THE BACHELORETTE: Men Tell It All & Kaitlyn Called A Whore

bachelorett men tell all kaitlyen 2015 imagesThis week was a special week for The Bachelorette. The show takes somewhat of a break before the final rose ceremony, to bring us the Men Tell All special.

The show begins with Chris Harrison talking with 17 of the former contestants, while the final two Nick and Shawn are notably absent.

The first topic brought up is about Ian’s exit from the show. They show the clip of Ian basically calling all the guys out for being immature, as well as Kaitlyn Barlow for being shallow and un-classy. Instantly, this brings a storm of criticism from the other guys, calling Ian out for being “anti-social” and not even getting a chance to know any of them before labeling them all as “losers.”

Ian does however get one supporter: Corey. Don’t remember who Corey is?

Neither does the rest of the world.

Anyways, Corey backs up Ian saying that although he doesn’t necessary approve of the way he “delivered” his message, he does agree with the content of what Ian had said about Kaitlyn (recall: Ian told Kaitlyn it seemed like she was on the show to make out with a bunch of men).

However, Corey’s moment of glory (I think he talked more during this minute than he ever did on the actual show) is abruptly interrupted when Ben H. comes to Kaitlyn’s defense, asking the question that is undoubtedly on everybody’s mind: “How many weeks were you there?”

Despite Ben H. being the last man to get dumped before the finale, he still remains loyal to Kaitlyn. This will definitely win over some of the viewers’ hearts and puts him a good position to take on the role of the next Bachelor (which is reportedly the case).

After all of the backlash, Ian gets down on his knees in front of the audience and all the men and offers a “sincere” apology. The other men seem to buy into Ian’s spiel, but before the show can proceed, Ian makes a point to tell the crowd that ‘this is who [he really is].” Not too surprising, somehow Ian’s “grand gesture” to the men had to somehow end up being about Ian.

bachelorette men tell all 2015 imagesNext up, Clint and JJ trying to defend their exclusive relationship together. At one point, JJ explains that they were just “intellectually curious” about each other, as well as saying there was “a lot of meat to [the] relationship,” which he instantly regrets as the audience bursts into awkward laughter.

Now the hot topic is brought up: Nick. All the guys begin a back and forth how he came onto the show while the season was already in progress. Some guys are furious with her decision, like Joshua who mentions how Kaitlyn previous said that she saw her husband in the room, before Nick came on. Others expressed acceptance of Kaitlyn’s decision and agree that she needs to explore all her options, which unfortunately included Nick.

Then begins the Chris Harrison hot seat, whose first victim is JJ. JJ expresses remorse to turning his back on Clint when he was asked to leave the house. He also wish he had been more sensitive to the other men, as he brought his bold “hockey locker room” sense of humor to the house right away, which he feels may have been off-putting to some of the other contestants.

What’s next for JJ? You can catch him on the upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise.

Another guy who gets the opportunity to be grilled by Chris Harrison in the hot seat is Jared. Highlighted in all the ads for the Men Tell All, Jared seemed to have one of the hardest times after being dumped by Kaitlyn.

Of course, in Chris Harrison-style, Chris makes sure to point out just how obvious Jared’s connection with Kaitlyn was, and how surprising his elimination was. Before letting Jared free from his hot seat misery, Chris announces that Jared will also be a part of Bachelor in Paradise.

The show closes out with the lady of the hour taking the hot seat – our Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe. Kaitlyn, who comes out looking like a figure skater in a sparkly sequin number, is beaming as she naively walks into Chris Harrison’s trap.

Right off the bat, Chris brings up Kaitlyn’s “controversial decisions” on the show (alluding to her decision to be intimate with Nick early in the season). This is when Kaitlyn reveals that she has been receiving incredible amounts of hate over the web, including numerous death threats.

Chris Harrison takes this hot topic as an opportunity to read some of the intense tweets Kaitlyn has received, including:

“You’re the worst #bachelorette ever in history you’re a little #whore so shut your little whore mouth #slut”

“Kaitlyn, you need to unspread your whore legs and shut your **** filthy diseased mouth and **** off”

And a message, reading:

“Kaitlyn is a selfish whore with no morals and a pathetic excuse for a human being! She should just crawl in a hole and die. I hope fans break her spirit so that our kids can see that whoring behavior isn’t rewarded…” (This, by the way was written by a mother)

Needless to say, despite Kaitlyn’s actions being controversial, the messages and posts directed at Kaitlyn demonstrate just how ridiculously cruel people can be when hiding behind a computer screen.

Somehow, Chris Harrison is able to transition the seriousness of the room into giving the guys an opportunity to talk to Kaitlyn for the first time since she booted them off the show.

The biggest topic of this part of the show is Nick (yet again). Kaitlyn is able to get a dig in when Jonathan questions Kaitlyn’s decision to let Nick in to the house, where she sweetly replies “didn’t you vote for Britt?” This pretty much shuts Jonathan up.

After thorough back and forth, Kaitlyn basically sums it up explaining that she could have handled the situation better, but she felt a connection with Nick and had to explore it.

One of the funniest parts of the show is when Kaitlyn asks Ryan if he is still “horned up,” which of course, he jokingly admits he is! He then, offers Kaitlyn a rose as an apology for his behavior (recall: he slapped her in the ass during the first night). After accepting his rose, Kaitlyn (presumably sarcastically) comments, “your hair looks great,” which unfortunately looks like a pre-teen skater boys hair (sorry Ryan, but you need a haircut).

Lastly, Chris cuts to the blooper reel, which features Joe claiming he is about to “piss himself” moments before Kaitlyn dumps him, and Amy Schumer calling JJ “Colonel Sanders.”

Now the wait begins for the finale of this season of The Bachelorette. Will it be Shawn or Nick getting the final rose?

You can catch the finale of The Bachelorette on ABC next Monday (July 27, 2015) at 8pm and then the following Sunday (August 2, 2015) The Bachelor in Paradise will air a 2-hour special on ABC, followed by it’s regular airtime premiere on Monday, August 3rd, both at 8pm as well.

Simon Cowell’s Man Up For One Direction Louis Tomlinson: Celebrity Gossip

louis tomlinson dad simon cowell speaks 2015 gossipAlthough Louis Tomlinson and his fellow One Direction band-mates have yet to come forward and address the news that Louis is becoming a father, that didn’t stop their mentor Simon Cowell from commenting on the situation.

In an interview with The Sun, Simon reveals that he has talked to Louis, 23, about the news and discussed what the future may have in store for him and One Direction.

simon cowell mans up with louis tomlinson one direction 2015 gossipSimon tells the media outlet:

“I said to him, ‘you man up. You’re fortunate because you’re in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that, but I also told him, ‘I’ve received bad calls in my life but this is not one of them. This is your business but I’m here for you.”

Simon who recently became a father himself, made sure that Louis knew that this was something to be celebrated. Adding,

“[Louis] didn’t kill anyone. He got someone pregnant. It happens ever day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him and, look, it’s a plus, not a negative.”

Sources have told E! News that although the news came as a surprise to Louis he is “super excited about it,” and is ready to be a “hands on” father.

The question that is on all “Directioners” minds is: What about One Direction?

Simon addressed this, telling The Sun, “In terms of the band, they’ve got enough hits now they can take some time off and do some other stuff they want to do. Then I hope they’ll have a bit of time apart and want to get back together again. It’s a fun job, but it’s absolutely their decision.”

With Zayn Malik leaving One Direction, and now Louis becoming a father, it’s been a big year for One Direction fans and it’s safe to say some of them are not taking all the news too well.

@Harry_Styles_Be, fan twitter post:

It’s been alleged that Louis is planning to purchase a gated home for Briana and their child in order to ensure maximum privacy once the baby is born, so he could very well have been touring potential properties.

Louis split with girlfriend Eleanor Calder earlier this year after four years together and it wasn’t long before the star was spotted enjoying nights out in Los Angeles with a string of different girls at various nightclubs and parties.

louis tomlinson one direction tour 2015Briana, who is alleged to be around 12 weeks pregnant with his child was a constant fixture, however, and the pair are said to have enjoyed a brief relationship in May.

The LA-based budding stylist and 1D heartthrob are no longer a couple but they are thought to be expecting their child in 2016.

Tomlinson is already back on tour with One Direction so you can be sure he’ll get plenty of baby items tossed at him while singing certain songs.

blake shelton ends with miranda lamber 2015 gossipAfter four years of marriage, country music stars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have announced they are getting divorced.

The former couple released a statement saying:

“This is not the future we envisioned and it is with a heavy heart that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

Blake Shelton, 39, wed Miranda Lambert, 31, back in 2011 and since than they have become one of the most powerful couples in country music.

However, according to TMZ, Blake filed the divorce documents a while ago, which makes sense seeing that they were last photographed together back in April (at the 50th American Country Music Awards).

Many people are surprised by their announcement, as just a few months ago, Lambert opened up to E! News about how they make their relationship work, saying, “…We make sure that our time together matters, so when we’re apart, it’s not really a big deal because we know when we’re together, we’re really together.”

Unfortunately, while the couple undoubtedly had its share of good times together, they were not immune to controversy. The two were constantly on the cover of tabloids claiming they were divorcing, fighting and even that Shelton had cheated on Lambert.

Nonetheless, up until now, it seemed the two defied these rumors, even poking fun at them, as seen in their 2013 twitter exchange.

Blake Shelton, twitter post:

Miranda Lambert, twitter post:

Although Blake and Miranda do not share any children together, this break-up will no doubt be difficult for both country stars (as well as the couple’s die-hard fans).

It looks like Shelton is using his brand of humor to deal with the breakup, joking on Twitter: “Just got off the treadmill. This calls for a drink. Bitch…”

Arturo Vidal Officially With Bayern Munich

0

Arturo Vidal joins bayern munich 2015 soccerDeals are moving really fast in the soccer world, and Arturo Vidal just made his deal official with Bayern Munich after getting the goodbye from Juventus.

Arturo Vidal is joining Bayern Munich after his club, Juventus, agreed a €37m (£25.9m) fee for the midfielder with a further £2.1m in add-ons. The Chilean midfielder has agreed a four-year deal worth £90,000 a week and will leave Turin after four years and four Serie A titles.

Vidal, 28, starred for Chile as they won the Copa America for the first-time ever this summer, but the man they call “King Arthur” has told Juventus he wants to leave the reigning Italian champions and head back to the Bundesliga.

Juventus’ chief executive Beppe Marotta confirmed on Monday, see below, that Vidal has asked to leave and it is believed an initial fee of $40 million has been agreed between the two clubs with adds-on taking the deal to $43.2 million.

Vidal was involved in controversy this summer as he crashed his Ferrari in Santiago, Chile during the Copa America tournament and was arrested for DUI. He returned to the field of play after that incident and helped Chile to glory, with his powerful runs forward, tough-tackling and pinpoint passes key to his rise as one of European soccer’s top midfielders.

Vidal will now travel to Munich to have a medical and Bayern expect to announce the deal before the weekend. The German champions have been looking for a long-term replacement for Franck Ribéry, who has been struggling with injuries over the past 18 months, and concluded a deal for Vidal on Monday after a week of negotiations. Vidal’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, has been in Munich to finalise the deal, which will lead to a return to the Bundesliga for Vidal, who had a spell with Bayer Leverkusen between 2007 and 2011.

Bayern Munich have already signed the Brazilian attacking midfielder Douglas Costa from Shakhtar Donetsk for £21.3m with Bastian Schweinsteiger joining Manchester United.

It has been a summer of upheaval at Juventus with Carlos Tevez and now Vidal leaving and Mario Mandzukic, Sami Khedira and Paulo Dybala coming in. The Champions League finalists have now entered negotiations with Schalke to sign Julian Draxler to add to the manager Massimiliano Allegri’s options in midfield.

World Soccer Deal & Steals: Arturo Vidal about to seal Bayern move

Karim Benzema denied an opportunity to join Manchester United last month but the Frenchman hasn’t completely shut the doors for a move to the Premier League. Apparently, the French manager, Arsene Wenger, is keen to bring his compatriot to Arsenal and according to reports he hasn’t received a negative response from Wenger’s entourage.

According to Spain’s El Confidencial, the former Lyon forward is waiting for Rafa Benitez. It is believed that the Real Madrid chief, Florentino Perez, wants the Spanish manager to utilize Gareth Bale as much as he can. Benzema could be pushed to the bench and hence joining the Gunners could be a lucrative offer for him. He’ll join forces with his former teammate Mesut Ozil at the North London club and he is certainly capable of solving the inconsistency problem in the goal scoring department at the club.

Last month, Corinthians President Roberto De Andrade went on to claim that he is praying to sell off Alexandre Pato.

“I regret buying him,” De Andrade reportedly told ESPN Brazil.

“But the failure is his own fault. At the time no-one was against it. Everyone knows that we’re praying day and night, hoping to sell him.”

The 25-year-old made his name in the Serie A and was touted to be one of the biggest talents in world football. But Pato’s quality has worn out much faster than his former club, AC Milan. Many interested clubs must have taken De Andrade’s words to be a worst case scenario that they can expect.

According to sources in England, Pato has been offered to mid-table teams in the Premier League. The player is reportedly interested in a move to the bigger cities in UK. Crystal Palace and West Ham are looking forward to have more firepower in the attack. Many teams would consider his ‘51 leagues goals in 117 Serie A games’ record for Milan before bringing him to the English top division. Moreover, Corinthians are very willing to sell the player and hence the deal might be finalized for a very less amount.

Bayern Munich have agreed a deal with Juventus for the Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal. Vidal will sign a four year deal with the Bavarian giants after completing the £25.9m move with a further £2.1m in add-ons. He’ll earn close to £90,000 a week in his second stint in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich are expected to announce the signing by the end of this week as the player will soon undergo medical in Munich. The German champions wanted to sign the Chilean in 2011 from Bayer Leverkusen but he moved to Turin instead after which then-president Uli Hoeness criticised him for “breaking his word”

Pep Guardiola believes Vidal be the ideal fit to fill the void left by Schweinsteiger at the Allianz Arena. The 28-year-old’s contract with Juve ends in June 2017 but Vidal has already accomplished a lot in his four years with Bianconeri. Vidal has helped the club to win four straight Serie A titles and was a crucial player in the team’s run to the final of the Champions League last year.

Jackie said she felt alone now that Jeff was evicted. Liz told Austin she had imagined herself winning the head of household competition. Austin said shady things were going on this week and one of the other house guests had lied right to his face.

Liz told Austin it was good he didn’t win the head of household competition last week because it would have made him a target for eviction. Steve said he was going to throw the head of household competition but he didn’t. Jason said it was stupid that he was nominated for eviction every week. He said no one would fight to defend him or be upset if he went home.

Liz said she was going to keep an eye on Jason and John because they were on to her and Julia being twins. Shelli read a letter from home with the other house guests. Shelli said she was nominating them because she didn’t have many choices and told Jason she put him up because she thought he would come after her otherwise and if he didn’t plan to he needed to talk to her about it. Jason said he was angry and there was no proof he would go after Shelli and Clay.

Jackie said she wasn’t sure where Liz’s head was because she hadn’t talked game with her yet. Liz wouldn’t tell Jackie who the other target in the house was. She also said Jackie hadn’t made a connection with her so she wasn’t going to tell her who is the main target in the game right now. Liz vented to Austin about Jackie wanting to get close to her now.

Tyrese Call Out, Bill Cosby Over & Blake Shelton Divorces Miranda Lambert

The week has just begun, but sadly, the sun has set on country power couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert who were like the country version of Jay Z and Beyonce to me. Tyrese Gibson calls out LA radio stations and the final nails are set in Bill Cosby dead career.

tyrese gibson la radio 2015 gossipTyrese Gibson Calls out Los Angeles Radio Stations

If you don’t know who Tyrese is, you need to get with the program. Over 20 years ago he busted on the scene in a Coca Cola commercial and has not slowed down since. From movies to modeling to singing, he is one of the hardest working men in show business.

With that, in his approach to his latest album Black Rose he has gone totally independent. It has it’s challenges and one of them according to Tyrese, is that mainstream stations like Kiss FM and Z-100 don’t play urban music as much as they play pop music. He argues that while the predominately white stations (he didn’t use that term but that’s pretty much what he meant) don’t give much love to black artists whose songs are hella good and making waves in the music industry, white artists who sing R&B more easily get love from black stations as well as pop stations giving them a broader reach.

In a Facebook note, he posed the questions, “Do you think there is a lack of diversity in radio? Is mainstream radio really being fair with their approach?” He brings up a good point in his quest to push his music independently. It is a lot easier to get play on the big stations when you have a record company behind you and it shouldn’t be that way.

I have to really hand it to Tyrese. He handled it with all kinds of “dignity.” He was respectful and said what he had to say without saying what other would have. The numbers for his new album look good and in the first week he has sold almost 100,000 copies. I think what he is doing is commendable and while it is definitely easier for someone like him (being an actor, singer etc.) it is a great example to follow for those looking to do things independently.

bill cosby deposition ends everything for him 2015 gossipBill Cosby’s Full Deposition Reveals What We Already Knew

The saga that is Bill Cosby’s sexual misconduct just continues get more and more twisted. The most recent developments in his story is that not only did he seduce young women, he did so because he was famous and because of drugs.

The details of a deposition revealed that he promised women things like his mentorship and career advice. And of course he sought to use his financial means to keep all of this from his wife. He admitted to doing these things and more over ten years ago and yet then and still now, does not consider himself a sexual predator. Once more, he presented himself as someone who was just going with the flow of what other men of his age and stature of the time did.

As the deposition shows, he has a long history of having his way with women that speaks to a larger issue. He obviously doesn’t respect women.

Now, I think it is fair to say that not every woman he came in contact with sexually was drugged or taken advantage of. Let’s be honest here, a lot of people are willing to do certain things with certain people to get to a certain place. But at the same time that does not take away from the fact that he admitted to using drugs to get what he wanted from some who were not willing to do “certain things.”

At this point in the game, I don’t think there is really any fixing the damage that has been done to his reputation and his legacy.

demi moore pool dead manDemi Moore Finds Dead Man in Her Pool

It’s what Hollywood stories are made of. A dead man was found in the pool of actress Demi Moore home, having drowned. The details of the situation are forth coming but those that have come forth seem a little sketchy if you ask me.

According to reports, the man was at the house because Demi’s caretaker threw a party. No I don’t know what caretaker means either. He apparently could not swim and somehow someway slipped and fell in the pool. For, whatever reason, when everyone else left at some point during the party, he stayed behind and that is when the deed happened. Soooo how do they know he slipped and fell in the pool?

Now am I the only one who thinks this sounds kind of funky? I mean why is someone who is invited to another person’s house by someone who doesn’t even own the place staying behind when the host and everyone else leaves?

It is reported that Demi no her kids were home when it happened.

blake shelton miranda lambert divorce 2015Blake Shelton Officially Divorces Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert fans had an early warning sign that trouble was brewing at her Cheyenne Frontier Days concert in Wyoming when the country star literally had to stop halfway through her performance of “The House That Built Me” as she struggled to fight back tears.

“The last thing someone wants to do is cry in front of 19,000 people,” she said, asking the crowd to help her finish singing the ballad.

Originally written for Shelton, 39, to record, he played the song for his then-fiancée while driving down the road one night. After hearing the lyrics she burst into tears, feeling an undeniable connection to the lyrics. “I took one look at her and just said, ‘If you have this strong of a reaction to a song, you need to record it!’” Lambert has recounted that story many times in press interviews.

If fans had looked even closer, they would have noticed that she performed the concert without her wedding band. News had been brewing for some time that there was trouble with the country version of Jay Z and Beyonce, but they were able to keep it officially under wraps until the divorce was finalized on Monday.

Shelton filed for the divorce, and the couple released the following statement:

“This is not the future we envisioned,” the former couple announced in a joint statement. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

How Will Windows 10 Revive the PC Industry If It Runs On Old PCs?

0

windows revive pc industry on old pcs 2015 tech imagesAside from acting like a nagging piece of shareware, Windows Vista had one serious flaw when it was released. Though through no fault of its own, it was a resource hog, released on new computers that couldn’t run some features that mattered. The newer operating system crawled where Windows XP trotted. It was later improved yet still much maligned. But Windows 10 is a different story. Built from the recent faux pas that was Windows 8, Windows 10 inherits from 8’s best quality. It’s ability to work well even on older PCs. But through the one-two punch that was Windows Vista and Windows 8 and the popularity of more mobile tablet computing, the once almost unstoppable PC industry hit a wall. It’s now up to Windows 10 to pick up the pieces. But how can it if it’s designed to allow users to keep their old hardware?

Back to Windows 7, it was the OS that Vista was meant to be and became Microsoft’s safety net, but it hasn’t gained the traction it was meant to have. Many businesses and government offices stuck with XP waiting for the next worthy offering. Even the US Navy paid Microsoft to continue supporting its Windows XP hardware. Windows 8 unfortunately became another box office bomb for Microsoft and the PC industry. It’s defining ‘feature’, bringing together tablet and desktop computing was seen as a serious flaw by a larger percentage of users than Microsoft would like. What many did not see other than the missing Start Menu, was its better performance. Windows 8 was faster than Windows XP and Windows 7 on the same hardware specs. It felt more responsive. It booted faster. However, its schizophrenic nature got the better of it and Microsoft once again had to scramble to get it right. So now we have Windows 10. There’s no Windows 9 because 7 eight it.

Again, what’s best about Windows 10 is that it can run on older hardware. As long as there’s 1GB of RAM (32-bit system), 16GB disk space and 1GHz processing power, Windows 10 should work. Older pre-tablet netbooks which became popular back then and often contained Windows 7 Starter Edition, would be given a new lease on life with Windows 10. In short, if your computer ran Windows 7, it should be able to run Windows 10. Even PCs that ran Windows Vista can run Windows 10. Microsoft even offered to upgrade Windows 7 and 8.1 machines to Windows 10 for free. XP is getting slow, unsecure and dated so if only for security, upgrading to Windows 10 would be the right choice. Microsoft also ended support for Windows 7 so there’s really only two options. Move to Windows 8.1 or straight to 10. The third unrelated option would be to move to Linux or OS X, but doing so just because of UI gripes would be contrary to the point.

The whole concept of being able to upgrade to a new operating system without buying new hardware is somewhat enticing especially during these trying economic times. Windows XP, 7 and 8 users won’t feel left out or technologically backwards. But that same concept would not sit well with the struggling PC industry. The industry that now resorts to bloatware agreements to get as much revenue as possible. It’s a noble concept for Microsoft to allow as many users to enjoy Windows 10 as possible but it may be more of a marketing strategy to actually uplift the PC industry which is where the company gets most of its revenue.

If Windows 10 lives up to its promises, Windows XP and Windows 7 holdouts in both the private and public sectors would move on and upgrade. If their test units and their business software run fine under Windows 10, many people will begin upgrading their computers or buy new ones, loaded with Windows 10.

Older PCs will run Windows 10 but won’t be able to take advantage of Windows 10’s features such as Cortana, Windows Hello, Continuum, Aero, X-Box and Windows Phone integration, Candy Crush Saga, Hyper-V and DirectX 12. Speaking of Candy Crush Saga, like the addicting drug that it is (and other popular games that could pop up at the Windows Store), could entice users to upgrade to ultrabooks and hybrids. New entry-level computers will still be able to take advantage of most of the features and holdouts might be finally convinced to move on.

In summary, the promise of a free upgrade and being able to use Windows 10 on older PCs is actually bait for Microsoft to reel back the users it lost due to mistakes of the past and bring users back to a more productive PC environment. Anyway, if Windows 10 can run on older hardware, wouldn’t it be zippier and enjoyable to work with on new ones?

Didier Drogba might join Kaka, Gerrard, Lampard and Pirlo in MLS

0

didier drogba may join mls soccer 2015 imagesThe Major League Soccer attracts big names each summer and this year we’ll witness some of the greatest legends of the sport plying their trade in the United States.

A few seasons ago it was impossible to imagine Gerrard leaving Liverpool for any other club. The club legend was expected to hang up his boots at Anfield but Brendan Rodgers needed to replace the aging skipper from the midfield. The Englishman can still contribute to football in a league with comparatively lower intensity and physicality than the Premier League. Gerrard’s move to L.A. Galaxy could be a very successful one and he has already adapted to the new role. He’s off the mark at the MLS giants and is linking quite well with his new teammates.

Frank Lampard could’ve spent the last season at New York City FC but the Chelsea legend had no other option than to play at the Etihad. The former England midfielder even netted against his former club and in his 38 appearances in all competitions, the NYCFC number 8 scored 8 goals. Lampard will be joined by another legendary midfielder from Italy. Andrea Pirlo led Juventus to the Champions League final last season and he is now ready for the new challenge after winning almost every major trophy with club and country. After the signing of Pirlo, NYCFC has the most number of marquee players from European league. David Villa, Lampard and Pirlo will have higher salaries than other players based on Designated Players Rule.

The reigning MLS Cup champions, LA Galaxy, have brought in Giovani dos Santos from Villarreal for the 26-year-old.

“There’s a lot of things that have to happen for a deal of this magnitude,” Galaxy president Chris Klein said. “We’ve had an interest in Giovani dos Santos. And I think he’s always had an interest in us.

“It just took time for everything to come together.”

The British pair of Gerrard and Lampard are earning $6,332,504 and $6,000,000 respectively. The World Cup winner David Villa nets himself $5,610,000 whilst Gerrard’s new team-mate Robbie Keane is on $4,500,000 not far ahead of Dos Santos on $4,100,000. Amazingly Andrea Pirlo is ‘only’ on $2,000,004.

It is also believed that Didier Drogba is also on his way to the United States. The Blues legend recently revealed that he is in talks with an MLS outfit but didn’t name them.

“I’m not aware of that situation [with Inter],” Drogba told FCInter1908.

The veteran striker also ridiculed the rumours linking him to a move to the Serie A. He said that Roberto Mancini’s Inter Milan haven’t contacted him yet and he also hinted that he would be interested to move to San Siro after being released from Chelsea.

“Inter are a great club, and certainly if they were to contact me I’d gladly listen to their offer, but I’m currently in talks with an MLS club.

“Inter could be an option if they really are interested in me.”

The big names such as Kaka, Pirlo, Gerrard, Lampard and Drogba would lift the entire level of the game in the United States and also bring in more viewership from all over the country. The fan base of these players is just incredibly large and their supporters will follow them wherever they go.

Free Software Without Having to Go Linux

0

So you want to make your newly bought Windows PC more useful but you’re on a strict budget and that MS Office license just burned the last of it. It makes you wonder why you didn’t take your friend’s advice and went to Linux for the free software. Oh yes, because it’s another learning curve. But free software isn’t exclusive to Linux. However, under Windows, the hunt for free software can be extremely dangerous. This list of free software and their sites plus and the ability to get more should take some of the worries out.

First, we need protection. If you’re still on Windows 7, you can go to the Microsoft Website and search for Microsoft Security Essentials. It’s a good Anti-virus to begin with if you’re not too cavalier browsing the internet. This easy-to-use antivirus is non-intrusive and doesn’t take up many resources. You could say, who better than Microsoft can protect its own operating system? If you have trust issues with Microsoft, other options include:

  • Panda Free Antivirus 2015 – quick install, not much need to update since definitions are stored online
  • MalwareBytes Anti-Exploit Free – more of a Robin to your antivirus Batman.
  • Bitdefender Anti-virus Free Edition – unobtrusive background work
  • Avast Free Antivirus – Checks not just the computer but the router on the side.

Browsing with Internet Explorer is often said to be a pain. I find it okay despite the bad rep that precedes it but if you’re not satisfied with Internet Explorer, there’s always:

You’ll need to communicate online with the boss or friends and family. They may use any of the following:

  • Google Hangouts – is Google’s browser-based instant messaging app so there’s no need to install anything.
  • GoToMeeting Free – set up a meeting with up to three people. It’s also web-based. The limited number of attendees is rather unfortunate
  • in – is similar to GoToMeeting but allows eight people to communicate.
  • Skype – the almost ubiquitous video-conferencing app, it’s already as synonymous with talk as Google is to search.

If you need to manipulate your photos from your digital camera but can’t get around to buying Photoshop, you might need these:

  • GIMP – GNU Image Manipulation Program is the closes thing to Photoshop in this list. It has most of the features and functionality and it’s free.
  • Inkscape – allows you to manipulate vector graphics just like Adobe Illustrator
  • Picasa – will not only allow you to manipulate your images but you can also organize and share them.
  • Adobe Photoshop Express – if your computer is powered by Windows 8, this should be in your arsenal of Metro apps. It’s also the second closest thing to Photoshop and it’s free from Adobe.

You’ll also want to be able to play your movies, video and music files and listen to the latest. You’ll be needing these:

  • VLC Media Player – by now is synonymous with playing downloaded video files with unconventional codecs. It can play almost any format and is something no PC should be without.
  • MediaMonkey – If you’re tired of monkeying around with the unintuitive iTunes, you can try Mediamonkey. It offers the same music managing capabilities of iTunes and can sync other media with iOS devices.
  • Spotify – one of the best free music players out there, if you don’t mind the occasional advertisement. You could play songs from its growing 15 million song library or manage and play locally stored music files.
  • Kodi – is a media player that has its roots from the original XBOX. It was formerly known as XBMC. It can play almost any kind of video and music either locally or through third-party providers. Turn your computer into a true multimedia center.

Taking down notes is something we need to do every once in a while since the old noggin can’t keep everything. Note programs have gotten a lot better now and here’s are some worth looking at:

  • If you have the latest Office package, you’d probably have Microsoft OneNote. If not, it’s a free download from Microsoft.
  • Google Keep – you could keep your notes online and read them wherever you are even if it’s not on your PC. It’s a simple matter as long as you have a Google Account. It’s browser-based so there’s no need to install anything. The only problem is accessing your note when you’re offline.
  • Evernote – is the software that puts note-taking to the next level. You could store anything including text, pictures and PDFs. Like Google Keep, notes are stored online and has plenty of other features.

And finally, the real work can’t begin without an office suite if you haven’t bought MS Office with your new PC. If you can’t afford MS Office just yet or don’t have use for most of its features, you can use these instead:

  • LibreOffice – is the open-source equivalent of MS Office. It has most of its features and can be set to save to MS Office compatible files. Its best components are its word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Never had much use for the others but you might get to like them.
  • Microsoft Office Online – a Microsoft account can be quite handy especially if you need to use MS Office but can’t purchase the whole thing. That Microsoft Account can sign you into a browser-based version of MS Office. As long as you have an internet connection, you’re good to go.
  • WPS Office – is what you’d often find in Android devices. Kingsoft’s free offering for the Windows version looks mostly similar in controls to older office versions. One catch though is you can’t print without having watermarks on the printout. You could always email the finished file to a friend to be printed out elsewhere.

Other Stuff you might need:

  • CCleaner – Keep your PC running smoothly by keeping it clean of unwanted crap. That’s right. That’s what the first C stands for. Over the years or months, your PC will accumulate a lot of unwanted files which will slow it down. CCleaner should help track them down and remove them.
  • Foxit Reader – Beginning with Windows 8, PDF files can be read natively but the Reader app has much to be desired. You might want to use Foxit. It’s faster.
  • 7-ZIP – is a totally free compressed-file manager. It supports the creation and opening of both RAR and ZIP formats.

Brett Favre Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Induction Ignites Fan Base

brett favre hall of fame induction nfl 2015 imagesWhen Green Bay Packers legend and long-time quarterback, Brett Favre, left Wisconsin in 2008 to join the New York Jets no one really cared. Pack fans weren’t happy that he was leaving, but at least he wouldn’t get in their way moving forward.

2009 is when things got ugly. After an uneventful season with the Jets, Favre retired and came back with the Minnesota Vikings. You know, the Packers division rivals? So yeah, that didn’t fly in Green Bay.

Since then, there have been two sections of Packer fans: those who still loved Favre and thanked him for his years and Super Bowl XXXI victory with the team, and then those who would put him with the likes of Benedict Arnold.

Well, in his first appearance in Lambeau Field since the 2010 matchup between the Vikings and Packers, Favre wasn’t booed as he was back then. Instead, the crowd of Packers fans greeted Favre with a four-minute standing ovation that nearly made the quarterback burst into tears on stage.

“All I dreamed about as a kid were Archie Manning, Roger Staubach. I never dreamed of being in the Hall of Fame, never dreamed of having my jersey retired, never dreamed of Pro Bowls,” said Favre during the induction ceremony. “Did I dream about playing in Super Bowls? Absolutely. All of the dreams I ever had have come true, and then some.”

One Super Bowl ring; 11 Pro Bowls; and all-time NFL records for wins, passing yards, competitions, and consecutive starts. I think that’s a Hall of Fame career in any book.

Of course, Favre couldn’t go through the whole speech without some kind words for the team and 67,000 fans that came out to see the ceremony:

“Playing at Lambeau Field, running out of the tunnel, throwing a touchdown at Lambeau Field, there’s nothing like it on the Earth. Believe me, I have played elsewhere, there is absolutely nothing like this place. Where else can you can get this many people in a stadium when there’s not a game?

“All I can say is I hope it was as much fun for them watching me as it was for me to do it every week.”

After five years, it looks like things may finally be cool between Brett Favre and the fans again.

Osi Umenyiora & Dwight Freeney among Big-Name NFL Pass Rushers Still Available

dwight freeney big name pass rushers available nfl 2015 imagesNFL Training Camp is about two weeks away, and football season is knocking on the door. Not everyone is getting excited for Week 1 though, as a handful of big-name players remain unsigned months after the start of free agency. Among these veterans are a good number of defensive linemen and sack artists—slightly past their primes, but still fierce nonetheless:

  1. Red Bryant: Obviously much better known for his defensive role in the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII run, Bryant didn’t fall off much with the Jacksonville Jaguars this past season. In fact, Bryant was ranked No. 3 in league against the run in 2014 while leading the Jags defensive line to a decent season. That only should be enough to earn him a roster spot somewhere.
  2. Dwight Freeney: His time with the San Diego Chargers is up, the Indianapolis Colts have shown little-to-no interest in bringing him back, and so now the former star pass rusher is free for the taking. Sure, he’s 35 now, but he really hasn’t dropped off much. Only two players had more quarterback hurries this past season, and one of them was named Justin Houston. That’s pretty good company.
  3. Brandon Spikes: When you’re off-the-field antics get you cut from the New England Patriots, you must really be doing something wrong. After pleading guilty to a hit-and-run case in June, Spikes is back on the market. Usually run-stuffers like that don’t stay available for very long, but his history of problems is enough to make teams cautious. Spikes is only 27, so as the season gets underway and teams realize they could really use someone like him, he may get another chance. It isn’t a stretch to say he’ll have his name called a few weeks in.
  4. Osi Umenyiora: Umenyiora was one of the better defensive linemen in the league at one point. His time with the New York Giants was fantastic, but he was a non-factor for the Atlanta Falcons this past season. 2.5 sacks just doesn’t cut it, it gets you cut. Osi is 34, but he still plans on going strong. He may not be as fearsome as he once was, but a one-year deal with a team in need of a veteran presence on defense would be the perfect way to go out.

X-MEN APOCALYPSE Latest Trailer Overview

0

The trailer for Marvel’s X-Men: Apocalypse has been leaked. Released at Comic-Con, it shows both familiar and brand new faces in the latest installment of the X-Men franchise.

Let’s take a look at a few new members of the crew.

Games of Thrones actress Sophie Grey will play the younger version of character Jean Gray. While the character is not new to the series, Sophie will be bringing a new portrayal to the role. In the trailer, we see Sophie’s character having visions of an impending apocalypse.

Kodi Smit-Mcphee will now play Nightcrawler, who was originally portrayed by Alan Cumming in X2: X-Men United. Kodi is a 19-year-old Australian actor, who will bring a younger perspective to the stealthy character.

Move over Halle Berry!

The latest installment of the franchise presents us with a change in timelines and elements of time travel. This means that Apocalypse is presenting viewers with a younger version of Storm. Halle will be replaced by actress Alexandra Shipp, who is known for playing the lead role in late R&B singer Aaliyahs biopic (Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B).

Actress Olivia Munn will be taking on the role of Psylocke. As one of Apocalypse’s villains, Olivia explains that her character has “no problem battling and killing.” Adding that she “loves how strong [Psylocke] is.”

Lastly, is the villain himself: Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac. Oscar Isaac recently starred in the Sci-Fi flick Ex Machina and will also be starring in the upcoming Star Wars sequel.

x-men apolcalypse trailer leak 2015 movies

Apocalypse is set up to be a 5000 year-old Egyptian mutant, who is nearly unstoppable. The first glimpse at this new villain was shown during the end credits of Days of Future Past, which showed Apocalypse removing his hood.

So who will be returning?

Much of the X-Men cast from the previous film will be returning. This including Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Rose Byrne, and Lucas Till.

The plot to the film all begins after 10 years have past since Days of Futures Past. Raven (Lawrence), Charles (McAvoy) and Erik (Fassbender) are still distanced from one another.

This, however, does not last long as Apocalypse awakens and decides it is his time to threaten destruction upon the world. By recruiting young Storm, Angel, Psylocke and Eric, Apocalypse is able to assemble a team that together create a force like nothing the X-Men group have seen before.

This uprising triggers Jennifer Lawrence’s character, Raven, to reunite with Charles (McAvoy), who at the time is teaching other mutants to control their abilities in order to function normally in the world.

In attempt to top the incredibly successful, action-packed X-Men: Days of Future Pastdirector Bryan Singer, has set up a high-stake battle between two teams of mutants, both with incredible power.

In terms of visuals, the leaked trailer and a few released pictures show many of the new cast-mates costumes. Many of the costumes hold true to the comic book characters, such as Olivia’s character Psylocke and young storm. However, there has been quite a lot of criticism surfacing regarding the title villain, Apocalypse’s costume.

Apocalypse is shown donning an all purple, heavy suit, almost resembling that of a medieval knight, but with a bit of space age flair. Some speculate they will be adding CGI effects to add to the character’s appearance.

At this point, I would have to agree that he doesn’t look as imposing as the plot makes him out to be.

Some people are comparing him to Power Rangers’ villain Ivan Ooze and after looking Ivan up and doing a side-by-side comparison with Apocalypse, I can’t help but agree. Bear in mind, Ivan Ooze is a character from a 1995 movie. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say most likely after production and computer-generated additions, Apocalypse will have a much more threatening presence in the final film.

Although director Bryan Singer explained that they are creating bigger stakes, as visually it is hard for them to top Days of Future Past, it is tough to make the film anything more than a battle against good vs. evil.

The main draw of the movie is seeing the familiar faces of the X-Men crew and the few additions that have made waves in the media, one being Olivia Munn as Psylocke.

While I am usually a fan of Olivia, I am still on the fence about her casting in the movie. I think this is especially due to her recent interview with late-night show host Conan O’brien, at Comic-Con. Here, Olivia seemed set on spending almost her whole interview time talking about how she had a “deficit” when it came to her chest size, in comparison to the comic book portrayal of Psylocke. Only changing the topic to talk about how she had to use “lube” to fit herself into her latex costume. I felt it was unfortunate that her interview didn’t reflect the pride she said she felt playing such a strong female character.

No doubt this movie will bring in big crowds, as the hype for it is already incredible, with still a year until release. I just wonder how many more good vs. evil battles the X-Men series can roll out before the novelty wears off…
