Who Will Be Top Champions League Scorer For 2015/2016 Soccer Season?

0

who will be top scorer in champions league robert lewandowski 2015The Champions League goal scoring charts have been dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the last several years and this year too, they are expected to be in the running to finish with the top scorer gong. We will look at the players who have a shot at being the highest goalscorer in the Champions League this season.

Robert Lewandowski

The Bayern Munich hitman is one of the best forwards in the game today and he gave a display of his big game credentials when he put four goals past a hapless Real Madrid in a splendid attacking display for his former club Borussia Dortmund in the 2012/13 Champions League campaign. The Poland international has since moved to Bayern Munich, but his goalscoring ability is intact as he displayed earlier this week when he put five past Wolfsburg in mere nine minutes. At the Bavarian giants, he is assured of getting quality service from the likes of Thomas Muller, Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara amongst others and is a sure contender for being the topscorer in the Champions League this season.

Neymar

The Brazil international was the joint top scorer along with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2014/15 Champions League season with a haul of ten goals. And not just the tally, the 23-year-old gave an evidence of his knack of scoring important goals as he scored in both legs of the quarter-final (against Paris Saint-Germain), both legs of the semi-final (against Bayern Munich) as well as the final against Juventus which sealed a fifth Champions League trophy for Barcelona.

Luis Suarez

While Neymar and Lionel Messi were going about their business and scoring goals by the truckload last season, Luis Suarez wasn’t far behind them and he was always there supplying the duo with quality passes and goalscoring opportunities. He did score some important goals himself to enable Barcelona to claim their fifth Champions League trophy, in his first season at the Camp Nou. And now he has a year of experience with the Catalan giants, add to it the fact that he plays through the centre, flanked by Neymar and Messi on both sides and you get the picture that the Uruguayan will not be short of quality balls to score goals of.

Karim Benzema

The Frenchman may be the most unassuming of the BBC trio of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and himself, but he is essential to the fortunes of Real Madrid. The striker has been at the Santiago Bernabeu since the summer of 2009 and has gone on to score 138 goals across all competitions for Los Blancos. He has also provided 86 assists for his team-mates and has become an indispensable member of the Real Madrid first team. Last season, he contributed six Champions League goals and two assists and is set to be an important cog in the Real Madrid machine of Rafael Benitez as they attempt to win their 11th European Cup this term.

Young Soccer Players To Watch Our For In Champions League

In just over a year’s time the young Frenchman has made two big moves. Last summer, he went from French giants Paris Saint-Germain to reigning Italian champions Juventus and after 20 games for the Old Lady, he was on his way to Bayern Munich of the German Bundesliga. The youngster scored his first goal for the Bavarians in only his second game and looks good for a few more. He is likely to be Robert Lewandowski’s understudy this season, but can be counted on to make his presence felt this season.

Raheem Sterling

The England international finally had his wish fulfilled when he moved to Manchester City from Liverpool and has slotted straight away into the Citizen’s first team at the Etihad Stadium. The youngster has been a livewire on the left side of Manchester City’s attack and is likely to have a good Champions League campaign.

Paulo Dybala

The young Argentine moved to reigning Italian champions and 2015 Champions League finalists Juventus from Palermo for big money and has immediately got among the goals, netting three from his five appearances across all competitions so far. The youngster, who came on as sub in Juventus’ opening Champions League fixture against Manchester City, is likely to play a more prominent role as the season progresses.

Julian Draxler

The Germany international is no stranger to Champions League football, having represented Schalke many a times in the elite competition. He has changed teams this summer and will now be donning the colours of Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg were in majestic form last term with Kevin De Bruyne pulling strings from his role in attacking midfield and now the same role has fallen to Draxler after the Belgian’s departure to Manchester City, and he will be eager to make Wolfsburg tick from his number 10 role.

Douglas Costa

The Brazilian moved to Bayern Munich in the summer from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk and has been one of the outstanding performers in the Bundesliga. He was brought in to be a stand-in for injury-prone France international Franck Ribery, but his performances so far have earned him the right to be a starter, and it will be interesting to see what he does at the highest stage of European football.

Anthony Martial

The 19-year-old has announced his arrival in the English league in style as he scored a breathtaking debut goal against Liverpool and has since gone on to score a brace against Southampton. It is still early days of his career at Old Trafford, but he surely looks to be the real deal for the Red Devils. He will be one of the youngsters to watch out for in the Champions League.

Alexandre Lacazette

The Frenchman will be taking the centre stage for Lyon in the Champions League, especially after the long-term injury to Nabil Fekir. And the 24-year-old, who has netted 70 goals in all competitions for Lyon is more than capable of not just leading Lyon’s attack, but also lighting up the Champions League with his skills.

Premier League Week 6 Soccer Recap 2015

0

premier league week 6 arsenal vs stamford bridge soccerThe sixth week of the 2015/16 Premier League campaign began with Arsenal’s visit to Stamford Bridge. The Gunners had defeated Chelsea the first time they met this season – in the Community Shield clash that was decided by a solitary strike from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – and the difficult start that the Blues have endured this season made the Arsenal faithful hopeful of all three points from the difficult away trip.

But in a factious affair in which defender Gabriel and midfielder Santi Cazorla were both sent off for the Gunners, Jose Mourinho’s side proved too difficult to handle for the north Londoners and they succumbed to a 2-0 loss courtesy of a goal each from Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazard.

Bournemouth registered their second win of the season as they defeated Sunderland courtesy of a goal each from Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie. The Black Cats are now bottom of the table, while the Cherries have climbed to 14th spot.

The Midlands derby was decided in favour of West Bromwich Albion when Saido Berahino – who was pining for a move away from the Hawthorns to White Hart Lane – struck the only goal of the game to down Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Newcastle United continued their wretched start to the season as they suffered fourth defeat of the season against Watford and are struck in 19th in the league standings.

Stoke City ran into a 2-0 lead at the Britannia Stadium against Leicester City, but ended up getting only a solitary point as the high-flying Foxes clawed back into the game and managed to eke out a 2-2 draw. The result sees Claudio Ranieri’s side occupy fourth spot in the league standings after the first six rounds of the league season.

Meanwhile, Everton and Garry Monk’s Swansea City played out a scoreless draw at the Liberty Stadium.

In the biggest upset of the weekend, West Ham United ran away 2-1 winners against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium to add them to their list of high-profile scalps that already includes Arsenal and Liverpool. The Hammers have now risen to third spot in the table with four wins from their first six games, while the Citizens were handed their first defeat of the season. Kevin De Bruyne was a livewire on the field in the absence of David Silva and marked the occasion with his first goal for the Manchester giants.

Tottenham Hotspur secured a narrow 1-0 win against Crystal Palace and their goal from summer signing Heung-Min Son. Hugo Lloris was heroic in goal for the Lilywhites to ensure all three points for his side.

Manchester United registered a hard-fought 3-2 win over Southampton. Anthony Martial, who marked his debut for the Red Devils with a stupendous goal against Liverpool, continued his heroics and scored a brace against the Saints. Juan Mata scored the third for the visitors, while Graziano Pelle scored both of the Saints’ goals.

Liverpool went ahead against Norwich City courtesy of a goal from Danny Ings, but had to settle for a draw that keeps them 13th in the table.

Former Miami Dolphins Fullback Heath Evans Not Happy with Ndamukong Suh

0

former miami dolphins heath evans not happy nfl 2015 imagesAfter landing a massive contract with nearly $60 million in guarantee cash, Ndamukong Suh has been less than impressive over his first two games with the Miami Dolphins. By less than impressive, I mean average at best.

Suh is sitting on four quarterback hurries and only two solo tackles on 127 snaps over the first two games. That means Suh has actually done something less than 5 percent of the time. Let’s not forget that Game #2 was against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Speaking of that Week Two matchup with Jacksonville, let’s not forget that the Dolphins lost. Well, apparently some of the blame for that is on Suh’s shoulders, after causing “confusion” on the Dolphins defense by ignoring play calls and just kind of doing whatever he felt like.

According to some sources, Suh has been getting upset with the defensive scheme. They say that the new system is overly complicated, and that Suh is either having trouble learning it, or with $60 million in guaranteed money coming to him he just has absolutely no motivation to learn it.

Some fans on Twitter started asking former Seahawks, Patriots, Saints, and Dolphins fullback Heath Evans what he thought about Suh’s performance so far. Their argument for the most part was that Suh has been double and triple-teamed, so it’s only fair to cut him some slack. Evans wasn’t having any of that:

“Go count the double teams,” ranted Evans on WQAM radio Friday. “You can count them on one hand. He was losing one-on-one matchups. The first two drives, in eight plays, he fell subject to the same block four times…No awareness…Why do you think no legitimate, true Lombardi contender was after him in Free Agency?”

Well, as far as I know, none of the Super Bowl contenders have $100 million to pay a player like Suh. But go on, Mr. Evans.

“Well, the Miami Dolphins fanatics don’t want to answer that question because it makes them look like ‘doggone, our management is screwing this up again.’ And now the world is seeing two weeks in a row, this guy is playing conservative football. He’s not even playing anywhere near as good as he played in Detroit and I don’t think his Detroit play was worth $120 million.”

To be fair to the Dolphins, they only paid him $114 million. Either way, Evans does make some valid points, mainly that Suh looks like he’s just playing to not get hurt and maximize that contract.

He better get going if he wants another $114 million contract after this one is up.

Patrick Kane Rape Allegations An NHL Distraction

0

patrick kane rape allegations 2015 nhlThe start of the 2015/16 NHL regular season is now less than two weeks away. While that has naturally caused plenty of buzz about who is going to do what when play gets underway unfortunately, this year, additional to all the pre-season hype there is plenty of discourse revolving around Patrick Kane, a superstar forward for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Kane’s name has been central to an investigation by the police force in Hamburg, a large town/small city in the state of New York. Back in early August, a young adult woman alleged that the hockey player took her to his home and raped her after they met in a nightclub. Kane, more recently, stated that he was “confident that once all the facts (were) brought to light” that he would be “absolved of having done nothing wrong.”

For the police, I’m not sure if you can build a case around a double-negative. But, personally, if I was accused of rape then I would want to be “absolved” – a word that means cleared – of DOING “wrong.” The last thing I would want is to be “absolved of having done nothing wrong” because if you are CLEARED of doing “nothing wrong” it could mean you did something wrong.

Looks like Kane blossomed as an athlete a little too early in life and hence didn’t have to worry about grammar school that much. He surely meant to say that he is “confident” that he will be “absolved” of wrongdoing.

For the third party on-looker, which basically means everyone besides Kane and the accuser, a common dilemma has once again arisen. For me, it’s the same dilemma I had at the start of the Kobe Bryant rape investigation in the first half of the previous decade. I think it’s a dilemma that many people had and will have in situations like these where all the facts aren’t known.

If Kane committed a crime, especially one as serious as sexual assault or rape, then a decent person would want him held accountable. There should not be any special consideration for his celebrity status. However if he ‘didn’t do nothing’ then I think many would wonder why he was accused and if his celebrity status actually has something to do with it.

We’ve definitely seen cases where an athlete did do something to warrant a rape conviction (ie. Mike Tyson – boxing, Darren Sharper – gridiron football) but we’ve also seen athletes targeted for blackmail or extortion as well (ie. Mark Jackson – basketball).

The dilemma with Kane is that ‘we don’t know nothing’ about what is going on in his situation and his double negatives aren’t helping.

But usually third party on-lookers, like us, have to wait while all the facts start to unravel. That was the case with Bryant and it may be the case with Kane.

Firstly, there is no solid DNA evidence against the NHL star at this point and may never be. In an age where everyone loves forensics, that has to be a massive point in his favor. According to buffalonews.com (September 19th):

“DNA tests taken from a rape kit conducted on the woman showed no trace of Kane’s DNA…in the woman’s genital area or on her undergarments.”

However confusing the matter is a little issue involving a certain possible rape kit.

It has been reported that the attorney of the accuser claimed that an empty paper bag had been placed in the doorway of the accuser’s mother’s home, a bag that allegedly has something to do with the rape kit central to the investigation (the Associated Press reported this on Wednesday). This has lead to questioning of how the Hamburg Police have handled the evidence and, on that note, they claimed that their handling has been “unassailable” (ie. they ‘didn’t do nothing’ either).

So who put that seemingly red herring there and why? And why did the accuser’s lawyer bail?

Us third-partyers are all left to wonder what is going on and my guess is that ‘we won’t never’ get a satisfying answer. We only have our hunches which are dangerous – especially when people start tweeting them to all their followers as though hunches were axioms.

However the strangeness of the paper bag situation does throw an oddity into it all – one that I think helps Kane. In a legal system, like America’s, where the onus is on police and prosecutors to prove guilt and where defense only need to establish reasonable doubt you have to think anything weird probably helps Kane’s side a bit.

Of course the whole situation, whatever the facts, does promise to detract away from something called hockey. After all, the Chicago Blackhawks are the defending champions and they have the same head coach in place and the same key players as last season. Will this issue cause problems and resentment in Chicago? That is a possibility that throws some confusion into standard hockey pre-season analysis. Conversely the situation could die down as it appears to be in some ways.

On that note, until someone comes up with something of substance on the Patrick Kane matter all this Edmontonian has to say is “Go Oilers.”

No Kylie Jenner Tyga Wedding & Kate Hudson Not Feeling So Fabletics

kylie jenner not marrying tyga 2015 gossipIs Kylie Jenner following the footsteps of her older sister Kim Kardashian, and becoming a young bride (note: the first time Kim got married she was just 19-years-old)?

On Thursday night, subscribers to the 18-year-old reality star’s personal website were given the answer: no. During a live stream on her site, Kylie explained that Tyga was simply mocking a video they had seen, when he referred to her as his “fiancée.”

Kylie explained, “He was making fun of an Instagram that he posted like 30 minutes before. He knew there was this guy who was on Instagram, where he found this funny little video and it’s of this guy doing an interview and he’s like, ‘I don’t like nobody. I just play with my fiancée and my little dog.’”

A source confirmed to E! News that the couple is not ready to tie the not any time soon, however they are very serious about each other.

Kim also made an appearance during Kylie’s live stream. During her guest-spot, Kim addressed the rumors that she was mad that Kylie was stealing her spot. She clarified that she was actually proud of Kylie’s success, explaining, “I love it, like, I love it. I need some time off. I mean honey, let’s be real, you’ve got to put in a few more years before you actually dethrone me. But I give my baton to you. Who better to pass on knowledge to my baby sister, rather than a random, non-family member.”

Kate Hudson is also being hit by public criticism for her brand, Fabletics, which sells fashionable athletic-wear. On Thursday, a Buzzfeed News report claimed that the company was using deceptive advertising that was causing unauthorized credit card charges and leading users into unknowingly subscribing to their paid service (“VIP membership”), which is purposely difficult to unsubscribe from.

Fabletics, is the offspring of parent company JustFab and according to reports, the CEO and Co-CEO of JustFab have been tricking customers into unwanted paid subscriptions since at least 2004. JustFab is valued at over $1 billion, but unfortunately a portion of this was made through unethical practices.

Countless customers have taken to social media, specifically Twitter, to express their outrage and dissatisfaction with their experience on Kate’s company’s website. The complaints ranged from awful customer service experience to the inability to opt out of the paid monthly subscription service Fabletic’s offers.

Kate has yet to respond to the complaints and allegations.

La Liga Week 4 Soccer Recap 2015

0

la liga week 4 soccer real madrid vs granadaThe fourth week of the 2015/16 La Liga season began with Getafe hosting Malaga at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez and the affair was settled with the help of a solitary strike from Stefan Scepovic in only the second minute of the match.

On Saturday, Real Madrid played host to Granada – the side they defeated 9-1 in the corresponding fixture last term in a match that saw Cristiano Ronaldo grab five goals. The Portuguese had already achieved the same feat this campaign when he put Espanyol to the sword and was also in marauding form in midweek as he grabbed a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

The stage was set for another butchering of Granada at the Santiago Bernabeu, but the visitors held their own and on another day may have grabbed a point as well, but it wasn’t to be. A Karim Benzema strike settled the affair in Real Madrid’s favour.

Valencia were held to a scoreless draw at home by Real Betis, much to the dismay of the Mestalla faithful. The club that finished fourth in the standings last season and thereby sealed a spot in the ongoing season of the Champions League have now drawn three of their first four games.

An inspired substitution of Angel Correa in the second half by Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone changed the fortune of his side as they registered a 2-0 win over tiny Eibar. Correa grabbed the first goal and assisted the second goal for Fernando Torres to seal all three points for the Madrid outfit.

David Moyes’ Real Sociedad are still looking for their first win of the season as they succumbed to a 3-2 loss at the hands of Espanyol. La Real drew their first two fixtures and lost the following two and are lying 17th in the table as a consequence.

First half strikes from Nolito and Daniel Wass were sufficient to give a 2-1 win to Celta Vigo over Unai Emery’s Sevilla – who are still looking for their first win of the season. Fernando Llorente grabbed the solitary goal for the Andalusian outfit over their Galician rivals.

After two draws and a loss, Sporting Gijon grabbed their first win of the 2015/16 campaign as they defeated Deportivo La Coruna 3-2 at the Riazor.

Villarreal ran away 3-1 winners over Athletic Bilbao at the Madrigal and are currently lying third in the table behind Barcelona and Real Madrid, while their vanquished Basque opponents are 13th in the standings.

Rayo Vallecano registered their first win of the season against Las Palmas courtesy of a 42nd minute goal from Javi Guerra.

Barcelona continued their winning run in the league as they grabbed all three points against Levante at the Camp Nou. Luis Enrique started an experimental side as he rested the likes of Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta and Jordi Alba amongst others and gave a chance to youngsters like Sandro Ramirez and Gerard Gumbau. The Catalans were comfortable 4-1 winners as Lionel Messi scored a brace, while Neymar and Marc Bartra grabbed the other two goals.

A 42nd minute goal from Mauro Icardi was enough to help Inter Milan to a narrow 1-0 win over Chievo Verona. It was Roberto Mancini’s side’s fourth successive win of the 2015/16 season and sees them occupy top of the standings as they attempt a return to the Champions League after missing out on European competitions all together, having finished eighth last term. The Nerazzurri have scored five goals and have conceded only once – against Frosinone – thus far.

In a first half that saw three goals, Roma went into the break against Sassuolo 2-1 down; Gregoire Defrel and Matteo Politano were on the scoresheet for the visitors at the Stadio Olimpico, while the legendary Francisco Totti scored Roma’s goal. It was a historic goal for the life-long Roma supporter as he reached the landmark of 300 goals for his beloved club.

Post the break, Chelsea loanee Mohamed Salah struck a thunderous volleyed strike to bring the scores level in the 49th minute, but Rudi Garcia’s men couldn’t grab the winner in the remaining 40 minutes of the match and dropped two points in the title race.

The game between Atalanta and Hellas Verona went down to the wire and saw goals late in the game. Maximiliano Moralez gave Atalanta a 1-0 lead one minute from the end of normal time in the second half for what looked like a winner, but Eros Pisano struck in the seventh minute of extra time to clinch a point for the visitors.

Bologna ran 1-0 winners against newly promoted Frosinone and moved to 17th as a consequence.

Reigning Italian champions Juventus continued their resurgence in form and followed up their midweek win over Manchester City with a 2-0 win over Genoa to register their first league victory of the season and moved to 13th as a result.

A Fabio Quagliarela double gave Torino 2-0 win against Sampdoria, which moved the Turin giants to second behind Inter, while the Genoese outfit are now seventh.

Khouma Babacar’s first half strike was enough to help Fiorentina to a narrow 1-0 win against Carpi.

Gonzalo Higuain struck a brace and Allan Loureiro, Lorenzo Insigne, and Manolo Gabbiadini struck once each to help Napoli hammer Lazio 5-0 that moved the Partenopei to 11th with their first win of the season. Meanwhile Lazio are now tenth, having won twice and lost as many times from their first four games.

Bundesliga Week 5 Soccer Recap 2015

bundesliga soccer week 5 recap fc koln vs borussia 2015bundesliga soccer week 5 recap fc koln vs borussia 2015The fifth week of the 2015/16 Bundesliga season started with Mainz’s 3-1 win over provincial outfit Hoffenheim. All three of Mainz’s goals came from Yunus Malli and lifted the side to seventh in the standings, whereas fourth defeat in five games has left Hoffenheim dangerously close to the relegation zone.

On Saturday, 1. FC Koln inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Borussia Monchengladbach; and a fifth successive league defeat in as many games had wider repercussions on the Foals as manager Lucien Favre resigned after four and a half years at the club during which he guided them to the top flight and a spot in the Champions League last season.

Hamburg and Eintracht Frankfurt played out a scoreless draw that sees the former occupy tenth spot in the table, while the latter lie eighth.

A brace from Bas Dost saw VfL Wolfsburg grab a 2-0 win at home over Hertha Berlin that sees the Wolves move to third in the table behind Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich with three wins and two draws from their first five matches. Hertha Berlin are now 11th.

Bayern Munich acquired two players from Juventus in the summer – Arturo Vidal and Kingsley Coman – and both were on the scoresheet – and so was Sebastian Rode – to help the Bavarian giants to their fifth successive league win of the ongoing campaign. Their vanquished rivals were the newly promoted Darmstadt and the defeat was incidentally their first of the season after three draws and a solitary win from their first five games in the German top flight football.

Another promoted side, Ingolstadt, registered their third win of the season as they defeated Werder Bremen courtesy of a Moritz Hartmann penalty in the 93rd minute of the game. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side moved to sixth in the table as a consequence.

A Leroy Sane strike in the 53rd minute of the match was enough to see Schalke get a 1-0 win over VfB Stuttgart and the win moved the Royal Blues to fourth in the league standings with three wins and a solitary draw from their first five fixtures of the season. They have acquired ten points and are five adrift of the BVB and Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich.

Alexander Esswein grabbed a goal in the 29th minute and Paul Verhaegh converted from the spot three minutes later to help Augsburg to a 2-0 win over Hannover 96. It was a first win for Augsburg – the club qualified for the Europa League last season – this season and they moved to 14th in the table, meanwhile, Hannover are now 16th.

Borussia Dortmund have continued their marauding run in the league under new boss Thomas Tuchel and hammered fellow contender for a spot in the Champions League, Bayer Leverkusen, a 3-0 defeat courtesy of strikes from Jonas Hofmann, Shinji Kagawa and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The win keeps BVB top of the table with 15 points from five games – same as Bayern Munich but the Rhine outfit are ahead on goal difference.

Analysing Bundesliga Teams in Soccer’s Champions League

0

analysing bundesliga teams champions league wolfsburg soccer 2015The German teams enjoyed a good start to their 2015/16 Champions League campaign as three of their four sides started with an opening round win, while the fourth carried their poor domestic form into Europe and were demolished by their Spanish rivals.

Wolfsburg

The Lower Saxony outfit marked their return to the Champions League after a five year absence with a 1-0 win over Russian Premier League giants CSKA Moscow courtesy of a strike from summer signing Julian Draxler. The German side, who enjoyed a spectacular Bundesliga campaign last season as they went on to finish second behind Bayern Munich and won their first ever DFB Pokal, saw the departure of their talismanic midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, but his replacement, Draxler, looked completely at ease as he dictated proceedings from his no 10 role to help the Wolves get their European journey off to a winning start.

Bayer Leverkusen

Roger Schmidt’s side started their Champions League campaign with a comfortable 4-1 win over BATE Borisov courtesy of goal each from Admir Mehmedi and Javier Hernandez, and a brace from Turkey international Hakan Calhanoglu. The German side started their campaign in an emphatic fashion and they will look to continue their form in their remaining games as they have reigning Spanish and European champions Barcelona as well as Serie A high flyers Roma in their group. Schmidt has earned plaudits for his side’s displays in the Bundesliga and they can be expected to cause problems for their group rivals.

Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola’s men faced a tight defensive unit against Olympiacos and went into the break with the scores tied at 0-0. Thomas Muller broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute of the match courtesy of a glorious long range effort that evaded the Olympiacos goalkeeper and nestled into the net. Mario Gotze doubled the lead in the 89th minute of the game and a late penalty converted by Muller ensured all three points for the reigning German champions. The Bavarian giants have Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb in their group and it is hard not to see them topping the group. The Allianz Arena residents have added the likes of Douglas Costa and Arturo Vidal to their side in the summer and the duo have added more dimensions to the side as they look to do better than last two season’s semi-finals exit from the elite European competition this season.

Borussia Monchengladbach

Lucien Favre’s side have endured a torrid start to their Bundesliga campaign, as last season’s fourth placed finishers have lost all four of their games so far to lie rock-bottom in the league standings. Their poor sequence of results continued in Europe as they were taken apart 3-0 by Unai Emery’s reigning Europa League champions Sevilla. The Germans conceded three penalties against the Spanish opposition, two of which were converted by Kevin Gameiro and Ever Banega while the Frenchman missed the other. In a group comprising of Manchester City and Juventus, the Foals need to find their form, and soon.

President Kanye West 2020 & Morena Baccarin Ben McKenzie Baby Drama

president kanye west 2020 gossipAt the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West once again took things to another level, when he announced that he would be running for president in 2020. Since then, people have spoken both positively and negatively about Kanye’s presidential candidacy announcement – and the idea of having Kim as first lady.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair magazine Kanye confirmed his intentions of running for president by replying “Oh, definitely,” when asked if he was still planning to run in 2020.

Surprisingly, he went on to admit that he has “a lot of research to do” and “a lot of growing up to do” before he kicks off his campaign.

Later in the interview, Kanye was asked about his feelings on the public’s perception of him, in which he said, “As I said that [presidential announcement], it was like, ‘Wait a second, we would really be into that, because actually if you think about it, he’s extremely thoughtful. Every time he’s ever gotten in trouble, he was really jumping in front of a bullet for someone else. He’s probably the most honest celebrity that we have.’”

Although he does admit that a few years ago the world did have a “We don’t like Kanye” phase.

The 38-year-old father continued discussing his potential presidency, saying he is not running “because [he] thought it would be fun].” Explaining, “It wasn’t like. Oh let’s go rent some jet skis in Hawaii. No, the exact opposite. I sit in clubs and I’m like, Wow, I’ve got five years before I go and run for office and I’ve got a lot of research to do, I’ve got a lot of growing up to do. My dad has two Masters degrees. My mom has a PhD, she used to work at Operation PUSH. Somehow the more and more creative I get, the closer and closer I get to who I was as a child.”

Despite his announcement, Kanye ensures the public he is “not a politician,” and just wants “everyone to win.”

While Donald Trump has given this election plenty of excitement and controversy, something tells me we are in for an even bigger show come 2020.

morena baccarin baby with ben mckenzie over austin chick 2015 gossipThis week was definitely one to remember for fans of The OC.

Earlier this week, news broke that Ben McKenzie, who played Ryan Atwood in the teen drama, is expecting a baby with his girl-friend and Gotham co-star Morena Baccarin.

Morena’s, 36, rep confirmed to E! News that she is in fact pregnant with Ben’s baby.

Morena was out with McKenzie, 37, on Sunday at Fox’s 2015 Emmy Awards after-party, however she was able to hide her growing baby bump in a flowing red Reem Acra lace gown.

This is a big surprise, considering that the couple only became public a little over a week ago.

Interestingly enough, Morena guest starred on season 3 of The OC, but did not interact with Ben’s character.

Needless to say, OC fans are rejoicing as this means both Ben and Adam (aka Seth and Ryan) are entering fatherhood at relatively the same time, because actor Adam Brody also had some big news for fans today.

It was announced earlier today that Adam’s wife Leighton Meester gave birth to their first child together. Therefore, OC fans couldn’t help but reminisce about the two actors’ bromance on the popular TV show.

Morena’s estranged husband Austin Chick is claiming that she’s rubbing his face regarding her relationship with McKenzie. Chick claims that at one point he had come home to find Ben clean and fresh faced showered playing with his son.

The two have been involved in a custody battle over their one year old son. Chick says the boy is in a confusing, unhealthy environment, pointing to an incident in August — 2 months after he filed for divorce — saying he came home to get his stuff and found Ben “had just taken a shower and he was playing with my son.”

Chick says Morena has told him she’s 3 1/2 months pregnant, and he says in the legal docs, “This places the moment of conception right in the first week of June, 2015, the time she was telling me she wanted to work on our marriage and well before we stopped sharing a bed.”

In previous legal docs, Morena has claimed they were already talking about separating in March.

Fantasy Football: More Players to Avoid in Week 3

fantasy football players to avoid matthew stafford 2015 nflThe New York Giants walloped the Washington Redskins to kick off Week 3, and I hope you all started Eli Manning, especially those of you who have Drew Brees sitting on your bench now (by the way, he’s injured, so, you know, don’t play him).

In the spirit of benching players, here’s a few more guys to avoid playing in your league or on Draft Kings:

Matthew Stafford: Stafford isn’t coming into this game at 100 percent with various alignments, but that didn’t stop him from a solid Week 2 performance against the Minnesota Vikings by relying on Calvin Johnson. Hoping that he’ll pull it out in Week 3 isn’t the best option, however.

The Denver Broncos defense has been a menace for QBs so far, allowing only 308 passing yards, four interceptions, and no touchdowns to Joe Flacco and Alex Smith combined over the first two weeks. The Broncos have been absolutely fantastic under Wade Philips so far, getting to the quarterback, disrupting the run, and shutting down receivers.

Stafford is still a good fantasy QB for the future, but this just isn’t his week.

Brandin Cooks: This extends to basically all New Orleans Saints players. Drew Brees is out, Cooks is banged up, and the team as a whole looks lost on the field. As if that weren’t bad enough, Cooks will have to lineup across from Josh Norman who has been playing at the top of his game this season. In fact, Norman limited Jacksonville Jaguars’ Allen Robinson and Houston Texans’ DeAndre Hopkins to seven combined fantasy points—Robinson put up over 40 alone in ESPN leagues this past week.

Cooks only has 111 yards so far this season despite a lot of hype coming in, and until we know either how well Luke McCown will play or how Brees looks upon return, it’s probably better to keep him out the game.
