Cheddar was updated rather quickly, which didn’t come as a surprise. She found a home within 48 hours of our featuring her and now she’s enjoying her next chance at life thanks to North Shore Animal League America. We’re very proud that over 80% of the animals that we’re featuring on Movie TV Tech Geeks are finding homes since September 2015 and we hope to get as close to 90% this year.
This week, our Adopt Me feature pet is Cheddar, and I can honestly say I don’t think she will be staying a North Shore Animal League America for long as she’s the most adorable thing you have seen. I am personally tempted to fly her up here to Canada if my college would let me have a pet cat in the dorms!
Through our teaming up with North Shore Animal League America, we once again are featuring an adorable pet that is anxiously waiting to be adopted. By featuring a weekly pet on our site, we hope to help North Shore raise awareness for pet adoption, as well as find homes for as many deserving animals as possible. This week we once again have a fluffy feline that is looking for her forever home.
North Shore Animal League America is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. For over 70 years, North Shore has been rescuing animals and advocating their proper care. Since opening in 1944, the organization has saved the lives of over 1,000,000 cats, dogs, kittens and puppies.
The shelter is located in Port Washington, New York, where it facilitates animal rescue and adoptions, as well as plays a lead role in the no-kill movement. North Shore Animal League America continues to innovate better and more sustainable ways to care for pets, in order to create a brighter future for animals everywhere.
With their vision, “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate, permanent homes.” North Shore Animal League America continues to make a positive difference in the lives of countless animals.
Now without further ado…we are pleased to introduce little Miss Cheddar!
Cheddar is a spunky 10-month-old domestic cat that was rescued from the local New York Tri-state area. She has glowing yellow eyes and soft, short grey and white hair. The staff at North Shore notes that she has a bright, playful personality and can often be seen dashing around on her little white boots.
As a family pet, Cheddar can provide ample companionship to adults and seniors and improve their feelings of self-worth. Taking care of her can also help provide a sense of purpose for her owners. It has been said that pet owners smile more, laugh more and form special friendships with other animal owners and lovers. Undoubtedly, Cheddar will bring these improvements to her new owners’ lives and help them lead a more joyful life.
Cats are extremely versatile and adaptable animals, making them the perfect pet option for almost every household. As mainly independent animals, cats are often low maintenance and are perfect for those who live an active and busy lifestyle who may not be able to take on the responsibility that is associated with owning a dog.
Jennifer Workman, the Feline Behaviorist at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Cheddar is an independent feline who gets along well with others. She will need patience while adjusting to her new home, but with time she will learn to trust and love!”
Moreover, North Shore is looking to find Cheddar a home with kids no younger than 16 years old. In addition, they want to place her with a family that has had previous experience with cats and knows how to properly care for Cheddar and ensure she is able to blossom into the special little kitty she is destined to be. Since she is a very friendly feline, Cheddar is also considered to be a great addition to a home that already has cats.
Furthermore, Cheddar is more than just a sweet face. She has a joyful, infectious personality that will only become more apparent with some genuine love and care from her new family. As she continues to transition into adulthood, Cheddar will be able to form a very special and strong bond with those who nurture her and provide her with the love and attention she deserves.
With her pouncing and playing around the house I guarantee not a day will go by without her having you smiling from ear to ear.

LA’S LATEST ADOPTABLE PET DOG
This week we are pleased to introduce Louie, a spunky little guy who is ready to bring joy to his new family’s life.
Louie is a 9-year-old Havanese-Papillion mix. Louie was unfortunately subjected to some unfavorable conditions, as he was saved by North Shore from a puppy mill. For those of you who are unfamiliar with puppy mill facilities, they are establishments that use intensive and often inhumane means to breed dogs that will eventually be sold off to pet stores. Dogs raised and living in these mills are subjected to cruel treatment that can often negatively affect the development of their personalities and even physical stature. Fortunately, North Shore was able to step in and save Louie – along with many other dogs – from these disturbing environments.
Due to his unpleasant past, Louie is a little shy at first because he has not had the opportunity to be around many humans. However, his special spark allows for him to quickly warm up to people with just a little time and patience. He has an infectious, playful personality and is full of energy. He is always ready for a good scratch behind his ears and doing so will surely help you develop the strong bond and trust that Louie hopes to have with his new owners.
Havanese-Paillion mixes, sometimes referred to as Havallons, are known for their love and loyalty. They are highly intelligent and therefore know just how to please and show love to their families. Generally, they are social dogs, which get along well with children, adults and other animals. However, due to Louie’s puppy mill upbringing, it may take a bit of time before he opens up as much as his breed counterparts.
Moreover, owners are advised to brush their Havallons every few days to prevent their coat from matting and keeping them shiny and well groomed. In addition, it is recommended that they receive outdoor activity regularly.
In agreement with his breed’s characteristics, Louie is a well-mannered dog who has an impressive set of skills. He is both housebroken and walks well on a leash, which is quite a feat for a dog coming from a puppy mill that has limited-to-no prior training. Furthermore, Louie is happy to show off his leash walking skills, as he loves spending his time exploring the dog park. Afterward, he is the perfect cuddle buddy for an evening of lounging.
Rosie Tombolo, the Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Louie is so cute and resilient. It is amazing how quickly he is warming up to people and adapting to his new environment. With a little patience and compassion, he will adjust well to his new home and family in no time!”
Fortunately, Louie was rescued from his puppy mill past by North Shore, but now it is up to all of us to ensure he finds his forever home that will truly give him the happily-ever-after that he deserves.

Still Hoping For A Great Home:
With all of your help we have been able to support North Shore Animal League America’s admirable efforts and aid in finding homes for numerous pets over the past few months. However, there are still plenty deserving animals at the shelter that are anxiously awaiting a new home and we are happy to continue to do our part in helping spread the word.
Through our teaming up with North Shore Animal League America, Movie TV Tech Geeks features an adoptable pet every week that is looking for a new family to share its love. By showing off some of the deserving animals, we hope to raise awareness for pet adoption and give as many pets a happy ending as we possibly can.

This week are overjoyed to introduce Tennessee, a lovable boy who is ready to find his forever home.
Tennessee is a handsome Lab-Terrier mix, which was rescued from a municipal shelter in none other than Tennessee! At 5 and half years old, he has both a playful and calm spirit. He loves to devote his time to letting out some energy while exploring the outdoors (such as at dog parks), as well as lounging around in his cage on a comfy blanket.
Stemming from his Labrador roots, it is not surprising that Tennessee has an infectious spirit and lively energy. Labs are known for their love of activity, exploring and being one of the best companions you could ask for on your daily walks/runs.
Fortunately, Labs are also commonly very easy to train. They often show a strong desire to please their owners and will listen to commands if it means they will earn some love and affection (and maybe even a few treats). This is shown in the fact that Tennessee has already been housebroken (meaning he knows to do his business outside). However, this particular breed is also notorious for being young at heart throughout their life, which is why North Shore recommends that Tennessee’s new owners put some time into reestablishing proper leash manners to ensure that he is reminded what is expected of him when exploring the great outdoors.
Although he can sometimes exude a relatively quiet, shy disposition, Tennessee is always up for some head rubs and attention from the closest two-legged friend he can find. Evidently, he appreciates the feeling of love and affection from those around him and undoubtedly returns the favor with his caring personality.
Ronald Martorelli, the Quality Care Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Tennessee loves to play and jump like a puppy. He greets everyone with a smile and some hops! He is already housebroken and loves going on walks, but will need to learn some extra leash manners.”
While residing at the shelter, Tennessee has shown himself to be a friendly and social animal that gets along with other pups. However, the staff at North Shore recommends that owners bring in their current dog(s) to meet Tennessee before taking him home to join their family.
Furthermore, Tennessee has a spirit and light that will instantly make you fall in love. He will bring plenty of joy into the lives of his new family for years to come.

MEET CHASE:
Chase is an adorable, shorthaired domestic cat. She has a raincloud-like gray coat that has a glossy effect due to the hints of silver within her fur. Although she is a mature 11-year-old cat, she has plenty of years of love and joy to give to her new family. She has striking green-yellow eyes that sit right above her round, pronounced cheeks – which you will fall in love with.
Her affectionate personality is further demonstrated in her loyalty to the North Shore staff and her constant desire to snuggle up on your lap. She can often be found in North Shore Animal League America’s back offices, where she is hanging out with her two-legged friends. She loves to walk around from office to office, giving each staff member their own greeting and finding the perfect place for herself to settle down and take a nap. Thus, Chase is the perfect warm and loving addition to your family as we enter the cold, dark winter season.
The Shelter director of North Shore Animal League America, Christina Travalja, notes, “Chase is such a sweet girl with a lot of personality. When you pet her, she lets out the cutest, high pitched meow and she loves giving head butts.”

We are pleased to present Cuervo, the latest dog that is looking for a new home.
Cuervo is a large and goofy Lab mix. He is a mature, ten years young dog, who still loves to have fun, play with his favorite toys and go on regular outings. He is in need of a new owner who can be a strong leader in his life, and can benefit from some loving companionship.
Labrador Retrievers, also known as Labs, were initially bred to be both friendly and useful work dogs. Historically, they were employed as fisherman’s helpers, as they were notably intelligent, fast learning and obedient. Nowadays, Labs are often seen as companions to hunters, aid dogs for those with a disability and search and rescue dogs.
Additionally, due to their sweet nature and warmth, Labs are frequently utilized as therapy dogs. They can be seen visiting homes for the elderly and hospitals. Thus, it is not surprising that many owners liken their Labs to that of an angel. Their warmth and friendship have allowed Labs to become the most registered breed with the American Kennel Club.
The staff at North Shore Animal League America notes that Cuervo gets along well with some dogs, but on occasion he can be picky. Thus, they recommend that you set up a meet and greet with Cuervo and your current furry pals if you are hoping to add him to your pack.
Jessica Perez, the Groomer and Cuervo’s buddy at North Shore explains, “Cuervo is one of the most loyal dogs I’ve met in my life. Once he gets to know you, he just wants to be by your side at all times.”

Although Rueben is an adorable boy with a joyful personality, he unfortunately, has endured some tough situations in his past. Rueben was rescued by North Shore from a mid-western puppy mill. For those of you who are unfamiliar with puppy mill facilities, they are establishments that use intensive and often inhumane means to breed dogs that will eventually be sold off to pet stores. Dogs raised and living in these mills are subjected to cruel treatment that can often negatively affect the development of their personalities and even physical stature. Fortunately, North Shore was able to step in and save Rueben, along with countless other dogs, from the disturbing environment they had been living in.
Little Rueben is a handsome boxer mix. Boxers are known for their intelligence and playful energy. They often form strong bonds with their owners, and therefore, prefer to play with their immediate family, rather than with strangers. It is noted that as long as they are given plenty of opportunities to let out their energy, boxers can thrive in a range of housing situations, from large estates to small city apartments.
Male boxers usually grow to about 22-26 inches and weigh from 65 to 70 pounds. They have distinctive square heads and folded ears. Their fur coat is short and sheds light to moderately. Therefore, they are fairly easy to keep groomed, as they only need to be brushed and bathed when dirty or when there is a notable build-up of their natural oils in their fur. They are known for their alert expression, which can make it seem like they are watching for something even when they are at rest.
Like most boxers, Rueben has a lovable spirit. However, it is noted by the staff that he does have a relatively quiet and docile demeanor. At 9 years old, Rueben loves to just relax and can often be found lounging around on his large comfy bed at the shelter. However, he also would love to accompany you on walks around the park or the neighborhood.
Rueben is a very well mannered pup, which gets along with most other animals. Although he loves to make friends, it is recommended that potential adopters bring in their current dog(s) to meet Rueben in advance. Being the sweet boy he is, Rueben would also most likely do well in a household that has cats.
