Jose Mourinho once again proves why he is still one of the best tactician in world football. In the highly anticipated clash at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Chelsea defeated the in-form Manchester United, thereby breaking their momentum in the race for top four of the Premier League.

In the last five years, Louis van Gaal has faced his former assistant’s teams thrice, but the Dutch manager has never come out of the stadium with a win. Despite a good performance at the league leader’s home ground, Man United couldn’t add more points to their tally at the weekend. Eden Hazard’s 38th minute strike separated the two sides and the score after referee’s final whistle was 1 – 0 in favor of the Blues. Bet365 offered the odds 8/11 in case of a Chelsea win, predicting the West Londoners win. The Chelsea boss heaped praise on all his players for the fantastic performance.

“The team were fantastic. I’m the one that knows how fantastic they were because the game was exactly what we wanted. When you manage to play the game you want to play, it’s fantastic. The players were magnificent, on top of that Eden had that magic the top players have, especially in big matches,” Mourinho said post-match.

“Obviously Hazard was fundamental for us but Cahill made an amazing block on Falcao, John Terry was amazing, the keeper was there for us all the time, Azpilicueta was for me the best player on the pitch and Ivanovic was fantastic.

“Matic worked like an animal, Zouma put Fellaini out of the game, our number 11 [Drogba] was another animal, fighting against two kids young enough to be his sons. Hazard was what you know, Oscar worked fantastically well, Ramires came in and gave us what we needed, Mikel came in for two minutes and held the ball.”

Chelsea are now ten points ahead of their closest challengers Arsenal. They need eight more points to lift their second silverware of the season, their fifth English league title.

The reigning English champions earned three points against Sam Allardyce’s West Ham United. The game ended 2 – 0, but this result came at a cost. David Silva was stretchered off the pitch in the second half after suffering an injury to his face. The Spaniard has easily been the best player at City this season and the next five matches without his services can even cost them a place in the Champions League next season.

spurs beat newcastle premier league 2015

Spurs won 3 – 1 at Newcastle pushing them above Southampton, who lost 2 – 1 at Stoke City. Stoke weren’t the favorites and Bet365 offered 11/5 in case of a Saints’ loss. Hence it was a big upset and would have reaped good return for whoever betted against Ronald Koeman’s men.

QPR wasn’t involved in this game week and they are currently 19th on the league table with 26 points after 33 games. Burnley lost 1 – 0 to Roberto Martinez’s Everton keeping them at the foot of the table. It is still time for them to revive themselves and fight for the remainder of the season. Leicester City have looked impressive over the last few weeks and on Saturday they defeated Garry Monk’s Swansea City 2 – 0 in an attempt to climb out of the relegation pit. With five games to go, the matches will get more exciting.

Each team has now played 29 matches in the German league. 4 more points and Pep Guardiola’s team will retain the German crown. Their nearest competitors VFL Wolfsburg are twelve points behind on the Bundesliga table.

At the weekend, Bayern Munich picked up three more points against the eighth place Hoffenheim. The Bavarians won 2 – 0 with Rode getting on the score sheet in the first half. Right before the referee’s final whistle, Beck placed the ball in the back of his own net. It has been a great week for the German giants as they came back from the 3 – 1 deficit against Porto in the Champions League. Bayern absolutely hammered the visitors and won the second leg of the quarter-finals 6 – 1 at the Allianz Arena. Guardiola’s team are very much in contention to win the treble.

Kevin de Bryune saved a point for Wolfsburg with a 78th minute equalizer against Schalke. The match ended 1 – 1 at Wolfsburg. The second placed team will feature in next season’s Champions League, but major teams in Europe will attempt to raid them for their star players.

Bayer Leverkusen won in style against Hannover on Saturday and now they’ve overtaken Monchengladbach to climb up to the third spot on the Bundesliga table. Stefan Kiessling, Papadopoulos contributed in the 4 – 0 thrashing of Hannover at the Bay Arena. They are tied with Monchengladbach when it comes to points tally but they are ahead on goal difference. Borussia Monchengladbach were held to a goalless draw by Frankfurt on Friday. On Sunday 26th April, Monchengladbach entertain the high-flying Wolfsburg, while Leverkusen travel to Cologne.

borussia dortmund beats paderborn soccer 2015

Borussia Dortmund moved up to the top half of the table with a win over Paderborn. Goals from Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang and Kagawa in the second half allowed Dortmund to win 3 – 0 on Saturday. Last week, Jurgen Klopp announced that he’ll leave the club at the end of the season. The 47-year-old has claimed that he isn’t the perfect person for the job at the moment.

jurgen klopp leaving bundesliga soccer club 2015

“I definitely believe this is completely the right decision. Sometimes big heads must roll and today it was mine. There was never any rift with the team,” said the Dortmund boss.

“You can imagine how unbelievably tough this is to leave behind something as brilliant as this. It’s extremely difficult to say it, but we’re professionals and you have to make a decision. I believe the decision is absolutely correct. This club deserves to be coached by someone who is 100 per cent the right person for the job, and a decision had to be made.

“No-one needs to be grateful to me. It‘s been a fairy-tale journey. Both sides have invested so much. I will always support this extraordinary club.”

The next set of fixtures are going to be emotional for the players, fans and the Dortmund boss himself.

Stuttgart and Hamburg didn’t do much to change their position at the bottom. Hamburg lost to Werder Bremen 1 – 0, while Stuttgart lost 2 – 1 to Augsburg. There is still time for them to pick themselves up and aim for the finish line with their fastest pair of shoes.

Canucks Facing Elimination Against Flames: 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Vancouver Canucks will face elimination on Thursday night when game five of their opening round series against the Calgary Flames takes place in the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. The Flames set themselves up for victory in the series following very strong play in their home rink.

Game three saw Calgary break a bit of a scoring slump as the Flames tallied four goals from four different players. In game four, Vancouver held Calgary off the score sheet in the final two periods however the Flames made three goals from the first period stand up, including one from youngster Sam Bennett.

The star of the series so far has been Calgary goaltender Jonas Hiller. The Swiss netminder entered the 2015 playoffs with some experience to draw on as he had previously appeared in 26 playoff games, all with the Anaheim Ducks. But entering the 2015 playoffs, Hiller had an even record of 12-12 in the post-season, a record that he has improved on thus far in the series against Calgary. That is largely thanks to a 93.8 save percentage and a corresponding goals against average of just 1.79.

jonas hiller star goalie flames for 2015 stanley cup playoffs nhl

But the story heading into game five is not so much about how well Calgary have played to put themselves into the position they are in. The Vancouver Canucks, as any hockey fan in the lower mainland of British Columbia painfully knows, have not enjoyed any kind of playoff success since winning game five of the 2011 Stanley Cup championship series. Game six of that series went Boston’s way, game seven did too, the Los Angeles Kings nearly swept the top-seeded Canucks in 2012, and the Sharks did sweep the higher-seeded Canucks in 2013.

Now the Vancouver are in danger of going out in the first round again as a potential changing of the guard looms in western Canada. Vancouver have been the best team in those parts for several years but Calgary – and Edmonton – both appear to have better futures now.

Down 3-1 in the series, Vancouver are not without hope. Plenty of teams have come back from 3-1 down to win in the Stanley Cup playoffs and Vancouver, playing from home in game five, could turn things around. A win from Vancouver on Thursday night in front of their home audience would put a lot of pressure on Calgary in game six. A potential game seven would come from Vancouver again and that would give the Canucks a breathe of hope.

alex burrows out of play for flames stanley cup playoffs 2015

However the Canucks will not have Alex Burrows in any game remaining in their Calgary series due to what Willie Desjardins, Vancouver’s coach, called “kind of a comfort thing.”

The explanation for not playing Burrows is kind of weird, especially heading into a must-win game. Usually in playoff hockey you, kind of, challenge players to play through injuries that are not career threatening.

In fact, you have to wonder if the “comfort thing” is little more than a problem with Desjardins grinding his teeth at Burrows too much. The forward, arguably a healthy scratch, may be receiving time off due to poor play so far in the series. He has just two assists, no goals, and a whopping 21 penalties in minutes.

Barring a change in play from the Canucks that actually play, Burrows could find himself quite comfortable soon. If the Canucks don’t win game five then look for them on some sunny beaches or a local golf course. With Calgary overachieving and possessing some young talent and with Edmonton holding the option to draft Connor McDavid, don’t be surprised if Vancouver’s Sedin-twin-era cup chances end quite soon.

Alexander Zverev: Rising Tennis Star Spotlight

0

alexander zverev rising tennis stars series images 2015

Alexander Zverev, currently ranked 118th in the world, may not be a household name for tennis fans that only follow the Grand Slam tournaments. However those that follow tennis more broadly know that the German, who just turned 18-years old on April 20th, is a player that may be destined for the top. The younger brother of Mischa Zverev and the son of a former professional, Alexander may be the best tennis player that the more casual tennis fans have yet to hear about.

For those wondering who the next big star might be on tour, we’ll introduce Zverev now.

The Hamburg native, who towers at 6’6″, enjoyed a successful junior career that included a title at the Australian Open in 2014. In ATP level events, Zverev, at time of writing, is not very experienced and he is just 5-11 in 250-level events or higher. However even just five career wins is not that bad of a total for a player who is barely 18 years old. With his current ranking of World No. 118 (April 20th, 2015 rankings), it’s interesting to compare Zverev’s age/ranking correlation to the age/ranking correlation of proven great players.

Novak Djokovic for example, the current World No. 1, makes for an interesting comparison. The day after the Serb turned 18-years old about ten years ago he had an impressive ranking as well. However Zverev’s current ranking is higher than what Djokovic’s was the day after the Serb turned 18. Back on May 23rd, 2005, Djokovic was ranked 153rd in the world – a full 35 spots below what Zverev is ranked now.

roger federer wtih alexander zverev

Roger Federer, the current World No. 2, is another interesting player to compare Zverev to. The Swiss Maestro turned 18-years old on August 8th, 1999 and at that time he was ranked 106th in the world, a shade better than Zverev.

That the German teenager has achieved an impressive ranking for an 18-year old is definitely a factor worthy of consideration when looking ahead at future stars. Zverev, in the years ahead, could definitely challenge for the top spot on tour and he’s already given some proven players a bit of trouble.

Grigor Dimitrov, for example, is a player with ambitions of challenging for the World No. 1 ranking. Currently 23-years old, Dimitrov has not spent that much time in the Top Ten yet although he is a dangerous player in whatever event he enters. Zverev, playing in Basel last season, dropped a match to Dimitrov however the match did not go the Bulgarian’s way at all points. Zverev took the second set off of the then World No. 11 before losing in three.

alexander zverev top man on tennis courts 2015

To date, Zverev’s only significant run in a tournament came in an event that was hosted in his own city. Playing in ATP Hamburg, a 500-series event, Zverev won his quarter of the 2014 draw at the expense of a former Top Ten player in Mikhail Youzhny. Furthermore, the Hamburg native also defeated a trio of established ATP veterans, namely Robin Haase, Santiago Giraldo, and Tobias Kamke.

Zverev, although he has a career match-win in the Masters Series, has yet to make an appearance in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. That could be just one reason why a lot of casual tennis fans may not know he is yet as the Grand Slam events are where players are best able to make names for themselves. But, provided that Zverev tallies a few more wins on the tour-level in the weeks ahead, he could be in Grand Slams as early as this summer. You never really know when the next phenom is going to burst on scene and perhaps Zverev will make headlines for himself in the months ahead.

Yet we can’t forget that growing pains are common for the young players so perhaps there are some in the future for the 18-year old German. What could also be pointed out with Zverev is that his height could pose more of a problem than an asset when it comes to succeeding on the ATP Tour.

alexander zverev rising tennis star 2015

Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal are the players that have won multiple Slams since the start of the 2010 season and they are all below 6’3″. Players that are as tall as Zverev do win Slams here and there and both Marin Cilic and Juan Martin del Potro are cases in point. However the taller players are also injury-prone as both Cilic and Delpo, following their respective Grand Slam wins, spent months recovering from injury not long after.

In conclusion, I don’t think Zverev will become the World No. 1 in the years ahead however I do think he will be a player in the mix. He is one of the best players that many tennis fans outside of Germany may not have heard of yet.

Celebrity Gossip Roundup: Sherri Shepherd A Motha Again, Black Chyna Shading On Kylie Jenner

The rumor mill is constantly turning and today Sherri Shepherd learns she can’t abandon her baby, while Black Chyna throws some shade Kylie Jenner‘s way.

Chris Brown Has a Battle on His Hands

Chris Brown is obviously ecstatic to be a father and really takes pride in the fact that his daughter Royalty exists but he is not the only one who is in love with the little girl.

According to what looks to be social media beef, King Ba (yes that is what he tells people to call him) Nia Guzman’s boyfriend, Brown’s baby momma, is claiming Royalty as his own. He has posted pictures on his Instagram account showing him playing with the toddler and even got a new tattoo of a crown and the name Nia on his wrist.

His response seems to be a jab at Chris Brown’s pictures he posted last week of himself and HIS daughter clearing having a moment.

This is all kinds of messed up. KB is wrong. If he is there because he is with Royalty’s mom that’s one thing, but why does he have to rub it in Brown’s face? It would be different if was an absent father but Chris is there (well from what it seems). Just let the man be a dad to his daughter and you be the dick to her momma.

sherrie shepherd tries to abandon baby but judge makes her claim it 2015 gossip

Sherri Shepherd Says, “I Aint the Momma”

Oh but Sherri Shepherd, you are in deed the mother. In a totally crazy a somewhat unbelievable story, Shepherd claimed that her soon to be ex husband “tricked” her into have a baby via a surrogate. When the marriage went south, she didn’t want to have anything to do with the whole baby thing.  It even went to court to determine the maternity.

Well, a judge has officially ruled that she is to be listed as the child’s mother (she signed the birth certificate) which means that if her husband is the one caring for her, she has to pay child support.

Lamar Sally, her estranged husband has been in a court battle with Shepherd since the baby girl’s birth back in August and according to Sherri, it is all about the money honey.

Because she is claiming to be tricked into “having” the baby, she feels no responsibility or connection at all.

Regardless  of what she is saying the case to be, they will meet in front of a judge in L.A. to determine the child support situation.

I’ve never been a fan of Shepherds as she always runs to her ‘God’ whenever she doesn’t have an answer, and the fact that she claims she loves her gay friends but feel that they’re not good enough to be able to marry just proves her hypocrisy. Sadly, this latest instance, just shows this woman’s true colors and I can’t wait for her face to stop appearing in the press, tv and movies. Just go away Sherri, please and raise that son of yours rather than running around like this.

Black Chyna throws more shade at Kylie Jenner

With all the shade these superstars throw at each other, I am sure they are able to keep nice and cool during the summer.

Blac Chyna, of course, has something so say about the whole #kyliejennerchallenge… you know the stupid ass thing that girls are doing to get plump looking lips. Ugh, people, if you are going to try to look like someone famous,  at least let the feature you are coveting be natural.

Anyway, Tyga, Blac Chyna’s baby daddy and Kylie’s current boo (supposedly) hasn’t had too much to say about the two beefing but the former stripper sure does.  She posted on her Instagram a scary looking picture (well to me) of herself with giant red wax lips making fun of Jenner with a caption letting people know that the toy lips will soon be available on her website.

Jenner, not one to have shade thrown at her, posted a picture of herself behind the wheel of her Range Rover with the car’s logo prominently displayed with the caption “currently.”

While that was cute and I get what she was trying to communicate (kind of) Blac Chyna had the last laugh when she posted an ass shot of herself with the caption “permanently.”

Oh famous women and their going back and forth over stupid shit. They really know how to show the rest of us how to be ladies.

Beyoncé Sued by Back Up Singer Over Her “XO” song

When you are two of the most influential and powerful people in the world, folks will always target you to capitalize on who you are.

Beyoncé is at the center of a new lawsuit that was filed over six months ago which claims she copied the song or the idea for the song “XO.” Ahmad Javon Lane, who works as a back up singer (not hers though) claims that Beyoncé “stole” a song that he gave to one of her back up singers Chrissy Collins.

ahmad javon lane suing beyonce for xo copyright 2015 gossip

Back in November 2014, Lane filed a federal lawsuit against both her and her labels. He feels that Collins gave the track to Bey and she thought so highly of it, she just plain stole it! And then performed it live just to rub it in his face. Yeah right!

Who does this guy really think he is? I heard his song and trust and believe that it sounds nothing like Beyoncé’s final product. In fact, he talks about having sex and wanting to fuck and she is talking about love. The melodies are different, the pace is different and it’s all just… different.

He is demanding $3 million. Why do people always try to get on through scandal instead of through talent?

Bey’s lawyers are fighting it and asking for it to be dismissed because as I mentioned earlier, the songs sound nothing alike. Last week, she and her lawyers responded calling it “vague and ill-found”. She even goes further to point out that Lane never clarified what the actual similarities are in both tracks even when her lawyers reached out to him. They also say that since the letters “XO” can’t be copyrighted, his claims are unfounded and hope the judge throws it all out. You know how the court system in this country works and how bad the copyright laws are so we’ll see in another six months to a year what happens next.

Perfect Time To End Deflategate

deflategate still not resolved as patriots go to white house 2015

When would it be a good time to end the most mocked investigation in the history of pro sports known as Deflategate? It appears there is no good time for the conclusion of this embarrassing incident. It has been forever since the AFC Championship Game between the Patriots and Colts in which all those footballs were found to be under inflated. The NFL clearly didn’t want to know what really happened before the Super Bowl was played. That would have been terrible timing. The League couldn’t afford to have a team in the Super Bowl that just cheated in the game that propelled them to the most watched event of the year.

Now it appears that the NFL would not like the findings announced this week as it would put a damper on the champions’ White House visit. This is ridiculous. It’s not like the White House has never been a part of a scandal. I will assure you that deflating a few pigskins is nothing compared to what the politicians have done at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue over the years. Bill Clinton running through interns, Nixon getting off racist blasts recorded by the recording system he implemented himself, and Dick Cheney chiseling away at the Constitution on a daily basis are just a few of the scandals that come to mind. Deflategate is child’s play compared to the real pros that are running this country.

patriots owner robert kraft hanging on to roger goodell for deflategate 2015

After the Patriots have had their picture taken with POTUS and maybe even smoked a cigarette or two with Obama, there will be another event that the League doesn’t want marred by Deflategate. Roger Goodell doesn’t want to have to talk about the scandal as he puts on that fake smile and goes through numerous awkward hugs on draft night. The Commish wants the spotlight to show the positives of the NFL. He wants no negative news to ruin a big ratings night.

After the draft is over, there will be another reason the NFL does not want the findings of Ted Wells released. Memorial Day is in May so vacationers couldn’t bear this news. And of course Independence Day in July would be ruined if a team called the “Patriots” were announced as cheaters. Oh and I believe Andrew Luck’s birthday is in August and it would upset the Colts QB if it turns out that his team was the real villain in all this. There simply is no good time for this moronic investigation to come to a close. Tom Brady has not even been interviewed by Wells! Either Wells is incompetent or does not wish to finish this thing up. It has to be the latter and it has to be based on the wishes of the powers that be, namely Roger Goodell, allegedly.

tom brady not dealing with deflategate for white house obama visit 2015

If anyone thinks Pats fans are sweating this long wait, they are dead wrong. The delay has only emboldened Patriots fanatics. Many believe that not only will their team be exonerated of all wrongdoing, but that the Colts will be outed as the bad guy in this scandal. Oh and the Ravens could be part of the problem as well according to many chowderheads. It is a very common opinion that the Colts set the Patriots up to look like cheaters. Two months ago that would have seemed more ridiculous than the need for this investigation in the first place. But now, this theory has legs.

If that turns out to be the case, with the Patriots being victims in this Deflategate deal, the NFL will look awful. Everyone assumed from the start that the League was going to delay this thing as long as possible so the damage would be minimal. If the Pats were set up by the Colts, the delay makes the NFL and Goodell look like they have something to hide since so many fingers were pointed at the eventual Super Bowl Champs.

Many thought that Roger Goodell would lose his gig as NFL Commissioner after the Ray Rice video scandal. He somehow wormed his way out of that and held onto his gig. It would be hilarious if a silly thing like under inflated footballs ended the dictator’s run as head guy in the League. I hate to actively root for a man to lose his job, especially one that pays as well as dictator of the NFL, but I will make an exception in Goodell’s case. Anything that happens as a result of this never ending investigation is Goodell’s own fault. All he had to do was have someone come in a few days after the game in question and say the balls were fine after all, or set up a patsy for the fall. No one would have cared. Most NFL fans see this entire thing as just plain silly. It is nothing more than water cooler talk at this point, and if there were actual games going on, then it would be pushed to the backburner and forgotten in about a week.

As I have said before, I do not care if Deflategate ever has a conclusion. Ted Wells can draw a check for this farce of an investigation until he is dead for all I care. The only positive that could come out of this entire scandal is Roger Goodell losing his job, and sadly that is a real longshot. Since the NFL sees no good time to have the findings released, then I don’t either. Never is fine with me as well.

Maybe I will start a Kickstarter campaign to fund my own independent investigation of Deflategate. It might go viral and set me up with a few thousand dollars to get to the truth. That would be easy since I know the truth already. The New England Patriots beat the brakes off the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015. It would not have mattered if they played with Nerf footballs. They went on to win one of the best Super Bowls ever played two weeks later. Case closed, no further evidence needed.

Forgetting Edward Snowden

0

can edward snowden really be forgotten 2015

Has the US made Americans forget about Edward Snowden? For any country heavily invested in national security such as the United States, the country will benefit in making one of its most popular whistleblowers disappear from the public eye and mind. Snowden is either seen as a hero and a traitor in the eyes of the public ever since he divulged the National Security Administration’s domestic spying and surveillance programs such as PRISM, DISHFIRE and MYSTIC. But what concerns the government is the public’s view that Snowden is a hero which, in its point of view, is completely wrong and has made moves to correct it.

One such documentary film is the brilliant Citizenfour which shows exactly what Snowden was doing at the exact time the U.S. Government was trying to figure out who was leaking the documents that were exploding in the mainstream press.

edward snowden being pushed to forget by us 2015

“[I was] trained as a spy in the traditional sense of the word in that I lived and worked undercover overseas—pretending to work in a job that I’m not—and even being assigned a name that was not mine… in the most hostile and dangerous environments around the world. So when they say I’m a low-level systems administrator, that I don’t know what I’m talking about, I’d say it’s somewhat misleading…”

–Edward Snowden (NBC Interview, May 2014)

As per the previous statements, the US government’s approach was to downgrade his position thereby downgrading the enormity of his revelations thus dampening their impact. Get on with your lives folks, there’s nothing to see here. Getting spied on by your government is nothing to get concerned about. The next statements should refresh our memories on how big his allegations were and tells us how important he was to the agency.

“…I began to move from merely overseeing these systems to actively directing their use. Many people don’t understand that I was actually an analyst and I designated individuals and groups for targeting…I would sit down with the CIO of the CIA, the CTO of the CIA, the chiefs of all the technical branches. They would tell me their hardest technology problems, and it was my job to come up with a way to fix them…”

–Edward Snowden (The Guardian Interview, July 2014)

edward snowden forgotten in us but hero abroad 2015

“…The NSA has records—they have copies of emails right now to their Office of General Counsel, to their oversight and compliance folks from me raising concerns about the NSA’s interpretations of its legal authorities. I had raised these complaints not just officially in writing through email, but to my supervisors, to my colleagues, in more than one office. I did it in Fort Meade. I did it in Hawaii. And many, many of these individuals were shocked by these programs. They had never seen them themselves. And the ones who had, went, “You know, you’re right. … But if you say something about this, they’re going to destroy you…”

–Edward Snowden (NBC Interview, May 2014)

The last statements in the NBC interview is practically a movie in the making, which, if made and depending how it’s done, could raise Mr. Snowden’s hero status a bit further and make ordinary Americans more wary of government surveillance or actually shift the whole issue into the realm of fiction. We’re not supposed to believe everything in the movies, right? Enemy of the State, the Bourne Identity and all that stuff.

As per Edward Snowden in his recent interview with comedian John Oliver in Russia, he believes that the NSA should be busy spying on external threats instead of American citizens. One wrong move and an American citizen could take on Will Smith’s role in Enemy of the State. Also, with regards to the interview, it was a light-hearted but revealing conversation with John Oliver. It falls in line with the previous paragraph where the interview could either reveal the whole affair properly to the layman (who were shown to have been completely unaware of the whole NSA revelations nor were aware of who Snowden actually was) or further downgrade the whole affair through the use of humor. Whether the US has made Americans forget about Snowden depends on whether the media did properly made the people aware of him in the first place. The recent interview sure made John Oliver’s demographic aware though. As we stated, it’s in the best interest of the government to make everyone forget Mr. Snowden or file him in American minds under ‘unimportant’.

But it’s correct that the public should be wary that the government is actually watching and even listening to everything we say and do like Big Brother in George Orwell’s 1984. It’s actually 2015 but what makes the United States special is that it’s a shining beacon for democracy and free speech that we can say and do anything we want as long as it’s within the boundaries of the law, the constitution and what lies within the bounds of decency relative for every state even as far as ridiculing the president and satirizing the government. As long as we’re not doing anything wrong, like buying pressure cookers before a scheduled running event, everything should be okay, right?

It’s also correct for the state to watch out for threats externally and domestically, especially in this post-9/11-ongoing-ISIS era. Though the methods are questionable and even overreaching as pointed out by Mr. Snowden, (and intensely private as shown by Mr. Oliver) it may be too late for the US to change its approach due to the massive resources already invested in the name of national security. This also happens to be the time when it should matter as governments all over the world are concerned of their citizens packing up their bags and joining a group of homicidal thugs overseas or working to undermine those governments from within. We’re not justifying the US government’s approach here. We all want our privacy, we all want to be left alone from time to time doing private stuff not meant to harm anyone and is no one else’s business. People like Edward Snowden should be remembered because they remind us to at least be aware that someone’s “watching out for us” not to do anything stupid, and also be thankful the president’s name isn’t Kim or Xi.

justin long matt garrett in live free or die hard about media censorship 2015

Edward Snowden is currently granted political asylum in Russia as of last August 1, 2014 and has been residing there ever since. While he’s there, he’s currently out of sight and out of mind unless the media makes an effort in updating us. But you know what Justin Long’s character Matt Garrett in Live Free or Die Hard opinion was about the media. For those that don’t recall: “The news is completely manipulated. Everything you hear, every single day is designed by corporate media to do one thing only. To keep you living in fear.”

Aaron Hernandez Will Do Well In Prison Sheriff Says Of Manipulator

At this point it comes as no surprise that Aaron Hernandez adapted quickly to his eighteen months in jail by knowing how to be a master manipulator a sheriff has said. He goes further to state that the former New England Patriots star will easily adapt to prison life, where he’ll no doubt be treated as a celebrity by many inmates. Hernandez already proved his jailhouse mettle when he was allegedly involved in an altercation with an inmate.

The sheriff who had former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez in custody for more than 18 months said Tuesday that he’s a master manipulator and will probably do fine in prison now that he has been sentenced to life for murder.

Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson said Hernandez knows how to use his charm and manipulate better than anyone he has ever seen. He said Hernandez was generally affable and polite and would try to use those qualities to get what he wanted at the Bristol County House of Corrections.

“He would make every effort to get extra sandwiches,” Hodgson said. “He would just try to convince the officers to give him more than what they otherwise could get.”

Staff members were directed to treat Hernandez like any other inmate, Hodgson said.

Hernandez was convicted April 15 of the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee. He will ultimately end up at the maximum-security Souza-Baranowski state prison. A lawyer for Hernandez did not immediately return messages seeking comment on the sheriff’s remarks.

After the verdict was delivered, staff from Bristol County brought Hernandez to a state prison not far from Gillette Stadium, where Hernandez used to play football in front of tens of thousands of cheering fans.

There, he told them, “I’ll miss you guys, but they got it wrong,” Hodgson said. “He didn’t really have much of a change in his demeanor. He pretty much still had a swagger in his step.”

Hodgson said the 25-year-old Hernandez has an ability to compartmentalize things and lock out the negative.

“He doesn’t really look at it as jail,” Hodgson said. “It’s more like training camp.”

Hernandez got into trouble from time to time in jail in Bristol County. He was accused of threatening to kill a prison guard and his family, and he got into a fight with another inmate.

Asked how he thinks Hernandez will do in prison, Hodgson said he thought he’d be OK.

“He’ll probably do fine. He’ll be able to talk his way through everything,” Hodgson said, adding that disrespect is a “hot-button” issue for Hernandez. “If someone’s trying to outwardly and aggressively disrespect him, that could create a problem.”

Hodgson said he had many conversations with Hernandez about his father, who died unexpectedly when Hernandez was 16. Hernandez would tell him how his father commanded respect whenever he walked into a room.

”His father was a huge, huge influence in his life and really his anchor,” Hodgson said. “If you disrespected him, it’s like you disrespected his father.”

Liverpool, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Reading didn’t feature in the Premier League at the weekend and were involved in the semi-final round of the 2015 FA Cup. Arsenal were expected to reach their 19th FA Cup final and they didn’t falter, giving them an opportunity to end this season with a silverware.

The Gunners and Manchester United share the record for the most number of FA Cup trophies. After eliminating Louis van Gaal’s men earlier this season, Arsenal have now land in a very good opportunity to gain an upper hand over their rivals. The North Londoners faced the Championship side Reading FC on Saturday and the final score at Wembley was 2 – 1 in favor of Arsene Wenger’s men. Reading gave a tough fight to the English giants and they even took the match to extra time. The former Barcelona man Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring in the 39th minute to which Steve Clarke’s team replied in the second half. Arsenal’s first half lead was cancelled out by McCleary in the 54th minute.

The game remained finely poised until the referee blew his whistle at the end of normal time. The final blow to Reading’s hopes came in the second half of extra-time. The Chilean forward again came to the rescue of his team and netted in the 106th minute. The Emirates based outfit is expected to lift the trophy in May and end the season on a positive note.

Wenger’s men have had a brilliant run of form, while Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool slumped after signs of improvement last month. The Merseyside giants lost 2 – 1 to Villa, and that after giving away a 1 – 0 lead. Balotelli netted a goal but it was wrongly ruled offside by the referee. Although we can’t take anything from the fact that the Villa Park based team are a new team under the new manager.

The Brazilian midfielder Phillipe Coutinho drew first blood at the half-hour mark at Wembley on Sunday. Just six minutes later, Benteke, who has now revived his form, nullified Liverpool’s goal. In the 54th minute Fabian Delph gave Villa the lead. The 18-time English champions couldn’t come back from the set back and if they don’t make it back in top four by the end of this season, this campaign will be dubbed as a failure.

The former Spurs’ interim manager, Tim Sherwood deserves all the plaudits for Aston Villa’s turnaround after a pretty bad run in the league. If the Villans successfully avoid relegation and beat the favorites to clinch their eighth FA Cup trophy then it could be termed as a fairly good season for them.

Over the years we have witnessed the feats where underdogs beat all the odds and defeat the favorites. On May 30,  Aston Villa could do what Wigan Athletic did to Manchester City in the FA Cup final in 2013.

Canadiens vs Senators Game 4: 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators will meet from the Canadian capital city later this week. Many fans may be expecting game four of the series to be played on Tuesday night since the NHL playoffs usually follow a “gameday/day-off” pattern. However, even though the Sens and Canadiens played on Sunday, they will not meet until Wednesday as the Canadian Tire Center will host a One Republic concert on Tuesday night.

The extra day will likely prove academic by the time the series is over.

Montreal lead the best-of-series three games to nothing following three one-goal victories in games one, two, and three. The Ottawa Senators have not been losing by much however there’s something to be said about a team like the Canadiens that always has the goods in a close game.

Especially heartbreaking for Ottawa fans was game three. The Senators looked as though they were going to make a series of their first round match-up in the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. They lead the Montreal Canadiens and they lead late however Dale Weise, a right winger on Montreal , stung the Ottawa crowd with a goal with just over five minutes to play in regulation. The same player scored again in overtime to send the Ottawa faithful home disappointed.

Ottawa now face an 0-3 deficit in the series, a hole that very few teams have dug themselves out of. While the Senators won clutch games down the stretch of the regular season, comparisons between those games and the playoffs are perhaps a little faulty. Mainly, during the regular season you play the entire spectrum of teams, including the crummy ones. Beating a team as good as Montreal in four straight, two of which would come from the Bell Centre, is not impossible but quite improbable.

It could be that all the must-win games for the last two months of the regular season have finally caught up to the 2014/15 Senators. It could be that they have run out of gas.

But Montreal, in order to sweep, will need to win on the road again. Odds on game four actually favor Ottawa however they barely favor the Sens. Bet365, for example, have Ottawa priced as -115 favorites while Montreal come in at -105. By most accounts, game four appears to be a coin toss as far as the betting odds imply.

As stated, those looking to tune into the game Tuesday night are going to do a lot of channel flipping in vain. Game four goes Wednesday night at 7pm ET meaning the Sens could be the first team out of the 2015 playoffs.

The Calgary Flames, playing in their first post-season since 2009, took another step toward advancing to the second round of the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs on Sunday night. In front of a home audience, Calgary defeated the Vancouver Canucks to stake a 2-1 lead in their first round best-of-seven series.

The Flames opened the scoring about six and a half minutes into the first period when Brandon Bollig scored his first goal of the series. Vancouver would tie it up a short time later however T.J. Brodie had another for Calgary at the 15:02 mark of the first. There would be no scoring in the second period and that set the stage for a potentially tight third however Calgary would runaway with the game with goals from Sam Bennett and Sean Monahan. The final score in game three was 4-2 following a late goal from Jannik Hansen of Vancouver.

Fans of the Flames have to be feeling optimistic about their chances of making the second round now and not just due to the fact that Calgary lead Vancouver in the series. Before game three, there was very little offense out of the Flames with Kris Russell, a defenseman, posting two goals in the first two games. However game three saw Calgary receive offense from an array of skaters while goaltender Jonas Hill had to face just nineteen shots.

Game four, one that promises to be pivotal, will come from Calgary on Tuesday night as the Flames will look to put a strangehold on the series. Should the Flames win game four they would hold a 3-1 series lead and their outlook on making the second round would then be a fantastic one. However if Vancouver should find a way to victory in Calgary, then the Canucks would draw even heading home for game five. Vancouver would also host a seventh game, if necessary, so a great deal appears to be hinging on the outcome from Calgary on Tuesday night.

New and notes about the series includes a situation involving Alex Burrows. The Vancouver forward had received a late instigator penalty on Sunday, an infraction that could have carried a suspension. However Burrows will be eligible to play on Tuesday as NHL.com have reported he “will not be suspended.”

In other series involving Canadian-based teams, the Montreal Canadiens lead the Ottawa Senators 3-0. The Winnipeg Jets will be action tonight from Manitoba as they look to get back into their series with the Anaheim Ducks. At time of writing, Anaheim lead that series 2-0.

Champions League Quarter-Final First Leg [Day 2]: Bayern Munich in trouble

champions league day 2 bayern munich images 2015The German champions are in big trouble as the Portuguese club Porto is on the verge of knocking them out of the Champions League 2015. After the referee’s final whistle, the game at Estadio do Dragao ended 3 – 1 in favor of the hosts.

Porto 3 – 1 Bayern Munich

A very few would have betted against Bayern Munich win against Porto on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola’s side, which missed a lot of big names because of injury, was dominated by Porto and to add “injury to insult” Benatia returns back to the treatment table. Ricardo Quaresma opened the scoring in the 4th minute and just six minutes later he doubled it. The Spanish midfielder Thiago Alacantra gave hope to the former Barcelona manager by netting one at the half-hour mark. After the break Jackson Martinez pulled back the two goal cushion with a strike in the 65th minute.

The Bundesliga giants take back an away goal and a 2 – 0 win at the Allianz Arena won’t be a mountainous task for the Bavarians. Yet one shouldn’t forget that Porto are more than capable of beating world class teams and they have gone all the way two times in their history, the last time was almost a decade ago under the current Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

This tie seems to be done and dusted yet the beauty of this tournament is that the turnarounds can happen at any stage out of the blue.

luis suarez brings barcelona to win champions league 2015

Luis Suarez was at his absolute best as he scored two spectacular goals in the 3 – 1 over the Parisians. Lionel Messi fed the Brazilian skipper Neymar for the opener in the 18th minute. It stayed that way until the 67th minute, when the Uruguayan striker stepped up to show what he is capable of. The former Liverpool fan nutmegged David Luiz and dribbled past PSG defenders to a Messi-esque goal. The third goal came a few minutes later and Suarez again got the better of former Chelsea man, Luiz. Suarez again dribbled the ball across his feet to finish it in the top right corner.

Laurent Blanc’s men got the consolation goal but it was also scored by a Barcelona player. Jeremy Mathieu who came on for Rakitic in the 74th minute scored on the wrong end of the pitch a few minutes after his introduction.

The Catalonian giants take a massive advantage to the Camp Nou. Yet, the Parc-des-Princes based outfit will have Verrati and Ibrahimovic back for the second leg. It will be the return of the Swedish international to his former club and he certainly can amaze everyone on his day.
