Cosmo Kardashian Troubles & STEVE JOBS Film Hit List

cosmo kardashian troubles 2015 gossipCosmopolitan magazine has gotten itself into hot water with the release of its 50th anniversary issue, which features the 5 Kardashian/Jenner sisters and their mother, Kris Jenner.

For the first time in over 4 years, the sisters and their momager are seen together on the magazine cover, donning casual button-up white shirts.

Surprisingly it’s not the girls themselves who are causing the controversy; it was Cosmo’s decision to title them “America’s First Family” that has caused uproar. Unfortunately, much of the public took offence to the magazine’s comparison of the reality TV family to the Obamas. People are criticizing the magazine’s editors for equating a family who are building an empire based on a realty show to a family that is responsible for running the United States of America.

Some of critics took to Twitter to address the magazine’s poor choice of words. With comments including:

“Sorry Cosmo, there’s only one First Family of America & it ain’t the Kardashians. #CosmoFail” – @EricWolfson

And

“The Kardashians being “America’s First Family?” #BISHWHERE???  #ThatJustHurtMyFeelings” – @Luvvie

Critics, Twitter Posts:

After the public’s outrage became apparent, E! News tried reaching out to Cosmopolitan magazine to get their comment on the matter, however they have yet to respond.

michael fassbinder is steve jobs biopic images 2015As the premiere of the new Steve Jobs biopic, Steve Jobs, is approaching it isn’t surprising that many are comparing it to the 2013 Steve-inspired movie, Jobs. The 2013 film that was based on Apple’s infamous co-founder starred Ashton Kutcher, but unfortunately was not well received by both critics and audiences.

The new movie stars Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs and the early reviews of the film have been notably positive.

While Michael was promoting the movie at the New York Film Festival on Sunday, he couldn’t help but joke about Ashton’s failed attempt at bringing Steve to life on the screen. During an interview, Michael was asked how he prepared for the role, in which Michael quipped back, “I studied Ashton Kutcher.”

Michael has reason to be confident in his new movie, as it is already receiving Oscar buzz. The actor previously commented on the positive feedback the movie is getting, saying “it makes [him] feel good.”

Ashton has not responded to Michael’s comment. However, it seems as Kutcher has moved on from his failed movie, as he was recently seen as a guest shark on ABC’s Shark Tank.

Steve Jobs hits theatres on October 9, 2015. In addition to Fassbender, the movie also stars Kate Winslet, Jeff Daniels and Seth Rogen.

Like with most movies, the behind the scenes drama was just as intense as what’s onscreen. It appears that Jobs’ widow, Laurene Powell, worked hard to kill the film. This is something that happens more often than you know, and it’s usually when someone is afraid that they’ll be portrayed as more truthful than they want. Funny enough, the people trying to kill the film have yet to see, so they are working on some psychic ability.

The WSJ reports that she pressed Sony Pictures Entertainment, which originally backed the film, and then Universal Pictures, which now owns the rights.

Longtime Apple board member and Jobs’ friend, Bill Campbell, also criticized the film, as did Apple chief executive Tim Cook, in an appearance on a late-night talk show.

One problem is that the move is based on the immensely popular, but highly critical, biography by Walter Isaacson that Jobs enlisted him to write. Over the past year, Apple insiders have made their objections to the book abundantly clear.

The WSJ quotes an email from producer Scott Rudin in which he says that Laurene Jobs “continued to say how much she disliked the book, and that any movie based on the book could not possibly be accurate.”

It probably doesn’t help that the script was written by Aaron Sorkin, who gleefully twisted the backstory of Facebook cofounder Mark Zuckerberg a few years ago when he penned the script for The Social Network.

Director Danny Boyle didn’t allay anyone’s fears when he told the WSJ that the movie is intended to be “impressionistic.”

“The truth is not necessarily in the facts, it’s in the feel,” Boyle told the WSJ, implying exactly what Jobs’s supporters fear most: A fact-free film that hammers on Jobs’ worst tendencies and defines his legacy for years to come.

Apple insiders had hoped to mount a counter-campaign to protect Jobs’ legend with a new biography released earlier this year. Becoming Steve Jobs, written by journalists Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli, was well-reviewed and is a best seller in its own right, but has not matched the monster success of Isaacson’s book.

However, any momentum that effort might have gained ran right into the ugliness of the first official trailer, released over the summer, which showed Jobs in full jerk mode. Starring Michael Fassbender as Jobs and Seth Rogen as Wozniak, every frame of the two-minute trailer portrays an arrogant, smug Jobs.

With the critical reception being so high, it’s doubtful that the Steve Jobs biopic will flop at the box office or just fade away. Much like the Apple founder, this film is a treasure to be seen and will probably be seen by many. Who wants a hero who isn’t realistic anyway? It gives us hope that many of us in the audience could learn some lessons from Jobs on his chaotic journey through life.

2015 Outlandish NFL Record Predictions

0

2015 outlandish nfl record 2015 imagesThe New England Patriots topped the Pittsburgh Steelers on NFL’s opening Thursday Night, kicking things off three weeks ago, so I guess I can’t wait much longer to give my updated predictions with injuries, trades, and additional information in mind. So, without further ado, here are my ridiculous and outlandish (and probably a lil’ bias) team-by-team record predictions for each NFL franchise:

AFC NORTH

Pittsburgh Steelers, 11-5: When Le’Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant come back, that offense is going to be scary.

Baltimore Ravens, 10-6: They’ll find a way. John Harbaugh always does.

Cincinnati Bengals, 10-6: Not like it’ll matter come playoff time.

Cleveland Browns, 4-12: I really want Johnny Manziel to do well, but he’ll be lucky to start. Bye bye Mike Pettine.

AFC SOUTH

Indianapolis Colts, 11-5: You don’t need defense to beat the Titans and Jags twice a year. As long as Andrew Luck can split the difference with Houston, they’ll be just fine atop this division.

Houston Texans, 10-6: I really want to say they’ll win the division, but I’m not sure I trust the offense enough. Let’s see how Bryan Hoyer holds up and how quickly Arian Foster can get back.

Tennessee Titans, 4-12: Sorry Marcus, not a big fan.

Jacksonville Jaguars, 2-14: What else is new?

AFC EAST

New England Patriots, 12-4: Gronk, Edelman, and an even more improved offensive line makes for a scary team.

Miami Dolphins, 9-7: Ndamukong Suh makes this a top-10 defense, Ryan Tannehill is coming along, and suddenly things look okay in Miami.

Buffalo Bills, 9-7: Love the defense, but Tyrod Taylor just doesn’t make for a good offense.

New York Jets, 6-10: Once again, loving the defense here. The offense on the other hand is worse off than Geno’s jaw.

AFC WEST

Denver Broncos, 13-3: Peyton. Manning. And then C.J. Anderson in the new-look run offense. This best record comes with the assumptions that Wade Phillips does something which Jack Del Rio apparently couldn’t do—coach a talented defense.

Kansas City Chiefs, 9-7: This is still a good team, and once Peyton retires they should have no problem jumping to the top of the division.

San Diego Chargers, 7-9: I just don’t trust Philip Rivers to…well, not suck. Who knows, maybe he’ll prove me wrong.

Oakland Raiders, 5-11: Amari Cooper and Derek Carr will be cool, but it’s still the Raiders.

NFC NORTH

Green Bay Packers, 12-4: The loss of Jordy Nelson hurts, but this receiving corps is absolutely stacked. And Eddie Lacy. So yeah, they’ll be fine.

Minnesota Vikings, 10-6: I’m really excited to see Adrian Peterson and Teddy Bridgewater on the field together. So excited in fact that I just put them down as winning 10 games. Whoops.

Detroit Lions, 8-8: No matter how much talent they have, they always manage to screw everything up. With all the defensive losses, things definitely won’t get any better.

Chicago Bears, 3-13: I don’t like John Fox. Or Jay Cutler. Especially Jay Cutler.

NFC SOUTH

New Orleans Saints, 9-7: As long as C.J. Spiller actually comes back this year. Drew Brees looks 2009-esque right now.

Carolina Panthers, 8-8: Kelvin Benjamin is a pretty big loss. Let’s see how Devin Funchess can step in.

Atlanta Falcons, 5-11: Bouncing back from the 32nd overall defense isn’t an easy process.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 5-11: At least you did better than Mariota, right Jameis?

NFC EAST

Philadelphia Eagles, 10-6: This comes with a huge assumption: Sam Bradford stays healthy.

New York Giants, 9-7: Say what you want about Eli, I still believe he can do it.

Dallas Cowboys, 8-8: Unless Darren McFadden goes Arkansas on the Giants Sunday Night, I’m sticking with mediocrity in Dallas.

Washington Redskins, 4-12: Once again, what else is new?

NFC WEST

Seattle Seahawks, 11-5: Defense still wins championships, but if the offense plays like it did preseason then the Cardinals will quickly jump to the throne in the West.

Arizona Cardinals, 9-7: Great defense and everything, but they just can’t get over the wall of the Seahawks.

St. Louis Rams, 9-7: Great defense, extremely tough division. At least they aren’t last this season.

San Francisco 49ers, 6-10: With all the defensive loss and without Jim Harbaugh, 6-10 is probably a bit generous.

Daniel Radcliffe’s THE GAME CHANGERS Latest Trailer Hits

0

the game changers trailer danielle radcliffe 2015BBC has released a short trailer for their upcoming movie, The Gamechangers, and it’s safe to say I am definitely anticipating the release of this movie.

The movie is a docu-drama, which tells the story of Rockstar president Sam Houser. Houser’s company created the widely successful video game Grand Theft Auto. The movie follows Houser through the game’s development and when it faced public scrutiny about its portrayal of violence in 2002. The Gamechangers will also showcase the famous lawsuit filed by Jack Thompson, as he campaigned against the controversial game.

Although BBC continues to hype the movies release in mid-September, Rockstar continues to claim that they will be filing a lawsuit against BBC over the use of its trademark. Rockstar remains adamant that they had no involvement with the film and gave no approval to BBC for the use of the story.

Daniel Radcliffe stars as Sam Houser in the movie, alongside Bill Paxton as former attorney Jack Thompson.

The short trailer gives just a glimpse into the premise of the film. It showcases the tension there was between Sam, a young Brit and Jack, a devoted American, Christian attorney. The trailer shows Jack saying, “These recent revelations demonstrate what little regard these Brits have for the welfare of our children,” as headlines are shown that connect a teen’s homicide charges to the influence of Grand Theft Auto.

The trailer also gives a sneak peak into the development behind the game, as Radcliffe (as Sam Houser) is heard saying, “this is beyond what film can do. We are going to create the first truly adaptable hero.” Sam constructed a team of friends that would help him create a virtual world, filled with criminals, lethal weapons and dangerous storylines. The game allows players to immerse into the underworld of crime and theft, where killing cops, hijacking cars and running over pedestrians are all part of the fun. Ultimately, the game he creates will become the fastest selling video game of all time.

However, after its release it is the same “fun” elements of the game that sparked massive public outrage. Parents, politicians and law enforcement began speaking out as opposition to the game, as they feared the real-world impacts that Sam’s game was potentially creating.

Nonetheless, Grand Theft Auto continues to be one of the biggest forces in the video game industry. In Fall 2013, the fifth installment of the game series earned approximately $1 billion in just 3 days.

Seeing Daniel Radcliffe donning a scruffy beard as he embodies a seemingly darker character in this film is interesting. He has come a far way from his days as young wizard, Harry Potter. From his impressive work in his more recent movies like The Woman in Black, I think he is a perfect candidate for this role.  I think he has shown that he has the ability to portray more intense characters, while still being new enough to this type of movie that it still keeps audiences curious to see how he embraces the character.

Not to mention, it always helps marketing when there is some form of controversy surrounding the film. Therefore, the fact that there is this big impending lawsuit coming from Rockstar creates an even bigger draw-in for this movie.

I think BBC was smart to choose such a widely known game to be the basis for the film, especially since there seems to be an interesting story behind its creation and development. The trailer shows that the film takes a dramatic twist to the complexities that followed Rockstar’s game. In addition, it will be interesting to see how each side is portrayed. I am left wondering whether I will end up siding with Sam Houser, the innovative game designer, or Jack Thompson, an advocate for those worried about the harmful impacts of GTA.

The movie was released in the U.K. on September 15. However, there has been no official date set for its release in the United States.

Here’s hoping that Netflix can get its hands on the movie rights!

WHERE TO INVADE NEXT Brings Michael Moore Back

0

where to invade next brings Michael Moore backAcademy-award winning director Michael Moore is back. This time he is bringing audiences a more light-hearted film called Where to Invade Next. The film’s basic premise is that Michael is “invading” other nations to see what America can learn from them and therefore, better itself.

Michael is best known for such films as Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11, where he never strayed away from telling what he believed to be the honest truth, no matter how much controversy his claims made. Despite having his fair share of critics, Michael’s films repeatedly performed well in the box office – with Fahrenheit 9/11 being the highest grossing documentary in history.

However, it has been six years since Michael has released a film and he has decided to make his return with a notably different approach. Where to Invade Next seems to be a much more humorous and fun project relative to his previous work. Although Michael still manages to get his digs in, as he plays up the fact the United States has invaded countless countries to yield unimpressive results.

In this film, Michael tells the Pentagon to “stand down,” as he takes it upon himself to do the “invading” for America. Michael takes this opportunity to actually show that “invading” countries can be constructive, beneficial and most importantly “without casualties.” The infamous film-director embarks on a journey to numerous countries, to see what ideas, innovations or cultural norms could be potentially useful to bring back to America. By listening and learning from a diverse range of people, Michael seemingly brings together a world that is often perceived to be at odds nowadays.

Various hot topics are covered in the film, ranging from the benefits of female leadership to the prison system. In addition, Michael’s global ventures enable him to compare European countries’ healthcare systems, gun control and education to the way such infrastructures are run in the United States.

Many of the studio executives behind the film noted that Where to Invade Next was a much more “uplifting” take on discussing relevant and important issues. Nonetheless, Moore ensures that he still includes various topics that should be considered and talked about, and not simply swept under the rug.

The film was initially premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. However, it has recently been sold to a distributor and will be released in theatres later this year. The distribution team commented on acquiring Michael’s latest film, saying, “Together with Michael Moore and his extraordinary new film we hope to remind Americans they have the inalienable right to laugh, especially in an election year. We’re thrilled about our new label and can’t think of a better film or filmmaker to launch with.”

From the trailer, it definitely seems like Moore believed a more light and humorous approach is the way to get people to listen and become informed about prevalent issues. He embraces his comedic flare, as he entertains new cultures and tries to expose how we as a world can learn from each other. It is nice to see a different side of the filmmaker, however, I am unsure whether this film will garner as much attention as his previous films, as it evidently lacks the controversial hype.

Nonetheless, the fact that its release is set for this winter (just before the US presidential primary), leads me to believe it will peak the interest of those wanting to become informed in some way for the impending election – even if its from sitting in a movie theatre.

The film premiered in America at the New York Film Festival on Oct 2, but unfortunately the general public will have to wait till December for its theatrical release.

La Liga Week 7 Soccer Review 2015

0

la liga week 7 soccer barcelona vs sevilla 2015Celta Vigo, who recently wrecked reigning Spanish and European champions Barcelona in a league clash, were held to a stalemate by Madrid outfit Getafe at Balaidos and slipped to third in the league standings as a consequence.

Barcelona travelled to the Estadio Roman Sanchez Pizjuan to take on Sevilla and struggled to assert any kind of control in midfield without the presence of Andres Iniesta. They managed to hold onto a 0-0 scoreline going into the half time break. But the hosts started the second half brightly and took the lead through Michael Krohn-Dehli, the Dane later turned provider for Vicente Iborra as Sevilla looked to gain all three points against the Catalan giants.

The visitors pulled one back courtesy of a spot kick converted by Neymar, but they couldn’t find an equalising goal and had to settle without a point from the encounter. Barcelona hit the post three times through the course of the match and felt the absence of club stalwart Lionel Messi, who is nursing an injury and will not be available until the end of November. It remains to be seen how the Catalans cope with the absence of the Argentina national team skipper.

Granada and Deportivo La Coruna played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Barcelona loanee Alan Halilovic put Sporting Gijon ahead in the tenth minute of their encounter against Espanyol, who drew level courtesy of a goal from Felipe Caicedo in the second half. However, an Alex Menende strike deep in the added time gave Gijon all three points at El Prat.

Tiny Eibar handed a 2-0 defeat to newly-promoted Las Palmas and moved to seventh as consequence of the three points they earned.

Charles scored a hat-trick for Malaga against David Moyes’ Real Sociedad at the Rosaleda to give his side a 3-1 victory. The defeat sees La Real in 16th spot in the standings as they have only a win from their first seven encounters. Their wretched form has put pressure on former Manchester United manager Moyes, who is now in danger of losing his job, if things do not improve in the coming weeks.

A strike in each half from Heiko Westermann and Ruben Castro gave all three points to Real Betis against Rayo Vallecano. The Sevillistas are now eighth in the table.

Athletic Bilbao inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Valencia at the San Mames to heap misery on Nuno Espirito Santo’s side and increase pressure on him as he struggles to keep his job at the Mestalla.

Deyverson struck a late winner against league leaders Villarreal to inflict a 1-0 defeat on the side. However, Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side managed to stay atop the table at the conclusion of seventh round of fixtures.

Real Madrid went to Atletico Madrid and came away with a 1-1 draw, thereby losing the chance to go atop the league standings.

Los Blancos started brightly as they went ahead early courtesy of a Karim Benzema strike; however, the hosts grew into the game and may well have sealed all three points had it not been for the heroics of Keylor Navas.

Zune, Will You be Missed?

0

zune will you be missed microsoft tech 2015zune will you be missed microsoft tech 2015Just like the Windows phones, Microsoft’s Zune music players were well-received by those who took a chance at it. On the device level, it was just as easy to use as the iPod with a few features that iPod users would like and laugh at. On the client software level, it was just as comparable as iTunes though anything would probably be more intuitive than iTunes. Unfortunately, the Zune failed to catch on or failed to reach its target market that Microsoft can no longer support it. Microsoft will be pulling the plug soon on the Zune services which continued long after they stopped producing the music player itself. Zune was the best iPod/iTunes alternative back then before smartphones took over everyone’s lives. But it didn’t reach a level of popularity that other music services like Spotify eventually overtook it. Where did Microsoft go wrong and why couldn’t they learn from their mistakes?

When the iPod was first released, it changed the market for portable music players and quickly overshadowed those that came before it. Having a thousand songs in your pocket can really change the game. It was portable, gorgeous and easy to use. It made the Sony Walkman and those like it extinct and Apple quickly dethroned Sony’s position in the portable music business. It wasn’t long before the competition rolled out their own music players and one of them was of course Microsoft. The company released the Zune music player which it subcontracted from Toshiba and with it, in true Microsoft fashion, rolled out its own ecosystem, the Zune Marketplace around the player.

Zune players were quite elegant except for those strange brown ones which unfortunately became the butt of toilet jokes. The screens and interface were quite smooth and the headphone sounds were on par with the iPod. The last major release, the Zune HD was a direct competitor to the iPod Touch sports an elegant interface highly influenced by Microsoft’s Metro design. The Zune software was much easier to use than Apple’s iTunes. The Zune also featured wireless synch and sharing.

Unfortunately for the Zune, it was released on an extremely biased market. The iPod became as much a phenomenon as when Sony first released the Walkman. The iPod proved to be so popular that Apple competitors, including Sony and Microsoft had to split the market of those who cannot afford to buy into Apple’s products and services as well as those who are biased against Apple. That market got smaller as Apple released cheaper iterations of the iPod. Me-too products aren’t often received well in the first place. But it’s either release something or bow down to the monopoly. Something Microsoft isn’t known for.

Zune also relied on a subscription model which is not welcome to many people, as it would only add to bills they have to bother with. But there are plenty of features in the subscription model that’s not available on iTunes such as the 10 free tracks per month. The Zune services also include the ability to quickly purchase any track the user happens to like while listening to FM radio if it’s available on the Zune Marketplace. Artist data and discography can also browsed by the listener and songs can also be selected and purchased from the discography. Songs can also be shared or “squirted” to other Zune users. The player can be used like any other portable media player without the subscription but all the perks and advantages are gone when the user opts out. Also, many of the features the Zune subscription model has are limited within the United States.

The name. Zune doesn’t register as well as iPod. What exactly is Zune anyway? Zone or mZone would have been better. Microsoft has always had problems with branding products. The “squirting” term used by Zune users in sharing music is currently highly sexualized but since there’s not many users in one place, it’s probably rarely used without a few chuckles.

Unlike the iPod Touch, which is basically the smallest iPad, the Zune is more focused on music and video consumption. Not many apps have been developed for the Zune unlike the huge number of apps for Apple devices. But the Zune’s focus on music is its own advantage. Zune buyers are fully aware that the device would be used for music in the first place.

Microsoft has also failed the Zune brand in terms of marketing. The player wasn’t marketed enough or in such a way as to compete with Apple. Windows Phone and Windows Surface RT suffered the same problem. Either Microsoft’s marketing budget is too small or talent just isn’t there. The few Windows Phone commercials were quite amusing though so it may be more of a budget and attention issue for the company, or perhaps leadership.

Microsoft has had several innovative products that have been killed off before emerging from a pupa state. It’s amazing that Zune has lasted as long as it has. And Microsoft just keeps on going. One theory is that Microsoft is too big to fail. If it fails on a project such as Windows RT, Windows Phone or Zune, it can simply write off its defeat and start again. But what happens if its other cash cows such as Windows, Office and Xbox lose their audience?

Hopefully under new management, Microsoft would be more successful on its other endeavors just like it has with the Surface tablet line. Its new Lumia phones and Hololens projects show promise. Apple seems to be lacking on innovation lately and it may be time for Microsoft to step back in. Hopefully, it doesn’t squander the chance. RIP Zune.

CSI: CYBER Why-Fi Malware Doll Recap

On this week’s season premiere of “CSI: Cyber,”Ted Danson debuted as Avery’s new FBI partner. He showed her cyber roaches that she could purchase. They then raced their electronic roaches through an obstacle course. Daniel Krumit inspected a shattered cell phone. The next morning he woke up at FBI headquarters and went to brush his teeth. He was thinking about his sister’s court trial for murdering her stalker. Nelson told Daniel that everyone was worried about him.

Daniel told the team he has accessed the database on the shattered phone and found the phone owner’s blood in the phone. The man was a victim of a home burglar. Daniel said the man’s home security system was hacked. The team determined someone hacked into the man’s P-Tech alarm system. They gave orders to get in touch with P-Tech Alarm company to let them know about the hack.

At the house that was broken into Avery said to grab the computer and other electronics to help them figure out what happened. She asked why the person hacked into the house’s alarm system just to commit petty larceny. They found an automatic vacuum cleaner in the house and tried it. It worked for 48 minutes before it stopped. This helped them determine that there had been a victim killed during the break in but they needed to figure out who.

The team got DNA from the blood they found on the cell phone. Daniel recovered a text message that gave them a background on the victim who was killed during the break in. They determined a young child was in the house when someone was killed. After arriving at the house they found the little girl, Ray, hiding in a bedroom closet. The little girl asked Avery where her daddy was. She told Avery daddy told her to hide if she ever saw someone strange in the house. Avery brought the little girl to the station and said her mommy said Avery could ask her questions. The little girl had a talking doll named Marla with her that she told Avery was shy. Avery asked the little girl how long she had been hiding in the closet.

They confirmed multiple P-Tech security breaches recently. The system was shut down and no one knew who did it. Avery asked Ray why the window of her dad’s house was unlocked. Ray said she was going to a slumber party where Marla couldn’t come with her, so Marla asked Ray to leave the window unlocked so she could go out and play. Nelson determined that a video game console in the house caught the last 20 minutes of the victim’s life on camera. The man had been playing an instructional golf game right before he was attached and killed, allowing the team to watch video of the scuffle. They determined they had to find the golf club used in the murder.

Daniel told Avery he would have to go to court that day to testify in his sister’s defense at her murder trial. Daniel said when their parents were murdered his sister became like a mother to him and finished raising him. Avery told him his parents were watching him and were proud of him.

Daniel got the location of the murdered from analyzing the video they had of the incident. They found the golf club used in the murder as well as the body of a dead man.

Ray’s baby doll was studied by the team to determine it had been connected to the Internet and somehow the hacker had gotten the baby doll to get Ray to leave the window in the house unlocked. This was how the killer got in to murder Ray’s father.

The team got a lead on the identity of the hacker/murdered and Elijiah went to investigate.

In court Daniel testified in his sister’s defense. His testimony was to help prove that the man his sister murdered had been stalking him. The prosecutor stated that Daniel’s sister was the one stalking the man, not the one being stalked. After the truth came out, his sister told Daniel to forget about her and just be happy.

Elijiah found two cell phones involved in the case. Nelson determined that he knew what the man had typed on the keyboard of his laptop right before the murder. They got the email address of the hacker and went to confront him. They caught the man and Elijiah arrested him. The hacker said all he did was  discover flaws in their system.

Ray was reunited with her mom at the FBI headquarters. Elijiah took his aggression over the case out on his punching bag. He then went to a local bar to drink the stress away from having found out his dad was diagnosed with cancer but had refused treatment.

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD 106: Good Man Finale Recap

fear the walking dead final good man 2015 imagesDarkness was a great opening for the finale of the first season of Fear the Walking Dead. The city was without light except for random spots and of course a few fires. We see Travis and crew making the right choice to get the hell out of the gated subdivision. As they drive freely through the abandoned military checkpoint, they are headed into more danger even though they are out from under martial law.

The finale is full of characters being more true to their nature. Daniel wants to kill off the soldier he has already tortured for intel, but Travis saves him and eventually frees the guy. Sales guy Victor Strand is cool with leaving behind other prisoners as he and Nick make their escape.

And there’s Daniel, the pied piper of the dead. This iceman cooly walks up to the military compound leading the walkers he set free from the arena . Great plan with the only weapon at his disposal. Travis would never try such a stunt…too cautious. Daniel plans to save his family by any means necessary.

Daniel is super pissed that Travis freed the prisoner and tells him, “See what the right thing gets you.”

It was interesting to see the teenagers, Alicia and Chris still being coddled as they were told to wait in the car while the adults headed into the compound to retrieve Nick and Liza. That’s a sharp contrast when compared to Carl in the original WD series. The coddling doesn’t help though since they get carjacked by a few military guys and Chris gets KO’d for his trouble.

If I were flying a giant chopper I would not land if I knew there were thousands of infected at the gates. That’s exactly what happened as Dr. Ezner saw the pilot turn the helicopter around and head to safety. You could see the loss of hope written all over her face. There was no hope for those she was caring for that could not move on their own. I had a feeling the cattle executioner was going to come into play.

Liza had her chance to get on a truck that was headed out, but chose to stay so she could join up with her family. The scene around her was awful though and I wonder how long she will live to regret that decision.

Maddie can’t be talked out of freeing as many prisoners as she can with her handy bolt cutters. She and the rest of the tribe search for Nick and Liza, while Nick and Strand are looking for a way out themselves. Strand is just evil or very conservative with his bullets. He chooses not to mercifully cap the army leader (soon to be walker) who was going to be his ride out of this hell hole.

Lucky for Strand and Nick, Liza chose to hang around since she swiped the doors open to save these two from an onslaught of cantankerous zombies.

The kitchen scene was as good as any chaotic moment from the original Walking Dead series. Bolt cutters to the head, near bites, and flickering lights made this one hell of a scary few minutes. Watching Daniel’s face as Liza told him about his wife was tough. All that effort and she was already dead.

Once the group finds Dr. Exner, they see the carnage of a hopeless saver of lives who had no choice in her treatment of the patients. The good doc tells them how to get out of the facility, but says, “There’s nowhere to go.” We then see her holding the cattle killer, and we know she offed herself without ever seeing it on the screen.

Maybe the most memorable scene came when Travis and company found their way outside to see the bulldozers in front of mounds of burnt human remains. Ofelia and Daniel got visual confirmation of the death of Mrs. Salazar upon seeing the footless skeleton.

Being “The Good Man” came back to bite Travis when the soldier he freed popped up as they were about to head away in their remaining vehicles. Andrew was pretty upset about the mutilation and all so he goes ahead and shoots his torturer’s daughter! That prompted a Grimes style moment of rage when Travis attacked the soldier and beats his face in like a caveman on meth.

Luckily Ofelia isn’t killed and she will live through the wound according to Liza. The trip to Strand’s home gives us a daytime view of the jacked up city that used to house civilized humans. How quickly it all fell apart.

I don’t know what a real world apocalypse would look like, but I think the speed of the collapse would be the same as in Fear.

Victor Strand is a balling salesman. I don’t know what he sells, but it has made him filthy rich. His home is equipped with generators and is completely intact. I wonder if his business had something to do with the virus that is now turning the world into Zombieland. I’m guessing he is in the pharmaceutical industry, but who knows, maybe it doesn’t turn out to be relevant.

Strand does tell Nick that he must stay in constant motion so they can’t stay there. Seems crazy. If I’m in the tribe, I’m staying put. His home is the nicest place they have seen in quite a while.

Turns out that Abigail is Strand’s yacht. A big boat is a great option in this situation. They could fish for their food, zombies can’t swim, and boats are just cool. Why the boat is not docked is a mystery and I don’t know how Strand plans to get to it.

Finding out Liza has been bitten is no big shock as we have seen this with other characters who find out they will be infected after a dust up with walkers. I did like her character. She was not a nurse officially, but she was a huge help in such a fucked up situation. Asking her ex-husband’s new lady to off her was intriguing in a messed up way.

It ended up being Travis who had to pull the trigger though. I imagined all the thoughts running through their heads as he was about to end the life of the woman he he had married and with whom he had created another human life. All the regrets, the memories of love, the birth of a child, the possibilities, and then….BOOM!

It’s a good thing Travis had his replacement lady at the ready. Maddie comforted her man who just whacked the woman she would not have tolerated had the world not slipped into a zombie hell. So much for my tender moment.

The episode wrapped up with Liza’s death and a shot moving out into the ocean.

The finale was pretty great I must say, even though I watched it from a spotty internet connection due to some downed trees in my neighborhood. No internet, and no TV service is pretty close to a Walking Dead situation for me! I was hoping I wouldn’t have to kill any sick looking neighbors with a set of bolt cutters before I got this recap finished.

I liked the finale’s look in contrast to the original series’ look. Seeing civilization just a few weeks after its demise is different than the almost abandoned look that Rick Grimes sees long after society’s burial.

I’m stoked for next week’s return of the original, which is just what AMC wanted. I don’t know how many seasons they can get out of FEAR before it overlaps too much with WD, but it is a good way to fill time in between seasons on both shows now.

Kardashian Cosmo & Empire Egos For Taraji Henson

It’s Monday people and oh the stuff that is going on. Cosmopolitan obviously is just raking in some coins by claiming that the Kardashian clan are America’s first family, Lil Wayne is spilling the tea all over Birdman and Cash Money. Not surprising after rumors swirled about Mariah Carey issues on the “Empire” set, now word comes that Taraji Henson isn’t too happy with Terrance Howard so Cookie & Lucious are becoming all too real for Lee Daniels.

kardashian cosmopolitan cover offending first family 2015 gossipDear Cosmopolitan Magazine: Kardashians/Jenner NOT America’s First Family

How Joanna Coles, editor in chief of Cosmopolitan, allowed this disrespectful cover to happen is beyond me. Right there on the front of their November issue is a picture of the Kardashian/Jenner women with the caption “America’s First Family.”

Now when I read this I was taken aback and had to reread it. Who the hell do they think they are? How can the people at Cosmo have the audacity to print this? The Kardashians/Jenners are not my first family.

Their attention whoring ways and over indulgent behaviors are the very reason so many people just can’t get with them. They glorify everything that is wrong with our culture and society and are horrible examples of what it really means to be a self respecting women.

I think the thing that really makes me upset here too is that they aren’t going to request it be changed or at lease protest or anything of that nature. I mean, let’s be honest here, they have a lot of pull.

I don’t care that this is their first cover together in 4 years. I don’t care that they are rich and famous (for all the wrong reasons). I don’t care how successful they are. They are not doing anything to give back to this country or the world so why are they being honored with such a lofty title?

It is scary how wrong Cosmo got this one and it is a very telling situation. They are not going to rename it and probably did it on purpose to get more attention. But this shock and awe cover is just shockingly awful.

lil wayne spills on birdman cash money 2015 gossipLil Wayne Spills the Beans On Birdman and Cash Money

Lil Wayne is not holding back with the label that he once happily called home. He and Birdman have been in a fight over money and the release of his newest album (which hasn’t happened yet) and now the NOLA Rapper is saying that he’s not the only one who got screwed by Cash Money Records.

According to Weezy, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga have all been done dirty by Birdman. He alleges to have letters from Drake and Tyga’s people who claim they were cheated out of a fortune. Wayne also says that Nicki’s people sent a letter and claimed that her producers didn’t get paid by Cash Money, which is their responsibility to make sure that they do.

Wayne says that the label owes him and the other artists and producers millions. All of this is in Wayne’s lawsuit against Cash Money records that is finally moving on. The suit points out that Universal Music Group gave Cash Money $100 million advance and the portion that was supposed to go to Young Money never did. Cash Money combats that claim by saying Wayne didn’t turn out the 21 albums in seven years terms of his contract.  Really, three albums a year? Wow. Who can do that?

Tyga has been the only artist to openly talk about his gripes with Cash Money while Nicki and Drake have remained mum.

All it takes it one wronged person to speak up and it’s a good thing that Wayne has taken that step. Cash Money needs to stop playing!

empire taraji henson terrance howard problems 2015 gossipTrouble in the Empire… Taraji Henson Can’t Stand Terrance Howard?

It was bound to happen right? With every good thing, there is some drama or scandal that threatens to end its reign. Well, that is what people are saying about the two stars of Fox’s hit Empire.

Rumors swirl that Taraji Henson and Terrance Howard are not feeling each other and have butted heads on more than one occasion. Sources say that it has gotten to the point where Henson can’t stand to be around Terrance.

“It’s gotten so bad that Taraji can’t be on set for more than 30 seconds without staring daggers at him… She’s irritated by the pompous, bigheaded braggart that Terrence has become.”

This kind of comes as no surprise to me for a number of reasons, one of which being that Terrance is known for being difficult to work with. He kind of even admitted to it himself. It’s a shame since the two seemed like such good friends as they go all the way back to Hustle and Flow for which Terrance was nominated for a best actor Oscar.

Hope they can work it out before it get so bad that they can’t do the show together.

Premier League Week 8 Soccer Review 2015

premier league week 8 yohan cabaye soccer 2015 imagesThe eighth round of the Premier League 2015/16 season started with West Bromwich Albion’s visit to Selhurst Park, where Tony Pulis was pitted against his former team, Crystal Palace. It didn’t prove to be good visit for the Baggies as they succumbed to a 2-0 loss against the Eagles, for whom Yohan Cabaye ran the show from midfield. The win has raised Alan Pardew’s men to fourth place in the standings.

In a battle of the Premier League newbies, Bournemouth were held to a 1-1 draw by Watford, which has put the former in 15th while the latter are 12th in the table.

Stoke City were 1-0 winners at Villa Park against Aston Villa. The loss was sixth in the last seven outings for Tim Sherwood’s men and the reverse has increased the pressure on the former Tottenham Hotspur boss as he attempts to hang on to his managerial position at the club.

Newcastle United took a surprise lead at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City, but they wouldn’t have anticipated the storm that was to hit them. Sergio Aguero gave a breathtaking display of forward play as he netted five goals in a span of 30 minutes and Kevin De Bruyne struck the other goal for the Citizens as they moved back to the top of the league standings with a sensational 6-1 win. Meanwhile, the Magpies are now bottom of the table and are still searching for their first win of the season having lost five and drawn the other three out of their first eight.

Jamie Vardy continued his heroics for Leicester City as they defeated Norwich City 2-1 at Carrow Road. The win moves Caludio Ranieri’s men to fifth, while the Canaries are now 13th in the table.

Sunderland went 2-0 up in a sensational start at the Stadium of Light against West Ham United, but were pegged back and had to contend with a solitary point as the Hammers fought back with a goal apiece from Carl Jenkinson and Dimitri Payet. The match proved to be Dick Advocaat’s last in charge of the Black Cats as he left the club later in the day.

In one of the shock results of the week, Southampton inflicted a crushing 3-1 defeat on reigning English champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The hosts took the lead courtesy of a superlative free-kick from Willian, but were pegged back by a Steven Davis goal near the half time mark. Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle grabbed one a piece in the second half to secure all three points for the Saints.

Everton held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park in what turned out to be the death knell for the Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers as he got the boot after more than three years at Anfield.

Arsenal were in scorching form at the Emirates Stadium as they struck three times within the first 20 minutes to inflict a 3-0 defeat on Manchester United.

Swansea City held Tottenham Hotspur to a 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium.

Josh Freeman’s Embarrassing FXFL Debut Proves NFL Team Right In Passing Him Around

Josh freeman embarrassing FXFL Debut proves tampa bay buccaneers rightFormer Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback and 2009 first round draft pick bust Josh Freeman made a great stride towards having no professional football career whatsoever on Friday after a not-so-hot debut with the Brooklyn Bolts of the FXFL.

Okay, pause. Let’s jog our memories on Josh Freeman first, and then I’ll explain to y’all what on earth the Fall Experimental Football League is.

The Kansas State product was picked by the Bucs in the first round back in 2009, and he started 57 games for them over his first four seasons with the team. Freeman’s numbers weren’t horrible—11,108 passing yards and 68 touchdowns between 2010 and 2012—but a concerning numbers of interceptions and ridiculous accuracy issues made it clear that Freeman was not the QB of the future in Tampa.

By 2013 the Bucs had had enough, and Freeman ended up with the Minnesota Vikings and three more starts in Tampa. One sad loss to the New York Giants later, Freeman would never start a game in the NFL again. The Miami Dolphins picked him up and cut him twice this offseason, but no more real pro action.

So, Freeman decided to take his talent (or lack thereof) to the FXFL, a “minor league” football organization with three teams. The league had its inaugural season last year, but it was so strapped for cash it had to cancel the championship game. It also had to disband the Omaha Mammoths, my personal favorite team.

“I just wanted to keep playing football in any capacity and continue to stay sharp,” Freeman said Thursday. “Stepping in the huddle and calling plays and that whole procedure and process, maintaining my routine that comes along with being in season, I think it gives me a better shot to perform at my highest level if a team does call me up.”

A good number of laughable players from football’s past have popped up here over time. Taj Boyd, Jordan Jefferson, people like that. But Freeman was the most embarrassing. Most of these players are trying to make it to the NFL. This guy was a starting quarterback on the professional level for years.

In the Bolts’ game against the Blacktips—described on the FXFL’s website as “a roving All-Star team” which has no set roster and plays no home games—Freeman finished 9-of-16 for 32 yards, a touchdown, an interception, and five fumbles. You know, the number after four.

Freeman refused to talk to reporters after the game, but Bolts head coach Terry Shea blamed the rainy weather for the performance.

“I’ve got to think that this was maybe just one of those nights where a perfect storm came together for him,” said Shea. “It really controlled him.”

Maybe the league can’t afford regular footballs and the ones they use are really slippery when wet. Yeah, that’s probably it.

Freeman needs to take a page from Tim Tebow’s book and turn down opportunities to play anywhere else. At least he only gets embarrassed on the NFL-level.
