Breezy Tells Karrueche “Don’t be a Thot”

I am not quite sure why Chris Brown feels the need to give advice to anyone on anything period, but he seems to have some “words of wisdom” for his former flame Karrueche Tran. It is super apparent that he is keeping tabs on his ex, you know, since she left him early this month because of his secret love child named Royalty with some model.

Tran recently posted some juicy pictures of herself on Instagram that did what she more than likely intended for them to do- Get her ex’s attention. During her recent trip in Miami with fellow hottie Christina Milian, she was obviously feeling herself and wanted the whole world to know so she posted some ass shots in her tiny winy bikini.

Brown, of course, got wind of the pictures and had these words for her:

“Thirst trap 101 (smiley face). Continue to be a lady beautiful…. U are perfect… Don’t let the Thot form from anger”

Hmmmm, sounds like a big brother giving his sweet little sister advice about the world. I kind of get why he is saying it but come on, Breezy, just leave the girl alone and stop trolling her IG. It’s clear that he still wants her and clear she has moved on.

Speaking of Karrueche, she recently abruptly ended her interview with Iyanla Vanzant for her OWN TV show Iyanla Fix My Life. The story goes that she was told it would be positive and it apparently was far from it. She was asked about her relationship with Chris Brown and if she slept with him as soon as they met because he was a superstar and Karrueche told her that it was months before they had sex. Iyanla didn’t believe her I guess and, for the sake of “good TV,” kept prying.

Iyanla also asked the question all of us wanted to know- why the hell did she date Brown after he beat Rihanna and turned around and cheated with her. At this point, it is reported that her manager ended the interview and made Iyanla and the crew leave. But don’t worry, we will still get the skinny on everything that went down because the crew was invited back into the house a few hours later, you know, after everyone calmed down. Plus, let’s be real, it’s Oprah’s network. Who’s gonna kick Oprah out of their house and get away with it?

Raven Symone Defends UniVison Host Fired for calling Michelle Obama an Ape

Raven Symone has shown just how much of a sellout she truly is. In a guest anchor spot on The View this week, this chick had the nerve to say that the comments made by Rodner Figueroa weren’t as bad as everyone is making it because the truth is,

“some people just look like animals.”

On the show, host Rosie Perez broke down what many black people already know about a majority of Latin people.

“There is a secret in the Latin community, specifically the Caribbean, South American, Central American Latin community. They are very racist. They never want to be in the same group as black people.”

For whatever reason, this caused Symone to give her lousy two cents after Perez called Figueroa a racist saying, “But was he saying it racist-like? Because he said he voted for her later. And I don’t think he was saying it racist,”

Perez further explained her point by saying that racism is a huge problem in the Hispanic community and I guess Symone just had to say something because that’s when she opened her mouth and said,

“Not Michelle Obama. Michelle, don’t fire me from this right now, but some people do look like animals…So can I be mad if someone called me Toucan Sam?”

First of all Raven Symone, no one really cares about you or what you think. You have not the remotest importance in the world in which we live like Michelle Obama, you know, the first lady of the United States. Secondly, being compared to an Ape (which black people have continuously for centuries been likened to) and a colorful, playful bird are not the same thing. Just do us all a favor and stop talking… like forever.

MoNique Gets Paid by HBO For Bessie Biopic

MoNique is still in the spotlight and this time, she lets it be known that her most recent project, the HBO Queen Latifiah lead biopic entitled Bessie, brought in the big bucks for her part in the movie.

According to the star, who claimed last month that she was blackballed in Hollywood and is why we haven’t really heard from her in five years, HBO paid her more for Bessie than she has been paid her whole career. This is an interesting claim because it means that she either has never really been “paid” or they really gave her what she feel she’s worth. I mean it is kind of hard to believe that they paid her that much but then it comes down to what you think she gets paid on the regular. I mean, she has been around for a while so… it’s just a big statement.

But nonetheless, good for her. It seems she is “playing the game” this time around too, going out and promoting the film which she was accused of not doing for the Oscar winning film Precious, which she won the best supporting actress award. Just remember MoNique, if you’re making up high numbers, the IRS watches gossip columns like ours for this kind of info…I just don’t wanna see you going the Wesley Snipes route.

On this week’s Big Bang Theory, Sheldon received his copy of the latest issue of Scientific American, a magazine that did a piece on the paper Sheldon and Leonard wrote together. Amy read through the article and said that Leonard wasn’t mentioned in it.

In their apartment Sheldon tried to drop hints to Leonard that his name wasn’t mentioned in the Scientific American article about their paper. He then confessed that he was mentioned in the article but Leonard was not. Penny looked at the article and tried to comfort Leonard by shopping online for things he would like. Then Sheldon knocked on Penny’s door looking for Leonard. He told Leonard he had called the reporter who wrote the article and found out the reporter’s editor chose to only mention the lead scientist on the project that inspired the paper and that lead scientist was Sheldon. When Leonard objected to this by saying the paper was his idea Sheldon confessed that the reporter said he had been following Sheldon’s career for awhile.

Howard and Bernadette drove Raj to Howard’s mother’s house and thanked him for agreeing to help them with the belongings of Howard’s late mother. Bernadette said that Howard was having a hard time letting go of his mother’s belongings. When they arrived at his mother’s house they called out for Stuart, who had been living there at the time of her death. Stuart then told them the power was out in the house because a transformer blew up on their block.

Howard then became upset that all the food his mom had in her freezer was defrosting. Since these were the last foods she ever made he was emotional about losing them. Howard then said that they were going to eat all the food in the freezer and Bernadette exclaimed that there was close to 20 pounds of food in the freezer. Howard then suggested inviting everyone to the house for dinner because it would be like his mom was feeding all of them one last time.

Raj helped Bernadette and Howard heat up the food from his mother’s freezer and Howard remarked that his mom always thought she could cure any illness with her cooking. Then Leonard and Penny arrived at the house and were let in by Stuart. Then Sheldon and Amy arrived. Howard and Bernadette then came into the living room and told everyone that it was not going to be a sad occasion. Amy offered to help in the kitchen but Bernadette told her that wasn’t necessary and that everyone could get comfortable. Penny and Amy then stated that they were there for Howard and that Sheldon and Leonard better behave themselves.

At the dinner table they discussed the fact that of all the food on the table, none of it was a vegetable. Raj then proposed a topic of discussion for the meal. They talked about gender equality and about the fact that these days more women read comic books than they ever did in the past. The conversation then turned into Leonard and Sheldon arguing about the Scientific American article with Sheldon implying execution of an idea is more important than the inspiration behind it, which Leonard objected to. Howard then said as an engineer he leads more towards execution than inspiration.

The argument between Leonard and Sheldon then escalated. Bernadette scolded them and told both of them to leave the dinner table and go into the living room with her. The gang then listened to Bernadette screaming at Leonard and Sheldon and telling them to put their argument aside. She then told them to go back in the dining room and be good or neither of them was getting dessert. Howard asked the gang if they noticed that Bernadette sounded like his late mom and they denied it vehemently.

Sheldon found an article online about his and Leonard’s paper that Leonard’s name was mentioned in but the gang was too sleepy to care. The iPad, which revolutionized consumer computing by popularizing the tablet form, is currently at a crossroads due to slow sales which in turn is due to a saturated tablet market. Despite Apple’s last quarter surge in sales, the iPad was clearly the underperformer.

The iPad might be considered a victim of its own success as many people still use a first or second-generation device to browse and play games. The iPad is also in competition with almost every electronic manufacturer with the right to the Android operating system. Another problem is that people, especially professionals want to have their cake and eat it too. They want their tablets to be more useful, not just for browse and play, but to do real work. As well-regarded as the iPad may be for consumer purposes, many critics still consider iOS and Android tablets as merely toys– severely limited in terms of productivity.

The new hybrid market is also slowly eating into Apple’s market share. Despite being ridiculed on desktops, Microsoft’s Windows 8 is gradually being appreciated in touch screen enabled hybrid devices because they offer the enterprise the best of both worlds. Seeing this new trend in computing, Apple is now gearing the iPad towards the Enterprise and has a new iPad version for business in the works. Will it put iPad sales back on track?

As mentioned, many professionals look down on tablets as consumer devices great to pass the time but unsuitable for work. Aside from small screens, people who tried to use Android and iOS-based tablets for productivity have been hampered by mediocre office apps that still couldn’t match the desktop experience. It’s simply difficult to write nor draw on a purely touch-based interface. The best work applications for tablets so far has been for email and presentations, but even presentations are limited on an iPad’s ten-inch screen unless streamed through a projector during board meetings.

Either Microsoft just couldn’t leave its Windows ecosystem or has seen the wisdom of using tablets for work through Windows, Microsoft released the touch-centric Windows 8 and later Windows 8.1. Along with Windows 8 came the Microsoft Surface. We all know Microsoft Surface is a Windows-based tablet with all the capabilities of a desktop or laptop computer. It’s a near-perfect blend of tablet and desktop computing, and many people who have ever used the Surface, especially its newest iteration the Surface Pro 3, have expressed satisfaction. The Surface itself stemmed from years of product research in Microsoft which started from Windows XP for pen computing (Microsoft and some other vendors already had tablets since the early 2000s but just weren’t ready for primetime); which led to the original version of the Surface, a near table-sized touch-screen computer for business and collaboration. The surface was later rebranded as a tablet. And as of the Windows 10 conference last January, the product goes full circle with a large screen version directed at the enterprise to be used for board meetings and collaboration.

Apple is headed towards such a direction but not as large. Apple wants to change the iPad’s image from a consumer device to a serious production tool. It’s been long rumored that Apple is working on what critics humorously call a ‘maxipad’, a larger screen iPad, despite Steve Jobs saying that 10 inches was the perfect size for a tablet. Well, they did relent to creating a smaller version which is the iPad Mini, which actually became a hit. Smaller than a 10-inch tablet but larger than an awkward 7-incher. Steve can sometimes be wrong and now with Steve gone, they’re certainly free to build something larger. The grapevine suggested that it is a 12.9 inch device.

The maxipad’s larger screen would give professionals 60% more screen real-estate to work with to create important documents, display larger presentations, see more on a spreadsheet and probably retouch or create graphics a lot easier than they could with an iPad Air. But why a tablet? It is somewhat a strange move for Apple to have business professionals carry a 12.9 inch sized touch screen around instead of a full laptop. Surely people would rather have a Macbook instead of carrying an oversized iPad and a separate Bluetooth or wired keyboard. The Surface Pro, along with other Windows 8-spawned hybrids such as the Lenovo Yoga, ASUS Transformer and Acer Aspire Switch fit the bill just fine. These machines that can handle touch-based and legacy apps, most notably Microsoft Office, commonly used for work are slowly but surely eating into the iPad’s market share. In fairness though, without physical keyboards, the Surface and its hybrid brethren can be just as ungainly as an iPad.

Perhaps the large screen iPad is simply following the competition’s example. A 12.9 inch iPad would surely trump Windows 8 hybrids because they have smaller screens. Apple’s minimalist philosophy eschews including a physical keyboard and mouse because there’s always one lying around in the office. The new iPad, since it’s larger will have more ports (for keyboard, mouse and storage) than its smaller counterparts. Apple thinks this will work on the enterprise. A design philosophy the general public needs to hear from Apple (to be believed) when the maxipad gets released.

Apart from having a larger screen, the maxipad and its smaller brethren will be given business apps courtesy of Apple’s recent partnership with IBM (Tim should expect a visit from Steve this Christmas). This means that Apple is indeed dead serious about entering the enterprise. Aside from IBM’s apps, Microsoft’s move to cross-platform support gave iOS real Office apps so a larger screen iPad would be a good idea. Since the 12.9 inch iPad is still a rumour, it’s safe to enter the realm of speculation. Apple could well be entering the realm of hybrids and the new iPad might just be an improved version of the Surface with its own touch keyboard cover. Apple might be able to skirt some patents with some form of innovation. Would the iPad fan base like the idea? Would the enterprise take the iPad seriously? Will Tim Cook be able to bend reality as much as Steve could and convince people to carry slabs instead of tabs? If all answers come out as Yes, Apple will have scratched the Surface.

Indiana Pacers Hot Streak may keep Paul George Sidelined for Rest of Season

After his horrific injury—a severally broken leg in a Team USA scrimmage—Indiana Pacers superstar Paul George was originally ruled out for the entire 2014-2015 NBA season. Well, after looking good in rehab, the Pacers announced that their star may be able to get some time coming off the bench beginning in March. The plan was just to get some of George’s confidence back without risking further injury. Well, all of a sudden the Pacers are the hottest team in the NBA; and now plans are changing.

The Pacers were out of playoff contention for much of the season, but as of late they have really come alive. The Pacers are 8-2 in their last 10 games, and now sit on the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference.

With the Pacers recent hot streak, George feels that he may be better of delaying his return until the start of next season in order to minimize the team’s distractions as they prepare for the playoffs.

George’s return has been almost as anticipated as the original “The Return,” when Derrick Rose came back from his ACL injury; however, the word around the organization is that George is not ready to come back anyways.

One teammate described George as “not even close to 100 percent” when asked about the possibility that he return this season. And when asked about the “around mid-March” return that George had originally planned for himself, Pacers assistant coach Dan Burke said, “That was more, I thought, adrenaline instead of brains. The heart always wants more than the mind realizes. You just got to be careful.”

Even George admitted that a return this season looks unlike: “For sure, that’s always been the plan,” said George when asked if he would still be returning to the court this month. “It would have been a miracle. I wouldn’t say ‘miracle,’ but it definitely would have been ahead of schedule to come back and play this year. That was the dream.”

Sorry Pacers fans. Looks like you’ll have to wait a bit longer to see Paul George in his new No. 13 jersey.

San Francisco’s Chris Borland is the latest young NFL player to walk away from professional football. Borland was not just some guy. He led the 49ers in tackles last year as a rookie. By all reports he was a budding superstar, especially with Patrick Willis‘ abrupt retirement leaving more playing time for the kid out of Wisconsin. Borland and Willis are among several guys who have had enough of the violent game. While each man has stated their own reasons for walking away from a game that pays out millions, Borland has been the most direct in his reasoning.

Borland spoke with ESPN’s Outside the Lines, “I just honestly want to do what’s best for my health,” said Borland, who met with prominent concussion researchers before making his decision. “From what I’ve researched and what I’ve experienced, I don’t think it’s worth the risk.” This line of thinking is far different from the prevailing thought in the NFL from just a few years ago and from the majority of players today. But that tide may be turning even if slightly.

If you did a survey of current NFL players and they answered honestly, I feel like 80 percent would say they would give ten years off their life for the rewards that come from banging heads together on the football field. These guys know that the best money they will ever make is in the NFL, so while the thought of living a shorter life in exchange for more money sounds crazy, they can surely make a case for it. Would they rather live to be 70 having never owned a mansion or fancy car? Or would they prefer to kick the bucket around 60 years old with memories of flying across the country on team planes and spending the off season on an exclusive island? Many would take the latter choice. The number of years each player would be willing to give up is the only variable.

Chris Borland isn’t willing to give up any years to the dangers of the NFL. He is getting out while the getting is good. He flat stated that he wants to live a long healthy life. That is as worthy a goal as winning four Super Bowls. I’m sure he wouldn’t want a long life of dumpster diving, but I think this young man will do pretty well for himself outside of The League. He has sense enough to want to protect his health so he will do fine in whatever career he chooses. That doesn’t have to be totally away from football or sports either. However, it would be a little hypocritical to coach other football players that are facing the dangers that made him give up the game.

If any player is going to give up on an NFL career, I would say that linebacker is right up there with running back as positions with more to lose than anyone. Every player, except the QB, can get beat up pretty good during a game. But running backs and linebackers get a lot of head on collisions just by the nature of the position. It’s impossible to estimate the number of concussions that Borland has saved himself by retiring from the Niners. But concussed he would have been.

Do we have to worry about all the best and brightest leaving the NFL for more peaceful events like meditation, weed expos in Colorado, and signing up for the Peace Corps? I wouldn’t bet on it. I don’t see a ton of guys giving up dreams that have been in the works since many were in elementary school balling. There are guys who don’t know what else to do and will struggle to find meaningful careers once they can no longer perform well enough to make a 53 man roster. These players certainly are not going to walk away voluntarily as young men because of long term health effects that may or may not catch up to them specifically.

What I do see happening is the younger players of the football world being diverted to safer sports like baseball, basketball, and even golf. Parents are getting the message about brain trauma and are at least considering the odds of their kids ending up like Junior Seau and Dave Duerson. That’s a dark vision for any parent, no matter how much they love to see their kid cross the goal line.

I love football and have a strong dislike for baseball, which I find extremely boring. What the hell takes so long about throwing the damn ball pitch after pitch? If I had a young son wanting to play sports, I would steer him toward baseball rather than my favorite sport of football though. The game is safer long and short term. By the way, MLB has a real union unlike the NFL’s weak version that gets run over time after time by The League.

My hats off to both Chris Borland and Patrick Willis. It takes a lot of stones to quit an NFL job. The money won’t be as good, the thrills not as high in their next gig, and some idiots might even question these guys’ toughness (ridiculous). Willis was already feeling the effects of pro football after finishing his eighth season in 2014. His feet  problems were more than he wanted to endure going forward. Borland saw the light before he had any major issues. The evidence of former players’ struggles was enough to convince him. The NFL is worse off without their talent as are the 49ers, but I have a feeling these two players will be better off in the long run and that’s hard to type and tough to swallow.

THE WALKING DEAD Season 5 Ep 14 Recap: Spend Cut & Run

The title for this week’s episode of The Walking Dead has me puzzled as I’m not sure what meaning ‘Spend’ holds. The opening is a scene of Father Gabriel tearing pages out of a Bible after seeing a nice note from a townie saying how blessed they are to have him in Alexandria. Gabriel shows his true colors once again near the end of this episode.

There was a good deal of hope at the start of the show as Daryl rolled around on a motorcycle once again. Noah, with aspirations on being a student of architecture, asks Reg to teach him about his craft. The wall builder seems more than happy to mentor the young man and gives him a journal to keep up with his teachings. This journal turns out to be one of the least used in the history of journals. This is where the show always sets up giving that little glimmer of hope, so it’s gotten to when the one person who’s becoming hopeful or the moral compass of the show, I know they’ll be dead by the end of the hour. It keeps us coming back, but man have they really been packing on the punches this season!

The big plot was another supply run as Tara, Glenn, Aiden, Eugene, Noah, and Nicholas (Dickless gate guard) head out to get some power grid replacement parts. Eugene is worthless, Aiden is a nut job, and Noah is still hobbled, so this isn’t the best group to send out. Or maybe it is if you want to thin the herd of the less useful folks. If that was the case then it ended up working pretty well.

Rick strolls by Jessie’s house to find someone has vandalized an owl statue. She says it’s no big deal, but the local constable can’t just let something like that go and he tells her about the broken window theory. Keep the little things in check and bigger crimes won’t have a chance to materialize is his thinking. Basically, she could call Rick if her curtain blew open and he’d be more than happy to explain how blowing things can be a good thing sometimes.

The supply run group arrives at a warehouse where a large number of walkers are trapped behind a big gate inside. The cowardly Eugene is checking boxes for the specific electronic part they need along with Tara. They luck up and find the parts, but things get sideways when Aiden is attacked by a walker with bulletproof gear. He smartly shoots the thing in the leg. His next move isn’t as smart as he shoots the zombie again and hits an explosive device attached to the walker’s armor. The explosion sends Aiden into a splintered mess on a pallet rack apparently killing the rat bastard. The blast also opened up the gate that was the only thing between a pile of roamers and Glenn’s crew.


Tara was also badly hurt in the explosion and Eugene is charged with protecting her. Glenn, Noah, and Nicholas are going to try and get to Aiden who actually survived the explosion, but is pinned to the pallet rack in a nasty fashion. A bullet to the guy’s head would have been more merciful. Even if he survives, his body is mangled to the point that Alexandria’s drunk doctor couldn’t patch him up in my medical opinion.


Meanwhile Abraham is helping with some wall construction when walkers come out of the woods to wreak havoc. These Alexandrians are pretty bad at dealing with walkers. It’s as if they have only seen the creatures on rare occasions and their response is to cut and run after shooting wildly at them. Oh, and leave behind anyone not close enough to safely help. Big Abe saves a lady that was going to be left to be eaten. He was so impressive that the guy that was in charge of the construction crew told Deanna that Abraham should be in charge of that project. (Check out the video sequence of bad ass Abraham going into military mode below)

Glenn and company's attempt at saving Aiden fails miserably as they can't pull him free from his death trap. Nicholas is the first to give up as he flees the scene and Glenn has to run as well at the last second. Aiden died one of the worst deaths I have witnessed on 'The Walking Dead' and that's saying something. He probably deserved it since he and Dickless were responsible for the deaths of "the good people" they lost on a supply run prior to Team Grimes arrival.

Sam wasn't deterred much by Carol's threats against his life last week. He is found hiding in her closet and wants more cookies. She gets him to steal some chocolate and later finds out that he broke the owl creation at his mom's house. Oh, and he wants Carol to get him a gun. It's becoming clearer that this kid has seen some bad stuff, most likely the beating of his mama by his alcoholic dad. Carol can see the signs pretty easily as she has been in that predicament herself. Back at the warehouse Glenn, Noah, and Nicholas wind up trapped in a revolving door with zombies on both sides. This is as bad as it gets. Well almost. It gets worse when they have to crack the door open enough to reach for some more ammo. That causes Noah to get yanked out by the legs as Glenn can't hold on. Noah probably wished he was still back at Grady Memorial Hospital once he started getting his face ripped apart right in front of Glenn. Aiden's death was horrible and Noah's fate was just as bad. Noah's character had a very short run on the show, but before we mourn the little guy let's remember that it was his fault that Tyreese died so....

Nicholas got free of the door as Noah was turned into a bloody mess. He tried to get Eugene to leave the scene in the van, but the hillbilly pseudo-scientist has grown a set of balls in the past hour. He stands up to a guy more cowardly than himself and holds him off long enough for Glenn to make it back to knock out Nicholas. It's going to be interesting to see what happens when the former Congress critter finds out her boy is dead and I'm sure Nicholas' story is going to be dramatically different than Glenn's. Gabriel is still the same man that locked his congregation out of their church to save himself. He has a talk with Deanna about Team Grimes. He basically calls Rick and his people the devil and says they can't be trusted. Maggie overhears the conversation as the preacher man trashes the people that are responsible for saving his sorry ass!

I'm not sure this warning is going to mean much. After this week's episode, I am fully confident that Carl and Judith could probably take over this town at the drop of a hat. The Alexandrians are simply incompetent. They have a wall and good luck, that's about it. Carol has to tell Rick her theory about Jessie's husband Pete. Her evidence is that "she just knows." That is likely good enough for Rick. It doesn't take much to convict a person in his eyes nowadays. Carol's advice, "You're gonna have to kill him." That's her go-to move after all. When in doubt, just kill em. I don't think Deanna would condone having the constable just start whacking people who have not been proven guilty in some kind of court. She may have little choice in the matter though. Team Grimes is taking more power every day in Alexandria. I look forward to next week and how Deanna will change once she finds out about her boy's death. She may lose much of her trust in this new group. I also look forward to the death of father Gabriel. I hope his is one in which he is hung out to dry just as he has done to others. I don't care if Rick hacked a man to death in a church. If he and his people saved my life, he is a saint, period.

Some of the best character development happened in this episode too which is definitely building towards what we can only expect to be a very very powerful season finale to a very powerful season. I'm ready for the Ricktocracy to return for Alexandria.
  • Eugene: Wow, finally we're seeing what kind of balls the man with the mullet has! After claiming he wasn't combat ready, and stumbling at the blocks when they were inside the warehouse, Eugene really showed his worth when he got an injured Tara out of the building and then saved Glenn and Nicholas by drawing the walkers away with loud music.
  • Aidan: Sadly Aidan took until his dying moments to show any sign of development, but with his dying breaths he admitted that the others in the supply run group had died because his and Nicholas' actions, saying "it was us. The others before, they didn't panic, we did. It was us."
  • Noah: Noah had always been a nice enough character, adding a decent amount to the group in the short space of time he had been with them. Sadly in "Spend" he showed that he really wanted to commit and contribute to society within Alexandria, but unfortunately although he was willing, the fates had other plans.
  • Nicholas: Well, we didn't learn a lot of good things about Nicholas, but he did show his true colors when he was more than happy to abandon his injured friend and then leave Glenn and Noah for dead in order to save his own skin. I truly hope there is some sort of repercussion for his actions, particularly now that Rick is in charge of law enforcement.
  • Gabriel: Just like Nicholas, we didn't learn an awful lot of good things about Gabriel, but he did show that even though he chose to leave members of his congregation locked outside his church to succumb to walkers, he still has some weird belief that Rick and the group are worse than him. Thankfully I don't think Deanna will take Gabriel's word to mean much, after all, how can you truly believe a group with a baby could be all that bad?

This is unbelievable to me. Who the hell are you to think that you have the right, first of all, to request such a thing, and then to secondly, ask it of people who are looking to you to lead them to salvation, not the fucking poor house. How dare Creflo Dollar put out such a request.

Being a former church girl (I mean like all day everyday at church girl) I have seen men manipulate the people they lead and this is the ultimate. The thing about it though is that he obviously feels that he has the right to do such a thing.  And to package the over the top request in the form of it being a necessity for his ministry to continue “doing good” is disgusting.

This is a fucking joke! 10,000 dollars for a watch. It’s nothing new. There are several watch brands, most notably Rolex that sells for much more than that. But suddenly Apple, a new player in the watch market, presumptuously announces that it’s selling a watch with a 10,000 to 17,000 dollar price tag. The watch is called the Apple Watch Edition; an electronic marvel like many of the company’s products, is encased in 18 karat gold. The most affordable version, the Apple Watch Sport starts at 349 to 399 dollars. The middle version, simply called the Apple Watch starts at 549 to 1099. Given that the Apple Watch Edition is encased in 18k gold, question is, does Apple have the cred and compelling reasons to charge 10,000 to 17,000 dollars for it? Is the watch worth the weight of the gold it’s encased in which many believe is worth half of that?

But can Rolex watches allow you to take calls and receive messages? Can a Constantin monitor your heart rate? Can Tag Heuer watches tell you the weather? Can an Omega watch tell you your girlfriend’s mood when it tells you you’re late for your date? Busy, wealthy bachelors could sure use the latter feature. Danger, my solid gold Apple sense is tingling. Need to get flowers.

Seriously, we all know that Apple is now the Rolex of the technology industry. They churn out products with amazing designs, innovative technologies with stark simplicity. Their products such as the iPhone, the iPod, iMacs, iPads and most recently, the Apple Watch have style and class built into them, which allows the company to charge a hefty premium. Not to mention the company’s reputation of quality. It’s also not the first time the company released gold editions of their products targeted at the wealthy. Ten thousand dollars for a gold-encased digital watch with a ton of features? They can charge for that.

The ten thousand dollar price tag for the Apple Watch Edition shouldn’t concern most consumers since it’s clearly targeted at individuals in the upper economic spectrum (In theory, a good stock market app could help busy middle-class professionals to get there and afford an upgrade). The Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport which cost from 349 to 1099 dollars share the same features, with the Edition except for the gold.

But there are Apple fans and even non-fans that do think twice before camping out for days at the nearest Apple Store. Is the Apple watch worth 349 to 17000 dollars? Let’s find out.

First, the Apple Watch takes up Dick Tracy duty by allowing users to answer calls coming from their iPhone. They can see who’s calling and answer by tapping or ignore by simply dropping their wrist. Users can also receive text messages and reply by selecting one of several pre-written messages. Aside from text, users can glance at their emails, flag them as read or unread or junk them immediately. Like mood rings of the 70s, the Apple Watch can notify users of other users’ moods through sending of heartbeats. Whether these heartbeats are actually heartbeats is akin to Thomas Edison saying the crackly voices from the first phonograph was the actual human voice.  Time will tell.

Second, like many wearables in the market, the Apple Watch can be used for fitness via heart rate sensor and accelerometer to monitor body movements. You can only cram so much into a small frame which is the reason the Apple Watch unfortunately has no GPS. The iPhone can transmit location anyway.

Third, the Apple Watch tells time through many stylish and attractive watch faces. As the watch matures, many more custom faces are sure to follow. Aside from time, it tells users of the weather and the temperature. Aside from custom watch faces, other fun and useful apps will pop up from Apple’s Watch Store which could boost the Apple Watch ‘face’ value. Some mainstream apps available include Facebook, Twitter, Shazam, Instagram and WeChat.

Physically, the Apple Watch comes in ‘his and her’ sizes of 1.5 inch and 1.7 inches respectively for all models. Several stylish watch band types will also be available that apart from the casing dictates the price of the watch. The Apple Watch is made of premium materials with the most affordable Apple Watch Sport being made of silver or space gray anodized aluminum with Ion-X glass screen. The midrange Apple Watch is made out of Stainless Steel with a sapphire crystal screen and the Apple Watch Edition features a hardened 18K yellow or rose gold casing a with sapphire crystal screen.

One caveat of the Apple Watch’s is that it’s not independent. A limitation shared by most wearables in the market. The Apple Watch needs a Wi-Fi or data-enabled iPhone to function with all features. A minimum requirement of an iPhone 5 running OS 8.2 is needed to manage the apps that users could see on the watch. Calls and messages are transmitted to the watch.

However, the most debilitating limitation of this product is the deal-breaking 18 hour ‘all-day battery’ life. It’s hard to imagine a watch that can’t display all 24 hours of the day without having to recharge. Surely Apple can do better. The late Steve Jobs would not allow such a travesty to happen or at the very least convince us all at the keynote with his reality-warping gaze that 18 is the new 24.

Hopefully, before the watch releases or a couple of months after that, Apple can significantly extend the battery life; then the watch, with all its features, with all its promise and even a solid gold casing and wristband would be well worth 349 to 17,000 dollars. But that’s just me. For a thousand dollars, many might jump at a device-independent Apple Watch with a minimum 3-day battery life. For fans and early adopters, it’s still up to you. It’s watch and learn.

Get ready for a heavy dose of Mike Ehrmantraut. This week’s installment of Better Call Saul was slap full of the grizzled veteran cop. This is the beauty of this series. Breaking Bad had so many good characters that we only got our beaks wet with many of them. Now this spinoff is devoting lots of screen time to characters like Mike. The reason for his being in New Mexico is laid out as plain as day and it wasn’t a pretty story, but it’s one that made Mike stand out even more as a major player.

The opening scene is a flashback showing Mike arriving in New Mexico via train. Pretty fitting for his old school persona. Dude has been shot and is repairing himself in the train station restroom. His exit from Philly was a nasty one evidently. Most people don’t hop a train across the country after getting a bullet in the shoulder so foul play is obvious. Mike’s no boy scout of course.

Mike visits the lady we saw last week as he waited in his car on the street after his shift ended. She is his daughter in law. Mike’s son, Mattie, was killed in Philadelphia while on the job. He, like his old man, was a police officer. Mattie’s widow wants some answers from Mike and brings up an angry phone call she overheard late one night. She asks Mike if he was on the other end of that call and he denies it. Mike’s a liar when need be.

Mike went to the old stand by for unreported gunshot wounds. That’s right, the local veterinarian. This guy didn’t have to be threatened like in most films. He was glad to take some cash for his services and silence on the matter.

Flashing back to present day, Mike is getting grilled in the holding room by the Philly cops who knocked on his door last episode. If the answers they are searching for are hidden inside Mike’s mundane, “lawyer – lawyer – lawyer” statement, then they would have been in luck. He wants Jimmy McGill and slides the card to his interrogators. Jimmy comes strolling in “like Matlock,” according to one policeman. That’s just the look Jimmy was looking for so mark down another success for the our favorite elder law expert.

The trouble that Mike was running from when he came in on a train bleeding from a gunshot involved his son. He was killed in an ambush and to make things seem even shadier than one cop dead, two of his partners were killed as well. At this point I was leaning toward Mike being the triggerman on the later two killings in a revenge play for his son. It was apparent that the two cops were to blame for Mattie’s demise. That later turned out to be the case.

Jimmy was called in by Mike not so much for his legal skills as he was for being #upforwhatever. Mike asks him to spill some hot coffee on the younger detective so he can snatch his notepad. Jimmy acts above this at first, but eventually does it. He is a man of the people after all. He takes care of his clients!

Mike reviews the notebook and has a sit down with his daughter in law again. He tells her that he was indeed on the line the night she overheard the angry phone call. “It was between me and my son.”

The flashback showing what lead to Mattie’s partners’ death was vintage Mike. He had found out that Hoffman and Fensky murdered Mattie. He set out to even the score by acting drunk and telling the two killers, dressed in full police attire, that he knew what they did. They waited for the bar to close and were gonna whack the drunken Mike. That plan went sideways for the two disgraces to the uniform when they pulled Mike from the squad car to take his life just as they had done his son. Unfortunately for them, Mike went Michael Corleone with the old hidden pistol trick, as he had a gat ready in the back seat of the police car. He took a bullet from one of the killers, but managed to off the two men before they could react properly. Mike had been stone cold sober and this certainly was no half measure.

Mike had come clean to his son’s widow about the events that lead to her husband’s killing. The awful twist was the fact that Mike had advised his son, who was a by the book law man, to go along with Hoffman and Fensky’s dirty deals. The angry phone call was all about Mike convincing his son to debase himself like the rest of the police force. Mike has his son’s blood on his hands because turning dirty didn’t keep Mattie safe. He got killed for nothing and became dirty all at the same time.  This event made Mike a much darker person than he was prior to it I imagine. His guilt and anger shaped a lot of his decisions in the Breaking Bad years.

Mattie’s widow asks Mike who killed Fensky and Hoffman. “You know what happened,” Mike coldly said without admitting a thing legally. This entire episode was devoted to Mike and his story before arriving in New Mexico. We got very little of Saul and that was OK. Mike Ehrmantraut carried the show.

Better Call Saul is just as good as Breaking Bad was in its early stages. I say that without trying to hype a show unnecessarily. I don’t know if it can keep up that promise and pace, but I certainly hope that is the case as the seasons unfold.
