SURVIVOR: SECOND CHANCE 3102 Shirin & Spencer Go Bottom Up

survivor 3102 shirin spencer jump from top to bottom 2015Spencer and Shirin got to see how quickly things change on this episode of “Survivor: Second Chances,” and Kelley said Tribal Council was devastating and this isn’t how she wanted it to start out. She also said she hadn’t had a chance to look at her immunity idol. Spencer said those playing new school had an edge over those playing old school so far. Jeff said hey voted out Vytas so he could get rid of Shirin and Spencer next, because they were playing the game too hard. Terry said he left Tribal Council feeling like crap and said he had to make sure to play a social game this time around.

Joe said he wanted to have fun and do stuff, so he made a hammock. He said last season he was the game’s biggest threat and this time he just wanted to be someone other people needed. Stephen said Joe is too good for his own self. Abi said she was trying to act like a new person this season. Spencer called Abi a drama queen and said it was frightening he had to protect her in the game because it was for his best interest. He called her a permanent liability. Spencer accused Abi of being there to cause drama and Stephen said she pushed everyone’s buttons for her own entertainment.

Kass said the other players this season are nicer than the ones she dealt with on her previous season. Jeremy said he is competing on Survivor again because his wife is pregnant. Peih Gee said she was embarrassed to be caught talking about Abi behind her back, but she knows no one likes Abi. Abi said the whole alliance was making her look like a fool. Terry told Abi he liked her and wanted her to stick around.

This week’s immunity challenge was a race across a frames with a rope carrying heavy crates. There was a puzzle in the crate and whoever put it together first would get a survival tool kit and materials to improve the shelter at the camp of the winning tribe. Joe’s tribe won the challenge. Jeff said Spencer or Shirin were going home this week because they were the ones responsible for the tribe losing.

Spencer said he was happy to have control of the game with Shirin. Jeff said he wanted to get rid of threats as soon as possible. He said the two biggest threats in the game were Spencer and Shirn. He also said that they are a two headed snake and he doesn’t care which head gets cut off. Peih Gee said Spencer and Shirin are the only ones she doesn’t get along with. Kelley said Shirin and Spencer were her original allies. Shirin said she wanted to make sure Abi still felt good because she was all over the place. Shirin apologized for not having stood up for Abi the night before in a verbal argument about the game. Abi said she tried to have Shirin’s back but she couldn’t do any more for her. Shirin said she and Spencer should be riding high in the game but they are not. Spencer said he was frustrated and exasperated about his position in this game and that he had to make getting through the week a priority. Woo said he wasn’t going to align himself with Shirin when he doesn’t even know her. Shirin said she felt sick at the thought of going home. Spencer said he wanted this time on Survivor to be different but it was turning out the way it did last time he played. He said he didn’t want to screw over Shirin because she was the only one he wanted to play the game with.

At Tribal Council Spencer said he thought they all had amnesia since last time they played the game. Shirin said her first time around was rough and this time was becoming rough too. She said some people have lost trust in her. Abi said Peih Gee and Shirin were talking behind her back and she felt betrayed as a result. Abi also said Terry was the only one to rescue her in this game. Shirin said change was hard and that they couldn’t necessarily do it overnight. The voting took place and Jeff Probst tallied the votes to determine that Shirin was going home.

LAW & ORDER SVU 1702 Transgender Bride Right On Track Recap

law order svu 1702 transgender bride recap images 2015As usual “Law & Order SVU,” hits us with a very topical storyline and starts off with three teenage boys seeing a boy their age named Avery in a dress. They ran over to the boy and bullied him. They took his camera from him and one of the boys threw the transgender boy over a bridge onto the concrete below.

Benson and Sonny went to Avery’s hospital room to find out what happened. Avery said they grabbed his skirt and bag and when the boys grabbed him he tripped over his high heels and fell. His father said this had happened before and local police hadn’t done enough to stop it. They viewed cell phone videos of the incident. Benson and Sonny showed one of the videos to the principal of the school where the incident happened. He then went and got Kian and Marcus, students involved in the incident. Darius, another boy at the scene, was taken in by Finn and Rollins. At the precinct Sonny talked to one of the boys and his mother. Marcus was accused of pushing Avery over the wall but he said Darius was the one who did it. Darius’s mother was called to the station and he was detained. His mother defended him and Benson said she was only there so they could read Darius his rights.

Darius said that he was just talking to Avery, but admitted it was his idea to push the boy away. He said he didn’t mean for him to fall over the bridge.  Avery came to the police station and Darius’s mother apologized to Avery on Darius’s behalf. Sonny asked Rollins what made a boy decide to be a girl. Rollins said sexuality and gender identity are two different things.

Marcus was taken into family court to testify. Kian was called in also. Marcus and Kian got probation for their part in the incident. Darius said he was afraid of Avery and that’s why he pushed him away. Darius’s mother fought to keep him out of jail and Finn said he would do what he could. Darius then gave Finn a letter to give Avery. The letter admitted that Darius was guilty of hurting Avery. The letter said if Darius could get a do over he wouldn’t do it.

Avery had an embolism as a result of the fall and she passed away. It was determined that Darius would be tried as an adult in the death of Avery. Rollins told Darius’s mother that what he did was considered a hate crime.

At Avery’s funeral, her therapist spoke about the people Avery had told her were important to her. She said Avery was inspired by the passion of those around her to accept her for who she was. Avery’s mother told Benson Avery would not have wanted Darius to be tried as an adult for her death. Sonny told the new District Attorney that Avery’s family thought the law was being too hard on Darius.

In court, Sonny testified Avery felt targeted and that she had done nothing to provoke the boys bullying her. Darius’s teacher said Darius was protective of other students who were bullied because he had a little sister. She said Darius had a good heart but may have been confused by a transgendered classmate. His doctor said Darius’s impulse control wasn’t fully evolved and is very active in 15 year old, Darius’s current age. He also said Darius had had very little exposure to anyone transgendered. The doctor said Darius should not be charged as an adult and that he wasn’t discriminating against transgendered people by bullying Avery. Darius said he felt sick to his stomach when he saw Avery fall off the bridge. He said he didn’t want Avery to die and didn’t hate her. He also said he would never forgive himself for her death. Darius said he wanted to talk to and tease Avery. He said Avery told him to leave her alone but he chose to grab her instead. Darius said Avery fell on him and he reacted by pushing her away.

Avery’s dad testified that Darius had given Avery his apology letter with a drawing in it in the style of graphic novels, which Avery loved. He told the judge he and his wife wanted Avery’s death to mean something but wanted to make sure Darius’s family wouldn’t have to deal with the tragedy of having him taken away from them and put in prison. The judge told Darius she was moved by testifying witnesses but that Darius was guilty of second degree manslaughter and a hate crime. He was remanded to a center until he was 18 and then would be transferred to an adult prison for an additional seven years.

Premier League Week 7 Soccer Review 2015

0

premier league week 7 soccer review alexis sanchez 2015The seventh week of the Premier League started with a major upset as Tottenham Hotspur trounced Manchester City 4-1 at White Hart Lane. The Citizens went into the away fixture on the back of five league wins out of six and were widely expected to come home with all three points, but they were taken apart by the Lilywhites and lost their lead at the top of the league standings as a consequence of the reverse.

Heading into week seven, Leicester City were the only unbeaten team in the league, but their proud record came to a halt as they lost 5-2 against a rampant Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez broke his goal scoring duck with a brilliant hat-trick for the Gunners to bag all three points for his side.

Daniel Sturridge made clear his importance for Liverpool as he scored a brace in a 3-2 win over Aston Villa at Anfield. The striker endured a difficult 2014/15 season, but soon showed his prowess with his prolific scoring against the Villans.

Manchester United heaped more misery on bottom dwellers Sunderland as they collected all three points with a 3-0 win over Dick Advocaat’s men, who are still searching for their first win of the season, having lost five and drawn the other two of their first seven league fixtures thus far. The Red Devils took the top spot on the table from cross-town rivals Manchester City as a consequence of the win, while the Black Cats remain rooted to the bottom of the standings.

A goal each from Sadio Mane, Dusan Tadic and summer signing Virgil van Dijk helped Southampton inflict a 3-1 defeat on Garry Monk’s high-flying Swansea City. Ronald Koeman’s men climbed to tenth on the league table, whereas the Swans are now 11th with as many points as the Saints: nine.

Stoke City inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Eddie Howe’s newly promoted Bournemouth and the Britannia Stadium outfit are now out of the relegation zone in 17th. The Cherries occupy 16th.

West Ham United continued their miserable run of form at home as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Upton Park by Alex Neil’s Norwich City. The Hammers have registered away wins over Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, but have only a win over Newcastle United at home, while they have lost to Bournemouth and Leicester City at Upton Park.

Chelsea continued their puzzling start to the season as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Newcastle United at St. James’ Park. The Blues were 2-0 behind and were staring at a defeat until second half substitutes, Willian and Ramires grabbed a goal each to secure a precious point for the reigning league champions.

Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace were 1-0 winners over Watford on Sunday and are now seventh in the league table.

On Monday night, Everton came from two goals down against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns to inflict a 3-2 defeat courtesy of a brace from Belgium international Romelu Lukaku.

Sierra Alston Talks Walking Off SHE’S GOT GAME & Her Eye Candy

You may recognize her as the “classy one” from VH1’s She’s Got Game, but there is more to Sierra Alston than a pretty face and a short lived run on a reality TV Show. The 27-year-old DC native is channeling her energy and newfound fame into passion projects, a health based startup and so much more.

I had the wonderful opportunity to interview Sierra during one of her recent trips to Los Angeles and was truly impressed with her desire to be involved in ventures that you don’t always hear reality TV stars attached to. But then again, she is not your typical run of the mill twenty something looking for a quick “put on.”

“Yes I did make a name for myself but also was a vital part of the show.”

sierra alston with the game 2015 interview

If you are not familiar with She’s Got Game, the show centers around Compton rapper The Game and his quest to find love. Ten of his celebrity friends all chose women that they believed would make a great pick for the 35 year old artist and Sierra was Keyshia Cole’s pick, a woman she calls a close friend.

She admits to having her hesitations about appearing on the show being that she had just gotten out of a long-term relationship but after giving it some thought she decided to become one of ten women vying for Game’s affection.

“I wanted to see what road this could lead down and I knew I wasn’t going to leave empty handed….”

As with most reality TV shows, the display of women is not always in a favorable light, but because Sierra refused to compromise who she was, she became an integral part of the show and earned the reputation on set and with viewers for being classy. And while that she definitely is, Sierra is “no punk” which was clearly seen in one of the major storylines of the show- her “beef” with Pricilla Rainey.

sierra alston images 2015

“Pricilla is an unconventional woman and had her reservation about me from day one.”

Those reservations were beyond evident in the two’s interaction but Sierra maintained her composure.

“I had to be careful how much I compromised to fit in.”

While she did “earn” a date to spend some one on one time with Game, she realized that things weren’t what she expected.

“The Game wasn’t the man that I prepared myself for… I didn’t get what I planned for.”

With the tensions with Pricilla continuing to rise and other aspects behinds the scenes, the thing for Sierra and the cause for her self elimination from the show was the addition of three more girls, one of which she felt was just too young.

“The last straw was the little girl he brought on the show.”

She eliminated herself in episode five and for good reason. Many times during the show Sierra asked Game why he deserved to be with her and ultimately, competing with other women for a man was not her idea of a love connection. Since leaving the show, she has been able to focus on her passions.

“Leaving the show was not the ending of something but rather the beginning.

Sierra has a heart for helping homeless people get back on their feet and is putting her energy into a venture she is very excited about called Alston’s Angels. She believes that people are not homeless because they are bad or addicted to drugs. Sometimes, things happen and there is no support there and individuals just fall by the way side.

Her goal is to start a program where she helps to rehabilitate homeless people who show a desire and initiative to be reacclimated into society. She plans to begin the groundwork in Las Vegas, where she currently resides, at the start of October for a YouTube series focusing on doing just that with the intention of getting other people of influence involved, bringing awareness to a problem that has become a national epidemic in cities everywhere.

Along with her homeless rehabilitation initiative, she is developing her Eye Candy workout course. Focused on building a healthy lifestyle through a sensual dance program, her goal is to grow an Eye Candy workout empire including DVD’s, a You Tube channel and an online virtual course. Sierra also plans to launch a lingerie and fitness apparel line.

sierra alston red carpet movie tv tech geeks interview 2015

As far as finding true love, Sierra is focused on building her brand and managing her current projects, which doesn’t leave much time for romance.

“Right now what I am doing requires a lot of my time.”

And while that may be the case, it doesn’t mean finding Mr. Right is not in her sights.

“I want a man that motivates, empowers and endorses me and is able to help with the business…. He can’t just be arm candy.”

For Sierra life has many roads and though you may not know where they may lead, you have to embrace the journey and learn life’s lessons along the way. Sierra has heart, she has purpose and when it comes to ambition trust and believe, she’s got game.

TOTAL DIVAS 413: John Cena, Cheating & Returning Ex’s

On this season’s finale of “Total Divas,” Paige admitted to Alicia that she lied to her. Paige went on to tell her she doesn’t want to get married yet. Alicia told Paige she has to tell her fiancé that. Paige said that she needs to tell her fiancé in person that she doesn’t want to get married, but he was on tour and she was in Mexico.

Natalya went to the eye doctor because her eyes were getting very sensitive. She found out she might need eye surgery that might prevent her from wrestling. The Bella twins and Daniel Bryan went to a restaurant with the family and ran into Dolph Ziggler, Nikki’s ex-boyfriend. Brie said Nikki wants to get married because she doesn’t know what it’s like to be married. Daniel Bryan accused Nikki of looking at Dolph in a way that means she’s cheating on her boyfriend, John Cena. Brie backed Nikki up when she said she wasn’t flirting with Dolph.

During a match on RAW, TJ suffered a bad injury to the head/neck area. The Big Show asked Paige if she was engaged and she told him the truth. The Big Show told her to take what she could get. Dolph flirted with Nikki and Brie said that made her uncomfortable. At the pool Dolph greeted Nikki and Brie’s mom with a hug. Nikki said John doesn’t want kids and Dolph pointed out that was a huge issue for Nikki and Dolph when they were dating.

Natalya took TJ home and said they had to figure out what the next step in his medical care would be. She said all she cares about is that she has TJ. Brie said Dolph was telling Nikki what she wanted to hear.

At NXT, Eva Marie was set to re-debut. She won her match and the crowd went wild. John Cena and Nikki went to dinner at a fancy restaurant where they talked about how Brie wants to get pregnant and John confronted Nikki on how she felt about that.

Backstage at a house show, Paige’s fiancé showed up to surprise her. She had been planning on breaking off the engagement but she was nervous to do so. She said she had a lot of anxiety and didn’t want to be a grownup right now.

Natalya got a call from her doctor and found out she has to have eye surgery to avoid having one lazy eye. She was conflicted because TJ needed surgery too. Natalya said she honestly didn’t know what to do. She decided to delay her eye surgery so TJ could have the surgery he needs. She said TJ is the love of her life.

Backstage at RAW Dolph ran into the Bella twins and they told him to say hi to his mom from them. Brie told Dolph to stop flirting with Nikki because it was awkward for her. Dolph then said he still had feelings for Nikki and asked to talk to her in private. Nikki said she didn’t want to be disrespectful to John and that she couldn’t handle Dolph saying he still had feelings for her.

THE VOICE 904: Andi, Alex & Adam Levine

the voice 904 recap andi alex images 2015The fourth episode of season 9 of The Voice aired on Monday night (September 29). The judges continued the recruitment process, as the blind auditions carried on for another night. Once again, audiences were graced with the bickering between judges, Carson Daly attempting to seem interested in the backstory of the various performers and of course, a diverse set of auditions.

So, here is the recap of some of the performances (both good and bad) from the night’s episode.

  1. Darius Scott

“You Make Me Wanna” by Usher

Three chairs turned – ended up on Team Pharrell

The first performer of the night kicked things off with a rendition of Usher’s first hit (note: Usher rotates in as a judge on the show every other season). Darius showcased his impressive range with various runs. Although he got three judges to turn their chair, he revealed he pretty much made his mind up before he came – and therefore, Team Pharrell it was!

  1. Korin Bukowski

“Celcilia and the Satellite” by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

One chair turned – ended up on Team Gwen

Of course, this season needed a self-proclaimed “weird” girl. Korin added as much “quirkiness” as possible to her performance and not surprisingly got the attention of Gwen. Gwen noted that she had one of “those rare character” voices. Unfortunately, previous “character” voices on the show have never managed to make it all the way, but that won’t stop Korin from trying.

  1. Krista Hughes

“Angel from Montgomery” by Bonnie Raitt and John Prine

Four chairs turned – ended up on Team Blake

Krista is from a small town in West Virginia, but proved she is ready for the big stage as she did an impressive rendition of “Angel from Montgomery.” She further showcased her musical ability by accompanying her vocals with her guitar. Adam was the first to turn; however the other coaches were soon to follow. Ultimately, the country girl ended up choosing none other than Blake Shelton.

Blake is definitely not short on country artists this season.

  1. Chance Pena

“I See Fire” by Ed Sheeran

One chair turned – ended up on Team Adam

15-year-old Chance Pena may still be in high school, but he already has landed himself countless gigs in local bars and restaurants. Although his vocals and pitch was very precise, he didn’t necessarily bring anything out-of-the-ordinary to the performance. I do like that he choose a more current song, as this is somewhat of a rare occurrence in this season’s blind auditions. Nonetheless, Chance’s audition was enough to impress Adam – which means he earned a spot in the battle rounds.

  1. Viktor Kiraly

“What’s Going On” by Donnie Hathaway

Four chairs turned – ended up on Team Adam

Viktor was a particularly interesting contestant, as he revealed he is pretty much already a star in Hungary, where he has been living for the past 16 years. In Budapest, Viktor won the country’s version of American Idol (known as Megasztar). Viktor’s confidence and experience on the stage is quickly apparent, as all four judges almost immediately turn around. His soulful voice clearly surprises the judges, as Blake blabs out “that guy is white?!” when he sees who was behind the voice.

  1. Cole Criske

Dreaming with a Broken Heart” by John Mayer

Three chairs turned – ended up on Team Blake

Another teenager to hit the stage on Tuesday night was Cole Criske. He was able to showcase his high vocal tone with the John Mayer tune and eventually won over Gwen, Pharrell and Blake. However, Blake reminds him that he coached Xenia in season 1, who is from the same hometown as Cole (Temecula, California) and ends up recruiting Cole to his team.

  1. Alex Kandel

“Bright” by Echosmith

Two chairs turned – ended up on Team Gwen

Yet another singer to hit the stage who has already had ample experience performing. 22-year-old Alex Kandel has already established herself as a musician, as part of the band Sleeper Agent. The band has already put out two albums and has been featured on The Tonight Show and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. However, Alex decided to venture onto the voice to try and make a name for her self as a solo act. Although she seemed a bit nervous, her raspy tone was refreshing and relatively unique.

  1. Andi and Alex

“Thank You” by Dido

Four chairs turned – ended up on Team Adam

Of course to end the night out with a bang, The Voice employs twin sisters Andi and Alex to wrap up the fourth round of blind auditions. The sisters wowed all four of the judges, as they used the Dido song to not only belt out well-rehearsed harmonies, but also to feature their individual voices. They are definitely one of the more memorable acts thus far and admittedly, the fact that they are twins will probably help them stand out from the crowd as well. It will be interesting to see what song Adam will assign them come the battle rounds.

And that rounds out the night. There is only one more round of blind auditions next week (on Monday, October 5). As I previously mentioned, this season contestants seem to be steering away from performing today’s hit songs (i.e. Top 40). While in some cases this is a smart choice, I am anxious to see some of the musicians put their own twist on some more contemporary songs. Most likely we will see this come the battle rounds, when the judges assign the songs.

So with one more round of blind auditions left, how many spots are left on the judges’ teams?

Team Pharrell, Team Adam and Team Blake all have 2 spots open, while Team Gwen has only 1 spot remaining.

Catch the last series of blind auditions next week, Monday October 5, on NBC at 8ET/PT.

Watch Justin Bieber Take On One Direction & Blake Lively Preserve Free

blake lively shutting her preserve down 2015 gossipIt seems that starting a lifestyle brand is the newest trend these days for celebrities (i.e. Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James, Ashley Tisdale’s Haute Mess, etc.). However, Blake Lively decided she would do the opposite, as she announced she will be shutting down her site, Preserve.

The actress started her lifestyle website a little over a year ago, but has decided to end operations as she no longer feels it is something she can be “proud of.” In an interview with Vogue magazine, Blake explained, “It’s very exciting and its also incredibly scary. I never thought I would have the bravery to actually do that, to take the site dark and to say, ‘You know what? I haven’t created something that is as true and impactful as I know it can be and will be. And I’m not going to continue to chase my tail and continue to put a product out there that we, as a team, are not proud of.”

Although Blake believes that the site was never able to successfully fulfil its mission – to connect customers with hard-working, talented artisans – she continues to believe in the concept. She went on to say, “we have an incredible team of people who do beautiful work, but we launched the site before it was ready, and it never caught up to its original mission: It’s not making a difference in people’s lives, whether superficially or in a meaningful way. And that’s the whole reason I started this company, not just to fluff myself, like, ‘I’m a celebrity! People will care what I have to say!’ It was so never meant to be that, and that kind of became the crutch because it was already up and already running, and it’s hard to build a brand when you’re running full steam ahead – how do you catch up?”

Although fans of the site will be disappointed by its unexpected shutdown, they can be excited about the massive sales the site will put up during its final days of operation. Blake intends to give her loyal customers great deals on various items she loves.

In terms of coping with her own disappointment, Blake said, “I’ve asked my assistant to play [Taylor Swift’s] ‘Shake It Off’ on a loop – it feels really good to listen to it on a loop!”

justin bieber takes on one direction release 2015 gossipBoth Justin Bieber and One Direction are known for their incredibly loyal – sometimes crazy – fan bases. Therefore, it quickly became a battle of the pop stars, when Bieber and One Direction announced their album release dates – which happened to both fall on November 13.

Justin took to Snapchat to make it clear that he intends on outselling the boy band. In a comedic clip, the young star was seen saying “the face you make when you come out with an album the same day as Justin Bieber,” and then continued by making a face showing obvious fear.

It is tough to say who will come out on top between the two musical acts. Justin Bieber has not put out a record for 3 years, and many are anticipating his return as he attempts to rebrand himself and rid his “bad boy” image. However, One Direction also has some hype building up around their next album, as it will not only be the first album they release without Zayn Malik, but it will also mark their last release of music before they take a hiatus in March 2016.

Nonetheless, we will have to wait till November 13 to see which pop sensation comes out on top.

Derrick Rose Is Injured Yet Again

0

derrick rose face injury nba 2015Well, Derrick Rose is hurt again. Wow, who could have seen it coming? I know, I know.

Rose caught an elbow to the face Tuesday, and left for tests which revealed an orbital fracture which will require surgery. There isn’t a timetable set for his return yet, but orbital fractures usually aren’t the end of the world. The feeling around the Chicago Bulls camp right now is that he will miss the rest of training camp and such, but he should be good to go October 27th when the Bulls open their season against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

derrick rose played missed games 2015So it looks like everything will be okay this time, but it is just another in the long list of surgeries and aliments that the 2010-2011 NBA MVP has suffered through. In fact, let’s take a trip down injury lane with Derrick:

2011: Things started to go downhill for Rose in January 2011. Rose missed a total of 26 games in 2011 before the playoffs with various toe, back, groin, and ankle injuries. All of them were minor, and he didn’t sit out more than 12 games at once. The Bulls still managed to earn the No. 1 seed, advancing to the playoffs and taking on the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round. That’s when an awkward landing and a torn ACL started the downward, injury-filled spiral of Rose’s career.

derrick rose stats2012: Rumors of Rose’s return swirl up constantly. Nike ran commercials, everyone was on Tweeting #TheReturn or something like that, but he never actually came back. Rose missed every single game in the 2012 calendar year—all 94 of them.

2013: Derrick Rose finally comes back and commits 25 turnovers in his first five games. But we all cut him some slack because he was rusty. Then, after 10 games, Rose tore his meniscus. Another surgery, another year lost.

derrick rose on court off stats2014-2015: Rose missed a few of the Bulls’ early games with ankle sprains and a hamstring strain. He stayed relatively healthy moving forward excluding illness and a sore knee that kept him benched for a few more games. Then February rolled around. Another torn meniscus (the same one, in fact), another surgery, more time lost.

derrick rose per game stats 2015Rose played in the playoffs after more injury problems during the regular season, and things were finally looking up for the superstar.

Fortunately this injury isn’t overly serious. Let’s just hope he doesn’t tear his knee apart on the operating table.

NFL Week 3 Indepth Recap 2015

Week 3 NFL Recap

Bengals 28 Ravens 24
Even a big day from the League’s deadliest old man receiver Steve Smith was not enough to get Baltimore over the hump. Cincinnati had big games from its two best players, Dalton and Green.

AJ Green had maybe his best game ever while Andy Dalton threw for three TDs and ran another one in for six points.

It’s not hard to see Baltimore’s issues so far in 2015. They cannot defend the pass and their offense is dependent on Steve Smith having a big game. If Smith fails to score twice a game, the Ravens will be getting beat by double digits those weeks.

Hope you Ravens fans enjoy your hundred million dollar QB. That leaves little wiggle room going forward for the rest of the team that now finds itself 0-3 with little hope of a playoff appearance.

Eye popping stat of the game: 10 carries, 13 yards for Justin Forsett. He was a nice story last year for Baltimore, but is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry this year.

Fantasy league carnage: Dalton went off for 35 points on DraftKings, but he and AJ Green were great additions to any lineup this past weekend.

Steelers 12 Rams 6

If you needed a nap, this was the game to get it started. The most exciting thing to transpire was Big Ben getting hurt, and that’s certainly no way for Steelers fan to drift off to dreamland. The Steelers’ QB will be out 4-6 weeks with a knee sprain while Mike Vick tries to run the loaded offense.

The good news is that Vick can be the best backup in the NFL. The bad news is he can be the worst the very next start.

The Rams finally got their top draft pick on the field with Todd Gurley seeing some action. It was not much to see to my disappointment as Gurly and Tre Mason combined for just 25 yards between them. The Rams offensive line is woeful and is not building Nick Foles’ confidence any at all.

The Rams defense is doing its job. Holding Pittsburgh to just 12 points is admirable, even without Roethlisberger in most of the second half.

The Steelers did enough to get the win and I imagine that being the theme in most games until Ben makes his way back from the knee injury.

Eye popping stat of the game: LeVeon Bell accounted for 62 yards on the ground and 70 in the air in his first game back from suspension.

Fantasy league carnage: Antonio Brown continues his dominance week by week. He pulled in 11 more catches this week for 108 yards, but failed to score…just like most everyone except Bell and the kickers in this one.

Colts 35  Titans 33

If not for a big fourth quarter the Colts would be 0-3 and coach Chuck Pagono would be really close to losing his gig despite making it to the AFC Title Game last year.

The Titans gave up three touchdowns in the fourth to Luck and company that knocked Tennessee down to 1-2, the same as every team in their division.

The Colts’ biggest issue is the lack of trust between Luck and his O-line. The reason for the trust problem? Luck is great, his line very bad.

Mariota had another good game and is looking like the Rookie of the Year in the NFL although it’s early in the season. His pick six was not his fault and he is one of few rookies ever to throw multiple TDs in his first three games.

Indy is back on the right track and will have an easy game versus the Jags next week to maybe get to .500 after that one.

Eye popping stat of the game: 21 points in the fourth quarter for Indy.

Fantasy league carnage: Not much to brag about in this one. Gore did end up with 20 in standard leagues however.

This was a fun game to watch if you hate San Francisco, are a Cardinals fan, enjoy defensive touchdowns, or like the sound of Jim Harbaugh laughing hysterically in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Is it too late to reverse the Alex Smith for Colin Kaepernick trade? Kaepernick is the worse of the two…without Harbaugh there to hold his hand. Kap threw not one, but two pick sixes on a four INT game. The Arizona defense was tired from all the returns or they may have took all four to the house.

Everything is clicking for Arizona right now. Palmer is playing as well as any QB, Fitzgerald is looking like his old (young) self, and the Honey Badger is a helluva lot of fun to watch ball. As long as Palmer stays upright, this team is a threat to go deep in the playoffs.

Eye popping stat of the game: 9/19 for Colin Kaepernick.

Fantasy league carnage: Larry Fitzgerald beating up fools in the fantasy world. Lots of catches and finding the end zone makes him a must have going forward before his salary rises too much in daily leagues.

Panthers 27   Saints 22

Carolina wins ugly games period. This win over a division rival puts them at 3-0 and drops the Saints to 0-3 and looking for answers.

Brees’ backup Luke McCown had a nice stat line with over 300 yards passing, and a high completion percentage, but threw for zero TDs.

Cam on the other hand accounted for two touchdowns while not nearly as accurate as his counterpart.

Eye popping stat of the game: Olsen’s 11 targets.

Fantasy league carnage: Greg Olsen is a big time scorer again this week at the TE spot in fantasy football. 8 catches, 134 yards, and two trips to the promised land.

Texans 19  Bucs 9

The Texans get their first win by out pacing the Bucs and Jameis Winston. Houston is not going to win many games in which Ryan Mallett is forced to throw near 40 times, but when facing a rookie learning the game on the other side of the field, Mallett was enough to get the “W.”

Houston got a nice game from Alfred Blue who tallied 139 yards and a TD. Arian Foster is still weeks away from a return so it’s on Blue to produce against teams not as bad as Tampa has been so far this year against the run.

Experts are making this game by Winston to be not that bad even with 19 incompletions. He had his bright spots apparently, but it seems to me he should be able to get the ball to Mike Evans at will since the wideout has a size advantage over almost every defensive back he faces.

Eye popping stat of the game: Tampa’s run game, 57 total yards, is doing the rookie QB no favors.

Fantasy league carnage: DeAndre Hopkins had a nice PPR game while Blue got you 19 points in standard leagues.

Patriots 51  Jaguars 17

The Patriots shocked the football world by beating Jacksonville. The Jags appear to be a whipping boy again this year for the really good teams, although the Pats hung 40 on Buffalo too.

Eye popping stat of the game: 400 TDs for Brady…not all in this one game.

Fantasy league carnage: LeGarrette Blount was the best bet in this one as he crossed the goal line three times and ground the game away with a big lead.

Jets 17 Eagles 24

Same old Jets. Positive start to the year then they tank to a team that looked like the bottom of the barrel last week. Of course NY was not going to get five turnovers each game, but they didn’t need that against the struggling Eagles, or should not have needed them I should say.

Sam Bradford played better, but still only ended up with 118 yards passing. Darren Sproles helped Philadelphia’s cause with a huge punt return for a score. And what about the Eagles run game without DeMarcus Murray? Did just fine. Ryan Mathews didn’t have nearly the week two struggles we saw from Murray. Mathews ended the game with 108 yards rushing on 25 attempts.

My guy Brandon Marshall had a nice game from a numbers standpoint, but tried an insane lateral that turned the ball over and led to an Eagles score. He also let a pass go through his hands for a pick later on.

Chris Ivory was a basic no show due to being banged up..thanks a lot from my COC Arbar QB fantasy team.

Eye popping stat of the game: 58 passes for Fitz. That will lead to lots of picks, namely three in this here game.

Fantasy league carnage: Not a wealth of fantasy points here, but the Eagles defense turned in a nice productive game.

Raiders 27 Browns 20

David Carr played another good game. It helps when a young QB has no sacks on him the entire game. Having Latavius Murray go for 139 yards on the ground didn’t hurt either.

The Browns got Josh McCown back this week but he was not as fortunate as Carr. McCown was eaten alive for five sacks.

The Raiders chewed up Cleveland’s porous defense for 469 yards on the way to the win.

Eye popping stat of the game: 314 yards receiving by the Raiders.

Fantasy league carnage: Both Carr and Latavius Murray are good values on DraftKings and both raked in 20 DK points each.

Seahawks 26  Bears 0

This game was a hard watch. John Fox’s super conservative style led to 10 straight punts for the once proud Bears.

Seattle lost Lynch during the game, but Carroll says he should not miss much time with the hammy injury. Jimmy Graham had his best game as a Seahawk, but is still not near the numbers he was hitting as a Saint. Can Pete Carroll not figure out how to use this guy?

Eye popping stat of the game: 10 straight punts by Chicago.

Turning point: Seattle finding their way to the stadium.

Fantasy league carnage: Matt Forte will be a fantasy casualty all year as he tries to tote the load for this anemic Chicago offense.

Vikings 31 Chargers 14

It’s becoming clear how much Teddy Bridgewater needs Adrian Peterson. The young quarterback showed promise at the end of last year and in limited preseason action, but has fallen off when the run game lags.

Good thing for Bridgewater that AP is back to form in 2015. He looks as fast as he ever was and is leading the League in rushing at the moment.

The Chargers had trouble slowing #28 down, giving up 6.3 yards per Peterson carry. The offensive line is not helping matters on the other side of the ball either with Rivers getting sacked four times and the run game not being able to get going.

Eye popping stat of the game: Keenan Allen’s 12 catches for 133 yards and two TDs.

Fantasy league carnage: Allen’s numbers didn’t help get a win for SD, but did help you fantasy owners who had him.

Dolphins 14 Bills 41

Buffalo smacked Miami 27-0 before the Phins knew what happened. Tannehill is not getting paid like an elite QB to throw three picks, but he did just that in this game.

Tyrod Taylor on the other hand turned in a nice performance with three touchdowns on a very efficient 21-29 game.

The Dolphins have a coaching problem that is showing up on a weekly basis. They have the QB and the talent to be winning right now, but it is not happening on the field. To rub things in more in this game Rex Ryan ran Richie Incognito out there as a team captain.

The Bills are going to be fine at running back even if Shady McCoy can’t get over his nagging hamstring. Karlos Williams had a 100 yard game for the Bills and is capable of handling the workload.

Eye popping stat of the game: 12 carries, 110 yards for Karlos Williams

Fantasy league carnage: Rishard Matthews was a nice value play on DraftKings and a good fill in for standard leagues.

Denver 24 Detroit 12

The Denver defense was too much for Detroit who is now 0-3 and punishing its hopeful fans once again.

Manning had a nice game with 324 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Stafford threw two INTs and just one TD.

The Lions rushing game is nowhere to be found as they managed just 28 total yards on the ground.

The Dolphins may not be benefiting form Suh being on their roster yet, but Detroit is feeling the loss.

If Denver can get their running game going, just 41 yards in this game, they would be a tough team to beat down the stretch with the defense so dominant. Manning doesn’t have to try to do too much if everything around him is clicking.

Eye popping stat of the game: Detroit’s awful run total of 28 yards.

Fantasy league carnage: Denver’s defense once again placed in the top few fantasy defenders.

Packers 38  Chiefs 28

Aaron Rodgers had his way with the KC defense and despite the final score, this game was lopsided. The Packers once led 31-7 behind Rodgers’ mastery. He is just too quick, too slick, and simply the best in the game of football.

Alex Smith spent most of the night running for his life especially after Green Bay got a big lead and could focus on rushing the QB. KC finished with some big stats but that came as they were in desperation mode from being so far down.

The Chiefs had no answer for James Jones who continued his resurrected career back in Green Bay. Eddie Lacy turned in a nice performance coming back from his injury, and James Starks got his numbers as he spelled Lacy.

It’s looking like the Patriots and the Packers are the two best teams in the NFL just like last year before their regular season matchup.

Eye popping stat of the game: 5 TDs for Rodgers.

Fantasy league carnage: If you stacked Rodgers and Cobb, you likely made some fantasy money this morning.

Kim Zolciak Gets Boot & Nicki Minaj Gets Family Friendly

kim zolciak forced to withdraw dancing with stars 2015 gossipFor the first time in 21 seasons, Dancing with the Stars has forced a celebrity to withdraw from the show due to injury. Former housewife Kim Zolciak and her professional dancer partner Tony Dovolani were officially disqualified from the show after her doctor advised her not to make the flight out to Los Angeles following her mini-stroke last week.

Host of the show, Tom Bergeron explained that although both Tony and Kim pleaded to remain on the show, the executives ultimately decided to disqualify them, as they would have to go through lawyers and a bunch of bureaucracy if they were to let them stay in the competition (due to the set rules dealing with health-related matters).

Fellow professional dancer Mark Ballas, who is still on the show, discussed the decision. He noted, “If it’s in the contract, it’s in the contract. If it’s in the rules, it’s in the rules. We’ve had people withdraw before, just not in this fashion. What are you going to do? The reality is health and family come first. It’s not easy. Yeah, it’s a fun show, but it’s very physical.”

In contrast, fellow dancer Derek Hough commented more light-heartedly, saying, “If they wanted to have her come back, I’d absolutely be fine with that.”

The announcement of their disqualification was made last night during the show. Kim’s partner Tony was interviewed shortly after, saying, “We didn’t know until Tom announced it. I didn’t know, but when Tom hugged me, I knew right away.”

Kim also took to Twitter after the surprising news. The post read, “[I’m] a winner regardless! I have the most incredible husband (thanks for being my rock) and 6 AMAZING kids! #BringKimandTonyBack”

Kim Zociak, Twitter post:

BIG BANG THEORY 902 Separation Oscillation Recap

big bang theory 902 separation images recap 2015On last night’s episode of “The Big Bang Theory,” Leonard said he couldn’t sleep because Penny was mad at him after less than 24 hours of marriage. Then Penny came to talk to Leonard at his apartment. Sheldon told Penny to make out with a random guy to make up for Leonard having kissed another woman. Then Sheldon grabbed Penny and kissed her. Leonard woke up and realized the whole thing was a dream.

Sheldon and Amy were having a video conversation where she told Sheldon to give her the space she needed. He was contacting her about “Fun with Flags,” their Internet TV show. Amy refused to do the show with Sheldon. At the comic book store, Leonard, Raj and Howard talked about Leonard having kissed another woman.

Sheldon went to Amy’s apartment to give back items of hers he had at his place. She looked through the box of items Sheldon brought to her. Amy then took the box from Sheldon and closed the door on him.

Bernadette made brownies and told Howard she was mad at him. Howard confessed to buying something he shouldn’t have. Bernadette said she was mad at Howard for telling him that Leonard had made out with another woman.

Leonard called about marriage counseling services. Penny then came over and asked Leonard to talk. She apologized for saying she was OK with Leonard kissing another woman when she wasn’t. Penny said she might be overreacting but she didn’t know how to get past the idea that Leonard sees the girl he made out with, every day at work. Sheldon suggested that Penny meet the woman so she would stop being upset.

Penny told Amy and Bernadette that she didn’t think Leonard would ever kiss another woman. Amy said everyone makes mistakes and she said Leonard wasn’t a cheater. She said Leonard is cockier now than he was when they met.

Sheldon filmed a new episode of “Fun with Flags.” He announced he was hosting the show alone because he and Amy broke up. At work the next day Leonard asked Raj and Howard how much marriage counseling costs. The girl Leonard made out with then entered the cafeteria where the guys were sitting. Leonard went to ask the woman if she would talk to Penny for him. Leonard told her he got married and told her they had kissed. She asked why Leonard told Penny. She told him she thought it sounded like he was trying to sabotage his relationship with Penny.

Amy watched Sheldon’s show and could tell Sheldon was taking subtle jabs at her. Leonard told Penny she was right when she said Leonard had been trying to sabotage their wedding by telling her he made out with the other woman. Penny said the way she reacted to it may have caused her to inadvertently sabotage the relationship too. Leonard got on one knee and asked Penny to stay with him. She said yes and they went into the bedroom.

Sheldon gave a wedding gift to Penny and Leonard. He bought them airfare and a hotel to vacation in San Diego, but said he wanted to go with him. Amy then confronted Sheldon on his show where he made the jabs at her. Sheldon then happily said that Amy wants him.

Facebook’s Dislike Dilemma

0

facebooks dislike dilemma 2015

Long have Facebook users been clamoring for a Dislike button. This author is one of them. If there are posts that we like, it’s only natural to dislike some. Not everything on Facebook is likeable. Users have the freedom to post whatever they like including some that are against Facebook’s terms of use, and those posts stay there until admins catch up to them. Some posts are just distasteful, disgusting and some are downright offensive. We can’t exactly like them as that would be sending the wrong signals to everyone else. But we need to show that we do not agree with, nor approve of the post but are helpless to do so. Simply ignoring the post is an invitation for more of the same. Now Facebook has announced that the long sought-after dislike button will be shipped in the near future but has not given the specifics on how it will work. Ever wonder why it has taken so long for Facebook to actually consider it? In a social media environment such as Facebook, implementing a dislike button is not as simple as it seems.

The beauty of the Like button is its ambiguity. We like something or we don’t. We can Like that picture of a beautiful sunset but for someone to Like a picture of a throng of poor Syrian refugees, users need to be crafty to spin the negative to something positive. Turn the picture into a meme saying, ‘Let’s pray or wish these people good fortune.’ That will earn a Like. Displaying the picture plainly without any comment will easily learn a dislike due to the picture’s depressing nature. Perhaps suffering the ambiguity of the Like button may actually be better than what may be ahead should we open a can of worms with the Dislike button.

But first, what are the reasons why people want a dislike button? When we visit our timelines, we are bombarded by dozens of new posts. We like most of them, comment on them but there are times that we don’t like some of them. Many such posts are completely unnecessary only adding to the effort of scrolling status updates. Spam, that’s the word were looking for. Of course, we care for our friends and we want to convey that they’re posting something they shouldn’t that they’re posting things we do not care for or are inadvertently sharing things that shouldn’t be on Facebook at all. Here are some examples of things that social media users do not like.

  • Users who share every meal they eat. Do it once, great for you. Do it twice, yay! Do it thrice, that’s nice. Do it again, your deep dish pizza is making my tuna sandwich lame. And another one, hoping you’ll actually get a triple bypass with that triple-bypass-burger of yours!
  • Incessant game inviters. Sorry but I don’t have the time. I’m way too busy. I don’t play the genre. Thanks but no thanks. No, I have no idea what you did there. I don’t want to know what your score is.
  • Globe-trotters. Not the Harlem team, we love them. It’s folks that share everywhere they go, complete with coordinates. Its fine every once in a while. Good for you. Wow, you’ve been to Disneyworld, Universal Studios, Legoland, San Diego Comic-con, Venice, Paris, the Vatican, atop Mt. Everest, please stop. I can’t even leave New Jersey! This and foodies, kids, is where Facebook envy comes from.
  • Cryptic posters. These are the friends that are irate, upset, depressed or just plain bored that post things they only know about. Not everyone within the circle can catch on and are left guessing. We’re all guilty of this every once in a while. But there are other avenues for this, like Twitter!
  • Yes, everyone needs to make a buck and need our assistance to do so. Again, this is okay every once in a while but not 24/7. Ignoring will only invite more owls from Hogwarts. Click on Like and Hagrid breaks the door.
  • Annoying commenters who comment on everything, like that guy who says hi and how’s your day from across the street who keeps on talking after you’re already past. There are times when these guys comment without knowing what’s going on or rubs you the wrong way. Unfriend? Can’t do that to the poor guy.
  • People who post the same thing over and over. Simple as that. And lastly…
  • Gore-illas, for lack of a better term, people who post gory stuff like road kill, mangled bodies, rotten food, porn, and extreme violence. Four letters: NSFW.

Now, many folks who post the above actually mean well or just really want to share. Some need attention or just want support. But again, not all posts are like-able and just has to stop. The problem now is what would happen when we click on the dislike button. What if the people who shared their feelings, parts of their lives, asking for support take the dislike as an offense? Disliking itself becomes a risk.

Let’s make Dislike anonymous. Now that has the danger of opening someone to bullying. Trolls would come out from under bridges and dislike even the most pleasant of posts. How about commercial users and celebrity pages? An anonymous Dislike button can become weaponized giving competitors an easy way to attack each other. It’s like on YouTube where people now pay to have a video reported or given thumbs down. If a Facebook dislike makes the post become irrelevant, competitors will have a field day driving down their competition’s posts won’t they?

As much as this author would like to have a dislike button because there’s much to dislike such as news of government corruption, Miley Cyrus’ twerking and her VMA costumes, the Fantastic Four reboot, the Kardashians, doomsday posts, a bad episode of your favorite TV show; the Dislike button is a great risk.

By announcing that one is in the works, maybe Facebook has taken everything in consideration and made the necessary measures to avoid abuse. Otherwise, Facebook users will have to find a way to dislike the dislike button.
