UPDATE: 5/1/2017 May started out well for Doot as he found a great new home to enjoy National Shelter Pet Day with. Don’t forget there’s plenty more wonderful rescue pets still hoping for a new home in our Rescue Me section. We also havfe a Caring for your Pet Tips section for all those things that come up and you need a quick solution or answer for.

To end off the month of April, we are happy to shine a spotlight on an adorable little furry that is anxiously waiting to find a loving place to call his home. As our loyal readers know, we here at Movie TV Tech Geeks have been collaborating with North Shore Animal League America to raise awareness for animal rescue and adoption. By featuring an adoptable pet on our site – both cats and dogs – every week, we have been able to help find homes for countless deserving animals.

North Shore Animal League America is the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. For over 70 years, North Shore has been rescuing animals and advocating their proper care. Since opening in 1944, the organization has saved the lives of over 1,000,000 cats, dogs, kittens and puppies.

The shelter is located in Port Washington, New York, where it facilitates animal rescue and adoptions, as well as plays a lead role in the no-kill movement. North Shore Animal League America continues to innovate better and more sustainable ways to care for pets, in order to create a brighter future for animals everywhere.

Even if you don’t live in the area, you can still contact North Shore Animal League, and they can guide you to the closest no-kill rescue shelter in your area for a similar dog or even arrange travel arrangements. If you have a friend you think would be interested, pass these articles on as we hope to continue to find loving, suitable homes for even more pets.

With their vision, “To put an end to animal cruelty and euthanasia and to create a world in which all companion animals find compassionate, permanent homes.” North Shore Animal League America continues to make a positive difference in the lives of countless animals.

Now, time to introduce the featured pet of this week…Doot!

Doot is a 1-year-old Domestic Shorthaired cat. He was fortunate enough to be rescued by the staff at North Shore from his previously unsuitable living conditions in the New York Tri-State area. He has a black and white soft coat of fur, as well as a cute pink button nose. During his time at North Shore’s campus, Doot has proven to have a rather shy and timid personality. However, he often breaks out of his shell, especially when he is busy playing with other cats or receiving love from his favorite two-legged friends at the shelter.

Cats are extremely versatile and adaptable animals, making them the perfect pet option for almost every household. As mainly independent animals, cats are often low maintenance and are perfect for those who live an active and busy lifestyle who may not be able to take on the responsibility that is associated with owning a dog.

Rosie Tombolo, a Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America notes, “If you have a cat at home and are looking to adopt another young companion for him or her, Doot would make an excellent choice.”

Like most of his fellow feline counterparts, some of Doot’s favorite pastimes include chomping down on treats, meowing for attention and getting as many pats as possible. While he does warm up to people relatively fast, the staff at North Shore recommends that Doot go to a home with children (if any) over the age of 6. This is recommended based on Doot’s inherently quiet and independent nature.

Moreover, at just 1-year-old, Doot has many joy-filled years ahead of him. With some love and attention, as well as a cozy place to call his home, Doot will undoubtedly prove to be an ideal addition to any suitable family dynamic.
