Once again, we are back with our weekly “Adopt Me” pet feature. Alongside our friends at North Shore Animal League America, we here at Movie TV Tech Geeks have been working hard to raise awareness for pet adoption. By featuring a pet every week – cats and dogs – we have been able to help find loving homes for countless animals. This week, with the help of an adorable pup, we are excited to continue to shine a spotlight on pet adoption and the admirable work being done at North Shore Animal League America!

Even if you don’t live in the area, you can still contact North Shore Animal League, and they can guide you to the closest no-kill rescue shelter in your area for a similar dog or even arrange travel arrangements. If you have a friend you think would be interested, pass these articles on as we are working even harder this year to get even more pets adopted than last year.

North Shore Animal League America, which is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. Since 1944, the organization has strived towards achieving its ultimate vision: “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate permanent homes.”

To date, North Shore has helped find homes for over 1,000,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. With their main headquarters in Port Washington, New York, North Shore provides crucial resources such as a pet adoption center, a pet health center that offers affordable veterinary care and much more.

Now…it’s time to introduce the star of the week…Costello!

Just one year old, Costello is a handsome male Lab mix. His soft fur coat is mainly black, but he does have some white patches on his chest. Costello was fortunate enough to be rescued by the staff at North Shore from unsuitable living conditions in Tennessee. Despite being a young dog, still developing his personality and behavior, Costello has already proven to be a very gentle soul. He is notably social with other four-legged friends and loves to be in the company of his fellow dogs.

Stemming from his various roots, it is not surprising that Costello is a well-behaved, big-hearted dog. Labs, in particular, are known for being one of the best four-legged companions that us two-legged folks could ask for. Labs are commonly very easy to train. They often show a strong desire to please their owners and will listen to commands if it means they will earn some love and affection (and maybe even a few treats). As Costello continues to learn and grow, he will undoubtedly demonstrate his innate Lab-related traits.

Rosie Tombolo, a Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Since Costello arrived at North Shore Animal League America our Pet Behavior tea has been working to teach him not only basic commands but also how to interact with humans. He is slowly learning how to receive and give affection to his two-legged friends.”

While at North Shore, Costello has learned how to walk well on a leash and is currently in the midst of being house broken (which means that he is learning to do his business outside). The staff at North Shore recommends that Costello go to a home with children (if any) over the age of 16. In addition, it is strongly recommended that Costello go to a home that already has a dog in the family, as he would greatly benefit from being around a dog who can help him explore and settle in to his new home environment.

Moreover, Costello is a young pup with many joy-filled years ahead of him. His adorable appearance is matched with a loving heart and gentle personality, making him an ideal four-legged companion for almost any family.
