More Potential Sleepers on the Eve of Fantasy Football Week 1

potentionals sleeps for fantasy football week 1 images nfl 2015The first Sunday of NFL football is literally today. I think I may cry. I thought it was gone forever.

It’s still hard to say who the surprise players are going to be this week having seen nothing legitimate from the majority of them, but I’ll do my best. Here are a few more potential sleepers for Week 1 to consider starting in your league or maybe picking up for a cheap price on FanDuel or DraftKings:

Melvin Gordon: This one may be a stretch, be he could still be a solid flex option. The Detroit Lions defense just won’t be nearly the same without Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. Haloti Ngata will definitely have his hands full. After all, Gordon still has to prove himself to his mom.

Kirk Cousins: Lol, just kidding, please don’t do that.

Calvin Johnson: Okay, well not exactly a sleeper I guess, but don’t forget about the big man. With all the hype around Odell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, etc, etc, etc, and then the injury issues people seem to have given Megatron a backseat. It’ll take one week for him to be back on top of the ESPN Top 10.

Let’s remember two things: Johnson is 6’5. That’s pretty tall. And two, the San Diego Chargers defense is very lackluster. More importantly, their two starting cornerbacks are Brandon Flowers and Jason Verrett. Verrett, the taller of the two, is only 5’9.

Don’t worry, I already did the math for you: Calvin Johnson is taller.

After returning from injury last year, he still managed to average over 90 yards and a touchdown per game. So all I’m saying is I hope you didn’t forget about Johnson after Beckham’s crazy catch, because he’s still head-hunting secondary’s on the weekly.

Fashion Week Tumbles & Tom Cruise MENA Tragedy

fashion week tumble candice swanepoel falls on givenchy runway gossipNew York Fashion Week 2015 is officially in full swing and is filled with celebrities, models and of course, fashion.

Unfortunately, model Candice Swanepoel didn’t have the best start to the fashion festivities, as took a tumble while walking the Givenchy spring-summer 2016 show on Friday.

Candice was wearing a black, semi-sheer mid-length dress, as well as red and black-fringed heels. However, her strut down the runway was not as seamless as it usually is in her Victoria’s Secret shows, as she tripped and fell almost flat on her face. Immediately after falling, security men helped Candice up and she continued her walk down the runway, while attempting to fix her outfit.

Soon after the incident, Candice took to her Instagram to post a photo of her scraped up knee. Along with the photo she wrote a caption that reads, “Thank you to who ever picked me up off the runway tonight…left with little scratches but mostly a bruised ego. #ohwell.”

Candice Swanepoel, Instagram post:

Unfortunately, Candice wasn’t the only model to take a fall during the show. Model Pooja Mor also toppled down while maneuvering her way up and down the mini staircases that were placed on the Givenchy runway.

tom cruise mena tragedy with pilot killed 2015 gossipA horrible tragedy struck the set of Tom Cruise’s newest movie, Mena.

Two crew members where killed when their plane crashed into a mountain in Medellin, Columbia on Friday. The two men have been identified as the plane owner, U.S. film pilot Alan Purwin and a Columbian man named Carlos Berl. In addition, pilot Jimmy Lee Garland was also hospitalized for injuries sustained during the crash.

In a statement to The Los Angeles Times, Universal Pictures said:

“An Aircraft carrying crew members crashed while returning to Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellin following [the] production wrap on the film Mena, resulting in two fatalities. Further details are not available at this time. On behalf of the production, our hearts and prayers go out to the crew members and their families at this difficult time.”

Two week earlier, Alan Purwin had posted a picture of himself posing in front of his plane with star Tom Cruise, in which he claimed to be “pushing the envelope in every way.”

Alan Purwin, Instagram post:

Mena is about commercial airline pilot Barry Seal (Cruise), who works undercover for the CIA to try and catch cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar. Tom fits the role, as he is a licensed pilot in real life.

Tom Cruise has not yet commented on the unfortunate tragedy.

FANDOM Documentary (2015) Review

With millions of fantasy football fans like myself starting their leagues this week, this is a great time to take a look at a documentary covering the fastest growing hobby in America.antasy football has exploded over the past few years with more and more people figuring out what the fuss is all about.

Fandom takes a look at fantasy football from several different angles to see what is so special about a hobby that was once just for stat geeks. It was produced by Andrew Aronow and features real fantasy players, fantasy football experts, and some NFL players.

If you’re looking for lots of daily fantasy coverage, it doesn’t happen in this film. It focuses on season long leagues, but does mention the recent growth of daily fantasy leagues.

The most interesting part of Fandom to me is where the film explores the big money leagues. $25,000 buy-in leagues are no joke. Former financial brokers, guys with backers in their leagues? Insane, right.

It just sounds crazy on the outside. But letting big sums of cash ride on NFL fantasy football is very similar to betting on the stock market on a week to week basis. It’s all numbers, trends, late breaking news, and some gut feelings.

One of the big money players featured was Chad Schroeder. This high roller said that he once won a fantasy tournament that netted him about $250K, but the company went bankrupt! So he was out his $25K entry fee and his winnings.

Incredible, but not as insane as his statement that “Every dime I currently have come from sports gambling and fantasy football.” Dude was living comfortably by the way.

Schroeder and the guys in his league were on one end of the spectrum in Fandom. The documentary also took a look at the average Joes playing fantasy football.

These guys were more relatable to most fantasy players. During their draft, beer is mandatory, insults fly from all directions, and each player thinks he is a fantasy football genius.

“Chotzi” was the weirdest and the guy who drafts with his heart rather than his brain. If you have ever watched FXX’s “The League,” then you will have an idea of the type of nuts we’re talking about, although the real life guys are obviously more toned down than the guys on the TV show.

The film took a look at how many women are joining fantasy football leagues, some just to have something in common with their husbands or boyfriends. One lady even gave tutorials over wine with her friends to teach them about football and how to play fantasy ball.

We got to take a look at individual matchups as the NFL season played out. This is a good primer for fantasy football newbies, complete with graphics to show how the winner managed to get over on their opponent. For me, I could have done without the matchups.

I was more interested in the history of fantasy football, the expanded media coverage, and how the NFL handles the “gambling aspect.”

I had no idea that USA Today was the first newspaper to include football stats from all the NFL teams on a weekly basis. That made it easier for fantasy football leagues to tally up winners and losers. Imagine the time it took to check several different newspapers to get stats on your weekly matchups. No internet at the time folks!

2015 fantasy players have it so easy.

Think the NFL RedZone would even exist without fantasy football. Hell no. It’s there to show fantasy players what they want to see, scoring on the field and in their digital leagues.

Fandom makes an excellent point about the NFL frowning on individual football players getting attention. Roger Goodell and the team owners want the League to be the focus always. That keeps the suits in charge of all the leverage. Can’t have the cogs in the NFL wheel being more important than the machine itself.

Fantasy football changes that and over time may shift the balance of power more to the NFL ballers. If you play fantasy football then you are going to know much more about certain skill position players on the field, instead of just following your favorite team. The NFL players union should use fantasy football as a weapon against he Shield when needed.

Fantasy football removes the helmet, making players faceless no more.

Some of the players in the film talked about how regular Joes talk to them about how the player helped them win matchups. The NFLers also had to deal with nuts on Twitter who get pissed when the player failed to score enough points.

Marshall Faulk said guys would tell him they needed three touchdowns from him, but still hoped his Rams lost that week.

Still, the benefits outweigh the negatives. An NFL player can build a bigger audience if he handles his fantasy interactions properly. That audience can mean more dollars in his pocket long term.

How does the NFL balance its stance on gambling with all the new daily fantasy sites that pay real money? That will be a balancing act that plays out over the next few years. Politicians are bound to get involved with the “loophole” that allows fantasy play for cash, since skill is involved more so than luck.

Along with the big money leagues, I enjoyed seeing the social aspect of the guys in the regular Joe’s leagues. Fantasy football gives people something to talk about. It’s competitive and that adds to the fun. But the icebreaker aspect is more important. Better to discuss a Tony Romo wrecking your matchup with a three pick fiasco than to talk about the weather, no?

Chris, the young man in Fandom with cancer, said fantasy football allowed him to take his mind off his illness. His brother Paul was wrapping up his college football career and fantasy football will be the only way he is involved in competitive sports going forward. Just like most guys.

By the way these two brothers got accused of collusion on a trade that eventually got vetoed by their league! Their league even had an official rulebook to stop such trades. Their commish takes his league seriously son.

Overall Fandom did a good job of covering all aspects of fantasy football. Hopefully the producers can come back soon to cover daily fantasy play, which warrants an entire documentary itself.

I have done a ton of reading on fantasy sports over the past year, but learned even more by watching Fandom. I had no idea that a 24 hour network covering fantasy sports even existed. I didn’t know Kendra Wilkinson was a fantasy player (still not sure I buy that one). And I may have to ask my insurance agent about “Fantasy Sports Insurance Coverage” in case my QB goes down in week two.

It’s amazing how fantasy football has expanded the universe around football.

Showing the weekly matchups didn’t interest me as much as showing the quirky personalities of some of the players involved. I can see how rookies could benefit from seeing that breakdown though. Newbies to fantasy play will also be helped by some of the experts from “Rotoexperts.com” giving out tips.

If you can make time between watching the RedZone, doing last minute lineup adjustments, and actually watching full NFL games, take 90 minutes to check out Fandom. You will come away with a better understanding of fantasy football and also get introduced to some interesting fantasy personalities.

Chris’s story is a moving one worth the watch.

Kardashians Afraid Of Amber Rose Blac Chyna Kiss & Tell & NeNe Leakes Job Seeking

The week is over and the Kardashians aren’t playing with Amber Rose and Blac Chyna anymore. They’ve sent a cease and desist letter trying to block their reality show, Countess Vaughan shows off her new body and NeNe Leakes is ready to move into the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills zip code.

kardashians vs black chyna amber rose 2015 gossipKardashians Tell Amber Rose and Blac Chyna to Cease and Desist

The Kardashians are not playing with Blac Chyna and Amber Rose. First, Kim KW tried to stop the “former(?) strippers turned baby mommas of famous rappers” reality TV show from happening by using, I don’t know, her pull in Hollywood. When that didn’t work, she enlisted the help of her famous sisters.

Sources claim the Kardashian girls are preparing a cease and desist letter and are willing to take any action to prevent Blac and Amber from getting their 15 minutes of reality TV shine. I guess they just assume that their show will automatically center around the Kardashian family, you now since both of the women have negative ties to one or more of the attention whoring clan.

The story goes that Kim and Khloe, who we all know does not hold back, confronted Rose and Chyna letting them know that they will do whatever they can to stop their show from happening.

This is such a screwed up thing for the K-Klub to do. Why are they trying to stop these women from getting theirs? I mean they themselves made a fortune off of gossip, salacious pictures, under age romances, short-lived marriages and a sex tape. Who the hell are they to try to stop someone else from getting their paper? They have some nerve.

countess vaughn weight loss 2015 gossipCountess Vaughan On her Weight Loss and Being True to Herself

Actress Countess Vaughn is having the last laugh right now. It seems like every few months or so, the conversation about her body, what she looks like and what she is up to resurfaces and there is no doubt that being a member of the reality show Hollywood Divas has aided in such conversations.

It is no secret that Vaughn has struggled with her weight, which not too long ago was the topic of cruel and stupid ridicule on social media. Well things are definitely looking up for her as she revealed her new and “improved” healthier body with some sext Instagram photos.

The thing about her transformation too is that she has not been coy on hiding the fact that she has gone under the knife to help her achieve her look. I always respect women more when they just admit to it instead of trying to maintain that they did something naturally. That sends the wrong message especially to other people who struggle in a world where you are judged and dealt with based on how you look.

Countess has always maintained her confidence and has proudly displayed the love she has for herself, which might make people question why she would got to a plastic surgeon to help her achieve her body goals. But if you ask me, I’m all for people doing what they feel they need to in order to be truly happy with who they are.

According to Countess, liposuction, helped her drop three dress sizes and she followed up on that with changing her eating habits and working out.

How about a round of applause?

nene leakes real housewives of beverly hills 2015 gossipNeNe Leakes Seeking spot on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?

So one of the great things about being a part of a reality TV show franchise, regardless of how shallow, ratched, unrealistic and superficial it may be, is the opportunity to easily transition from one show to another. Right? Well that is what Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes is hoping.

Fans of the show reeled when it was made official that she is leaving the RHOA back in May but they may have something to look forward to as it seems the hustle woman wants in on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

“I would love to join the Beverly Hills ‘Housewives.’ I’d be the only brown girl there.”

While it is definitely true that Mrs. Leakes would bring a very unique dynamic to the show, is Beverly Hills ready for a character like her? Maybe not, as she is clearly prepared to shake things up where ever she goes.

“I’d love to fight those girls a little bit. They need a brown girl, I promise. I’d love to do it.”

I’m sure you would NeNe. And as far as what really went down with her leaving RHOA, she sets the record straight.

“Honey, money ain’t everything, OK? I was the only original there, and it was the end of my contract…I was offered Season 8, to come back, and it was my decision. I just wanted to do other things. Also, I felt like being on the show all of this time, I felt like I was being attacked a lot.”

She goes on further to say that she is irreplaceable and it would take a truckload of men AND women to do so.

PARANORMAL WITNESS 403 Molech Recap

paranormal witness molech recap 2015 imagesOn last night’s episode of “Paranormal Witness,” a couple discovered that their new home was haunted and the ghost was changing their son’s Booby Jr’s personality. The homeowner, Bob Cranmer, bought the house with his wife Lesa after serving in the U.S. Army as a Military Intelligence Officer. He now works full time in politics.

From 1998 to 2006, in Brentwood, PA, Bob and Lesa lived in their dream house. Bob said he wanted the house because he liked the way it made him feel, and he saw himself as a budding statesman. Bob said that the house oozes history.

On a bedroom door in the house, Bob and Lesa found a doorknocker. Their son Bobby immediately pointed out the bedroom he wanted to be his when they moved in. In the basement of the house, Lesa said she smelled sulfur and burning rubber. They found a room in the basement with an older, working furnace. Before they even left the house, Bob told the owners he wanted to buy it and the owners agreed to let him. Bob pointed out it was so strange that the current owners were so anxious to sell the house.

Bobby Jr said his new bedroom was dark and cold. After they moved in Lesa started redecorating the house. When she removed wallpaper in one of the rooms she saw words written all over the wall. Lesa then stepped in a strange puddle on the floor in the hallway. Bobby Jr said it looked like settled Jello.

The chain for the light in the coat closet was wrapped around the light itself, when it had been left dangling. In bed one night, Bobby Jr felt something in the room coming after him.

Lesa then found another puddle on the floor, this time in the bathroom. She said it smelled like it was moldy, musty and rotting. Home sick from school, Bobby Jr started hearing noises in his bedroom. He said the noises got increasingly louder. He said something was coming to get him. He said he closed his eyes and screamed at that he was so scared he couldn’t move. Lesa said Bobby Jr became withdrawn and wanted nothing to do with his parents. Bob said he thought it was just teenage rebellion but Lesa said it was beyond that.

Alone in the house, Lesa heard heavy footsteps coming from the foyer than then went up the steps. Lesa went upstairs calling out the word hello, but got no response. Bobby Jr’s bedroom door was closed even though he had left it open that morning. Lesa said when she opened the door Bobby Jr’s room was completely empty. She said something hit her in the back of the ankles and knocked her down the stairs. Lesa moved Bobby Jr out of his bedroom and Bob said this made no sense to him. Bob and Lesa then started using Bobby Jr’s room as their own.

Lesa said their daughter Jessica contacted them about moving back home with her young son. Lesa said she couldn’t physically do anything anymore but she couldn’t explain why.

She said Bob noticed a big difference in her. He would come home and find that she had done nothing all day long. Bob said Lesa became very introverted and it was strange. Bob said he was concerned that Lesa might be having an affair. He searched the house for clues to what was happening. He found unpaid bills and collection notices in a closet in the house. Bill confronted Lesa and she said she couldn’t help doing nothing and something was wrong in the house.

Bob heard a banging sound in the basement and went to explore. He said there was a noxious smell. He felt an ominous presence in the basement but nothing was there. He then saw a black shape moving right in front of his face and realized they were sharing the house with a visitor. Bob told Lesa about this and she was relieved he saw it. Bob said they didn’t tell their kids what was going on in the house. Lesa then suddenly felt good again.

Bob happened to be friends with the Mayor of Pittsburgh and Bob told him about the problems he and Lesa were having in the house. The Mayor said he would go to his Bishop and see what the man had to say about it. Bob spoke to the Bishop and said he was very matter of the fact in his speaking. Bob asked the Bishop to come to their house and help get rid of the spirits but the Bishop said no. Lesa said she and Bob were going to fight for their home.

Lesa said when she went to do laundry she felt a presence. She also smelled the scent of birthing fluid. Bob found out a pediatrician had previously owned the house. He said the pediatrician had specialized in performing illegal abortions. Bob said the doctor had an abortion clinic in the house. The Bishop asked Bob if there was a void anywhere in the house and he thought of the closet with the cord wrapped around the light. Bob opened the closet’s secret entrance and said it smelled old and he found a bird skeleton and crumbled up piece of paper in there. He unfolded the paper and said the writing was in sacrificial font and had a passage from the Old Testament. Bob said it reminded him of something he had read in the Bible.

Bob said the furnace in the basement was a sacrificial haunt in the house where the former owner used to put the remains of the babies he killed. They saw blood on the wall of their house and Lesa wrote words on the wall claiming the house. They had a mass in the basement that was run by a local priest, in order to chase away the demon that was present in their haunted house.

BRING IT! 220 Elite Starz Of Nashville Flame On

bring it recap dancing dolls vs elite starz nashville flame on 2015On the latest episode of Bring It has all kinds of twists and turns. From the parents dealing with Miss D to the man diva, the coach for their competition at the Light Up the Dance Floor competition. They really have a tough one on their hands. Their biggest competition is the Elite Starz of Nashville who’s male coach is something else, to say the least.

Dianna tells the girls to not take ESN lightly just because they are a new team. In the Dancing Dolls’ jazzy burlesque routine, Dianna keeps it age appropriate. For the competition, only the captains or the best three girls from each team, will dance in the stance battle, yet another twist.

Back in the parents lounge, they talk about very thing from striper poles, which the other moms were surprised that Mashumba says she has one, to the way that Dianna talks to the girls. It seems that they are tired of hearing and seeing her yell and just make them feel bad. So they decide to have an “intervention” in which they express to her how they feel and even write the concerns and suggestions out for Dianna.

While all the moms are a bit upset, Selena feels that she is always picking on her children. This week, Star has to prove that she can make cuts. She goes through the routine and thankfully, makes it. I don’t know how these women can keep letting Dianna say whatever she wants cuss at them without saying something every week. When Crystianna, Carmyn and Makalah practice their routine for the sand battle, as she dismisses the other girls, this chick straight cusses them out, saying that they need to “get your shit together.”

The moms call Dianna into their meeting, and she feels like they are calling her in to give her a list of demands like they are “holding the dollhouse captive.” Dianna does not give one care about what they say or how they feel and is totally rude. She does not take anything they have to say into consideration and goes off on them saynig during her confession, “I ain’t changing nothing.” One of the hottest topics is that of who will be captain. This is the first time that Mimi actually stands up and goes against her friend (Miss Dianna). Dianna stands her grown, throws the papers at them and walk out. At the end of their meeting, they say they hate having a meeting with her because “she be changing your mind and shit.

On the day of competition, the girls are tense and probably even more so because of Dianna’s yelling at them during practice and having to dance during the stand battle with just three of them.  While in the locker room, Miss D runs into the EZN’s coach in the hall. He calls her Cookie, Boo Boo Kitty and Boo boo, to which Miss D says during her confession, “My name’s not Cookie.” They exchange fakries and go their separate ways.

bring it elite starz of nashville coach 2015The creative competition is first and everyone, plus the parents have to admit how well EZN danced. During their performance, they bring out everyone from parents, to older girls, to roller skates to even the captain himself.

DD makes their way to the floor and their stance is not bad at all. Is it as creative as ESN? I’ll just say I wanted to get up and dance when they were on the floor, but it’s all about the judges and what they think.

During the stand battle, the trio brings it and Dianna knows that she made the right choice in having them represent DD.  The girls win their round, which pushes them through to the final. But EZN does not make it, which is a shame because Dianna really wanted to go against them. The team for Chattanooga, TN Royal Envy Dance (RED) Team wins

The final Trio stand battle is up and they hit the floor, showing that they really are the best of the best on the Dancing Dolls. Royal Envy Dance (RED) team brings it as they are “gunning for the Dancing Dolls.” The parents have to be honest that they are serving it up to them.

DD claps at them with a leg hold that they maintain for four eight counts. Dianna saw this as a part of their secret weapon, but RED hits them right back with the same move. Or they tried to because two of their girls could not even do it.

In the end, DD win first place in both creative and the trio stand-battle. It didn’t look like DD would take it but they did and it is a major boot to their confidence.

Khloe Kardashian Brother Love & Liam Payne Opens Up: Celebrity Gossip

khloe kardashian defends rob kardashian malcolm x 2015 gossipSiblings Khloe and Rob Kardashian have always had a close bond. Therefore, it is not surprising that Khloe stepped in and defended her brother when he was being attacked online.

It began late Thursday night when Rob posted a video of Malcolm X on his Instagram. In the video Malcolm X is seen saying, “I don’t worry, I’ll tell ya [sic]. I’m a man who believes that I died 20 years ago and I live like a man whose dead already. I have no fear whatsoever of anybody or anything.”

After posting the video, Rob was slammed by countless users on the social media site, criticizing him for comparing himself to Malcolm X.

However, not long after Khloe decided to intervene and began responding to numerous hate comments. In one response she said, “he is not comparing himself you judgmental f***. Where did you say he was?!?! He’s simply admiring another man’s wisdom, strength and courage…can’t one admire another without the stories being thrown. Chill out. Get off my brother’s page.”

After lashing out, Khloe decided to reel things in a bit and added a more tamed addition to her response to the particular user saying, “…he gets criticized for being too private and then when he decides to et back on social media he get attacked. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Let’s uplift one another and not assume. Let’s all root for Rob.”

Khloe isn’t the only one supporting Rob, as he seeks out a healthier and happier life. Reports claim that Kanye West, Rob’s brother-in-law, is also helping train Rob both mentally and physically.

liam payne gay attitude interview 2015 gossipOne Direction’s Liam Payne’s newest solo interview with gay lifestyle magazine Attitude has been released.  In the October issue, Liam opens up about his sobriety, his band mates and rumors that have been circulating.

He begins explaining his struggle with body image and drinking saying, “I started drinking a lot and I began to get a bit tubbier. In fact, because of that I was getting fat jibes all the time, which hurt me…I’m not afraid to say I went through a pretty bad stage. And for that time in my life, that was perfect for me.”

However, he goes on to explain that he has since cut back on his reckless behavior explaining, “there were just a few times that I went over the limit with things and then I had to pull back. I was very fortunate that I had lots of great people around me who said to me, ‘Look Liam, you need to chill out a bit now.”

Liam continued stating, “I am not here to be a role model. It’s a difficult thing to place pressure on you when you’re so young. I’m going to mess up from time to time. Everyone does. I’m only human, and sometimes I let my guard down a little too much.”

Liam then began talking about the recent news that the band was going on hiatus. He explains, “I realize now this is the time to start branching out and exploring. [This is the] first time I have done something on my own…. at the same time it’s a super scary thing because [doing this interview alone is] such a huge statement to make.]”

However, Liam did assure the magazine and fans that the boy band will be back together in the future.

In the interview, Liam also talked about his band mate Louis Tomlinson, who is a soon-to-be father. Liam said, “He’s very happy about becoming a dad. But the funny thing is, there are some people out there who think that Louis getting Briana pregnant is fake. That it’s not real; it’s a cover up. And that’s the sort of s**t that gets to me. But you have to hold your tongue and that’s fine.”

Unfortunately, since Liam’s candid interview was released many have not responded too well to his surprising honestly. Fans seemed to be upset with the star, especially since he dissed the fan-made fantasy romance between Louis and Harry, which he said is “nuts” and “drives [him] insane.”

Liam has since taken to Twitter to defend his answers.

Bold Soccer Predictions for Europa League finalists

bold soccer predictions europa league borussia dortmund 2015 imagesBorussia Dortmund

Under the management of Thomas Tuchel, the German giants have started the 2015/16 season in a spectacular fashion. They dispatched Champions League entrants Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 in their opening league fixture, followed it up with another 4-0 hammering of newly promoted Ingolstadt and went into the international break with a 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin. The BVB have also been hugely impressive in the Europa League as they registered an aggregate 6-0 win over Wolfsberger AC in their third qualifying round and then dispatched Odds BK with a 11-6 win over the two legs to make the group stage of the second tier European competition.

More significantly, they are playing attractive and dynamic football, something they desperately lacked last season under Jurgen Klopp. They have been pitted in a group comprising of PAOK, Krasnodar and Gabala in the Europa League – relatively easy fixtures and the Germans would be expected to top the group on their way to the next round.

Also, the line-ups that Tuchel has fielded in the Europa League so far suggest that he is taking the tournament with seriousness – something that Premier League clubs seem to lack in the competition. And if they can sufficiently manage the rigours of the Bundesliga – where they are expected to challenge Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich for the league title, then it wouldn’t be beyond them to reach the final of the Europa League due to be played at St. Jakob-Park in Basel.

athletic bilbao europa league finalists 2015Athletic Bilbao

The Spanish giants started their 2015/16 season in spectacular fashion as they hammered reigning Spanish and European champions Barcelona 4-0 in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup at the San Mames. They drew the second leg at the Camp Nou 1-1 to collect their first trophy in over 30 years much to the delight of their supporters.

However, so far they have been unable to carry the same form into the league matches and have been on the losing end of their first two fixtures. Barcelona defeated the Basques 1-0 at the San Mames courtesy of a strike from Luis Suarez in their opening game of the league campaign and Ernesto Valverde’s side then succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of tiny Basque rivals Eibar in their second league outing.

However, these are still early days in the season and Athletic Bilbao will be eager to put their initial disappointments behind them and get their season on track. In the Europa League, they have been pitted against AZ Alkmaar, FK Partizan and Augsburg. Although the Basques are not clear favourites in the group, they will surely be expecting to come out unscathed and march upwards in the second tier European competition.

If things go according to plan, then Valverde will look to repeat the 2012 heroics of his side under then manager Marcelo Bielsa when they made the final of the competition, although Valverde will be hoping for a different final outcome from the summit clash.

Fantasy Football Quarterbacks Week 1: Start, Sit, Sleeper

fantasy football quartersback week 1 tony romo cowboys nfl 2015Week 1 is upon us, so you better read this fast and make your lineup adjustments before the 12 o’clock kickoff. Here’s some tips for who to play at QB (assuming you don’t have Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers, of course).

Start: Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys—As much as it pains me to say that Romo is good in any situation, he’s definitely not a bad start for the first week of 2015. Romo has a pretty good history against the New York Giants, and on top of that New York’s defense will be a little short-handed (no pun intended) without Jason Pierre-Paul or Jon Beason on the field. Romo could easily be top 5 in fantasy points this week.

Sit: Colin Kaepernick, Marcus Mariota, and Jameis Winston—Just stay away. Colin Kaepernick just sucks now, that’s just how it is. Until further notice, he should be sitting on your bench. Mariota and Winston are rookies, and it’s never overly smart to start a rookie QB Week One. No one really knows how these guys are going to look, and everything will just be speculation until after their matchup.

I guess if you have no other options, you can start one of them, but if that’s the case you really screwed up in your draft.

Sleeper Pick: Sam Bradford, Philadelphia Eagles—I’ve been pretty high on Bradford all offseason. The Eagles offense is set up so that anyone can succeed and do very well (i.e. Nick Foles). Bradford hasn’t played in a regular season game in a while, but he looked absolutely fantastic in preseason. Let’s not forget that this guy is a Heisman winner and 1st overall pick.

Need more convincing? Bradford is matched up against the Atlanta Falcons defense. I’ve seen Chip Kelly tear up good defenses, so this should be an absolute slaughter fest against the worst defense of 2014.

Top 10 Most Underrated NFL Players 2015

most underrated nfl players marques colston 2015Even if you are not a huge football fan, the names Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are recognizable. Fans know DeMarco Murray and LeSean Jackson and defensive stars like J.J. Watt and Clay Matthews. For every one of those big names, there are numerous other players who perform at a high level, even win awards for their work, that go unnoticeable during the course of a season. Here’s a look at some of those players, the most underrated in the National Football League.

DeAndre Levy, LB Detroit

Levy was drafted out of Wisconsin back in 2009. The third round pick has emerged into a defensive leader for the Lions. He became a full-time starter in 2011 and recorded 109 tackles. Levy is so valued by his teammates and the organization that he was named the Lions MVP in each of the past two seasons. He recorded a career high 151 tackles last season and was named a second-team All-Pro.

Corey Graham, CB Buffalo

Graham was a small-school product playing his college football at FCS New Hampshire. The Bears thought enough of him to draft him in the fifth round in 2007 and by 2011 Graham was an All-Pro and playing in his first and only Pro Bowl. He won a Super Bowl ring with Baltimore in 2012 and signed a 4-year, $16 million deal with Buffalo prior to last season. He is a solid corner who does not give up a lot of big plays.

Thomas Davis, OLB Carolina

A first team All-SEC and consensus All-American as a senior at Georgia in 2004, Davis had everything going for him. He was the 14th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, but suffered torn ACL injuries in three consecutive seasons, 2009, 2010, and 2011. No player in the league had ever come back from three such injuries, but Davis has proved everyone wrong. He has recorded 100-plus tackles in each of the past three seasons, was a Pro Football Focus second-team All-Pro in 2013, and won the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award last season.

Brandon Marshall, OLB Denver

There is Brandon Marshall the receiver whom most NFL fans know. Then, there is Brandon Marshall the linebacker. Drafted in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by Jacksonville, this Marshall was released by the Jags and was a practice squad player his first season. When the Broncos needed someone to fill in for Von Miller, Marshall was signed to the Broncos practice squad in 2013. Last season, he came into his own with 113 tackles, two sacks, and an interception. He’ll start this year along with Miller and DeMarcus Ware.

Mike Adams, SS Indianapolis

Adams is another small-school guy with loads of potential. He played collegiately at Delaware and was an undrafted free agent who signed with San Francisco in 2004. Adams was used sparingly until he signed with Cleveland in 2007. He started 32 games in five seasons with the Browns before moving over to Indy prior to the 2014 season. Last year, he started all 16 games and recorded 87 tackles and five interceptions.

Sen’Derrick Marks, DT Jacksonville

Marks is a huge talent. He was a freshman All-American at Auburn and eventually declared for the NFL Draft after his junior season. The 6-2, 294-pound Marks was drafted in the second round by Tennessee in 2009 and signed by the Jags in 2013. He recorded 44 tackles, including 8.5 sacks last season. Marks did suffer an ACL injury in the 2014 season finale but his rehab has been going well and he is hopeful to start the season for Jacksonville. He will play a big role in how much the Jags defense improves.

Marques Colston, WR New Orleans

Colston enters his 10th season in the NFL, all with the Saints, and has amassed one of the strongest, yet unnoticed, resumes in the game. He has averaged 74 catches and 1,000-plus yards per season mostly playing second fiddle to guys like former New Orleans tight end Jimmy Graham. Colston’s production has tapered somewhat over the past two seasons, but he is still one of the NFL’s elite receivers.

Cameron Heyward, DE Pittsburgh

The son of Craig “Ironhead” Heyward a long-time NFL fullback, Cameron was a first round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2011. He has slowly turned into a force to be reckoned with in the Steelers defensive scheme. Last year, he enjoyed his best season with 53 total tackles and 7.5 sacks. Heyward needs to have another great season with the retirement of Jason Worilds and an aging James Harrison.

T.J. McDonald, FS St. Louis

A key to the improvement of the Rams defense, the 6-3, 217-pound McDonald recorded 84 total tackles last season to go with two sacks and an interception. The son of former USC All-American and 13-year NFL veteran, McDonald can cover a lot of ground. He is physical in defending the run and has the range, height, and size to cover receivers.

Matt Forte, RB Chicago

Forte is easily the most overlooked running back in the league. All he has done is rush or over 1,000 yards in five of seven seasons. In the other two he rushed for 929 and 997, respectively. He is also one of the best receivers out of the backfield in the NFL. Last season, Forte caught 102 passes for 808 yards and four TDs. In seven NFL seasons, Forte has accounted for well over 10,000 yards of total offense and 57 touchdowns.

2015 US Open: Novak Djokovic vs Roger Federer

0

novak djokovic vs roger federer us open finals 2015 tennisThe 2015 US Open started with 128 players just less than two weeks ago however, following play on Friday, only two now remain. The survivors are the top two seeds in the event and the top two betting favorites from the onset of the tournament, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

Djokovic advanced in what was a breeze of a victory in the first men’s semifinal match on Friday. The World No. 1 had drawn defending champion Marin Cilic. Heading into the encounter Djokovic was a crushing 13-0 against the Croat and the Serb only improved on that head-to-head series. Djokovic demolished Cilic in straight sets, winning 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 in what is an embarrassing loss for last year’s champion.

Cilic’s dismal performance on Friday, one that appears to have been induced by an ankle injury, was marked by more double faults than aces. Last year, en route to the championship, Cilic put on a service clinic in defeating Federer. However this year the Croat barely held serve in the semis, he had just four aces in the entire match, and he gifted five points to Djokovic via the double fault. Cilic’s overall first serve percentage was just 45% and he only won a pathetic 22% of the points played on his second serve.

The Croat, since winning the 2014 US Open, has been plagued with injuries. With his body failing on Friday you have to wonder if he will go down as a one-slam wonder or if he in fact has what it takes to win a Grand Slam again. But given that he only won three games against the World No. 1 in this year’s semifinals you have to doubt that Cilic will be able to perform in the late rounds of major tournaments in the future.

“It’s not easy knowing your opponent is not 100 percent,” Djokovic said after the match, referencing Cilic’s bad ankle. “Obviously, I executed the game plan.”

On the bottom half of the draw, Federer also demolished his opponent. The World No. 2 faced Stan Wawrinka with a spot in the final at stake.

Federer, in a match that barely took an hour and a half, ousted Wawrinka 6-4, 6-3, 6-1. In doing so the Swiss Maestro advanced to his first US Open final in six years and seventh overall. Of note, Federer had ten aces against just two double faults. Furthermore, Federer won 80% of the points played on his first serve.

Fans will surely remember his period of dominance between 2004 and 2009, a time frame where he only lost one match at Flushing Meadows. However since losing to Juan Martin del Potro in the ’09 final there have been numerous losses in the US Open’s semifinal round for Fed, including multiple losses to Djokovic.

With how lopsided their matches have been at this year’s US Open, it is not surprising that Federer vs. Djokovic remains the only match remaining. That is especially the case given how far removed from victory both of the losers in the semifinals were. Furthermore, neither Andy Murray nor Rafael Nadal had much to offer at Flushing Meadows this season – both were eliminated by players that subsequently failed to win another match.

The men’s 2015 US Open final will be played on Sunday with a noon (ET) start time. Djokovic will likely enter the match as the betting favorite as he has been the favorite to win the US Open since betting odds were released on the event a full year ago. However the match promises to be close and it’s Federer that holds the slightest of series edges at 21-20 over the current World No. 1. That series includes a recent win by Fed at the 2015 Cincinnati Masters just a few weeks ago.

Justin Bieber’s Today Diva Moment & I AM CAIT’s Heated Finale

The promos for the season finale of I Am Cait have been released. In them, Caitlyn is seen having an intense one-on-one conversation with her ex-wife, Kris Jenner.

One of the clips shows them confronting one another, after a long period of very little communication between them (following Caitlyn’s big reveal on the cover of Vanity Fair). During the sit down Kris Jenner tells Caitlyn, “One of the reasons I wanted to talk to you was because I don’t want your feelings to be hurt like the other day when I heard that you weren’t happy about not being included in Kylie [Jenner]’s graduation.”

Caitlyn begins getting emotional as she replies, “It wasn’t me making that decision. It was you making that decision. I was so disappointed in everybody.” Going on to explain, “For 15 years of my life I carpooled kids every day…some days I would spend 3 or 4 hours in the car. [It’s] a slap in the face when you don’t even get invited to their graduation.”

Kris tries to justify her decision not to invite her ex by explaining, “that’s exactly how I felt with the Vanity Fair article because I spent 25 years of my life and 18 hours a day…” However, Caitlyn interrupts saying, “Vanity Fair was months ago, we’re talking about what happened just a few days ago.”

You can catch the full conversation between Kris and Caitlyn on the season finale of I Am Cait on Sunday, September 13.

justin bieber diva moment on today show 2015 gossip

The long bangs didn’t last long for Justin Bieber or having a temper tantrum which was caught on the Today Show’s camera.

After debuting his Kate Gosselin-esque hairstyle at the 2015 VMAs, Bieber received plenty of comments – some good, but mostly bad – regarding his new cut.

It seems that the public’s judgment might have gotten to the young pop star as Thursday morning, Bieber donned a whole new look on stage during NBC’s Today show. Justin sported a short, platinum blonde cut.

The haircut is very similar to the style he had back in December of 2014. He revealed to Today’s Tamron Hall, that it took over 2 and a half hours to get the platinum look back.

While on the Today show, the 21-year-old performed several of his hits including, ‘As Long as You Love Me,’ ‘Boyfriend,’ ‘Where Are U Now,” and ‘What Do You Mean?’ In addition, he performed an acoustic cover of his song ‘Baby,’ which brought fans right back to Bieber’s glory days.

While performing, fans screamed “Bieber’s back!” However, Justin wanted to make it clear that he was always around saying, “I never left, but I took some time to do some soul searching for sure.”

Justin has revealed that he will be announcing a new album in November.

justin bieber complaining today show camers 2015 gossip

Then he was caught complaining/whining about a cameraman who was obviously doing his job too well for Bieber’s taste. As the segment was cutting away to commercial, Bieber grumbled about how the crew member was too close for comfort.

“Next time I won’t dance because the camera’s here the whole time,” he raged. “Might as well not dance.”

“What do I do this for if they’re just going to…” he added, before the show went to commercial.
