What better way to celebrate the joy and generosity that surrounds the holiday season than to welcome a deserving, adorable pup into your home! This week we are back with another “Adopt Me” pet feature. Through our teaming up with North Shore Animal League America, we have been able to help house countless pets. Every week, we post a different adoptable animal – cat or dog – in hopes of finding them the loving family they deserve.
Even if you don’t live in the area, you can still contact North Shore Animal League, and they can guide you to the closest no-kill rescue shelter in your area for a similar dog or even arrange travel arrangements. If you have a friend you think would be interested, pass these articles on as we continue to strive to find homes for all of the pets we feature on our site.
North Shore Animal League America, which is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. Since 1944, the organization has strived towards achieving its ultimate vision: “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate permanent homes.”
To date, North Shore has helped find homes for over 1,000,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. With their main headquarters in Port Washington, New York, North Shore provides crucial resources such as a pet adoption center, a pet health center that offers affordable veterinary care and much more.
Now… Time to say hello to Maya!
Maya is a beautiful 3-year-old American Pit Bull/Terrier/Pointer mix. She has a soft, short black and white fur coat and adorable brown eyes. Maya is a fairly lean dog with a medium-to-large stature. She is very playful and energetic, making her an excellent companion for days at the park or on the beach. One of Maya’s favorite activities is taking long walks with her two-legged friends. She also really enjoys playing with other dogs that are around the same size as her.
Maya’s Pointer traits are fairly apparent in her appearance, as she has the breed’s signature slim snout. Pointers are known for their highly distinguishable features and playful personalities. They are mid-to-large sized dogs, typically ranging from 45 to 75 pounds when full grown.
Pointers tend to be very interactive with their family members. These dogs love to play with their loved ones and also prove their loyalty. In some cases, Pointers have been known to be good watchdogs, as they have are inherently alert, which allows them to sense unusual occurrences in their surroundings.
All of Maya’s breeds are known for being energetic, which is clearly present in her infectious personality. Dogs of her breeds love to let out their boundless energy, whether it is playing a game of fetch or going for a run. Inevitably, this makes them the perfect companion for owners who lead an active lifestyle and could use some company on their daily walk/run/bike ride.
Rosie Tombolo, the Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “Maya is such a sweet and gentle girl. She can go home with children six years old and older who can play fetch with her and give her belly rubs!”
Moreover, while Maya is a very playful and enthusiastic pup, she is also incredibly friendly and loving. Her well-roundedness makes her the ideal addition to any suitable home. She is the perfect partner for a day of activity, as well as an evening spent cuddled up on the couch. Help us give this deserving canine a fresh start and a new home for 2017!
