The Swiss maestro Roger Federer continues advancing towards the 2015 Italian Open finals after defeating Tomas Berdych in two sets 6-3, 6-3. The match lastest barely over an hour, and Federer seemed to not even have broken a sweat as he cruised through easily.

Federer will play either Rafael Nadal or Stan Wawrinka in a blockbuster semi-final on Saturday at the Foro Italico. Most are anticipating him to play Rafi as that would be a very exciting match to see and then the winner would go on to play either Novak Djokovic or Kei Nishikori if they beat David Ferrer.

The Swiss trailed by an early break in the first set, but reeled off four straight games from 2-3 down to seal the opener. Federer then broke through decisively in the seventh game of the second set and captured the final two games for victory in 67 minutes, hitting 15 winners to 11 unforced errors.

It was Federer’s 14th win in 20 meetings with Berdych and his second victory over the Czech this season, having also prevailed when they met in the Indian Wells quarter-finals in March.

The 33-year-old Federer is looking to win this ATP World Tour Masters 1000 clay-court title for the first time in 15 appearances. He was runner-up in 2003 (l. to Felix Mantilla), 2006 (l. to Nadal) and 2013 (l. to Nadal).

The Basel native is a winner of 23 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crowns, with his last triumph coming in Shanghai (d. Simon) in October 2014. He was runner-up at the BNP Paribas Open (l. to Djokovic) in Indian Wells in March.

Top 10 Most Inspiring Athletes Ever

top 10 most inspiring athletes 2015 images

I’ve talked before about the meaningless of sports. That’s not an easy topic to dive into as a sports fan. It’s tough to think about all the hours spent on something I enjoy so much that ultimately is just fun and games. Sports are not life or death. That doesn’t mean sports can’t inspire us as a people though. Whether we are watching an athlete in our own family or just watching a special one from the comfort of our recliner, sports can make a difference in our lives. Wins and losses may not affect our life expectancy, bank accounts, or fix world hunger, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be moved by sports and the athletes involved.

There have been at least hundred or so athletes that have inspired me over the years. I might even be able to list up to 500 of these athletes. Some of them may have just been flashes in the pan, but I was inspired by maybe just a single performance. For the sake of the space provided here and your free reading time I have narrowed that list down to just the top ten most inspiring athletes to me personally.

michael irvin most inspiring athletes 2015

  1. I hated Michael Irvin when he was playing football. I didn’t care for his big mouth, his wild celebrations, and he happened to be on teams that I disliked already. The guy had plenty of trouble off the field to boot. After his career ended I started to warm up to him though. I would hear so many former teammates talk about how much they loved him. Guys like Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith were not just talking up a guy they used to play with. They were adamant that Irvin was the best teammate they ever had. He was not the greatest receiver ever, although he is a Hall of Famer, but he was the heart and soul of the teams he played on. He worked his ass off and inspired his team to follow his lead. Michael Irvin was not and is not perfect. He has his demons, but the guy is a leader of men.

joe montana most inspiring athletes 2015

  1. Joe Montana inspired me as a young football fan with the confidence he gave the teammates around him. They had no doubt that their leader would take them to win after win. He was a tough SOB that had to endure vicious hits unlike the softer NFL of today. As a 49ers fan, you never felt like your team was out of any game. Joe Montana is the guy that all quarterbacks are now measured by.

frankie edgar most inspiring athletes

  1. Frankie Edgar has had some of the best fights ever seen in the UFC. His comebacks are legendary. Getting knocked down and finding the will to get back up again and again is something to be admired. This man is a fighter, pure and simple. There is no give up in this man and everyone should be inspired by such an individual.

tom brady most inspiring athletes 2015

  1. Tom Brady was not supposed to end up as one of the two or three best NFL quarterbacks in history. He should have never made the Patriots roster as a sixth round draft choice. Whatever “it” is, this athlete had it and still has it. Winning a Super Bowl is not easy. Just ask Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, or Dan Fouts. Brady owns four Super Bowl rings and has been the main man on a Patriots offense that only had maybe one other future Hall of Famer helping him along the way in Randy Moss. Brady gets a lot of flack from me for his golden boy image now, but he was the ultimate underdog when he entered the NFL.

ronda rousey most inspiring athletes 2015

  1. Ronda Rousey has only been on my radar for a short time compared to others on this list, but in that short amount of time she has impressed me greatly. Many sports fans are always looking for the big man or woman on top of the mountain to get knocked down a notch. I like to see dominance though and Rousey exemplifies that. Her work ethic and skill have made her a household name. She has perfected her art and is indeed the most dangerous unarmed woman in the world. She is an inspiration to me and also to many others who have come to be fans of the UFC based on her popularity.

jerry rice most inspiring athletes 2015

  1. Jerry Rice’s picture should be in the dictionary beside the word “professional.” He didn’t come out of the womb as the greatest receiver ever. The college he attended was not a big time football school. He made his own way. Nothing was handed to him, except those bricks he laid as a kid helping his dad with his job. Jerry Rice outworked, out prepared, and out willed opponents. I will always be inspired by Rice’s constant pursuit of excellence, even after he was the best ever.

barry sanders most inspiring athletes 2015

  1. As opposed to the brash Michael Irvin I had at number ten, Barry Sanders was the humblest superstar I have ever witnessed. As a running back, he was a gridiron artist. He didn’t have to showboat for people to notice him. Anyone who couldn’t see the greatness that was Barry Sanders simply didn’t know anything about sports.

muhammad ali most inspiring athletes 2015

  1. Muhammad Ali comes in at number three on my most inspiring athletes check list. This is no shocker as the guy is one of the greatest athletes ever. He fought in so many epic fights, sometimes as the underdog and sometimes as the champ. His fights were inspiring as well as his plight out of the ring when he was stripped of his world title when he refused to go to Vietnam. At the time I’m sure he was considered a coward by many. That has all changed now of course, and if more people had taken such a courageous stand back then, there is no telling how many lives could have been saved.

team hoyt rick and dick most inspiring athletes 2015

  1. Team Hoyt consisting of Rick and Dick Hoyt. This father and son team have competed in over a thousand endurance events including Ironman Triathlons and marathons. Rick has cerebral palsy, so his father pushes, pulls, and carries his son through these grueling events. Whenever I hear others complain or I start having negative negative thoughts, I try to think of guys like Dick Hoyt. This man enters races that most of us don’t even contemplate, and he does them while taking the weight of his kid with him. Next time you want to complain about the weather, your job, or your “tough” life, take a look at this man who shares his experience of racing with his child who is unable to join him under his own power. This duo has been an inspiration to people for over 37 years.  Dick Hoyt deserves the moniker of “athlete” as much as anyone on this list.

michael jordan most inspiring athlete ever 2015

  1. Michael Jordan is the greatest athlete I have ever had the pleasure of watching perform. He inspired me along with millions of others as he dominated the NBA for years. Sure he had more talent than most others in his game, but his will to win and work ethic was something to behold. It wasn’t enough for him to beat the competition. It was necessary for them to know they were being dominated and were in fact inferior to #23. There were some amazing superstars of the NBA that never got a title because they happened to be in their prime at the same time MJ was around. Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, and Karl Malone are a few of the victims of Jordan’s greatness.

Seeing the levels that a human being could reach through hard work, determination, a vicious competitive nature, and natural talent made me realize what we are capable of doing as human beings. Michael Jordan didn’t just score a bunch of points and posterize guys. He painted a portrait of basketball beauty that lasted over a decade. Everyone can’t be what Jordan was, but his efforts showed that we all can rise higher than where we start out.

Will Roger Goodell Find Tom Brady Very Appealing?

roger goodell hearing appeal of tom brady on deflategate 2015

As expected, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is already appealing the four game suspension handed down to him from the NFL resulting from what was called Deflategate or the findings in the Wells Report. Many thought that the saga would quietly end after the results were in, but another twist came when the NFL confirmed that commissioner Roger Goodell will be the one to hear Tom Brady’s appeal.

It might sound a little funny, but under the terms of the 2011 collective bargaining agreement, Goodell does have the authority to appoint himself to this position in an appeals proceeding. This will naturally get many up in arms expecting Brady to be quickly reversed in his suspension.

On behalf of Brady, the NFL Players Association filed an appeal Thursday, saying a neutral party should hear its argument. They actually urged for a neutral arbitrator to hear the case given the controversial nature of everything.

In a brief statement announcing that the appeal had been filed — under Article 46 of the CBA, Brady had three business days to file his appeal, which was handed down on Monday — the Players Association wrote, “The NFLPA has filed an appeal of the four-game suspension of Tom Brady handed down by Troy Vincent.

“Given the NFL’s history of inconsistency and arbitrary decisions in disciplinary matters, it is only fair that a neutral arbitrator hear this appeal,” the association said in a statement.

“If Ted Wells and the NFL believe, as their public comments stated, that the evidence in their report is ‘direct’ and ‘inculpatory,’ then they should be confident enough to present their case before someone who is truly independent.”

The actual letter the NFLPA sent to the league has not been released, though it could be made public at some point.

However, NFL Network reporter Albert Breer saw the letter and reported that there are four points Brady, Kessler, and the Players Association will hinge their argument on:

First, they will question the Wells Report and ask a simple question: Is Brady guilty? They will argue that there is no direct evidence pointing to the quarterback being guilty of anything;

Second, they will say that under the rules set forth in the collective bargaining agreement, Vincent should not have been the party determining the discipline given to Brady and the Patriots, and that it should have been either Goodell or a hearing officer;

Third, Brady, the NFLPA, and Kessler will argue that Brady’s punishment doesn’t fit the crime and is not consistent with other discipline the league has handed out. The league may counter that there is no precedent for this situation;

Last, and this was made clear in the NFLPA’s statement, Brady, Kessler, and the union will fight for Goodell to select a neutral arbitrator to hear the appeal. Instead, it will be the commissioner himself.

The NFL Network reported that it’s expected the hearing will take place in early to mid-June.

tom brady appealing his suspension from deflategate

But late Thursday, the league said that Commissioner Roger Goodell would rule on the matter.

“Commissioner Goodell will hear the appeal of Tom Brady’s suspension in accordance with the process agreed upon with the NFL Players Association in the 2011 collective bargaining agreement.”

The league has said the suspension is a fair punishment. Though the league said the Brady suspension as well as the discipline imposed on the Patriots organization were decided by league vice president of football operations Troy Vincent, it is noted that Goodell authorized Vincent’s resolutions.

“We reached these decisions after extensive discussion with Troy Vincent and many others,” Goodell said in a statement. “We relied on the critical importance of protecting the integrity of the game and thoroughness and independence of the Wells Report.”

The team was fined $1 million and will forfeit its first-round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft and its fourth-round pick in the 2017 draft.

The appeal isn’t a surprise. Brady’s agent, Don Yee, had promised one on Monday when the National Football League suspended Brady for four games without pay. That move came after an investigation found that the Patriots used underinflated footballs for an advantage in last season’s AFC Championship game.

“The discipline is ridiculous and has no legitimate basis,” Yee said in a statement Monday.

“In my opinion, this outcome was predetermined; there was no fairness in the … investigation whatsoever,” he said. “There is no evidence that Tom directed footballs be set at pressures below the allowable limits.”

But a report by attorney Ted Wells, hired by the league to investigate the incident, found thatBrady probably had at least a general knowledge about how the balls were deflated. The report points its finger at equipment assistant John Jastremski and the man who carried the balls from the officials locker room to the field, Jim McNally, as the likely perpetrators.

Brady, when interviewed, denied knowing about or being involved in the deflation efforts. He said recently at a public event that the team earned everything during its Super Bowl-winning season.

It isn’t clear exactly when his representatives will be making their case to the NFL.

Any appeal hearing will begin within 10 days of the league’s receipt of an appeal. Brady’s appeal would be heard by either NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell or an officer of his choosing.

Patriots: Belief in Brady ‘has not wavered’

The Patriots are standing by their quarterback, calling the discipline one-sided.

“Tom Brady has our unconditional support,” the team said. “Our belief in him has not wavered.”

In its official response Monday, the organization said it continues to deny tampering with the balls but was willing to face any discipline handed down. But the team and Robert Kraft, Patriots chairman and CEO, said the sanctions announced by the NFL “far exceeded any reasonable expectation.”

Later in the week, an attorney for the Patriots published an extensive online rebuttal of the NFL’s finding in the case.

The rebuttal by Daniel L. Goldberg asserts, among other things, that the NFL’s report inappropriately dismissed scientific explanations as to why Patriots’ footballs would have naturally lost air during the January 18 AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Patriots beat the Colts 45-7 en route to a Super Bowl XLIX victory.

Investigation: ‘More probable than not’ that Brady knew

In the 243-page Wells report, investigators admit there is less direct evidence linking Brady to tampering with the air pressure in the balls.

And no one says in the report that the quarterback tampered with the balls himself.

“We nevertheless believe, based on the totality of the evidence, that it is more probable than not that Brady was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities of McNally and Jastremski involving the release of air from Patriots game balls,” the report says.

The report includes phone records, texts and emails, including some exchanges between Brady and Jastremski.

There are also text messages between McNally and Jastremski that include references to Brady and air pressure. And the report says it unlikely two employees would deflate any football “without Brady’s knowledge and approval.”

But Brady, who answered questions from investigators over the course of one day, did not turn over personal information such as texts and emails. That’s something the NFL said it took into account when it decided on an appropriate punishment.

Yee told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the quarterback didn’t agree to hand over text messages because that would set a bad precedent for other players involved in disciplinary investigations.

The online rebuttal written by Goldberg, the Patriots’ attorney, asserts that McNally’s and Jastremski’s texts display nothing more than attempts at humor, and that the Wells report misinterprets them as references to a plot to deflate footballs.

‘Protecting the integrity of the game’

In a letter to Brady, NFL Executive President Troy Vincent said the quarterback’s actions were detrimental to the integrity of the sport.

“Each player, no matter how accomplished and otherwise respected, has an obligation to comply with the rules and must be held accountable for his actions when those rules are violated and the public’s confidence in the game is called into question,” Vincent wrote.

As it stands, Brady will be suspended for the first four regular season games of 2015 but can participate in training camp and other activities, including preseason games.

Jastremski and McNally, who have been indefinitely suspended without pay since May 6, cannot be reinstated without NFL approval, the league said.

If the men are reinstated, they will be prohibited from certain duties, such as managing the locker room or overseeing preparation of the game footballs.

Goodell said the punishment is in line with the findings of the report.

“We relied on the critical importance of protecting the integrity of the game and the thoroughness and independence of the Wells report,” he said.

Roger Federer Novak Djokovic & Rafael Nadal Aiming For 2015 Italian Open Semi-finals

Day 6 at the 2015 Rome Masters Open is what every tennis fan dreams about where you’ve got the Big Three tennis players in the quarter-finals with the possibility of Rafael Nadal going up against Roger Federer in the semi-finals. If they beat Stan Wawrinka and Tomas Berdych, and Novak Djokovic could be playing against the winner of the match provided he takes out rising Japan tennis star Kei Nishikori. This is definitely a great day of tennis, and for those in Rome, even better.

I can only imagine what Andy Murray would have added to this mix if he hadn’t had to pull out of the Open due to exhaustion, but the probability of one of the three big ones coming to the finals if pretty certain. As the betting odds continue dropping for Nadal as he still struggles with his slump could make him a good bet for the 2015 French Open.

You can check out the full draw schedule below updated daily.

Djokovic, who is unbeaten on clay this year, goes up againstKei Nishikori in a mouth-watering clash, while Federer takes on the in-form Tomas Berdych and Nadal clashes with Stan Wawrinka. The other QF sees David Ferrer face off with David Goffin on Grandstand.

The Swiss is making his 15th appearance in the Italian capital – at no other tournament has he appeared more without winning the title. He has reached the final here three times: 2003 (l. to Mantilla), 2006 (l. to Nadal) and 2013 (l. to Nadal).

ON THE RISE: Goffin will contest his first ATP Masters 1000 QF. The Belgian, who received a walkover from Murray in the previous round, is projected to rise to a career-high No. 18 on Monday. The highest ranked Belgian ever was Xavier Malisse, who reached No. 19 on August 12, 2002.

•    Nadal eased through his opening match, dropping just two games in his victory over Marsel Ilhan, before overcoming John Isner’s challenge 6-4, 6-4. The big-serving American had come into the match having held in 84 consecutive service games, but Nadal broke him twice.
•    Nadal has reached the Rome final in nine of his ten appearances, winning seven titles: 2005 (d. Coria), 2006 (d. Federer), 2007 (d. Gonzalez), 2009 (d. Djokovic), 2010 (d. Ferrer), 2012 (d. Djokovic) and 2013 (d. Federer). He has lost just three matches here.
•    Nadal suffered his first defeat to Murray on clay in the Madrid final on Sunday. It was his fourth clay court defeat of the season. The last time he lost at least four matches on the surface in a single season was in his rookie campaign in 2003.
•    Nadal dropped to No. 7 in the Emirates ATP Rankings on Monday, putting him outside the Top 5 for the first time in a decade (No. 7 – May 2, 2005). That week the Top 10 were: 1) Federer, 2) Hewitt, 3) Roddick, 4) Safin, 5) Gaudio, 6) Henman, 7) Nadal, 8) Moya, 9) Agassi, 10) Nalbandian.
•    Nadal has a 17-4 record on clay this season with his four losses coming against Djokovic (Monte-Carlo SF), Fognini twice (Rio de Janeiro SF and Barcelona 3R) and Murray.
•    In February, Nadal won the 46th clay court title of his career in Buenos Aires (d. Monaco), and is now just three short of Guillermo Vilas’ record clay court title haul of 49. His victory in Argentina ended a nine-month trophy drought dating back to Roland Garros 2014 (d. Djokovic).
•    In March, Nadal fell in the QF at Indian Wells (l. to Raonic after holding three MPs) and the 3R in Miami (l. to Verdasco).
•    Nadal lost his opening match of the season, 1R in Doha (l. to Michael Berrer), before reaching the QF of the Australian Open (l. to Berdych).
•    In 2014, Nadal finished in the Top 3 for the ninth time in the past 10 years (except 2012), capturing four titles in seven finals. The Spaniard extended his streak of winning at least one Grand Slam title per year to a record 10th year in a row with his ninth victory at Roland Garros. His 14 Slam titles are tied second all-time with Pete Sampras, behind Roger Federer(17).

GRANDSTAND

David Goffin (BEL)            vs            [7] David Ferrer (ESP)

FedEx ATP Head2Head: Ferrer leads 1-0

•    Goffin edged past Italian qualifier Andreas Arnaboldi 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in his opening match before saving three MPs en route to a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 upset ofJo-Wilfried Tsonga. He then received a walkover from Andy Murray to reach an ATP Masters 1000 QF for the first time.
•    Goffin is making his Internazionali BNL d’Italia debut.
•    Goffin opened his season with a SF run in Chennai (l. to Wawrinka). He failed to go beyond the 2R at his next five tournaments – Sydney, Australian Open, Rotterdam, Marseille and Dubai – before advancing to the 4R in Miami (l. to Nishikori). He also reached the Munich QF two weeks ago (l. to Kohlschreiber),
•    Goffin has a 1-16 record vs. Top 10 opponents with his lone win coming against No. 9 Milos Raonic en route to the final in Basel in October last year.
•    In 2014, Goffin finished as his country’s highest-ranked player with a year-end high No. 22, rising 91 places from 2013. After compiling a 3-11 mark from January to the middle of July, he closed the season with a 22-4 record, winning his first ATP World Tour titles in Kitzbühel (d. Thiem in first ATP final featuring 2 players born in 90s) and Metz (d. Sousa). Won ATP Comeback Player of the Year.
•    Ferrer hit 30 wins for the season with a 6-4, 7-5 defeat of Richard Gasquet in his opening match. He then cruised past compatriot Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-1, 6-3 to reach the QF.
•    Ferrer is making his 12th appearance in Rome. He has now reached at least the QF here six times (including this year), with his best result a runner-up showing in 2010 (d. No. 5 Murray, No. 10 Tsonga, No. 9 Verdasco; l. to Nadal).
•    Ferrer has now reached at least the QF at 12 of his last 14 ATP Masters 1000 events, including four this year: Miami (l. to Djokovic), Monte-Carlo (l. to Nadal), Madrid (l. to Nishikori) and Rome.
•    Ferrer has won three titles this year, bringing his career haul to 24. He captured the Doha title in the opening week of the season (d. Berdych), before posting back-to-back tournament wins at the ATP 500 events in Rio de Janeiro (d. Fognini) and Acapulco (d. Nishikori). He became the first player since Ivan Lendl in 1985 to win back-to-back tournaments on two different surfaces.
•    In 2014, Ferrer finished in the Top 10 for the fifth year in a row and sixth overall, reaching the QF or better 17 times, while clinching a lone title in Buenos Aires (d. Fognini).

sexiest male celebrities 2015 images

We love to love them because we can’t stop wanting to know more about them. Who am I talking about? I’m talking about the sexiest stars, in particular men, we have the pleasure to lay our eyes on.

Now before I get into the list, let me just say that there are a lot of different forms of sexy. It’s not always just about how they look. I mean, of course that plays a major role in it, but I’d like to think that I am not that shallow (I’d like to think).

So, because we just can’t get enough of them, here are some of the hottest, sexiest, OMG famous men alive.

tim howard sexiest celebrities 2015

Tim Howard

There is no way on earth I can do a list and not include this green-eyed dream. He is athletic (soccer is so sexy) he is edgy (all of those damn tattoos) he is a family man (Tim loves the babies) and just an all around nice guy. His good looks and rugged charm just adds to his hotness.

idris elba shirtless sexiest celebrities 2015

Idris Elba

This chocolate vision of love is pretty much everything! I mean from his walk, to his accent to the fact that he is also a DJ, he oozes swag. There is no getting around the fact that he is just so damn pretty to look at and then, that body… well… I’d like a tall glass of Elba  (sigh… is that too much).

dwayne rock johnson sexiest celebrities 2015

Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson

This Renaissance man is a towering blob of awesomely delicious male power to look upon. I mean, from wresting, to acting to his giving back to those who need help, the way he carries himself is so giving is sexy. And it does not hurt that he loves the hell out of his momma and his body is that of a God.

ryan gosling sexy celebrities 2015

Ryan Gosling

Not only is he a Mickey Mouse Club alum who can hold his own with the likes of Justin Timberlake and JC Chavez singing wise, he is super cool and gentle. From his “Hey Girl” memes to his ukulele playing, his artsy fartys side is uber attractive. And it doesn’t hurt that he was in one of the most popular chick flicks of all time (The Notebook).

joe manganiello sexiest celebrities 2015

Joe Manganiello

This man, is just… mmm. There is kind of no words to say. From playing a werewolf on the hit HBO series True Blood to putting a ring on one of Hollywood’s most eligible actresses (Sofia Vergara) he is like a great big teddy bear that you don’t mind squeezing at night (or any time of the day for that matter).

chris hemsworth sexiest celebrities 2015

Chris Hemsworth

Yes! Thor is definitely included in this list. From the first time I saw Chris Hemsworth and his eight pack looking like perfectly buttered Thanksgiving rolls, I was in love. His take on a mythical God is just a plus.

omari hardwick sexiest celebrities 2015

Omari Hardwick

This beautiful man first popped up on my radar when he was on the show Dark Blue. Now that he plays a hard core drug pen turned club owner but is still kind of a drug pen on the Starz hit Power, seeing him in action is just all the more indulgent.

djimon hounsou sexiest celebrities 2015

Djimon Hounsou

There is just something about this model turned actor. He is pure, unadulterated beauty and his strength and power comes through every role that he plays. I mean, yea, he is one of Kimora Lee Simons’ baby daddy, but despite that infortune, he still gets some love from me.

jason momoa sexiest celebrities 2015

Jason Momoa

Married to hottie Lisa Bonet, Jason Momoa is kind of in class all his own. His power as an actor obviously comes from his power as a man and from what I can see, there is no doubt that he is everything you think of when you think of a male dominance.

nate parker sexiest celebrities 2015

Nate Parker

This actor has really made his stake in Hollywood and it hasn’t been without showing a little chest here and there. From being a champion swimmer to a sexy life saving security guard to one of the Tuskegee airmen, he has shown us that he is worthy to be on this list and other lists.

ryan reynolds sexiest celebrities 2015

Ryan Reynolds

Ah yes, my other favorite Ryan. His comedic prowess is off the charts but he knows how to switch it up for the dramatic. He is the cutest new dad ever and is married to one of the prettiest actresses in the business (and was also married to one of the prettiest actresses in the business). He is definitely a 10.

Bonus

 Jesse Williams sexiest celebrities 2015

Jesse Williams

Yes he is famous for being a doctor on the long running Grey’s Anatomy, but his role as Dr. Jackson Avery is not the thing that makes him a bonus for this list. While he is so hot and so fine, he is also very vocal about race relations in America. Being half black, he doesn’t hide his disdain for the way black men are treated by cops and just in general. His looks plus his social and political awareness is just icing on the cake.

Does Steve Jobs’ Vision still live on at Apple?

steve jobs vision living at apple 2015

It was a tragic day on October 5th 2011 when Steve Jobs sadly passed away. He was without a doubt one of the most influential businessmen in the tech space and the inspiration that he brought to Apple still lives on today several years on.

On first inspection of the company it does appear that they are doing as well as they ever were – in fact if you look at the figures for Apple it would actually appear that they are doing better than they ever have done before and therefore are not suffering too much with the loss of inspiration that came from Steve jobs.

It is easy to believe this picture – after all whist Steve Jobs did bring a huge amount of inspiration to the company and its products there are also many other skills and advantages that have been brought to the company by its new CEO Tim Cook.

Tim Cook also has a very impressive background in the technology niche – in particular he spent 12 years at IBM eventually becoming director of North American Fulfilment.

In light of Tim’s accolades it would be fair to say that whilst much of the inspiration for Apples products is already in place Tim has brought much to the company that complement this in terms of business strategy, marketing and general direction. It does seem that this combination has been working very well and the company is very profitable and also still churning out very popular products – the latest of which being the Apple Watch which is set to be the leader in the wearable tech space.

apple watch changing steve jobs vision

Whilst we can pain a very believable picture of Apples continuing success and also provide some reasoning behind this explanation others would argue that Steve was the man behind Apple and the visionary that made the company what it is today. These people would suggest that without this visionary involved the company will see a gradual decline as new products come from other tech companies.

It is possible that without Steve Jobs there will not be the same level of innovation and whilst new products can be created along similar lines to what is currently available as these ideas dry out there will be no new inspiration from the company.

This is a very possible theory – especially in the technology niche over any other where everything changes so rapidly. It is highly possible that as new products start coming onto the market and new technologies such as wearable tech and the Internet of Things further evolve that Apple will gradually begin to fall behind and we will see other companies start to take their place.

Of course it may not turn out this way – Tim Cook and the new Apple team may be able to keep up with their competitors and continue to innovate in the tech space long into the future. Only time will tell what happens here. It really comes down to what you believe about Apple and in particular how you see Steve Jobs’ role in the company – personally I see his role as being the visionary – he didn’t just work to create all of the products that made Apple such a big success, he was thinking about those products in his mind for many years before they came into fruition and like a visionary he would have stopped at nothing until those products were realised.

It is perhaps that extreme driving force that has made Apple into the success that it is today – and perhaps so much so that the vision and the inspiration for the company has continued on long after Steve Jobs’ passed away such was the power of his visions.

Only time will tell whether this theory is true – perhaps I will be proven wrong and Apple will continue to see success or perhaps they will gradually turn into decline, only to be replaced by the next big tech giant.

It would be great to hear some other opinions on this subject – do you think that Apple can ultimately survive without Steve Jobs? Is Tim Cook really up to the task or will we see them start to decline as the technology niche further evolves? And if we do see them decline who is most likely to take their place as the lead innovator in tech?

Bayern Munich 3 – 2 Barcelona: Barcelona vs Juventus Next

bayern munich beats barcelona soccer 2015

Bayern Munich tried their level best to comeback from the 3 – 0 defeat at Camp Nou but at present Luis Enrique’s men are in a class of their own. The Bavarian giants won 3 – 2 at home on Tuesday but it was all in vain as Barcelona won 5 – 3 on aggregate to advance to the final in Berlin.

Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller gave commendable performances in the second leg of the semi-final, but Neymar struck twice to reach his first ever Champions League final. Mehdi Benatia opened the scoring for Bayern in the 7th minute, but Neymar equalized only eight minutes later. The Brazilian skipper gave his side the lead at the half-hour mark. Suarez and Messi were also involved in the goals netted by Neymar, who has now scored 37 goals in all competitions.

The German champions came back stronger in the second half and completely dominated over the Spanish league leaders. In the post-match interview the Bayern boss Guardiola praised his side and also labeled Lionel Messi as the best player of all time.

“He is the best player of all time, I compare him with Pele,” said the 44-year-old. “I hope Barca win their fifth Champions League final.”

He added: “He is back, he is there where I had the privilege to train him. He is definitely back at his best.”

The coach of the winning team, Luis Enrique was delighted with the performance of his team. In his debut at the helm of the Catalan giants, Enrique is already on course to win the treble. He expressed his happiness in the post-match conference.

“With such a good result from the first leg, we knew they had to give more,” the Barca boss said.

“The second-half was different, because they attacked us more, but we are now in the final and can win the title in each competition we are in. This is what it means to be part of Barca.”

The 45-year-old went on to make his intentions clear. Six years after winning their first treble, Barcelona are aiming to become the first team ever to win a second one. Luis Enrique said: “It’s a great achievement to reach the final. We’re one win away from winning each of the three competitions. This is our mission. This is what it means to be part of Barca.

“I am very satisfied with the performance of my players, the whole team deserved the victory and we have to enjoy this.”

Barcelona will face the Italian champions Juventus in Berlin. Luis Suarez will face his old nemesis Patrice Evra. They have a long standing history of controversies from their days in the Premier League. The Uruguayan forward will also come face to face with Giorgio Chiellini, who was involved in the sending off of Suarez in the World Cup. The Barca ace bit Chiellini on the shoulder in a moment of madness which led to him to a ban from football for four months. It will be a big mental test for the former Liverpool striker. It will be interesting to see how he’ll cope up with the challenges and compete in his first ever Champions League final.

Real Madrid 1 – 1 Juventus: Juventus vs Barcelona Next

The final of this season’s Champions League won’t be an El Clasico after all. Juventus will join Barcelona in the final in Berlin on June 6.

Real Madrid won’t be able to successfully retain their European title as the Old Lady beat them 3 – 2 on aggregate in the semi-final. A foul on James Rodriguez in the penalty box resulted in a penalty kick for Los Blancos. Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up and scored past Buffon to give his side the lead. Ronaldo’s 23rd minute strike would have been enough to allow Real to advance to the final on away goals rule. But it wasn’t meant to be as Alvaro Morata cancelled out Madrid’s lead in the second half. It was Morata’s first return to the Santiago Bernabeu and the Spaniard didn’t celebrate the goal which eventually knocked out his former side.

The Real Madrid’s Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti was satisfied with his team’s performance as he later tweeted that he is proud of his players. Although post-match the Italian claimed that he isn’t sure about his future at the club.

“I don’t know if I will be here next season,” said Ancelotti. “Today to talk about the future does not make much sense. We have two league games and we must try to close the season the best way we can by winning them. Then we will meet and discuss the future.”

Despite his comments, the Spanish newspaper Marca quoted that Ancelotti would like to prolong his stay at the Spanish capital. Marca’s quotes of Ancelotti: “If the club is happy with the work I have done in two years, I can continue. If they are not happy, they have to make a decision. I want to stay here, but I know how it works in football.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri was ecstatic with his team’s achievement. When asked to sum up the semi-final, Allegri replied with, “Incredible but true.”

In the post-match press conference, the 47-year-old glowingly said, “The lads really deserve the praise. It’s an amazing night for them and for Italian football in general. I’m starting to realise just what a tremendous season we’re having – perhaps beyond what anyone ever expected.

Allegri conceded that he knew the Spanish giants can pose an enormous threat at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“We expected the game to go the way it did, although we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. It was one of those nights where you need to combine courage with a first-rate performance.

“Maybe we’re still not aware of our full potential but we were superb in both legs of this semi-final. We created chances, and came under a bit of pressure at times. It was a battle between two highly technical sides,” Allegri added.

Juve can follow in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho’s Inter, who won the treble in the year 2010. May be the clash against Inter at San Siro on Saturday could inspire the Italian champions for the duel next month. The Serie A giants have already wrapped up the league title and the Coppa Italia is next on their list.

“We have a Coppa Italia final coming up which is hugely important for us. Then we have this massive game in Berlin. We’ve got to the final by believing in our ability and that belief has grown and grown,” the Juventus boss said.

“Anything can happen in a one-off match. We’ll see which team is in the best shape in a month’s time.”

The CEO of the Italian club Giuseppe Marotta was also unsurprisingly delighted with the feat that their team has achieved.

“The boss got it spot on. He could have stayed back and defended, but instead decided to keep the team high up the field. They even had a few chances to kill the game off for good,” Marotta said.

Novak Djokovic Put To Test By Thomaz Bellucci: 2015 Rome Masters

novak djokovic returns to tomaz bellucci 2015 rome open

Number one ranked tennis star Novak Djokovic was actually put to the test on Thursday at the 2015 Rome Masters Open by Brazilian qualifier Thomaz Bellucci. The three-time champion had to battle from a one set deficit to beat Bellucci 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 taking him on to the quarter-finals where he has yet another big challenge in Japan’s Kei Nishikori, who seems to be the one tennis player who could be his biggest rival this year. This puts Djokovic’s match winning streak at 19.

The top seed and defending champion, who hoisted the trophy at this ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event in 2008 (d. Wawrinka), 2011 (d. Nadal) and 2014 (d. Nadal), will face fifth seed Kei Nishikori in the quarter-finals.

Djokovic, who also needed three sets to beat Nicolas Almagro in the second round, is looking to win his 24th Masters 1000 title, which would surpass Roger Federer (23) and be three short of Rafael Nadal (27).

Nishikori beat Viktor Troicki 6-4, 6-3 to book his spot in the last eight, fighting hard to capitalise on four of his 12 break point chances in the 89-minute match.

The quarter-final berth marks Nishikori’s best result in just his second main draw appearance in Rome. He reached the second round in his one previous visit in 2013 (l. to Chardy).

It will be the sixth meeting between Djokovic and Nishikori. The Serb leads their FedEx ATP Head2Head series 3-2. Nishikori got the better of Djokovic at last year’s US Open as he advanced to his first Grand Slam final, but Djokovic won their two most recent meetings in Paris and at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.

Earlier, Rafael Nadal became the first player to break John Isner’s serve in nearly a month, and he did it twice in a 6-4, 6-4 win.

[pdf-embedder url=”http://movietvtechgeeks.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/2015-rome-masters-open-quarter-finals-draw-schedule.pdf”]

Andy Murray and Serena Williams, meanwhile, withdrew from the last big warm-up tournament before the French Open, which starts in 10 days.

Murray cited fatigue following consecutive clay titles in Munich and Madrid, while Williams said she has a right elbow injury.

Isner held serve in 84 consecutive games stretching back to his last meeting with Nadal on April 16 in the Monte Carlo Masters, when Nadal broke him in the third set and went on to win.

This time, Nadal broke to take a 3-2 lead in the first set with a forehand winner that landed on the line on his first break point. Then the Spaniard produced a whipping forehand return pass up the line off Isner’s second serve to go up 5-4 in the second, and quickly closed it out from there.

“When I had chances I (took advantage),” Nadal said. “My serve was perfect the whole match. I played with (few) mistakes.”

Nadal will next face eighth-seeded Stan Wawrinka, who beat Dominic Thiem of Austria 7-6 (3), 6-4.

Roger Federer struggled only to close out a 6-3, 7-5 win over big-serving South African Kevin Anderson. Anderson served 14 aces to Federer’s four, and matched the 17-time Grand Slam champion with 22 winners, but never really put Federer under pressure.

Federer lined up sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych, who overcame a strong challenge and a partisan crowd for a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (2) win over Fabio Fognini, the last remaining Italian. Amid a raucous atmosphere on a secondary court, the match lasted more than 2 1/2 hours.

Also through was seventh-seeded David Ferrer, who defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-1, 6-3. Ferrer’s quarterfinal opponent will be David Goffin of Belgium, who advanced when Murray pulled out.

In women’s action, second-seeded Simona Halep routed 1999 Rome champion Venus Williams 6-2, 6-1; two-time champ Maria Sharapova eliminated Serbian qualifier Bojana Jovanovski 6-3, 6-3; and Carla Suarez Navarro defeated Eugenie Bouchard 6-7 (2), 7-5, 7-6 (7).

American qualifier Christina McHale made the last eight when Serena Williams withdrew.

A seven-time Rome champ, Nadal won a higher percentage of points on his first serve and virtually all of the long rallies against the 2.08-meter (6-foot-10) American, who has given him trouble in the past.

On Monday, Nadal dropped out of the top five in the ATP rankings for the first time in 10 years — falling to No. 7. Struggling to get back to his best after a wrist injury and an appendectomy last season, Nadal has lost four times on clay this year — something he hasn’t done since 2003.

But he remains optimistic.

“It seems like I’m having much more good days than bad days,” Nadal said.

Murray dominated Nadal in Sunday’s Madrid Open final, a week after taking his first clay title in Munich.

“I’m tired. My body is tired,” Murray said. “It’s completely normal, and I think acceptable to feel like that after the last few weeks.”

Serena Williams is trying not to make the same mistake as last year and let an injury affect her chances at Roland Garros.

“We have to make the right decisions for the future, not for now,” Williams said. “You know I hate, hate quitting, and this isn’t quitting, it’s just making a good decision.

“I was really injured last year, actually, and ended up taking like five days off before Paris and practicing just a day or two before the tournament started,” added Williams, who lost in the second round. “And entering a Grand Slam, you never want to enter it like that, especially as defending champion.”

Kei Nishikori vs Novak Djokovic: 2015 Rome Masters Open

novak djokovic vs kei nishikori at rome masters 2015 images

Japan’s rising tennis star Kei Nishikori knocked out one Serbian to take on an even more powerful one in the 2015 Rome Masters Open quarter-finals. Fifth seed Nishikori made short work of Viktor Troicki in two sets 6-4, 6-3 on Thursday making it look rather easy. He will now go on to face the number one ranked tennis player in the world Novak Djokovic.

Nishikori broke serve in the eighth game of the first set and even though he lost serve himself in the next game, a love break in game 10 handed the world number six the opener.

In the second set, Nishikori was quickly a break to the good and raced to a 3-0 lead.

[pdf-embedder url=”http://movietvtechgeeks.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/2015-rome-masters-open-quarter-finals-draw-schedule.pdf”]

To his credit, world number 34 Troicki battled back to level matters at 3-3, but proceeded to lose the next three games and with that, the match.

Our sports writer Shane Lambert has questioned if Nishikori is the biggest rival for Djokovic this year, and we’ll find out soon enough as the Open moves into the quarter-finals. Below is Lambert’s hypothesis on how the Japanese tennis star could work in the Rome open.

kei nishikori vs novak djokovic 2015 rome masters

Yet the fact that he has so much room for growth when it comes to ranking points in the two upcoming Grand Slams is just one reason why Nishikori might be headed toward the top. It has to be pointed out that he also has tremendous growth potential in a few upcoming Master Series events.

For example, the Rome Masters will be played in May and last year Nishikori missed the event entirely. He also missed both Cincinnati and Canada in the summer before going on his surprise run at the 2014 US Open. That Nishikori has so many major events that he either no-showed or played poorly in last season coming up in the months ahead makes him a player well worth watching.

Consider the following hypothetical results:

Rome: Nishikori makes the quarters
Roland Garros: Nishikori makes the quarters
Wimbledon: Nishikori makes the semis
Canada: Nishikori makes the final
Cincinnati: Nishikori makes the semis

Those results would see Japan’s top player gain almost 2000 ranking points when these events are looked at in isolation. Importantly, the hypothetical results above are realistic enough for Nishikori to achieve.

As things currently are, you have to wonder if Japan’s top player will be the World No. 2 heading in the 2015 US Open. While there are lots of events that affect rankings the five examined are the big ones that are upcoming.

In conclusion, I think it is safe to that Nishikori, if he plays his best, could supplant both Andy Murray and Roger Federer in the months ahead. That said, Japan’s top player may become the chief rival for Novak Djokovic toward the end of the 2015 season.

Denver Broncos 2015 NFL Draft & Offseason Recap

denver broncos draft offseason 2015 images

After a 12-4 finish and another early playoff exit in 2014, the Denver Broncos came up short of their Super Bowl-or-bust goal for the third season in a row.

The ensuing offseason for the Broncos has been interesting to say the least. Although Peyton Manning has one, maybe two seasons left at best, John Elway decided it was time to change absolutely everything. Basically, Manning is the only person that wasn’t in danger of being kicked out.

peyton manning and john elway with denver broncos 2015

First, Elway and John Fox decided they disagreed on how to make it back to the Super Bowl; and so Fox left to coach the Chicago Bears. Adam Gase left, Jack Del Rio left, and then suddenly Elway found himself needing to replace the three most important coaching positions on the team. Honestly, Elway is lucky Manning didn’t leave with all the turmoil in the organization—in fact, it looked like Elway was trying to push the future Hall-of-Famer out for a while there.

john fox gone after john elway makes broncos changes 2015

Elway does deserve credit however for responding quickly and finding the best candidates for the job. Gary Kubiak was brought in to replace Fox as head coach, and Wade Phillips was brought in as the defensive coordinator. These two coaches have worked together before with the Houston Texans, and they worked magic there considering the quarterback was Matt Schaub. With Manning under center the sky is the limit.

Overall, the team didn’t take any huge losses during the offseason. Julius Thomas walked to join the Jacksonville Jaguars (maybe he got tired of winning?), but Virgil Green and Owen Daniels together show enough promise that Thomas shouldn’t be missed too much.

The team did retain Demaryius Thomas with the franchise tag, who has become Manning’s favorite target over the past few seasons. Definitely better to keep D. Thomas than J. Thomas.

The Broncos made their biggest moves in the 2015 NFL Draft. With no real backup quarterback (sorry Brock Osweiler) and no plan to draft one, Elway and the Broncos are going all-in for one more Super Bowl-or-bust season; and they certainly did their best to surround Manning with the talent he’ll need to make said run in 2015.

Their first round selection of Shane Ray was arguably the steal of the draft. The potential top-five pick dropped over growing health concerns and his marijuana citation, and the Broncos moved up to 23rd to grab him.

shane ray steal for denver broncos draft 2015

Ray has made it clear that he does not need surgery on his foot; so barring any other off-the-field issues, he will provide depth and quality assistance to Von Miller and Demarcus Ware on the defensive line. Ware is getting older, but he’s not playing like it with 10 sacks in 2014. Miller chipped in another 14 sacks.

The reigning SEC Defensive Player of the Year couldn’t have asked for a better situation to be drafted into—Miller and Ware are too much for offensive lines to handle by themselves, so adding another big threat to that defensive line will only make things worse for opposing quarterbacks.

The Broncos also found an upgrade at right tackle bringing in Ty Sambrailo with their second round selection. Lorenzo Doss from Tulane is a solid cornerback; and although he was a fifth round selection, don’t be surprised if he’s in the rotation come Week 1.

Overall, not a bad offseason for the 2013 AFC champs at all. With any luck as far as health goes and some defensive improvement under Wade Phillips, the Broncos just may find themselves competing for that Super Bowl berth again in 2015.

Andy Murray Withdraws From 2015 Rome Masters Open

andy murray withdraws from Rome masters 2015

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Andy Murray has had to withdraw from the 2015 Rome Masters Open due to exhaustion as he’s been running on fumes for some time now. Just the fact that he doing back to back Opens and matches is sure to wear anyone down. This is why Novak Djokovic took a three week break to mentally and physically prepare for the 2015 French Open.

Djokovic  entered this open and is back to fine form from the rest. Murray went from the Munich Open to the Madrid Open and not to the Rome Open with no rest and that’s on top of his just being married. That alone might be a great time in your life, but for anyone’s who’s been married, it comes with it’s own bag of stress.

Andy Murray has been forced to withdraw from the Internazionali BNL d’Italia ahead of his third-round match with David Goffin, citing fatigue.

The Scot has played 10 matches in the past 12 days, winning his first ATP World Tour clay-court title in Munich (d. Kohlschreiber) before upsetting Rafael Nadal in the final of the Mutua Madrid Open six days later. He opened his Rome campaign on Wednesday against Jeremy Chardy, but after feeling flat in Thursday morning’s practice, decided he could not compete any further this week.

Writing on Twitter, the Scot said, “Sorry to everyone @InteBNLdItalia for withdrawing from the event today. I always feel bad after making decisions like this but my body is extremely tired and fatigued right now having played 10 matches in the last 12 days. I wanted to try to compete in the event but after warming up today I didn’t feel able to compete. I hope next year I can come back to Rome and do better. Sorry, Andy.”

The 27-year-old third seed, who had considered skipping the tournament to rest for the French Open, beat Jeremy Chardy 6-4 6-3 in the previous round.

“I’ve played so much over the past 14 days. I’ve played 10 matches with some extremely late finishes and my body needs to rest,” Murray said in interviews.

“I actually felt I played a good match yesterday, but my body is tired. I have to listen to that and respect that.”

Elsewhere in the draw, Roger Federer survived a late fightback by Kevin Anderson to win 6-3 7-5 and book his place in the quarter-finals.

If the Swiss beats either Czech Tomas Berdych or local hope Fabio Fognini, he could play Rafael Nadal in the semi-final.

The Spaniard reached the last eight with a 6-4 6-4 win over American John Isner and will now meet Swiss Stan Wawrinka on Friday.

Murray’s victory over Frenchman Chardy followed back-to-back tournament victories in Munich and Madrid, where he defeated Rafael Nadal for the first time on clay in the final.

Murray’s match against Philipp Kohlschreiber in the second round in Madrid started at 01:12 local time – one minute short of the latest everon the ATP tour. The match finished at 03:00.

After several lengthy matches forced the late start, the Scot said: “If they want the players to perform at their best, players shouldn’t be playing at three o’clock in the morning.”

The ATP later said it would review its scheduling policy.

World number one Serena Williams has pulled out of the women’s event in Rome because of an elbow injury.

The French Open begins on Sunday, 24 May.

In his press conference, Murray explained, “I always want to play. That’s why, when we chatted, we didn’t just speak for two minutes. It was a proper conversation and weighing up all of the pros and cons. I’m very tired just now and I need to take a break.

“I didn’t expect to do what I’ve done the past few weeks,” added the Dunblane native. “My body has never been through that before on the clay. It’s a surface I’ve always struggled on physically. My body’s always found the surface difficult. This year, it’s been very good.

“I also don’t want to risk making it worse; in the past, I’ve maybe trained too much. I wanted to play in this event. It’s a big tournament, a lot of points on offer. The time of year is tough on everyone and it’s just one of those things.”

“I’m going to take a few days’ rest. I won’t train; I won’t go on the court. I just need a few days to recover. I’ll go home either tonight or tomorrow morning and spend a few days at home, maybe see my physio a little bit over the weekend to try and help the recovery process. I’ll try to rest and sleep and recover; that’s what I need to do right now. Hopefully I’ll get to Paris early next week and get some good days’ training done there.”

By virtue of the walkover, World No. 20 Goffin, who saved three match points to upset Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the second round, is through to his first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 quarter-final. He goes on to face David Ferrer.
