It’s always been hard enough for actors like Tyrese Gibson to get work since there’s so many more of them than movies being made, but now today, there’s even less movies being made with the same amount of actors so they really have to take it to the next level to get a studios attention. This is similar but much more tasteful than when actress Sean Young dressed up in a Catwoman costume and marched around the Warner Bros desperate for the role. She lost out to Michelle Pfeiffer, but Gibson is being very media savvy and using Facebook and Instagram to let his fans know how much he really really really wants the role of Green Lantern in the upcoming reboot.
Tyrese Gibson has already proven that when he wants something, he’s not afraid to go after it including the lead role in the upcoming Warner Bros. “Green Lantern’ film, EW reported this morning, January 28, 2015. The film won’t start shooting anytime soon as it’s slated to hit theaters in 2020, but the action movie star and R&B sensation is not wasting any time trying to land the role even using his Instagram account.
Gibson has posted around 15 pieces of fan art including himself in the images so that Warner Bros, DC Comics and producers have something to visualize with. The singer has heard rumors taht Idris Elba is a fan favorite for the action hero role so he also added comments such as this to his posts: “I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure” and “Rumor has it that.”
The nine year gap between a “Green Lantern” reboot and the disastrous one starring Ryan Reynolds should be enough for fans to have forgotten it and ready for a fresh new take. DC Comics upcoming movies include “Suicide Squad”, “Wonder Woman“, and “Aquaman“. Rumor has it that this “Green Lantern” might be used similar to the superheroes in “The Avengers” and also appearing in both “Justice League” films. As those are being released on November 17, 2017 and June 14, 2019 it’s understandable why the “Fast and the Furious” star is working double time for the role.
If Gibson lands the role, he would likely play John Stewart, an architect from Detroit who replaces Guy Gardner and Hal Jordan (played by Ryan Reynolds) and is an very instrumental in the creation of the Justice League. That’ how it plays out in the DC Comics version at least.
We heard early this morning that all the media attention surrounding this tasteful stunt has definitely gotten the attention of Warner Bros and DC Comics and they will be talking about Gibson today. Naturally, they’ll hem and haw, but we’ve heard that with all the coverage and fan interest on his social media accounts, they are taking a good hard look at how he could work in this franchise. So don’t be surprised if Gibson has played his cards right and you heard it here first that it is definitely working.
His strategy is definitely drawing attention that studios like as a Facebook image of himself as the Green Lantern has been viewed over nine million times and earned over 265,000 likes. This is similar to what Vin Diesel did to get his passion project “Riddick” filmed.
Gibson will be seen this spring in “Furious 7” and has already proven himself as action movie material after appearing in the first three “Transformers” movies.
