculously well on a shoestring budget and eventually finished ninth in the league standings. This season, they again look a tough nut to crack.

Sporting de Gijon

The Asturian outfit were staring at administration in the 2014/15 season and there whole existence depended upon promotion to the Spanish top flight. Under the management of former Barcelona defender Abelardo Fernandez, they gained promotion to La Liga after finishing second in the Segunda Division through pure grit and determination, and the same qualities were on full view when they held Real Madrid to a scoreless draw in their opening match of the 2015/16 season. They subsequently played out another scoreless draw against David Moyes’ Real Sociedad, and will be eager to prolong their foray in the Spanish top flight by the time the season comes to an end.

Rayo Vallecano

Paco Jemez has done an absolutely remarkable job with this Madrid-based outfit. Their budget is one of the lowest in the league; as a consequence, they are forced to rely upon free transfers and a few loan deals to keep fighting their way through, and here’s the caveat: they do all this while playing attractive, possession-based football. One of the endearing things about Los Franjirrojos is their strict adherence to attacking football no matter the opponent.

Espanyol

The less illustrious Catalonian team are a side that never give up. Although Espanyol are not a club that keep defeating the bigwigs of the Spanish league, but they keep grinding out points from the matches that they are expected to and continue their top flight status. However, they are renowned for taking their game to a whole new level whenever they face Barcelona whether home or away. They have never finished above fourth in the league standings, but at the same time of the 84 years of La Liga, they have only spent four seasons below the top flight – a good reflection of their resilience.

Celta Vigo

Eduardo Berizzo guided Os Celticos to an outstanding eighth-place league finish last term and it is testament to their belief that the Galician outfit are eyeing a spot in European football despite their meagre budget. Celta Vigo were greatly aided by the stellar form of Nolito – he scored as well assisted 11 goals in the league – last term and the striker as well as the team have started in the same fashion this season. The former Barcelona forward has scored twice and Celta Vigo sit atop the league table after the first two games. No matter where they finish in the final standings, one thing is for sure: they will be hard to get points off.

National League Week 21 Recap: Cardinals & Cubs On Top

national league week 21 cardinals cubs top mlb 2015 imagesThe count down to October has begun as teams around the National League look to lock up a chance to play during the Major League Baseball post season. As we start to look around at each of the three divisions in the National League, each of the top spots are anchored by teams that have at least a six game lead over the second place team in the division.

The St. Louis Cardinals currently sit with a six game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates while the Chicago Cubs sit just 10.5 games behind in the National League Central. While the Cardinals have the smallest of the margin of games between themselves and the second place team, the team also plays in one of the best divisions in all of Major League Baseball.

Then you have the New York Mets who have a six and half game lead over the Washington Nationals heading into play on Thursday. Meanwhile out West, the Los Angeles Dodgers have found a way to separate themselves from the second place San Francisco Giants after the two teams were just within a game last week of first place. Now the Dodgers have pulled out to a six and half game lead with just the calendar month of September to play.

While we touched on the top three teams in the National League as we entered September we will also get a chance to touch on how each division has played of late. Here is our complete National League Recap to get us prepared for another great week of baseball around Major League.

National League East: If the season ended today the Mets would take home the top spot in the National League East while the Washington Nationals would be heading home to watch the post season on television. Once a favorite not only to run away with the division but also as a favorite to win the 2015 World Series has a ton of ground to make up not only in the NL East but for one of the two wild card spots.

The Mets continue to play some of the better baseball in the National League East picking up seven wins over their last ten games. That success started on Friday August 21st as the Mets would pick up seven straight wins after sweeping the Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies. After back to back losses to the Boston Red Sox, the Mets would rebound to take game three before taking two of three from the Phillies at home.

Meanwhile the Nationals have played a little bit of late winning six of the teams last ten games. That includes taking two of three over the Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres and the Miami Marlins. Unfortunately that success couldn’t roll over to their last series, as they managed to take just one of three in St. Louis against the first place Cardinals.

Rounding out the rest of the National League East is the Miami Marlins who sit at just 55-79 after winning three straight entering Thursday. The Atlanta Braves sit in fourth place after losing eight straight and the Phillies currently sit a game back of the Braves in the win column.

National League Central: Over in the Central Division the Cardinals still sit atop the division despite challenges from both the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs. That small little gap was increased this week as the Cardinals managed to pick up eight wins over there last ten games while the Pirates managed to pick up six and the Cubs only four over that same stretch.

The keys to the Cardinals success continue to involve both their solid pitching and the ability to hit with runners in scoring position. Entering the weekend the Cardinals had scored 543 runs while the teams pitching has allowed just 401 runs. The 401 runs allowed doesn’t just lead the National League it leads all of Major League Baseball landing them atop for the fewest runs allowed in all of baseball.

That being said the team has been without a real ace since losing Adam Wainwright but don’t tell them that. The team has won nine of their last eleven games played while allowing fewer then three runs in five of those contests. In that stretch the team managed to sweep the Arizona Diamondbacks before taking two of three against the San Francisco Giants as well as the Nationals.

While the Cardinals still hold on to the top spot the Pirates are doing everything in their power to content. Unfortunately. for the Yellow and Blow the last couples days have not gone there way. Starting with a game three loss on Sunday to the Colorado Rockies before heading to Milwaukee where the Brewers would pick up the three game sweep.

Then you have the Cubs who many stated were still a season away from making the playoffs. That could all change if the team can find a way to put together another good month on paper. That will not be an easy task with six remaining against the Cardinals as well as seven more against the Pirates. The good news is the fact the team has six against the Brewers, three against the Cincinnati Reds and four against the Phillies.

Will it be to late for either the Pirates or Cubs to take the division?

National League West: As we start to move along September the playoff picture continues to take shape with only one team from the National League West appearing in focus. That team is the first place Los Angeles Dodgers who has built a solid six and half game lead with just a few weeks remaining on the season.

For every other team in baseball though that is the one team they want to see make the playoffs. When you have a one two punch like Zach Greinke and Clayton Kershaw who knows how far they could make a run to. That is if Kershaw can find a way to pitch like the regular season during post season play.

Currently the Dodgers have picked up eight wins over their last ten games while the only other team in the Division the Colorado Rockies with a winning record in that stretch. That stretch featured a three game sweep over the Reds, taking two of three against the Cubs and another three game sweep of the Giants.

Outside of the Dodgers it will be difficult for any of these other teams to find a way to make the playoffs.
