UPDATE: Great news as Monty has been adopted already! He found a wonderful new home this weekend shortly after we featured him on the Movie TV Tech Geeks Adopt Me section. Check out for more great pets looking for a home.

Once again, we here at MovieTVTechGeeks are pleased to introduce another adoptable pet that is anxiously waiting to find their forever home. As our loyal readers know, we have been teaming up with North Shore Animal League America to raise awareness for pet adoption, as well as find families for as many deserving adoptable pets as we possibly can. With your support, we have been able to find homes for numerous animals – both cats and dogs – already and we are excited to continue doing so!

Even if you don’t live in the area, you can still contact North Shore Animal League, and they can guide you to the closest no-kill rescue shelter in your area for a similar dog or even arrange travel arrangements. If you have a friend you think would be interested, pass these articles on as we are working even harder this year to get even more pets adopted than last year.

North Shore Animal League America, which is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. Since 1944, the organization has strived towards achieving its ultimate vision: “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate permanent homes.”

To date, North Shore has helped find homes for over 1,000,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. With their main headquarters in Port Washington, New York, North Shore provides crucial resources such as a pet adoption center, a pet health center that offers affordable veterinary care and much more.

Now…time to introduce the cutie of the week…Monty!

Just 7-month old, Monty is an adorable Border Collie/Shepherd mix pup. While she is still very young, she has already been on quite the journey. In fact, she was rescued by North Shore from all the way in Thailand! Since being brought to North Shore, Monty has proven to be a kind, big-hearted dog. She has a notably calm personality and gets along well with most other four-legged furry friends.

Generally, Shepherd’s are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and energy. They are often their happiest when given a task, such as fetching a Frisbee or showing off all of the tricks they have been taught. They make excellent family pets, as they love to tag along for a day at the park or at the beach. Since Monty is going to be a fairly large girl, it is suggested that she gets 30-60 minutes of exercise a day at the very least, as she will need an opportunity to expend her innate energy.

Rachel Rudman, a Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Monty is still a puppy, she will need an adopter who is willing to work with her to learn basic commands and go through obedience training.”

The staff at North Shore suggests that Monty go to a home that has a fenced-in backyard. This will ensure that Monty gets the outdoor playtime she needs to truly thrive and be at her best. Based on her incredibly friendly demeanor, Monty would be a great fit for a family with young children and would make an excellent playmate for her younger two-legged family members.

Moreover, Monty has many years ahead of her that will undoubtedly be filled with joy, laughs and love. She is ready to form a lifelong bond with the family that opens both their door, and their hearts, to her. Being the special girl she is, Monty will bring a unique spark and light to her future forever home.

Another Great Dog Looking For A New Home

Rubi adopt me rescue pitbull mix mttg

Now…time to introduce the star of this week…Rubi!

Rubi is an adorable, 2-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Boxer mix. She is a mid-sized dog, with a light brown/orange and white coat of fur. Fortunately, North Shore’s staff was able to give Rubi the opportunity to find the loving home she deserves by rescuing her from unsuitable living conditions in Tennessee. Shown through her heart-warming smile, Rubi is an incredibly friendly dog and loves to meet new people. She is also very well behaved. Rubi has been trained to walk on a leash, and she is also housebroken, which means she knows to do her business outside.

Like most Pitbulls, Rubi has a big heart and will make a great addition to any suitable home. This is why it is important that people read up on the Pitbull breed, as there is (unfortunately) a lot of misleading and/or inaccurate information out there about them. If you haven’t already, check out our previous Fact v. Fiction article on Pitbulls, which dispels some of the myths surrounding the breed, as well as outlines some of their amazing characteristics.

Stemming from her various roots, it is not surprising that Rubi has an infectious spirit and lively energy. From her Boxer side, Rubi has shown to be an intelligent pup, who is both loyal and alert. Boxers have become known for their tendency to form very strong bonds with their owners, which Rubi will inevitably do once she has found her perfect, forever home.

Rosie Tombolo, the Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Rubi enjoys playtime outside of the home with respectful, similar sized dogs!”

Based on Rubi’s active spirit and innate strength, the staff at North Shore recommends that she go to a home with children (if any) who are over the age of 12. While she gets along with other (respectful) dogs, Rubi would do best in a home where she is the only dog around. Since she is looking to form a lifelong bond with her new family, she wants to be the center of attention (in terms of four-legged family members)!

A sweet girl on the inside and an adorable pup on the out, Rubi is ready to start the next chapter of her life. With her big heart, Rubi will surely bring plenty of love, joy and laughter to her forever home.

If you have previous dog experience and are currently looking for a new canine companion, Rubi is for you! If you are interested in adopting Rubi, please e-mail RachaelR@animalleague.org.
