Week 13 Fantasy Football Outliers from all 16 Games

Week 13 Fantasy Football Outliers 2015 imagesYou’ve heard it before. I’ve said it too many times to count. Yet it does not change the facts.

To win big money in one foul swoop in daily fantasy sports, you have to find the outliers in order to beat your competition.

Your competition is the other 284,000 guys that want to win five or six digit pots on FanDuel and DraftKings. Theses degenerates won’t be taken out by you picking the same players as everyone else.

That just puts you at the middle of the pack when the final whistle blows on Monday Night Football.

OK, I imagine you’re tired of me preaching on the topic of outliers. Time to put up or shut up. Week 13 is coming up so here are my picks for the best outliers in each game. These are the players that should see lower ownership, thus giving you the best chance to skill / luck your way to serious money.

Keep in mind these players could bottom out just as easily as they hit their ceiling. That’s why you can benefit from them.

TNF:

Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions 8:25

Stafford and Tate: With so many fans seeing Detroit go bonkers on Thanksgiving Day, I wouldn’t be too fast to jump on Stafford / Megatron for stacking. Many others will be thinking the same thing after what they did to Philly, and it was only Philly.

Dec. 6:

Houston Texans at Buffalo Bills 1

Houston is rolling sir! The defense should be a good play in most DFS formats. I would take Brian Hoyer on the cheap also, as he was owned by just 27% of users on DK last week. The defense is putting him in good position to succeed.

Tyrod Taylor would be a sneaky pick also. Kid was owned at just .1% in week 12 but netted 27 fantasy points on DK.

San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears 1

Chicago has been somewhat impressive lately believe it or not. Still people are not going to be high on Jay Cutler. Take Jay along with tight end Martellus Bennett who will be back healthy in week 13.

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns 1

This one’s easy. Cleveland’s likely to be way behind in this game, thus having the starting QB pulled in favor of the third stringer. Right now that’s Johnny Manziel.

Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins 1

Javorius Allen is risky. That’s why I like the no-name filling in at RB for Baltimore. He did just enough on MNF last week to make one DK player super happy to the tune of $60K.

Seattle Seahawks at Minnesota Vikings 1

Take anybody except Russell Wilson. You think he’s gonna throw five TDs again this week? Come on, before week 11, it was nine weeks ago that Wilson went over one TD in the air.

Go back to Rawls.

Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints 1

Cam is the easy play here and the Panther defense. But over half the field feels the same. You’re better off to find another game or take a big risk on CJ Spiller who has a high ceiling even though he is so inconsistent.

New York Jets at New York Giants 1

Time for Chris Ivory to have a huge game again. It’s been a minute. The Giants are a good team to do it against and he was only owned at about 11 percent last week.

Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams 1

By now the luster is off Todd Gurley with four mediocre games in a row. Use that to your advantage and snatch him up at a bargain price of $7300.

Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1

You won’t go wrong by taking Devonta Freeman. But to get outside the box take a shot with Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. Ryan can’t be God awful the rest of the season. Fingers crossed.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans 1

Allen Hurns is out this week most likely so many will shift to take Julius Thomas who could eat up some of that slack. The other Allen will surely get more targets as well. If you trust Bortles go for it.

Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders 4:05

Everyone will still be fixated on the Chiefs’ running backs who are dominating on the cheap in fantasy land. Take the opposite approach with Oakland’s tailback Latavius Murray who was basically unowned last week.

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers 4:05

Guess who’s coming off a big win over Tom Brady? That’s right, Brock Osweiler. That primetime game put the four year NFLer on folks’ radar so best stay away this week in GPP tourneys. You would be better off taking San Diego’s defense which will only cost $2300, leaving plenty of room for steadier plays.

Philadelphia Eagles at New England Patriots 4:25

Philly’s defense sucks. So it makes perfect sense to take them. No one else will against the Pats. This despite Gronk being out of the lineup and Brady throwing to sho-nuff scrubs this week.

Indianapolis Colts at Pittsburgh Steelers 8:30

No one believes in Matt Hasselbeck even though he’s 4-0. He is dirt cheap on DraftKings and Pittsburgh’s defense just gave up five scores to Russell Wilson.

MNF:

Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins 8:30

The biggest outlier ever has to be the Dallas backup QB. That being Matt Cassel. No Dallas QB not named Romo has won a game since 2010! That streak can’t go on forever. Take Cassel handcuffed to Dez Bryant. Surely #88 has some pride after Josh Norman owned him last week which could turn to fantasy gold in week 13.

There you have it. The outliers.

Not the safest picks, but they are ones that can can separate the broke DFS players from the ones needing a bigger rubber band for their bankroll.

Pamela Anderson Closing Book On Playboy & Lady Gaga Woman Of the Year

pamela anderson closing book on playboy 2015 gossipBack in October, the executives of Playboy magazine announced that they would no longer feature nude spreads. From its very first issue in 1953, Playboy has made a name for itself by featuring nude pictorials of models and some of the hottest stars in Hollywood.  The publication decided to cease their signature feature and will begin revamping the magazine in March 2016. However, in order to make the most of the last few nude-filled magazines, Playboy has enlisted actress Pamela Anderson to be the last cover star to bare it all.

In a recent interview Pamela revealed, “I got a call from [Hugh Hefner’s] attorney who said, ‘we don’t want anybody else. There’s nobody else, could you do the last cover of Playboy?’” Unsurprisingly, the 48-year-old blonde bombshell agreed to take on the job and will be featured in the January/February 2016 issue.

Pamela is no newbie when it comes to posing for Playboy. The Baywatch star has been on the cover 14 times and has been involved in 15 different pictorials. Thus, earning her the total of the most featured woman in the magazine. It was 26 years ago that Pamela shot her first cover, which wound up turning the Canadian actress into an overnight sensation.

lady gaga billboards woman of the year 2015 gossipAnother star that was honored by a magazine this week was singer-turned-actress Lady Gaga. Gaga is featured on the latest issue of Billboard magazine, as they named her their 2015 Woman of the Year.

In the accompanying interview, Gaga talks about how she lived this year differently than previous. She explains, “It speaks volumes to me that I’m being recognized as Woman of the Year in 2015. This is the year I did what I wanted instead of trying to keep up with what I thought everyone else wanted from me.”

Later in the article, Gaga reveals that she had a major crisis at the end of 2014. She recounts, “at the end of 2014, my stylist asked, ‘Do you even want to be a pop star anymore?’ I looked at him, and I go, ‘you know, if I could just stop this train right now, today, I would. I just can’t. [But] I need to get off now because I’m going to die.’ When you’re going so fast you don’t feel safe anymore; you feel like you’re being slapped around, and you can’t think straight. But then I felt hands lifting me.” She adds, “It was like everybody came together to try and put a star back in the sky, and they weren’t going to let me down.”

Lady Gaga also explains that she hit a roadblock when she realized that she was creating music that didn’t show her true talent. To stay on the charts, she was being led to creating catchy pop music that didn’t allow her to express her true artistry and soulful voice. She says she questioned herself saying, “Why [am I] letting these people run [me] into the ground? When did [I] become a fashionable robot?” This breaking point led Gaga to join up with singer Tony Bennett for a jazz album where she was able to once again center herself.

Shortly after, she took on the lead role of The Countess on American Horror Story: Hotel, where she continues to receive rave reviews for her performance.

Here’s some of her interview:

Lady Gaga is sitting in her “sanctuary” — the sprawling, olive tree-dotted backyard of her Malibu home — when a silent, tie-clad man arrives with cocktails on a tray. “Thank you,” she says, with the sort of silver-screen elegance that it’s surprising a “dahhhling” doesn’t follow. “I might have busted my ass on the Lower East Side, but there is something nice about a good dirty martini.”

There’s a chill in the air, and while she’s wearing only a tattered Springsteen tee tucked into high-waisted denim shorts, Gaga is intent on watching the sunset. These days, the woman born Stefani Germanotta seeks out serene moments — although her admission that she “craves normalcy” is almost a revolutionary statement from someone who proudly declares that she deals in “the theater of the absurd.” As recently as 2014, the Grammy- and Guinness Record-stacking megastar, who has sold 10.4 million albums in the United States, according to Nielsen Music, considered quitting music altogether. She had parted ways with her longtime manager, Troy Carter, citing overwork, not long after 2013’s Artpop failed to resonate on the order of her earlier albums. She felt her image was threatening to eclipse her artistry.

This year, though, the 29-year-old not only recommitted herself to her career, she reinvented it. The unlikely set of jazz standards she recorded with Tony Bennett, Cheek to Cheek, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the fall of 2014, then won her a sixth Grammy (for best traditional pop vocal album) and spawned an international tour racking up rave reviews for much of 2015. “The audience goes crazy for the way she sings,” says Bennett, 89. “She has one of the great voices of all time, and it’s amazing how musically intelligent she is.” Pop fans the world over voiced a similar sentiment after Gaga’s masterful The Sound of Music medley at the Academy Awards in February, which earned her a warm congratulatory hug from Julie Andrews.

Days later, Gaga revealed that she would take a lead part in American Horror Story: Hotel, the TV show’s fifth season. She won her role as vampire matriarch The Countess after cold-calling series creator Ryan Murphy. “I told him I wanted a place to put all of my anguish and rage and that I was excited to play a killer,” she recalls with relish. “We relate to each other because we’re both transformers,” says Murphy. “We do something trying to work out shit in our personal life. And then the next year we put on a different costume and we’re somebody else.” AHS, the highest-rated series in FX’s history, has had its strongest season this year, with Gaga’s debut in the first episode drawing 12.2 million viewers.

Gaga’s biggest role this year, though, may have been that of the crusader. She released the song “Til It Happens to You,” co-written with Diane Warren, aimed at fostering empathy with victims of sexual assault; authored a Billboard op-ed with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo about ending campus rape; and initiated a partnership between Her Born This Way Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. In October, after seeing Gaga receive an award from the nonprofit Americans for the Arts,The New York Times’ David Brooks was inspired to write a column on the nature of passion and how Gaga’s “amplified life” embodies it.

More than ever, Gaga’s efforts to end bullying and win support for gay and transgender people — as well as those who have suffered abuse, depression or anxiety as a result of prejudice — seem emblematic of millennials’ embrace of “outsiders” like Gaga herself. “Til It Happens to You,” says Warren, “speaks to her fans. That’s why it was so right to go to her.”

Gaga even managed to devote some attention to her personal life, getting engaged to actor Taylor Kinney on Valentine’s Day. (The 6-carat heart-shaped diamond flashes as she rubs the belly of her French bulldog, Asia.) In March, Billboard’s 2014 Woman of the Year Taylor Swift tweeted, “Is it just me or is Lady Gaga, like, fully LIVING right now?!?”

Says Matt Bomer, Gaga’s American Horror Story co-star: “She possesses the art spirit. I know that sounds esoteric, but it’s a distinct thing and very few people have it. Typically if they do, it comes with demons. She’s blessed enough to also have the help system and love in her life to be the beautiful soul she is.” Or as Warren says, “Because of the meat dresses or whatever, you forget that underneath is a super, ridiculously talented person.”

“It speaks volumes to me that I’m being recognized as Woman of the Year in 2015,” says Gaga. “This is the year I did what I wanted instead of trying to keep up with what I thought everyone else wanted from me.” Below, she explains in her own words just what following her instinct entails — and how she hopes to show women and men, artists and industry executives alike how a “hard-core chick” can set about dismantling the status quo.

‘I WANT TO EXPLODE INTO MY 30s’

“My birthday is in March, so these are the last moments of my 20s. I already mourned that in a way, and now I’m really excited about showing girls, and even men, what it can mean to be a woman in her 30s. Why is it that we’re disposing of people once they pass that mark? It’s suddenly, ‘You’re an old woman.’ I’m not f—ing old. I’m more sexual and powerful and intelligent and on my shit than I’ve ever been. I’ve come a long way through a lot of heartache and pain, but none of it made me damaged goods. It made me a fighter. I want to show women they don’t need to try to keep up with the 19-year-olds and the 21-year-olds in order to have a hit. Women in music, they feel like they need to f—ing sell everything to be a star. It’s so sad. I want to explode as I go into my 30s.

“Once you start being mindful and really going, ‘Do I actually want that?,’ you start to feel empowered and you find your value. I love being the annoying girl. I was a theater kid. I was in jazz band. I went to the Renaissance Faire. I was that girl who got made fun of, that nerdy girl. I believe in that girl. I believe in the integrity, intelligence and power of people like her, and I want to ignite it.”

‘I TOOK A GAMBLE BECAUSE EVERYONE HAD WRITTEN ME OFF’

“As soon as the Oscars were over, [former chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M] Jimmy Iovine emailed me something like, ‘That was so f—ing fantastic, and it could’ve been such a disaster.’ He’s Italian and from Brooklyn, so we speak the same comedic language, but I knew he was right. The truth is you can either nail a performance like that or butcher some of the most classic songs sung by an all-time great. I took the gamble because everyone had written me off. It took me a long time to get those notes. I told my manager, ‘I need two months working with my vocal coach every day and to be sober, which means I can’t do other work at all.’ When I work I need to drink and smoke, and I have body pain [due to hip surgery]. But I’m just like any other girl — there’s a human being in there, and if you can keep the human intact, that’s what you’re going to hear in the music.

“At the end of 2014, my stylist asked, ‘Do you even want to be a pop star anymore?’ I looked at him and I go, ‘You know, if I could just stop this train right now, today, I would. I just can’t. [But] I need to get off now because I’m going to die.’ When you’re going so fast you don’t feel safe anymore, you feel like you’re being slapped around and you can’t think straight. But then I felt hands lifting me. It was like everybody came together to try and put a star back in the sky, and they weren’t going to let me down.”

‘Black-ish’ 209 Man At Work Recap

blackish 209 man at work wanda sykes 2015 imagesIf you didn’t know, Dre Johnson is a man of principle and one of his guiding rules in life is never to forget people who helped him out. It’s his code, and if you got his back, he’s got yours. That life motto was tested this week on the latest episode of Blackish.

He applies his principle to two situations: a childhood friend named Shad, who is overstaying his welcome at the Johnson’s and Charlie who is on the verge of being fired.

First dealing with Shad, he is a starving artist who sleeps on their couch all day. 18 hours a day to be exact. They go way back to Dre’s Compton days when guys tried to jump him. Bow and the kids are not feeling his messy, stinky self-crowding their space, but Dre defends his friend and gives him the support that he needs, no matter what.

At work, the other founding partner of the company is expected to visit, and Stevens goes all out. In fact, he goes “all out” so much that you kind of get the vibe that he and the co-founder were gay lovers. It’s subtle, but it’s there. As they have prepared for his arrival, they get, instead, his ex-wife Daphne played by Wanda Sykes. She reveals that they are divorced and for a reason unknown to us, she got his half of the company, which doesn’t sit well with Stevens but is the business for Dre and Charlie because ya know, she’s black.

Speaking of Charlie, after spending some time around the office, Daphne concludes that he has to go. She shares her plans with Dre, who begs her to give him a chance to help Charlie get himself together. She gives him a France week which is two days, and Dre does his best to get his friend and co-worker to up his game.

Dre applies that same guy code at home where Shad has started to have an effect on the kids. Jack is the first one to give into his pattern of behaviors, following him around and daydreaming. He looped Zoe in by showing how he can take a short clip of her doing something as simple as combing her hair and turn it into a social media hit. By the end of the day, all of the Johnson kids have given up on their paths in life for an artistic, bohemian way of living that Bow is not feeling. I mean, even Diane has fallen victim to Shad’s enticing seemingly simple yet relaxing way of doing things.

Bow begs Dre to get rid of him and to stop giving him money. In her view, he is a bum that’s just using him but to Dre, he is an artistic genius who is on the cusp of his greatest achievement. As they go back and forth about Shad, Dre tells her about Charlie getting fired, and while she empathizes with him, he has to do what’s right for their family especially since Daphne tells him that he has to be the one to fire Charlie or she will fire both of them.

The next day, he works with Charlie, who misunderstood PETA for pita bread, which made him building a whole presentation around meat and hummus, to fix things. But it seems a little too late, and the situation is not looking good.

Later that night, as Bow tells him, again, to let Shad go, his friend comes into his room with a check. Apparently, one of his paintings sold for a significant amount of money. A picture of Bruno Mars, on Mars, eating a Mars. Epic! Hee is offered a six-month gig with a big paycheck. Even Bow is impressed. Shad tells Dre that he appreciates all he’s done because he’s the only one to see him for a true artist and not just an out of work, overweight lazy guy.

This prompts Dre to go to work the next day and show Daphne Charlie’s records. He has the highest client retention and satisfaction and does his job. She hears him and, in fact, things around on him saying that she’s not firing Charlie, “what are you talking about?”

Dre runs to tell his friend the good news, but Charlie is packing up because he found another job. He figured that Daphne wanting to get rid of him shows that he’s not appreciated, and so he found a job that pays him more for less effort. Before leaving, he thanks Dre and they have a very heartfelt moment.

Let me just say here that I hope this means Deon Cole who plays Charlie is getting his own show because he is hilarious. The episode where Amber Rose guest starred a few weeks ago proves he can carry a sitcom.

In the end, Bow scares her kids into returning to their regular lives and everyone but Diane takes the bait. Since she was the last one to buy in, she’s going to be the last to opt out.

Kids. Got to love them right? Unless you’ve seen the Larry Clark version, then you’ll have a different opinion!

College Football Week 13 Winners & Losers

College Football Week 13 Winners 2015 ncaa joey slye bulge imagesIt was a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend full of the three most important “F’s” – family, food, and, of course, football. From a Texas-Texas Tech thriller on Thanksgiving night to the late night Bedlam Rivalry in Stillwater, Oklahoma, there was plenty of college football to feast on over the weekend. The College Football Playoff picture got a little clearer yet, at the same time, it got a little cloudier. Time will tell as we head into conference championships next week. Here’s a look at Week 13’s winners and losers.

WINNERS

Iowa took care of business on Thanksgiving Friday when it beat Nebraska 28-20 and Michigan State proved last week was no fluke when the Spartans manhandled Penn State 55-16. The two teams will meet for the Big Ten championship next Saturday with the winner likely headed to the College Football Playoff. The Spartans win all but eliminates defending national champion Ohio State from the final four.

Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer coached his final regular-season football game, the annual in-state rivalry against Virginia. For the 12th consecutive time, Beamer’s Hokies defeated the Cavaliers. Joey Slye hit a late field goal, and the Virginia Tech defense sealed the win with a late interception to give Beamer a 23-20 win. The victory also makes Virginia Tech bowl eligible meaning the Hokies will go bowling for the 23rd consecutive season.

Derrick Henry propelled Alabama into the SEC championship game with career highs – 46 carries and 271 yards – as the Crimson Tide recorded a 29-13 win over Auburn in the annual Iron Bowl. With his big day, Henry broke the school record for the most rushing yards in a single season with 1,679 as well as the school record for rushing touchdowns in a season with 21. Henry’s late-season heroics makes him the front-runner in the race for the Heisman Trophy.

Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch threw more touchdown passes than he threw incompletions on Saturday in a 63-0 win over SMU. Lynch threw for seven scores, all in the first half, as the Tigers ended the regular season on a high note. Also, a winner, Memphis head coach Justin Fuente appears to be the leading candidate for the Virginia Tech job. Fuente built the Tigers into a legitimate power in the American Athletic Conference and is 19-6 over the last two seasons.

After a week of “he will be” and “he won’t be” the LSU head coach, it appears that Les Miles will indeed remain in Baton Rouge. The Tigers finished the regular season with a dominant 19-7 win over Texas A&M giving LSU an 8-3 overall record. In 11 seasons at LSU, Miles has won at least eight games every season and has an 111-32 overall record with two SEC titles and a national championship in 2007. By the way, Miles has won more games in the last five seasons than current Alabama head coach Nick Saban won in his five seasons as LSU’s head coach.

LOSERS

We mentioned Ohio State, which with the Michigan State win over Penn State, will miss the Big Ten championship and a chance at the national championship. But, the Buckeyes are not the only program in Ohio that suffered over the weekend. Toledo needed only to beat Western Michigan on Friday to earn a berth in the MAC Championship game. That did not happen as the Broncos defeated the Rockets 35-30 to send Northern Illinois to its sixth straight MAC title game. Then, the Rockets learned that head coach Matt Campbell would be leaving to take the head job at Iowa State. Campbell went 35-15 in his four-plus years at Toledo.

For all of the adversity it faced with injuries throughout the season, Notre Dame’s 10-2 season could be considered a success. With a berth in the College Football Playoff on the line, the Irish faced Stanford in Palo Alto and after taking a 36-35 lead with just 30 seconds to play appeared to have at least a shot at one of the four slots in the CFP. But, Stanford senior quarterback Kevin Hogan connected with junior wide receiver Devon Cajuste for a gain of 27 yards that set up the game-winning field goal by Conrad Ukropina. With the 38-36 win, the Cardinal, who play USC for the Pac-12 title next Saturday, cling to their own CFP hopes. The loss eliminates Notre Dame from any chance at a CFP berth.

Penn State fell apart and dropped its third straight game to end the regular season at 7-5. The Nittany Lions faced three ranked teams to end the season and lost all three (Northwestern, Michigan, Michigan State). Coming into the season, Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg was considered by many as the nation’s top pro-style quarterback and possibly the top pick in next year’s NFL Draft. The junior threw for 2,386 yards, 16 touchdowns, and only five interceptions, but he was sacked 38 times and completed just 53 percent of his passes. While he will still likely be drafted high, the luster of Hackenberg wore off some this season.

Rutgers appeared to have its second Big Ten win of the season after holding a commanding 24-3 lead midway through the second quarter and a 31-13 halftime advantage. Then, like the rest of the Scarlet Knights season, the wheels fell off. In the end, Rutgers would lose 46-41 to Maryland, finish 1-7 in the conference and 4-8 overall. Head coach Kyle Flood and the school’s athletic director Julie Hermann were then fired on Sunday.

Roger Goodell Continues Stalling, Forcing NFL Owners To Meet & Vote In January

Roger Goodell Continues Stalling Forcing NFL OwnersNFL Owners Meeting in January to Vote on LA & Roger Goodell Continues to Stall Around Issue

With Roger Goodell dragging his feet over the NFL Los Angeles situation, the owners took matters into their own hands. After Wednesday’s meeting, another meeting was rescheduled for the middle of January to vote on the L.A. move.

Do you know what that means? By the middle of January, we’ll know which teams and how many will be moving to the second largest market in the United States.

Or will we…

“Yes,” said Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. “From the way we left it in here. I don’t guarantee it, but I certainly think that’s what we’re trying to head to, and I think it’s important since we have the ability to put a team there—or teams—we ought to do it.”

“One way or another, we’re getting this resolved,” said Houston Texans owner Bob McNair.

New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch said something along the lines of they’ll be locked in the room until they have a decision made.

Of course, wherever there’s progress, there’s a certain Commissioner of the NFL trying to stop it.

“I am in favor of making sure this is done the right way,” said Goodell, defending his comment that a vote at the Houston meeting in January will not be mandatory. “The ownership has expressed their desire to get this done in a reasonable amount of time.”

I commend Goodell for actually doing something this week about the catch rule in the NFL, but you need to be able to chew gum and walk at the same time, man.

At this point, the owners are going to control the reins moving forward. Apparently there’s a decent split between the plan to send the St. Louis Rams to Inglewood, CA and the one that would send the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders to Carson. Also, the two sides supposedly have a zero percent chance of working together.

No one really knows to expect come January, but at this point it seems safe to say either the Rams or both the Chargers and Raiders will have a new home by 2017 at the latest.

‘Scream Queens’ 111 Black Friday Recap

scream queens 111 black friday 2015 images“Scream Queens” left us with a pretty big reveal this week and honestly, I don’t want the season to end as next week’s two-hour season finale is sure to tie up everything.

I am going to tell you right now, Pete is one of the red devils. Yes! I know he fooled all of us. Well, not really me because if I have learned anything during my time on this earth thus far it’s not to ignore red flags. And finding his suit in his closet AND seeing him in costume are definitely red flags. Now, I know you want to know what lead up to Pete confessing to Grace that he is a murderer so here is what went down.

Chanel, believe it or not, loves Black Friday. She not only pays store employees to let her get in 30 minutes before everyone else, but she also buys up all the hottest deals. I know, so trifling. When it comes to her Kappa sisters, she gets them the lamest, more horrible presents because, I don’t know, she likes to see their disappointment.

At the Kappa House, Dean Munsch sits with ZayDay, who is still reeling from Gigi’s head being severed for Thanksgiving. But that’s old news to Chanel and her minions as they head out to partake in midnight madness. Munsch, however, tells them they aren’t going anywhere. Who does she think she is right I mean, this is Chanel Prime, the girl who gets whatever the hell she wants. There’s no way she’s going to stop her and her crew from going shopping, so she tells her off, and they head to the mall.

In the meanwhile, Grace and Pete go to the police station to get see what’s taking the cops so long to get to the house. What they find out is all of the cops in the town have been fired because they haven’t solved the Red Devil case. Interesting right? So Pete and Grace make a vow to getting to the bottom of things themselves.

At the mall, Chanel picks out the most horrible gifts for the others, and they ask her why she does that every year. Then she does something totally out of character; she decides to get them presents that they will actually like as she comes to a kind of empathy that Christmas is about bringing joy to others not hurting their feelings. So the make their way to the local dealership so that she can get them all matching pink jeeps. Only the don’t get far because the Red Devil locks them in the mall and attacks. The others get away but Chanel decides to stand up to the killer, and what does that get her? An arrow in her shoulder. Just as The Red Devil is about to finish her off, Denise Hemphill, the newest head police officer swoops in to stop him, only she does too much talking, and he gets away.

After all the chaos, back at the house, Chanel convinces the Kappas that Dean Munsch is the killer because she is the only one who knew where they were going and they devise a plan to kill her. Even Grace is in on it, and she and Chanel meet with the Dean under the guise of wanting her to teach them about feminism. They fill a mason jar with apple cider and poison and give it to her. Only, for whatever reason, Munsch doesn’t die.

Grace upset with herself for going along with the plan, visits to Pete, and he tells her she’s not a killer, and she shouldn’t try to kill the Dean. They start to have sex, but Grace isn’t ready, so they don’t do it.

She heads back to the house and tells them it’s not a good idea to kill Munsch but instead of hearing her, they vote her out of the house. Even ZayDay sides with the Chanels. Grace leaves and they devise their next plan, which has to do with taking the Dean to a cryogenic sauna and freezing her. Only, you guessed it; she survives the frigid temperatures.

When that doesn’t work, they resort to chaining and drowning her into the school’s pool. That is a bust too because the Chanels, once again, messed things up by not paying attention which leaves Chanel Prime at the pool with Munsch alone. The Dean is suspicious of what’s going on and needless to say, is on to them. The whole situation pisses Chanel off prompting her to pen a letter to her Soros filled with insults and hate.

In the end, after Grace talks to her dad about sex and he tells her that when she is ready she will know, she goes to Pete’s place. She is shocked to find him cleaning it out, but doesn’t let that mess up her plan of finally doing it. As she prepares to give herself to him, he turns her down, and she is floored. Pete then tells her that he can’t bear the thought of her giving her virginity to a murderer.

That confession coupled with us hearing him tell someone on the phone that he can’t do it anymore while looking at the Red Devil costume earlier in the episode pretty much proves that he’s a part of the murders.

And we will find out how deep Pete is involved next week.

RIP Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots & Velvet Revolver

rip scot weiland stone temple pilots 2015 imagesOften troubled musician Scott Weiland, more popularly known as the former frontman for the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has died. He was 48.

The singer’s manager, Tom Vitorino, confirmed the death to media outlets early Friday morning. Vitorino said he learned of Weiland’s death from his tour manager. He did not provide further details but referenced a statement on Weiland’s Facebook page.

The statement said Weiland, who was dogged by substance abuse problems throughout his career, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Weiland fronted one of the most successful grunge bands of the 1990s in Stone Temple Pilots but was also dogged by problems with substance abuse throughout his career.

Stone Temple Pilots’ 1992 debut, “Core,” has sold more than 8 million units in the United States. Their hits include “Vasoline,” ”Interstate Love Song” and “Plush,” which won a Grammy in 1993 for best hard rock performance with vocal.

Amid the successes, Weiland had a long string of drug and alcohol-related arrests and stints in rehab. In 1995, he was arrested after deputies found him carrying crack and heroin. He pleaded guilty to felony heroin possession in 1998. And his arrests for drug possession and stints in rehab led the Stone Temple Pilots to cancel tour dates and contributed to their 2003 breakup.

After the band split, Weiland joined former Guns N’ Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum and former Wasted Youth guitarist Dave Kushner to form the supergroup Velvet Revolver. Weiland departed Velvet Revolver in 2008 to join the reunited Stone Temple Pilots.

Weiland’s current band, Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts, had been scheduled to play a show in nearby Medina, Minnesota, according to a local venue’s website. The website showed the event was canceled. It did not give a reason.

Weiland’s wife, Jamie Weiland, also confirmed his death to the Los Angeles Times.

“I can’t deal with this right now,” she said, sobbing. “It’s true.”

The singer rose to fame as the frontman of the Grammy Award-winning Stone Temple Pilots, whose hits include “Interstate Love Song,” ”Plush,” and “Vasoline.”

The band broke up in 2003 and Weiland went on to front Velvet Revolver, the supergroup that featured former members of Guns N’ Roses, including guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan. Among that group’s hits was “Fall to Pieces.”

The Stone Temple Pilots eventually reunited in 2008.

“The story’s not finished,” Weiland told media outlets at the time. “There’s more to be revealed and more to be told.”

Weiland published his autobiography in 2011, “Not Dead & Not For Sale,” which was taken from the lyrics of one of the Stone Temple Pilots best-loved songs, “Trippin’ ON A Hole In A Paper Heart.”

But the group split again in 2013, and the Stone Temple Pilots told the world and fans that Weiland had been fired from the band, and he was quick to speak out about this. “I’m not sure how I can be fired from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but we’ll let the lawyers figure it out.”

Weiland had a long string of drug- and alcohol-related arrests and stints in rehab. In 1995, he was arrested after deputies found him carrying crack and heroin. He pleaded guilty to felony heroin possession in 1998. And his arrests for drug possession and stints in rehab led the Stone Temple Pilots to cancel tour dates and contributed to their 2003 breakup.

Paris Hilton Seeking Some Kardashian Style Attention

yolanda foster divorces david foster rhbv 2015 gossipIt looks like the summer of splits is turning into the year of splits as yet another Hollywood couple announced their divorce yesterday. Former model and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster announced she is getting a divorce from her husband of 4-years, award-winning music composer David Foster.

In a joint statement, the duo explained, “Sadly we have decided to go our separate ways. We’ve shared nine beautiful and joyous years together and during that time we experienced love, friendship and the inevitable challenges that come with managing a marriage, careers, blended families and health issues. We are grateful for the years we’ve spent together and believe wholeheartedly that we did our best. I hope that we can pave the road ahead of us with all we’ve learned and with the love and respect we will always have for one another.”

This announcement came as a big surprise to fans of Yolanda’s show, as in the past she has been frequently seen singing David’s praises and expressing how much she loves him. However, in recent months her struggle with Lyme disease has worsened, and this most likely caused some strain on the couple’s marriage.

Yolanda’s costar Kyle Richards appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last night, where she addressed the shocking news. Kyle admits that there were some signs of trouble in paradise between Yolanda and David, but she is very saddened by the news. Kyle explained, “I do feel really bad, [Yolanda] is struggling right now. To have to go through that at the same time as Lyme disease, it’s going to be hard.”

In addition, some of the other Real Housewives cast members took to social media to offer support to Yolanda, including former castmate Adrienne Maloof.

What is your favorite online animal?

I love any dogs, but especially the animated version of [Hilton’s recently deceased Chihuahua] Tinkerbell for my upcoming video game!

What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever bought online?

No, but I will often respond to fans who D/M me.

Do you do your own social media?

Yes, definitely. I think it’s important to talk to my fans myself. I do have a team member to help me post things I want, but I mostly Snapchat, tweet, and post on Instagram myself. I love how social media means I can connect with my fans more personally and show them my life and hear their stories.

In her interview with the magazine, Paris talks about her crazy schedule as she travels the world for DJ gigs. In addition, she also opens up about life in the public eye. Paris explains, “I have such a crazy schedule with all my business endeavors that I constantly have to be on a plane flying around the world. I always have major jet lag.”

While it might be unbelievable now, just a few years back Paris was the it-girl while Kim Kardashian acted as her personal assistant. However, gone are the days where Kim needs Paris to get her into the hottest clubs. Nonetheless, it seems that Paris is still trying to claim her spot in the fame game with this latest, racy spread.

Tips for Playing Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball

0

tips for playing daily fantasy nba basketball 2015 imagesSo you want to try Fantasy NBA Basketball

So you’ve won a few bucks playing daily fantasy football on FanDuel, DraftKings, or any number of smaller DFS sites this year. And you’re feeling pretty cocky about you ability to draft a winning lineup from the comfort of your recliner while sipping on a beer.

Now you start to panic. The NFL season is running out of games, and soon you’ll be forced to choose players from just a few contests based on the limited teams in the postseason.

Then the Super Bowl will arrive, and there will be no more daily fantasy football for like seven months. Maybe no more daily fantasy football ever if the government ends up smashing the newborn industry faster than Johnny Football can end his own career.

So what can you do? I guess you could enjoy the offseason with family and friends. Maybe get outdoors, do some fishing or hiking. How about training for a marathon?

All that sounds good, but in reality requires a ton of effort on your part. And we both know you don’t have it in you.

So just face facts. You need another daily fantasy outlet. Something that can be accomplished from that same recliner.

Lucky for you the NBA plays like 8,200 games a year, so that’s perfect for daily fantasy. You can compete in NBA fantasy games almost every single day.

Checking the NBA schedule for today, I see six games on tap, then nine games tomorrow. Then on Thursday they reload and start again. It’s like an NFL Sunday every other day.

No telling how much money you can win on DraftKings or FantasyHub with all that action available.

I guess it’s possible you could lose some cash too, but how likely is that? You did say you felt pretty good about your fantasy football skills, right?

How much harder can fantasy basketball be?

Not exactly harder. Just different. Very different.

I’m no NBA daily fantasy shark but did spend a lot of time on fantasy basketball last year. And as soon as I get done lighting ten dollar bills on fire this NFL season I’m going to make another run at the NBA.

So if you are totally new to fantasy NBA balling I can help you out. I’m gonna give you some tips to get you started. Later on, I will do a five week NBA blueprint similar to the NFL trial did for ten weeks. But for now I just want to help you newbies hit the parquet floor running.

Here’s five tips on how to not completely waste your bankroll while playing daily fantasy NBA basketball.

5. Not listening to commentator narratives is important with NBA action just like in the NFL. Just because the talking heads on TV love to lick the hi-tops of Lebron, that doesn’t mean he’s the best fantasy play each night.

Listen to ESPN long enough and you’d think LBJ could outscore most teams in fantasy points all by himself.

4. Your opponents matter just as much as your knowledge about the NBA. Pick a head to head against a pro and watch the odds get stacked against you as they fire up their freaking software that shows player models with details you can’t even fathom.

3. Better have plenty of time on your hands. The NBA really does play a ton of games. 82 before the playoffs. If you have to see the action in actual games and not just the raw stats, then I hope you don’t work more than 20 hours a week. If so, good for you and good luck with this NBA thing.

2. Choose players that are consistent. The NBA isn’t as up and down as the NFL. Russell Wilson might throw five touchdowns one week then not do so again for eight weeks. Kevin Durant‘s baseline of points and assists are not going to fluctuate in that manner.

Consistency is easy to spot from players that are stars or mid tier guys. But if you’re looking to fit in in some bargain backups, you need to compare minutes. If the starter usually played 80 percent of the game, then his backup will see similar time on the court. You can’t gain any fantasy points with a guy that rides the pine for very long.

1. NBAers of 2015 are soft. I don’t remember MJ taking off every ten days like some of these stars do now. And checking the injury report is not like in NFL games. Many NBA lineups list players as gametime decisions. That means you have to be ready to change your lineup with just a few minutes to spare when a guy is a late scratch. If not then you have a player on your fantasy team that will score zero!

So you have to not only be ready to remove that player who is a game time decision, you have to have another guy in the same price range ready to swap in.

***Disclaimer for you low-lifes seeking to sue any and everybody connected to the DFS industry. Don’t bother suing me over these tips. I’m judgement proof, that is unless I hit it big on DraftKings. If that happens I will likely head to Canada or Brazil thus rendering any DFS civil lawsuits here in the States irrelevant….I think.

The Black Hole of Christmas Day

0

The Black Hole of Christmas Day 2015 tech imagesI sure do hate to put a damper on Christmas.

Actually I don’t.

I’m just fine playing the role of The Grinch on the once proud holiday that saw families gather around and actually enjoy each other’s company.

If you’re easily offended, you should have stopped reading about two sentences back.

You may be more comfortable scrolling through your God awful Facebook feed or Instagram pics. Maybe fire up Candy Crush instead of diving into an article that is about to rip to shreds the type of gifts that will suck new souls into a black hole come December 25th.

The most common gift this Christmas will be a variety of smartphones and tablets. It’s not like we need a national holiday for an excuse to add more soul stealing screens to our homes. We find all kinds of reasons to get the latest greatest mobile devices as soon as we can get our grubby little hands on them.

I’m not worried about this black hole of Christmas harming those who are just getting an upgrade on their screen of choice. I am concerned about the new users who will be getting their first ever mobile device which acts like a window to the world, but really just closes off the world that’s closest to them.

Before I get accused of being a grumpy old curmudgeon, let me defend myself. I am kinda grumpy, but in no way do I oppose change. I like to see the status quo topple. I love technology. I spend too much time on the internet myself. I am guilty as sin of letting mobile devices distract me from the real world.

Since I know all too well how much these great tablets and phones take away from us as a people, I wanted to issue a pre-Christmas warning. That’s all.

I don’t expect to stop Apple in its tracks with this post. I doubt Amazon is trembling in their boots over my message slowing down the sales of their super cheap Kindle Fire.

What I may be able to do is save a soul or two from being sucked into the black hole of mobile computing. Even if it only delays the inevitable, at least I will have added some time to the life of those who will be able to enjoy reality a bit longer.

If you are planning on buying your first ever tablet or smartphone for yourself this holiday season, do not. You’ve somehow managed to survive this long without having your face permanently fixated on a world that should not matter very much to you. Keep up the good fight. Carry on your presence in the real world that’s right in front of your face and generated by your own view, not that of someone else.

If you’re planning on getting a time sucking device for an older relative, think long and hard about it. A tablet may actually relieve some loneliness for an older person. That’s possible.

More likely. They would just waste as much as you do on social media and stupid cat videos. Maybe a better gift would be a membership into a club of some sort. Perhaps a dance class, that will have real live human beings with which to socialize. Or maybe you think your loved one would be better off sitting around getting fat as they hit like on people’s photos they will never meet or even speak to in person.

Now for the most important group of gift recipients, the younglings who have yet to own a black hole in the form of a flat screen. Just because little Johnny down the street got an iPad at age four doesn’t mean your kid needs one. Besides, little Johnny acts like an animal in public so why have your child emulate him in any way?

There’s plenty of time for your youngster to develop an addiction to mobile devices. Why not let her enjoy the real world before she eventually gets sucked into the vortex of technology, spending her life taking staged pix, trying to get attention in every way possible on Twitter, and being dragged into one drama filled online situation after another.

If I have been unclear about what gift not to give this Christmas, let me repeat so all can understand. Giving the gift of a smart device to a new user is no gift at all. You are stealing valuable time from them. You are giving them a gateway to a world that will eclipse the one they should be focused on.

Kids with a new iPhone won’t need to ask you why the sky is blue or want to play catch. They can just Google any question they have and with millions of fun apps, who wants to play ball with dad?

Your parents now armed with a new shiny screen won’t need to share stories of the old days during holiday events. They will just fade into a digital oblivion like everyone else there. No real talk, just tapping and swiping over the red velvet cake.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Current users of these devices are already hooked. Not much hope for them (us). But why drag other loved ones into this meaningless black hole?

Gifts are supposed to make people happy.

Can you say your smart device has made you happy?

Or has it just robbed you of real time? Real relationships. And a real life.

‘Survivor Second Chance’ 3112 So Long Joe

survivor second chance 3112 so long joe 2015 imagesOn this week’s episode of “Survivor: Second Chance,” at the Orkun camp Spencer said that in this game people are using each other as pawns and that he better keep Jeremy in the game even if he didn’t want to go to the end of the game with him. Spencer told Jeremy he still trusted him, but Jeremy said he didn’t feel comfortable with anything. Kimmi said tribal made her realize she needs to be in control of her destiny. Kimmi tried to convince Kelley that they should form a girls’ alliance. Kelley said she came out to win, and it was time for her to make her mood.

Jeff announced that the survivors’ loved ones were there. Jeremy was then reunited with his pregnant wife. She told him through tears that she had found out they would be having a baby boy. Tasha was reunited with her cousin Christina, who she loves like a sister. Spencer was reunited with his girlfriend and told her he loved her for the first time. Abi was reunited with her mother. Keith was reunited with his wife. Jeff asked them how they met, and Keith’s wife said they met in college in Arkansas. Kelley was reunited with her dad, who had played the game before too. Kelley’s dad said he had a new respect for the people that compete on Survivor. Joe was reunited with his dad after having dreamed about being on Survivor for years. Kimmi was reunited with her dad.

Jeff then announced this week’s rewards challenge, which was a race to dig up bags in the sand. Then they had to spin around a post to retrieve another bag and then walk on a beam holding both bags without falling off. The bags contained puzzle pieces that had to be put together correctly. The reward for winning the challenge was an American Barbeque the winner would get to share with their loved one. Kelley won the reward to share with her dad. Kelley was allowed to choose three tribe members and their loved ones to join the barbecue. She chose Keith, Abi, Joe, and Kimmi.

At the barbecue Keith said he was glad to have his wife with him. Jeff’s dad told him he never had a friend like him. Joe said growing up his dad was tough on him and not affectionate. Spencer said he had never felt heartache like the heartache of Kelley not choosing him to attend the barbecue. Spencer said he had to get his head back in the game and do everything in his power to win. Tasha said she had the option of going to the end of the game with Spencer and Jeremy or joining the girls’ alliance. Spencer said he didn’t know how many more chances he had to get rid of Joe.

For this week’s immunity challenge, they had to balance a wooden statue on a pole. The pole was made longer and longer, and whoever could hold onto their statue the longest would win. There was to be one female winner and one male winner, giving two Survivors immunity at this week’s tribal council. Kelley and Keith won immunity after Joe collapsed and medical personnel were called. They said his blood sugar level was so low he couldn’t support his own weight. He was reassured he would be fine and would be able to continue in the game.

Kelley said it was frightening that Joe pushed himself until he passed out, so he had to go; that way the girls could be in control of the game. Joe said for every week Abi is not voted out she is more and more dangerous. Joe said he needed Abi out of the game, and he thought Jeremy was smart enough to agree. Tasha told Jeremy and Spencer about the all girls’ alliance so they wouldn’t find out about it from everyone else. Tasha said she meant to create trust with them but made them suspicious instead, and that could cause her trouble. Jeremy said if the girls took over the game it would be over for himself and Spencer. He said it was crucial to have Tasha on his side. She said she didn’t want Joe to escape another tribal council.

At tribal council, the jury members were brought in. Joe said he was doing OK but not great and that he had pushed himself in sports, but never this hard. Kimmi said seeing Joe collapse was frightening. Jeremy said he felt people knew who was on the chopping block right now. Abi said her connection with Wentworth and Ciera had had her on the bottom of the barrel week after week at tribal council. The votes were then placed, and Jeff tallied them and announced Joe was going home.
