Yellow Labrador Hunter ready for a great summer home

We are back with our weekly “Adopt Me” feature! This week, we have an adorable pup that is anxiously waiting to find his forever home. As our loyal readers know, we have been teaming up with North Shore Animal League America for nearly two years now, helping them raise further awareness for pet adoption. With all of your help, we have been able to support North Shore’s admirable efforts and aid in finding homes for numerous pets throughout the span of our partnership. While we have made great strides, there are still plenty deserving animals at the shelter that are anxiously awaiting a new home, and we are happy to continue to do our part in helping spread the word.

North Shore Animal League America is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. For over 70 years, North Shore has been rescuing animals and advocating their proper care. Since opening in 1944, the organization has saved the lives of over 1,000,000 cats, dogs, kittens and puppies.

The shelter is located in Port Washington, New York, where it facilitates animal rescue and adoptions, as well as plays a lead role in the no-kill movement. North Shore Animal League America continues to innovate better and more sustainable ways to care for pets, in order to create a brighter future for animals everywhere.

Even if you don’t live in the area, you can still contact North Shore Animal League, and they can guide you to the closest no-kill rescue shelter in your area for a similar dog or even arrange travel arrangements. If you have a friend you think would be interested, pass these articles on as we hope to continue to find loving, suitable homes for even more pets.

With their vision, “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate, permanent homes.” North Shore Animal League America continues to make a positive difference in the lives of countless animals.

Now…time to introduce the true star of the week…Hunter!

Hunter is an adorable, 8-½-year-old Yellow Labrador mix. He was fortunate enough to have been rescued by the staff at North Shore from his previously unsuitable living conditions in Tennessee. Hunter has a beautiful, soft, short coat of creamy yellow and white fur. He also has a big, goofy smile that lights up any room he wanders into. Not surprisingly, Hunter has a very friendly disposition, and he absolutely loves to receive head rubs from his two-legged friends.

Stemming from his roots, it is not surprising that Hunter is a well-behaved, big-hearted dog. Labs, in particular, are known for being one of the best four-legged companions that us two-legged folks could ask for. In line with Hunter’s behavior, labs are commonly very easy to train. They often show a strong desire to please their owners and will listen to commands if it means they will earn some love and affection (and maybe even a few treats).

Rosie Tombolo, a Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Hunter is a playful and lively senior. He gets along well with other dogs and cats and enjoys going for walks and playing fetch.”

Moreover, Hunter is one of those dogs you can tell has a big, gentle heart just by looking at him. His warmth and joy is infectious, making him the perfect addition to any suitable home. At 8-½ years old, Hunter is ready to find a loving home where he can make memories that will last a lifetime. With a smile like his, Hunter will undoubtedly bring smiles to the faces of his family members every day.
