Drinking not Johnny Manziel’s only Problem

Drinking not Johnny Manziel’s only Problem 2015 nfl imagesWe know Johnny Manziel has a drinking problem at the very least. He didn’t spend several weeks in a rehab facility over the summer for no good reason. The kid needed help to get himself under control; else he would have spent his offseason relaxing instead of working the 12 step program and talking to counselors about his issues.

Alcohol use is not the biggest problem Manziel has, however. Not when it comes to playing professional football. Johnny Football has a huge privacy problem. And maybe, just maybe he has an IQ deficit.

I think that a guy with average intelligence would have enough smarts to at least stay away from public parties that could further wreck his image. Manziel does not seem to be smart enough to avoid situations like that. J-Football has been plastered all over the net after last Friday night’s adventure at an Austin, Texas nightclub that shows #2 partying like a wannabe A&M freshman rapper.

Many fans seem baffled that Manziel is getting in trouble for drinking legal alcohol. It’s not like he’s the only one overdoing it with the bottle is their argument.

The difference is that Manziel is a starting quarterback (or was), and he has been in rehab! I’m not familiar with the 12 step program, but I’d bet my last few dollars in my DraftKings account that binge drinking with a bottle of champagne is not a proper step to get your life together.

So with the latest embarrassing video, Johnny Football has lost the starting job in Cleveland. He had been named the starter for the rest of the year. Now he has squandered that opportunity and has dropped all the way to third string. A vote of no confidence from his team.

Browns head coach Mike Pettine said the following in a team statement.

“Josh McCown will be the starting quarterback on Monday night against the Ravens,” Pettine said in a statement released by the team. “I informed the quarterbacks of that decision after I sat down and spoke with Johnny, Flip (John DeFilippo) and Kevin (O’Connell) after practice today. Johnny will be the third quarterback. I’ve spoken to Ray (Farmer) and Jimmy (Haslam) to inform them of my decision, and they are in full support.

“Everyone in this organization wants what is best for Johnny just like we do for every player in our locker room. I’m especially disappointed in his actions and behavior because he has been working very hard. The improvements from last year to this year have been tremendous, but he still has to consistently demonstrate that he has gained a good understanding of what it takes to be successful at the quarterback position on this level. It goes well beyond the field. We are going to continue to support him in every way possible, but at this point, we’ve decided it’s best to go with Josh as the starter going forward.”

I’m confident that drinking is bad for Johnny Manziel at this time. But if we’re talking strictly about his football career, then it’s his inability to keep his partying ways private that’s jacking up his NFL future.

No video of this past Friday night, no benching. It’s all about perception. One thing to hear rumors about Manziel going on a bender, quite another to see him in action with a big bottle of booze surrounded by guys at varying levels of douchery. There’s headphones dude, let’s get a selfie guy, and in need of a haircut but I’ll mash it down with a cap fella. Then there’s Manziel, an alleged professional football player that could have been the face of an organization.

All Johnny Manziel had to do for the rest of 2015 was focus on staying off TMZ’s radar. With no chance of seeing the playoffs, that’s just 42 days of not acting like an idiot, or at least not getting caught on camera acting like one!

That’s not easy with everyone having to document each second of their lives with a damn smartphone, but it’s possible. Manziel could easily have a private party with a reasonable amount of people and have security take up all phones upon entry.

There’s a business idea there that may show up on Shark Tank. Private parties for celebrities with no video or photo evidence afterward, guaranteed. I’d like 5% of the business just for the seed idea Mr. Cuban.

In my opinion, it’s over for Manziel in Cleveland. He’s shown the Browns who he is for two years. He may be done in the League as well since he’s done little on the field to make other teams think he’s worthy of a shot in a different city.

Colin Kaepernick may be through, but he will get another shot outside of San Francisco, having taken his team to the Super Bowl.

Johnny Manziel isn’t the first QB to be a bust, nor the first NFL player to let the party scene get the best of him. He is just part of a new generation of imperfect athletes that need to better control what the public sees. Not an easy task in 2015.

Atlanta Falcons vs Colts Indepth NFL Recap

Atlanta Falcons vs colts Indepth Recap 2015 nfl imagesAtlanta Falcons In-depth Recap

Falcons 21   Colts 24

Atlanta felt good about things coming into the game against the Colts despite poor play the past few weeks. The bye week had given the Birds a chance to get healthy with Willie Moe and Leonard Hankerson returning to the lineup. The health meter went down faster than an old guy playing Mortal Combat with his grandchild after just seven minutes of play when Devonta Freeman left the game with a concussion.

Even without Freeman, who left the game with 43 yards on just three carries, Atlanta jumped on Indy with a long drive that ended with a touchdown throw from Ryan to Patrick Dimarco. Ryan made up for an earlier pick in the red zone with that TD pass to the seldom targeted fullback.

Tevin Coleman replaced Freeman and ended game with just 48 yards.

The Falcons went up 14-0 after another 80-yard drive powered by catches of 36 and 29 yards from Julio Jones. Ryan once again went to DiMarco for a one-yard touchdown.

Indianapolis wasn’t going away as Hasselbeck led his team on an 80-yard march spreading the ball around and even scrambling for part of the yardage. He found Ahmad Bradshaw in the end zone for a seven-yard score. 14-7 Falcons and the score stayed the same heading into the half.

Atlanta would receive the ball to start the second period. They made the possession count with an 80 drive that once again was helped by a big catch of 28 yards by Julio Jones. Near the goal line Atlanta benefitted from a penalty on Vontae Davis as he covered Leonard Hankerson. Two plays later Ryan again went to Hankerson and connected this time for a touchdown from the three-yard line. 21-7 Falcons.

After swapping punts, the Colts answered with another touchdown. This time, it was Bradshaw again on a TD catch from Hasselbeck. 21-14, Falcons again letting a lead evaporate.

After the teams traded turnovers, it was Indy’s special teams that made a huge play with Donte Moncrief downing the punt at the Falcons’ one-yard line. That set up the next play that would tie the game at 21 when Matt Ryan, lover of end zone picks on either end of the field, threw a one-yard pick six to D’Qwell Jackson.

Atlanta’s offense sputtered with back to back punts and then gave up a Colts’ field goal with just 52 seconds left in the game. Colts up 24-21.

Matt Ryan is very adept at running the two-minute drill, but 52 seconds was not enough in this game. Hankerson had a terrible drop as he proved to be unreliable again this week. Julio Jones had a big catch on the sideline with two defenders on him that was ultimately ruled incomplete even after a review. The guy took five total mini steps with the ball in full control but had it knocked away as he landed on the ground. It’s a catch to me, but that rule is biting a lot of teams this year.

The Falcons had a fourteen point lead at home that they simply could not hold onto or add to. They can’t blame the loss on a late desperation deep pass that ended up being ruled as a non-catch.

3 things:

  • Matt Ryan is scoring TDs but giving the ball up near end zones, his and the opposition’s. End zone picks create huge point swings on one side and set the opponent up with great field position on the other. Ryan has now lost to Jameis Winston and 80-year-old Hasselbeck, and Blaine Gabbert. Something is wrong with that picture, especially knowing that Ryan has Julio Jones!

  • The defense isn’t to blame. Sure they should hold a 14 point lead, but the offense just peters out at the end of games, not putting a foot on the opponent’s throats when they have them down.

  • This is loss number three in a row. The last win was forever ago over the two-win Titans in a close game. Point being, the Falcons, are not very good. Not good in any way. If Freeman is not back next week, it could be four losses in a row as they host Minnesota.

Julio watch:  Nine catches. 160 yards. Kept two drives moving. Had an incredible catch at the end but it ended up not being a catch at all.  No TDs on the day.

Tweets of the game:

Fair weather fans we may be in Atlanta, but what can you do?

Was a catch. Not crying, just saying. And the Colts deserved the win anyway.

Says it all about the past five weeks.

Matty Lite got booed and deserved it.

Serie A Week 13 Soccer Review

Serie A Week 13 Soccer Review 2015 mattia destro imagesIn a match that saw three penalty goals out of four, Roma old boy Mattia Destro came back to haunt them when he scored from the spot kick late in the second half to help Bologna snatch a point from the encounter on Saturday. Bologna are now out of the relegation zone and in 17th spot in the league table while Roma now sits fourth.

Paulo Dybala got to the end of a beautifully worked move from Paul Pogba to grab the only goal of the game for Juventus against AC Milan to help his side win all three points from the encounter at the Juventus Stadium on Saturday. The Old Lady have continued their steady rise up the league table after a torrid start to their league season and are now sixth in the table after registering what was their third successive win in the league. AC Milan, meanwhile, are winless in their last two games and are a solitary point behind Massimiliano Allegri’s men in seventh.

Napoli have continued their superlative displays under the stewardship of Maurizio Sarri and registered a 2-0 win over an obdurate Hellas Verona. Lorenzo Insigne and Gonzalo Higuain were on the scoresheet for the Neapolitans as they struck in the second half to help them climb to the second spot in the league table. Napoli look strong favourites to claim the title this term as Juventus falter, and it remains to be seen if they are able to continue their form for a major part of the season.

Cesare Bovo scored the only goal in the encounter between Torino and Atalanta to help the Turin outfit win all three points. Torino are now occupying ninth spot in the league with a record of five wins, as many defeats and three draws from their first 13 league games.

Roberto Inglese and Riccardo Meggiorini scored once each to help Chievo Verona to a 2-1 win over Carpi at the Alberto Braglia. The defeat sees Carpi sitting at the bottom of the table with a tally of six points, tied for points with Hellas Verona.

Nikola Kalinic grabbed a brace for Fiorentina to help them to a 2-2 draw against Empoli at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday. The visitors were 2-0 ahead going into the half time break but were pegged back by the strikes from Kalinic. The solitary point sees Paulo Sousa’s men sitting in third behind Inter Milan and Napoli.

Genoa registered a 2-1 win over Sassuolo at the Luigi Ferraris in a tense encounter and moved to 13th spot as a consequence. Sassuolo, on the other hand, are now fifth.

Lazio and Palermo played out a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico while Emmanuel Badu’s goal helped Udinese to a 1-0 win over Sampdoria.

Inter Milan thumped Frosinone 4-0 at the San Siro to move atop the Serie A standings. It was the biggest win of the season for Roberto Mancini’s men and it remains to be seen if they remain long-term challengers for the title.

Bundesliga Week 13 Soccer Review

Bundesliga Week 13 Soccer Review 2015 imagesBorussia Dortmund succumbed to their second league defeat of the season as their bogey team, Hamburger, defeated them 3-1 at the Nordbank Arena on Friday. Pierre-Michel Lasogga put the hosts ahead in the 19th minute when he converted from the spot kick. Lewis Holtby doubled their lead four minutes from half-time, and an own goal from Mats Hummels heaped further misery on the Black and Yellows. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a late consolation goal for the Rhine outfit, but a loss of three points has meant that they have ceded further ground in their quest to catch Bayern Munich and now trail the reigning German champions by a whopping eight points after the conclusion of the first 13 rounds of games.

Borussia Monchengladbach have continued their great form under the stewardship of Andre Schubert as they registered a 2-1 win over Hannover on Saturday at Borussia Park to occupy the fifth spot in the league standings with a tally of 22 points. They started the season on a miserable note and lost their first five league games that led to the resignation of then manager Lucien Favre. Schubert took charge on an interim basis and has since been given the job on a permanent deal.

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Javier Hernandez struck twice, and Hakan Calhanoglu added one goal of his own for the cause of Champions League hopefuls Bayer Leverkusen as they defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 on Saturday evening. The win moved Roger Schmidt’s side to the sixth spot in the league table while Frankfurt sits 12th.

Mainz and 1. FC Koln played out a scoreless draw while Wolfsburg gave Werder Bremen a 6-0 hammering at the Volkswagen Arena. Max Kruse grabbed a brace for the Wolves, and Vieirinha, Bas Dost as well as Josuha Guilavogui got in on the act the hosts. An own goal from Alejandro Galvez had started the game in a terrible way for the visitors as their night proved to be a long one.

In another high scoring fixture, Augsburg thrashed Stuttgart 4-0 at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadium. The win allowed Augsburg to leave the foot of the table and move to the 17th spot while Stuttgart are just a point better off than Augsburg and are 16th.

Bayern Munich were given a tough outing by Schalke at the Veltins-Arena but eventually came out 3-1 winners to stretch their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table to eight points over Borussia Dortmund. A Leon Groetzka own goal had put the visitors ahead, but Max Meyer brought the scores level in the 17th minute. The scores remained tied until the last 20 minutes of the game until Javi Martinez scored in the 69th minute and Thomas Muller sealed the three points with a strike in the stoppage time.

Hertha Berlin won 1-0 over Hoffenheim at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday. The defeat sees Hoffenheim rock-bottom as they attempt to stretch their stay in the German top flight. In a clash between newly-promoted sides, Ingolstadt defeated Darmstadt 3-1.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea Soccer Preview 2015

0

Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea soccer 2015 imagesTottenham Hotspur has been one of the hottest teams in the Premier League this season. They started their league campaign with a defeat at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford when Kyle Walker put one in his own net. However, they have recovered well since and remain unbeaten in the league since.

And not just their unbeaten run, the quality of football being played by Mauricio Pochettino’s charges has forced everyone to sit up and take notice. The Argentine has drilled his players into a relentless attacking force. The Lilywhites are a constantly pressing machine without the ball and make life hard for the opposition player in possession until he coughs the ball up.

Spurs’ summer signing Dele Alli has proved to be an inspired addition to the squad as he has fitted effortlessly into the side and has been creating chances for his team-mates as well as adding goals of his own for their cause.

The north Londoners are currently sitting fifth in the league table with a tally of 24 points from their first 13 games. They have won six times, drawn as many games and their only defeat came on the opening day of the league season.

Spurs had struggled against the bigger teams in the past and it was often cited as one of the reasons for their inability to finish in the top four. However, they look to have corrected that failing to a certain extent this term. They played out a 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium – and frankly speaking, they were the better side for the large stretches of the game. They were held to a scoreless draw by Liverpool, and in one of the big results of the season so far, they thrashed Manchester City 4-1 at White Hart Lane.

This weekend they will be up against fellow Londoners Chelsea, against whom they do not have a very good record. But the two teams go into the game on the back of contrasting fortunes. While the Lilywhites are in good form, Chelsea have struggled to get their title challenge going.

They are currently sitting a lowly 15th and are closer to the relegation zone than a top four finish. Nonetheless, Chelsea will head into the game on the back of two successive wins – their 1-0 win over Norwich City was followed by a 4-0 thrashing of Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League in the midweek.

Despite the win, Chelsea are not yet through to the round of 16 in the Champions League and their position in the Premier League table still remains precarious.

The last time the two sides met at White Hart Lane, Spurs’ attacker Harry Kane enjoyed a sizzling game as he grabbed a brace to help his side confine the Blues to a 5-3 thrashing. Although a similar result would be difficult to repeat, despite the contrasting form of the two team, but Tottenham Hotspur will surely think they can get the three points from their home encounter.

‘Creed’ Movie Review: Another ‘Rocky’ franchise success (2015)

creed movie review 2015 imagesIf ever there were a movie to get your blood pumping and that conjures up memories of one of the most beloved 80’s character, “Creed” it is. In fact, Creed is more than just a feel-good film with Michael B. Jordan (Adonis “Donnie” Creed) as the new face of the Rocky Franchise. It is a cinematographic masterpiece.

I have very few ill things to say about Creed. Not only did I get to attend the premiere with all the stars and some of Hollywood’s elite, I saw the film with real, die hard rocky fans. Viewing a film for the first time with people who know the backstory makes for one hell of an experience and Creed is exactly that- an experience. From the moment the film starts, with Donnie as a young child fighting in a boy’s detention center, it sets the tone of the movie. He is mad, hostile and lost, all the feelings young men have when they grow up without their fathers. His life is turned around when Mary Anne, Apollo’s widow played by the lovely Phylicia Rashad, takes him in and gives him the life he was meant to have being the son of Apollo Creed.

Donnie may be able to get away from his father’s name as he goes by his mother’s last name Johnson, but he can’t get away from his father’s blood. Although he works in corporate America, he engages in underground boxing matches. And it is the inciting incident of losing his car in an impromptu match at a boxing gym that sends him on his journey to Philadelphia to find the man who will eventually train him- Rocky Balboa. This is where the movie truly starts.

Throughout the film, we see Rocky and his reluctance to train Donnie, even after learning his is a Creed, turn into genuine love and care for the son of his best friend. Along with all the thrills you’d expect from a Rocky reboot, I want to talk about the writing because it is good.

Surprisingly good. A lot of times you run the risk of corny lines and gratuitous cliché’s, but those are few and far between in Creed, which allows you to focus on the movie and not on the horrible back and forth. Ryan Coogler and Aaron Covington putting in the small details like Donnie taking a picture of Rocky’s training instructions, uploading them to his cloud and Rocky looking up to the sky because he has no idea what he means by, “it’s up on the cloud” is perfect. And speaking of Rocky, he has never been more charming, more relatable and more Uncle Roc than he is in this movie. It feels like Sylvester Stallone is just being himself in the film, which translates very well.

Now, of course, I have to mention the things that weren’t so great and the only point of criticism I have for that is Donnie’s hatred for his father. It was not believable. From not wanting anyone to know he is Apollo Creed’s son to hitting a man at Bianca’s show for calling him “baby Creed,” his desire to distance himself from his father seemed force. From the view of someone watching the film, Apollo died before he was born so there is nothing he could have done do cause Donnie to hate him. But this is summed up and resolved at the end of the movie when he expresses his love for his dad, which shows his character arch.

Now I mentioned Bianca. Played by Tessa Thompson, she is the Philly chick Donnie meets and falls in love with in his apartment building. She is an interesting character too (somewhat more interesting than Donnie if I’m honest) because she is a singer and musician who is gradually losing her hearing. Their first interaction, in fact, is Donnie banging on her door in the middle of the night because her music is too loud. Their love story is a sweet one and goes along well with the story.

The big climax of the movie is the boxing scene where he fights Pretty Ricky Conlan from England. In what would probably be Conlan’s last fight before he goes to prison for illegal gun possession, he and Creed go at it, and it’s the end of the film that gives us some of the most memorable images from the movie.

I didn’t want to give away too much, and I so held back on spoilers. All you need to know is that this movie is great, and you have to see it, even if you aren’t a Rocky fan. I give it 4 ½ out of 5 stars.

‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ 803 Sweatbox Party Time

real housewives of atlanta 803 sweatbox party 2015 imagesThis week on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” the ‘build up’ is so real. It’s like they are holding out for the big drama and from the looks of the trailer for next week, that episode is when they give it to us.

Porsha and Phaedra meet for a little cleansing. And by cleansing I mean they get colonics. I don’t know who had the great idea to have them getting their poop sucked out of them while they discuss what happened at Porsha’s going away party for Duke Williams, but it was not a good one. In fact, it was disgusting. Porsha expressed how she felt about her business partners, and Kandi in particular, saying things about her man at the party. She confronts Kandi later in the episode after she does a celebrity run. Nothing to talk about there, they are still friends.

Speaking of Kandi, we see Todd and her in bed. She tells him about her conversation with Phaedra, and all he wants to know is if she is going to pay him the money she still owes. I feel you, Todd.

Now that those boring storylines are out of the way, the big stories of the night center around Kenya and the launch party for her new hair care line and Cynthia’s marriage. First up is Cynthia.

She and Leon, who is looking quite fine, meet at her house to interview a tutor for Noelle. Now that their daughter has decided to go “all in” with her singing and acting, they are homeschooling her, and the first order of business is to find someone who knows what the hell they are doing. The guy they meet with is very cute, as pointed out by Cynthia. He’s so cute that she feel he may be too good looking and serve as a distraction (for Noelle, not her of course). Leon calls her out, in front of the man and their daughter, that she is acting kind of thirsty. Got to love baby daddy’s right?

After the tutor leaves, they get real, and he asks Cynthia what’s going on. Leon mentions that people brought to his attention the video of Peter groping another woman. She tells him that things are tough right now, and she doesn’t know if she wants to stay in the marriage. Leon tells her that she is good at running away from situations and unlike other relationships, this one is different because she actually married the man. She doesn’t want to hear it but knows that it’s true. He tells her to fight for the marriage, and if it doesn’t work out, she knows that she gave it her all.

And that’s what she does. She and Peter, who is finally back in town, take some time, and they talk about their marriage, but the way Cynthia comes at Peter is harsh. He tells her how he feels and asks her at what point she stopped loving him. “I don’t know,” she tells him. You can really see the heartbreak in his eyes, and he sobs as he speaks to her. But Cynthia is emotionless and tells her husband that things have to change, or she wants a divorce. Peter, despite her ultimatums and lack of sympathy for their situation, says he is going to show her how much he loves her because he wants her and their marriage. All she can say to that is, “We’ll see.” I mean damn Cynthia. It is clear that you have checked out of the marriage already, why even try when you clearly don’t want to?

Now on to Kenya and her launch party. Her hair care line has been two years in the making, and it is finally to a place where she is ready to present it to the world. She uses the woman who helped with Cynthia’s sunglasses launch party for hers and tells her she wants it to be perfect and magical and a luxury experience.

She and Marlo, as they go through the venue telling her hired help what she wants, talks about what happened with Sheree at Cynthia’s event, and her friend tells her that she nor Sharee have any etiquette. Kenya “hears” her but also shows why she is the queen of shade. She says that she is willing to mend things with her soon-to-be-one-day neighbor as they got off on the wrong foot, all while suggesting that they should have a fundraiser for her so that she can move into her house. Wow, Kenya, just wow.

The day of her event is here and from the start, there are problems. There is no elevator, so people have to trek to the second or third floor to the venue and the major problem- It’s hot as hell. Kenya knew this could be an issue and specifically told the event planner and her friend Brandon to make sure the air is on, but their efforts are to no avail as even Kandi can’t take it and she leaves, blaming it on her pregnancy. Lucky.

Porsha and her friend, Shamea, throw nonstop shade at Kenya’s products saying that they smell like water, which is interesting because water doesn’t have a smell but whatever. Shamea is messy and comes for Kenya as soon as she walks into the room.

When Kenya arrives, she is so pissed about the heat that she doesn’t even greet anyone. She and her date walk right through the party out the door to the balcony. He urges her to go back in, but she doesn’t want to. Kenya, if you don’t get your ass back in your sweatbox party.

She finally goes in and addresses the heat issue over the mic as a way to ease the tension I guess. She joins the rest of the cast, including Kim Fields, who is there with her husband. As she makes her rounds with hugs and kisses Shamea’s ass is going to tell her, “I think they put out water instead of the product.” Bitch, who the fuck are you, like really? That was just too, unbelievably messy. Kenya shakes it off and then invites Sharee into the hall to have a talk. They address their behavior at Cynthia’s event, Kenya still throwing her shade, but they get past it and walk back into her party smiley, which makes everybody clap for joy.

The action was chill on this episode, but next week brings us some of the scandalous incidents we’ve heard about… ahem…kicks to the stomach. Very interested to see how that goes.

‘CSI Cyber’ 208 Python Recap

csi cyber 208 python 2015 images

On this week’s episode of “CSI: Cyber,” Agent Ryan got a frantic call from an Interpol Agent, Rupert Fleming. A man attacking him took the phone from him before he could speak to her. She called Interpol to investigate. Agent Rupert had been attacked and killed with a drill.

Russell and Agent Mundo investigated the crime scene. At FBI headquarters, Raven knew that Agent Fleming’s phone had been hacked into, but she didn’t know by who. Daniel scanned the Interpol network for clues in the case. He determined the hacker, Darko, connected Europe’s Interpol with America’s to control the drill that killed Agent Rupert.

The team went to a home Raven directed them to and found a hidden laptop computer. Daniel found emails sent from Darko to Rupert asking Rupert to meet him at a specified location. He said he knew Python‘s real name. Russell and Daniel got a partial serial number off of one of Python’s guns found at the scene of the crime.

Bernie aka Fresh was determined to be working with Darko, so Agent Mundo brought him in for questioning. Agent Banks, Agent Fleming’s partner, demanded to know what happened to Fleming.

It was revealed Darko’s real name was Teddie Hayes. Russell and Daniel searched for Python’s real name. When they found it, they sent the information to Agent Ryan. Based on that they found his social security number and credit report. Ryan determined he only existed on paper.

In Baltimore, Agent Mundo went to look for a  yellow backpack delivered to Darko. They found him and told him to take off his backpack. Gunshots were fired, and Darko was shot. Agent Ryan asked Teddy Python’s real name, but he died before he could. She argued that Teddy told her Python’s real name was on the laptop they had, and she ordered Daniel to find out the real name of the hacker. Raven discovered Python had sold guns to many people. Russell said their research wasn’t turning up any answers.

Daniel figured out to look for Python’s real name by taking the laptop apart. He and Nelson finally found his name: Robert Corto. This also allowed them to find his address and date of birth. They discovered he had the same address as 12 other people, referred to as shelf babies of Python’s. From the computer, they recovered Python’s digital journal. Agent Ryan told Nelson and Daniel to print out every page of it. In his journal, Agents Ryan and Banks found out that Python’s classmates had given him the nickname in order to make fun of him, so he wanted to shed the negative image. They found the name Rosetta Wilkerson in his journal. She lived at a Colorado address, and the team went to her house. When they got to the house, they asked her if she had a son living there. She said no but showed them the room that was her son’s; it was filled with computer equipment. She showed them a picture of her son Dante, on a milk carton after he had gone missing. Agent Ryan looked at Dante’s computer, looked into the webcam and told him to call her; which he did. Dante snapped and said that Agent Ryan had crossed a line.

Dante remotely deleted evidence from his computer, so Agent Ryan unplugged it. Interpol then disabled the network Dante had been using to cause trouble. Agent Ryan called Russell to her office to take fingerprints off a tablet that had belonged to Dante. Then Agent Ryan realized he had been in her office posing as a maintenance man by the name Matthew Flynn.

What’s Wrong with Matt Ryan?

What's Wrong with Matt Ryan 2015 nfl imagesWhat? You think I have the answer to what’s wrong with Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcon fan?

I don’t. I’m in search of clues myself. I want to know what happened to Matt Ryan in 2015.

Is he hurt and not talking about it? Doesn’t look that way.

Is Kyle Shanahan a moron? IDK, well…..probably.

Is Matt Ryan just in a bad slump, the worst of his career from the looks of it? Could be the guy’s human after all, no matter how composed he is in pressers and interviews.

Does Ryan just not have the weapons to rack up enough points to outlast opponents? We’ll get to that possibility.

Any of the choices above are plausible. And it’s likely that it’s a combination of all the above. If you take a look at Ryan’s stats, you don’t see a clear pattern of disaster, but throwing multiple interceptions in three games since week five is one number that sticks out like a sore thumb.

Even with the Falcons defense playing much better under Dan Quinn, they can’t be put in bad spots repeatedly and expect to hold off the opponent’s offense each time.

It’s hard to say Ryan is hurt. He looks fine. I’m not running beside him each morning on a treadmill so I can’t say for sure. In hi-def he looks the same physically as he did in the opener.

Kyle Shanahan is known for producing top notch running games. He’s not so adept at helping passers improve their game. See RGIII for reference. Clearly Shanahan needs to receive a great Christmas gift from Devonta Freeman as he has become a superstar under this offensive scheme. A lump of coal might be all Shanahan receives from the Ryan family if things continue to devolve, though.

Slumps are hard to define and harder to figure ways out of. It’s easy to say the Falcons’ 100 million dollar quarterback is slumping. But why? Trying to do too much? Trying to force the ball to Julio too often? Being forced to force the ball to Julio too much?

Weapons? Who does Matt Ryan have that he can go to when he needs a first down? Freeman, of course, has proved worthy of touches and targets on any down or situation. Julio is Julio and can score on any play. Who else is worthy of the quarterback’s trust?

Not Roddy White. No matter how much I love the guy and what he’s meant to Atlanta, he just isn’t the player he used to be. He was force fed the ball nine times against the Colts. That yielded four catches for 24 yards, not exactly moving the needle when it comes to striking fear in a defense.

Leonard Hankerson has more drops than a mic in a rap battle. He showed flashes early in the year with a couple of long catches, but since has only been taking up space in the Falcons receiving corp.

Julio Jones is the main weapon in the passing game and the go to guy for Matt Ryan. That’s obvious. But he can’t do it all downfield, however. Freeman is more of a threat to catch a screen and take it 50 yards after the catch. The main concern past ten yards for defenses is Jones, and that is pretty damn easy to scheme for each week. Jones will rack up catches, but where the Falcons are lacking is in the scoring department.

The defense isn’t being rewarded for holding opposing offenses to just 21 points a game, which tops 22 other NFL defenses.

If that’s Matty Ice’s problem, not enough weapons, then I don’t see things improving heading into week 12. There’s no help coming. The Falcons offense is set.

And by the way, Cam Newton is doing pretty well with a crew of scabs catching his passes.

Tom Brady has always made more than due with some receivers that don’t even belong in the NFL.

And until recently, Aaron Rodgers had his Packers rolling even though his best receiver went down before game one.

Considering those examples, it’s clear that there will be no sympathy for Matt Ryan from Falcon fan. He’s fortunate to have one of the top two receivers in the League on his team. Other QBs would kill to have Julio lineup with their offense. As a bonus, Devonta Freeman has taken pressure off the passing game.

No matter what the real reason for Matt Ryan’s struggles this year, fans only care about the next six weeks. If Ryan handles his business and plays like he is handsomely paid to play by Mr. Blank, we will all forget the past few weeks.

If Ryan can’t perform at a high level when his O-line is performing adequately, his defense is steady, and his run game is scoring lots of points while controlling the game flow, I have to wonder if he will ever be worth his 100 million dollar deal.

I hope he can prove his worth, starting next week against the Vikings. Searching for a replacement franchise QB is a lot harder than getting the current one back on track.

College Football Week 12 Winners & Losers

college football week 12 winners losers vernon adams 2015 imagesWinners & Losers From College Football’s Week 12

Another step closer to the College Football Playoff and two more teams fall from the ranks of the unbeaten. In the de facto Big 12 championship picture, Oklahoma moved a step closer to a conference title and a possible CFP berth with a win over a TCU team that played without two of its stars. Oklahoma State took a step backward losing its first game of the season at home to Baylor. In the American Athletic Conference, Houston dropped a 20-17 decision to 5-6 UConn. The loss ruined a perfect season for the Cougars. Here’s a look at the winners and losers from Week 12 of the college football season.

WINNERS

North Carolina versus Virginia Tech was the last hurrah for one of college football’s greats – Frank Beamer. The Hokies head coach took the field in Blacksburg for the final time. The only problem for Beamer was that his Hokies had to face a 9-1 North Carolina team that had yet to lose in ACC play. Virginia Tech battled, scoring twice in the game’s final three minutes to tie the game at 24-24. In the end, the Tar Heels would move to 10-1 and clinch the ACC Coastal Division for the first time in school history. Head coach Larry Fedora’s team will meet Clemson in the conference championship on Dec. 5.

The UConn defense held a potent Houston offense to just 318 total yards and 17 points in a 20-17 win over the Cougars that makes the Huskies bowl eligible. Houston falls to 10-1 and now must beat Navy (9-1) to win the American Athletic Association West Division. UConn will finish the season against 9-2 Temple in a game that could impact who wins the AAC East.

A week ago, Temple was outplayed in a 44-23 loss to South Florida, a game that could cost the Owls the AAC East title. Head coach Matt Rhule and company rebounded though for an easy 31-12 win over 21st-ranked Memphis, which dropped its third straight game. Temple will take on UConn next week, and a win gives them a berth in the conference championship game.

There is no other offense in the country right now that is hotter than Oregon. The Ducks rolled up 578 total yards as they dismantled USC, 48-28. Quarterback Vernon Adams completed 20-of-25 passes for 407 yards and six touchdowns, the most ever in a single game against the Trojans. The win moves Oregon to 8-3 as they head into the Civil War, the annual rivalry game with Oregon State. The Ducks will play at home and can finish the season with six straight wins and improve their bowl status.

LOSERS

The Big 12 watched two battles – TCU-Oklahoma and Baylor-Oklahoma State – last night that may result in the league getting shut out of the upcoming College Football Playoff. Oklahoma State lost at home to Baylor, 45-35, to drop to 10-1 overall. Even with a win over Oklahoma, a 30-29 winner over TCU, the Cowboys are unlikely to be a CFP selection. Speaking of the CFP and the Sooners, Oklahoma moved to 10-1 when TCU’s two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter failed. The Horned Frogs played admirably without QB Trevone Boykin or WR Josh Doctson. The winner of next weekend’s Bedlam Rivalry – Oklahoma versus Oklahoma State – could win the Big 12 conference. A one-loss Oklahoma might have a shot as would a one-loss Baylor. Other than that, the conference could get shut out as it did a year ago.

What has happened to LSU and Memphis? Both teams lost their third straight games of the season after starting unbeaten. In fact, Memphis had won 15 games in a row dating back to last season before its loss to Navy three weeks ago. LSU was 7-0 before a 30-16 loss to then No. 4 Alabama. Head coach Les Miles squad hasn’t scored more than 17 points in a game since and Heisman Trophy candidate RB Leonard Fournette has averaged just 77 yards per game in the three losses. The Memphis offense, which was averaging nearly 43 points per game, has averaged just 22 the past three weeks. Memphis can finish the regular season with nine wins for the second straight year if it can beat SMU in its season finale. LSU takes on a very good Texas A&M (8-3) team in its finale.

Just a few weeks ago, Utah was being mentioned as a possible College Football Playoff contender. That dream ended with the Utes loss to USC in Week 7. Now, the Pac-12 title is another goal gone by. Minus leading rusher Devontae Booker, who is done for the season including a bowl game should Utah be invited, the Utes were lackluster in a 17-9 loss to UCLA. After consecutive losses, Utah still has a shot at a nine-win season with a win over Colorado next week.

In his 10 previous seasons, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier had never had a losing season with the Gamecocks. That is, until this year. The losing season was wrapped up a few weeks ago, but the program may have reached a new all-time low with its 23-22 loss to FCS opponent The Citadel on Saturday. Tyler Renew ran for 174 yards and scored the winning touchdown on a 56-yard run with just over six minutes remaining for the winners. Cam Jackson also ran for over 100 yards as The Citadel’s option offense cranked out 350 yards rushing. The Gamecocks can make up for the most of the disastrous season and send the Ole Ball Coach out with a bang with a win over in-state rival and top-ranked Clemson next weekend.

‘The Voice’ 910 Top 11 Performance Breakdowns

the voice 910 top 11 breakdown 2015 imagesTonight, the competition continued on NBC’s The Voice. All of the Top 11 contestants performed for the coaches and audience, as they try to secure a spot in the Top 10. In addition, the show also had a family theme going on to complement the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. Therefore, the contestants were joined by some of their loved ones during their performance rehearsals. Coaches, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams all had plenty to say, as usual.

So here’s a recap of tonight’s The Voice performances:

Shelby Brown

Team Adam

“You and I” by Lady Gaga

17-year-old Shelby is the only country star in the competition that is not on Team Blake. Her father joins her, as she takes on a more edgy pop song. However, the song still has some country twangs in it, which plays right into Shelby’s wheelhouse.

She kicks off the night with a really strong performance. In the beginning, she did struggle a bit, as she seemed to be trying to force gritty vocals wherever she could in the song. However, half way through she hit her stride and gave a great performance till the end.

Blake and Pharrell both agree that this was her best performance yet, which I completely agree. This is fortunate as from previous episodes we know even one bad night can send a worthy contestant packing. In addition, Gwen calls her out for her overusing her “growl,” so hopefully that puts an end to it.

Evan McKeel

Team Pharrell

“Smile” by Nat King Cole

Evan, who is joined by his mother, decides to take on a slow-paced, bluesy song this week. Evan explains that he wants to go back to his performing roots, where all he had was his guitar.

His performance starts with just his voice overpowering a very light instrumental in the background. Unfortunately, I think he cheated himself out of a chance to win over viewers. His vocals were fine, but the overall performance was incredibly boring, and even the visuals subtly put me to sleep.

Barrett Baber

Team Blake

“Delta Dawn” by Tanya Tucker

Barrett, who is joined by his wife in rehearsals, decides to take a classic country song and put a rocker spin on it. Barrett hopes that he is able to show his inner artistry through this performance and his ability to think outside of the box.

He brings a newfound confidence to the stage this week and is very dynamic in his vocals. However, as a non-country fan, I didn’t find myself to be interested in his performance. Nonetheless, I have a feeling he will be around for another week.

Korin Bukowski

Team Gwen

“Only Hope” by Mandy Moore

Korin decides to throw it back with Mandy Moore. In rehearsals Korin, who is joined by her father, reveals that she used to record herself singing Gwen’s hit “I’m just a girl.”

While I am not necessarily a fan of the song choice, I will admit she was able to thoroughly showcase her vocal clarity. Through the haunting rendition, she let her slight quirkiness shine through. There were even a few moments where she almost sounded Broadway with the strength she put behind every note, which I am not sure whether that is a good thing or bad.

Side note, Korin is looking more and more like her pop star coach Gwen Stefani, as she opted to go without glasses this week.

Amy Vachal

Team Adam

“Blank Space” by Taylor Swift

Her father, who fully resembles Walter White from Breaking Bad, tags along with Amy during her rehearsals. Amy explains that Adam already has a plan in motion for her this week, as he assigns her “Blank Space.”

Just like she did with “Hotline Bling,” Amy puts her own folky twist on the hit pop song. I love watching performances where the singers transform popular songs. However, it is sometimes a gamble since the songs are so well known.

Her performance is a mix of folk and old school pop. Overall, I really liked Amy’s performance. However, I think she needs to push the envelope a bit more when it comes to taking vocal risks.

Zach Seabaugh

Team Blake

“Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not” by Thompson Swuare

Zach brings his mom with him to rehearsals. Awkwardly enough, Blake asks his mom about “the dancing he was doing” (i.e. the pelvic thrusts) last week. Blushing, she responds that she didn’t realize her son could do that, and she was uncomfortable. Zach doesn’t give her much of a break as she sits in and listens to him belting out suggestive lyrics like “are we gonna do this or not?”

Unfortunately, I thought Zach’s vocals were relatively weak in comparison to previous weeks (which weren’t too strong to begin with). However, he does have superstar goods working in his favor and is undoubtedly milking this factor for all that it’s worth.

Madi Davis

Team Pharrell

“Love is Blindness” by U2

Madi brings in her mom to rehearsals with her coach, Pharrell. This week Madi decides to slow it down, as she accompanies her vocals on the piano. During rehearsals, Madi receives the ultimate compliment, as her coach notes some similarities between her vocals and Adele’s.

While the song starts off a bit slow and mostly in her lower register, Madi kicks it up and ends it off with some incredible moments. Rightfully so, all of the coaches are in shock with how amazing her performance was. The camera even cuts away to her dad, who is lovingly in tears.

Blake tells Madi that he thinks she had the performance of the night, which I agree. I think she is my favorite at this point in the competition.

Braiden Sunshine

Team Gwen

“True” by Spandau Ballet

Braiden and his dad join Gwen in the rehearsal room, as Braiden prepares for this week’s performance. Gwen tells Braiden’s dad that it is “trippy” to be coaching Braiden, as he is just a few years older than her eldest son.

Gwen assigned Braiden “True,” in hopes that he will once again deliver a performance like he did when he sang Michael Buble a few weeks back. However, Braiden isn’t too familiar with “True” and is eager to study and learn the song inside and out.

Unfortunately, the song was a bad choice to begin with, and Braiden’s vocals didn’t bring anything that could revive it. He hit one really long note towards the end, which got him a few cheers, but I think the rest of his performance lost the viewers’ attention – at least it did for me.

Jordan Smith

Team Adam

“Who You Are” by Jessie J

Jordan, who is arguably the strongest vocalist left, takes on “Who You Are.” Both him and his coach, Adam, feel that he could evoke a strong connection to the lyrics and also showcase his powerhouse vocals.

Not surprisingly, Jordan has a really good performance. He has numerous memorable moments and makes them all seem so effortless. He continues to be one of the front-runners in the competition, but will have to bring some innovation to his future performances if he wants to stay in it for the long haul.

After his performance, Jordan couldn’t help himself but blurt a short inspirational pep talk about being who you are. Of course, the coaches just eat it up and praise him for his spirit and outlook.

Emily Ann Roberts

Team Blake

“Why Not Me” by The Judds

Blake decides to get Emily to take a bluegrass approach to her song for the week. Emily is ecstatic as Blake customizes the production of the song to fit her vocals perfectly.

This week, Emily reminded me a lot of Carrie Underwood during her American Idol days. Whether it be through winning this show or not, I think Emily has a big future in country music. She has a strong voice but also has some unique qualities that actually make her a memorable artist. Her performance was really strong and earned her a hug from Blake, who ran up onto the stage.

Jeffrey Austin

Team Gwen

“Dancing on My Own” by Robyn

The last performance of the night was from Jeffrey Austin, who was able to crack the Top 10 list on ITunes last week. With his mom and Gwen in rehearsals, Jeffrey exclaims, “as a gay man, being able to sing Robyn on national television? [It’s a] dream come true.”

Jeffrey decides to sing the Robyn hit, as he wants to bring his own qualities to a pop-dance song. Gwen gives him a few tips when it comes to his stage presence.

After last week, I was looking forward to Jeffrey’s performance, and I was not disappointed (for the most part). There were a few parts of his performance where it seemed like he was singing a bit flat, but overall it was thoroughly entertaining and actually memorable. He showed a bit of his falsetto towards the end, but I hope he showcases this portion of his vocals more in his future performances.

And that’s it for this week’s performances. You can catch the live eliminations tomorrow night, as the Top 11 become the Top 10. The Voice is back on tomorrow, November 24 at 8 pm on NBC.
