UPDATE July 17, 2017: Beau has found a great new home, and we couldn’t be more excited for him. We knew it wouldn’t take long for someone to scoop up this adorable dog. Don’t forget to keep checking our Adopt Me section as there’s more great pets ready for a great new home!
What better way to end off the month of June than to introduce an adorable pup that is available for adoption? Once again, we are back with our weekly “Adopt Me” feature. As our loyal readers know, we have been teaming up with North Shore Animal League America for about two years now, helping raise awareness for pet rescue and adoption. By featuring a pet every week – both cats and dogs – we have been able to find homes for dozens of deserving, adoptable animals
North Shore Animal League America is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. For over 70 years, North Shore has been rescuing animals and advocating their proper care. Since opening in 1944, the organization has saved the lives of over 1,000,000 cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies.
The shelter is located in Port Washington, New York, where it facilitates animal rescue and adoptions, as well as plays a lead role in the no-kill movement. North Shore Animal League America continues to innovate better and more sustainable ways to care for pets, in order to create a brighter future for animals everywhere.
Even if you don’t live in the area, you can still contact North Shore Animal League, and they can guide you to the closest no-kill rescue shelter in your area for a similar dog or even arrange travel arrangements. If you have a friend you think would be interested, pass these articles on as we are working even harder this year to get even more pets adopted than last year.
With their vision, “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate, permanent homes.” North Shore Animal League America continues to make a positive difference in the lives of countless animals.
Please help us give a warm welcome to…Beau!
Just 5 months old, Beau is an adorable, male Great Dane/Shepherd mix. He was fortunate enough to be rescued by the staff at North Shore from his previously unsuitable living conditions in Georgia. Beau is a loveable teenage dog loves to play and be active. Largely due to his inherent playful spirit, Beau has proven to get along very well with both children and other large dogs.
Generally, Shepherd’s are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and energy. They are often their happiest when given a task, such as fetching a Frisbee or showing off all of the tricks they have been taught. They make excellent family pets, as they love to tag along for a day at the park or at the beach. Since Beau is going to be a fairly large boy, it is suggested that he gets 30-60 minutes of exercise a day at the very least, as he will need an opportunity to expend his innate energy.
Rachael Rudman, a Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Beau would do best with a family with prior puppy training experience and who are willing to work with his high energy level by exercising him daily.”
Moreover, being the young pup he is, Beau has many joy-filled years ahead of him. He is more than ready to start creating lifelong memories with a family who welcomes him into their home and their hearts. Seeing as he is still learning and growing into the incredible dog he is destined to be, now is the perfect time for Beau to be welcomed into his forever home.
If you have been searching for a large mixed breed that loves to play with toys and receive belly rubs, Beau is your pup.
