The seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race kicked off with an introduction to the “ladies” that are participating this season. This collection of Motley Crew type individuals makes from some unique (and some might say compelling) TV. Each lady happily met RuPaul and gushed over her. The ladies range in age from early 20s to mid30s. Sadly, Logo still is remaining one of the last channels to convert to HD so it feels like we’re back in the pre-HD days with the fuzzy look of the show. Watching it on a 4K TV is crazy as you feel like someone stuck a VHS tape in, but with all the high lighting on Ru, I’m sure the fuzzy look is much appreciated by the queens.
After comparing tits and other body parts the ladies talked about their careers as drag queens. Some talked of having prepared for years to be a part of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The drama among the ladies began when one asked another one how old she is.
The first challenge of the season that the ladies faced was for each one of them to model their two best outfits. Each challenge that they participate in this season will be judged by Carson Kressley, Ross Matthews and RuPaul. There were celebrity photographers on hand to capture the ladies fashion show. Each lady is competing for the ultimate prize of $100,000 and a one year supply of designer makeup, free of charge.
Fall 2015 fashions are featured on this show as the drag queens only want to be seen in the latest, most popular outfits among women all over the U.S. As each lady walked the runway the judges expressed mostly favorable opinions on the outfits they chose to model.
After the fashion show was over the ladies changed back into their male identities. This allowed them to prepare for the next challenge, which was to model a resort wear outfit that they could quickly shed. Each drag queen had to create their outfit for this challenge. While creating their outfits, one of the drag queens talked about how he needed to lose weight so he could be there for his husband and his children.
One drag queen’s confession that they didn’t know how to sew astonished the judges since a big part of the competition is for the drag queens to be able to sew their own outfits to model. Jasmine was criticized for creating an outfit using two hoola hoops.
Trixie talked about the fact that his boyfriend’s family does not approve of him because he is a drag queen and they have a problem with that. The other drag queens were astonished to hear this.
For this challenge the judges were joined by guest judge Kathy Griffin. Each drag queen modeled and then dropped their outfits right there on stage in front of the judges. Max walked the catwalk with crutches in each hand, to go along with the image he was trying to portray.
Kennedy Davenport listened to the judges sing their praises over her outfit. Jasmine was told that her outfit was sloppy and it didn’t fit her correctly, though she was once again praised for having lost weight.
Each drag queen was then asked who they thought had the worst outfit of the day. The judges talked about how some of the looks some of the drag Queens chose just weren’t right for them or for the competition in general.
After discussing each drag queen’s outfit individually they determined that Tempest was being sent home for having the weakest performance in this week’s competition. RuPaul ended the show by telling the ladies if they can’t love themselves no one else will ever love them either. Sadly, Logo isn’t airing Untucked anymore, but you can check out the full episode below as you’ll be able to every week here.
