Celta Vigo, who recently wrecked reigning Spanish and European champions Barcelona in a league clash, were held to a stalemate by Madrid outfit Getafe at Balaidos and slipped to third in the league standings as a consequence.
Barcelona travelled to the Estadio Roman Sanchez Pizjuan to take on Sevilla and struggled to assert any kind of control in midfield without the presence of Andres Iniesta. They managed to hold onto a 0-0 scoreline going into the half time break. But the hosts started the second half brightly and took the lead through Michael Krohn-Dehli, the Dane later turned provider for Vicente Iborra as Sevilla looked to gain all three points against the Catalan giants.
The visitors pulled one back courtesy of a spot kick converted by Neymar, but they couldn’t find an equalising goal and had to settle without a point from the encounter. Barcelona hit the post three times through the course of the match and felt the absence of club stalwart Lionel Messi, who is nursing an injury and will not be available until the end of November. It remains to be seen how the Catalans cope with the absence of the Argentina national team skipper.
Granada and Deportivo La Coruna played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Charles scored a hat-trick for Malaga against David Moyes’ Real Sociedad at the Rosaleda to give his side a 3-1 victory. Their wretched form has put pressure on former Manchester United manager Moyes, who is now in danger of losing his job, if things do not improve in the coming weeks.
A strike in each half from Heiko Westermann and Ruben Castro gave all three points to Real Betis against Rayo Vallecano. The Sevillistas are now eighth in the table.

Deyverson struck a late winner against league leaders Villarreal to inflict a 1-0 defeat on the side. However, Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side managed to stay atop the table at the conclusion of seventh round of fixtures.
