Will the Kardashians Do Right By Lamar Odom?

will kardashians do right by lamar odom kim khloe 2015 images gossipWhat can we say about the Kardashian/Jenner family, in particular about the Kardashian/Jenner women? Are they attention whores? Yes. Do they get it twisted and think that they are the end all of end alls? Most definitely. Do they over saturate just about every single media outlet there is? No doubt about it. But that doesn’t mean that they are bad people.

That’s a given. A person’s inability to get the hint or even care for that matter, that they are doing the most, doesn’t mean they lack the emotions common to the rest of humanity. With that, the Lamar Odom situation is the perfect example of how this family rolls for those about whom they care. It is also a perfect example of how they are willing to capitalize on horrible situations, which is what is being reported by outlets who claim that the Kardashians have a camera crew with them while at Lamar Odom’s bedside.

kobe bryant at lamar odom hospital 2015 gossipLet me just say here that I am not taking away from how they have rallied around the NBA star. His being found unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel by two women (one of which is a transsexual courtesan) is beyond sad. The Kardashians dropped everything and headed his way as did Kobe Bryant, who reportedly left a game to be by his former teammate/ forever friend’s side. So I definitely give them credit for that. They ride hard. But the rumors of them bringing a camera crew is beyond unsettling to me.

When I first heard that they are potentially catching this on film for their show, I was disgusted. This man is fighting for his life, and Khloe is reportedly “inconsolable” so why the hell would they do that? Then, I thought about it. This is the family known for the salacious and scandalous so with that in mind, why the hell would they not?

Is it in poor taste for them to film this? You betcha. Is it in even more poor taste if they actually show it on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians?” Right again.

While there have been countless reports that they are indeed getting all of this on camera, a source close #KUWTK vehemently denies that they are doing anything of that nature. In fact, E!, the network that airs the show, released a statement debunking those accusations.

“Lamar Odom appeared on several seasons of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” as well as two seasons of his own series “Khloe and Lamar.” We are saddened to hear of his condition and are sending our thoughts and prayers out for his recovery. “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” is not currently shooting in Las Vegas.”

I am going to graze over the fact that E! saying KUWTK is not “currently shooting in Las Vegas” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not being filmed (with this story in mind) in Los Angeles… Leaving that right there.

kris jenner with lamar odom at hospital 2015 gossipIt’s crazy because what was reported initially is so shocking. For E! to say differently almost makes it hard to know whom to believe.

According to RadarOnline, who were the first to claim a camera crew presence:

It’s [a] s**t show,” a source close to the situation told Radar. “The Kardashians are trying to run everything. They walked into the hospital with cameras rolling. It was shocking, but hardly a surprise.”

It goes on further to say that all the tears and show of dismay is just them pretending to care. That’s a pretty outrageous assertion. Would they really go to those lengths for a TV show? I’d like to think they wouldn’t.

That is why on this situation, and if it is true that they don’t have a camera crew with them, I have to give the K Club props. We all know that this would make for “great TV” (you know it’s true) and we all know that Kris is all about “great TV.” But thank God they have some kind of filter to know this shit is not meant for the whole world to see. Ratings are not everything. This whole Lamar situation is like a plot point straight out of Lee Daniels “Empire.” You’ve got drinking, a transsexual, drugs, faux Viagra, and then a fallen celebrity deep in a coma.

Despite their questionable behaviors and mindsets, I do think that the Kardashians are like any other family. They love each other, they love their friends, and they go to war for the things and people that mean something to them.

Now do I entirely believe that they are not documenting this in some form of fashion with the intent to use it later? No. I can’t quite put my finger on why but I have a feeling that there is a slight possibility that we will see this in their show in one way or another. But for now, I am looking at the situation from the aspect that these people are just that- people. And right now they are hoping, wishing and praying for someone that they love.

Lamar Odom: A Basketball Player Somewhere Deep Inside that Unconscious Body

0

lamar odom basketball player somewhere deep 2015 nba“I just want to be Lamar Odom,” said the 6’10 New York high school basketball prodigy, addressing the media during a practice back in 1996. “Not anyone else.”

There’s a reason people were calling him the ‘Next Magic.’ He always made it look effortless. Just like the Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Famer, Odom was a center with the fluidity and grace of a point guard. He could shoot on you, drive on you, rebound over you, dish it out with the best of them, and he always kept a great attitude about himself.

The game of basketball was easy for Lamar. Unfortunately, not much else was.

Odom’s mother died when he was 12, his father was a heroin addict, he was constantly jumping schools, his original college scholarship was revoked almost immediately, had all kinds of trouble with the NBA Draft process, had multiple drug violations once he finally hit the pros after being drafted 4th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers—one of the worst franchises in professional sports at the time—got clean, and then had to bury his aunt and six-month-old son.

I’ll give you a minute to let that sink in.

Through all of this, Odom had basketball, the one thing in his life that always seemed to go well, maybe even perfect.

Odom was a member of the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2000 with the Clips, averaging over 16 points and four assists along with nearly eight rebounds per game during his rookie campaign. He would go on to spend the next three years of his career there as well.

In 2003, the Miami Heat brought in Odom to play alongside their new, young talent in Caron Butler and Dwayne Wade. In South Beach, Odom had the best scoring season of his career, putting up over 17 points per game while still grabbing almost ten rebounds.

Odom was then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in the deal that sent NBA All-Star and Legend Shaquille O’Neal to the Heat. With the Lakers, Odom’s career and fame really took off.

Odom spent seven seasons with the Lakers as one of the key contributors on the team alongside greats such as Derek Fisher and Kobe Bryant. Even with other high-profile big men on the roster such as Andrew Bynum (bet you haven’t heard that name in a while) and Pau Gasol, Odom always managed more than his fair share of play time, points, and rebounds, averaging a double-double two season with the Lakers and coming a few rebounds a game away in the other five. The Lakers began using Odom as a sixth man in 2008 backing up Gasol and Bynum.

Of course, playing for the Lakers came with tons of perks for the big man. Dating a Kardashian, back-to-back NBA Championships in 2009 and 2010, and then the Sixth Man of the Year Award for his efforts coming off the bench in 2011.

Through all of this, there were more hardships. Odom was involved in a terrible traffic accident in 2011 which took his cousin’s life as well as a teenager on a motorcycle. The Lakers tried to trade him to the New Orleans Hornets later that year for Chris Paul. The NBA vetoed the trade, but Odom felt extremely “disrespected” by the team he had done so much for that he requested a trade to a contender.

The Dallas Mavericks took advantage of the opportunity, sending a first round pick and about $9 million in trade exception the Lakers way for the big man.

That’s about the time everything for Odom started to go downhill.

Odom began missing games for personal reasons, struggled on the court to the point where the Mavs he to demote him to the D-League, and eventually was traded back to the Clippers at the end of the season. Odom played in all 82 games between 2012 and 2013, but that’s about the only notable thing he did on the court.

A stint with Spanish ACB League Laboral Kutxa and the New York Knicks later, Odom was a free agent.

A spin-off reality TV show, a divorce, the death of two of his best friends due to drug overdose, and a few alcohol and drug abuse stories of his own later, Odom was found unconscious at the Love Ranch South whorehouse in Nevada.

He was reportedly planning an NBA comeback, too.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Odom and his family during these trying times. Things aren’t looking great in the hospital, but hopefully he can pull through.

Justin Theroux Opens Up For Ellen & Heidi Klum Gets Personal

justin theroux opens up for ellen 2015 gossipNormally, newlywed Justin Theroux is relatively private when it comes to his relationship with wife, Jennifer Aniston. However, as a guest on Wednesday’s episode of Ellen, Justin decided to spill some of the details of his life as a married man.

After a three-year engagement, Justin, 45, married Jennifer, 46, in a top-secret backyard wedding at their home in Los Angeles in August. The wedding was officiated by late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and was a star-studded event including guests such as Howard Stern, Emily Blunt and of course, Ellen and her wife, Portia.

In his interview with Ellen, Justin explains, “the first couple days of [marriage], t’s a great feeling. ‘Fiancé,’ after a while, sounds cute at first…then, you get to say, ‘my wife.’”

Justin also opened about telling his guests that they were coming to a birthday party. Justin revealed, “Well it was actually a massive miscalculation. Because we thought, like, we’re going to tell some people this and some people that and then people that really have to that have busy schedules and whatever. So then afterwards, we kind of realized, like, that was a terrible plan, because your basically telling half your guests, ‘You’re unemployed and we can’t trust you,’ which was of course not the cast.” He went on to say, “There were people there who were just in jeans. We also have friends who, when we’ve done barbeques and stuff, show up, like, dressed to the nines, like, ‘This is the [wedding] right?’ and we’re like, ‘No, this is actually a barbeque!”

heidi klum talks work life and kids 2015 redbook imagesIn the latest edition of Redbook, model, Project Runway judge, and America’s Got Talent host Heidi Klum opens up about juggling her work life and home life as a mother of 4 kids.

After finalizing her divorce with ex-husband Seal in October 2014, Heidi found herself taking on a lot more responsibility when it came to taking care of her 4 children: Leni, 11, Lou, 6, Henry, 10, and Johan, 8.

In the interview, Heidi opened up about her thoughts on women and their ability to multitask, saying, “Women are capable of juggling a lot of balls – we do things that guys cannot do. Men typically can juggle only one ball, and even then they’re like, ‘I’m confused. Should I put it in my right or left hand? A lot of them have a very hard time just trying to figure out what to do with that one ball. And often they want us to hold that one, too!”

In terms of sharing custody of her kids with Seal, Heidi explained, “Obviously things have changed, but they haven’t changed drastically. [Seal] was never your typical dad who left for work in the morning with his briefcase and would be home by dinnertime every night…He traveled a lot. The kids knew it was part of his job. I’m a mom and a dad at the same time.”

Tablet Wars: The Empire’s Comeback

Latest Secret Weapon: the Surface Book

Microsoft has done it again. Last October 6, everyone was anticipating the new features of the Surface Pro 4, the new Microsoft Band, the Lumia 950s and possibly an update on the Hololens. All that was there but the world was in for another surprise. Microsoft launched its own homebrew designed laptop, the Surface Book. Just like they did last January, Microsoft again gave the world something it totally did not expect.

Some tech writers who have already been anticipating every possible upgrade to the Surface Pro 3 and were hardly interested with the new Lumias, were expecting another boring presentation; but were very surprised to see the new Surface Book and the ability of the new Lumias to function as PCs once connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

The Surface Book is Microsoft’s first laptop. Sure, it becomes a tablet but it was designed to be a laptop first, tablet later unlike the Surface Pro which was a tablet first, laptop later. The Surface Book is a nice piece of work sporting a revolutionary ‘dynamic’ hinge giving this hybrid more of the ‘lapability’ factor which hindered other Surface models. Surface Pros, and those like it, were supposed to double as laptops but can’t exactly be put on laps. The Surface Book changes that. The base functions more than a keyboard/touchpad. It has a discreet GPU, extra batteries and USB ports. The GPU allows the Surface Book to be used as a gaming machine but not as hardcore. Microsoft has obviously targeted the MacBook and iPad Pro by claiming that the Surface Book has double the power. Conference attendees were mostly positive on the new Surface Book as well as the Surface Pro 4. Both products use the new Intel Skylake processors and prices depend on the processor used. The Surface Book starts with 8GB of RAM, a Skylake Intel Core i5 processor and 128 GB storage with a price of $1499.00 at the low end; and uses a Skylake i7 processor, 16GB RAM and 512GB storage priced at $2699.00 at the high end.

As for the Surface 4, it also sports a Skylake processor as predicted. The bezel’s also been thinned out for the 12.3-inch device. Microsoft’s purchase of N-Trig has also resulted in an updated Surface Pen. The Surface Pro 4 also has updated keyboard covers with better key placements which can also work with older models.

Lessons from Apple

Clearly, Microsoft took a page out of Apple’s ‘one more thing’ concept. There is power in surprising people. Ideas get drilled into the mind. Microsoft will be cool again. If Microsoft maintains this behavior, their conferences will become just as anticipated as Apple’s product launches, though long lines leading up to the Microsoft Stores remains to be seen. But now, Microsoft under Satya Nadella is headed in the right direction. Due to the success of the Surface Pro 3 and the Surface 3, anticipation was built around the Surface Pro 4

Back then, Microsoft had been demonstrating Windows on laptops built by its partners. Now, Microsoft designed its own laptop around Windows 10. Just like what it did with the Surface and Windows 8, Microsoft aims to teach OEMs how laptops should be made and how Windows should be treated in order for it to be successful. Once again were reminded of the Windows Vista fiasco when vendors slapped the demanding operating system on underpowered laptops. Same thing happened when Windows 7 was installed on first-gen Atom netbooks. Those things crawled like pitiful snails opening the door to Linux and people moving to Macs and Macbooks. But at least Microsoft learned to get rid of the bloat and optimize their operating systems beginning with Windows 7 and carried up to Windows 10.

It’s fortunate that Microsoft never wavered from the idea of shoving Windows into tablets. Since the iPad, everyone wanted touch, including the enterprise. But the enterprise still needed Windows. Microsoft needed to keep a tough grip on the enterprise, get everyone into the cloud, save face from Windows 8, and drop Windows 7 so they can’t afford to make mistakes with Windows 10. Let’s make them want this operating system by making stuff that goes well with it. Ultra portability, style, power and efficiency. All of which are present in the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4. Also, Microsoft again borrows a page from Apple, which is premium pricing. Though as corrosive as Xenomorph blood in our pockets, Microsoft wants to send a message. The price equates to quality, not to mention the urge to acquire. They’re serious about businesses and are geared towards certain demographics, executives, business power users, and the can-afford-Apple crowd. But what about other users?

Clones are Good

They’re for the OEMs to take care of. The success of the Surface Pro 3 gave rise to several Surface clones at varying price ranges. It’s been a while since the term clone has been used in the PC landscape. Every beige box that’s supposed to be compatible to the original IBM-PC was called a clone. Now manufacturers are making large tablets with kickstands and attachable keyboard covers running on either Windows 10 or Windows 8.1. Because of Microsoft’s success in the enterprise and the Surface 3, Apple released its own enterprise tablet, the iPad Pro, a large iPad with its own stylus and attachable keyboard but runs iOS. It’s unfortunate however that Apple didn’t opt to use El Capitan and used the limited iOS. Meanwhile, HP just released the HP Spectre X2, Dell the XPS 12, Lenovo has the Miix 700 and Google has well, the Pixel C. Can we soon expect Surface Book clones too?

So, if you want something done right, do it yourself. Microsoft has finally decided to take the reins in the PC industry and get the hardware and software done right, which Apple has been doing since forever. A couple of years ago, during the tablet onslaught, the PC industry was on life support. Microsoft just defibrillated the PC industry back to life. Shock and awe was the answer. It’s always been for Apple. The PC isn’t dead yet. It just needed to be kicked at the right spot to wake up. If the Surface Book, Surface Pro 4 and subsequent clones become successful, the Microsoft Empire will be on top once again.

Fantasy Football for Smart People: How to Win at daily Fantasy Sports Book Review

fantasy football for smart people how to win 2015 images nflA self-help book on fantasy football. Really? Yep, I’m a sicko. I don’t know how else to get better at fantasy sports. I can’t just copy the winners’ lineups for the next week. That doesn’t work. Learning by trial and error is expensive and playing free games is not the same as the real deal. The best players don’t play for free, and if they do, their effort is not the same in the free contests…maybe on purpose. Right off the bat, here’s where you can get this incredible book so after reading my review, you know you can just head back up here to get it.

Many would say I wasted $10 on a book that is supposed to help me become a better daily fantasy sports player. I don’t see it that way at all. I like DFS and want to get better at it, plus I find it interesting whether I ever hit it big or not.

Am I pleased with my purchase and would I buy the same book by Jonathan Bales again? Yes, and yes.

I enjoyed the guy’s writing style, and he made it fun, even when the numbers talk got to be a bit over my head. The email he sent as he quit his season long fantasy football league was worth the ten bucks.

“Despite doing everything necessary to win, I will not be in the championship this season. I have been the total points leader all six years the league has been in existence, yet have won a playoff championship just once,” Bales writes.

What a baby! And I fully see where he was coming from!

The main things I got out of the book was strategy. It is not possible for a novice like me to just try to do what the experts do. I need to know why they pick the guys they pick. I can’t reverse engineer their team from the previous week. Injuries, defensive matchups, and even wind speed makes that tactic unworkable.

Bales lays it out very clearly. He is a fan of Guaranteed Prize Pools and sees that as the best way to make real money as DFS gets bigger. His strategy is to be a contrarian on the picks. While that’s not a new idea, he breaks it down into specific details that make sense to the average Joe.

In a GPP you are up against thousands of opponents, maybe even over 100,000 players. Choosing a team in this type contest is much different than picking one when you just need to beat half the field or H2H against another numbskull like me.

Bales breaks down how to improve your odds by picking a couple guys that will not be on the radar of most of your competition. The dice example he gives made my head spin, but I got the point. To beat an army of GPP opponents, you have to separate yourself from that field by drafting players that no one else will touch, even if that means finishing in the bottom 10% of those contests the majority of the time.

Knowing who most of the field will choose for their team is just as important as how many touchdowns Tom Brady has thrown the past three games that he played while it was raining.

If your lineup is the same as most others, then you will finish in the middle of the pack almost every time. That won’t pay off according to the book. It makes sense. Swing for the fences and hope to hit it once a season on a big pot and your contrarian plays have paid off.

Bales gives solid advice on “cash games” (50/50 and H2H) as well. His strategy is to pick consistent players that are unlikely to let you down. It doesn’t matter if your tight end is averaging 17 points a game if he has a four game log of 17-0-17-0 points. You can’t trust the guy not to tank on the week you draft him in a cash game.

You’re better off to pick a tight end with a high floor ( the lowest likely outcome of points) according to Bales. Pick players that score steady fantasy points each week, not guys that are up and down like a roller coaster….no matter how high their ceiling is. That way you will post decent numbers each week and win more than you lose against a single opponent or be able to beat half the field in 50/50 contests.

“Fragile” and “antifragile” are words that pop up over and over as Bales used these terms from some super smart stock market guy that predicted the 2007 economic collapse and benefited from it. Fragile lineups in fantasy sports are ones that are easily broken. So the point is to make your team anti-fragile but tweaking them in relation to your competition.

Like I said, all the numbers talk can be overwhelming, and then you toss in a financial guru’s thoughts on fragileness, it can be easy for your mind to wander. But if you stick with the book it offers plenty of common sense theories and actual in-game tactics.

I learned a lot about Bales’ techniques that have helped me in my fantasy games. I’m not a shark as of yet and may never get to that point. I would be happy just being one of the parasitic fish that hangs on the side of the sharks for now.

Here are a few of the best tips I gleaned from the book.

– Running backs that can catch the ball are good in any game whether it’s a blowout or not. Think about it and you will get it. A pure old school running back does you no good if his team is down by 17 points.

– Wind Speed is the big factor with QBs. More so than rain, sleet, or snow.

– Get good at predicting ownership of players. Guessing who most of your opponents will draft can help you win a big GPP.

– It can also help you be safe in a cash game. If you know most people are going with Julio Jones in week four, and then even if he bombs, it doesn’t hurt you since most of your opponents will bomb with you and Julio.

– Avoid the sharks of the fantasy world. They intend to move your money to their accounts. Make a list of the best in the world and do not play them head to head, until you feel like you can handle the challenge. That may be years, though. There are plenty of rookies to challenge.

I enjoyed “Fantasy Football for Smart People” even though I’m not in the target demographic. It helped me with logical tips and overall fantasy strategy. The point of daily fantasy sports is to make money. To do that, I don’t need to score through the roof each week. I just need to outscore my particular opponent on a specific day.

If you check out the book, you will get hit with a lot of plugs for Bales’ website “FantasyLabs.com.” It has some free content, but it is also a premium site that costs $59 per month. I am in the process of testing it out the rest of October, so I will have a review up after that trial run. There is a ton of data there!

fantasy football for smart people 2015 review imagesFor most people, the book will be enough to help out with casual fantasy play. The book is entertaining and may just put you ahead of the guy too lazy to read a self-help book on daily fantasy sports. I would guess that’s about 90 percent of our competition.

Could Khloe Kardashian Save Lamar Odom From Himself?

could khloe kardashian save lamar odom from himself 2015 gossipThe news about former Lakers player Lamar Odom continues to be uncertain concerning his condition. It has been less than 24 hours since he was found unconscious in a brothel in Las Vegas and rushed to a local hospital. As of right now, what we know is that he has had multiple strokes according to an MRI and that his organs may be failing.

While TMZ has reported that Lamar’s chances are 50/50, our source says that hospital staff are saying that only a miracle can save him at this point. What’s worse is that they have said if he does recover, the former basketball star only has a ten percent chance of not having any type of brain damage. “No one knows how long he was unconscious, and with all the drugs found in his system, it truly will take a miracle for him to come out of this unscathed,” they said.

We also know that his ex-wife Khloe Kardashian, her mother Kris Jenner and her sister Kim Kardashian are there too.

It is no secret that Lamar has been going through a lot over the past two years. It is also no secret that he has had a less than ideal childhood with his mother dying when he was 12 and his father being addicted to drugs. He seems to have always been on the “wrong side of the tracks” even after he entered the NBA. It also seems that his relationship with Khloe gave him some a kind of stability at one point, that he has never really had in his life.

That’s what I want to talk about because yes, the Kardashians get a lot of flack. Hell I give them a lot myself, but I am intrigued by their rallying around Lamar and in particular, Khloe reportedly being inconsolable. Looking at their relationship and how she is “heartbroken” over Lamar’s condition, it makes me wonder why they divorced in the first place. (No, they’re not technically divorced yet since the judgement has not yet been entered into court) Yes, I know it more than likely had to do with his drug problems, the difference in their careers and, let’s just be honest here, her family’s fame. But perhaps Khloe served as a kind of savior for the 35-year-old during their marriage. Maybe, she loved him because she thought she could save him (and for a time did) and seeing him now means that she failed.

Now I know that may not sound fair because no one can save another person, but that does not mean that we don’t try. I know I have. Because I believed that the good in me and my ability to lift myself up in trying times was strong enough to do the same for others. I found out the hard way that no amount of saving can make up for a person’s own desire to be saved.

I am exploring this notion because they seem to have been really in love. Lamar himself said that they were two people who fell in love with each other, but for whatever reason, things… life got in the way and put them in a place in which they felt it best to go their separate ways.

Their romance, like so many others, was a whirlwind. He loved her during the times in her life when others might say; she was not at her best or didn’t have a strong sense of love for herself.  They married in 2009 after only one month of meeting each other. I mean that says something right? They even televised their wedding on “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” (KUWTK) and at least according to her sister Kim, Khloe and Lamar had found true love.

“They’re very, very happy… They’ve been together a few weeks and are literally inseparable. Khloe thinks he’s amazing and makes her laugh and smile constantly.” Kim K. told people magazine.

From there they moved super fast, as in married five days after announcing their engagement fast.

Some may look at the facts and assume that there were ulterior motives all over the place. He had been with the mother of his children, Liza Morales, for over ten years, and they had never made it as far as walking down the aisle. What made Khloe Kardashian so special? Was it the fame and the newness. Or was it the way in which she made him feel; about life… about himself?

kris jenner with lamar odom at hospital 2015 gossipThe Kardashian clan embraced him, which is evident in the fact that they rushed to his side so quickly upon hearing about what happened to him. Kylie Jenner abruptly ended her live stream and Kendall Jenner tweeted this morning “please don’t go.” They gave him something that he probably never had, and that was the feel of family, regardless how screwed up they may seem in the eyes of the public.

Some jaded ones may say that this is great timing as “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” new season comes out in November, but sources have confirmed that no cameras of any kind have been allowed anywhere near the hospital. It’s also been stated by production sources that KUWTK is on hiatus. Yes, I know this storyline will find it’s way in, but hopefully they’ll handle it as delicately as they did with the double ‘About Bruce’ episodes.

Things were not easy as they both learned through trial and error, and it was clear that Lamar had some “demons” to work through. After being arrested for a DUI in 2103, he checked himself into a rehab facility and Khloe filed for divorce a month later.

Since their separation and their divorce, Khloe has expressed on numerous occasions the affection she still holds for Lamar, which has played out via conversations and phone calls in several episodes of KUWTK.

“Lamar and I loved each other deeply, and I don’t believe in just acting like that relationship never existed…. “Things happened, but that doesn’t just stop me from caring about him or loving him.”

According to a Complex magazine interview with Khloe, she speaks fondly of Lamar and seems clear on the fact that Lamar will always be that person for her.

“Lamar is genuinely one of the best people I’ve ever met…”

Maybe these two are the picture of what happens when true love happens too soon. As I am sure she and her family are praying and hoping for a miracle, we are too.

Detroit Lions & Jim Caldwell Show Lack of Confidence with Matthew Stafford Benching

0

Detroit Lions Jim Caldwell show lack of confidence in matthew stafford 2015 nfl imagesAfter throwing two interceptions against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday, Matthew Stafford was warned by Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell that he would be benched if he tossed a third. Well, apparently Stafford took that as a challenge and made it happen on the very next possession.

True to his word, Caldwell sent out Dan Orlovsky, who finished with 191 yards, a touchdown, and a pick of his own—much better than Stafford’s 188 yards and three INTs.

“It’s like a pitcher not having a very good day,” said Caldwell after the game. “That pitcher comes out and the pitcher, obviously, he’s still the starter. [Stafford is] still our starter, so there will be no issues there. There is no quarterback controversy or anything of that nature.”

Maybe they should bench Stafford. I mean, it wouldn’t make much sense financially after giving him $53 million. At this point, Stafford joins the list of quarterbacks that are too expensive to bench.

That doesn’t change the fact that Matthew Stafford is arguably the worst quarterback in the league this season. He leads the league with eight interceptions and is currently ranked 33rd overall in QB passer rating. In other words, Stafford is sucking in both regular and advanced statistics.

But let’s cut the former No. 1 overall pick some slack. After all, playing for the Detroit Lions is no cakewalk: the refs hate you, your run game is dead last in the NFL, and replacing the offensive line with any five fat guys you find at Walmart couldn’t make it any worse.

Ameer Abdullah has the hands of that guy from those old Burger King commercials that was too embarrassed to buy a Whooper, and no matter what general manager Martin Mayhew says, having small hands is a problem and ball security isn’t exactly easy to teach (three fumbles on 59 touches agrees).

The line isn’t giving the team (mainly Stafford and Abdullah) any help on the ground, either. Stafford has only taken seven sacks this season, but he is No. 2 in terms of being the subject of QB pressures. Needless to say, that backfield penetration isn’t helping Abdullah pick up any yardage.

At the end of the day, however, there is no excusing Stafford’s poor play. The Lions picked the former Georgia star after their historic 0-16 season, and six years later he is doing his best to lead them back to that mark.

That being said, I’m not sure I agree with Caldwell’s decision to bench Stafford. Talk about demoralizing—replacing Stafford shows a complete lack of commitment to the quarterback from the Lions’ end. You never see Peyton Manning or Tom Brady getting benched, no matter how poorly they play at any given point. That’s for players like Ryan Mallett and other non-franchise quarterbacks.

It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. Sure, Stafford could take the hint and pull it together this weekend against the Chicago Bears, but presenting competition doesn’t always make players better.

“I still don’t think he’s broken,” said offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi in the week leading up to the matchup with the Cardinals, referring back to comments he made back in January of last year when he was originally hired. “I think he’s a good player.”

Unfortunately, with the Lions sitting at 0-5, Stafford struggling tremendously in every aspect of the game, and the remaining hopes and dreams of Lions’ fans dying off quickly, there doesn’t seem to be much promise in the Motor City.

No, I don’t think the Lions will finish 0-16, but at this point they may as well start tanking for the top pick and do their best to wipe 2015 from their memories.

Will Lamar Odom Be A Wake-Up Call For Scott Disick?

will lamar odom be a wake up call for scott disick 2015 gossip

Friends are wondering if Lamar Odom’s fight for his life will be a wake-up call for “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star Scott Disick, who’s been reportedly on a serious downward spiral since his break up with Kourtney Kardashian. Several media outlets have reported that he has been suicidal and very erratic while mixing cocaine with alcohol and prescription drugs during the past few weeks.

Sources are already claiming that friends have been trying to create an intervention situation to hopefully avoid what has happened to Odom as they feel Disick is already well on that path already.

Hollywood Life has claimed that Kourtney is very concerned for her ex. They’re source said that the situation with Lamar has frightened her and has also shown her that she needs to get him help somehow. If not, her children could grow up without a father, which is the same probability now with Odom’s children.

Another source has said that they hope by Scott seeing Lamar in the hospital bed attached to the machines giving him life this will be the wake-up call he’s needed for some time.

Disick was at a grocery store in LA when he literally dropped everything after learning about Lamar. He immediately headed to Vegas to be with Khloe Kardashian, Kris Jenner and rarely seen Rob Kardashian. We reported that Lamar Odom was partying with Ryder Cherry and transsexual porn star Madison Montag, according to Love Ranch’s Dennis Hof’s interview with US Magazine.

Lamar Odom was found at the Love Ranch brothel by two women he was partying with, Ryder Cherry and Madison in an unresponsive state after having not been seen by workers for nearly nine hours. The brothel called 911, and Odom was stabilized before being taken to the Desert View Hospital. He initially was to be transported to Sunrise Hospital but due to his stature could not fit in the helicopter, so he was taken via ambulance to a Las Vegas hospital. Sources with the hospital have already said that the time lost by him having to be brought by ambulance may “affect his outcome.”

The Love Ranch owner, Dennis Hof, says that the 35-year-old Odom was staying with him at his house, which is attached to the brothel, over the weekend. Odom reportedly told Hof that he “wanted to get away from everybody, wanted to have fun.” He was found by two women who say “terrible stuff came out” of his mouth when they turned him over. The ‘terrible stuff’ was a mucous like fluid that came from both his nose and mouth. No one has stated how long Odom was unconscious.

Hof said Odom had been taking herbal Viagra and had drunk part of a bottle of cognac since arriving, but had no knowledge of his use of any other drugs. An employee from Odom’s management company was sent to pick up Odom’s backpack and cellphone, Hof also said.

Reports abound about Odom’s condition with some claiming he is brain dead after being unconscious for a period of time. Lamar’s father, Joe Odom, believes that whatever happened to his son was no accident because despite what he was going through, he wouldn’t do anything to end his life.

“Somebody drugged my son. There’s no way he’s down there partying crazy like that. No way. I knew something was wrong because I’ve been calling him all day, and he hasn’t been answering.”

There is no doubt that Joe Odom’s emotions are all over the place. He and his son have had a somewhat complicated relationship in the past, but that, of course, does not lessen the sting of possibly losing him.

“I’m depressed right now — this is messed up! What can I do right now? That’s my son. I’m really hurt right now. This is the first time I’m hearing about it. Let’s give this some time. I pray that he will come out of this.”

Joe continued on asking Lamar’s fans to pray for his son and urges anyone, including Khloe Kardashian, to come forth if the know anything about what happened.

“If Khloe knows anything about this, please, tell her to call me. We all love Lamar and want him to pull through this…”

Khloe Kardashian along with Kris Jenner are reportedly heading to Las Vegas with Rob Kardashian at this writing. She and Lamar’s break-up is also being considered a contributing factor to the events that lead to this situation by his family.

Just two months ago, the media painted Lamar as an addict who stalks his wife and who has trouble moving on. During an encounter caught on tape, he was seen “ambushing” Khloe at an early morning workout.  After that situation, she supposedly said that all she cares about is his getting better because she was concerned about his well-being.

This is all a grave misfortune as Lamar has two children, Destiny, and son Lamar Jr., who look to him for support and love and a lot of years ahead with him. There has been no official diagnosis of his condition, but sources are already saying it will be a surprise if Odom makes it through the week. There has also been no word on what Nevada Sheriff’s detectives found, if anything, at the scene.

To make matters worse for the former basketball player, two of his close friends died also died this year. In June, Jamie Sangouthai, Odom’s best friend, died at age 37 due to a drug-related bacterial skin infection, and just days after Sangouthai’s death, Bobby Heyward, died of a reported drug overdose.

In a statement to CNN, Lakers spokesman John Black reacted to Lamar Odom’s hospitalization on Tuesday, Oct. 13. “We are aware of the reports but have no information to share at this time,” Black said. “I am not aware of any of our players being in contact with Lamar.”

Odom played for four teams during his 14 seasons in the NBA and was the Sixth Man of the Year for the 2010-11 season. Odom was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1999. He played four seasons there before signing with the Miami Heat. He was traded after one season to the Lakers along with several other players for Shaquille O’Neal.

He was a key part of the Lakers championship teams in 2009 and 2010.

7 Things to do While Waiting on Comcast Xfinity Repair aka 7 Circles of Hell

things to do while waiting for comcast 2015 tech

I’ve faced a big struggle the past week or so. One of the biggest challenges of my life. It wasn’t easy, but I made it through. To be fair I was not alone in this struggle. My family faced it with me so it was a bit of a team building process.

We are a stronger unit because of this test we just went through.

What was the ordeal, you ask? We just went eight days with no cable or internet. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

Since we have Comcast aka Xfinity in other places as our service provider we learned very quickly how little they cared about the issue. Sure customer service talked a good game and their Twitter guy @comcastcares, made some nice gestures. But it was obvious we were not a priority.

We could have done without the TV, but the internet….that’s a different story when my wife uses it for online classes and I use it for work.

Comcast originally said they would send someone out on Saturday (7 days after the outage from a tree falling on the line). That changed toTuesday.  I guess they had better things to do than help us since we only pay them $150+ a month.

Long story short, they finally got around to fixing our cable and internet service. It took eight days to get them out here, but only 30 minutes to do the actual repair.

The tech that came out was super nice and knew what he was doing. It’s too bad he works for a company that’s too big to care.

Our family learned a lot about how to deal with cave like conditions with no internet or TV available. So here are 7 things to do that will pass the time until Comcast can drive out to your residence to do their job, just in case you find yourself in such a horrific situation.

  1. Board games are a good way to pass the time. Just avoid Monopoly unless you like bickering.
  1. Learn a new language. You will have time, trust me.
  1. Use your phone as a hotspot to get as much done online as possible until you get real internet service back.
  1. Redbox!
  1. Going to sound crazy here, but try talking to your family members. Awkward at first but it’s like riding a bike.
  1. Research a different internet and TV provider by visiting your library to use their internet. People will think you are homeless because you’re using the library at all so you may have to explain the outage.
  1. Aggravate the Comcast Twitter account guy. Suggest that you can fix the cable if they email you instructions and ship you a ladder. I had fun with this.

Michael Vick to the Rescue of Pittsburgh Steelers with Roethlisberger Out

michael vick to the rescue for pittsburgh steelers 2015 nflMichael Vick Starting to Step Up for Pittsburgh Steelers, Injured Ben Roethlisberger

His year with the New York Jets wasn’t exactly one for the record, but Michael Vick is starting to remind people that he is actually a good quarterback.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens definitely didn’t help his image as he finished with only 124 yards in the overtime loss on Thursday Night Football. To be fair, though, Vick did more than enough to win the game—Josh Scobee, on the other hand, did not. On top of that, Vick had to adjust to starting in a new offense on a short week. Not the easiest thing to do, I imagine.

“Learning a new system, in general, is tough,” said Vick last week after the loss. “They’re so far along, so advanced with what they’re doing with Todd [Haley] and Ben and what they’ve been able to implement. It’s a great offense.”

It really is, and it’s one that Roethlisberger was extremely successful in last season. Steelers’ offensive coordinator Todd Haley didn’t change things up much to match Vick’s play style, either. The play-calling was altered a bit; however, they were not about to implement an entirely new scheme for their temporary starter.

“I thought Mike did a terrific job,” said Haley after the loss to Baltimore. “That was not an easy situation. That became a high-pressure situation. He was able to get us in and out of the huddle and run the play that was called. He did a commendable job with the short week of work.”

You wanna talk high pressure, Todd? Monday Night’s game against the San Diego Chargers went right down to the wire.

Not a problem.

Vick put on a show on the final drive of the game, stepping up when it mattered most to lead the Steelers all the way down the field for a last-second Le’Veon Bell touchdown. Unfortunately, all anyone is talking about from the game is that they had 18 less seconds to do so than they should have due to a clock operator error—all the more reason to be impressed by Vick’s drive.

Roethlisberger should be back in a few weeks, but Vick will be the guy when the Steelers take on the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday and more than likely will still be out there for the Week 8 matchup against the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals.

If Vick can lead the Steelers to a win in one or even both of these, the Houston Texans might as well try to get him when Big Ben comes back. Can’t get much worse down there.

Donald Trump Does Saturday Night Live Again & Bella Hadid In Gigi’s Shadow

donald trump doing saturday night live again 2015 gossipApparently Saturday Night Live is the new hangout for U.S. Politicians. Last Saturday, presidential candidate Hilary Clinton made a cameo on the late night skit show, and now it has been announced that controversial candidate Donald Trump will be hosting the November 7th episode of the show.

This will mark Trump’s second time hosting the show, as he formerly hosted it back in 2004 when he was the acting host of The Apprentice.

It was also announced that Sia would be the musical guest-accompanying Trump.

Although it may seem like a new thing for politicians to join the SNL cast, many big name politicians have been guests on the show. Some of which include Barack Obama, Sarah Palin and John McCain.

However, some are surprised that the show would have Trump on, as the network (NBC) just cut ties with him back in June. After his controversial stance on Mexican immigrants, NBC released a statement explaining:

“At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump. To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC. In addition, as Mr. Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in The Celebrity Apprentice on NBC. Celebrity Apprentice is licensed from Mark Burnett’s United Artists Media Group and that relationship will continue.”

It seems that the publicity that Trump will bring to the network outweighed their stance against his questionable views.
bella hadid living in gigis shadow 2015 gossip19-year-old Bella Hadid graces the cover of the latest edition of Seventeen magazine, In the issue, the young model opens about the struggles she faces being the younger sister of Gigi Hadid, who is currently one of the most in demand models in the fashion industry.

Bella explains that she is new to the modeling scene in comparison to her sister, who has been at it since she was a toddler. Bella says, “I just have to remind myself that she’s been doing this forever. I can’t keep comparing myself to her because we’re so different.” She goes on to say, “people still love to compare and contrast us – what’s better about her or what’s not that good about me – and it’s hard because people are really mean. But I’m her biggest supporter, and she’s my biggest supporter. We’re not competitive at all.”

The young model goes on to reveal some secrets about her older sister, saying, “What people don’t really know is that she’s actually hilarious, and she can eat whatever she wants. It’s really annoying.”

In contrast, Bella says she has to work hard to keep her model physique. Bella explains, “I eat a lot of pizza and really unhealthy food. I definitely gain weight, and I’m not naturally thin. I’m really self-conscious if I got to trainers, so I just do stuff on my own. I go on the treadmill or do yoga and Pilates if I can.”

However, even with a sister who is already very established in the modeling world, Bella has been able to pave her own path and create a name for herself within the cutthroat industry.

THE VOICE 907: Bye Manny More Battles To Come

the voice 907 bye manny 2015 recap imagesTuesday was The Voice’s second round of battles, where the judges pit two of their team members up against each other to fight for a spot in the knockout rounds. Once again talented advisors –Brad Paisley, John Fogerty, Selena Gomez and Missy Elliot – join coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, and Pharrell Williams as they try to finalize their teams for the upcoming knockout rounds and live performances.

So here is a recap of tonight’s battles:

  1. Team Adam

Keith Semple vs. Manny Cabo

“Baba O’Reilly” by The Who

The first battle of the night was between Team Adam’s Keith and Manny Cabo. Keith is an Irish rocker and father while Manny is a fashion photographer who also has a rocker edge.

Both of the artists were able to give high-energy performances, and it was a close battle as both musicians definitely have rockstar worthy chops. However, Adam ends up keeping Keith for his team and Manny was sent home, without getting a save from the other judges.

  1. Team Blake

Chris Crump vs. Krista Hughes

“When I get Where I’m Going” by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton

Blake once again pitted two four chair-turning artists against each other. He decided to put newlywed country boy Chris Crump against young country artist Krista Hughes.

It seems that Blake took a tip from Adam’s playbook, as he gave the two artists a song by their advisor, Brad Paisley. However, during the rehearsals both Blake and Brad are blown away by their version of the song. When Chris explains to Brad that he finds he is getting too emotional while singing, Brad quips back, “whenever you get too emotional…think of a shark attack!”

During the performance, Krista definitely had the upper hand, as her vocals stood out both in tone and volume. However, the judges felt that Chris connected more with the song and evoked ample emotions and thus, Blake decided to keep Chris on his team.

Unfortunately, Krista doesn’t land a save and is sent home.

After Blake’s battle, they show snippets of a Team Pharrell and two Team Gwen battles that won’t be fully aired.

In it, they show two members of Team Pharrell battling it out to the tune of “Riptide” by Vance Joy. Ultimately, Pharrell chooses pop-indie artist Madi Davis to stay on his team.

Additionally, we see a glimpse of two of Team Gwen’s battles. The first showed two of her artists singing one of her hit songs, “It’s My Life.” In the end, she decides to keep Kota Wade. The second battle is between two of her male contestants, which she assigned “Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd. From this battle, she ends up keeping pop artist Jeffrey Austin.

  1. Team Pharrell

Ivonne Acero vs. Siahna Im

“You Keep Me Hangin’ On” by The Supremes

The last battle of the night was between two of the youngest artists in the competition this season, Ivonne and Siahna. Ivonne returned this season after not getting any chairs to turn for her in season 8. However, by following the critique she received from the judges she was able to land a spot on Pharrell’s team this year. Meanwhile, 15-year-old Siahna is a self-classified “weirdo” who has a voice that sounds way beyond her years.

During the rehearsals, Pharrell and Missy try to get Ivonne to step out of her comfort zone and loosen up. At the same time, they advise Siahna to strengthen her vibrato.

Fortunately, the two young powerhouses brought it to the final performance of the night. Not only did they demonstrate killer vocals, but also both of them were able to embrace the song and feed off the crowd’s energy.

Although he was faced with a tough choice, Pharrell ultimately chooses Siahna. However, both Blake and Stefani swoop in and try to get Ivonne on their teams.  In a surprise twist, the young pop singer chooses to join Team Blake (which is currently packed with country artists).

And that was it for tonight’s battles. You can catch the next round of dueling performers on The Voice on Monday, Oct 19th.
