Friday is here and this has been a very interesting week in the world of celebrity news and gossip. Glory Johnson gets no support from Brittany Grier, Tamar Braxton feels the IRS heat, Gene Simmons‘ house gets raided and Dr. Dre apologizes many years too late.
Glory Johnson Denied Spousal Support
Look I get it. It’s one of the oldest plays in the book. You marry someone with money, it doesn’t work out, you ask for alimony. But really Glory Johnson, you wanted Brittany Grier to pay you how much a month?
The insane monthly request of $20,000 denied by an Arizona judge (and rightfully so) was only for temporary spousal support, but honestly, Johnson asking for anything at all is a slap in the face. I mean, they both are WNBA players, they both make pretty damn decent money and probably the biggest “I mean” they were only married for 28 freaking days before it all fell apart! But as the trooper she is, in the face of the court’s decision, she’s good.
“I feel relieved and thankful now that this stressful situation is coming to an end. I was honest throughout this entire painful experience, and I have no regrets. Now, I feel like I am finally free to focus on the things in my life that really matter.”
Her spirits are up and she does have a lot of things to look forward to. She is going to be a mom to twins and she still has her basketball career. Plus a family that I am sure will be there for her.
As for Griner, she of course argued that she could not afford that much a month and is overjoyed for the ruling. Especially since the judge’s overall ruling says that she owes her NO money for alimony purposes or attorney’s fees.
Tamar Braxton and Husband hit with $600 Thousand Tax Lien
The advantages of being rich and famous are many and can take you to places that others only dream. On the downside, the disadvantages at times can be unbearable for anyone, regardless of their bank account.
The Real co-host Tamar Braxton is once again in the hot seat over money and this time, it’s nearly one million dollars that has her seeing red. Reports are swirling that Tamar and her husband Vincent owe the IRS back taxes in California and New York, which total just a little bit over $600,000. That’s a lot to digest.
It’s always so interesting to me when these super stars owe money to the IRS. Clearly they don’t have the right people around them to make sure they have their shit together. I just hope she and her boo take care of this before it gets to the point of no return.
Gene Simmons House Raided for Child Porn?
Is this the norm in Hollywood? These famous people with a whole bunch of money don’t have anything else to do (because they’ve done it all) so they turn to child porn?
With the shocking revelation of ex-Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle accepting a plea deal for child porn charges, the most recent celebrity “busted” for a similar situation is Kiss bassist Gene Simmons.
Well, he wasn’t exactly busted for child born but a search warrant was served to his Los Angeles home. However, the rocker and his family are not considered suspects. As the story goes, the search warrant has something to do with a possible crime that was committed on his property in 2014 while he was away on tour.
Details are still forthcoming about what exactly occurred and how/why it happened as his home, but the very fact that child porn and Gene Simmons are mentioned in the same sentence is definitely not a good look.
Dr. Dre Apologizes for History of Abuse Against Women
There was obviously really no way for Dr. Dre to get around not addressing the fact that he left out a lot of damning facts about his own personal history in the blockbuster movie Straight Outta Compton. The film has gotten mixed reviews from people on all sides with the movie glossing over Dr. Dre.’s woman abuse being one of the main reasons why.
While he tried as long as he could to dismiss it, he could no longer get away with it and thus has released a statement pretty much apologizing for what he has done in the past.
“Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life. However, none of this is an excuse for what I did. I’ve been married for 19 years and every day I’m working to be a better man for my family, seeking guidance along the way. I’m doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again.”
His statement was very much needed and while it probably isn’t enough for some people, I am sure that Dre’s hope is that people will accept it, move on from it and let it go.
