One of the reasons that people love ‘Justified’ so much is the banter back and forth between some truly great characters. Of course the random shootings and bar fights make it a fun show too. Oh and Ava Crowder is reason enough to watch the show even if she was never given any lines at all. ‘Justified’ will wrap up this year and we will be left with a void of great quotes from Raylan, Boyd, Art, and the rest of the Harlan citizens. There are better overall shows on TV, but I don’t know of one that has quotes on on the same level. Here are my top 10 favorite quotes from ‘Justified’.
Chief Deputy Art Mullen: [referring to Boyd Crowder] Maybe he’s become some vigilante.
Raylan Givens: Hmmm, maybe he’s Batman.
Raylan Givens: If you’re going to talk, I’ll put you in the trunk and drive myself.
Dewey Crowe: I can’t drive handcuffed to the damned steering wheel!
Raylan Givens: You’ll get the hang of it.
Boyd Crowder: Mr. Augustine, seeing as how Drew Thompson’s already in the Marshal’s’ custody, why you’re cutting off the tail of my cousin and offering him up is opaque to me.
Nicky Augustine: I’m going to need Google Translate on my phone if I’m going to keep talking to you.
Dewey Crowe: God I ain’t prayed in a while, I ain’t fixin’ to die out here in the woods like some animal, you hear me? That’s bullshit. Jesus, if you help me find him, once I kill him, I swear, I’ll straighten up, I’ll go to church, Sunday school, whatever you want, but goddamnit, I gotta get this thing done, you understand? I ain’t never asked you for shit, least you could do..”
Boyd Crowder: I don’t believe in fate. I can’t believe in fate – not anymore. I believe you dictate the river of fate through your own actions.
Art Mullen: You know, Raylan, you’re going to have a weeks paid leave coming up ’cause of the investigation. That’s going to be a very restful time.
Raylan Givens: Seriously, I’m fine.
Art Mullen: I meant restful for me.
Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Art Mullen: First thing we’re going to do is we’re gonna acknowledge that this guy’s awesome.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Rachel Brooks: What?
Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Art Mullen: I mean, he shoots Theo Tonin, fakes his own death in a spectacular fashion, pushes a guy out of an airplane while he’s flying it, parachutes into Harlan County with enough coke and cash to jump-start the economy of a small country, and then he has the balls to get a job in law enforcement, not once but two times! He spends a couple of days riding around with you
[points at Raylan]
Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Art Mullen: while you’re looking for him, and now he’s run off with a hooker that’s half his age. That’s some bad-ass shit.
Art Mullen: Tell me about the shooting.
Raylan Givens: It was justified.
Raylan Givens: Honestly, I’d rather stick my dick in a blender.
Boyd Crowder: I count four to one. That hardly seems fair.
I could certainly make the list longer and may add some after this season wraps. I love the top quote. Raylan is supremely confident in his gun handling abilities. He may not win every fist fight, but in a close range gun fight he knows he is the best on the planet.
Can’t resist adding one more:
Winona Hawkins: You’re a little old to be fighting, aren’t you?
Raylan Givens: Certainly too old to be losing.
