National League MLB Week 7 Winners & Losers

national league week 7 winners losers 2015 images

As we get a chance to sit back today and look around the National League we have seen a bunch of teams as well as players who are deserving of a spot on our winners list. On the opposite side we also have seen a few teams and players not live up to their hype over the past week that are also deserving to land on our losers list.

One of those clubs that have played well of late has been the Atlanta Braves as they have played themselves back to a winning record. The Brave got off to a slow start on Tuesday as the would fall to the Tampa Bay Rays 5-3 before bouncing back for a 2-1 win on Wednesday.

The success would continue over the weekend as the Braves would pick up three of four against the Milwaukee Brewers. Along with the Braves entire roster their rotation is very deserving of a spot as well allowing just five runs in the teams four wins while the Braves offense managed to score more than four runs in one of those contests.

Here are the rest of the winners and losers around the National League.

Winners:

washington nationals week 7 national league mlb winners 2015

Washington Nationals: The Nationals continue to be one of the hotter teams in all of baseball after a very slow start to the season. The success continued this week as the Nationals managed to real off wins in four of their five contests awhile allowing just two or fewer runs in three of those games. Along with their pitching the team has been picked up by the recent play of Bryce Harper who ranks among the top 5 in almost every offensive category in the National League.

Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals: Harper continued his power success this week as he moved his National League home run lead up to 16 for the season. In five games this week, Harper picked up four more hits including two more home runs. Harper is now hitting .333 on the season with 16 home runs and 41 runs batted in with an on base percentage of .471 through 45 games.

ryan howard phillies week 7 national league winners 2015 mlb

Ryan Howard, Philadelphia: The Phillies have played much better of late and a lot of that has to do with how well Howard has played. Howard is currently hitting .267 with 10 home runs and 27 runs batted in on the year in 42 games played. Last week the Phillies first baseman picked up eight hits in 22 at bats including two doubles, three home runs and four runs batted in.

cole hamels top man week 7 winner phillies national league mlb 2015

Cole Hamels, Philadelphia Phillies: While Howard has been picking up some hits, Hamels dominated in both of his outings last week improving his record to 5-3 on the year. In his first outing he allowed just one earned run over 7.1 innings as the Phillies picked up the 4-3 in Colorado. Hamels continued the success on Saturday allowing just one earned run over eight innings as the Phillies beat the Nationals 8-1. In his last four outings Hamels has allows just four earned runs over 29.1 innings while lowering his earned run average from 4.14 to just 2.98 for the season.

pittsburgh pirates week 7 national league winners mlb 2015

Pittsburgh Pirates: While the week started off slow for the Pirates losing back to back games to the Minnesota Twins. The team would rebound over the weekend picking up three straight wins over the New York Mets while the rotation allowed just four runs in those contests. Gerrit Cole improved to 6-2 while A.J. Burnett moved his season record to 4-1.

Losers:

cincinnati reds week 7 national league losers mlb 2015

Cincinnati Reds: A solid contender entering the season in the National League Central division has been playing terrible of late. That includes the teams current eight game losing streak including all five games played last week after losing all three over the weekend to the San Francisco Giants. The Reds fell in back to back games to the Kansas City Royals before losing three straight to the red hot Cleveland Indians. In the five games the Reds offense managed to score just seven runs and no more than three in any of those games.

Aaron Hill week 7 national league loser mlb 2015

Aaron Hill, Arizona Diamondbacks: When you see a team struggling it is easy to find a few players that are also struggling. That has been the case with the teams every day third baseman as he managed to pick up just one hit over his last 12 at bats. This has caused the team to use him more in a pinch hit role while the team works out Yasmany Tomas at third base.

la dodgers national league week 7 losers mlb 2015

Los Angeles Dodgers: The Dodgers still hold a slight lead over the Giants in the National League West despite a disappointing 2-4 week. Three of those losses came to start the week as the Giants swept the Dodgers at home. Along with being swept the Dodgers offense struggled to produce failing to record a run in each of the three games. The Dodgers bounced back with two wins over the Padres before losing the third game of the series. Along with the team the offense deserves a spot on the loser list producing just seven runs over the six games.

san diego padres week 7 national league losers mlb 2015

San Diego Padres: Another disappointing week for a Padres team that was supposed to be a front runner for the National League West division. The Padres opened up the week with a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs before losing four straight including the two final games of the Cubs series before the opening two against the Dodgers. The Padres much like the Dodgers are struggling scoring runs only producing three over the four game losing streak last week.

Most Common Server Problems & How To Avoid Them

most common server problems

In actual fact, one of the most common mistakes that people (or companies) make is in deciding that they don’t need servers in the first place – it is very easy to get something very similar to a client server environment set up without even having an actual server at all but this is actually a very misleading path to tread. A server operates very differently from a standard PC, it tends to be far more robust, has different types of all the common hardware components found in PCs that are more durable, it has error correcting capabilities as well as built in redundancy for some of the most critical parts of the system.

So, having a sever in the first place is a very good start but with a server comes a huge amount of responsibility in terms of the maintenance that is required when compared to a standard PC.

Initial Installation

The initial installation and configuration of a server is extremely important and will dictate how well the server performs further down the line.

Unlike standard computers, servers and very complex as is the software that tends to run on them and for this reason the instruction manual should never be ignored. Of course the instruction manual is not a book of notes but rather would come in the form of online documentation and best practices and these should always be followed at every step of the server installation process.

For example if the server is running on Microsoft Server 2012 then the best practices for that software should be followed. Equally each application that is installed onto the server (Such as Microsoft Exchange for email functionality) should also be installed as per Microsoft documentation and best practices.

server problems to avoid 2015

Don’t try and cut corners

It is always tempting to cut corners when setting up servers – especially when cutting these corners can save a little money. A good example would be the requirement for an SSL certificate when configuring and installing Microsoft exchange – whilst it is very tempting to cut a corner and use a self-signed (free) certificate this will cause massive problems further down the line and is not worth the hassle.

Perform regular and comprehensive backups

Another common mistake that is made when setting up server based environments is the implementation of ineffective backups or even the complete ignorance of the requirement for these backups.

Servers by their nature are critical pieces of hardware and tend to be responsible for almost all of a company’s business data and as such need to be backed up very comprehensively.

It is a very common mistake to simply run a backup of the data on a server and ignore the fact that the entire environment actually needs to be backed up. With just a data backup it would mean that in the event of a serious disaster the entire system would have to be rebuilt from the ground up before the data could be restored – this could take several days with each passing hour costing the company huge amounts in lost productivity and down time.

Comprehensive server backups should include a regular full image of the entire system so that in the event of disaster the entire system can be restored to the same or different hardware taking away the need to set everything up from scratch.

These backups should also be tested on a regular basis – file backups can be tested by simply restoring random files and testing their integrity and system image backups can be restored into a virtual environment to test their integrity and also the time that it takes to perform a full restore.

Perform regular software updates

Even with standard computers and laptops regular software updates are important but with server based systems they are extremely important and could result in the entire system being compromised if ignored.

Servers tend to have many components and it is important to ensure that each of them are updated regularly. This might include the core server which will need updates as well as manually installed service packs as well as applications such as Microsoft Exchange.

internal server errors and how to avoid 2015server problems to avoid 2015

Be aware of life cycle management

So the server is installed, backing up and regularly updated. Great, you can leave this system running for the next 10 years safe in the knowledge that everything is being taken care of right?

Wrong, this is the worst thing that you can do because unlike standalone computers servers should never be ran into the ground. If a server is ran into the ground then when it eventually fails it could cause disaster in its wake – hardware may need replacing before backups can be restored and also much of the software running on the system may have become redundant making restoration a very costly and ineffective process.

Instead servers should have a defined life expectancy and the replacement of those servers should be planned to fall within this period. A typical lifespan for a server would be around 3 years.

2015 Roland Garros Women’s Singles Fourth Round Draw Updates

serena williams fourth round french open 2015

The women’s draw from the fourth round at Roland Garros 2015 is now set following action on Saturday. The middle round of this year’s French Open will feature both unseeded players and tournament favorites.

The four unseeded players remaining in the mix are all on the top half of the draw. American Sloane Stephens, a former Grand Slam semifinalist, is the most proven player among those non-seeds. She’s into the fourth round of the French Open for the fourth straight year now having eliminated Venus Williams, Heather Watson, and Tsvetana Pironkova in the opening rounds. Stephens will now have to face top-seeded Serena Williams, a player who survived a bit of a scare on Saturday.

sloane stephens fourth round roland garros french open 2015

Williams, due to bad luck, had drawn Victoria Azarenka in the third round of this year’s French Open. Azarenka, a two-time Grand Slam winner and former World No. 1, appeared poised for an upset after taking the first set from Williams late on Saturday. The American would battle back to take the second set but then Williams fell behind a break in the decider at 2-0. However after falling behind that break, Williams roared to 6-2 third set win to keep her hopmes alive at the 2015 French Open.

[pdf-embedder url=”http://movietvtechgeeks.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/french-open-womens-fourth-round-draw-schedule-2015.pdf”]

Other players near Williams in the draw include Sara Errani, a former French Open finalist. Errani will face Germany’s Julia Goerges, another unseeded player, in the fourth round. Goerges is not ranked in the Top 50 at the moment however she has enjoyed some success on tour as she holds four WTA titles.

Petra Kvitova, a player with a recent win over Serena, remains alive on Williams’ half of the draw. The fourth seed at Roland Garros has what appears to be a pretty safe draw, all the way to the semifinals. Next up for Kvitova is Andreea Mitu, a player who has no experience in fourth round Grand Slam matches. Accordingly, she should be easy pickings for the two-time Wimbledon champion and perhaps a Williams vs. Kvitova semifinal is brewing.

The bottom half of the draw features two former French Open champions. Maria Sharapova is the highest seed in that section and she appears to have two tough matches immediately ahead of her. Next up is Lucie Safarova before either Flavia Pennetta or Garbine Muguruza.

Ana Ivanovic is also alive on the bottom half of the draw, the French Open champion from 2008. She’s in tough as well as Ivanovic will need to best Elena Makarova and then either Elina Svitolina or Alize Cornet in order to make the semifinals.

On Sunday, tennis fans can expect the matches on Sharapova’s half of the draw to be featured on the Orders of Play for the main courts.

American League MLB Week 7 Winners & Losers 2015

american league week 7 winners losers 2015 images

The new baseball week got underway this past Memorial Day as we say Thank You to all the men and woman that have served. Through the endless hard work put in by those it allows us  a chance to enjoy another terrific Major League Baseball season as well as for us to be able to talk about the winners and losers going on in the American League.

This has been another interesting week of baseball in the American League as the Tampa Bay Rays have moved up to the top of the American League East division. This earns them a spot on the American League Winners list. This is the same Rays team that many experts predicted to finish at the bottom of the American League East.

This team has done it with their pitching as they have allowed just 158 runs trhough their first 45 games to allow them to sit in first place of the division. This comes after an off-season that saw manager Joe Maddon leave for the Chicago Cubs and the team traded away one of their only power hitters in Will Myers. Nonetheless the Rays have found a way to win ball games including going 3-3 last week splitting with the Atlanta Braves and the Oakland A’s.

Here are the rest of the winners and losers around the American League.

Winners:

texas rangers team winner american league mlb 2015

Texas Rangers: The Rangers have been one of the hotter teams in all of baseball that included winning six of their seven games last week. The week started with a 4-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox but that would be the only game the team would lose. The Rangers bounced back taking the next two against the Red Sox allowing just two runs. The team then traveled from Boston to New York where they would take all three games against the Yankees. The hot week moved the team from the bottom of the American League West to third place.

nick martinez top rangers winner american league mlb 2015

Nick Martinez, Texas Rangers: Much of the Rangers success of late has come from their pitching and that includes Martinez. The 24 year old righty improved to 4-0 on the season after allowing just two earned runs over seven innings against the New York Yankees while striking out five. The Rangers starter has also pitched to a 1.96 earned run average over his first nine starts of the season.

brian dozier top man winner twins american league mlb 2015

Brian Dozier, Minnesota Twins: While the Twins second baseman continues to hit around .253 on the season he was able to add to his home run totals last week. Dozier picked up five hits in five games including three home runs and drove in five runs for the second place Twins.

prince fielder rangers winner week 8 american league mlb 2015

Prince Fielder, Texas Rangers: The Rangers first baseman picked up hits in five of the teams six games last week including four multi hit performances. In all Fielder went 11 for 25 with two doubles, three home runs, nine runs driven in and five runs scored. His success at the plate helped the Rangers to a 5-1 record last week.

cleveland indians american league week 7 winners mlb 2015cleveland indians american league week 7 winners mlb 2015

Cleveland Indians: Yes the Indians make our list of winners this week despite sitting in fourth place in the American League Central Division. The team played like many expected going into the season as they managed to win six of seven contests behind strong pitching from the likes of Corey Kluber and Trever Bauer as well as the rest of the rotation.

Losers:

new york yankees american league week 7 losers mlb 2015

New York Yankees: While we saw teams like the Rangers and Indians get hot this week the Yankees continued to struggle. The team managed to lose all five games played this week including two losses to the Washington Nationals before being swept in three by the Rangers in a high scoring series. Over their past 11 games the Yankees have just one win coming back on May 16th.

brian matusz orioles american league week 7 loser mlb 2015

Brian Matusz, Baltimore Orioles: The Orioles left handed reliever pitched well in three of his four outings last week it is for another reason he lands on our list of losers. In the teams extra inning loss on Saturday Night, Matusz became the second player last week to be ejected due to the umpires finding a substance on his arm.

chris young loser week 7 yankees american league mlb 2015

Chris Young, New York Yankees: When the Yankees were seeing great results early on everyone on the team was contributing. That hasn’t been the case of late as the team continues to struggle. One of those players who played well early was Chris Young but that has not been the case of late. Last week Young managed just one hit in 14 at bats while registering five strikeouts.

chicago white sox week 7 american league losers mlb 2015

Chicago White Sox: After making our winners list last week, the White Sox now find themselves on our losers list. The team opened up the week with a 2-1 win over the Indians before losing three straight. In the four game series the team managed to score only eight runs while the starting rotation only allowed 14. The team would bounce back with a win over the Twins before losing back to back games to end the week.

robinson cano week 7 mariners loser american league mlb 2015

Robinson Cano, Seattle Mariners: If Cano wasn’t the top second baseman in baseball he might have avoided our losers list this week. That being said the All-Star second baseman went hitless over the weekend in one of the best hitter’s ball parks in the game at the Rogers Centre. Cano was hitless in 11 at bats including two strikeouts while lowering his batting average to just .247 on the season.

Rangers Strike Out With Stanley Cup Finals, Lightning Win

The New York Rangers, playing in their second consecutive game seven, suffered a devasting defeat on home ice on Friday night. The Tampa Bay Lightning elimimated New York from Madison Square Garden, thereby advancing to the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Finals.

The Rangers had been Cup favorites at most points of the 2015 post-season. They had home ice advantage through the playoffs and they proved a very difficult team to eliminate from contention. Previously New York had won four elimination games, three against the Washington Capitals and one against Tampa Bay from game six of the Eastern Conference Final. However New York’s post-season crashed to a halt on Friday when it ran into a inpenetrable Tampa Bay defense.

ben bishop brings lightning to win for stanley cup finals rangers 2015

Ben Bishop did not face a ton of shots in game seven however he still posted a 22-save shutout. On a night when goals were at a premium, Bishop delivered in what has to be considered the biggest goaltending win of his career. The win is all the more impressive as it came on the heals of a dismal goaltending failure in game six, a game that saw New York post seven goals.

All the offense that Tampa Bay needed in game seven came in the third period when Alex Killorn scored at 1:54, the goal that would prove to be the game-winner. Ondrej Palat added an insurance goal about ten minutes later, a goal that Bishop assisted on.

Tampa Bay will now return to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since winning everything in 2004. The Lightning will still await their opponent as the Anaheim Ducks and the Chicago Blackhawks are heading into their own game seven on Saturday night.

At present the Lightning are considered favorites to win the Cup (Source: PaddyPower). However Tampa Bay will likely be the underdog against whichever team they face in the finals. The ‘hawks have a recent history of playoff success while Anaheim would have home-ice advantage should they face TB in the finals.

But regardless of the match-up, the Stanley Cup Finals are scheduled to start on June 3rd at 8pm ET.

Sepp Blatter Re-elected As FIFA President Amid FBI Investigation

sepp blatter reelected amid FIFA FBI Investigation 2015

The Swiss born FIFA President Sepp Blatter will resume his office for the fifth time after being re-elected in the ceremony at Zurich on Friday. The news of another four years of Blatter at the helm of the governing body attracted a lot of anger among the football fans and players.

There is an ongoing investigation over the questionable functioning of FIFA. It is the biggest self-inflicted crisis in the 111 year old history of the organization. The votes were divided in the ratio of 133 to 73 in the first round of voting by the representatives of 206 FAs. Blatter’s only rival Prince Ali withdrew his candidature after the first round of voting. Many of the major football associations of the world were in support of Ali and thus a lot of them are thinking of boycotting the international federation.

After the re-election the reigning FIFA President said, “For the next four years I will be in command of this boat called FIFA and we will bring it back ashore, we will bring it back to the beach.

“The age is no problem. You have people that are 50 who look old.”

Michel Platini, the UEFA President, claimed before the election that if Blatter gets re-elected the executives of the European organization will meet in Berlin next weekend before the Champions League final. He was in militant mood after Blatter triumphed over his younger rival, who had promised to repair FIFA’s battered reputation and serve for only one four-year term.

sepp blatter wins fifa president role 2015

Greg Dyke, the chairman of the Football Association of England claimed that it isn’t over yet.

“This is not over by any means. To quote the [US] Attorney General this is the beginning of the process not the end,” said Dyke after the vote. “The idea Blatter could reform FIFA is suspect. I’d be very surprised if Mr Blatter was still in this job in two years’ time.

“The events of this week are so traumatic for Fifa that I cannot see Fifa reforming itself under Blatter. He’s had years to reform it and he hasn’t done it.”

As of now, Sepp Blatter hasn’t been accused by the investigation agencies. Russia and Qatar are still the venues for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups respectively. Although it can change with just one piece of  evidence against the FIFA President. The heads of the most powerful FAs in the world have called for the heads of the Blatter and it won’t be a big surprise if he resigns before the end of his tenure.

Chris Brown Stiffs Royalty, Jay Z White Wash & Rick Ross Wants His 50 Cent

It might have been a short week with the holiday, but these crazy celebs have up the drama starting with our favorite limelight stealer, Chris Brown. Jay Z‘s Tidal is still crashing around him and Rick Ross wants more than 50 Cents is willing to give.

chris brown skips out on royalty party 2015 gossip

Chris Brown A No Show at Baby Royalty’s Birthday Party

It’s seems like Chris Brown cannot win for losing. First he apologized for his somewhat crazy behavior and the “Twitter beef” he started with Tyson Beckford after he saw a picture of him and Karreuche Tran. He said, and I quote, “I’m light skin! I’m always in my feelings.” Um okay (at least he acknowledged that he needs to go sit down somewhere).

Now, it is being reported that he didn’t come to his baby’s one year birthday party nor did he give her momma any money to take care of it. Um, it was at Chuck E Cheese, how much can some fucking pizza and soda cost?

This is what I don’t get about baby momma’s and yes, I do think that they do the most a lot of times, especailly the ones with famous baby daddy’s. Why do they always say that because the father is not GIVING them money for their child, he is a deadbeat dad? If he is taking care of his child, giving her the things she needs and making sure she is kosher, why are you tripping? Anyway, that is a whole other article in itself.

It is further reported that Chris didn’t show up for the party because he was shooting a video in Miami with Pitbull. Remember people, there are always two sides to the story and in order for his baby momma to get the money from him, he has to make it right?

Jay Z Feeling the Heat Over Tidal Staffing

Jay Z is about the money. He’s about making shit happen. He’s about helping his people, black people to be specfic. Or is he? Well, Black Twitter sure doesn’t think so and they have been letting him have it over a picture that was posted of the staff of Tidal, his online music streaming venture. Black Twitter and other black people for that matter are particulary upset that there were no black people AT ALL in the picture.

If you look at the picture, there really wasn’t any other ethnicity, from what I can see, in the picture. There are so many reasons as to why this is the case and this is also my issue with black folks. Now don’t get me wrong, I am all about my people, but sometimes we get it totally wrong.

First of all, Jay Z did not create Tidal. He bought it. That means that there was already a staff and other people in place. For him to come in and totally fire everyone just so he can hire black people is not the business. Secondly, it is based in Norway where 97 percent of the population is white. Let’s look at the facts and not just the surface when we see things like this. There are so many factors to consider. I’m just saying.

rick ross 50 cent lawsuit gets hot 2015 gossip

Rick Ross and 50 Cent Lawsuit Heats Up

For those that don’t know 50 Cent and Rick Ross have been in the middle of a lawsuit over an sex tape involving Ross’s ex-girlfriend and baby momma.

The lawsuit claims that Ross is responsible for the shocking tape featuring Lastonia Leviston being released to the masses via one of 50’s websites. Leviston sued Fifty for releasing it which he says that he didn’t release it per se, just provided a link to it on his website.

So pretty much if 50 Cent loses to Leviston, he is going to turn around and sue Rick Ross. Wow. I just can’t with him. I don’t really care for him as a rapper or a man for that matter because he’s arrogant and obviously petty. I mean, who does that? “If that bitch sue me, Imma sue you.” Get out of here with that shit.

Once more, Ross has finally responded to the lawsuit saying,

“…Clearly another attempt to draw attention to his descending entertainment career and one of several desperate, last minute attempts he’s made to avoid and deflect legal and financial responsibility for his own actions related to the pending New York City civil trial in which he’s a defendant.”

The sad part is, that very well could be the case. Come on 50. I thought you had the Power.

Anita Baker and Cheryl Lynn Twitter Beef is REAL

Who says that Twitter beef is just for the young and desperate? Veteran R&B singgers Anita Baker and Cheryl Lynn engaged in a Twitter beef (well really it was just Lynn) for the books when Lynn initated a tirade against Baker on the social media plattform earlier this week after the “Sweet Love” singer blocked Lynn.

She posted a screen shot of the blockage and it was immediately clear that she felt a certain kind of way about the whole thing. Needless to say, it got real personal and real petty quick.

“Really girl, I thought we were cool. I guess I should’ve known something was up when you ignored me… What did I ever do to you? Oh, I get it probably cuz I will sing you down on the stage is that it?

She goes on further to say,

“I’ve been nothing but sweet to you, and I get blocked…”We’re too OLD to be petty, just call me and we can settle this like adults. Ppl (people) look up to us. We’re OG’S (originals) in this biz.”

For the record, yes they are too damn old for that shit, but I do understand the emotions that go into finding out a friend (or someone you thought was a friend) blocks you or unfriends you on social media.

She cleared it up later by saying,

“…There’s no beef between me and Anita. I just needed answers that she wasn’t giving this was the only way. #AllLove”

See now that’s how you have Twitter beef. Say how you feel, call them up, talk shit out and then let everyone know it’s all good.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa: 2015 FA Cup Final

0

fa cup final arsenal vs aston villa 2015

With the Premier League wrapped up, all eyes would be on the Saturday’s FA Cup final as Arsenal take on Aston Villa at Wembley.

In the 2014’s final, the Gunners defeated Hull City 3 – 2, thereby capturing their 11th FA Cup trophy. At present, they are tied with Manchester United for being the most successful team in the history of this tournament. Aston Villa aren’t much behind these two giants of English football. The Villa Park based team has lifted the trophy seven times and their first triumph came in 1887.

If Arsenal register a win at the weekend they’ll become the eighth team to successfully retain the FA Cup. Arsene Wenger’s men are definitely the favorites as Villa haven’t featured in the final since 2001. Although the underdogs, the Clarets and Blues have already defeated three Premier League outfits in the competition so far. Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool were also eliminated by Tim Sherwood’s side. Hence, the North Londoners should be wary of the threat that Benteke and co. could pose to their silverware aspirations.

The Gunners’ boss has conceded that it won’t be an easy game at the Wembley but they are ready for the challenge as they’ve worked very hard to reach this stage.

“It’s not easy. I would love to do it but I’m not honestly focused on that,” Wenger said.

“I’m more focused on the fact that we have fought so hard to get there. Now we want to finish the job.

arsenal vs aston villa 2015 fa cup soccer

“Personally I am always the same when I go into a big game like this. I have always the same pressure. I just want to do it.”

Tim Sherwood has insisted that they would Arsenal a run for their money on Saturday.

“We know we are the underdogs, we know that Arsenal have been there and done that,” Sherwood said.

“They are the holders of the trophy and it is going to be very difficult for us but we are not just there to make the numbers up, but to give them a good game.

“The boys performed on a big stage against Liverpool and we thoroughly deserved to win that game and we are hoping we can do the same against Arsenal.”

In the league meetings, Wenger’s men earned a double win over the Villans. The 3 – 0 and 5 – 0 victories and the finish fourteen places above them on the table make Arsenal a safe bet.

The fate of the seventh place Southampton is also attached to this game. If Arsenal clinch the prize then the Saints will qualify for next season’s Europa League. But if Aston Villa defeat the holders, then they’ll qualify for Europe themselves.

Adrian Peterson Rants His Twitter Truth About Vikings & NFL

andrian peterson twitter about vikings 2015“All Day” is a great nickname for the beast that is Adrian Peterson. I don’t think it’s supposed to relate to how long his Twitter rants should be though. Dude has been full of piss and vinegar for the past 17 hours, tweeting about how unfair the NFL is toward its players. I guess AP was unaware of this fact until recently? He might have needed to pick up a magazine, read a blog, or I don’t know….talk to former players! The NFL isn’t a level playing field and never has been.

Peterson is taking an interest in the fairness of the League now that he is affected by it personally. I can imagine the guy paid very little attention a few years ago when the NFL was in court as the class action concussion lawsuit unfolded. The Vikings running back was likely busy working on those biceps or on a hog hunt

NFL players are no different than average folks who don’t pay attention to problems until they are directly affected. That time is now for AP.

Peterson’s Twitter rant can be summed up simply. He doesn’t like the perception that he is a bad guy for not wanting to honor his current contract, while NFL teams are constantly changing the deals by cutting guys or pressuring them to take less money. Peterson tweeted “I love people who think they know it all! Smh, Research how many NFL teams hasn’t honored a player’s contract & learn something.” He is absolutely correct. Teams can cut a guy whenever they want and will do so in a heartbeat if they see he can no longer perform at the level he is being compensated. I guess AP was getting flack for wanting to change his current deal to get more guaranteed money.

Peterson continued “All I’m saying as a Minnesota Viking player! WE need the same power to do as all 32 teams do we they feel, under contract or not!” It would be great if the players had the same power, but clearly they don’t. The NFL’s player union is the weakest among the major sports, which is ironic as the NFL generates more money than MLB or the NBA.

NFL players don’t get the kind of guaranteed money that baseball or basketball players get because of the greater risk of injury in football. So these players are never going to have the power that Adrian Peterson desires. His union has had plenty of opportunities over the years to get better deals for its player members. Those opportunities always end the same way, with the owners on top.

I get where Peterson is coming from. I am a player guy. I’ve seen this hypocrisy play out for years. A player goes to a new team and he is villainized by his former fans. But those same fans are quick to forgive their organization for shipping off former greats once they lose a step or two. My problem with Peterson is that he has waited too late to care about this unfair career he chose. Everything was fine until it became apparent that he has a shelf life just like any other athlete. Once his ability falls below a certain level he will get the Ole Yeller treatment out behind the practice facility. I’m sure this is hard on a freakishly athletic guy like AP who has used his body to earn millions and had everyone around him tell him how great he is daily. Now he can see the end of the line and it’s not pretty. He knows he is expendable and his ego is taking it hard.

AP went on to tweet, “This is not against the Vikings. I am just frustrated that our union did not get guaranteed contracts for its players.” The players are the union! They could have decided to not play while a better deal was crafted. Roger Goodell didn’t hold a gun to anyone’s head and make them go along with the last collective bargaining agreement. The NFL ballers willingly marched themselves right off that plank. They could have refused the deal and not played anymore until they had that mythical deal that involved guaranteed contracts for all. That would have meant not playing ball for quite a while and of course no game checks. Not getting paid for any length of time stops any real change the players could make. Most of these guys have huge house payments and couldn’t afford to miss many checks at all, just like the average American.

Peterson may make a small ripple with his stance against “The Man,” but it won’t matter much in the end. He should have been concerned with guaranteed money many years ago. But like the average Joe he just got caught in the momentum of life. He signed deals just like players before him, only seeing the big dollars attached. Now toward the end of his best playing days he got hit in the face with the reality of the situation. He is a cog in the wheel of the NFL machine. Once he is gone the League will do fine without him. He could retire today and would be remembered fondly as a great player. But the game wouldn’t suffer for long, the League’s popularity would not decline, and there will be another running back that creates the same buzz that AP once did.

If Adrian Peterson feels as strongly as he sounds on Twitter then he really should consider retirement. Maybe play out next year to get that last 12 million dollars and walk away from an unfair career. He could spend the rest of his working life trying to get better compensation for future NFL players. That won’t pay very well though so he will have to downgrade his lifestyle a bit. Of course that’s not going to happen. The money is too good as an NFL star and he will try to get every last dollar until he is told to go away for good.

adrian peterson goes on angry twitter rant about vikings fans 2015

I wish that players like Adrian Peterson could get guaranteed contracts that were not one sided in favor of the owners. The only way for that to happen is total commitment by the union to not play anymore until that deal is put on the table. Players can’t go without money long enough to break the owners’ will so that is simply impossible. The only thing players can do is educate themselves about the system they are jumping into. They can’t wait until they are in the position of an Adrian Peterson to start complaining about a career for which they willingly signed up. If they know what’s in store in the NFL, maybe they need to choose a different sport early on before college, or at least plan for the inevitable….they will not be an NFLer forever.

LeBron James & Steph Curry Took Very Different Paths to 2015 NBA Finals

The Cleveland Cavaliers completed their sweep of the Atlanta Falcons Tuesday, and the Golden State Warriors beat the Houston Rockets in Game 5 on Wednesday to set up a Cavs-Warriors matchup in the 2015 NBA Finals.

The Cavaliers were lead to this point by superstar LeBron James. The four-time NBA MVP will be making his fifth consecutive appearance in the NBA Finals with two rings so far to show. The Warriors, on the other hand, have found their strength through sharp-shooter and 2015 NBA MVP Steph Curry who will be making his first Finals appearance in Game 1 on June 4th.

Well, all the hype will be around these two stars and how they will play come Thursday, it is crazy to think how drastically different the careers paths of these two players have been to get to this point.

James has always been the star of the show, the next Michael, the 1st overall pick, the most famous high schooler in the country. A perfect combination of size and strength, LeBron has always been the number one guy—The King.

Curry on the other hand was tiny in high school, rated a 3-star athlete, and not overly recruited by the top schools in the nation. He was able to make a name for himself at Davidson College as an unbelievable shooter, and he was selected 7th overall by the Warriors in 2009. Once he got there; however, Curry was never considered a star until breaking out this season while leading the team to a league-best 67 wins.

Now LeBron and Curry will be meeting to play for it all. Even with all of his personal and team success this season, Curry understands that James will not go down easy:

“He’s been here plenty of times before, five straight finals appearances, I think; so we’ve got to bring our A game if we’re going to beat a great team and a great player like that four times.”

It’s the Chosen One versus the doubted one on the NBA’s biggest stage.

David Ferrer Takes On Simone Bolelli: French Open 2015

david ferrer beats gimeno french open 2015

David Ferrer has reached the third round of the 2015 French Open after defeating Daniel Gimeno-Traver in straight sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 for the eleventh straight year. This match didn’t cause much trouble for Ferrer as he has now joined Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal in the third round of the Roland Garros.

The match only lasted 94 minutes, Ferrer was made to work a little bit in the opening set for a break, but once he had that under control, the rest was all his.

Four double-faults and 19 unforced errors in the finale from Gimeno-Traver – who was looking to match his best effort at a slam with another third-round run – aided Ferrer’s cause.

And the 33-year-old reeled off the final six games to assume his place in the third round, where he will take on Simone Bolelli.

“He won convincingly against Troicki; Bolelli is playing very well,” Ferrer said of his next opponent. “He hits the ball very well, so I will have to be vigilant.”

The Italian moved past Viktor Troicki in straight sets.

Jack Sock outlasted Pablo Carreno Busta 6-7(2), 7-6(4), 6-1, 7-6(4) to reach the third round in Paris for the second straight year.

“I thought he was on top of his game today,” said Sock. “It was a match I had to win; It wasn’t going to be given to me, by any means. I finally found my serve three hours in, which was nice. It was letting me down there for a while, but I was able to find a little bit and the rhythm there at the end, and it helped me get through.”

The American hit 67 winners and capitalised on five of his eight break point chances to beat the Spaniard. A “battle of the young guns” will ensue when Sock next faces 18-year-old Borna Coric, who upset No. 18 seed Tommy Robredo. It will be the first meeting between the two. Read Report

No. 15 seed Kevin Anderson fired 21 aces and hit 64 winners to defeat Yen-Hsun Lu 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. The South African will face the winner of Richard Gasquet and Carlos Berlocq in the third round. The match between Gasquet and Berlocq was suspended due to bad light, and they will continue their match from the start of the fifth set when play resumes on Friday.

Novak Djokovic Not Worried About His Sore Male Parts: 2015 French Open

Novak Djokovic was able to pull out another win at the 2015 French Open when he defeated Gilles Muller, but this win came at great pain when he also pulled his groin muscle along with hurting his hip area. This took him off the court quickly to get medical attention.

Naturally, the Serbian number one ranked tennis player in the world still has his eye on winning his first Roland Garros title, and he’s already stated that he’s not worried about. He made light of making some long stretching slides that were a little unusual is pretty normal for him.

Djokovic has only lost just twice all year long, tumbled near the end of his second set against the big-serving Gilles Muller of Luxembourg on a greasy Court Suzanne Lenglen and needed extensive treatment for an injured groin.

That – plus an unusual incident where he lost concentration waiting for an errant Muller shot to fall long, only for it to skiff his racket and forfeit the point – were the only glimpses of the Serb’s mortality all day long. Watched by his friend, Paris Saint Germain superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he promptly picked himself up to complete a 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 win which moves him into the third round here. His opponent there is another member of the walking wounded. Thanasi Kokkinakis, the talented 19-year-old Austalian, booked his place there by battling back from two sets down against his countryman Bernard Tomic, even despite an aggravated hip.

Djokovic last night made light of his injury. “It’s nothing major,” said the World No 1. “It’s not concern for the next match, which is the most important thing. But it wasn’t pleasant. The heavier conditions made the court more wet and it was pretty slippery. I made a couple of slides that were quite, I’d say, unusual, with change of directions and I jammed the hip a little bit.”

Djokovic is scheduled to meet Rafa Nadal in a quarter final par excellence, and that match-up remains on track after the No 6 seed showed signs of gathering confidence as he played his way beyond his fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro. Clad head-to-toe in electric blue, Nadal found himself tested but still looked lively as he disposed of the man from Murcia, a former top 10 player who is now ranked no better than 154.

Only once in their previous 13 meetings had Almagro prevailed and it didn’t look likely here as soon as the Spaniard had taken a 51-minute first set. He claimed to be feeling more confident with every match, and admitted his request not to be officiated by umpire Carlos Bernardes of Brazil wasn’t the first time he had made such a plea. Next up for him is Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia.

“He’s a hitter, and his shots can be winners,” said Nadal. “So he’s very dangerous. But my objective is to keep doing what I did today. My match was a good match. I will try and continue on the same tracks. That is, to gain power. I hope I can roll out my plan.”

Elsewhere in the men’s competition, David Ferrer and Marin Cilic continue to look dangerous, Jeremy Chardy cleared the giant John Isner out of Andy Murray’s path, while teenager Borna Coric won in five sets against Tommy Robredo. Home favourite Richard Gasquet was set to start a final set with Carlos Berlocq of Argentina when bad light intervened.

Serena Williams did things the hard way in her 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 win against Anna-Lena Friedsam of Germany, but not quite as hard as Francesca Schiavone, whose 6-7, 7-5, 10-8 win against Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia took a gargantuan three hours 50 minutes to complete. Amazingly, this was still the best part of an hour shorter than their meeting in the Australian Open in 2011, still the longest ever female Grand Slam match.

The British contingent was cut to its customary one when Heather Watson, with heavy strapping on her shoulder, exited the competition to Sloane Stephens of the USA, 6-2, 6-4. “I’ve had this with my arm for a week and a bit now,” she said, “but it wasn’t the reason I lost.”
