‘CSI Cyber’ 205 Hacked ER

csi cyber 205 hack er 2015 recap imagesOn this week’s episode of CSI: Cyber, a Dallas hospital’s computer system was hacked into. A patient died because they couldn’t provide her with proper care as a result. The incident was reported to the FBI, and Agent Ryan said this was a technology related murder.

In Dallas, the chief of staff met with Russell and Agent Ryan. They asked her to take the hospital’s computer system offline so they could investigate. The chief of staff said that the hospital was willing to pay the ransom the hacker wanted. They determined much of the hospital’s equipment worked on the hospital’s WiFi system. The hacker disabled the heart monitor of Lindsey, the patient who died. Her husband wanted Agent Ryan to solve the case. A computer virus was found in the hospital that made the defibrillator malfunction.

Raven got into the network but couldn’t take it offline because it would disable all the ventilators. Malware was injected into the hospital’s system five months before the patient died. Agent Mundo got a list of 20 hospital employees suspected of being behind the hacking. Nelson found the TV in the hospital where the malware had entered the hospital’s system.

Agent Mundo found a fired hospital employee he suspected of hacking into the computer system. Then the computer system tried to go back online but shut down the whole hospital instead. The hacker got a message on a TV screen in the hospital. The message was “we are here.”

Agent Ryan said she thought the hacker wanted to create chaos and hadn’t hacked into the system for money, as many hackers would. Nelson took apart the hospital’s infected TV and found out the hardware in the TV had been hacked and had pushed the malware into the hospital’s computer network.

Agent Mundo went to the home of the fired hospital employee and pulled a gun on him. He said he met a hacker on a medical message board and that he probably sold the malicious code to the person who hacked into the hospital’s computer. The man told Agent Mundo his wife had died in a hospital two years earlier, and he was trying to find out why. The man escaped his house and ran away, but Agent Mundo caught up with him. He brought the man back to FBI headquarters to help them solve the case.

Daniel uploaded a patch to the hospital system so that the ventilators would work properly. Russell being in the hospital had flashbacks to when his wife was sick in a different hospital. Outside the hospital a man being sent home collapsed and died. The man had been a friend of Nelson’s. Nelson said his friend was murdered. A doctor at the hospital had given the man a medication he was allergic to, and it killed him. The doctor thought the medication was safe because the man’s medical records had been altered. Agent Ryan gave orders for the hospital to be on lock down. Nelson found out where the medical records had been altered. A nurse was discovered smashing a computer. She attacked the doctor that caught her doing it, and the doctor needed emergency surgery as a result of the attack.

After the surgery, Agent Ryan told the doctor that she had messed up and gotten caught. After smashing the computer, she stabbed herself in the gut to cause a diversion. Agent Ryan determined that the doctor had placed a chip in the TV that had been hacked into. She said that they had found out the doctor purchased the malware used to invade the hospital’s computer system. The doctor told Agent Ryan she had spent 23 years saving patients who only had hours to live. She said God wanted those patients to die, but she kept them on earth. She said the hospital was made famous due to her accomplishments, but she got no thanks for it. She was jealous that someone else had been made chief of staff of the hospital.,

In Agent Ryan’s office, Russell spotted a picture of her daughter on her desk. She then told him that her daughter had been killed when the nanny got into a fatal car accident with her in the backseat. The former nanny had given Agent Ryan a letter saying she wanted the two women to speak again. The nanny’s daughter, who was friends with Agent Ryan’s daughter, came to visit Agent Ryan.

NFL Week 8 Indepth Review

Saints 52  Giants 49

Yes, that is an accurate score. We knew the Saints didn’t have an all-world defense, but now it’s obvious that NY has one that’s a little worse than New Orleans.

The Giants got a big game from Odell Beckham, and Eli threw for six touchdowns. Most games that would be enough, but Drew Brees was absolutely ablaze, throwing seven touchdowns.

NO got the win with a last second field goal that was set up by Brees marching down the field with ease at the end.

There were 63 first downs in this game and over 1000 yards combined. An incredible game to watch for fantasy fanatics and most casual sports fans. Defensive gurus were not impressed.

Eye-popping stat: 614 total yards by the Saints.

Fantasy Carnage: Drew Brees and take your pick from any Saints receiver.

Bengals 16   Steelers 10

Cincinnati survived two fourth quarter interceptions by their red headed QB to come out of this divisional rivalry still unbeaten.

Pittsburgh lost more than an important division game. They will be without Le’Veon Bell for the rest of the year. Bell went down with a severe MCL tear in this game.

Pittsburgh has had very little time with all three of their most important pieces on the field this year.

Andy Dalton didn’t have his best game of the year, but AJ Green bailed his QB out with a great game of his own. The Bengals offensive line had been solid all year, yet let Dalton get harassed much of this contest.

Bell’s backup DeAngelo Williams is no slouch, but there is a big fall off from what Bell brings to the Steelers offense.

Eye-popping stat: AJ Green 11 catches on 17 targets.

Fantasy carnage: AJ Green on DFS.

Seahawks 13   Cowboys 12

Any doubt Russell Wilson was going to set his Seattle boys up for the winning TD when they were down 12-10? Nope. Wilson took his offense on a 16 play march to get a shot at an easy FG that gave them the win.

Matt Cassel was not awful with his legs for Dallas, but his arm was pretty impotent. He makes Peyton look like an arm wrestling champion. The Boys had four net yards in the fourth quarter so don’t look for any late game heroics until Romo returns.

Any Romo haters want to apologize? Dallas is not going to win until he comes back, which will be too late.

Seattle’s O-line showed improvement in this game and kept Wilson unsacked for the game after allowing a league high total coming into this match up.

Eye-popping stat: 97 yards passing for Cassel

Fantasy carnage: It was 12-13 so….Dan Bailey, Dallas’ kicker.

Falcons 20   Bucs 23

Link to full recap. I may have been too hard on Ryan. Maybe.

Chief 45   Lions 10

The Lions can go ahead and start that search for a new head coach. They made KC look like the Patriots in this game at Wembley Stadium.

Matt Stafford’s big game last time out was an aberration, and the Lions are said to be paring down the offense even further for next week. What is Stafford’s IQ?

Alex Smith torched the Lions defensive unit for 78 yards rushing, and Charcandrick West got near 100 himself as he continues in relief of Jamaal Charles.

England is planning an embargo on Detroit for future NFL games over in their neck of the woods

Eye-popping stat: Smith nearly outgained the entire Lions’ group of runners.

Fantasy carnage: Alex Smith was a great value in daily leagues.

Ravens  29   Chargers 26

This game didn’t mean a whole hell of a lot. We have two teams going nowhere, but it was significant in that Steve Smith went down with an Achilles Tendon tear. This game could be the last we see of the future Hall of Famer who played the game with as big a chip on his shoulder as any player I have personally watched.

I’d like to see him back, but he has done enough. No need to go through another year of pain. The guy was already playing with microfractures in his back, yet was fourth in yards in the NFL at the time he went down versus SD.

The Chargers are only relevant in the world of fantasy play, and the Ravens will have to lean on Justin Forsett even more the rest of the way.

Eye-popping stat: Keenan Allen’s low avg. of 7 yards a catch in this game.

Fantasy carnage: Flacco and his kicker, which is all the Ravens can afford now with the QB’s 100 mil contract.

Vikings 23  Bears 20

Don’t look now but the Vikings are on a three-game tear and are 5-2. They haven’t beaten any great teams or even a good one yet, but they are what their record says they are.

It took a late FG at the end to get Minnesota over Chicago in this game. Jay Cutler didn’t play bad and has been decent since his return from injury. Matt Forte left the game hurt and did not return.

Stefon Diggs didn’t make the most of his 12 targets but still caught six balls for 95 yards and a TD. This guy should have been active from the opening game for the Vikes. Maybe their record would be even better at this point.

There is talk of Chicago trading away Jay Cutler since this season is a wash. I doubt any team would want his inflated contract, though.

Eye-popping stat: Alshon Jeffery’s ten catches for 116 yards.

Fantasy carnage: Jeffrey DFS.

Browns 20   Cardinals 34

Carson Palmer didn’t play perfectly, and he had the right opponent for that. Cleveland could not get over on Arizona even after taking the ball away four times.

Cleveland is going nowhere fast, and this game was one they should have won. McCown had a good game passing and led the team in rushing, which is a big problem. No wins are coming with him getting 18 yards to lead his team’s running efforts.

Arizona moves to an imperfect 6-2, but they are with the rest of the flawed top tier teams. There is just one perfect looking team, and they are led by Tom Brady.

Eye-popping stat: Two fumbles by Chris Johnson.

Fantasy carnage: Palmer is steady in year-long leagues. McCown is a good value in GPP play for his upside with a cheap price tag.

Texans  20   Titans 6

The Titans offensive line couldn’t protect Zach Mettenberger any better than Mariota. The backup was running for his life all game long.

Brian Hoyer was OK but not great in this one. He was enough against the powerless Titans offense, especially without Mariota in the lineup.

Tennessee has now lost 16/17 games going back to last year, and it’s not looking much better going forward.

Eye-popping stat: Zach Mettenberger sacked seven times.

Fantasy carnage: The Texans defense finally got a good fantasy score weeks after I traded them away. Thanks for nothing.

Rams 27    49ers 6

The 49ers are a mess and will be for the next five years at least. They let a great head coach leave and lost too many defensive players to be competitive.

Colin Kaepernick is doing them no favors either. He has no awareness and couldn’t even find his receiver that went completely uncovered on one specific play.

Todd Gurley fueled the Rams offensive machine again. The rookie beast has people calling him the best pure runner in the league. He is great, but we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves yet. Give him a little more time to evolve.

Gurley peeled off a 71 yard TD and totaled 146 yards, 13 from receptions.

The Niners lost Reggie Bush to a knee injury after he slipped on the outer edges of the field. The League needs to do something about the perimeter of these ball fields that are taking out their employees due to cleats slipping on a hard surface.

Eye-popping stat: 6.7 yards per carry for Gurley.

Fantasy carnage: Gurley either league type.

Raiders 34  Jets 20

The Raiders are playing football like they mean it. They rocked the Jets for 34 points, with David Carr accounting for four touchdown passes.

Latavius Murray ate up NY for 100 plus yards on the ground as well.

NY was in bad shape for a comeback with Geno Smith in for the injured Ryan Fitzpatrick. To be fair, Geno played decent until the last few minutes when he mismanaged the clock on a couple drives. Smith got hammered on the sideline in what looked like a truck on QB hit. He later went to the sidelines after another big hit in the pocket.

The Raiders got a big game from Michael Crabtree as he went over the century mark in receiving yards.

Eye-popping stat: Zero fumbles for both teams.

Fantasy carnage: David Carr.

Packers 10  Broncos 29

I would never have picked Peyton over Rodgers in this game. No one else in their right minds would have either.

Manning proved us all wrong, for one week at least. He outpaced Aaron Rodgers by 262 yards as Denver handed Green Bay their first loss of the year.

Manning was helped by 160 rushing yards from his backs, but he looked good the entire game after getting two weeks rest with a bye last week.

Rodgers never got going, and his lack of talent at receiver is hurting the Pack more every week. Denver’s strong defensive backfield totally dominated every route making Rodgers hold the ball too long too often.

Denver stays unblemished, and the Packers fall to 7-1

Eye-popping stat: 77 yards passing from Rodgers.

Fantasy carnage: Demaryius Thomas got off on DraftKings

Panthers 29    Colts  26

The weather was not fit for man nor beast, but it was perfect for the ugly sort of games that Cam Newton is used to winning. There were dropped passes and players sliding all over the place as heavy rain fell on the MNF game between Carolina and Indianapolis.

This one looked like it was going to be Carolina’s type of game as they led most of the way and even took a 17 point lead in the fourth quarter.

The Colts were not going away though and managed to rack up 17 in the fourth quarter with Andrew Luck showing a lot of toughness in the pocket with reports of damaged ribs since week three surfacing this week.

Indy had a close call on a reviewed catch on their last drive, and it moved them closer to get a field goal to force overtime on a rain-soaked night that also saw some repelling protesters at BOA Stadium.

In OT, the Colts got the first score on another field goal. Then the Panthers answered on their first drive but missed on a big pass to Ted Ginn Jr, which he dropped. So Carolina settled for three points to tie it again.

Andrew Luck ran out of luck when his pass was tipped then picked in Colts territory. Carolina proceeded to move the ball just close enough for Graham Gano to end the overtime contest with a 52 yard FG. Game over, Panthers still perfect if not pretty.

Eye-popping stat: Seven turnovers combined.

Fantasy carnage: Both kickers scored plenty and Cam was just OK.

Rihanna Pulls Out On Victoria’s Secret & Lorde Turns It Up For Vogue

rihanna pulls out on victorias secret 2015 gossip

Victoria’s Secret is gearing up for their annual televised fashion show in December. Earlier in October, the company announced that Rihanna would be performing during the show.

However, it has now been revealed that Rihanna has chosen to pull out of the event so she can focus on continuing to work on her new album. While the singer has yet to schedule a release date for her upcoming album, she has revealed the name (Anti) and released three songs. Thus, while she continues to perfect her eighth studio album, singer Ellie Goulding will be taking her place at the fashion show. Goulding will be performing songs off her recently released album, Delirium.

In addition to Ellie, singers Selena Gomez and The Weeknd will also be performing as the models grace the runway.

On Monday, Victoria’s Secret announced that angel Lily Aldridge will be wearing the coveted $2 million Fantasy Bra. It has also been reported that model Kendall Jenner, who turned twenty today, will be walking the show. If this claim is true, Kendall will be joining her gal-pal Gigi Hadid, who was seen in a video posted on Victoria’s Secret’s Instagram page, getting casted for the infamous show.

lorde turns heads at vogue 2015 gossipLast night, stars stepped out in New York City for the 12th annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. While the majority of the guests looked glamorous, there was one star that managed to stand out and turn the most heads: Lorde.

The 18-year-old stepped onto the carpet with short, sleek locks. This style is a big departure from the voluminous, curly mane she is known for. Since Lorde skyrocketed to fame with her hit song Royals in 2013, the young musician has stuck to her long, spiraling locks. However, she finally decided to opt for a change of pace and chopped at least half a foot of hair off.

Lorde’s sleek style was pulled away from her face, letting the singer’s features take the main stage. Although she went for a huge change-up in the hair department, the star stayed true to her signature dark style, as she donned a fresh face, defined brows and a black lace dress over silk pants.

Lorde, Instagram posts:

just me and a couple of bloody fashion legends

A post shared by Lorde (@lordemusic) on

It will be interesting to see how her new cut looks when she steps out with her natural, curly tresses. Hopefully this drastic change means that there is also some new music from Lorde in the works as well. The New Zealand singer and songwriter has not released an album since her 2013 hit debut, Pure Heroine.

TLC’s Missing Album & RHOA NeNe Leakes Back To Shading Kenya Moore

TLC’s Kickstarter campaign has come up empty, ABC is sticking by Raven Symoné while ratings are good, NeNe Leakes is back shading on RHOA Kenya Moore and Leah Remini talks Scientology with Katie Holmes.

tlc kickstarter anger 2015 gossipTLC Kickstarter Supporters Upset Over Phantom Album

Everything is all fun and games until money goes missing. That’s pretty much what contributors to TLC’s Kickstarter campaign, which raised $430,000 to fund their new album, are saying about the absence of said album. It was supposed to be released last month, but as you can see, it’s November and a TLC record is nowhere to be heard or found.

It all started when a “fan” (some speculate a member of Rihana’s Navy) tweeted T BOZ on Halloween, jokingly asking about the album.

“T-Boz where is my money? Yall owe me $5 for that Kickstarter album. @TheRealTBOZ”

It was the singer’s response that caused the controversy and the hastag #TLCisgoingtojailparty.

“@NathanNAVY Call Kickstarter and tell em yo give it bk”

That’s kind of an asshole response, but one that got people wondering “where the hell is the money” nonetheless.

Of course a load of others jumped on the bandwagon and joined in making fun of the duo, which clearly pissed TBoz off.

“Y’all sound ridiculous we’re in the damn studio recording it,”

In TLC’s defense, they have updated their Kickstarter campaign to let people know that they have pushed the release date back to January of 2016. That doesn’t matter, though, as the meme’s ensued, and so did the countless tweets about what Chili and TBoz are doing with the money.

People are so messy.

abc loving raven symones ratings 2015 gossipABC to Raven Symoné Haters: “IDFWU”

Okay, so we all knew that the change.org petition to remove Raven Symoné from The View probably wasn’t going to get the chick fired, but am I the only one who hoped the outcry would be do great Barbara Walter would get the hint? ABC, the network that airs The View has spoken, and they are standing by their ratings grabber and pretty much told the 130,000 petitioners and everyone else who wants her gone, “IDFWU.”

As reported by US Magazine, ABC released this statement:

“We love Raven… She is confident, genuine and opinionated, all qualities that make her a great addition to the panel.”

I bet you do “love Raven.” I mean, people are no longer watching because of the content you offer. They just want to see her make a fool of herself. And I guess in the world of entertainment, the saying rings very true for ABC, “All press is good press.”

nene leakes shades on kenya moore 2015 rhoa gossipNeNe Leakes Shades Kenya Moore for the Umpteenth Time

Did we really think this was going to go away? I mean guys it’s NeNe Leakes and self-centered albeit beautiful Kenya Moore. Leakes leaving the show was not going to stop them from shading one another, and we have the Internet to thank for that.

So we know that NeNe is coming back to the show, just for an episode or two right now. She’s supposed to be a guest star for the ladies trip to Jamaica. But she still doesn’t think that she is the center of all the drama in which we see her involved, and maybe she has a point?

Well, that seems like it could be the case being that this time around, Kenya may have started it.

“I tried to tweet @NeNeLeakes a message but got this instead LOL #Blocked #SheUnfollowedMeToo LOL”

But Kenya apparently got it wrong as NeNe let her know that she is indeed following her.

“@KenyaMoore Cut your shit out Kenya! I’m following you.”

What’s really going on? Maybe it all has to do with the fact that RHOA is back on Sunday November 8th and producers knew that if anyone could get people talking about it, NeNe Leakes could. As NeNe learned the harsh realities of being a ‘reality’ star, the world can get chilly quickly, so expect her back full-time next season on RHOA. Wendy Williams is not one to play with as Leakes learned after her talk show was quickly canceled. Wendy has more power girl and don’t you forget it.

leah remini katie holmes on scientology 2015 gossipLeah Remini and Katie Holmes Talk Scientology

If you are not aware of actress Leah Remini’s split from scientology, then you have a lot of catching up to do. The cult-like religious organization doesn’t have the best rep and Leah, who was a part of it pretty much all of her life, is speaking up about her time as a member of the Church of Scientology.

During her recent “20/20” interview, she talked about her “run ins” with Tom Cruise and his wife at the time Katie Holmes, one of which caused her to get “written up.” After her special and since Holmes herself is no longer a part of the Church, the ex- Ms Cruise released a statement to address Leah’s claims.

“I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future.”

I know firsthand how it feels to be a part of an organization that is supposed to be a source of truth and comfort only for it to disappoint and harm. While on “Good Morning America,” Leah was cheery and smiley when Katie’s comment was read on air.

“I’m smiling because it almost makes me want to cry…It makes me emotional because, at the time that Katie and this particular crew were writing reports, it caused me a lot of time and pain in my family… Now I know really what she was going through.”

Her story is one I am sure hardcore Scientologists don’t like being told, but as the saying goes, “What’s done it the dark will come to the light.”

Yusaf Mack’s Unusual Outing

0

Yusaf Macks Unusual Outing 2015 boxing imagesYou think Colin Kaepernick was “on an island” with his football team? Just imagine being a boxer outed as a gay man after a gay porno appears for all to see.

Yusaf Mack is a boxer out of Philadelphia who got caught up in one of the strangest sports stories ever. He appears to have squashed the drama for now by coming clean about the events that made him a target for TMZ and the like.

Mack went to great lengths to explain away the fact that he was involved in the making of a gay porn film. And by involved, I mean he was an active participant. When the video surfaced, Mack claimed that he had been drugged and couldn’t remember much about the shoot except that he thought he was being paid to be in a straight porn film.

TMZ had an “interview” with the guy that ended up just being him claiming not to be able to speak about any of the details for legal reasons. He did mention he was writing a book about the event.

Yes, a book.

This little interview, while great fodder for Harvey Levin, just made Mack look more troubled than the original story.

Since the TMZ non-interview, Yusaf Mack has decided to come clean about what really happened, as if we didn’t understand that already. He admitted to lying about being drugged to do the porno vid and says that he is bisexual.

That was not an easy thing to admit as you can see in his statement below. However, it had to be easier than keeping up a ridiculous lie that resulted in him getting sued by the porn production company Dawgpound USA and clowned by TMZ.

“This is an issued public apology from my heart. I want to address a few situations with the first being the false claims I made about being drugged during the Dog Pound adult film. I have never spoke negatively about the company that produced the film although the claim to have been given a drug by someone during set was a lie. I was completely aware and fully conscious during the film.

The second situation, which further explains the first, concerns my lifestyle. I did participate in the adult film because at the time I needed money but also because I am a bisexual man. Meaning I enjoy safely being intimate with whomever I choose.

Lastly I would like to address the reason I lied. My life was completely destroyed once it had been outed that I participated in a gay film. I selfishly tried to cover the truth and remain in denial, rather than accept the fact that I was leading a double life secretly.

After reflecting on the mess I had made I realized that I hurt a lot of my loved ones and the people, my famCherry.d fans, I cared about the most were left disappointed and confused. It was unfair and time to come clean. I want to say sorry to my children and my ex fiancé, I am so sorry that I was a coward and hid a huge part of my life from you all. To the ones that were once my friends and now feel disgust, I’m sorry, but this is my life. I’m not looking for sympathy or even understanding, I’ve kept this secret for a long time. It is time to move forward and this is me walking in my truth.

There are other men and women that are set up in the similar situations and I just hope I can be inspiration to be just be you. The extreme taboo and harsh criticism of living a same sex lifestyle, especially as an African American male, makes it hard to be completely honest and comfortable within yourself. But I had to remember that I am a champ & I can fight and will fight through this. I am more than my sexual orientation. To all of my supporters I thank you dearly. For all other media outlets please contact my consultant Anthony Cherry.”

Many will assume Mack only started telling the truth about the story once Dawgpound USA threatened a lawsuit. That may be the case, but I think we can assume this boxer willing to do some pornography for $4500 is pretty much judgement proof.

He likely has no money for which he can be sued. Apparently he also has ten kids, so I’m pretty sure any child support payments are in line before any porn company legal judgements.

It’s hard to imagine how hot the spotlight would be on this tough guy who made a living fighting other men in a ring. Coming out as a gay accountant or factory worker can’t be easy. But a boxer?

When the video surfaced, it’s easy to see how Mack would try and escape the truth of it all.

Lying wasn’t the answer obviously, and you might want to really take some time before agreeing to be filmed doing gay porn if you are not comfortable with people knowing you are gay or bisexual.

A good rule of thumb is to avoid doing porn at all.

In his statement Mack mentioned he hoped to be able to inspire others in his situation. While no one would want to end up in a wacky tale like this boxer felt he had to fabricate, there are plenty more athletes out there that are hiding their own truths and would panic if they were outed before they were ready.

Once again, singer Rihanna serves as the key advisor who mentors all of the performers before they take the stage.

So here are the Knockout Round performances from tonight’s episode:

  1. Team Adam

James Dupre vs. Shelby Brown

The first round was between James and Shelby. Shelby, who is a country artist, decides to sing, “Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood. The song really showcases her powerhouse vocals and Adam just notes that she needs to get lost in the song and rid away her nerves.

Meanwhile, James chooses to sing “Sure Be Cool If You Did” by The Voice’s own Blake Shelton. James is also a country artist, who has already found mild success through his YouTube channel (he appeared on Ellen). Based on the rehearsals, it seems that Shelby has the upper hand, as James’ performance falls a bit flat.

During the performances, James delivers a much more laidback performance. Although Blake notes that James has awesome taste in song selection, most of the judges seemed to be swayed towards Shelby’s more dramatic flair. Thus, Shelby wins a spot on Team Adam for the Live Rounds.

  1. Team Pharrell

Siahna Im vs. Mark Hood

The next pairing of the night was between soulful singer Mark Hood and teenage musician Siahna Im. Mark comes into the rehearsals smiling ear to ear as he sees Rihanna beside his coach. Mark decides to sing, “Stand by Me” by Ben E King. Once again, Mark embellishes the classic song with numerous runs. However, he sometimes goes a bit overboard which might be his downfall.

Meanwhile, Siahna comes into rehearsals with the song “Back to Black” by Amy Winehouse. Her song selection isn’t all too surprising, as she previously impressed judges with her old school vocals. Her ability to belt out the soulful song when she is still so young is impressive and ultimately might win her the round.

Unfortunately, Siahna’s performance lacks a lot of the stability in her vocals that she had during rehearsals. Thus, Mark is able to edge ahead and win a spot on Pharrell’s team.

  1. Team Gwen

Jeffrey Austin vs. Kota Wade

Team Gwen’s first pairing of the night was between her two rock-soul team members, Jeffrey and Kota. Jeffrey decides he wants to sing “Turning Tables” by Adele, which is undoubtedly a bold and challenging choice. However, if he is able to conquer it, he will definitely be guaranteed a spot in the Live Rounds.

Meanwhile, Kota chooses “Barracuda” by Ann and Nancy Wilson, which is a unique selection but not the most ideal for the Knockout Rounds (very limited dynamics and range in comparison to Jeffrey’s song choice).

During the performance, Jeffrey crushes the Adele hit and showcases his incredible vocal range and falsetto abilities. Unfortunately, Kota digs her own grave, as she is unable to show her dynamics during her performance. In addition, she notably lost control on several occasions. Thus, Gwen grants Jeffrey the spot on her team.

  1. Team Blake

Emily Ann Roberts vs. Nadjah Nicole

Blake decides to pit Emily against fellow team member Nadjah, as he believes they both have similar voices (although I don’t really see too much of the similarity between the two). Emily comes into rehearsal with “Cowboy Take Me Away” by Dixie Chicks. She has an incredible voice, but gets some tips from Blake and Rihanna how to properly hit the rhythm of the song.

Meanwhile, Nadjah enters the ring with “A Woman’s Worth” by Alicia Keys. Nadjah, who is Blake’s only pop and R&B artist, struggles with nerves throughout her rehearsal.

In the Knockout Round, Emily performs without the nervous energy she was struggling with during the rehearsals. She even added some of her own artistry into the song, which Pharrell later praised her for. Nadjah also did a good job on the Alicia Keys song, but her performance wasn’t as memorable. In the end, Blake stays with what he’s comfortable with and keeps country artist Emily Ann Roberts.

  1. Team Pharrell

Evan McKeel vs. Tim Atlas

For his team’s second performance of the night, Pharrell paired up Evan and Tim. Evan is an indie artist who chooses to sing “Dare You to Run” by Switchfoot. Rihanna decides to make Evan get rid of his guitar, so he is able to show off more of the emotion behind the lyrics of the song. Pharrell tells him, “Don’t overthink, over feel.”

Meanwhile, fellow indie artist Tim Atlas comes to the rehearsals with “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia. Unfortunately, his voice doesn’t come off as strong as Evan’s did during his preparation for the performance. Additionally, Tim seems to struggle with his stage presence.

Evan shows off his strong voice and emotions during his performance of the Switchfoot ballad. Meanwhile, Tim tries his best to lay it all out but, unfortunately, this translates into a few too many ad-libs. In the end, Pharrell decides to keep Evan, as Tim added too many “herbs and spices” into his vocals.

  1. Team Gwen

Regina Love vs. Riley Biederer

Gwen pitted up her two steals, Regina Love and Riley Biederer. Regina is a bold, soulful diva that decides to tackle “Midnight Train” by Gladys Knight. Gwen advises Regina to be creative with her singing and add more of her own flair to her vocals.

Meanwhile, Riley chooses to sing Beyonce’s “XOXO.” Riley says she knows it’s a risk, but she wanted the opportunity to showcase her artistry on such a well-known song.

In the performance, Riley delivers an intriguing spin on the Beyonce song and also has a strong stage presence and notable confidence radiating throughout. Powerhouse Regina puts up a fight, as she conquers the Gladys Knight song with the diva-like vocals we now expect from her. Unfortunately, Regina’s belting overpowers Riley’s more dynamic performance. In the end, Gwen keeps Regina for her team. However, Pharrell decides to use his last steal and gets Riley back on his team.

That’s it for the Knockout Rounds. Next week we will be entering the Live Rounds, where audiences will get a chance to vote for which singers continue on in the competition.

You can catch “The Road to the Live Shows” tomorrow, November 3 to get a recap of the last few episodes of The Voice.

Trash-Talking Injured Ricardo Lockette & Outraging PETA: Dez Bryant’s Day

0

trash talking injured ricardo lockette outraging peta dez bryant 2015 nfl

Well, Dez Bryant is back on the field for the Dallas Cowboys, and he wasted no time reminding everyone. Seattle Seahawks shutdown corner Richard Sherman may have held Bryant to only two receptions for 12 yards, but that didn’t stop the infamous loudmouth (which one, I know) from…well, running his mouth—allegedly.

Cameras caught Bryant mouthing what appears to be “That’s what you f**king get” to Seattle’s Bruce Irvin after Seattle wide receiver Ricardo Lockette was knocked unconscious on a big hit in punt coverage. Bryant was pissed when he heard what he was being accused of.

“Stay the f**k away,” said the Pro Bowl receiver as reports approached him in the locker room postgame. “Why don’t you all get the f**k out of here? This is our f**king locker room.”

Looks like Bryant has a new favorite word. He did, however, calm down a little and go on to defend himself:

“I won’t ever, ever, ever, ever wish bad on a player that’s been knocked down. Come on man, stop with the bullsh*t. Not once did I say, ‘Hey, that’s what you get.’ I got down on one knee and prayed for that man.”

I don’t want to speculate too much, but I really hope that Bryant has the decency to respect injured players…especially coming off an injury of his own.

Things didn’t get much better for Dez Monday either—PETA is now calling for an investigation into Bryant’s “possibly illegal possession” of a monkey.

In other news, I’ve officially seen it all.

“Monkeys belong in the wild—not football players who acquire exotic animals just to make a splash on Instagram,” said PETA’s Brittany Peet.

Dez revealed the monkey, whose name is Dallas Bryant, on Instagram with the caption “my new best friend.” PETA wouldn’t really separate a man from his best friend, would they? The NFL already took away that catch against the Green Bay Packers last season, how much more can one man lose!

NFL Winners & Losers Week 8

0

nfl winners losers week 8 peyton manning 2015 imagesWeek eight was not the best week for some some big name players that had their seasons put in jeopardy, and it downright sucked as a Falcons fan.

Somehow the Texans managed to win a game, while Bill Belichick introduced Dan Campbell to the real NFL.

Let’s not delay the winners and losers from week eight. The longer we wait, the more likely I am to start lighting my Falcons’ gear on fire.

NFL Child of the Week: Dan Campbell. I hope he didn’t think he was going to go undefeated as interim head coach of Miami. He got his come-up-ins from one Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

NFL Grown Man of the Week: Peyton Manning. The guy was finally a help to his defense as he and the Broncos rolled right over Green Bay. Manning was the superior QB in this one somehow, outslinging Aaron Rodgers by 262 yards!

Loser: Reggie Bush jacked his knee as he slid on the sideline. He is out the rest of the year because NFL stadiums can’t seem to afford turf all the way around the field. Ridiculous.

Winner: Todd Gurley got off again today for 133 yards as the Rams pounded San Francisco. I can only hope Gurley continues his rise to the top of the NFL while his Alma Mater Georgia flounders over the next few years for hanging him out to dry with the NCAA.

Loser: Dan Quinn. Well, the luster is off the new Falcons head man. Once thought to be a football guru of turnarounds, he appears to be headed for a mediocre season. He is 0-2 against divisional opponents, and they have yet to face the best of their division in the Panthers. Quinn’s Falcons have benefited from an easy schedule thus far and are now exposed as the same old ATL. God help me.

Winner: Jameis Winston found a nice rhythm against Atlanta and helped his Bucs to a division win over the home team Birds. Winston made big plays down the stretch that kept drives alive and appeared very cool under pressure in overtime.

Loser: Geno Smith didn’t have an awful stat line of picks. He played decently in relief of the injured Ryan Fitzpatrick….right until the very end when he made more than one boneheaded play with the game on the line. There was little hope of a comeback, but Geno made sure the hope was down to zero by taking a sack and not running out of bounds on key plays with little time remaining.

Winner: Raider Nation can finally be proud. The Raiders handled the Jets nicely in a 34-20 win that showcased the Raiders’ young offense against a good defense. Carr and company had a big game, and the QB1 threw four touchdowns as his team moved to 4-3.

Loser: Cowboy Karma is my only explanation for the Dallas crew after dropping another game without Tony Romo. Maybe Greg Hardy is such a bad person that karma has settled in over ATT Stadium and refuses to leave. Good.

Winner: Russell Wilson’s comeback win against Dallas was never in doubt. A two-point lead against Wilson was nothing, especially against Dallas. Matt Cassel made some nice runs along the way but only threw the ball for 97 yards. How was this game even close?

Loser: Matt Ryan. If I could trade Matt Ryan for Russell Wilson, I would do so right now. Wilson will never put up the big numbers Ryan is capable of, but Ryan is just floundering. He is forcing the ball in the red zone, and the results are horrendous.

Ryan’s play at home against a bad Bucs team was simply embarrassing.

Loser: Le’Veon Bell went down with a knee injury against Cincinnati. Just when things looked brighter for Pittsburgh with Ben Roethlisberger back in action, down goes their best player in Bell.

Winner: Drew freaking Brees threw 20 touchdowns against the Giants. OK, it was seven. That’s still pretty damn good for a guy who was thought washed up after a rough start to the 2015 season.

His Saints got the best of NY in a hell of a shootout that ended with a last second New Orleans FG.

Loser: Me, Steve Smith, and the Ravens. The meanest wideout in the history of the NFL tore his Achilles Tendon against San Diego. The Ravens got the victory but lost it’s best weapon at receiver. This will likely end the career of Smith, who stated before the year that 2015 would be his final season in the NFL. ‘

Smith can obviously still compete at a high level, but it’s time to set aside the shoulder pads. The “glorified punt returner” has nothing left to prove. The 36-year old was an elite player for 15 years and may have the numbers to reach the Hall of Fame. If this is the end for Steve Smith, I hope he ends up on a broadcast crew somewhere. I’d hate to never hear from the tough little guy again.

Winner: Cincinnati Bengals. They just keep on winning and are now 7-0 for the first time in their history. It was not a game of perfect quarterback play with Dalton and Roethlisberger combining for five INTs. This week it was AJ Green that put the offense on his shoulders, racking 11 catches and piling up 118 yards and a touchdown.

Loser: Ricardo Lockette got fully knocked out against Dallas. He lay motionless long after a hit that didn’t look that terrible. Looks are deceiving though, and the Seattle receiver was carted off the field. The concussion he suffered was one of the scariest we have seen in a while.

Loser: Aaron Rodgers. His Pack is no longer undefeated and his 77 yards passing was a big reason why. 77….for the entire game!

‘A Christmas Horror Story’ Latest Trailer Wreaks Havoc

0

a christmas horror story latest trailer wreaks havoc movie images 2015The joyous theme of Christmas mixed with the horrors of Halloween is all wrapped up in the movie, A Christmas Horror Story. The latest trailer showcases the over-the-top satirical horror movie, as it puts a new, darker twist on the typical holiday tale.

The basic premise of the movie is about families living in the small town of Bailey Downs. Unfortunately, there was a terrible tragedy at the local high school where evil spirits trapped three teens in a school basement in an attempt to recreate a gruesome version of the Nativity story. One family’s Christmas begins going off the rails when they realize there is something terribly wrong with their seven-year-old son. Meanwhile, another evil-spirited family is hunted down by Krampus, the demonic anti-Santa of Nordic mythology.

A Christmas Horror Story is part of the anthology series that centers on characters like the anti-Santa character Krampus, who will do whatever it takes to wreck havoc on the holidays.

Directed by Steven Hoban (Ginger Snaps, Black Christmas), Grant Harvey (Ginger Snaps) and Brett Sullivan (Saw IV, Ginger Snaps), there is evidently lots of experience when it comes to the Christmas/Horror genre amongst the crew.

In addition, the movie employs William Shatner as a drunk, conservative radio DJ, who reports the various attacks that occur in Bailey Downs during the holiday season. Also making an appearance in the film is George Buza (X –Men) as Santa, who tries to combat against the zombie outbreak happening at the North Pole. Ultimately, the movie climaxes, as Santa himself has to take on the evil Krampus.

Many moviegoers who are fans of Doughtery’s holiday-horror series are anticipating the release of Krampus in December, which features in on the mythological villain. However, A Christmas Horror Story gives audiences an idea of what they are in for when it comes to the evil spirit-crushing creature.

Early reviewers of the film note that A Christmas Horror Story has a slightly more horror-filled edge than its predecessors. In addition, many claim that the ending presents a twist that is apparently big enough to possibly save Christmas.

The film is presented as a series of different, yet intertwining stories. The movie seemingly utilizes William Shatner as the glue that holds everything together, as he weaves the horrific events that happen within each storyline.

Needless to say, it is clear this is a movie made for a niche audience. While the trailer paints the movie to be a relatively comedic horror film, it most likely won’t be a laugh-out-loud experience or a terrifying fright fest. It falls in between, perhaps perfect for a pair of moviegoers who differ in movie taste (i.e. one wanting horror and one wanting comedy).

a christmas horror story trailer 2015 imagesHowever, as the genre (holiday-horror) continues to expand and grow from earlier releases such as Trick ‘r Treat and Ginger Snaps, it is clear there is a wide enough audience to justify the continuation of such films.

The movie was first shown at the Fantasia International Film Festival in July, where most viewers gave it modest reviews. Rob Hunter of Film School Rejects said of the movie, “just like every anthology film ever made, A Christmas Horror Story is a mixed bag – of gifts and coals presumably – but as a whole it lands as a mediocre affair. See it for Shatner and the Santa vs. Zombie elves segment, but be sure to get a gift receipt.”

Thus, A Christmas Horror Story is getting a more modest release, as it will be available on Itunes and Video On Demand the same day of its limited release. However, it will gear audiences up for the bigger holiday horror film that I previously mentioned, Krampus, which is due out in theaters on December 4, 2015.

PC Does What? But What is a PC?

0

pc does what 2015 tech imagesPC sales have significantly slumped during the mobile revolution. As it turns out, for most people, all they really need is a good smartphone or a tablet for their average computing needs like connecting to the internet, reading email, catching up on the news, chatting with friends and posting to social media. Only a few years back did people had to have a laptop or desktop to do all the things mentioned. Now tablets and smartphones have taken over. To revitalize the industry for both Windows/Intel (Wintel) desktop and laptops, PC manufacturers created the PC Does What campaign showcasing what’s new in the PC world. After watching the ads, from a consumer point of view, I went from ‘okay!’ to ‘so?’

During the video game craze of the late 70s and early 80s, people bought personal computers such as the Commodore 64 and the Amiga not just to play those games, but to do more, inspired by movies like Tron and War Games. To dabble with coding through BASIC, to balance checkbooks with Lotus 123, to write with WordStar and to do taxes with TurboTax. No internet back then and the closest thing to the internet were text based bulletin boards. It was the beginning of the digital age, and early techies wanted more than just an Atari 2600. Then came the video game crash of 1983 that saturated the market with bad games and crap apps like we have today and many lost interest in those early computers.

In the 90s when the internet was at its toddler years. The internet and the world-wide-web were the new buzzwords, and we now had those colorful information-filled web pages and we had to see that dancing baby video for ourselves. The only way to enter those new-fangled colorful animated GIF-laden websites with cool blinking and mint and fuchsia text was to get a Macintosh or a PC. Laptops back then cost a fortune and tablets were non-existent, except maybe for Apple’s Newton. Apple was in a rut back then so many bought PCs. And even though Steve Jobs came back to Apple and began selling hot colorful iMacs and MacBooks, many people still bought PCs. By the end of the 90s, a large percentage of US homes had a desktop or laptop computer running Windows or OS X to surf the Internet and play Doom. The PC industry was in its heyday until the early 2000s when the iPhone and the iPad came along. When social media and games got ported to mobile devices, that was the beginning of the end of the Golden age of PCs.

Even though the acronym PC stands for personal computer, which encompasses Windows-based, Linux-based, MacOS-based desktop and laptop computers, tablets, NUCs and most smartphones, the term PC mostly refers to Windows-based computers with an Intel or AMD processor. As long as the computer was used and even customized by an individual, it was personal, no matter the form, but somewhere along the way, the Wintel platform became associated with the acronym, PC. Sales of PCs, however, began to drop as many consumers found out that they didn’t require big clunky desktops or heavy laptops to get into the internet and interact with it to get their email, socialize and even buy stuff. All they needed was Wi-Fi, a tablet or a smartphone or both. They no longer needed a computer for themselves and for every kid in the house. If they can afford a computer, then so be it, and those people comprise the consumer percentage of laptops and desktop sales. Businesses still needed PCs to crunch their numbers, to keep inventory and to edit and create content. But recent economic trials forced them to hold off on upgrades, not to mention some disasters (Windows Me, Vista, and Windows 8) on Microsoft’s OS front. Even Mac sales were cannibalized by the iPad and the iPhone, but Apple doesn’t mind, much.

This slump led many to internet articles that say that the PC concept was on life-support. It’s probably true if all people did was tweet on Twitter, lurk on Facebook, post their dinners on Instagram and watch videos on YouTube on their smartphones and tablets. But people still need their PCs and Macs to save all those photos and videos of their vacation, to print them for posterity, to take their work home, to create art, to edit videos, to write novels (good luck with that using a tablet or smartphone), to work on spreadsheets (good luck with that one too), to design buildings and machines and make blueprints, and to develop those very mobile apps that sucked out the PC bottom line. Well, businesses and many consumers still need their PCs and those articles saying that the PC is dead couldn’t be further than the truth.

But the truth is that the PC industry has hit the bottom lately (thanks Microsoft, Apple) so major PC vendors Dell, HP, Lenovo and Intel came up with a campaign called PC Does What to revitalize sales. Sales of what though? Just laptops? While laptops qualify as PCs, desktops aren’t featured in the series of ads in the campaign. Many PC veterans were hoping that some sleek desktops might be included in the campaign to promote sales since they are the ones most affected by the mobile revolution. Well, the vendors know what they’re doing probably as this could simply be the first wave of ads.

However, the ads really don’t feature the stuff that PCs can really do. The ads simply show the same apps available on tablets and smartphones like watching videos, playing games, looking at images and listening to music. The ads show how flexible and thin new laptops are and how they can easily emulate any tablet. The content can hardly compel consumers to toss their phones and tablets. It’s like saying there are new devices in town, and they’re called PCs and they do these same things that tablets can do, and they have keyboards!

There’s this ad where a hotel worker slips a thin laptop under someone’s hotel room door while he left thick newspapers in front of others. There’s this ad where a woman on the beach was given a laptop with a picture of the same horizon everyone was looking at. There’s an ad where a coach was using a laptop with a screen that does a 360 to become a tablet during gym class and an ad where a bunch of rescue workers in a helicopter were listening to music, and the guy waiting to be rescued in the middle of the ocean was doing the same. I’m actually in the market for a tablet right now to do all of that.

If the point of the ad campaign is to say that PC can do all those things and that laptops and desktops aren’t all ‘work,’ then the ad did its job. But the campaign failed to consider why consumers went mobile in the first place if that’s all PCs can do. The only ad that worked there was the one catering to PC gamers as laptops recently made inroads in that area. If you could remember the cheesy ads in the 70s, 80s and 90s where families get together around a computer or some gadget playing a game or even coding BASIC, those ads somehow worked. Those scenarios are actually working for the Raspberry Pi as parents are actually getting their kids into coding. The thing is, the ads could probably do more. A pity Microsoft wasn’t in the mix to show how a PC can be a tablet at the same time and also show people someone working on a Surface Pro who just submitted their taxes to the IRS with a large message on the screen saying Taxes Accomplished! Also like that ad for Windows holographic showing someone working on a desktop designing a motorcycle while using the Hololens. Or an ad showing someone connecting a tablet or phone to a PC, getting images and videos and creating a home movie which is later played on a large TV with the laptop connected to it. How about an ad, again with a desktop or laptop showing a gamer connecting an Oculus Rift to play a VR game? PC Does What indeed.

We’re not demolishing the ad team here, but we’re saying they could do better with a few suggestions. These could just be the first wave of ads. After all, we all want the same thing; to revitalize the PC industry. To get people back indoors so they won’t get run over by a speeding car while browsing their phones. But seriously, for people to be more flexible and keep PCs around for much longer, Macs, Chromebooks and Linux boxes included.

Solange Knowles Protects Son From Online Ugliness & Amy Schumer Awarded

solange knowles protects son from online ugliness 2015 gossipWhile celebrities are no strangers to rude and cruel comments on their Instagram posts, Solange Knowles proved that she wasn’t going to put up with it when a follower called her son “ugly” on a picture she posted of him.

On Halloween, Solange shared a picture of her 11-year-old son Julez dressed up like LL Cool J. The young boy donned a matching red tracksuit, white sneakers, a fuzzy black bucket hat and headphones. Along with the photo, Solange captioned, “Young Cool J too cool for ghost and goblins.”

Solange Knowles, Instagram post:

On the photo, one follower wrote “So cute but at the same time ugly.”

Shortly after, Solange responded in a surprisingly politely way, saying, “Jussst as I thought it was safe to share pictures again, a young’n like you decides to use her time to spread ugliness. I don’t fault you, I can only imagine why you would feel the need to say such things, but thanks again for being a reminder that out of all the love and wonderful energy shared, that when I open up a space for an innocent beautiful being like my boy to be criticized and judged, that I WILL most likely respond, and that he receives enough love and celebration at home that it’s just not worth it to go down this road. I hope that this really resonates with you and you make better decisions in the future towards how you use your words towards innocent children.”

Unfortunately, as long as there is social media there will always be room for trolls.

amy schumer hollywood film awards 2015 gossipOn Sunday, stars gathered at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for 2015’s Hollywood Film Awards. At the ceremony plenty of the big names in Hollywood got honored for their work, including it-girl comedian Amy Schumer.

Amy received the Hollywood Comedy Award from Revival singer Selena Gomez. When introducing Amy to the stage, Selena gushed, “I talk about her obsessively. I’ve tweeted her often. I try to impersonate her, and it doesn’t really work. I actually just met her so basically what I’m saying is I’m really happy that clearly Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t able to do this tonight because I love you.”

Selena went on to praise Schumer for being the first comedian “to speak to the women of my generation.”

Gomez continued to open up about Schumer’s impact on her personally, saying, “Amy, you’ve inspired me to not take myself too seriously when I sit on my couch, and I’m depressed about certain things. You constantly made me feel I’m a bad ass even though most of the time I’m not. You say the things I wish I could say, and you never ever make me feel bad about anything I do in my personal life.”

Amy joined Selena on stage and accepted the award Amy jokingly told the young singer, “I didn’t even ask Jen – Selena, you were my first choice.”

Along with Amy, some other honorees of the night included Will Smith, Jane Fonda, Joel Edgerton, as well as director Ridley Scott and the casts of both Furious 7 and Straight Out of Compton.
