Best Bets On NFL Teams 2015 Season

best bets nfl teams 2015 new england patriotsThe 2015 National Football League season is upon us and as we head into Week 1 action there are very few things that are guaranteed. One, and only one, NFL team will be crowned champion of Super Bowl 50 and only one team will hold the first pick in next year’s annual draft. Those are for sure. Who will lay claim to a Super Bowl title or the first draft choice remains to be seen. Here’s a look at the best bets on NFL teams this season.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots will win the AFC East Division title for the seventh straight season. The dynasty created by head coach Bill Belichick has won 12 of the past 14 division titles. With Tom Brady’s four-game suspension lifted, the Patriots do not have to go to backup Jimmy Garoppolo. That means Belichick and Brady will start fast as they cruise to yet another division championship.

Denver Broncos

After winning four straight AFC West Division titles, one would think that a coach has some job security. Not true in Denver. Team President and Hall of Fame QB John Elway decided to part ways with John Fox after the Broncos lost in the AFC Championship game. Enter Gary Kubiak, a former Bronco quarterback coach and the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator last season. Kubiak inherits what may be the most explosive offense in the NFL with 18-year veteran Peyton Manning at quarterback and Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryious Thomas at wide receivers. A running game that features Montee Ball, Ronnie Hillman, and C.J. Anderson makes the Denver offense even harder to defend. Add to that a defense led by DE DeMarcus Ware and LB Von Miller and a fifth straight division title is in the cards.

Seattle Seahawks

Yes, the Seattle Seahawks will play in another Super Bowl. After last year’s loss to the Patriots, head coach Pete Carroll’s squad will be looking for revenge. The team went out in the offseason and acquired arguably the league’s best tight end in Jimmy Graham. The former Saints TE offers Seattle another dimension in the passing game, one that would have surely helped on that fateful play at the goal line in last year’s Super Bowl. If you’re a Seahawks fan, reserve your Super Bowl tickets early. They are going back.

Washington Redskins

The ‘Skins will finish last in the NFC East. Head coach Jay Gruden will battle with quarterback problems all season. He recently named Kirk Cousins the starter over former first round draft choice Robert Griffin III. Colt McCoy was also in the mix and even started a few games last year. When Gruden and Washington can’t put it together, it will lead them right to the basement of the division.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The lowly Jags are doing their best to get better, but they will not win a game until at least Week 5. The season starts with NFC South contender Carolina. After a home game with the Miami Dolphins, there are road trips to New England and Indianapolis. Head coach Gus Bradley and his squad travel to Tampa Bay in Week 5. If they cannot win then, their next best shot at a victory will come in Week 9 against the New York Jets.

Green Bay Packers

You can bet that the Packers will not miss a beat even without star wide receiver Jordy Nelson. With Nelson out for the season with an ACL injury, reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the Green Bay offense will continue to tear up opposing defenses. Wide receiver Randall Cobb and running back Eddie Lacy will pick up some of the slack. Second-year pro Davante Adams will fill Nelson’s slot. Adams caught 38 passes as a rookie last season. The Packers will still have the ability to pound the ball on the ground with fullback John Kuhn and a powerful, and unheralded, offensive line. Expect Green Bay to battle Seattle in an NFC title game rematch.

Washington, Jacksonville, Chicago, Tampa Bay

One of these four teams will have the first pick in next year’s NFL Draft by virtue of their disastrous 2015 season. The Redskins, of course, have their quarterback woes and Jacksonville will have to battle through some key injuries to not finish dead last in the league. Chicago looked awful in the preseason. New head coach John Fox will turn the franchise into a winner, but the Bears just do not have the roster currently to do so. There is some offense with often overlooked running back Matt Forte and receivers Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal. The problem for Chicago is that Jeffery, Royal, and fellow receiver Marquess Wilson are all questionable for their Week 1 game with Green Bay. Any prolonged injuries could spell disaster for Chicago. The same holds true for Tampa Bay. The Bucs will start a rookie quarterback, top pick in this year’s draft Jameis Winston. As history shows, Winston will struggle. How much may determine where Tampa Bay finishes the season.

AFC South

The Indianapolis Colts will continue their domination of the AFC South Division. Since the division started, the Colts have won nine of 13 championships. Quarterback Andrew Luck, one of the game’s best young QBs, will continue to shine in an offense built around him. Indianapolis picked up veteran running back Frank Gore as well as veteran wide receiver Andre Johnson. Gore will improve the running game, which struggled last season. Johnson pairs with T.Y. Hilton to give the Colts a solid one-two punch in the receiving corps. With three consecutive 11-5 seasons under their belt, the Indianapolis Colts may eclipse that total in 2015. Even if they do not, another AFC South title is a lock.

anthony martial manchester united first impressions images 2015 soccerWhen Manchester United signed Anthony Martial for a price believed to be worth £36m – with add-ons that are likely to take the final fee closer to £60m – and in the process made him the most expensive teenager in the world, many questions were raised regarding the judgement of the Manchester United hierarchy as it was perceived that they have gambled a massive sum on an unproven teenager who may become a great, but equally likely, fail miserably.

However, the youngster has so far taken the Premier League like a duck to water and his assuredness and calmness in front of the opposition belies his age.

Martial made his debut for the Red Devils in a high-stake fixture against Liverpool when he came on as a late substitute with only a few minutes of normal time left in the match. He received a pass from Ashley Young near the left touchline and rushed towards the goal, evading Liverpool’s defenders and eventually got past the centre-back pairing of Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren to make room to shoot. He executed his shot beautifully past Simon Mignolet to announce his arrival to the Premier League in general and the Old Trafford faithful in particular, with a bang.

In their last league game against Southampton, the Red Devils were bombarded with a flurry of shots from the Saints in the first 30 minutes of the match and were down a goal by the 13th minute courtesy of a strike from Graziano Pelle. But in the 34th minute Martial took centre stage and slotted the ball calmly past Maarten Stekelenburg to bring the scores level.

And he was at it again in the 50th minute to put the Red Devils 2-1 ahead against the Saints. His goal led to the travelling Manchester United faithfully sarcastically singing “what a waste of money.”

The Frenchman has scored three times in his two Premier League appearances – combined 80 minutes, to be exact – and his tally is only one short of the four that Radamel Falcao managed the entirety of last season.

The youngster, who was largely unknown outside of France prior to his move to Old Trafford, has drawn comparisons with his compatriot, the legendary Arsenal striker Thierry Henry; and if he continues in the same vein the way he has begun it won’t be long before he starts justifying his price tag.

Martial has also been greatly helped by the timing of his move. The Old Trafford outfit have sold the likes of Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez and also chose to part company with Falcao after the completion of his loan move. Adnan Januzaj, who was talked up by Louis van Gaal as a possible forward option, was subsequently loaned out to German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

As a consequence, Manchester United were left with huge gaps to fill in their forward department. Add to it the wretched form of Wayne Rooney and Martial’s signing became a case of perfect timing for the youngster.

Now, he is assured of getting chances and it’s up to him if he makes them count. And if early signs are anything to go by, he is making a meal of it.

Will Barcelona’s Transfer Ban Hamper Their Season?

barcelona transfer ban hamper season messi 2015 imagesSpanish giants Barcelona were handed a two-transfer window ban by FIFA last year that prevents the club from registering any new players. The club managed to come out of the ban unscathed last season as their extensive 2014 summer transfer business enabled them to overcome the handicap of the ban and they went on to win a treble of the league title, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey in a remarkable season.

However, this season they may face the full brunt of the ban.

Early in the season, they have had to deal with a four-match suspension of Gerard Pique due to a disciplinary infringement by the defender in the Spanish Super Cup clash against Athletic Bilbao. Dani Alves also suffered an injury and sat out the first three league games of the season, and right-back being one of the areas where Barcelona aren’t particularly stacked, they were forced to deploy midfielder Sergi Roberto in defence and, to the good fortune of the club, he managed to make a mark in his new role.

Neymar has also missed a few games after suffering a bout of mumps in the early days of the campaign and the sale of Pedro Rodriguez to Chelsea this summer has left the club light in the forward department.

But perhaps the most damaging injury the Catalan giants have suffered has come in the form of anterior cruciate ligament injury to midfielder Rafinha Alcantara in a Champions League fixture against Roma when he was tackled from behind by Radja Nainggolan.

Now, Luis Enrique’s side are already light in the midfield department as they saw the departure of Xavi Hernandez to Al Sadd at the end of last season. Barcelona only have Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Andres Iniesta as their best set of midfielders, with Roberto filling in when required and perhaps Javier Mascherano when he is utilised in the centre if not in defence.

In the prevailing circumstances, Rafinha was playing a very crucial role for the reigning Spanish and European champions by coming on as substitute and helping the game flow with his dexterity of movement and pace. But his long-term injury has left the Barcelona squad paper thin and they still have three months – with the additional load of participating in the Club World Cup – to negotiate, before they can utilise summer signing Arda Turan or look to purchase someone new in the January transfer window.

As a consequence, there is a possibility that the Catalan outfit could be so stretched by the time they reach the business end of the season that they might not have the legs to successfully defend the three trophies they won last season.

However, this bleak situation can be avoided if one of the Barcelona B players steps up to the task and make the established midfield trio of Iniesta, Rakitic and Busquets fight for their place. Enrique tried Gerard Gumbau in midfield in the last game against Levante and he has also has the highly-rated Sergi Samper to call upon.

It remains to be seen if the transfer ban finally proves fatal to Barcelona’s first team as well.

Ian Somerhalder’s ANOMALY Trailer Hits Plus Giveaway

ian somerhalder anomaly trailer images 2015The new trailer for the sci-fi action-thriller The Anomaly has been released. The upcoming movie is about a former soldier who wakes up in the back of a van and has less than 10 minutes to figure out both how and why he got there. You can pre-order this now if you can’t make the movie which hits theaters Friday.

The futuristic film was both directed by and stars Noel Clarke, known for his role as Mickey Smith in Doctor Who. However, in The Anomaly Noel plays Ryan, the ex-soldier who wakes up in the back of a van beside a young boy who is being held prisoner. Unfortunately, Ryan has no recollection of how he wound up in the van and what he is doing there.

As Ryan struggles to control his mind and body (which is being repeatedly hijacked by another person through cutting-edge biotechnology), he frees the prisoner and begins trying to piece together what happened prior to him waking up in the van. Unfortunately, with the hijacking of his body and mind, Ryan only has exactly 9 minutes and 47 seconds to figure everything out.

Alongside Noel Clarke, the film also stars Alexis Knapp (known for her role as Stacie Conrad in the hit movie franchise Pitch Perfect) as Dana, a mysterious woman who winds up trying to help Ryan establish who he is. Other notable names in The Anomaly include Ian Somerhalder of Vampire Diaries, Brian Cox of X2: X-Men United and Luke Hemsworth, older brother of Chris and Liam Hemsworth.

The trailer begins by establishing the fact the 9 minutes and 47 seconds is an awfully short amount of time when it comes to trying to unravel some sort of evil experiment. It then goes on to show Ryan, as he enters a world as a whole new person after the short time interval and encounters numerous characters who give him hints of the bigger plot that is going on. The trailer also shows a glimpse of Brian Cox as Dr. Langham, presumably the master mind behind this whole twisted experiment, being confronted for his manipulation and control over Ryan – and potentially “everyone’s” mind and body.

The trailer reminded me a lot of the 2011 movie Source Code, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal. Source Code was actually a really interesting movie, with just the right amount of action and mind-bending plot lines. However, from watching just the trailer, The Anomaly seems to give off a cheap knock-off feel. Unfortunately, the limited reviews (15 critics at this point) on Rotten Tomatoes seem to agree, awarding the movie with a meager 37% rating. In comparison to the impressive 92% that Source Code earned, I don’t think The Anomaly will be able to pull off the similar plot-line in a captivating way.

From reading the reviews, it seems that Noel should have strayed away from being both the director and lead actor, as he apparently never “shuns an opportunity to show off body but displays little of the intelligence or flair needed to pull of [this] film…” (Jason Best, Movie Talk).

I will admit the trailer doesn’t look too bad. Nonetheless, as I mentioned, it does have a knock-off feel to it and now that I have read a few reviews of it I don’t think I will check this one out. Instead, I will probably just watch Source Code again and recommend that others do the same (especially if you haven’t seen it yet).

If you want to give The Anomaly a shot and prove me wrong, you can catch it in theatres on September 25, 2015. Or wait for its release On-Demand, DVD and Blu-ray on October 6, 2015.

When you are more known for your antics and behavior than the music you make, that says something about you and your “brand.” Rapper Azealia Banks is at it again, this time, a run in with a fellow passenger has gone viral and it all happened on a Delta Airlines fight from New York to L.A.

Captured on tape by an eyewitness, we see Banks being detained by a Delta flight attendant. She is heard demanding for him to let her go and saying “give me my fucking bag.” The real meat of the tory, besides the incident itself, is the fact that she used homophobia slurs when speaking to Delta personnel.

As the story goes, the passenger next to Banks says that a French passenger three rows ahead of her, was getting his bag done when the rapper tried to go around him. He stopped her with by putting his arm down, which pissed her off. Banks reportedly then hit him in his face, spat on him, grabbed his shirt and caused the scene that was captured on video.

Azealia has told two different stories since this all happened. In the one she told to the co-captain of the flight when he came out to investigate the ruckus she says that the man put his hand in her face but on Twitter, she said that the man hit her in the face.

Azealia I know you are from New York and ya’ll think the world revolves around you but boo boo, get some manners and learn plane etiquette. You wait your damn turn to get off.

Empire and the people involved in the show just can’t seem to get a break. If it not someone suing over their life story being stolen it’s actors suing for defamation?

That’s what Sean Penn is doing because Lee Daniels compared him to Terrance Howard. He has filed a defamation lawsuit against Daniels for supposedly accusing him of domestic violence in a comparison with Howard.

“That poor boy [Terrence] ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some fucking demon. That’s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.”

In the lawsuit for $10 million, Penn’s lawyers say that, “As a result of Penn’s status as a public figure, he has for years been the subject of scandalous, scurrilous, and baseless attacks.”

This is really an act of privilege in my opinion. Penn, your reputation has never been great so why you feel that Daniels’s comments are damaging is a sign that you think way more highly of yourself than you should. Then, you’re suing for millions of dollars? Are you out of your mind?

Times must really be hard.

Should Rob Kardashian be scared of the wrath that is Chris Brown’s stalking of Karrueche Tran? The singer has made it no secret that he still feels a certain way about his former on again off again flame who left him earlier this year after it was discovered he father a baby outside of their relationship.  And by feel a certain way I mean threaten, make fun of and do other whack behavior to the men that e try to catch her eye since they have broken up.

Rob Kardashian, who was M.I.A. from social media for a long time, has made his way back to Instagram and has not been too quiet about his communication with Karrueche.

Now whether it is true or not that they have something brewing is till yet to be seen, but it does seem like he gets personalized pictures to his phone from the model.

“I like when she send me pictures,” he posted with a pic from Brown’s ex.

This all may be to stir up some drama or even a dare to Brown himself. What does Rob really have to be worried about anyway if the two do have something going on? Brown lost her and should let her live her life.

Chris has more important things to worry about like his daughter and his music.

UPDATE:

Turns out that the suggestive photo Rob Kardashian posted was just oral fun. Or at least Karrueche Tran showing off her very swollen face after having dental surgery. The two have been friends since high school and talk all the time so she’s not upset at his having fun.

THE VOICE 902 Blind Auditions Recap

Back again, were the four judges for this season: Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams. Tonight was another round of blind auditions, where the judges begin recruiting for their teams.

Here is a summary of some of the auditions from tonight’s episode:

Blind Joe

“If It Hadn’t Been for Love” by The Steeldrivers

Four chairs turned – ended on Team Blake

Joe was born prematurely and therefore never developed sight. Despite being blind, he taught himself how to play the guitar and subsequently, developed a passion for music. Donning a cowboy hat, Joe won over all four judges with his strong country vocals.

Although Blake claims that Blind Joe is one of the most “special singers [he’s] ever had on [his] team,” I personally thought he sounded like the majority of male country singers who have appeared on the show. That being said, country singers have historically done well on the show.

Ivonne Acero

“Style” by Taylor Swift

Two chairs turned – ended on Team Pharrell

If you are a big fan of the show, you may remember Ivonne from last season’s blind auditions, where she unfortunately did not turn any of the judges’ chairs. However, this time, the 17-year-old had a much more positive reception.

Ivonne was the first singer to audition with a song that is currently popular on the charts. She did a slowed down version of “Style,” and put her own slight twist on the chart topper.

Gage Navarro

“Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” by Cage the Elephant

No chairs turned

Gage fell in love with singing when he was in grade 8, but unfortunately due to the drought in California his family’s golf business has been spiraling downward, which has prevented him from truly pursuing his passion.

However, Gage decided to take a chance and audition for The Voice. Gage had a good rhythm throughout the song but I agree with the judges, who commented that he simply didn’t have any “oomph” in his performance.

Regina Love

“Rock Steady” by The Whispers

Two chairs turned – ended up on Team Adam

Regina, 51, is the typical powerhouse diva that the show seems obligated to have at least one of, every season. Unfortunately, Regina didn’t bring anything memorable to the table and my guess is she won’t make it much further in the competition (unless she finds a way to shake things up a bit).

Zach Seabaugh

“Take Your Time” by Sam Hunt

Three chairs turned – ended up on Team Blake

Zach is a 16-year-old, who ended his football career to pursue a career in music. Although Zach is young, he has a solid, deep voice that surprised both the judges and myself. However, he definitely has some improving to do in terms of his stage presence.

The young singer sounds less country than most singers in the genre, therefore I think he has potential to expand into other genres (i.e. Pop or Rock) later on in the season.

“Overjoyed” by Mutemath

Four chairs turned – ended up on Team Pharrell

Initially I didn’t think Evan had anything special to offer in terms of vocals. Although, I will admit he definitely delivered a high-energy performance. I was surprised that all four judges ended up turning their chairs and thought his voice was incredibly special.

However, when Pharrell asked him to sing a portion of “Overjoyed” by Stevie Wonder, my opinion definitely shifted as Evan delivered a spot-on rendition. This was impressive considering this second performance was completely impromptu. I have a feeling the 20-year-old will be one to watch this season.

Bryan Bautista

“Locked out of Heaven” by Bruno Mars

No chairs turned

Unfortunately, Bryan seemed nervous during his whole performance. I am no music expert, but I am pretty sure he was off-pitch for 90% of the audition.

Emily Ann Roberts

“I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack

Two chairs turned – ended up on Team Blake

The high-school junior, who is inspired by country and blue grass music, has a very soft-spoken voice. It was actually a nice change to hear after all of the singers shown so far. Emily was able to navigate her vocals impeccably and I think she has a good shot at going far, as she has both the country and youth (16-years-old) factor working for her.

James Dupre

“Let Her Cry” by Hootie & The Blowfish

Four chairs turned – ended up on Team Adam

Country singer James was the last act of the night. Although James works as a paramedic, he puts out YouTube videos of him singing on the side. One of his videos ended up going viral and he landed him an appearance on The Ellen Show.

Personally, I didn’t find James interesting at all. However, the judges evidently disagreed with my opinion and praised him on his unique voice and versatility.

James was the first country singer to not join Blake’s team.

So what do the teams look like so far?

Team Gwen already has 6 singers on it, Team Pharrell and Team Blake both have 5 singers, while Team Adam has 3 singers. After the blind auditions, the teams will have 12 singers.

Furthermore, I am still waiting out for a singer that really impresses me. I am hoping there will be some unique renditions of hit songs to come, as those are the auditions that I usually find the most interesting. So far, the majority of the singers seem pretty bland to me and I feel like there has been an awful lot of country singers so far (note: I am not the biggest fan of country music so this may be an exaggeration, but I honestly feel like every other singer has been a country artist).

how to get away with murder fashion sense 101 2015 imagesIt is finally here! Okay almost here but we are only two days away. From what you ask? The much awaited How To Get Away With Murder (HTGAWM) season two premiere.

Annalise Keating, played by the ever beautiful and fierce Emmy award winning Viola Davis, is a badass criminal defense lawyer and she has a bad ass wardrobe to go with it.  But so does Aja Naomi King who plays Michael Pratt.

So in preparation for the show’s return, because I love fashion and am The CurvyGirl Diva, here is a look back and Annalise Keating and Michael Pratt’s best looks from season one of HTGAWM.

As far as Annalise is concerned, she has a classic style. She keeps it simple with sheaths, pearls and statement necklaces but within the outline of her basic wardrobe, she adds some pieces that mix things up.

Michael is a pretty girl, who likes the finer things in life and who believes that what you wear communications to the world who you are.

Here are some of my favorites.

Annalise’ Houndstoooth print

This dress really shows off her assets which she has an ample amount of.  The print is an updated approach to the traditional houndstooth pattern and she pulls if off beautifully.

Annalise’s Floral Dress

Annalise looks so ready for business in this floral sheath. I love the fact that although it is floral, it is still in line with her style. She keeps the colors earthy and dark giving her the continued mysterious vibe while still saying, “I’m an expert… bitch!”

Michaela’s style is actually more along the lines of my personal preference, which of course I love, and this pop of color red is everything. She knows how to make items that may seem more suited for older women her own and that’s how you do fashion.

Annalise loves her black and she has a lot of it. This one in particular is a fave of mine because I really love peplum and because I like when power women break away from the norm to incorporate styles and trends into their wardrobe. Most women would probably stay away from clothing that aren’t suits or along the lines of what society says you should wear as a lawyer, but not Annie. Also, the pop of color she adds with the statement multi strand beaded necklace is the perfect touch.

This dress is ideal because it can be worn in so many ways. Michaela is prissy and looks are very important to her, it is a no brainer that she would wear it. The classic black and white is just that… classic and the fit is feminine and fun. Also the pattern is not overwhelming but just the right combination of stripes. I love, love, love this dress on her.

The very first time we see Annalise, she is wearing this burgundy/red leather blazer with zipper detail and a black pencil skirt. And it is everything. The edginess it brings to the character as the initial first look goes perfectly with the way she operates throughout the whole season. Also because it has the peplum design, it makes it all the more fun.

She has a trench coat style that we saw a lot of in the first season. She of course kept it classy and simple but at the same time it was pretty epic and different. In this look, she rocks her signature sheath and adds a trench coat styled sweater.

This is my favorite of all of her black dresses. It is a power dress and one that demands attention. The design and the collar make it a go to for the woman who likes to keep things traditional but also who doesn’t mind shaking it up a little bit.

This is a great piece for Michaela because she is a young black woman who is trying to make a name for herself. Therefore, her style is a lot of the time not reflective of what others her age and background would wear. But the cool thing about her is that her wardrobe, perhaps maybe more so than others on the show, really tell the story of who she is. And this powder pink blazer with flare at the waist is so pretty.

Sheldon called Leonard to tell him not to get married because women are the worst. He then told Leonard Amy broke up with Sheldon. Penny called Amy to ask if she was OK and that’s when Amy found out Penny and Sheldon were getting married. Sheldon figured out Penny was on the phone with Amy and since Amy was upset about Penny and Leonard getting married Sheldon told them to do it if it was upsetting her.

Sheldon went to Amy’s apartment to talk but Amy said she wasn’t ready. He wanted to get back together but Amy said it wasn’t happening. She told Sheldon she was going to watch the stream of Penny and Leonard’s wedding at Howard and Bernadette’s house. Leonard many Penny promise he was happy about getting married.

At Howard and Bernadette’s house Bernadette and Amy talked about her breakup with Sheldon. Bernadette looked out their window and saw Sheldon looking in at them. Howard closed the curtains but then Bernadette reopened them and told Sheldon he wasn’t making things better.

At the chapel, Penny and Leonard asked about their wedding package and they kissed. Back at Howard and Bernadette’s Sheldon asked Raj if he was concerned that Sheldon and Amy weren’t getting affectionate with each other anymore. He then told Raj they had broken up.

Now at the altar Penny had no vows written but Leonard did. He read his vows to Penny and she was blown away. Penny told Leonard he was the love of her life and her best friend. She said she’d do anything for him.

Sheldon confronted Amy and she said he hadn’t given her the space she asked for. She called him immature and selfish and told him their relationship was over. During that time they missed the feed of Penny and Leonard officially becoming husband and wife because they were distracted by the breakup of Sheldon and Amy.

Leonard carried Penny across the threshold with difficulty. Once in their hotel room they kissed but Penny stopped because she was picturing Leonard kissing the girl he kissed while they were broken up. Penny asked  Leonard if he felt guilty for kissing the woman and he said yes. He slipped and said he still feels guilty every time he sees her, which upset Penny. Then they argued and Leonard tried to fix the situation with sex.

Sheldon called his mom and told her he and Amy broke up. He said he wanted to send the ring he was going to give Amy, back to his mother. Bernadette and Howard told Amy things would get better after the breakup. Amy questioned whether or not she did the right thing and Stuart said maybe it was time for her to do the wrong thing.

Penny and Leonard got home and Penny told him she wasn’t OK with him having kissed another woman. Sheldon took a pot of tea over to Penny’s apartment. Sheldon and Penny discussed the woman that Leonard kissed and Penny said she was angry because he still sees the woman at the university where they work. Penny said she couldn’t believe Amy went through with the breakup.

Sheldon and Leonard talked about why men are better than women. He called men the champagne of genders. Leonard said he couldn’t believe he was spending his wedding night with Sheldon.

THE VOICE 901 Recap: Jordan Smith Stands Out

the voice 901 recap adam levin images 2015Monday (September 21) marked the premiere of The Voice season 9. The show opened up with this season’s four judges, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton singing snippets of each other’s hit songs (such as “Sugar” by Maroon 5 and “Up All Night” by Pharrell). After the collaboration, the show’s host Carson Daly previewed the upcoming season and claimed that tonight’s episode will be “the most shocking blind audition” in the show’s history.

Unfortunately, the show was filled with more singers that seemed to just blend in with one another than any that truly stuck out and showed promise. Nonetheless, the majority got at least one chair to turn and so began the recruitment for the judges’ teams.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the judges are as the season progresses as each one of them have had pretty major life things happen. Pharrell had the lawsuit brought against both he and Robin Thicke for the “Blurred Lines” song by Marvin Gaye’s family which they lost. Blake Shelton filed for divorce from Miranda Lambert amid many rumors of trouble there and Gwen Stefani has broken up with long-time husband/singer Gavin Rossdale. Adam Levine seems to have had the least happening aside from divorce rumors.

Mark Hood

“Use Me” by Billy Withers

Four chairs turned – ended up on Team Pharrell

Mark was the first to audition tonight. His intro had him explaining that he has prior experience in the entertainment industry, including playing “a dead guy” on a TV show. His personality shined through during his performance. Although his vocals weren’t particularly memorable, his stage presence definitely was. After Mark admitted that he aspires to be an artist that is a mix of “John Legend and Pharrell,” it was clear where he was headed: Team Pharrell.

Kota Wade

“Bring It On Home to Me” by Sam Cooke

Three chairs turned – ended up on Team Gwen

Although Kota came out with a relatively unique voice, it wasn’t necessarily a strength that played in her favor. Blake commented that her voice is like “a modern-day Cindy Lauper,” however although she does have the raspy tone she doesn’t have much else that warrants a comparison to Lauper.

Keith Semple

“I’ll Be There for You” by Bon Jovi

Two chairs turned – ended up on Team Adam

Keith is a 33-year-old Irish rocker who has been playing “gigs” since he was 16. He became part of a relatively successful rock band, that actually opened up for Bon Jovi (which is one of his biggest musical influences). While Keith has a strong voice and is obviously experienced and talented musically, personally he sounded a bit too much like what you would expect to hear from the lead singer of a “rock band” targeting teenagers (i.e. Hedley, Simple Plan, etc.).

Alyssa Sheridan

“I Will Remember You” by Sarah McLachlan

No chairs turned

Although Alyssa shared a heart-warming story about losing her step-dad while he was off serving in the military, she couldn’t quite manage to stick out vocally. Basically she could sing the song as good as the thousands of people who have covered it on YouTube.

Attention singers: Despite previous events on The Voice, an emotional story apparently will not, in fact, secure you a place on a judge’s team.

Siahna Im

“Fever” by Peggy Lee

Three chairs turned – Pharrell

Siahna is an off-beat 15-year-old artist who has a surprisingly deep singing voice (in comparison to her youthful, light speaking voice). Not surprising is the fact that she got a chair to turn for her (Gwen) after singing about two words of “Fever.”

“Chandelier” by Sia

Four chairs turned – Adam

Jordan had impressive control over his vocals as he belted out an evidently challenging song. In his audition, he also showcased his ability to navigate his upper register. However, I don’t think he quite fulfills the “most unique voices to ever hit the stage” promo. Although Jordan does admit that he is called “ma’am on the phone all the time.”

Nadjah Nicole

“Tightrope” by Janelle Monae

Two chairs turned – Blake

Nadjah grew up singing at political events. She even had the opportunity to sing at the Apollo theatre, which instilled a passion within her to pursue singing. However, soon after she unexpectedly became a young single mother, which altered her plans and landed her in a banking job.

Nadjah choose a high-pace song for her audition and therefore it was hard to tell what her vocal abilities were for most of the song, as she was more speed talking than anything. However, towards the end she began showing off her range and it was then that she got two chairs to turn: Blake and Adam.

Braiden Sunshine (note: this is his real name, “it’s on [his] birth certificate, [he] swears!”

“The Mountains Win Again” by Blues Traveler

Two chairs turned – Gwen

15-year-old Braiden has already had plenty of experience performing, as he is the lead singer in a local band. Although there weren’t any particular points of excitement in his audition, he did have a soulful voice that was very much reminiscent of last season’s winner, Sawyer Fredericks.

Barrett Baber

“Angel Eyes” by Jeff Healey

Two chairs turned – Blake

Of course the show had to end off with an exciting quadruple chair turn.

Barrett is a 35-year-old father from Arkansas who survived a serious airplane accident during his college years. He has been singing in choirs throughout his academic career and hopes to create his own genre, as he mixes country and soul together. Barrett was probably the most polished voice of the night and had qualities reminiscent of John Mayer. He will definitely be able to appeal to country fans, but has potential for an even wider fan base beyond that.

So that’s it for tonight’s episode. Basically The Voice is back in all its glory including Carson Daly’s excessive hyping of singers, Gwen and Pharrell’s crazy fashion choices, the Adam-Blake bromance and of course, Starbucks cups everywhere!

The clip reveals that the show will feature the relationship drama Kourtney faced with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick earlier this summer.

In July, Scott was seen getting close with L.A.-based stylist Chloe Bartoli while on vacation. Shortly after, Kourtney and Scott announced their split. At this point, most sources are reporting that there is no hope for a reconciliation between Kourtney and Scott. However Kourtney has made it clear that she wants Scott to be as present as possible in their childrens’ lives (Mason, 5, Penelope, 3, and Reign, 9 months).

In the promo, Kourtney is seen raising concern about Scott’s reckless ways and partying, as she claims he is yet again on a crazy “bender.” Shortly after, her mother Kris Jenner is shown reading out a headline from an internet tabloid which states “Scott Disick seen very hands on with brunette stylist.” Afterwards, there is a sneak peak of Kourtney getting very emotional as she tells Kim she has been trying “so hard to keep [her] family together.”

It has been almost 3 months since Scott and Kourtney split ways and since than he has been seen hanging out with Kourtney’s younger sister Kylie. In addition, Kourtney’s mom Kris Jenner also revealed earlier in the week that she still loves Scott and sees him regularly. Despite the family maintaining a connection with Disick, he and Kourtney remain separated. Of course many are wondering if this is just an attempt to give a somewhat interesting storyline to the most boring of the Kardashian clam…I don’t think any of us would be surprised if it was all manufactured as Mama Kris is great at that.

On Monday night, the couple was seen at the grand opening of Drake’s new restaurant Frings, in Toronto.

Frings is Drake’s newest venture, which allows him to remain closely connected to his hometown of Toronto. The Asian-inspired restaurant is expected to be a city hot spot, especially with the head chef being Top Chef Masters season two finalist Sursur Lee.

Rumors began circulating that things are getting serious between the Drake and Serena, since it was revealed that Serena was spotted interacting with Drake’s mom for a majority of the grand opening night. This date night comes a week after the rapper was seen supporting Serena front row at her runway show during New York Fashion Week.

In addition, actress Jada Pinkett Smith and son Jaden Smith were also in attendance for the big debut.

Although the 28-year-old rapper did not post any pictures with Serena, he did post a series of Instagram pictures from the night, including one of him embracing his mother, Sandi Graham.

Bow Wow shows that he’s not so in tune with women as some rumors have attested after blasting Erica Mena as just seeking attention.

There were all kinds of feels and emotions last night as Viola Davis won for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series. This marks a historic moment for the Emmys as she is the first black woman to EVER win in this category.

It was a great night for black women as Regina King and Uzo Aduba won awards as well. It is always refreshing to see women of color do the damn thing, a fact that Davis said can only happen when opportunities are created.

“The only thing that separates women of color from everyone else is opportunity… You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there. So here’s to all the writers, the awesome people – people who have redefined what it means to be beautiful, to be sexy, to be a leading woman, to be black.”

Rock oh pretty lady and thank you for the inspiration.

Speaking of Viola Davis making history, some people were not that impressed with what she had to say. In fact, one person in particular was down right opposed to the idea that Viola Davis as a black woman, hasn’t had opportunities in Hollywood.

General Hospital star Nancy Grahn took to Twitter to express her feelings about Viola’s win and about her views on black women in Hollywood.

“I wish I loved #ViolaDavis Speech, but I thought she should have let @shondarhimes write it. #Emmys.”

“I think she’s the bees knees but she’s elite of TV performers. Brilliant as she is. She has never been discriminated against… Try being any woman in TV. Wish she’d brought every woman in the picture. I wish I’d opportunity to play roles she has get”

“Im a fucking actress for 40 yrs. None of us get respect or opportunity we deserve. Emmys not venue 4 racial opportunity. ALL women belittled,”

I’m just going to say this here and not waste my time yet again in another For the Record (my weekly opinion column) explaining this white girl wonderful shit. We as woman should learn to band together when our sisters win and if a black woman expresses that the color of her skin has finally been a non issue in whether she is awarded for her work, all women should see that as a victory against a system that separates them. Grahn, who I have personally been around and interacted with, sounds salty about what? She has won Emmys and as she mentioned, her long career has been just that, long and steady. Black women haven’t been that afford until recently.

She apologized after receiving a tone of backlash for her comments.

“I never mean to diminish her accomplishment. I wish I could get her roles. She is a goddess. I want equality 4 ALL women, not just actors…I apologize 2 anyone who I offended. I’m women advocate since I became one. After reading responses, I hear u and my tweet was badly phrased.”

That didn’t seem to do it for a lot of folks so she apologized again, this time, making it sound a little more heartfelt

“I apologize for my earlier tweets and now realize I need to check my own privilege… My intention was not to take this historic and important moment from Viola Davis or other women of color but I realize that my intention doesn’t matter here because that is what I ended up doing. I learned a lot tonight and I admit that there are still some things I don’t understand but I am trying to and will let this be a learning experience for me.”

Although that sounds like some spinning, she hit the nail on the head in her second apology. Now I just hope she really means it and will truly become an advocate for ALL women.

It is clear that all is not well in the Bow Wow/Erica Mena camp. Their love story has been the source of a lot of opinions and controversy and now, it seems that the real state of their relationship is slowly being revealed.

Bow Wow or Shad Moss took to social media to pretty much blast his “maybe one day” soon to be wife for posting about a miscarriage that happened five months ago.

He calls her picture accompanied with a poem “attention seeking” because he doesn’t see the point in bringing it up since she didn’t mention it when it happened.

Now I am not one to take up for Mena like ever, but Moss is wrong for not having his girl’s back on this AND for pointing out that this could all be for attention. Miscarriages are hard and some women don’t like to talk about the loss of their child. Some women need time and maybe, five months later, Erica felt it was time.

Either he is totally oblivious to the need to be sensitive… five months later… or he just doesn’t care because they are on the rocks. No man that is totally down for his girl would put her on blast like that. Period.

New York Fashion Week proved to be a reunion for former MTV reality show stars Kristen Cavallari and Audrina Patridge as the two actresses ran into each other during the event. Kristen admitted that she enjoyed running into Audrina and was happy the two were in the same city at the same time, to cross paths.

Dakota Fanning recently told Ellen Degeneres that she has been treated differently since starring in “Fifty Shades of Grey.” The talk show host presented Dakota with handcuffs and a flogger, showing Dakota and everyone else her decidedly naughty side. Dakota confessed that she was riding in the back of a taxi when the driver informed her that he and his wife had seen her in “Fifty Shades of Grey.” The driver told Dakota he thought there would be more sex in the movie, a statement that had Dakota admitting to Ellen that at that point she wanted to simply roll out of the taxi while it was still moving.

The Home Shopping Network recently welcomed Jessica Simpson to promote her merchandise live in the studio. According to those on the scene Jessica was slurring her speech and appeared to be drunk. She drunkenly started talking about how sister, Ashlee looks good in grey jeans and that Jessica wasn’t sure if Ashlee and her husband share jeans.

Selena Gomez held a fancy party for her fans in Los Angeles this week. With 800 guests present at the party, they filled The Palace Theater, which Selena rented specifically for this event. Though the fans in attendance were under the impression that she was to debut her new music video, much to their delight she filmed the video at the party and included her guests in it.

Megan Fox is throwing herself into work to cope with her divorce from Brian Austin Green. Her latest project involves guest starring on Fox’s new TV show, “New Girl.” Though she usually avoids social media she posted a recent selfie on her Instagram account; letting her fans know that she is still out there. According to an executive producer of “New Girl” they are thrilled to have Megan guest starring because the part was written with the hopes of getting her to take it.

Chris Brown continues to struggle with the law as he is now being accused of throwing someone off of his tour bus because the woman wouldn’t give up her cell phone. Police are now investigating the incident, which happened while Chris was in Colorado shooting outside of a strip club for an upcoming music video. He claims that there is no video of this incident but that there is a video of someone breaking into his house, and the police have ignored the video.

Jessica Alba recently claimed that she was roughed up by a bodyguard of Kylie Jenner. The incident reportedly happened at New York City’s Fashion Week when Jessica stated that she was standing by the venue’s door and a pair of Jenner’s bodyguards performed a body check on her.

Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender have publically stated that their romantic relationship is over. Though the couple was together for less than a year, after meeting on a movie set, the split reportedly comes due to Fassbender’s work schedule. Fassbender went on record stating that he is selfish when it comes to the amount of time he spends working and that he has never had a relationship that lasted more than two years.

Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a. The Rock) will become a daddy again when his girlfriend gives birth to their first child. The couple told U.S. weekly that they are excited to be welcoming a baby. The baby will join big sister Simone, Dwayne’s daughter from a previous marriage.

Miley Cyrus is apparently cozying up with Dane Cooke these days, despite the 21 year age difference between them. The two have been friends for several years and Dane was reportedly there for Miley when rumors came out that her boyfriend at the time was cheating on her with a female he went to Mexico for spring break with.

Rihanna’s new line of footwear has been released on the heels of her being appointed a creative director by Puma. The release of the footwear line is accompanied by a commercial starring Rihanna and Travis Scott, who is rumored to be her boyfriend.

Ariana Grande was recently in New York City and appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. On that night’s show the regular “Wheel of Musical Impressions” segment featured Grande doing her impressions of Celine Dion, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

Also on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jessica Alba did a quick interview that ended in embarrassment when Fallon accidently spit on her while talking to her. He apologized profusely and told her he wished he had her brand of wipes.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, Sofia Vergara showed off her engagement ring and talked about her initial hesitancy to begin dating now fiancé Joe Manganiello. She said that she had just broken up with Nick Loeb and she didn’t want to get into a relationship that would be too much work for her. Sofia told Jimmy that she is now so grateful that she accepted his invitation to start dating.
