To kick off the month of December, we have an adorable pup that is anxiously waiting to find her forever home! As many of our readers know, we feature an adoptable pet – cat or dog – every week. Through our teaming up with North Shore Animal League America, we here at Movie TV Tech Geeks hope to help find homes for deserving pets, as well as raise awareness for pet adoption and shelters.
North Shore Animal League America is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. For over 70 years, North Shore has been rescuing animals and advocating their proper care. Since opening in 1944, the organization has saved the lives of over 1,000,000 cats, dogs, kittens and puppies.
Even if you don’t live in the area, you can still contact North Shore Animal League, and they can guide you to the closest no-kill rescue shelter in your area for a similar dog or even arrange travel arrangements. If you have a friend you think would be interested, pass these articles on as we are working even harder this year to get even more pets adopted than last year.
The shelter is located in Port Washington, New York, where it facilitates animal rescue and adoptions, as well as plays a lead role in the no-kill movement. North Shore Animal League America continues to innovate better and more sustainable ways to care for pets, in order to create a brighter future for animals everywhere.
With their vision, “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate permanent homes.” North Shore Animal League America continues to make a positive difference in the lives of countless animals.
Now…without further ado…meet Sophia!
Rescued by North Shore from Tennessee, Sophia is a 2-year-old Cattle Dog Mix. She has a soft brown and black coat of fur with merle markings that are indicative of her Australian Cattle Dog breed. She is a very well behaved pup, who is already house broken (meaning she knows to do her business outside). In addition, she is also fully leash trained and makes an excellent companion for a walk in the park or around the block.
Cattle dogs are known for being relatively compact dogs with great agility, strength and endurance. They tend to have a very muscular physical build and are determined when it comes to completing the task at hand. Their high energy and task-driven personalities make them great companions for runs, hikes, bike rides, etc. In addition, many dogs of this breed are big fans of playing games like Sophia, as they enjoy being given a job to complete.
With proper care and attention, Cattle dogs are often easily trained. They respond well to consistent leadership and in many cases, they can even be taught to be vigilant watchdogs for their owners.
Rosie Tombolo, the Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “If you are looking for a well-rounded, petite, young dog, Sophia is your girl! She has a sweet disposition and loves being dressed up in cozy sweaters or coats. This curious and playful pup would make a great addition to your family.”
In line with her sweet disposition, Sophia is very tolerant and friendly with children over the age of 6. Staff at North Shore notes that she would very much love a yard to play around in, as well as a big comfy bed with her stuffed animals to curl up in when she wants to get some shuteye.
If you are interested in adopting Sophia, it is recommended that you come to the shelter ahead of time to meet her before welcoming her to your home. In addition, if you already have a four-legged friend in your family, it is also recommended that you bring them with you to meet Sophia as well – this way you can ensure that they are ready to share a loving home.
Moreover, Sophia is an adorable, loving and playful pup. She has a bright personality and is more-than-ready to find a home and forever family this holiday season!
