American League Week 19 Recap: Yankees Take Over Blue Jays

american league week 19 yankees winning blue jays 2015 mlbThe ups and downs of the Major League Baseball season continues as teams continue to fight for playoff spots in the American League as September approaches. This time last week in the American League we were praising the Toronto Blue Jays after winning ten straight games. This time this week the New York Yankees have been the hot team taking a two game lead over the Blue Jays.

The other American League team that continues to dominate is the Kansas City Royals. There latest run includes winning eight of there past ten games including riding a current five game winning streak. This run has helped the Royals build a commanding 14.5 game lead over the Minnesota Twins.

Then you have a team like the Baltimore Orioles that continue to find ways to win dramatically at home in front of their fans. The first of these wins came on Friday night after blowing a two run lead in the ninth, Manny Machado would deliver a walk off two run home run in the bottom of the 13th.

The walk offs would continue on Saturday Night after falling behind 3-0 early the Orioles would fight there way back to a 3-3 tie entering the bottom of the ninth. Chris Davis would connect on his second home run of the game delivering the Orioles to there second straight walk-off win against the Oakland A’s.

Fast forward to Wednesday Night the Orioles would go back and forth with the New York Mets leading to a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the ninth. This time around the Orioles magic would come on a solo home run off the bat of Henry Urrutia the first home run of his career.

Here is how the entire American League has looked over the past week as the calendar month of August approaches the final full week.

American League East: This division continues to be one of the biggest surprises in all of baseball. Entering the season many experts went on the record to say this might be one of the weaker divisions in all of baseball. The records could prove those experts to be wrong at this moment as the Yankees hold the top spot in the division while the Blue Jays hold the first wild card position. Just a half game behind the Los Angeles Angels sits the Orioles for the second wild card spot.

As we look at these top three teams each of these teams have played well of late as the Yankees posted a 6-4 record over there past ten while the Blue Jays played to a 7-3 record. Meanwhile the Orioles continue to stay in the playoff picture after posting a 6-4 record over their past ten games.

For the Yankees the team has been red hot after being swept by the Blue Jays nearly two weeks ago before losing back to back games to the Cleveland Indians. The Yankees would rebound to take game three of the series before taking two of three against those same Blue Jays returning the favor. The Yankees success continued this week as the team would pick up a three game sweep over the Minnesota Twins.

The Blue Jays on the other after finding a way to take over the top spot in the division lost ground despite winning five of eight games over the past week. The bad part was two of those game to the hand of the Yankees dropping them in the standings.

Then you have the Orioles who lost a critical three game series to the Seattle Mariners to end the team’s long west coast road trip. The team would rebound to winn four straight over the Oakland A’s before opening the week with a split with the New York Mets during a two game series.

Rounding out the rest of the division sits the Rays who are just two games under .500 while the Red Sox look to be all but out of the playoff picture. The team elected to let go Ben Cherington while electing to bring in former Detroit Tigers front office man Dave Dombrowski to replace him.

American League Central: While the American League East continues to impress the Central continues to move both ways. A few weeks back the division looked to be the best in the American League as the Royals, Twins and Tigers were putting together good seasons. Now looking at those three teams only the Royals have continued to play well winning eight of there past ten games continuing to dominate the division.

The Royals recent stretch of wins includes taking two of three over the Detroit Tigers to start last week before running off three straight against the Los Angeles Angels before taking a two game series with the Cincinnati Reds to open up this week.

While the Royals continue to win, the Tigers losses continued losing two of three against the Houston Astros. Luckily for Tigers fans the team did manage to open the week with a two game sweep over a really good Chicago Cubs team. Meanwhile the Twins managed to take two of three against the Texas Rangers as well as two of three against the Indians. Unfortunately the team couldn’t build on that momentum losing three straight to the Yankees to open up the week.

American League West: The American League West has found a way to get three teams into the playoff picture including a Texas Rangers team that went all in before the MLB Trade deadline. The play of late includes seeing the Houston Astros winning five of there past ten games while the Angels managed winning only four of ten while the Rangers picking up six of ten.

Despite the ups and downs in the Astros continue to be the top team in the division. This comes after a bad three game sweep at the hands of the Oakland A’s. After that the team managed to split with the San Francisco Giants before taking two of three against the Tigers and two of three against the Rays.

Meanwhile in Los Angeles the Angels struggled to open the last week losing three straight to the Chicago White Sox. After three game sweep the Angels managed to bounce back with a win over the Royals before losing three straight games. The struggles ended this week as the Angels repaid the favor taking three straight over the White Sox.

Then you have the Rangers who have been red hot of late after losing two of three against the Twins. The Rangers rebounded with a three game sweep over the Rays before taking two of three against division rivals the Seattle Mariners. While the top of the division has looked great the bottom of the division has been a big disappointment as both the A’s and Mariners have struggled for most of the season.

Who will put it all together over the next six plus weeks to lock up there playoff chances.

National League Week 19 Recap: Mets Still Surprising

national league week 18 new york mets 2015 images mlbThe National League playoff picture continues to be cloudy picture as each of the three divisions continue to play themselves each week. This continued this week as the top three teams in each division stayed packed while holding a lead over the second place teams.

In the National League East the New York Mets continue to be one of our biggest surprises in all of Major League Baseball. Entering the season the team didn’t receive any love from the baseball experts. Despite that the Mets have proven everyone wrong with what might be the best starting rotations in all of baseball from top to bottom.

While the Mets continue to hold in the East, the St. Louis Cardinals continue to be the top team in all of baseball as they approach 80 win.  The Cardinals continue to do it with great pitching and picking up hits with runners in scoring positions. Currently the Cardinals lead all teams in the National League with a plus 123 run differential.

Rounding out the top three teams is the Los Angeles Dodgers who continue to hold on to the top spot in the National League West. The team also continues to find ways to pull of moves to land big name players. This time around the team landed Chase Utley from the Philadelphia Phillies to anchor the infield down while Howie Kendrick is out. This move also gives the team another valuable member to help them win the division.

Here is a quick recap of how each of the three divisions has played out around the National League over the past ten days.

National League East: Week in and week out, we continue to wait for the Washington Nationals to get hot and over take the Mets at the top of the division. This hasn’t been the case though as the Nationals continue to struggles winning just three of there past ten games. The downside for the team was losing an opportunity to gain some ground on a Mets team that picked up just five wins over there past ten games.

For the Mets the week started off hot as they managed to pull off of a four game sweep of the Colorado Rockies. Unfortunately the team couldn’t build any momentum losing four of there next five games including being swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates at home. In that series the team managed to put together only six runs over the three game series.

While the Mets have been up and down over the ten days the Nationals can’t say the same thing. The week opened up with an 8-3 win over the Dodgers before losing six straight games including losing four straight to the San Francisco Giants. In those losses the team managed to score less than one run in four including being shut out in three straight games.

After these two teams the rest of the East has played themselves out of the playoff picture. The Atlanta Braves sit in third place at 53-67 after losing three of their past ten games. The Miami Marlins currently sit in fourth place after winning six of ten while the Philadelphia Phillies sit in last place winning just four of their past ten games.

National League Central: It seems like each week we start too look at this division we continue to determine that this is the best division in all of baseball. That hasn’t changed this week after all three of the top teams posted at least six wins over a ten game stretch while all three teams have at least 67 wins. Those 67 wins is more than the first place Mets who have 64 and the same amount as the first place Dodgers who have 67.

Since the Cardinals are the top team in the division we will start with how they have been able to build the best record in baseball. The Cardinals opened up last week taking two of three against the Pirates in a critical divisional matchup. After that series the Cardinals managed to take two of three against the Marlins before taking two of three against the Giants. The question we continue to ask ourselves is why does the Cardinals pitching staff get no love while all the talk has been about the Dodgers, Nationals and Mets this season?

After losing two of three against the Pirates, the Pirates rebounded with a three game sweep over the Mets before taking two of three against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Much of there recent success has been done on the mound as well allowing fewer than three runs in four of there past five wins.

Meanwhile the Cubs continued winning running there winning streak to nine straight games after a sweep over the Milwaukee Brewers to start the week. The wins continued as the Cubs would take two of three from across town rivals the Chicago White Sox. Unfortunately the team couldn’t bounce back from a 3-1 loss on Sunday to the White Sox losing the next two against the Detroit Tigers.

The Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers continue to sit in the bottom of the division despite putting together a few solid winning streaks this season.

National League West: The Dodgers continue to hold on to the top spot but the Giants have played themselves back within two games after picking up six of ten wins last week. Along with the Giants recent success the San Diego Padres have been red hot of late winning three straight as well as seven of they’re past ten games.

For the Dodgers the week started off with a bang taking two off three against the Nationals before taking three of four against the Cincinnati Reds. That success couldn’t continue as the team has struggled to score runs in back to back games against the last place Oakland A’s losing both games including watching a solid pitching performance from Clayton Kershaw go to waste as the bullpen blew it late.

The Giants have played well of late as well splitting a two game series with the first place American League West leaders the Houston Astros before picking up a four game sweep of the Nationals over the weekend. The downside came as they started a thirteen game stretch over the top three teams in the National League Central including losing two of three to open that stretch against the Cardinals. This could be a difficult next ten days with four against the Pirates, three against the Cubs and three more against the Cardinals

Then sitting back just waiting to make a move is the Padres who many thought would be the favorite to win the division. The team’s recent stretch of wins has them within three games of a five hundred record and back within single digits of the first place Dodgers. The team’s recent success includes series wins over the Reds, Rockies and a three game sweep over the Braves.

Another good piece of news for the division might be coming at the end of the season as the Colorado Rockies continue to hold on to the worst record in all of baseball something that would deliver them the first pick in the Major League Baseball draft next year.

US Weekly reports that the two stars decided to take some time apart about “six months.” The magazine also claims that the couple’s relationship “had been rocky” for some time.

Sources have come forward saying that the two are friendly and the split was amicable, as both parties just wanted to “do their own things.”

Megan and Brian met on the set of the ABC sitcom Hope & Faith, and got married in 2010. The former couple had 2 sons together, Noah Green, 2, and Bodhi Green, 18 months.

The last time the couple was photographed together was on June 9 in Beverly Hills. Since then Megan, 29, has stepped out alone without her wedding ring, while Brian, 42, was photographed still wearing his ring recently at an L.A. gym.

Things have definitely changed, as in 2012 Megan revealed to Cosmopolitan that she truly felt Brian was her “soul mate.” Adding that, “[she didn’t want to] sound corny or cliché, but [she did] believe [they were] destined to live this part of [their] lives together.” In 2014, the couple purchased a $3.35 million mansion in L.A.’s Los Feliz.

Apparently some of the tension in their marriage was caused by Megan’s desire to keep busy in her career. US Weekly reports Brian “would prefer [Megan] focus on the family more than being obsessed with getting roles.”

First Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, then Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale and now Megan and Brian, it has definitely not been the most favorable summer for celebrity marriages.

Speculations have arisen following the Teen Choice Awards, after singer Rita Ora was seen getting close to rapper Wiz Khalifa. The two were apparently talking throughout the night of the award show.

Even further fueling the rumors, the duo were seen going for a late night diner at The Nice Guy in West Hollywood the day after. A source tells E! News that they “sat at a table just the two of them…they looked very engaged and like they were an item.”

The source also goes on to tell the media outlet that Rita and Wiz headed to W Hotel in Westwood after their dinner and enjoyed drinks together.

The following day Wiz tweeted, “If your not sleeping off your hangover on a flight to France I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with you,” seemingly confirming the source’s claims that he was drinking with Rita the night before.

Head coach Ron Rivera announced the original diagnosis as a sprained knee.

“Everybody is trying to be positive and hopefully the good news will come later this afternoon,” said Rivera as Panthers’ fans held on to the last glimpse of hope for the 2015 NFL season.

Everyone that saw the injury had a bad feeling that they knew what it was. Benjamin planted his leg to cut back, and dropped without any contact, immediately grapping at his knee. We’ve seen it a handful of times the past few season on big names like Carson Palmer. The non-contact injuries tend to be the worst.

Well, as everyone has heard by now, the news was far from good: Benjamin will miss the 2015 NFL season with an ACL tear.

Panthers-Benjamin FootballNot what the Panthers were hoping for. The star receiver scorched opponents for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns as a rookie this past season, and his numbers were only expected to go up this season.

This is definitely horrible for the Panthers, but there is still some fading hope of success this season: quarterback Cam Newton and the Panthers did just fine in 2013 before Benjamin arrived. 3,379 yards and 30 touchdowns would have made him a Top 10 quarterback in 2014 had he maintained the numbers.

On top of that, the Panthers have rookie Devin Funchess, a big receiver like Benjamin who has just been given a golden opportunity. 1,000 yards like Benjamin may be setting the bar a little too high, but if Funchess can manage just 700 yards and six or seven touchdowns he’ll take enough of the pressure off Greg Olsen and Ted Ginn.

If you haven’t had your fantasy draft yet, I have two pieces of advice for you: first off, I would strongly recommend against drafting Benjamin late just in case the doctors made a mistake. You may think I’m joking, but I’ve seen people do it.

Secondly, I’d shy away from Newton. He may be fine, but I’d aim for a more reliable QB if available.

The operating system is on a gazillion computers so now Windows and its apps are the target of thousands of viruses and other malware. The same is true with the popular content management system WordPress, which is now used by millions of websites because of its ease of use and flexibility.

WordPress sites are now a popular target for hackers due to its popularity and since it shares its API for people to be able to create plugins, hackers have a grip on its inner workings. Unsecure websites made with WordPress are easy targets especially when these websites are used for commerce. Like Fright Night vampires, hackers can only do damage when they’re invited in and invitations come in the form of a lax in security.

The following are ways for WordPress website owners to secure themselves.

  • Limit Login Attempts – lazy developers hardly limit password attempts in the mistaken belief that secure passwords are all that’s needed for security. Some website owners contract their website for a small amount as possible and get the same effort in return. For such websites, the basic brute force attack where hackers will continually and automatically try to enter various combinations will work like a charm. Limiting login attempts to three or five will prevent brute force attacks. It’s the same with the iPhone where if an intruder continually enters the wrong PIN after a few times, the phone will lock itself in increasing amounts of time. Lazy users are also to blame so if they’re allowed to use generic passwords, brute force attack isn’t needed and limited login attempts will be useless.
  • Backing Up – nothing beats a good backup whether it be files on a computer or an entire website. If a hacker does succeed in messing up the website, it needs to get up and running immediately. A good regular back up should keep the downtime to a minimum. After restoration, or even before, website owners should beef up security.
  • Long passwords – having longer passwords can minimize brute force attacks and more difficult for lucky guesses. That, and limiting login attempts should work like a charm. The password should also be changed regularly and should include a combination of letters, numbers, symbols and powdered batwing but should be easy to remember. It’s a chore to bury your treasure but the deeper it is, the harder it is for others to dig out.
  • Find a secure host – all the password techniques, encryption and security plugins won’t matter if the host itself isn’t secure. If hackers know your host and manage to get into the servers themselves, your website along with others will be in jeopardy. Try to find a hosting service that takes security, internal or external, very seriously. It’s tough but it’s either that or ruin especially if the website is for commercial purposes.
  • Keeping WordPress itself updated – like operating systems and other platforms such as Flash and Java, WordPress also makes use of regular updates in order to minimize vulnerabilities. The front door isn’t the only way for thieves can enter a home. Logins aren’t the only way hackers can get in. Cracks in the software can allow hackers to get into a system and keeping WordPress properly patched should help in minimizing hacks. Also keep WordPress from displaying its version number on your website. The version number gives hackers a clear picture on which cracks to exploit.
  • Do not use ‘admin’ as a user name – The admin user name, once hacked gives hackers complete control of the website. Website owners can create a different user and grant it admin privileges then delete the admin account. With no idea on what account to hack, hackers will have a difficult time messing with the website.
  • Use only trusted plugins – plug-ins can add features to websites including security. As much as possible, download and use only those from trusted WordPress marketplaces. The wrong plug-ins can introduce vulnerabilities or even backdoors to your websites. Put that plug-in down if you don’t know where it’s from. Also, remove plug-ins no longer in use.
  • Try not to give contributors or contractors full control – aside from the owner, contributors themselves can be hacked and their passwords used to hack into your website. Both disgruntled contributors and contractors with full control can completely mess with your website from the time they were wronged or years after that or if there’s profit to be made. Remove the contractor’s account once their job is finished.

Keep these in mind if you plan to create or already have a WordPress website. Security is paramount if you want the site to live forever. Hackers often consider themselves as heroes. It’s your turn to play villain and fill the moat around your castle. Consider each item as a shark with lasers on its head. The more sharks the better.

Jared Fogle to Plead Guilty to Child Porn Charges

This right here… there are no words. How the hell… why the hell Jared Fogle? Why the hell?

About a month ago, former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle’s home and foundation was raided amid allegations that he was involved in some kind of child porn situation. Well, he is now expected to plead guilty to possession of child porn charges.

There are two counts against him; one for distributing and receiving child porn and a second for traveling across state lines to pay for sex with two minors. The charges together are punishable by a sum of up to 50 years in prison. He is set to accept a plea deal in which his lawyers agree to ask for no less than five years.

The details of this ordeal are truly sickening. Documents alleged that the leader of his charitable foundation, Russel Taylor, RECORDED and DISTRIBUTED child porn and shared it with Fogle. The ex-Subway spokesperson “knew that the minors depicted in these images or videos were under the age of 18 years, including minors as young as approximately 13-14 years.” The documents even detail that he approved of what was going on and that he paid for sex with a 17 year old in November of 2012 at the Plaza Hotel in NYC (as well as another time at a Ritz-Carlton with a different 17 year old).

As a result of all of this, his wife, Katie Fogle, is filing for divorce.

“I am in the process of seeking a dissolution of the marriage. My focus is exclusively on the well-being of my children. Neither I nor my family will have any further comment on the matter.”

According to his petition to plead guilty—which the prosecution accepted Wednesday—Fogle faces between 60 to 240 months in prison for possessing and sharing the child porn, and up to 360 months for having sex with the girls. But the sentence is likely to be a good bit longer than the minimum.

“It isn’t going to be five years,” US Attorney Josh Minkler told reporters, later adding, in response to a question about whether Fogle might flee, “I don’t think he’s going anywhere… I don’t think Jared can flee very far without being recognized.”

This is truly a sad situation.

Now the way it went down, in some people’s eye’s, may not constitute “cheating” but it does beg the question, why did he tell this woman he was openly conversing with on the social media platform to “DM me?”

His wife got involved in their “conversation” posting an eyeball emoji and tagging her husband and the woman. And speaking of the woman, she is obviously way too into herself, telling the comedian the reason she got off of Instagram when he asked if “are you on IG” is because she “Wasn’t getting the likes I deserve.” Sometimes, there are just no words to describe the entitlement people have.

As of today, Mike has blocked the woman and issued an apology, blaming the situation on his nephew whom he says uses his Twitter account to DM girls. That is so laughable because you are a pretty big star Mike Epps, why would you let your relatives use your social media?

It still seems suspicious if you ask me, but if it is the case, it’s in his best interests to limit who has access to his shit.

Singer Jason Derulo was kicked off a Southwest Flight over the weekend, and he is still running to the media talking about it three days later!  He obviously is upset about the altercation that got him and his crew booted from the flight, but he is even more upset at the fact that people in the media (and social media I’m sure) are saying his arrogance and cockiness lead to the situation.

“If that’s not the humblest shit in the world to fly Southwest, I don’t know what is…It’s a bullshit ass airline. How you going to call me arrogant and I’m flying Southwest in the same sentence? It’s an oxymoron. ”

Granted he does have a point. I mean come on, why are you even flying Southwest Jason? According to his account of what happened, he says that it all started when they refused to provide him with an escort through security to the gate in Reno, NV, which is a norm for celebrities to prevent a scene.

He says he tried to explain this to the desk agent but they kept dismissing him. They had some words, which lead to a confrontation between his people and the airline folks. According to a statement issued by Southwest, they didn’t let them board because Derulo and his people didn’t follow boarding procedures.

From what I can gather, it seems like the airline was being petty. I mean he is a celebrity so I don’t quite understand why they didn’t provide him the security. With that, the thing that has people saying that Jason is arrogant is probably his statement,

“I’m going to buy a jet so I don’t have all these problems.”

Those cost a pretty hefty penny and I guess people feel like if you can afford to get one, the question remains, why were you flying Southwest in the first place Jason?

In the post match interview of the defeat, Jose Mourinho denied acknowledging the 3 – 0 score line. The Portuguese manager called it fake and was also not happy with the referee’s decision of not sending off Yaya Toure. When asked if he felt that Toure deserved a red card, the Blues boss replied, “My feeling? Red card.”

“Yaya Toure [should have been a] second yellow but the minute was the 83rd and it was 3-0,” he added. “It has no relation with the result but it has a relation with the rules and the rules say [that in] minute one or minute 90, it was a red card.”

“If the 1-0 was a doubtful result at minute 70, 3-0 is completely fake,” he explained. “At 1-0 Chelsea were the best team for the whole second half. After our second half a 1-0 result would be unfair, so imagine the 2-0 or the 3-0.

“They were the best team in the first half. They controlled the game and create chances. We were comfortable with the ball but defensively we were quite fragile. Brendan Rodgers’ men travel to North London at the weekend as Arsenal look to pick up their second win of the season.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal won 2 – 1 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday. Giroud’s acrobatic kick and Delaney’s own goal helped the Gunners to open their points tally for the 2015-16 Premier League season.

Spurs and Southampton continue with their slow start. Stoke City held Tottenham to a 2 – 2 draw at White Hart Lane while the Saints suffered a huge loss at home to Roberto Martinez’s Everton. Romelu Lukaku’s brace and another goal by Ross Barkley were enough for the Merseyside team to win 3 – 0 at the St. Mary’s Stadium. Everton play host to the high flying Manchester City at Goodison Park on Saturday.

robert griffin iii headline tips nfl 2015Robert Griffin III hit the nail on the head saying, “It’s just unfortunate that my name keeps getting used for headlines, for people to click on stories.” I would totally agree. I get an uneasy feeling every time I see an article about RGIII.

Mr. III was referring to the “firestorm” created when he was quoted as saying he feels he can be “the best quarterback in the League.” I can’t imagine him not seeing that as headline material, no matter the context in which he meant it.

I, unlike the Redskins quarterback, know who’s to blame for those headlines containing Griffin’s name. It’s not the media’s fault that he keeps putting himself out there for ridicule. The disappointing former number two pick is basically writing the headlines himself. He’s a writer’s dream!

I totally understand the guy needs to have confidence in himself. That is a necessity in the NFL. Low confidence in any endeavor will lead to failure, especially in one of the most competitive organizations in the world, the NFL.

Having confidence is one thing. Great, just keep that “best QB in the League” thought to yourself my man. If it stays in that Baylor educated brain then it won’t make it to every sports page on the web, PTI, SportsCenter, and now my keyboard. Keep it to yourself. Then unless the beat writers for the Skins can read your mind, you don’t have to worry about being clowned nationally for saying things that are outrageous and frankly deserve ridicule.

Since III seems to think the media is gunning for him and making stacks of cash through Google Adsense on his “good” name, I am here to help. You all know how I love to guide athletes through trials and tribulations. I see myself as a knucklehead whisperer of sorts and am still trying to get my clueless baller consulting (CBC Inc) practice off the ground. So to help Mr. III keep his name out of national headlines here are 5 simple ways he can avoid such drama. These are very simple steps, but may be difficult to implement for III. I think he knows how to stay low key, but his pride just won’t let that happen.

5. Go the Marshawn Lynch route if you have to. Give the same answer over and over again. That will fulfill your media obligations and annoy the press at the same time. They may think it’s funny for a while, but will soon tire of trying to get blood from a turnip.

I know you think you are too good for this tactic. You believe you can outwit the media. The problem is that there are throngs of them and they don’t get tired as a group. They will keep coming until you slip up and top the “best QB” quote.

4. This may sound crazy, but maybe you could compliment your teammates during interviews. Talk about how much you guys are depending on Alfred Morris to have a great year. Maybe mention how well the offensive line is shaping up to be. Just go against every instinct in your body and do not talk about yourself at all. This will at the very least catch the reporters off guard so they won’t be able to “trick” you into giving them a tasty headline.

3. RGIII, you are a smart guy, so you need to use that big memory bank to store some sports clichés. Lots and lots of clichés. The more mundane and meaningless, the better. If you do this properly, pretty soon reporters will stop asking you questions all together. That is your goal, to bore the beat writers into submission, not leave them salivating for the next inflammatory quote. Here’s a cheap book available on Amazon to help with the clichés.

2. Perhaps you could play well. That would be a great start. Try to avoid aggressive throws that have a history of getting you benched. Avoid running upfield unless absolutely necessary. That may keep you from landing back on the familiar IR list. Your team has this fellow called a punter. He is available to punt the ball over to the other team if you fail to make a first down. Every series is not a life or death situation.

*Warning: If by some miracle you do start playing better, the press will want to talk to you even more. Use all the will power you can muster to avoid bragging in any way.

1. Don’t ever say the words “best” and “quarterback” in the same sentence or paragraph. Actually, just don’t use both those words in the same 24 hour period. We don’t want any reporter to get confused and create a headline that will upset the Griffin family.

Even if you are complimenting Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, don’t be tempted to use “best quarterback.”

Make us writers earn our money. Writing headlines is a big deal and requires some creativity. Trust me III, no writer was creative enough to call you “the best QB in the League.” You came up with that wild notion and headline all on your own.

Many didn’t completely write off a comeback as no other team in the world is more capable than Barcelona when it comes to scoring goals.

The Catalan giants played fantastically in the first half and the deadlock was broken by none other than Lionel Messi, just two minutes before the half time break. Barca were still in control of the game right until the 56th minute, when Gerard Pique got himself sent off. The Spaniard verbally assaulted the linesman for which he got his marching orders.

In his post match report, the match referee Velasco Carballo mentioned that the defender shouted the following foul-mouthed tirade at the assistant referee.

“Fifty-five minutes in Barcelona’s No.3, Gerard Pique Bernabeu, was expelled for the following reason: shouting ‘I s*** on your w**** mother’ at the assistant,” his report reads.

Pique could face a ban up to 12 matches following this incident. Luis Enrique also claimed that his side had no chance of winning the cup after being reduced to ten men.

“I think we played very well,” Luis Enrique told reporters post-match. “We got Athletic doubting and I could see our opponents were starting to worry. That’s what we were after in this game. We competed and made a huge effort.

“But it all ended when Gerard Pique was sent off.”

The Barcelona boss congratulated Bilbao but he also claimed that their team is still very united and competitive.

“I can only say well done to Athletic for such a fine performance. Sometimes it’s good to lose in order to appreciate how hard it is to win,” he said.

He added: “The team is united and competitive. There is a very tough league campaign ahead of us. We want to keep bringing joy to the fans and we want to carry on being a team that sets standards around the world.”

Athletic Bilbao boss Valverde was ecstatic with his team’s victory. The coach also acknowledged the brilliance of the Spanish giants.

“The first half was tough because Barca pressed and pressed and they are a brilliant side,” Valverde told AS.

“Just when they were playing at their worst they scored and that breathed life into them. From the outside it might have appeared that we suffered, and when they scored, we did. We played well from the start of the second half and achieved what we set out to do.”

Valverde dedicated the trophy to the club’s fans, many of whom made the 600-kilometre-plus trip south-east for the momentous occasion.

“We finally achieved the title that these people deserved. Everything is what we saw in the cup final when we came to Camp Nou to play a final and see how our people came up here know what drag and what the Athletic. We know what this means for them.

“The most important of my team is solidarity and that [we] will never let you down. It is a requirement that we Athletic sometimes we do better or worse, but we know that we will roll forward.”

Biggest Surprises of 2015 Tennis ATP Season

The 2015 ATP season has not been one that has been riddled with surprises. Novak Djokovic entered the season carrying the weight of expectations and he has answered the call, losing just four matches through the Canadian Masters. However there have still been a few surprises on tour this season.

One major surprise has been the play of Ivo Karlovic. Dr. Ivo, now 36 years old, has been almost as effective as ever on tour. The 6’11” Croat continues to serve up aces and he continues to do damage in tournament draws. For example, Karlovic, who turned professional way back in 2000, made the Newport final through Jack Sock. Karlovic also made the Wimbledon fourth round through both Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Alexandr Dolgopolov. Furthermore, Karlovic won a title in Delray Beach, a 250-series event on the ATP Tour.

The 36-year old has match-wins this calendar year over numerous Top 20 players, including Djokovic, Tomas Berdych, and Milos Raonic. Heading into the Cincinnati Masters, Karlovic is ranked 21st in the world at an age where so many talented players are already five years into retirement. Currently he is the eldest player in the Top 100 and his ranking of World No. 21 shows that he is not just scrounging around for ranking points in challenger events. He is a player that few will want to see next to them in any ATP or Grand Slam draw.

Another surprise this season was how the 2015 French Open played out. Rafael Nadal entered the tournament cold as ice and perhaps it was not all that surprising to see him lose to Djokovic in the quarterfinal round. However Stan Wawrinka came out of nowhere in the final to claim the Roland Garros title.

The long-time Swiss No. 2 was priced at 25 to 1 to win the clay court Grand Slam with Stan James during the early rounds of the tournament. Heading into the final Wawrinka was about 8 to 1 to 9 to 1 with most firms. By all measures, the stage appeared to be set for Djokovic to complete the career Slam but instead he received one of the most shocking losses of his career in losing to Wawrinka in Paris.

The most surprising titlist this year is unquestionably Rajeev Ram. Ram is a player that has never really been a major factor on tour. Now aged 31, his peak in the rankings occurred in November of 2009 when he ‘surged’ to the World No. 79 position a few months after winning ATP Newport.

Starting 2015 ranked 140th, Ram was as much of an afterthought for a title on tour as anyone. Therefore it was completely shocking to see his name as the champion of the grass-court event in Newport once again. Ram has often had to play quallies to get into major events however, thanks in large part to his result in Newport, he should be a direct entry into the 2015 US Open.

Another surprise, albeit in a bad way, has been the poor season so far of Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov. The current World No. 17 has long been tipped for the top of men’s tennis and yet, at the age of twenty-four, he is giving up plenty of losses to players that one would think that he would be defeated if he was in fact the chosen one. Judging by Dimitrov’s results in 2015, Jack Sock, Steve Johnson, Gilles Muller, and Fabio Fognini all appear to have the Bulgarian’s number. The Wimbledon 2014 semifinalist even turned in a laughable loss to Ryan Harrison at the ATP Acapulco event, another young player that hasn’t lived up to early-career hype.

In my opinion, Dimitrov needs a stellar run at the 2015 US Open in the worst way. His ATP profile states that his “Ambition is to be World No. 1” and that’s just fine, in fact, it’s admirable. However, the heir apparent to the World No. 1 position in the 25 and under crowd appears to be Kei Nishikori more than anyone with 21-year old Dominic Thiem showing some promise as well.

Other noteworthy surprises this season:

(1) Victor Estrella Burgos winning ATP Quito.
(2) Victor Troicki getting back into the Top 20.
(3) Andreas Seppi defeating Roger Federer at the Australian Open.

Although Chelsea’s health issues are not disclosed, Rosie’s rep released a statement saying, “Chelsea, like millions of people, lives with mental illness. It has been a difficult road for Chelsea and her family and they just want her back safe.”

Chelsea is Rosie’s daughter from her first marriage to Kelli Carpenter. The couple divorced in 2007, but share 2 other children together, Blake and Vivienne. In addition, Rosie has also adopted two children, Parker and Dakota.

Rosie and her family have been using various social media sites to share their message in hopes of getting Chelsea home and safe.

A spokesman for police in Barnegat, N.J. told media outlets that investigators in O’Donnell’s hometown of South Nyack, N.Y. had informed them that they believed 17-year-old Chelsea O’Donnell was in the Jersey Shore community.

Barnegat Police Lt. Keith Germain said that when officers went to the residence, the person answering the door initially did not want to reveal Chelsea’s presence. Police responded that they would not leave until she came out. Chelsea then appeared and left with police without incident, Germain said.

2014 and 2015 have been a little rough for the 53-year-old O’Donnell, who received unwanted public attention two weeks ago when Donald Trump mentioned her name when asked in a Republican presidential debate about harsh comments he had made about women.

O’Donnell had a major heart attack in 2012, and discussed her near-death experience in an HBO special earlier this year. She rejoined the daytime talk show “The View” last year, but left again before six months were up, saying the routine was proving too stressful for her heart condition.

Some think that the notoriety may help sell the house to people who like that while others feel that there are just too many bad memories for someone wanting to live there.

“You’re looking at a million-dollar home, so it’s going to appeal to a certain buyer anyhow,” said Chris Rapacioli, a real estate agent at Coldwell Banker in Sharon. “There is going to be people who want to buy it simply because of the fact that a New England Patriot owned it and because of all the excitement around that. But then I think it will also deter other buyers … because there will be the fear of fans camping outside the property and things to that effect.”

The Colonial-style, 7,100-square-foot home on Ronald C. Meyer Drive is in the desirable Westwood Estates subdivision. It boasts five bedrooms and bathrooms, two half-baths and a three-car garage on a nearly half-acre lot. The open-floor-plan home has a two-story family room with a balcony, gourmet kitchen and movie theater. There’s also a four-season room overlooking a gunite pool with a waterfall, built-in grill and pool house.

“It’s definitely an elite community,” Rapacioli said. “It’s a very hot market right now. There’s not a lot of inventory. I certainly wouldn’t mind getting that listing …(because of) the attention that is going to be on the property and, quite frankly, the price point.”

Last week, a Bristol Superior Court judge ruled Hernandez could sell the home and his Hummer after his lawyers and those for Ursula Ward, Lloyd’s mother, filed a joint motion requesting the sales. Proceeds will be held by the court for distribution. Ward, on behalf of Lloyd’s estate, has an attachment on the house up to a value of 
$5 million.

The estates of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado also have $5 million attachments on the home. Hernandez is accused of killing them in Boston’s South End.

Kenny Farrow, of 
RE/MAX Real Estate Center in North Attleboro, sold Hernandez the home. “I don’t think him being there and owning it is going to make a big difference,” he said. “The house is the house. The value is the value.”

Ed Pariseau, of Century 21 Ed Pariseau in North Attleboro, expects brisk interest: “It’s a beautiful home in one of the most desirable areas around.” But, he said, “I don’t think that anybody is going to buy that house because of the celebrity status of it. Ultimately it’s going to come down to whether (it) fits a family’s needs just like any other property.”

“Indeed, if one were inclined to speculate about the witness’ motivations, it would seem far more likely to conclude that her initial statements to defense counsel, made under the cloak of anonymity, reflected a desire to help the defendant, with whom she desired to continue a relationship outside of prison, and that her subsequent recantation, once she had been identified, reflected her aversion to committing/being punished for making false statements,” First Assistant William McCauley wrote.
