LOVE & HIP HOP ATLANTA 406: Airing It Out

love hip hop atlanta season 4 2015If you, like me, were wondering when Love and Hip Hop Atlanta would bring the REAL drama, wonder no more because it was definitely on and popping this week in the ATL.

It opened up with Momma Dee and her family having their get together and it was “something” to say the least. Dinner started off alright but they didn’t waste any time and got right into the meet of what the get together was all about. they got Momma Dee asks Ernest mom how she felt about her son going to jail and she breaks down crying because she just doesn’t get why Dee sent her.

Jasmine jumps into it and shows her distaste for her ex step dad. “You are an opportunist.” Momma Dee is ready to get all up in her ass and of course Scrappy jumped in to bring a balance and says in the end, it’s all about who the person wants. True.

Then there is Jessica and Pre Madonna. Jessica Diamond and Dawn visits the waist trainer diva at her shop and Diamond goes in on how Mimi “fucked up” the meeting with in the last episode. Of course Dawn doesn’t have anything good to say about her she wants to manage Diamond. They have everything bad to say about Stevie J’s baby momma and because these are some messy ass women, Pre Madonna tells them how Joseline had a party, didn’t invite Jessica and that Nikko’s wife was there.  Why?

We see Stevie J and he is doing great as he’s released from rehab. Let me interject here too that I had no idea how sexy Steebie is. I mean don’t get me wrong, I still think that he is a dog, but yoooooo, he is fine. I saw him in a whole new light at Yandy’s wedding in that tux and this episode with him talking about changing his life and needing to be around people who are prayed up and can help him, I want the “Good Guy” to win.

He gets out and goes straight to see his wife. There’s hugs and kisses but he does drop the bomb on her about having to go to court in New York. She doesn’t ike what she hears but doesn’t give him any trouble.

love hip hop atlanta airing it out 406Nikko and Margeaux meet at a gym for the first time since she threw him out of her apartment. She tells him that she doesn’t really have time to deal with the shit and that she feels like he is going to make a fool out of her. He asks her for room to fix some things. She wants to get out and make a name for herself so he invites her to go out with him to a party that he was invited to (um… spoiler alert, Mimi will be there).

Next up is the slim master Kirk. He visits Ashlee Nicole while she is rehearsing. He tells her about their promotional tour coming up and that he is taking time away from his family to do it so she has to bring the noise. This bitch just lays it on thick. She asks him if Rasheeda knows and he tells her to let him deal with stuff, also mentioning that she should not have said anything about the office. This chick pretty much calls Rasheeda old, washed up and says that she needs to be sitting at home, “being old” because Kirk is going to be in good hands. Bitch, if you don’t sit your mediocre ass down. Light skin may be in, but boo you ain’t the shit.

Later, Kirk and Rasheeda talk about the tour in their yard as he prepares to leave while Ashlee is in the car and this chick, while they are arguing, tells him to “come on.” She further says, “I like ya’ll ranch… when the album drops I’m going to buy ya’ll some grass.” You think she would get the hint by the look on Rasheeda’s face but she keeps talking. This bitch tells her she’s too old to have this nonsense going on in her own drive way. Kirk just stands there letting Ashlee Nicole talk to his wife all kinds of way. Rasheeda is about to roll up on her, but Kirk holds her back. She tells him to go ahead and get in the car with the bitch (she has a plan). And get this, he gets in the car and says to her, “That’s not a good way to start the tour. ”Nigga… how about “watch yourself when you’re talking to my wife.”

She gets back at him by taking his shit and selling it. I mean she is selling his watches, his shoes, his clothes and more. Her momma and Erica come and they help her because they have her back 100 percent.

The episode ends with the meeting of Diamond and Margeaux. Pre Madonna’s event for her Waist Gang Society almost goes up in flames when Nikko introduces his wife to his mistress (great idea Nikko). I really feel bad for Margeaux here because this whole situation really isn’t fair for her.

We have to wait until next week to see what happened but it looks like it promises to be explosive.

ABOUT LOVE & HIP HOP ATLANTA

Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta follows the lives of Atlanta’s hip-hop elite as they take on the trials and tribulations of juggling both their professional and personal lives…which often intersect and unravel for the whole world to see! After 3 seasons of ups and downs in both personal and professional pursuits, the cast of Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta have either learned from the ATL game of mixing business and pleasure, or are about to have the same game turned on them! With artists rising and falling, and families growing or being torn apart, the cast members are about to have their lives changed in ways they never imagined…for better or worse! Nothing is off limits as they explore the good, the bad, and sometimes even the naughty side of love, passion, fame, and hip-hop!

ATL’s hip-hop scene is ever evolving, and this season our cast is looking to continue to be on the cutting edge of what’s hot in this music mecca. The Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta ladies have evolved from aspirational artists and businesswomen into savvy entrepreneurs, mothers, wives, and lovers who still struggle to deal with all of the challenges their fast-paced lives throw at them. After seasons full of infidelity/deceit towards their female counterparts, the men of ATL are seriously about to learn what goes around DEFINITELY comes right back around! The substance abuse, infidelity, and legal issues affecting the male cast will no longer just be blog fodder; they will learn that karma is a “biznayee!”

Stevie J’s “Life Partner Gang” is back in full-force! After Mimi’s tumultuous breakup with Nikko, she is looking for the professional and personal redemption she needs post-sex tape. Mimi is concentrating on her and her daughter’s future, and is ready to profit from her autobiography Let’s Have Some Wine. However, Stevie’s support is not guaranteed, especially when he has to face the legal ramifications in his own life story!

Meanwhile, after the events that occurred in New York (at the Season 3 reunion), Joseline has taken a break from Atlanta for self-reflection. When Joseline returns to ATL, she may have to support Stevie through his personal/professional issues as Stevie plans to build his musical comeback, and leave his rockstar lifestyle behind to avoid jail time!

Just when Mimi thought she gotten rid of her ex-lover Nikko for good, he’s found a way to keep a foothold in her life by reminding her he’s attached to her upcoming book deal – demanding his 25% stake. Since his separation from Mimi, Nikko has reunited with his heretofore secret of a wife, Margeaux, who is making her debut this season. Margeaux is still trying to learn how to forgive her estranged husband for his involvement in the sex tape with Mimi and she has moved down to Atlanta to see if their marriage is worth salvaging. However, Margeaux is none-too-pleased to know Nikko is still dealing with Mimi – even if it’s not personal, but all business this time.

Scrappy returns this season seemingly comfortably settled in with girlfriend Bambi, and out of the dog house! This on-again, off-again, homie/lover/friend pair are looking to see if they can make it past the “Friendship, Promise, Love” ring stage of their relationship to something more lasting. Unlike Bambi, Erica Dixon is feuding with Scrappy over support of their daughter. Erica feels its time to hold Scrappy accountable, and goes after him with a vengeance! However, Scrappy has his own side of the story, protesting he’s not only financially responsible for his daughter, but he’s a great father and is tired of being made to look like a deadbeat dad. Aside from being the best father he can be, Scrappy is also fighting to prove himself as an artist as he looks to regain his status as a force on the Atlanta music scene. Ironically, Scrappy is feeling pressure from an unexpected source; his own mother, Momma Dee, who had her own surprise hit with her song debut, “I Deserve”.

Notorious for meddling in her son’s affairs, Momma Dee may be too wrapped up in her own love-life having reunited with her ex-husband, Ernest, who has spent the last seven years in prison. However, Momma Dee’s tumultuous and traumatic past with Ernest may be too much for Scrappy and his sister Jasmine to want to re-visit.

Rasheeda and Kirk’s personal life seems to be back on the right track until new secrets in come to the surface. Rasheeda is adamant on opening up her ImBossy/Poiz storefront in Atlanta and will no longer take Kirk’s refusal! However, with secret properties and a sexy new female artist named Ashley Nicole, Kirk may get tired of Rasheeda’s constant push back and go back to his old “I do me” type ways!

Singer/entrepreneur Karlie Redd is on the top of the world right now, re-fashioning herself as a triple threat, actress, businesswoman, and recording artist – she has a hit single (“Heartbreakers”), a blockbuster movie (Top Five), and is planning on opening a store for her cosmetic and lingerie lines. In the spirit of onwards and upwards, Karlie Redd is over her past high profile relationship with rapper Yung Joc, and is proudly “married to her checks” at the moment! Messy Karlie is about her business and is not afraid to burn any bridge that doesn’t lead to her success.

After a year of living in Atlanta, a very pregnant Kalenna is ready to pop out both her new album AND her baby in the next few months! However, Kalenna is plagued with anxiety about her music and baby coming out into the world, especially when her and her husband Tony Vick are in a financial crisis. Kalenna is struggling to finish her ‘Black Orchid’ album, and wants her “husband-ger” Tony to step it up to help her career! However, when Tony decides to invest their life savings in a club, and put Kalenna’s career on the back burner, Kalenna may be forced to choose between her marriage and her career.

Veteran rapper Yung Joc has learned the hard way about the ups and downs of hip-hop, and this year, the pendulum continues to swing for this ATL native and hip-hop scene fixture! Yung Joc’s arrangement with mother of his 1-year old twins Sina, and his current girlfriend, Khadiyah, is a disaster in the making! With a career to revive along with his brood of children, their mothers, and Khadiyah to provide for and keep satisfied, Joc has his plate extra full.

Also, with the additions of fashion entrepreneur PreMadonna (the owner of the world famous “Waist Gang Society” waist trainers), Joseline’s former stripper friend Jessica “Dimepiece”, and hip-hop star Tiffany Foxx, the veteran cast may be given a run for their money by the new girls in town! Jessica Dimepiece & Tiffany Foxx share a lot in common – both moved to Atlanta for a new beginning, both are rap artists, and both are determined to be on top. As Mimi attempts to represent both women on MF Management, Mimi will get caught in a rivalry between these two fierce and opinionated artists!

Love & Hip Hop: Yandy & Mendeecees Wedding

love & hip hop new york lots of regrets recap 2015It read like a fairytale wedding, well more like a scripted, Hollywood who gives a shit wedding. If you can’t tell, I am so over Yandy’s Love and Hip Hop nuptials. It was a spectacle and obvious that VH1 was more than likely the financers behind it.

It started off with all the washed up, famous because I’m ratched, reality TV stars showing up, red carpet style, to enjoy a pre wedding reception. Big Tigger was one of the correspondents (?) and went around speaking with different people about their expectations for the wedding. Stevie J was there along with Nina Parker as they brought everything to us live.

There were a lot of things happening in the background because as we all know, things don’t always go as planned. In the beginning, Yandy spoke to Nina and they asked her how everything was going she was so bubbly and laughing. It was cute.

love and hip yandy mendeecees wedding 2015Despite all the happiness that was going around, things just felt so inauthentic. With each passing scene, that told us in the corner of the screen how much each thing cost. The ring was $30,000, the wedding dress $25,000, $90,000 and I am thinking to myself, you have go to be kidding me. Mendecees actually hit the nail on the head if you ask me when he said that it seemed like Yandy was more exciting about the wedding than the marriage. Now, I am not going to take away from the fun and excitement that goes along with getting married, but come on Yandy, do you really have it like that to spend almost $100,000 on some damn flowers? Thus is why my conclusion is that VH1 and Mona Scott Young (who was in the wedding by the way) had to chip in some kind dough to pull this thing off.

To be honest, there wasn’t much of anything to really talk about before the actual ceremony started. They followed the couple as they went to pick up the rings, the clothes and other necessities. They interviewed them about how they felt about each other. We got to see how far they have come from the beginning when it seemed rocky, to when he got out of jail to the most recent season. And that was pretty much that. Oh, they also went behind the scenes to see what the bride and groom were doing while getting ready, etc. There was even a ticker in the upper left hand corner to count down to the big walk down the aisle.

The real excitement, if you want to call it that, happened when it was time for everything to come together. People took their seats which let me interject here, for Tara to be so over Peter Gunz, they not only arrived together but sat together looking quiet chummy i might add. Everyone took their places and the show was ready to begin (I mean that is really what it was, a show).

Here is where it just got too reality TV for me. As the mother of the groom/ and bride started walking down the aisle, it was sweet and nice. But then the bridesmaids made their way and, excuse me if this is something that happens at famous folks wedding, each one was announced as they came down the aisle. I couldn’t really hear what was going on at first because it was kind of faint, but around bridesmaid number five (there were several) I was like “are they announcing them as they walk down the aisle). To add to the foolishness, the people in the audiences were cheering for them. It all just felt fake, and really took away from the moment that was supposed to be for the couple. I will say this though, the bridesmaids dresses were jamming. Like, they were elegant, sexy, trendy… they were truly everything.

Before I go any further, let me tell you about K. Michelle. Yes she was there and yes she performed. She sang Leela James “Fall For You” and it was horrible. She didn’t sound right, she over sang it, her voice was shaky, and it was just an overall bad decision. I guess because she is a part of the Love and Hip family they got her to do it, but they would have been better off letting the damn track play. And that is no lie.

The time came for Yandy to make her way down the aisle and it was truly a sweet moment. Her dad, who had his leg amputated, walked her down on crutches. He gave her away at the altar and she and her man exchanged vows.

There wasn’t anything super different or special about the wedding (I mean outside of the fact that they got married special) and it just adds to the absurdity of the show in the first place. I really think that Yandy and Mendeecees were at the whims of the show.

Aside from the obvious LHH branding throughout the whole thing, the wedding itself wasn’t a mess. It was classy, elegant and overall look beautiful. It was the way that it was done by the show that made it absurd.

Well, “Theys married naw.” Congrats to them!

LOVE & HIP HOP ATLANTA 405: Rumor Has It

love hip hop atlanta season 4 2015Everything really heats up this week on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, and we finally see some REAL drama in true LHHATL fashion.

The show opens up with Joseline and Margeaux (Nikko’s wife) meeting because as Mrs. Stevie J put it, “your enemy’s enemies may become your best friend.” They sit down to have a conversation about “the maid” as Joseline asks her how she feels about the sex tape. Margeaux drops the bomb on her about Mimi being the “mastermind” behind the whole thing. Of course Joseline takes it all in because she “knows how thirsty she is.” And as she says ,”She (Mimi) is a dirty bitch.”

Speaking of Mimi, she has a meeting with Tiffany Fox to apologize to her about Stevie’s behavior at her show. Now for the record, I don’t get why Mimi is trying to beg to get back into her good graces because Stevie J is a legend in the music industry in his own right. But anyway, Mimi asks for one more chance to prove that she is the one to manger her.

Momma Dee and her new man, Ernest, have a very strange and interesting relationship. They have a romantic dinner at a “chicken wing place.” They talk about their past and how they each did each other wrong. She tells him about Erica wanting to take Scrappy to court. He tells her that he understands what’s going on with Scrappy but they have their own shit going on.

Now here, he makes a very nice and loving gesture to her. He got her a ring, put it in her drink on a cherry, which is super sweet. This bitch rejects it, talking about she’s a queen and she can’t accept that. He needs to come better. Of course he was openly hurt and says, “I’m a simple man.” She totally tears him down and is totally wrong. If this man is willing to take your old, non singing, word slurring ass, you better get off your unmerited high horse and… but I digress.

She later tells Scrappy about being back with Ernest and while he can’t really believe it, he says that Jasmine, his little sister, is who she has to deal with. Momma’s Dee tells him that her solution is a big dinner with both of her kids, Ernest and his momma. Mmmm hmmm, that’s a plan alright.

Before the big dinner, he tries to deescalate the situation by meeting with his sister to see where she is and to let her know what to expect.

Later, Joseline and Karlie meet at a “paper store” to look at wedding invitations.  Karlie is thrilled and excited to hear Joseline and Stevie are going to have a big ceremony. Of course, she brings up the Mimi revelation that she received from Margeaux but doesn’t “spill the tea” just yet. Joseline further tells her that she is going to throw herself a party.

Karlie tells her about Jessica Dime Piece and mentions that they used to dance together. Joseline sets the record straight about their friendship and according to her they were never really that cool. She makes a good point that when you become “famous” people always try to make your interaction more than what it was. On that, she makes a very good point.

Rasheeda shows up to the house that Kirk is building and she goes all the way off. She questions him about the $32,000 he spent in one day and asks him how much over he is with the house. He tells her the amount ($100,000 something) and that just adds insult to injury as she brings up how much of that could have gone to her shop which he says she has to wait on. She tells him she is going to freeze that account and walks away.

Jessica Dime Piece has a meeting with Mimi (this is just an episode of meetings) as she is wants her to sign with her. Then she brings up the fact that she is working with Tiffany Fox. For whatever reason, she doesn’t want to work with her (guess she heard some stuff) and says that Mimi is not going to have time to work with anyone else but her because “she is a full time job.” Ugh… all these wack chicks demanding shit when they haven’t even proved themselves… and a pole does not count.

Stevie gets a visit from Faith Evans who really encourages him. He expresses how ready he is to get back into the studio and she says that she wants him on her new project when he gets out.

love hip hop atlanta rumor has it 405 2015Joseline’s party is full of sexy salsa dancing and more. We are also introduced to PreMadonna who is fly…  but something else. She is the queen of the waist shaper and is all about her money. A knock on the door reveals it’s Margeaux and it is all for Karlie. Margeaux lets them in on what happened with her and Nikko and Joseline cannot take it any more. She tells them that Mimi is something to the effect of a low down dirty bitch. And Karlie, just to get it straight clarifies that Mimi was behind the sex tape. Yes, yes Miss Redd, that’s what Mrs. Nikko is saying.

The show ends with an altercation with Jessica Dime and Tiffany Fox. Mimi sets the meeting up with Jazze Pha, a respected producer. Everything is cool and Jazze and Jessica chop it up. However, when Tiffany comes in Jessica Dime is like “This is a joint meeting?” She goes in on Mimi sayin, “I told you you weren’t going to have time to work with anyone else” etc, etc.

Jessica is totally out of line and Tiffany Fox walks out but not before telling Mimi she can forget managing her. Then this bitch (Jessica) gets into an argument with Jazze Pha. After all of that, he tells her that he doesn’t want to hear her shit and that she needs to leave because she is disrespectful. Damn right Jazze. Mimi just sits there dumbfounded.

It was a good one and next week looks to be even better.

LOVE & HIP HOP ATLANTA 404: Cuffed Up

love hip hop atlanta season 4 2015This week on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, we open up with Stevie and Joseline and let me just say, her hair is not the business. You would think that with all the money and how big the damn show is, they would have a better hairdresser.

This chick shows up at Stevie J’s peaceful and restful rehab with all kinds of mess, calling Mimi a bitch and telling him that she can’t try to be nice anymore. He tells her to calm down and be nice and she’s like, “I was being nice.” He tells her that he needs her help because he’s staying away from alcohol for a year and he asks her if she can too as well as give up smoking. She, in a word, says no, “his rehab ain’t got nothing to do with me.”

Stevie is really trying it seems and later we see him in a church praying. He wants to share the peace that he has found with the women in his life so he invites Mimi to visit with him. Of course he brings up her and Joseline’s meeting. She tells him what happened. He tries not to take sides and he tells her that they are going to counsel.

Right before the counseling session, he gets a phone call that he has been indicted for not paying child support.  And is pretty much told that if he looses the trial he will go to jail for up to two years.

Kalenna and Tony get ready for their newest addition and there is a lot of pressure on them because of the money problems they are having. He wants to go into business with an old business partner (who got him in trouble last time) and tries to convince her to let them take their life savings and invest it.

After Kalenna has the baby, Mimi, Karlie Redd and Diamond visit her. Karlie tells her about what happened at the opening of her event in particular about Rasheeda “turning up” and Kalenna says, during her confessionals, that she knows Karlie is messy and what she is saying about Rasheeda, “Is not the Rasheeda I know.”

Then there is Karlie Redd and she is about to go in on Rasheeda because she feels that she brought Erica to her event to spoil it. Karlie invites her to a restaurant and tells her exactly how she feels as they go back and forth. They really dig deep with their insutls and by the end of their “conversation” they are calling each other all kinds of bitches, hoes and Rasheeda “calls” AARP to pick Karlie Redd up…. Good one!

love hip hop atlanta cuffed up 2015 404Then there is messy ass, crazy looking ass Nikko. His wife, Margeaux, finally comes to live in Atlanta and this dude gets her an apartment in his building . She tells him that he can’t just come in when he wants and she says that there relationship is open by default. He tells her about the sex tape and book deal with Mimi and she breaks down crying. He then turns around and tell her that the whole sex tape and everything was ALL Mimi.  Margeaux is speechless(so am I). Okay Nikko, if no one was supposed to know that it is all Mimi, why the hell, knowing that you are on a TV SHOW would you tell her wife in front of cameras?

There is also that chick Sina and she is just too fucking much. She shows up at Khadiyah’s office to show her a video of her and Joc having sex.  Kaydee takes that damn tablet, throws it on the ground and stomps on it. She tells Sina about herself tells that bitch to bounce… AND throws her purse at her.

Now the thing about her, which I continuously don’t get about women period, instead of going in on Joc’s ass, she says, “Imma kill him with kindness” and show him all that he is missing. She gets home, ties him up and changes into something “more comfortable”. She comes out with strawberries (feeds him) and then shows him the video that Sina showed her.

He asks her to untie him and she says no. He blames Sina about everything that happened claiming she drugged him. Khadiyha beats him with a whip! It is actually a funny ass scene. Joc, in all that is happening, is turned on by it and she leaves his ass right there tied up. Beast… Mode Kaydee… Beast mode! Although I still think you should leave his ass.

At the end of the show, Stevie J and Joseline meet with a counselor and as he tells Joseline all that she needs to do to help her husband, she says I am willing but I don’t want to stop drinking. She then breaks down crying when she finds out that Stevie might have to go to jail for two years because of the indictment. When her husband says I need you to be here for me she says it’s always about Stevie J and “ if I was going to do me, I wouldn’t be here right now.” She says that she just wants him to respect her as his equal.

Come one Stevie, the Good Guy can get out of his on way to do that… right?

LOVE & HIP HOP ATLANTA 403: Rehabilitation

love hip hop atlanta season 4 2015Love and Hip Hop Atlanta is slowly still slow with the major drama but trust and believe it is boiling up.

First up this week is Erica dealing with her baby daddy, Lil Scrappy, and his child support problems. Because he has not been “pulling his weight,” she decides to do the unthinkable- take him to court! She says he owes her an estimated $46,000 in child support! Damn. Um I think I would have a problem paying that too. Her lawyer and he tells her that she need to sign papers to request he be arrested. Well, well, well. So much drama in the ATL.

Then there is Young Joc and this dude just does not stop. I feel bad for his girl, Khadyiah because she is up here payrolling his studio time and stuff and he’s screwing Sina. Khadyiah can’t get a hold of him so she decides to show up at the studio and “his fourth baby momma) is there in total bitch mode. I don’t get, for the life of me, why these women have beef with each other over these doggish men. Sina immediately throws shade, which is totally unnecessary. Khadyiah is polite and greets her and she’s like, “fuck that, Joc tell her what we do for real, for real.” Sina lets it out the bag that they are still knocking the boots. Khadyiah asks, “When was the last time ya’ll had sex?” He of course avoids the question and then tells Sina, “Let’s step outside.” She goes off and Khadyiah is like, “Get her out” and he does.

Ever the one to prove her point, Sina invites Joc over and hides a video to show exactly what is going on when he visits her.

After their little runin, Khadyiah decides to be the bigger woman and invites Sina to lunch. They talk about the man that they are both in love with and Sina tells her how Joc is not who he says he is. KayD doesn’t want to accuse the girl of lying but her man is telling her a different story. Of course neither chicks want to hear what the other has to say and the baby momma storms out.

We see Stevie heading to rehab. His wife Joseline is with him as they take the drive. During confessionals she says, “He doesn’t deserve this.” Um, he failed a drug test so it’s not about what he deserves, it’s about what he did.

Speaking of Joseline, she plans to keep herself occupied while Stevie is in rehab for thirty days by “working” (and by working she means, popping, dropping and showing off all the fake accessories Stevie bought) and planning for the wedding that they never had. She is in rehearsal and gets a visit from Karlie Red. Why the hell is she even in this season anyway? Her story line is everyone else storyline. They catch up and Joseline tells her that she is a changed woman and that she ain’t got time to be fighting no bitch. We’ll remember that.

love hip hop atlanta rehabilitation 403 2015Momma Dee steps in to talk to Erica about serving Scrappy papers. She and her son were hanging out at a strip club when it happened and she is upset. When she confronts Erica about it, Momma Dee brings up something about her and Scrappy signing something via a business agreement that that “waived” him having to pay child support (um where they do that at). Momma Dee keeps her calm though, calling upon Jesus to help her. She walks away letting Erica know that she will see them in court.

Mimi, in an attempt to get some help with the whole Nikko thing, goes to Deb to understand how she can best rid herself of him. She thinks about it for a second and tells Mimi to write a little ten page book that pretty much says, “Got yo ass nigga… here’s your book.” She brings up the fact that Stevie wants her to meet with Joseline and expresses how much she is not willing for it to go down. Deb tells her to sit her ass down and talk to the girl… “For the sake of the baby.”

The two do meet, as promised, and it is all over the place. Mimi thought she was there so that her baby daddy’s wife could apologize, Joseline was there because of Stevie and things when south quickly. The meeting doesn’t last long as the porn star (not Joseline, Mimi) walks out restaurant. Yay, no fighting.

Rasheeda meets with Erica and she tells her everything that has gone on with Kirk and how he hasn’t been supporting her in particular, about opening up her own store. Erica tells her “sometimes you just gotta to do what you gotta do.” Rasheeda agrees and then asks her about the grand opening of the store that she and Karlie Red are partners in. Erica looks at her like she is crazy because apparently, she had no idea.

At the grand opening of Karlie’s boutique, we see K. Michelle and Jessica Dime (the stripper from Florida) showing their support. During this time, you can kind of say that Rasheeda throws some shade at Ms. Red who turned this around (from what it seems) in no time  but really, she was taking up for Erica. They argue, Jessica jumps in (verbally not physically) and Erica, pissed, knocks over jewelry displays as she makes her exit.

There you go, that’s the good ole drama we’ve been waiting for right? Ugh… maybe next week guys.

LOVE & HIP HOP ATLANTA 402: Say Goodbye

love hip hop atlanta season 4 2015This week on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, it brought more revelations and more drama. Nikko is still on hi slime ball rampage as we see him continue to provoke Stevie J. After their altercation he tells him “Your daughter will call me daddy.” Why do men always have to go there with other men?

He also met with Mimi and let me tell you, she hates him! You can see it in her eyes. Or maybe she hates herself for not listening to everyone that told her to stay away from his ass. Anyway, they met in a park at night because according to Mimi, she didn’t want anyone to see them and think they were back together. She tells him to back off, he asks her why she sent Stevie J to fight him. She denies it and tells him that he needs to leave her alone. He says that he’s not leaving anyone alone because he wants his money and he is going to get it. Mimi calls his bluff and walks away. As she does, he tells her that she needs to watch it or else he is going to let something lose he has on her for everyone to see.  Apparently when they were together (for two years) he was recording their conversation. Now that is a pussy ass nigga. She better not tell Stevie.

love hip hop atlanta 402 recap say goodbye 2015Speaking of “The Good Guy” he takes a drug test and fails so he has been ordered to 30 days of rehab. At the same time, his wife Joseline is back in the picture and she is super upset about everything she has been seeing and hearing. She goes off for him letting his baby momma and others calls her a junkie and an addicts and says “you know I don’t do drugs like that.” He gets her to calm down and later at dinner is drops the bomb on her about having to go to rehab. She sheds some tears and then he tells her that he wants her to sit down and have a conversation with Mimi. She is hesitant but says that she will do it to show support to her husband. She also says that him being away will give her time to plan a real wedding.

Stevie also tells Mimi that he wants her and Joseline to talk. She says, “what the hell for? Pretty much he says for the sake of Eva. He also tells Eva that he has to go away for “four Fridays” and she listens to him while shaking her head yes with tears in her eyes.

On the other side of Atlanta, Kirk has a red carpet even that of course Rasheeda attends. His new artist Ashley is also there and this is the first time that the two ladies meet. Rasheeda throws some slight shade her way (can you blame her) but Ashley says, “I’m just gonna kill her with kindness.” During their “conversation” Ashley lets it slip that the meeting she has been having with Kirk at the “Buckhead office” have gone really well. It is clear that such a location even exists to Rasheeda. Kirk happens to come over at that time and lets just say he can tell that his wife is “no bueno.”

Later, wanting to get to the bottom of it, Rasheeda enlists the help of Karlie Red to find out what the hell is really going on with her husband. They search his shit and find an apartment lease (in the amount of $3,5000 a month) with both of their signatures on it. She didn’t sign shit.

She goes down to the “office” and Kirk is in a wife beater and some shorts. She is totally taken aback because it is not an office at all but indeed a two -bedroom condo. She goes off on him and he stands there calmly. She then asks him does he want her to open a store and he says without hesitation, “No” to which she says “cause you ain’t shit.” She then tells him that she wants them to discontinue being partners.

Then there is Young Joc. He is with his girl Kaydee and they seem to have a good relationship but that does not stop him from fucking his baby momma’s like Sina. Who has one pair of his twins. “When he comes over we have sex.” Wow Sina, that is the way to go, you’re so classy.

In the end everyone has there own things to deal with. It seems that they are steadily somewhat slowly building up the major drama Love and Hip Hop are known for. But don’t fear, you know it’s coming.

LOVE & HIP HOP ATLANTA 401 Recap: Danger Zones

love hip hop atlanta season 4 2015Last night, we saw the season premiere of the new of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and in true ratchet fashion, it delivered on every level.

The show opens up establishing everyone’s storyline. Mimi has started her own artist development business (hmmm sounds like someone we know from a little place called New York) and guess who she has gone into business with… Sleazy J… I mean Stevie J. They two seem to be getting along and it may have something to do with the fact hat Nikko is no longer in the picture. Or is he? I’ll get to that later.

Her first client is a girl named Tiffany Foxx. She wants him to work on her from the music aspect as she works to get her other stuff together.  By the way, Joseline is no where to be found but is referred to as being in Puerto Rico “getting her head together.”  If you don’t know what happened last season at the reunion, she went ALL the way off and they literally had to peal her off of people.

Rasheeda and Kirk are back together and their marriage looks like it is in a nice place. Karlie Rea goes back to Miami to get a new stripper (Jessica Dime) to bring her back to Atlanta because she is “hanging up her stilettos and G String for a music career.” The chick with Karlie tells Jessica that they can get her $30,000 a week (well hell show me to the pole) and she is all about it (um… who isn’t).

Erica and Momma D are getting along and I think it’s real ya’ll. She shows up at Momma D’s show because, you know… she sings now. She tells her baby daddy’s mom that he is not pulling his weight with paying his child support and Momma D says that if he is slacking it is more than likely because of his new boo Bambi. Scrappy and Erica are on very bad terms and Momma D tries to serve as the in between to see what is really going on. She tells her son after her performance that maybe he should talk to Erica to clear things up and he says that he has noting to say to her but take care of his daughter.

We are introduced to Nikko’s wife (yes this fool has a wife). Her name is Margeaux and she is a model, singer, actresses, etc. They have been married the ENTIRE time that he has been messing with Mimi. They have an open marriage and even though that is the case, she still feels a certain way about their sex tape among other things. They meet in New York and she pretty tells him that after his stint with Mimi, she doesn’t know if she can stay married to him (he didn’t tell her about it).

Stevie J shows up for Tiffany’s show even though he was not impressed with her at her rehearsal. I guess she took too long to come on stage because he acts a straight fool. You can tell that he is pissy drunk. When Tiffany finally comes out, he stands and claps obnoxiously and chants her name. Mimi tries to get him to stop and sit down as she quickly thinks to herself that it was a mistake to go into business with him.

We see Kirk in his “office” which is really just a fucking two bedroom apartment in the heart of Atlanta. He is trying to act like everything is cool but you don’t have a whole damn apartment as an office where you bring “artists.” Speaking of artists, the new girl he just signed, a little light skinned named Ashley, is already starting trouble. She meets him in his office and just looks like she is up to no good. She lays on his bed (did I mention this is his office) asks to see the rest of the house, toots her ass in his face as she has him “help” her take her jacket off, hugs him and asks about his wife. She’s a bitch.

Back at the house, Rasheeda’s businesses are booming and when Kirk comes in, she talks to him about getting a store. She asks him for “like $50,000” and he is hesitant. She asks him to kick into CEO mode and he takes this time to tell her about Ashley. Great timing Kirk.love hip hop atlanta danger zone recap 2015 401Mimi has a photo shoot and guess who shows up… the Stevie J look a like. Nikko goes in and accuses her of trying to keep stuff from her. He says that he has 25% of her book and should know what is going on. Now she is all of a sudden so clearly seeing him for what he really is. “Stop trying to fucking eat off of me.” Oh Mimi, if only you had come to this conclusion earlier.

Mimi summons Stevie to her house to talk about his behavior at Tiffany’s show. She confronts him about his drunkenness and he says “the industry may have turned me into a little of an… alcoholic.” Hmmmm, I didn’t that was something to be proud of Stevie J. Mimi asks him if he has issues with substance abuse and he says no. She doesn’t believe him and thinks that Joseline has something to do with it. During this time, she tells him about her issues with Nikko and Stevie ain’t having it.

He pays Freako (his pet name for Nikko) a visit and they “talk” about the situation with the book. He says that he can have it if he pays him. Stevie asks how much he wants and he says $2 million. Stevie J tells him that if he put the book out, he’s going to have some problems. Nikko mentions how his daughter is going to eat from the money, which is the last straw for SJ so he takes him down.

At the end of show, Kalenna and Karlie go shopping for some baby clothes. Apparently there is some tension between her and Rasheeda. She has a baby shower and both she and Kirk show up. Kalenna and Rasheeda talk about the tension to clear the air and that they do.

It was a pretty good start to the season and there is no doubt we are in for a hell of a ride.

LEGEND Movie Trailer: Tom Hardy Stars as a Bad Ass Twice

0

tom hardy plays badass in legend movie images 2015The trailer for the upcoming gangster film Legend just debuted and it’s making all female Tom Hardy fans break out in a sweat. Why? Because for the first time we’ll get to see double the Hardy on the screen at the same time. That’s right, in Hardy’s new movie he’ll be playing the identical twin gangsters Ronald and Reginald Kray. This movie is based on the true story of the Kray twins who terrorizes the streets of London during the 50s and 60s while they reigned supreme as gangsters.

If you’re not familiar with the Kray twins, then meet Ronald and Reggie. It is suspected that Ronald suffered from paranoid schizophrenia due to his irrational behavior and extreme violence. The brothers ran a gang called “The Firm” that were involved in armed robberies, arson, protection rackets, assaults and even murders! Yeah, their gang pretty much participated in everything illegal you can think of. A main source of their income and criminal cover-up included being West End nightclub owners. Their night club was extremely successful and caused them to rub elbows with famous celebrities like Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra.

That didn’t slow down their violent nature at all however. The Krays were highly feared and later were interviewed on television while becoming celebrities. The twins were arrested on 9th May 1968 and were sentenced to life in prison.

The trailer draws you in right away if your a sucker like me for a gangster film. The music gives the trailer a time period appropriate flare. It’s clear from the trailer that you will be transported right away in to the 50s and 60s with this film as the clothes, cars and scenery are on point and dazzling.

My only hope is while I think Emily Browning is a wonderful, young actress, I really hope that a overly sappy love story isn’t thrown in there “just because.” Love stories are cool and all, but I loath when they end up taking away from the true nature of a story.

Did I mention this film will have double the Tom Hardy sexiness?

Here’s what it’s all about:

From Academy Award® winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential, Mystic River) comes the true story of the rise and fall of London’s most notorious gangsters, Reggie and Ron Kray, both portrayed by Tom Hardy in an amazing double performance. Legend is a classic crime thriller taking us into the secret history of the 1960s and the extraordinary events that secured the infamy of the Kray twins.

Written and directed by Helgeland, the Studiocanal, Working Title and Cross Creek film co-stars Emily Browning, David Thewlis, Christopher Eccleston, Chazz Palminteri, Tara Fitzgerald and Taron Egerton. Working Title Film’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner produce Legend alongside Chris Clark, Quentin Curtis and Cross Creek Pictures’ Brian Oliver. Universal will release the thriller in the U.S., and Studiocanal will distribute in the U.K., France, Germany and Australia/New Zealand.

The film will be released September 11, 2015 in the UK. Sadly, there’s no American release date yet, but I’m sure we’ll hear of one soon.

Until then enjoy the trailer below!

THE STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT Gets It All Real This Time

0

The Stanford Prison Experiment appears to be the first time that the infamous Stanford Prison Experiment story will be, as accurately as possible, brought to screen. The German film Das Experiment and it’s American remake The Experiment told the story in their own manner. However, both stories were very exploitive and went way over the limit with what really happened.

Don’t be fooled however, the original story is shocking and entertaining enough. If told in its purest form, you will be shocked by what unfolds before you. This movie holds a special, special place in my heart as I studied it extensively for a college class I was taking in high school. It was shocking to me how quickly people turn evil and turn on each other when in positions of authority.

In the film, 24 males out of 75 are selected tp take on randomly assigned roles of prisoners and guards in a mock prison experiment set up by Dr.Phillip Zimbardo. What makes this film stand out from the others already is the fact that they’re using the actual names of some of the people involved. For example, Dr. Phillip Zimbardo is the name of actual doctor who conducted the experiment. If you want a great book to read about how easy it is for men to do evil things to each other than check out The Lucifer Effect, it’s a non-fiction read you won’t soon forget.

the stanford prison experiment trailer images 2015

Back to the trailer, it doesn’t take long for you to see that the tide changes in the prison quickly. The guards start to take their role very seriously and begin abusing the prisoners right away. As the prisoners begin to act out(because it’s not human nature to take abuse laying down) the abuse gets worst and worst. This is supposed to be a high-end science experiment as it’s taking place in the basement of the Stanford Psychology building.

However, Dr. Zimbardo finds it really hard to shut the experiment down or turn away. I mean after all, he’s getting some never before seen footage. He’s seeing first hand and up close how historical events such as the holocaust and slavery happened. But what happens when the one man who has the power to shut the experiment down, doesn’t? Is he now responsible for the brutality going on in the experiment and is he now just as bad as the abuser?

The Stanford Prison Experiment put together an impressive cast. Fronted by Billy Crudup as Dr. Zimbardo, the younger component includes Michael Angarano (The Knick), Ezra Miller (who will play the Flash in DC’s cinematic superhero universe), Tye Sheridan (the new Cyclops of X-Men: Apocalypse), Thomas Mann (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), and many more. Olivia Thirlby (Dredd) also plays Zimbardo’s wife, who has her own concerns with this entire set up.

This is a great story about how easy it is for all of us to go dark. Everyone has a dark side to them and if put in certain situations it will always come out! This film is getting a July 17th limited release, but I really hope it will be on DVD soon!

CLOSER TO GOD Gives Us Frankenbaby

0

closer to god horror movie images 2015Closer to God is an upcoming horror/sci-fi thriller that looks like another Frankenstein story for the modern age. I’m not saying this won’t be a good Frankenstein story, but that it will certainly be an interesting Frankenstein story. The film’s trailer is dark and foreboding. There’s no glimmer of light in the entire trailer which makes me hopeful it won’t be too glossy and high tech. It is hard to tell whether this film is more sci-fi or more horror as the trailer equally points at both genres.

The story is about a genetic scientist that has made a huge break through. He’s cloned the first human ever: baby girl Elizabeth. However, his work is soon threatened by a dark secret that very few people know about. It’s a secret that is going to destroy him and his entire world before he can stop it.

No, the idea for this story is not particularly original. The title is bold, calling it closer to God definitively lets you know exactly what you’re getting in to. The universal theme that “playing with God will get you in trouble” just never gets old. Especially since we live in a society where technology grows by leaps and bounds everyday. There’s always talk about some sheep being cloned so, a human being cloned is not far off at all.

What impressed me the most about the trailer was it does look bare-bones and believable. Too often these films are so glossy that it removes us from the actual message that these things could happen in due time. The film also doesn’t give too much away. You see the child being born in a lab, we hear talk about the new baby coming in to the world and how excited everyone is. Then, we see blood spread throughout the new family’s house. We don’t see anything that directly shows the devastation little Elizabeth brings. There are people being pushed down and people screaming.

The only cliche moment in the trailer is when the doctor announces that he didn’t stop to answer certain questions. Am I supposed to believe that they created a super intelligent baby and DIDN’T stop to ask what the results would be? That’s a little ridiculous. Also ridiculous is the fact that the doctor himself brings the baby home to his new family. If he doesn’t know what Elizabeth is capable of why would he bring the child home to his family where she can cause havoc?

All answers we’ll have to see the film to answer. The film was already released in the states last year so, I’m guessing the trailer just popped up because it will coming to DVD and on demand very soon! I can’t wait to see how this turns out!

Philadelphia 76ers: Jahlil Okafor Looks to Lead Trio of High Ceiling Big Men

0

jahlil okafor drafted by philadelphia 76ers nba draft 2015Over the past three years, the Philadelphia 76ers have established a bit of a franchise tradition: always go for the most talented player in the draft, no matter how much talent the team has at that player’s position.

After acquiring Nerlens Noel in a draft-day trade with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013 and Joel Embiid last season, the Sixers selected Duke superstar Jahlil Okafor at No. 3 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft. Okafor, who was not supposed to fall to the 76ers at 3rd overall, joins the quickly-improving Noel and perpetually-injured Embiid in what could be the best big man trio…well, ever.

I can’t recall the last time three centers with so much talent and potential joined forces. Maybe Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum in their primes, but even then it was only two. Then again, at this rate, the Sixers will be lucky to have two of these three available at any given point.

Noel missed the entire 2013-2014 season with an ACL tear he suffered before the draft. He came back strong this season and rapidly improved throughout the year, but he is still in no position to be able to lead this team. Embiid, on the other hand, missed this entire past season, and recent developments suggest that missing the entire 2015-2016 season is still not off the table for the big man.

Okafor now has a very important job in Philadelphia: he is expected to lead this trio (or duo) of potentially-dominant centers in a league where most teams are starting to give the nod to smaller lineups. The Golden State Warriors just won an NBA Title with a small lineup, and even the Los Angeles Lakers showed a smaller preference by selecting D’Angelo Russell over Okafor at No. 2.

While there is no guarantee that the Sixers’ strategy will result in 20 wins this coming season or a single All-Star, pairing the dominate post scoring of Okafor with a defensive leader like Noel has a clear and enormous potential upside.

Who knows, maybe when Embiid comes back, the 76ers will revolutionize the game, forcing other teams to seek out powerhouse centers in order to compete. Or, maybe they’ll fall flat on their face. Either way it should be interesting to watch.
