Rita has found a great home already. It didn’t take long after we posted this cutie before a family scooped her up.
To close out the month of July, we are featuring an incredibly cute little pup that is looking for a loving home. As many of our readers know, we feature an adoptable pet – cat or dog – every week. Through our teaming up with North Shore Animal League America, we here at Movie TV Tech Geeks hope to help find homes for deserving pets, as well as raise awareness for pet adoption and shelters.
North Shore Animal League America is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. For over 70 years, North Shore has been rescuing animals and advocating their proper care. Since opening in 1944, the organization has saved the lives of over 1,000,000 cats, dogs, kittens and puppies.
Even if you don’t live in the area, you can still contact North Shore Animal League, and they can guide you to the closest no-kill rescue shelter in your area for a similar dog or even arrange travel arrangements. If you have a friend you think would be interested, pass these articles on as we are working even harder this year to get even more pets adopted than last year.
The shelter is located in Port Washington, New York, where it facilitates animal rescue and adoptions, as well as plays a lead role in the no-kill movement. North Shore Animal League America continues to innovate better and more sustainable ways to care for pets, in order to create a brighter future for animals everywhere.
With their vision, “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate permanent homes.” North Shore Animal League America continues to make a positive difference in the lives of countless animals.
This week we are pleased to introduce…Rita!
At just a year old, Rita is a Cattle dog mix rescued from Kentucky. She is a healthy and active young girl, who would do best in a home that has a fully fenced-in backyard – giving her plenty of room to play. She has lots of energy and loves to play around her fellow canines…as long as they can keep up with her!
Cattle dogs are known for being relatively compact dogs with great agility, strength and endurance. They tend to have a very muscular physical build and are determined when it comes to completing the task at hand. Their high energy and task-driven personalities make them great companions for runs, hikes, bike rides, etc. In addition, many dogs of this breed are big fans of playing games like Frisbee, as they enjoy being given a job to complete.
With proper care and attention, Cattle dogs are often easily trained. They respond well to consistent leadership and in many cases, they can even be taught to be vigilant watchdogs for their owners.
Rosie Tombolo, the Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Rite loves to play with toys that squeak and will give you kisses when you feed her crunchy treats. Some of her favorite activities include sprinting, playing with other dogs, and splashing about in the pool in our dog park.”
The staff at North Shore recommends that Rita go to a house that has children over the age of six. In addition, if there are kids or other canines at home, it is best that they be brought in to North Animal League America beforehand for a meet-and-greet. This will ensure that Rita is comfortable when she is finally brought into her forever home.
Moreover, Rita does not only have lots of energy, she also has lots of love. She is a kind, affectionate dog that has an infectious spark. Her outgoing personality will bring a whole new light to any family that welcomes her with open arms.
