Dolgopolov entered the semifinal as a large underdog and, accordingly, he had little to lose. Entering the Cincinnati Masters ranked well outside of the Top 50, no one expected the Ukrainian qualifier to make the semis, let alone advance through them at the expense of the World No. 1.

However Dolgopolov had tennis fans in Cincinnati on the edges of their seats on Saturday. Firstly, he won the first set and then, secondly, he fought back from down a break in the second set to force a tiebreaker. Up 5-4 in that tiebreaker and serving, the match truly was on the underdog’s racket as he looked to secure the biggest victory of his career.

But, as is often the case when an underdog has the World No. 1 player against the ropes, the margin of error was thin. Dolgopolov’s mistake came during the rally in the 5-4 point, one that, if won, would have brought up double-match point.

Receiving a shot from Djokovic, Dolgopolov chose to attempt a funky-spinning drop shot on the side furthest from his opponent. If executed properly, it surely would have went for a winner however the Ukrainian caught the top of the net. After that, the tiebreaker went Djokovic’s way as did the third set ending 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-2.

For his efforts Dolgopolov will rise in the rankings come Monday, probably into the Top 40. However you have to wonder how long his missed drop shot will stay with him. While he’s definitely a better player than what his ranking implies, his talent has been dormant for much of the last few seasons. With a ranking of about 39th expected for Monday, he appears likely to enter the US Open unseeded – a circumstance that makes his placement in the draw interesting to watch out for.

Djokovic is now into the Cincinnati final with a chance to accomplish something that no one else has ever done. With a win on Sunday, the Serb would became the only player to win all nine of the current Masters Series events. Cincinnati, for one reason or another, has eluded him over the years including in 2009 and 2012 when he lost the finals to Federer.

Djokovic will face that familiar opponent once again in this Sunday’s final, the Swiss Maestro having survived the bottom half of the draw. On Saturday Federer eliminated Andy Murray in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(5), a match that featured an intense tiebreaker between the two players.

Murray, who won ATP Montreal last weekend, entered the semis perhaps a bit tired. As such, the loss doesn’t change my opinion of him as the proper 2015 US Open favorite, an opinion that goes against betting odds on the matter. However Federer clearly appears to have the Scot’s number at this point in their respective careers. Federer has now won five straight against the Scot and if the two players should meet in Flushing Meadows, Murray may find himself under a fair amount of pressure to buck that trend.

However the Cincinnati final is the matter close at hand. Djokovic, I’m sure, will enter the final as the favorite as he was the pre-tournament favorite and he has been the odds-on favorite at all points in the Cincinnati draw as it has played out this week. Nonetheless, I’ll keep with my preview of the tournament which held that the event would be won by either Stan Wawrinka or
Federer.

I don’t think Djokovic is razor sharp at this point in his season. There are few losses that I can point at to back up my opinion however the Serb has near-losses to Dolgopolov and Ernests Gulbis. If players with their abilities are pushing the World No. 1 to the brink of defeat then I think Federer, less lenient with mistakes, will push the Serb a little further.

The Cincinnati final goes tomorrow afternoon with ATP Winston-Salem and US Open quallies to follow next week. After that tennis fans will focus on the 2015 event from Flushing Meadows in New York.

People who oppose what I’m saying are more than likely fellow right winged, charismatic, religious, narrow minded minions who support those who’s agenda is in alignment with their own one sided way of thinking. I have been apart of a religious organization in the past who’s belief systems is very similar to that of the Duggars, which doesn’t mean I have an axe to grind but rather that I have an insight and understanding as to why these people do what they do.

So why would a right winged, bible toting, professing “Christian” whose brand is a ruse of propriety and piety (that has been debunked in yet another sex scandal) even be involved in this kind of behavior? The answer to that is multifold.

His parents were over protective, they were over bearing and they didn’t allow their children the outlet they needed to have healthy experiences for certain kinds of normal curiosities. Having to keep your addiction to porn (among other things) from 20 other people you see all the time means finding ways to hide what you are going through. Which brings me to the second reason I believe that Josh Duggar is involved in this scandal- he never really dealt with the sexual desires he developed as a result of a suppressed environment. When you are a part of the Duggar’s kind of religious conditioning, it is looked down upon to show that kind of weakness. You aren’t going to pray them away because that would require true spirituality (not religiosity) so you either just brush things under the rug in an attempt to forget what you feel or you secretly indulge in them. That leads to an altered perception, which leads to screwed up expectations and the need to always look for a way to get it.

Finally, when you spend your life getting away with messed up things, you begin to think that you are the exception to the rule and your ability to do the exact opposite of what comes out of your mouth becomes a power thing. The very fact that he was okay to champion his Christian values while engaging in activities that are a clear violation of his public image is a stark indication that his influence in the conservative ranks and other religious circles made him feel immune to the consequences of his actions. I have seen it happen first hand. These men are walking contradictions because they feel untouchable. Powerful men (those who have massive amounts of influence) with character flaws and who practice situational ethics can become delusional to what’s appropriate because the fuss people make about who they are clouds their cognition. I have no doubt this happened to the reality TV star.

If I’m being honest here too, Josh and his family could have very well believed that despite his indiscretions, asking God for forgiveness was a sufficient way to move forward from the situations that served as precursors to his Ashley Madison affiliation. I in no way am taking away from the belief and practice of repentance, but true repentance is asking for forgiveness and turning away from the sin. How can you turn away from something that you haven’t been delivered from and how can you be delivered if you can’t confess and get help?

Know that I am not taking up Josh Duggar because I believe that his abuse of power has caught up to him. It bothers me, however, that even with his admitting to being the “biggest hypocrite ever” and  “espousing faith and family values,”, there are still those who will campaign for him, all the while condemning others who commit “sins,” creating a type of hierarchy of wrong doings that are forgivable and those that aren’t.

The Daily Mail discovered that someone with the same name and mailing address as YouTube star Sam Rader had been a paying member in the fall of 2013.

Sam Radar shot to fame when his wife and him made a viral video in which Sam surprised her with news of their pregnancy. Unfortunately, days later the couple announced that Nia had suffered a miscarriage. However, the two reportedly still make in the six figures for their VLogs on the video site.

In addition to being married already, Sam’s use of Ashley Madison also goes against his extremely religious background. Through his VLogs, he constantly shares his strong Christian beliefs with the world and has many videos that focus on the Bible and being faithful in one’s marriage.

A few hours after The Daily Mail made its claims, Sam took to YouTube to post another video titled “Forgiven,” where he confirms that he did in fact have a membership with Ashley Madison.

BALLERS 109 Recap: Head-On Gets Better

That should motivate the SUV shoving big man to shake off the rust a bit quicker. Selling cars is way easier than playing pro football. Just doesn’t pay nearly as good.

This week’s “Ballers” starts off with Vernon wising up a little in regards to his boy Reggie. Reg was a big reason Angela was so bitter and was blackmailing Vernon with the photos. Spencer was pretty damn pleased to drop this knowledge on Vernon. Reggie could only act shocked and insulted as his eyes nearly bugged out of his skull when Vernon told him to get to steppin.

I don’t know where ole Reg would have to go, but as long as he was off camera, I was thrilled. I’m sure the guy had somewhere to land. Annoying guys like Reggie seem to always have a slew of friends that for one reason or another allow his type to hang around.

With the picture ordeal behind them, Dallas would be sending an offer very soon. So Vernon is about to become a very rich man. If he keeps cleaning house like he did with Reggie, Vern may actually be able to save some of that cash.

More evidence of Joe’s boss being a total dick. He talks down to Joe, making it clear he appreciates Spencer more than “Just Joe.” That’s where the boss man is wrong. Joe is a key part of the team. Spencer may be the bridge to these athletes, but Joe is cool, knowing how to fit in as needed. Dude may not look it, but has the street smarts needed in their business.

Spencer can’t let go of the fact that he knocked a guy out of the game with a questionable hit. Actually his sub conscience can’t let it go, in the form of nightmares and flashbacks. He’s not trying to hear about seeing a shrink like his neurologist suggests once again. She tells him to “nut up and go see the guy (Dan).”

I would think Spencer could have just dropped by Dans’ auto repair shop or called him. Destroying all four tires on his ride to have an excuse to be picked up by Dan was an extreme move. Maybe just puncture one tire my man! You know how much a set of tires costs in 2015? At least he didn’t go Tiger Woods and wrap his rig around a tree.

Charles got a hype video from his buddy Ricky. This little vid was meant to help C. Greane be comfortable with his move back to the gridiron. It was actually just a way for the show to fit in some cameos. Charles got shout outs from Julian Edelman, T. Sizzle, and Jay Glazer. In case you missed it, “Black Swan” is Charles’ nickname, based on his awesome footwork. Worst nickname in sports history.

Spencer tried his best to ease into Dan’s good graces as they rode back to the body shop in his rollback. Dan is a little bitter still and doesn’t want to hear a lot out of the man who put him out of football. Some Marlins tickets certainly made Dan’s kid like Spencer. Always good to go through the kids if you want to get in the good graces of the parent.

By the way, Spencer has nothing to be sorry about. Football is a dangerous game. Dan got put out of the game with a legal hit. That can happen on any play. Even though he meant to hurt Dan, he was doing his job. Can’t play at half speed or half hearted just because your opponent is exposed.

Bella got a little screen time to add some eye candy to this week’s episode. She was on point when she told Ricky he “is no better than his father.” So much for patting himself on the back for evolving.

The good news for Vernon is the $45 million offered by the Cowboys. The bad news is Vernon is nowhere to be found. Hopefully he hasn’t done something stupid in the wake of running off Reg.

It’s no fun getting uninvited to a baseball game, even if it is the Marlins. Joe is pissed and figures Spencer is just taking the boss instead.

Charles’ little one on one practice didn’t go great. It’s a bit different shoving an active NFLer around than a Ford Edge. His wife comforts him a bit and lets him know he is gonna be a daddy. That should motivate ole Sugar Tits to step his game up. Diaper prices are no joke.

The Dan storyline ended up being a decent one, especially compared to what we’ve seen up to this point in the season. He admitted Spencer did him a favor by ending his average NFL career. Dan was just a journeyman that never even scored a touchdown, bounced from team to team, and had never caused the crowd to erupt.

You could see how comfortable The Rock was in that stadium. They guy is as smooth as anyone in show business and knows how it feels to have wild fans watching his every move from back when he was a regular in the WWE.

Dan managed to screw up the first pitch by beaning a photographer. The crowd booed at first, but any reaction from the fans was a welcome one that he had never enjoyed as a baller. So he just reveled in the boos which soon turned to cheers. It was a nice moment in the show. Spencer erased some of his demons and helped a former rival out at the same time.

One more episode to go in this up and down season, mostly down. There have been about two episodes I would call really good, and this week was one of them. We’ll see what the season finale has in store and maybe get a taste of what 2016 will look like with Ballers.

Latest revelations about the controversy seem to confirm Rosie’s concerns about the danger of the man, as he has been arrested and charged with 3rd degree child endangerment and 3rd degree distribution of obscenity to a minor on Friday.

After Chelsea was brought back home, the police were given permission to go through her phone, which allowed them to gain evidence to charge Steven. If convicted, Steven could face up to five years in jail for each of his crimes.

The Daily Mail discovered that someone with the same name and mailing address as YouTube star Sam Rader had been a paying member in the fall of 2013.

Sam Radar shot to fame when his wife and him made a viral video in which Sam surprised her with news of their pregnancy. Unfortunately, days later the couple announced that Nia had suffered a miscarriage. However, the two reportedly still make in the six figures for their VLogs on the video site.

In addition to being married already, Sam’s use of Ashley Madison also goes against his extremely religious background. Through his VLogs, he constantly shares his strong Christian beliefs with the world and has many videos that focus on the Bible and being faithful in one’s marriage.

A few hours after The Daily Mail made its claims, Sam took to YouTube to post another video titled “Forgiven,” where he confirms that he did in fact have a membership with Ashley Madison.

In the video, Sam explains:

It wasn’t nearly as bad as the loss to the Denver Broncos last week in which the Seahawks gave up seven sacks, but that doesn’t mean the team looked ready by any means.

The Seahawks’ only touchdown came off a Bobby Wagner pick-six. The starting offense really couldn’t manage to keep a drive alive, going three-and-out on the first two possessions before finally managing to set up for a Steven Hauschka field goal on the fourth try.

And guess who was responsible for that fourth drive…that’s right, tight end Jimmy Graham. Russell Wilson completed all three passes to Graham on the night with a long of 21 yards.

“You can just see that he is going to fit really nicely with us,” said head coach Pete Carroll when asked about Graham’s impact.

Graham would fit in well anywhere. He had a fantastic run with the New Orleans Saints before they traded him away. Wilson may not be Drew Brees, but Graham is the kind of player that makes everyone around him significantly better, including the quarterback.

Well, if the Seahawks keep playing the way they are now, Graham will certainly have his work cut out for him. Usually I don’t worry about preseason, but after giving up seven sacks last week and being called for 11 penalties this week, it’s hard to ignore the problems in Seattle.

“We’ve got some stuff to clean up,” said Carroll postgame. “It might change a little bit when number 24 gets in there, but we need to block better in general.” He already mixed up the offensive line after last week, and they held their own against Justin Houston, but now he has other problems to deal with.

Carroll did make a valid point though that they have the return of Beast Mode to look forward to. Marshawn Lynch is a driving force for this offense, so when he takes off it makes it difficult to speculate about the state of the team.

At least we know the Wilson-Graham connection should be just fine.

VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN’s Low Expectations Trailer Hits

james mcavoy victor frankenstein movie images 2015There have been a few great horror movie trailers to be released in the last week or so, and “Victor Frankenstein” is one of them. Although this film doesn’t appear to be out and out horror, it does appear to have a dark, Gothic flare to it. It’s one of those gothic/action hybrids that steals the horror story element, but twists the content into a new genre. This makes horror fans like me nervous because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

The movie starring Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy definitely has the star power to get audience’s attention. What makes me a little skeptical of the movie (and I can’t be the only one) is the fact that it reminds me so much of the 2014 film “I, Frankenstein.” It was an action/ gothic/ CGI blend fest that didn’t blend very well at all. The gushing waves of CGI were so overwhelming that it almost became mind numbing. It was panned by critics and audiences alike.

Now one movie should never be based off of the content of another just because they have the same theme. So, to be fair, from the content of the trailer, this movie looks like it deserves a watch (unlike “I, Frankentein” did from its trailer). One thing is clear, the film has a very light hearted feel to it. There really doesn’t feel like there are any horror elements in it at all. Which is actually good for the box office numbers because more people will see an action film than a horror film.

It also has the “buddy” aspect going for it. Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy are both very charming actors who seem to have a lot of buddy chemistry going for them. So when the story line gets too ridiculous or the CGI is pounding your brain, we can lean back on the always heartwarming charm of Radcliffe and McAvoy. I personally really like both actors, and I’m sure they’ll have some great performances to offer the film.

This film is clearly veering off-course quite a bit because the monster looks more like some twisted animal hybrid than a person. Though you only see flashes of the monster, what we do see is the monster running on all fours. In the original story, the monster is a disfigured, brutal, but intelligent human raised from the dead. In this, he is truly a monster.

I’m a sucker for re-imaginings, and you can’t really tell the entire scope of the monster from the trailer. I’m not sure that Thanksgiving is the proper release date for this film. Although it may not be scary, how many people equate this story with the warm and fuzzy holiday? This alone could cost them ticket sales.

Hopefully, not all of the good parts are displayed in the trailer because there are so many action scenes it looks like we won’t be bored for a moment with this film!
