Meet Princess Peach NSALA’s latest adoptable dog ready for a great home 2016 images

Princess Peach has found a home that earns her throne like presence. Another great rescue pet in a loving home.

Another week, another pet we are proud to feature in our ‘Rescue Me’ section. As many of our loyal readers know, we here at Movie TV Tech Geeks have been partnering up with North Shore Animal League America for the past few months. With their help, we have been raising awareness for pet adoption. Every week we feature an adoptable pet – cat or dog – that is anxiously waiting to be welcomed into their forever home.

Even if you don’t live in the area, you can still contact North Shore Animal League, and they can guide you to the closest no-kill rescue shelter in your area for a similar dog or even arrange travel arrangements. If you have a friend you think would be interested, pass these articles on as we are working even harder this year to get even more pets adopted than last year.

North Shore Animal League America is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. For over 70 years, North Shore has been rescuing animals and advocating their proper care. Since opening in 1944, the organization has saved the lives of over 1,000,000 cats, dogs, kittens and puppies.

The shelter is located in Port Washington, New York, where it facilitates animal rescue and adoptions, as well as plays a lead role in the no-kill movement. North Shore Animal League America continues to innovate better and more sustainable ways to care for pets, in order to create a brighter future for animals everywhere.

With their vision, “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate, permanent homes.” North Shore Animal League America continues to make a positive difference in the lives of countless animals.

This week we are introducing an extra special little pup that goes by the name Princess Peach!

Princess Peach is a 3-year-old Chihuahua and Corgi mix. Rescued from Virginia, she is a beautiful little girl, with soft white and orange fur. Her big, pointy ears and adorable little smile will undoubtedly have you falling in love. In addition, her kind and warm personality makes her the perfect furry companion.

Chihuahuas are known for being full of personality and fun. Even though they may come in a tiny package, they are enthusiastic and loving. They often like to create strong bonds with their owners and stay by their side as much as possible. This particular breed is also known for being intelligent and adaptive. They can be very curious and adventurous dogs; therefore, you must keep a good eye on them when away from home, as they can maneuver themselves through even the smallest of escape routes.  Nonetheless, they are incredibly loyal pets who enjoy showing their affection and care for their family.

Being that she is 3 years old, Princess Peach is already full grown and housebroken – meaning she knows to do her business outside. While she may be a pint-sized little pup, she is full of joy and has plenty of love to share.

Rosie Tombolo, the Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Princess Peach loves to take walks and greets everyone she meets with a ton of kisses.” The staff at North Shore further note that Princess Peach would be best suited for a house with children who are over the age of 6. In addition, she would benefit from meeting any other canine housemates prior to being brought home.

Thanks to North Shore Animal League America, Princess Peach has been given the opportunity to live the full life she deserves. She is more-than-ready to begin her next chapter and bring her vibrant personality into the home of her new family. Whether it is a day at the park or an evening spent in front of the TV, Princess Peach is the perfect furry friend to make everyday just that much more enjoyable.

Moreover, if you think you are the right person to welcome Princess Peach into your home, please don’t hesitate to reach out to North Shore Animal League America. All inquiry emails can be sent over to RachaelR@animalleague.org.

Now let’s help give Princess Peach the family, home and future she deserves!

STILL SEARCHING FOR A GREAT HOME

CASSIDY

Fortunately rescued by North Shore from the mid-west, Cassidy is a three-year-old Terrier and Schnauzer mix. She is a smaller dog with soft white and light brown hair and an adorable look that will have you falling in love instantly. Although she is a bit shy and timid at first, she is quick to warm up and show affection to those that earn her trust.

Terriers are known for being a relatively small breed although there are different variations. They were first bred and trained to hunt rodents and vermin. Therefore, the breed is known for being active and high-energy. The name terrier is actually in reference to the Latin word “terra” meaning Earth, and it signifies their love of digging which was once useful for finding prey such as moles and badgers.

Due to their trained hunting past, Terriers are also notably intelligent and are quite responsive to training. They are often very single-minded, meaning that they become very concentrated at the task at hand, whether that be playing fetch or hunting prey. During the time that Cassidy has been at North Shore’s campus, her adaptability has been thoroughly demonstrated through her ability to learn how to walk on a leash, as well as do her business outside. In addition, her particular breed is also known for being territorial. They are often protective of their homes and loved ones, thus, can form very strong bonds with their owners.

Rosie Tombolo, the Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “During Cassidy’s time here at North Shore Animal League America, our medical and behavioral staff have worked with her to teach her how to walk on a leash and how to use the bathroom outside. She is a smart dog with so much love to give.”

The staff at North Shore also wants future potential owner(s) of Cassidy to be aware that she does have a heart murmur. This is a medical condition that requires her to be seen by a vet twice a year to listen to and view her heart through an echocardiogram. Other than this condition, Cassidy is in great health and has plenty of joy-filled years to share with her future family.

Lastly, it is recommended that Cassidy go to a home with children at least 12 years of age, as she is a relatively timid little pup. Nonetheless, Cassidy is yet another incredibly caring and deserving dog that will bring plenty of love and laughter into any home she is welcomed into.
