Jackson was adopted rather quickly by a family that was more than happy to give him a great home.

It’s that time of the week again – it is time to feature an adorable pet that is anxiously waiting to be adopted! As many of you know, we here at Movie TV Tech Geeks have been teaming up with the reputable North Shore Animal League America to raise awareness for pet adoption. By featuring an adoptable cat or dog every week, we have been able to help find homes for countless animals and shine a light on the many animals that are in need.

Even if you don’t live in the area, you can still contact North Shore Animal League, and they can guide you to the closest no-kill rescue shelter in your area for a similar dog or even arrange travel arrangements. If you have a friend you think would be interested, pass these articles on as we are working even harder this year to get even more pets adopted than last year.

North Shore Animal League America, which is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. Since 1944, the organization has strived towards achieving its ultimate vision: “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate permanent homes.”

To date, North Shore has helped find homes for over 1,000,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. With their main headquarters in Port Washington, New York, North Shore provides crucial resources such as a pet adoption center, a pet health center that offers affordable veterinary care and much more.

Now it’s time to introduce…Jackson!

Rescued from Tennessee, Jackson is a 1-year-old Pointer/Hound mix. He is a handsome young boy who has a lively personality. He loves to show off his ability to sit on command, especially if it entails receiving some crunchy treats afterward.

Jackson’s Pointer traits are very apparent in his appearance, as he has a slim snout and a pointy, long tail. Pointers are known for their highly distinguishable features and playful personalities. They are mid-to-large sized dogs, typically ranging from 45 to 75 pounds when full grown.

Pointers tend to be very interactive with their family members. These dogs love to play with their loved ones and also prove their loyalty. In some cases, Pointers have been known to be good watchdogs, as they have are inherently alert, which allows them to sense unusual occurrences in their surroundings.

Jackson’s particular breeds are also both known for being energetic, which is clearly present in Jackson’s personality. They love to let out their boundless energy, whether it is playing a game of fetch or going for a run on the beach. This makes them the perfect companion for owners who lead an active lifestyle and could use some company on their daily walk/run/bike ride.

Rosie Tombolo, the Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Jackson has a lot of positive energy and a tail that never stops wagging. He will need a strong, patient family who is willing to work with him on leash manners and basic training skills.”

The staff at North Shore recommends that Jackson be placed in a home with children who are over the age of 12. In addition, they feel that he would do very well in a home that has other pets – especially ones that can keep up with his energy level. Lastly, if you are interested in welcoming this pup into your home, North Shore kindly asks that you and your family (including any current four-legged family members) stop by the shelter and meet Jackson beforehand.

Moreover, Jackson is an adorable pup with lots of joy, love and affection to share. He is more than ready to find his forever home and start building a bond with his family that will last a lifetime.

STILL SEARCHING FOR A GREAT HOME

CASSIDY

Fortunately rescued by North Shore from the mid-west, Cassidy is a three-year-old Terrier and Schnauzer mix. She is a smaller dog with soft white and light brown hair and an adorable look that will have you falling in love instantly. Although she is a bit shy and timid at first, she is quick to warm up and show affection to those that earn her trust.

Terriers are known for being a relatively small breed although there are different variations. They were first bred and trained to hunt rodents and vermin. Therefore, the breed is known for being active and high-energy. The name terrier is actually in reference to the Latin word “terra” meaning Earth, and it signifies their love of digging which was once useful for finding prey such as moles and badgers.

Due to their trained hunting past, Terriers are also notably intelligent and are quite responsive to training. They are often very single-minded, meaning that they become very concentrated at the task at hand, whether that be playing fetch or hunting prey. During the time that Cassidy has been at North Shore’s campus, her adaptability has been thoroughly demonstrated through her ability to learn how to walk on a leash, as well as do her business outside. In addition, her particular breed is also known for being territorial. They are often protective of their homes and loved ones, thus, can form very strong bonds with their owners.

Rosie Tombolo, the Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “During Cassidy’s time here at North Shore Animal League America, our medical and behavioral staff have worked with her to teach her how to walk on a leash and how to use the bathroom outside. She is a smart dog with so much love to give.”

The staff at North Shore also wants future potential owner(s) of Cassidy to be aware that she does have a heart murmur. This is a medical condition that requires her to be seen by a vet twice a year to listen to and view her heart through an echocardiogram. Other than this condition, Cassidy is in great health and has plenty of joy-filled years to share with her future family.

Lastly, it is recommended that Cassidy go to a home with children at least 12 years of age, as she is a relatively timid little pup. Nonetheless, Cassidy is yet another incredibly caring and deserving dog that will bring plenty of love and laughter into any home she is welcomed into.
