Tensions rise even higher on tonight’s episode of “Total Divas,” and Eva Marie said it was weird being around Brie and Nikki, considering the tension between them. Naomi stood up for Eva Marie and said the tension between everyone was uncomfortable. Nikki asked Brie if seeing herself on displays for Wrestlemania would convince her to stay in the WWE. Brie said she wanted a baby and Daniel Bryan told Nikki she needs to let John Cena go because Nikki wants marriage and kids but Cena doesn’t.

While getting ready for Wrestlemania Nikki told their mom she and Eva Marie were going to talk. Brie said she was done with Eva Marie because she called her a sheep. Eva Marie said she didn’t know what to expect when talking with Nikki. She said she thought she and Eva Marie were cool but she told Eva Marie she was making herself a victim. Nikki told Eva Marie that she and the other divas don’t even look at her as a wrestler. Eva Marie said that’s why she was busting her butt in training.

She also accused Nikki of being a bad diva’s champ. Nikki said Eva Marie doesn’t care about being a diva and that she just wants to be famous. Eva Marie said Nikki didn’t trash talk her but didn’t support her either. Nikki told Brie Eva Marie said she couldn’t wait to change the locker room. Brie said in a year Eva Marie won’t be in the WWE anymore. Nikki said she tries to help all the other divas. Brie said Eva Marie tried to take Wrestlemania week away from Nikki. Nikki said she was hurt because she truly likes Eva Marie. Brie said she hates the fact that Eva Marie doesn’t know how hard she and Nikki work at being divas.

Natalya said she was so busy handling her dad she couldn’t remember the speech she had written for the Hall of Fame and that the WWE didn’t like the speech she had written. Nikki said she was having a hard time smiling at the Hall of Fame because of the situation with Eva Marie. Backstage Eva Marie said she felt uncomfortable with all the workplace drama. Natalya sad she was feeling a lot of pressure regarding her Hall of Fame speech. She inducted Alundra Blaze into the WWE Hall of Fame for 2015.

Eva Marie said she had to set the drama aside and do her job. Paige said Wrestlemania is every wrestler’s dream and she was a part of it at the young age of 22. Eva Marie said going to work was weird but she had to do it and that she hopes to be in Wrestlemania next year. Nikki said because of the energy of Wrestlemania she still wants to work for WWE but Brie still said she’s more interested in having a baby. Brie said she couldn’t wait to tell her future kids what it’s like to walk onto the set of Wrestlemania. Nikki said Paige’s enthusiasm about wrestling is why Nikki enjoys the business so much.

A week after Wrestlemania Brie and Daniel Bryan visited a fertility doctor. Brie found out she and Daniel Bryan are both fertile. Brie said there is a small window each month where pregnancy is likely and that with her and Daniel being on the road all the time she may as well concentrate on her career for now. Daniel Bryan said they can have fun trying for a baby while on the road.

Eva Marie told Jonathan about a meeting she had with an agent in which the agent signed a contract with her. Eva Marie said this was opening up many doors for her. She said she was excited to get back to her training since Wrestlemania was over for the year.

chelsea vs swansea city arsenal premier league 2015 soccerThe Premier League champions, Chelsea, didn’t get the perfect start to the campaign as per Jose Mourinho’s liking. The West Londoners were held 2 – 2 at the Stamford Bridge at the weekend by Garry Monk’s Swansea City.

The Blues boss didn’t seem happy with his medical staff in the dying minutes of the match. The Portuguese manager blasted his medical team for wasting time for a minor problem with Eden Hazard in the injury time.

“I wasn’t happy with my medical staff because even if you are a medical doctor or secretary on the bench, you have to understand the game,” said Chelsea manager Mourinho.

“If you go to the pitch to assist a player, then you must be sure that a player has a serious problem. I was sure that Eden didn’t have a serious problem. He had a knock and was very tired.

He added: “My medical department left me with eight fit outfield players in a counter attack after a set piece and we were worried we didn’t have enough players left.”

Garry Monk, on the other hand, was delighted to take away a point from the home stadium of the 2014-15 Premier League champions.

“For 90 minutes we were excellent, we really competed,” said the Swansea manager. “I set the team out to be offensive and showcase our talent. Of course there were moments we had to defend well, but the best chances fell to us. We got the result we deserved.

“It’s just one game, one point, but to come and do it here where we suffered last season should give us confidence. We know in this League you can get bitten, so we need to focus.”

Chelsea’s next stern test will be on this coming Friday as they face the former champions Manchester City. Pellegrini’s men were flawless in their opening fixture of the season as they defeated Tony Pulis’s West Brom.

Yaya Toure scored a brace while the club captain Vincent Kompany headed in the third. City won 3 – 0 and thus are ahead of every other side in the league after the opening game week.

Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United weren’t very impressive in their first fixture of the season but Kyle Walker’s own goal gifted them the result they had wanted. The 1 – 0 victory over Spurs would give confidence to the new signings at Old Trafford. The Italian full back Matteo Darmian was the best player in the red jersey in the early kick off on Saturday. United travel to Villa Park for their second game of the season, before meeting Club Brugge in the Champions League play-off on August 18.

Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool got the three points they were looking for. Coutinho stepped up for the Reds in the 86th minute and blasted in a magnificent shot from distance. The Merseyside giants won 1 – 0 against Mark Hughes’ Stoke City, who defeated them 6 – 1 on the last day of the last season.

Arsenal lost 2 – 0 at home to Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United. Petr Cech’s debut in goal for the Gunners was nothing short of a disaster. In the next game week, Arsene Wenger’s men travel to Selhurst Park to face Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace. It will be yet another tough test for the FA Cup holders.

SENSE8 105: Art Is Like Religion or Lito Shares Sun’s Menstrual Cramps

wolfgang pool sense8 art is like religion 2015The fifth episode of “Sense8“, “Art is Like Religion,” once again engaged us in the personal lives of the eight strangers. After the last episode offered so much content in terms of the underlying plot, it was surprising that this episode went back to showcasing the individual stories of the characters. That being said, while showing these individual stories there was definitely a larger emphasis and role being played by the connection between them.

The scope of the episode broadened once again, touching on all eight of the “cluster” (Will, Sun, Corpheus, Wolfgang, Riley, Kala, Lito and Nomi). However, this time around it seems like a much more manageable feat as the stories are being intertwined in a more natural and smooth way. So far it seems that Will is the only one of the eight that has somewhat of a grasp on what is happening between them. In contrast to characters like Nomi, who believes her “hallucinations” of the other strangers are due to unusual brain growth that the doctors are saying she has.

The beginning episodes showed them mostly scaring away from their shared powers, but this episode seemed to show the characters somehow more at ease with their new capabilities and connection with one another. Instead of shying away from each other, they are becoming curious of the lives one another.

lito feeling suns cramps sense8 art religion recap 2015Just as we have seen how the shared abilities can be beneficial, like it was between Corpheus and Sun (episode 3) and Nomi and Will (episode 4), this episode also shows that the “cluster” shares negative experiences as well. This aspect being demonstrated through Lito’s comedic scene, where he experiences Sun’s period cramps and hormonal changes. He winds up breaking down on set of his latest film, revealing to the director that he was in the moment and “struck down by” his costars natural beauty. It was funny seeing macho Lito having a full on break down, as he suddenly could not control his overwhelming emotions.

The episode also showcases Corpheus’ progress in delivering Silas’ package in exchange for the medicine his mother needs. As he is on his way a gang of four thugs, who threaten him if he does not hand over the package, stops him. Seemingly still on a high from his last victorious fight, he begins getting into a fighting stance, confident he will be able to summon Sun’s abilities once again. Needless to say, Corpheus ends up package-less and flat on his face. Unfortunately he hasn’t had the privilege of being told by Jonas that “visiting” cannot be forced.

With an enviable sense of confidence (and most likely some desperation), Corpheus ends up finding the car of the thugs and is able to steal the package back and get it to Silas. Silas reveals to Corpheus that the whole assignment was a test to see how dedicated he was and rewards Corpheus with the promised medication he sought.

While there were quite a few scenes that pulled in favor of the characters and even had humorous aspects, this episode also covered the unique troubles that characters are facing. Such as Nomi, who although out of the hospital, is having a hard time getting back to her apartment as hospital workers and police are trying to track her down. She is also unaware of the “cluster,” and as mentioned previously, she is scared that they are hallucinations caused by her apparent abnormal brain growth.

We also see further into Kala’s life as she is in the midst of marrying Rajan, a man she is not in love with. Her inability to connect with Rajan is emphasized by her feeling of connection between her “cluster”-mate Wolfgang, whom she has had several “visits” with.

Sun as well is facing her fair share of difficulties. This being because she must make a decision to turn herself in to protect the wrongdoings of her brother and thereby save her fathers company or let her brother be imprisoned for his embezzlement and take her fathers company with him (as he is the face of the company). By the end of the episode, we see her handing over her dogs leash to a friend, assumedly showing she has decided to turn herself in for a crime she did not commit.

While each character faces different challenges and choices, episode 5 shows how the connection between them can make a big impact on what their actions will be. They now find themselves confiding in strangers who share their thoughts, emotions, skills, etc.

As decisions are being made and a stronger connection between the eight is being established, it seems Sense8 is laying the groundwork for the fireworks show that is undoubtedly on its way as critical decisions are being made by each character.

BACHELOR IN PARADISE 204: Villain Joe & Nipping Those Buds

bachelor in paradise 204 joshua imagesEpisode 4 of Bachelor in Paradise (week 2) shows us that there is definitely room for more than one drama queen in Paradise.

After his argument with Clare in the last episode, Mikey finally makes an appearance after locking himself away in his room. He tells Kirk that he is still pissed off at Clare and wouldn’t be interested in 34-year-old Clare if he were Jared.

However, Clare and Jared seem to enjoy themselves on their date, where they wind up going bungee jumping over the ocean. Clare reveals that she is scared of heights, but luckily Jared alleviates her fear by making out with her.

Ashley I., who is in the next room, overhears and begins crying (surprise, surprise!) Ashley complains that she doesn’t “want to hear Clare and her storytelling where she thinks she’s the princess and she’s talking to all her animals friends.” She whines about always having to compete for the guy she likes. Hmmm, maybe being on The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise isn’t such a good idea then, is it?

Meanwhile, another guy comes to join the crew in Paradise and this time it is Michael from Desiree’s season of The Bachelorette. Michael right away reveals that he came to Paradise hoping to meet Tenley, who at this point is in a love-triangle with JJ and Joshua.

Michael makes himself a few enemies (in Josh and JJ) when he asks Tenley to go with him on a date. Over dinner, Michael gets straight to the point and tells Tenley that she was his “Plan A,” and he didn’t have a “Plan B.”

Back at the house, Jared surprisingly has an intense talk with Clare. Although their date went well, he reveals that he is hesitant to get involved with someone 8 years older than him. Clare determines that Jared is simply “not ready” for her and the two squash their relationship quickly. Looks like Ashley I. is in luck!

Before the second rose ceremony, Juelia announces in front of everyone that she will be giving her rose to Joe. At this point, everyone sees right through Joe’s ploy to use Juelia to further himself except Juelia. However, both Jonathan and Mikey take it upon themselves to confront her in attempt to take off her rose-colored glasses.

After talking to Jonathan and Mikey, Juelia brings up what she was told to Joe about him using her. Right away, Joe is pissed off (even though what they said was true) and assures her that this isn’t the case.

Joe winds up talking to both Mikey and Jonathan about what they said to Juelia. Joe, being the great actor he is, is able to convince both of them that he really is invested into Juelia. The evil Joe even gets Jonathan to give an emotional apology to Juelia for “lying” to her about Joe’s intentions.

Finally it’s time for Ashley I. to find some joy in Paradise. Jared and her go for a walk-and-talk along the beach, where Jared tells her he wants to “get to know [her] better.” Ensuring to secure Ashley’s rose, as he is obviously not getting Clare’s at this point he kisses Ashley.

In previous episode, Ashley I. has rightfully earned the title of drama queen in Paradise, but Clare definitely gave her a run for her money during this week’s rose ceremony. Before the ceremony starts, Clare interrupts host Chris Harrison saying that she isn’t here “to play games and strategize” like apparently everyone else is.

At this point, Ashley I. is even more satisfied that the woman, who was just stealing Jared away from her, is breaking down as she feels yet again she isn’t going to find love. (Note: this is her third appearance on a Bachelor show)

Jade quickly responds to Clare’s rant and tells her she is offended by her claim that everyone this season seems to be there to “play games and strategize.” Clare quips back, “If the shoe fits, wear it,” which to me didn’t even make any sense but somehow she gets away with it.

The ceremony continues with Carly picking Kirk, Ashley S. picking Dan and Jade picking Tanner. Although those couples were pretty much a lock, it was surprising to see Tenley pick Joshua since her date with Michael seemed to go so well.

However, mid-ceremony Clare runs off in tears and is followed by Chris Harrison as the show cuts to a “To Be Continued.”

Sneak Peak:

The preview reveals that Samantha will be the next addition to paradise, which is exactly who Joe is waiting for. Therefore, it seems that Juelia will finally realize what everyone has already figured out: that Joe is simply using her to keep himself safe.

It will be interesting to see how Mikey and Jonathan (especially after his emotional apology to Joe and Juelia) react once they see that their suspicions were right and Joe has been lying the whole time.

The family has already been preparing and celebrating the big day for the past week, but the big party took place at Bootsy Bellows, a nightclub in West Hollywood.

Kylie first showed up, fashionably late of course, in a skintight sparkly silver mini dress, which featured a design of shear panels. Later on, the star changed into a sparkly little black dress. The birthday girl was seen sporting a long platinum blonde wig that definitely helped her to steal the spotlight on her big day.

The party featured performances by rapper Fetty Wap, and of course Kylie’s boyfriend Tyga. While the night seemed extravagant from the get-go, it was the surprise at the end of the night that really reflected the 18-year-old’s luxurious life style.

At the end of the night, Kylie was gifted with a 458 Italia Spider Ferrari that is estimated to be worth $295,000. The car, a gift from her boyfriend Tyga, made a huge splash as Kylie and her family were pictured gasping at the super-sleek car.

Earlier in the week Kylie took to Instagram to show off her new Hermes bag, which costs about $10000 and it wouldn’t be all too surprising if she received thousands more dollars of presents from her family and friends.

howard stern talks jennifer aniston justin theroux wedding 2015More and more details have been surfacing since A-list couple Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux successfully pulled off a secret backyard wedding. Last Wednesday, the two stars disguised their party as Justin’s 44th birthday, however once pictures showed both a priest and a wedding cake being brought in it was clear that it was more than just a birthday gathering.

On Monday, radio host Howard Stern who was a guest at the ceremony, revealed some of the details of the top-secret event.

Howard revealed that he was one of the few guests that knew that they were getting married, as he was asked to prepare a toast. Howard explained he was “so nervous” to toast the “secretive” couple.

Howard went on to reveal that all the guests weren’t allowed their cell phones, to ensure no pictures were being taken. However, the couple did hire celebrity photographer Terry Richardson to document the night.

Also present at the ceremony was singer Sia, who performed as Jennifer and Justin had their first dance as a couple. In addition, Howard revealed that late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel officiated the wedding ceremony and did a “beautiful job.”

American League Week 18 Recap: Blue Jays Hottest Team In MLB

toronto blue jays hottest mlb team 2015 week 18This time last week we were applauding the moves the Toronto Blue Jays made before the Major League Baseball trade deadline. This landed them on our weekly American League Winners list. Now this time this week the team might be the hottest team in all of Major League Baseball and not just the American League.

The Blue Jays are currently riding an eight game winning streak while going 9-1 over their last ten games. This hot streak helped the Blue Jays move within 1.5 games of the New York Yankees for first place in the American League East while improving there over all record to 61-52

There latest stretch including winning all seven games they played during the first full week of August. The Blue Jays opened the week taking four straight over the Minnesota Twins. In that series the Blue Jays offense produced but it was the team’s pitching that stood out. The Blue Jays rotation allowed back to back one run games before allowing seven runs in game three but finished the series allowing just three runs.

After sweeping the Twins, the Blue Jays made a trip to New York to make up ground in the American League East. In the end the Blue Jays did exactly that sweeping the Yankees in the three game series allowing just one run in the three game series.

Now we will take a look at each of the three American League Divisions as well as how each team has played over the past week.

East Division: The American League East continues to be one of the more exciting divisions in all of baseball. The latest trends in the division point to the Blue Jays over taking the Yankees for the top spot while the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays can’t seem to make their mind up on what they want to do.

While the Blue Jays have been the hottest team in the division the other four teams have taking a slight step back. The Yankees managed to play to a 4-6 record over their past ten games while both the Orioles and Rays won five of ten. The last team in the division the Boston Red Sox played to the second best record over the past ten games winning six.

For the Yankees the week opened much like the weekend ended as they outscored the Red Sox 13-3 on Tuesday to open the three game series. After losing game two 2-1, the Yankees returned the favor with a 2-1 win. Unfortunately the teams luck ran out as they manage to score just one run over the three game series against the Blue Jays.

After the Blue Jays and Yankees, the Orioles currently sit in third place after the teams strong play last week. Unfortunately the team headed out west for a nine game stretch that started in Oakland. The Orioles managed take two of three before losing two of three against the Los Angeles Angels.

In the middle of the pack sit the Rays but after a strong 4-2 record the team could be playing themselves back into one of the two wild card positions. If this roller coaster ride continues over the couple months and who knows which teams will play themselves into the postseason.

Central Division: While the American League East continues to be an up and down division the Central division has become just a one team division. That team is the Kansas City Royals who are 66-44 but were only 5-5 last week. Luckily for them the second place team the Minnesota Twins are just 2-8 over there last ten games.

This current stretch run of play in the division allowed for the Royals to build a commanding 11.5 game stretch while the Twins have played themselves out of both of the wild card standings. For the Royals the week started off slow after a 5-1 win on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers, the team would love the next two games before returning home to sweep the Chicago White Sox.

The rebound to end the week for the Royals just helped build their divisional lead while the Twins continued to struggle. The Twins managed to win just one game last week and are just 2-13 over their last 15 games. Unfortunately for them the team ran into a red hot Blue Jays to open the week losing all four games before losing two of three against the Cleveland Indians.

As for the rest of the division the Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians continue to struggle falling farther and farther behind the Royals in the division.

West Division: Out West the division is joining into the pack for one of the most exciting divisions in baseball to watch. Currently the Houston Astros hold a half game lead over the Los Angeles Angels while the Texas Rangers sit at 55-55 and are just 4.5 games off the lead.

Behind the top three teams are the Seattle Mariners who are 52-60 and the Oakland A’s at 51-62 but both teams have played well of late winning six of their past ten while the Rangers are 7-3. This type of play while the top two teams have struggled have moved them all within 10 games of the top spot in the division.

For us the team we are looking at is not the Astros or Angels but the Rangers. Despite being in third place before the MLB trade deadline the team didn’t sit still making a key move to land Cole Hamels. This was the type of move that not only could help them move up within the division this year but help the team in the future as Hamels will pair with Yu Darvish to form one of the top rotations in all of baseball next year.

These moved showed up this past week as the team went 4-2 for the week sweeping the Astros to open the week before losing two of three against the Mariners. Along with the Rangers, the Angels were able to turn around their recent stretch taking two of three over both the Indians and the Orioles.

For us our eyes will be on the American League down the stretch as we continue to look at which of these 15 teams will find themselves at the top of each division at the end of the season.

National League Week 18 Recap: Cardinals Holding Best Record In MLB

Currently the top three teams in the division hold on to the top three records in the National League. At the top of the division sit the St. Louis Cardinals holding the best record in baseball.

Following the Cardinals in the National League Central sits the Pittsburgh Pirates at 65-44 and the Chicago Cubs at 62-48. While the Central continues to dominate the National League the New York Mets currently have found a way to hold on to the top spot in the East. Meanwhile out West the Los Angeles Dodgers currently hold on to the top spot with a three game lead over the San Francisco Giants.

The one question we continue to ask ourselves is how long could the National League Central be the dominate division? As we start to look at each of these three top teams they are filled with talent starting with the likes of dominate young starters in Michael Wacha and Carlos Martinez in St. Louis.

Move up to Chicago, you have one of the best young nucleus in all of baseball built around stars like Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant. Then in Pittsburgh you have former MVP Andrew McCutchen with other stars like Starling Marte, Jung Ho Kang and Gerrit Cole.

Now we will take a look at each of the three National League Divisions as well as how each team has played over the past week.

East Division: The National League East continues to be a surprise to us as the New York Mets currently sit at top the division not the Washington Nationals. This comes after each of these teams have went in a different path over there past ten games. This allowed the Mets to move back up the standings while the Nationals fell back to second place.

The Mets are currently 7-3 over their last ten games while the Nationals have picked up just three wins in there last ten. For the Mets their success started over last weekend sweeping the Nationals. That success continued top open the week as the Mets swept the Miami Marlins behind two strong pitching performances. After picking up the sweep the Mets picked up game 1 against the Tampa Bay Rays before losing back to back games over the weekend.

For the Nationals the success wasn’t the same this past week as the team managed to split a four game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Following the split, the Nationals weren’t able to take care of the last place Colorado Rockies at home over the weekend losing two of three.

While the top two teams continue to battle it out for the division, the hottest team in the National League since the All-Star break may be the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies have been red hot winning three straight heading into Monday and seven of their past ten games.

Central Division: In what might be the best division in all of baseball the St. Louis Cardinals continue to hold down the top spot with a five game lead over the second place Pittsburgh Pirates. That being said the top three teams in the National League Central have the best three records in all of the National League.

Along with the 71-40 Cardinals, the Pirates currently sit at 65-44 followed by the red hot Chicago Cubs who sit at 62-48. When you look around baseball you don’t see any other division with three teams at least ten games five hundred but in this division these three teams are at least 14 game above that mark.

The success continued to roll along for these three teams over the past ten games as the Cardinals and Pirates both took seven of ten while the Cubs picked up nine wins over that mark. Both the Pirates and Cubs are currently riding four game winning streaks heading into Monday Nights action around the Major League.

For the Cubs, this past week was a key one for the squad splitting a rain shortned three game series with the Pirates before welcoming the San Francisco Giants to town four a four game series. In the end the Cubs walked away with four straight wins allowing just 13 runs over the four games while there offense managed to score 22 runs.

The question we continue to ask ourselves is how long will this division be the best in baseball? You start to look at the young talent starting with the likes of Michael Wacha, Carlos Martinez, Gerrit Cole, Andrew McCutchen and Kris Bryant just to name a few you start to think for a very long time.

West Division: Out West the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to hold on the top spot much like the Cardinals have done in the Central. That being said neither the Dodgers or the Giants have played well of late. The Dodgers are riding a three game losing streak while the Giants are coming off a four game sweep to the Cubs.

That sweep came at a bad time for the Giants who only trail the Dodgers by three games for first place. Each of these teams also had a difficult time over the weekend facing off against the National League Central. The Giants who struggled with the Cubs while the Dodgers were swept by the Pirates in a three game series.

Luckily for Dodgers they were able to take two of three against the Phillies to open the week. The Giants also took care of business to open the week after losing 9-8 on Monday in extra innings to the Atlanta Braves. The Giants pitching staff was able to hold the Braves to just four runs in the final two games of the series.

Meanwhile the bottom three teams continue to struggle to play themselves back into the division. The Diamondbacks are at 54-56 followed by the San Diego Padres at 52-60 and the Colorado Rockies at 47-62. Overall all three of these teams have been a big disappointment this season.

Will all the first place teams hold on to the top spot at the end of the 2015 Major League Baseball season.

Ah, High School! If you were Mr. or Mrs. popular you most likely had a blast. However, if you’re like most of us then high school was most likely a pretty shitty experience for you, and you’re doing everything you can to forget about it. Growing up, we wished our high school experiences were as outlandish and fun as some of these unforgettable high school movies, but they usually never were. Below in no particular order are 10 of the best high school films of all time.

They quickly realize that they haven’t done anything in their life that you would brag about so, they quickly make up outrageous tales about what they did after high school. This movie is great because it teaches you that high school does not go on forever, and most of your classmate’s lives will be just as messed up as yours.

When she’s taken to the prom as a joke and the joke goes wrong, Carrie gets revenge on the entire school. It’s sadistic, but if you’ve ever been bullied then you know exactly what makes this film great.

It’s still fun to look back at the loud clothing and shallow problems of these characters after all these years. That is if you didn’t watch the show based on the movie that ran successfully for many years after the movie was made.

CREEP A Slow Slow Burner Horror Movie Review

Creep is a horror/ drama recently released on Netflix streaming, but was originally made and released in 2014. Although it has a very plausible concept that carried it a long way, it is very hard to take it seriously at times. While the concept of the movie is plausible, the actions of the main character is so stupid it’s hard to swallow if this could really, really happen. The story starts out with Aaron, a videographer, answering a one-day job ad to film a man in a remote cabin town. When I say remote, I mean there is no one else around but his crazy ass client. Why anyone uses Craiglist anymore after the multiple serial killers who have come from it, is beyond me. But, this guy does apparently! It’s hard to believe that when this guy sees where the client lives he doesn’t turn around and flee right away, but he doesn’t and the guy is super creepy from the very beginning.

The client Josef, tells Aaron that he wants him to record him for the day because he’s dying of terminal cancer. He wants to give the tape to his young son who he doesn’t get to see a lot so he will know him long after he dies. This seems heartfelt and even a little emotional, but things get weird quickly. When Josef goes to the bathroom and starts removing his clothes you instantly get very uncomfortable along with Aaron. He wants Aaron to record him in the bathroom, which seems widely inappropriate for a video that will be seen by his son. He tells Aaron to get comfortable because they’re going to go a lot deeper than this.

Yup, he’s a creep!

During the bathroom scene Josef goes on to tell a story about how his father would dress up in a wolf mask. Supposedly it would comfort him and it was great father/son bonding. It actually sounds like a creepy case of child abuse though. It was so uncomfortable watching this guy talk about this creepy memory in the bathtub, while watching him squirm around like an 8 year old kid. Horror doesn’t always have to be blood-and-guts. Sometimes, horror just hits it’s mark by being uncomfortable. There were times I wanted to look away from the screen because you felt equally as creepy watching this guy.

It’s worth mentioning that even though there are only two people in the entire film, the performances are not equally yoked. Patrick Brice who played the naive videoagrapher Aaron is also the director of the film. He should have just stuck to being the director because his acting skills were so poor it made some scenes near the end a bit comical. I didn’t buy him at all as a man truly afraid for his life. His performance felt like film school acting. Mark Durplass on the other hand as the creep Josef, is extremely creepy and believable as someone who is clearly not right in the head. Though he plays the character well, the movie would have benefited by making the character a little less creepy. Toning down some of the “creep” factor wouldn’t have given away his obviously off personality so quickly.

One of the most disturbing scenes of the movie for me is when Josef asks to tell Aaron something he’s supposedly never told another person before. He wants the camera cut off as well. Aaron does so-but he does leave the audio on. What happens next is pretty disturbing. He accuses his wife of engaging in some very perverse activities. When he feels like their marriage is about to crumble in the midst of the accusation, he does something even more unsettling. The entire story sounds completely made up and unrealistic, but you’re left wondering why would he lie about this? Why would he make this up and why would he tell a complete stranger this story? It’s from this point on that you know something is deeply wrong with this guy, and the film takes a completely dark turn. After Josef is knocked out with some drinks, Aaron receives a pretty frightening phone call from someone saying he needs to leave the house right away. When asked if this is his wife, the woman says she’s his sister and he really needs to get out of the damn house! It’s a pretty cliched scene, but yet, it still has its place.

Again, the scene where Josef chases Aaron around wearing a scary wolf mask is borderline comedic. Yes, it’s scary that Josef is torturing his guest with this stupid mask, but on screen it just comes across as silly. The only way you can take it seriously, is if you put yourself in the place of Aaron. Even though it looks stupid on screen, it would be totally frightening to be chased around the house by a freak wearing a wolf mask and when he grabs an ax, you know he means business.

The third act of the movie, though poorly acted by Patrick Brice, is the most interesting part. Josef can’t leave Aaron alone once he escapes his house. He proceeds to send him a creepy video tape along with a baby wolf stuffed animal.Aaron starts to hear strange noises outside of his house. His fears of Josef returning are confirmed when Josef leaves another creepy video for him- only this time the DVD was left on the windowsill by his bed. The video is Josef apologizing for the last creepy video and asking for Aaron to meet him at a park so they can have “closure.”

In another unbelievable turn of events, Aaron actually meets Josef in a obviously isolated park! Could anyone really be that freakin’ stupid? What happens next is both shocking and believable. It’s about the only believable thing in the entire film. The ending is interesting and the best part of the film.

I can only recommend this movie to horror fans with absolute patience. Even if you’re like me and like slow-burners, this film will be a challenge for you as it has some down right boring spots. The indie effort put behind it though is admirable, and it is certainly not the worst horror indie film to hit Netflix this year. Different viewers will see a different movie.

Although none of the very top seeds saw court time a couple talented French players advanced as Gilles Simon and Gael Monfils booked their spots in the round of 32. However both of those players are considered very peripheral favorites to win the title outright, priced at 80 to 1 and 66 to 1 respectively (all odds from Sportingbet). The top picks to win this year’s Canadian Masters, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and Kei Nishikori, will see action later this week.

Djokovic, priced shorter than even odds at -125 (4/5), enters Montreal with a spectacular 48-3 record on the year. He’s looking at a pretty routine opening match as he has drawn Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci. Bellucci, who is not know for hard court success, is a little bit of a clay courter. But caught on the wrong surface against the current World No. 1, the Brazilian appears as though he will not be much of a challenge for the Serbinator.

Andy Murray, the second favorite to win the Canadian Masters, has won the event twice before. He first won in 2009 and he defended his title the following year in 2010, defeating Juan Martin del Potro and Roger Federer respectively in the title matches.

The Scot is considered a 3.5 to 1 mild underdog but the luck of the draw did not go his way. Murray will face tough veteran Tommy Robredo in the second round with a match-up against either Monfils or Gilles Muller looming thereafter. With Marin Cilic, Bernard Tomic, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga near Murray in the draw, the World No. 3 truly has a difficult path to negotiate if he is to make Montreal’s late rounds.

The third favorite at the 2015 Rogers Cup is not a consensus pick however Kei Nishikori has garnered the confidence of many sports bettors. Japan’s top player is currently ranked fourth in the world and he is coming off of a title run from ATP Washington last week, a tournament in the 500 series.

However, when it comes to betting, Nishikori may very well be a case of “bettor’s beware.” Many times a player who wins a title in one week is not well-rested enough to compete the very next week, not following so many recently played matches. The 25-year old, in winning the Washington title, did have to play three sets against both Marin Cilic and John Isner in the semifinals and final. If Nishikori is at all tired, he could well be over-rated as the third favorite in Montreal this week even with a fairly routine early round draw.

Other serious title threats include both Rafael Nadal and Stan Wawrinka. Nadal, who remains a fuzzy player at this point in his career, shares a draw to the semifinals with Nishikori. Wawrinka, who has hard court titles this season from Rotterdam and Chennai, shares a quarter with Canada’s top player, Milos Raonic.

Prior to the release of the draw, I did like Andy Murray’s odds however I think the draw for ATP Montreal favors Djokovic. He shares a quarter with Tomas Berdych, a player the Serbinator has dominated over the years. With Murray looking at some tough matches, with Nadal’s form highly questionable, with Roger Federer missing the tournament, with Nishikori perhaps fatigued, and with Wawrinka having never won a hard court Masters Series event, betting against Djokovic in Montreal does seem a bit foolish now.

The championship match in Montreal will be played on Sunday. At this point, it looks like it will be Djokovic versus a yet-to-be-determined opponent, one of which could easily be one of five different players.

Novak Djokovic has been far and away the most dominant force in men’s tennis this year, and he’s expected to continue his stellar play in the next Grand Slam tournament. On the heels of winning his second consecutive Wimbledon championship, Djokovic is the overwhelming favorite to claim the 2015 U.S. Open title.

Ranking No.1 in the world for over a year, Djokovic has been given even betting odds to win the final Grand Slam tournament of 2015. He seized the top spot in the ATP rankings from Rafael Nadal when he emerged victorious at Wimbledon last year, and he hasn’t looked back, continuing to stand out as the best member of tennis’ “Big Four.”

Djokovic has won two of the three Grand Slam tournaments this year, giving him nine titles in his career. Winning at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon, Djokovic only came up short at the French Open, where he still managed to reach the finals. The French Open is the only Grand Slam championship that has eluded Djokovic in his career.

Even outside of the Grand Slam tournaments, Djokovic has been nearly unbeatable. With wins in Rome, Monte Carlo and Miami, Djokovic has won five of his last six tournaments. All of his losses have come against tough competition, suffering just one defeat against a player that isn’t currently ranked in the top five.

For nearly three months, Djokovic has stayed away from singles play outside of the Grand Slam tournaments. He’s back in action at the Coupe Rogers in Montreal, taking the court for the first time since he defeated Roger Federer at Wimbledon on July 12.

Despite his dominance, it may not be smooth sailing for Djokovic to win at Flushing Meadows. It’s been four years since Djokovic won the U.S. Open title, and he watched as Marin Cilic claimed the championship last year. The world’s top player was ousted in the semifinals last year by Kei Nishikori, and he reached the U.S. Open finals each year from 2010-2013, winning the title just once.

Andy Murray is considered to be Djokovic’s biggest competition with +400 betting odds. The No.3 player in the world didn’t make it past the U.S. Open quarterfinals in either of the last two years, but he topped Djokovic to win the title in 2012. But Djokovic has had Murray’s number on hard court, going 16-6 against the Brit on the surface, including a win in the 2015 Australian Open final.

Federer dominated the U.S. Open from 2004-2008, winning the championship each year. He hasn’t had as much luck of late, failing to reach the finals in each of the last five years. Federer’s last two trips to a Grand Slam final were spoiled by Djokovic, who beat him to win Wimbledon both last year and this year. But Federer did get a hard-court victory over Djokovic in 2015, beating him in straight sets to win the championship in Dubai.

Rafael Nadal has struggled in 2015, falling all the way to No.9 in the rankings. He has +1000 odds to win the U.S. Open, where he defeated Djokovic for the championship in both 2010 and 2013. Nadal hasn’t advanced beyond the quarterfinal of a Grand Slam tournament since last year’s French Open, but he’s reached the final in each of his last three U.S. Open appearances, having not played at Flushing Meadows since 2013. Nadal has a 23-21 edge over Djokovic in their 44 career head-to-head matches, though Djokovic has won six of the last seven.

The former New England Patriots tight end seems determined not to be forgotten as prosecutors claimed that an anonymous tipster who raised questions about one of the jurors in his first trail had a sexually explicit relationship with Hernandez.

Lawyers for Aaron Hernandez want a Massachusetts judge to toss out evidence from a search of a car that prosecutors say the former Patriots tight end was driving when he shot two men in Boston in 2012.

Defense attorneys have asked the court to toss out evidence from the search of a Toyota 4Runner that was found in the garage of a Bristol, Conn. home owned by Hernandez’s relatives. Surveillance footage from the night of the July 2012 killings shows Hernandez driving a car that resembles the one found in the garage of the Lake Avenue house, which is owned by his uncle.

Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado were killed in the 3 a.m. drive-by shooting when a vehicle drove up next to them and someone opened fire at their car. Earlier in the night, prosecutors say, one of the men had bumped into Hernandez and caused him to spill his drink.

The shooting occurred six weeks before Hernandez signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the New England Patriots. It was a cold case investigation that may never have resulted in an arrest had Hernandez not been accused in the June 2013 killing of his friend, Odin Lloyd. The 25-year-old was convicted in April of first-degree murder in Lloyd’s death. He is scheduled to stand trial for the Boston killings later this year.

Authorities identified Hernandez as a suspect after one of the other men accused in Lloyd’s killing directed them to the Lake Avenue house where the Toyota 4Runner was found in June 2013. Hernandez’s lawyers now argue that because Carlos Ortiz – the Bristol native who directed police to 114 Lake Ave. – failed a polygraph examination, police relied on false statements when they executed the search of the home. The search led to the subsequent search and seizure of the car, which is a key piece of evidence in the Boston case.

“The deliberate omission of Ortiz’s failed polygraph examination from the June 26th warrant affidavit misled the court to rely on information provided by Ortiz as credible,” Sultan wrote. “Absent reliance on this inherently untrustworthy source, the affidavit supporting the June 26 warrant application clearly failed to establish probable cause to search 114 Lake Avenue in Bristol.
